[Music] okay so philippians 4 chapter 6 i'm sure most of you us have come to healing mass because we have some sort of thing that we want to pray for so in philippians 4 6 it says do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to god [Music] there is no problem to be god cannot solve it there is no mountain at all he cannot move in [Music] there is no storm to dark god cannot come [Music] if [Music] will carry you if he carried the weight of the world upon [Music] he said [Music] and i would give [Music] is [Music] if he carried the weight of the world [Music] i know my sister that he will carry so so so do uh um oh wow oh um oh um can we all please stand for the entrance [Music] praise i will say this is the day that the lord has made i will rejoice for he has made me glad he has made me glad he has made me glad i will rejoice for he has made me glad he has made me glad he has made me glad i will rejoice [Music] that the lord has made i will rejoice for he has made me grind he has made me glad he has made me mad i will rejoice for he [Music] [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit the grace of our lord jesus christ and the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all good evening dear friends as we celebrate this eucharist we offer all our intentions here the foot of the altar this will be my final healing mass here in um in holy family in doufton at least this time around we never know when next time round comes so what but we offer i offer all your intentions in a very special way in the presence of jesus and pray for the lord's mercy and grace upon you as we come into the presence of the lord praying for his mercy and love during the eucharist let us pray for the healing and good health of baby zara adriel family our clara corbett family for jennifer for the healing of vero margaret joslin deflan ingrid john alice for monique yvonne's for the soul of willy and monty nogara and marlene no for the pascal family and matu family and the soul of mario who passed away this morning let's bring these intentions let's bring our own personal intentions here the foot of the altar let's believe that the lord has brought us into his presence with with an with a purpose there's a reason why jesus wants us here tonight so as we close our eyes let's remember all those prayer intentions that we've held dear to our heart and also those prayer intentions that maybe are flashing through our mind at this moment let's not just get stuck at certain pray intentions we've always just been repeating but also letting the spirit tell us certain intentions on the spur of this moment what is the spirit speaking where is the holy spirit asking us to concentrate what is he asking us to pray for just for a moment let the voice of the spirit ring through you let certain thoughts or certain people flash through your mind and then offer them at the foot of the altar and to celebrate this sacrifice with a heart that is pure let us ask the lord pardon and forgiveness i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life [Music] christ have mercy [Music] [Music] glory to god and the highest peace will [Music] glory to god in the highest and on earth we praise you we bless you we adore you we glorify you we give you thanks for your peaceful rule and that your church may rejoice untroubled in her devotion through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever first reading a reading from the book of ecclesiasticus in a shaken sieve the rubbish is left behind so too the defects of a man appear in a stalk the kiln tests the work of the potter the test of a man is in his conversation the orchard where the tree grows is judged on the quality of its fruit similarly a man's words betray what he feels do not praise a man before he has spoken since this is the test of men this is the word of the lord response to the psalm lord it is give it is good to give thanks to you it is good to give thanks to the lord to make music to your name or most high to proclaim your love in the morning and your truth in the watches of the night the dust will flourish like the palm tree and grow like a lebanon siddha response planted in the house of the lord they will flourish in the courts of our god still bearing fruit when they are old still full of sap still green to proclaim that the lord is just in him my rock there is no wrong response second reading a reading from the first letter saint paul to the corinthians when this perishable nature has put on imperishability and when this mortal nature has put on immortality then the words of scripture will come true death is swallowed up in victory death where is your victory death where is your sting now the sting of death is sin and sin gets its power from the law so let us thank god for giving us a victory through our lord jesus christ never given then my dear brothers never admit defeat keep on working at the lord's work always knowing that in the lord you cannot be laboring in vain this is the hallelujah to the lord sing hallelujah to the lord [Music] the lord be with you hence with your spirits a reading from the holy gospel according to luke glory to you o lord jesus told a parable to his disciples can one blind man guide another surely both will fall into a pit the disciple is not superior to his teacher the fully trained disciple will always be like his teacher why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the plank in your own how can you say to your brother brother let me take out the splinter that is in your eye when you cannot see the plank in your own hypocrite take the plank out of your own eye first and then you will see clearly enough to take out the splinter that is in your brother's eye there is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit nor again a rotten tree that produces sound fruit for every tree can be told by its own fruit people do not pick figs from thorns nor gather grapes from brambles a good man draws what is good from the store of goodness in his heart a bad man draws what is bad from the store of badness for a man's words flow out of what fills his heart the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ these days i've just realized that leaving is far more hectic than coming in it's it's honestly been a struggle to even get one minute and two minutes just to to myself and so um three four days i i actually got around three days to myself i went for uh i went for a little trip and i did mount hawthon and after that with um with some families i'm i'm close to i i went to echocard you know where chuka is the at the marui river and uh one of the days we went to this ranch that is there i forget the name bill i just forget the name there's a ranch in ichuka there and they have a lot of animals over there and and one of the things they had and i was very interested in doing was archery so um we paid for that and we we went for the archery so there were there were little kids each family had little kids as well when we went into that little room the indoor archery center where they were where we were supposed to do this there was only one person to kind of handle everything and so by the time she got around to each one the parents of the kids started helping the kids to shoot the arrow and i was sitting behind and each parent is with each little kid and trying to help them shoot the arrow and none of these parents have shot a bow arrow before that okay so they're holding it for the first time and then they're trying to help the kid shoot it and so sitting behind i told one of the mothers this is the blind leading the blind the the arrows were barely going anywhere in in that direction well uh then it came to my chance so i i went to to to shoot as well and after i finished that that uh um series of of letting the arrows go i'm not telling you where it went but letting the arrows go um i realized thank god i didn't have a child because my hands are all bruised the string would come and hit my hand just imagine if i had a child most probably the children would have been dead by now you know we always think that we get things right and then we see what everyone else has a fault and as has as a fault and and kind of thing that let's teach the other we won't always teach the other and maybe it's it's beautiful in today's gospel passage how jesus emphasizes the importance of looking into our own cells when he when he says so clearly can a blind person guide a blind person will not both fall into a pit so often we fail to understand that we have that log in our eyes and we are looking at the the little pla the little um tiny little piece that is there in our brother our sister's i the little faults that they have but maybe the lord is reminding us to introspect it's such an important part of our christian spiritual journey introspection looking into myself to see where i stand what state is my heart in what am what am i when the lord looks at me it's beautiful to look outside but sadly when we look outside we don't look with mercy rather we look outside with judgment but so important when we look we look through the window of mercy but when we look at ourselves look through the mirror of repentance look through the window of mercy when you look at the other so that you might be merciful look through the mirror of repentance so that we might look into our heart and see where do i need to change if i don't ask myself that question i will keep looking at the little speck in my brother my sister's eye and i'll think that all is good with me and i don't realize that i'm bruising myself all along i actually didn't understand i was bruising myself i finished shooting and i walked out and then i looked at my hand so they actually give you a little a little padding to wear on your hand after doing it i realized why they give that padding because then i took out the padding and i could see this big bruise if you don't believe me it's like it's nice and good let it be there sometimes we need to look and see that maybe we are bruising ourselves when we stop looking into our own hearts if we do not look into our own hearts we are never going to see what lies there and maybe we will realize it only when it is rotting beyond repair we read in the letter of saint james chapter 1 verse 26 and 27 the letter of saint james chapter 1 verse 26 and 27. is it going to come up there yeah and stay okay can we read if anything that they are religious but do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts their religion is worthless if i think i'm religious but i'm not looking into my heart what is my tongue speaking the fault of the other the problem of the other the mistake of the other when am i going to realize that i'm bruised when am i going to realize that maybe i'm falling i'm slipping away because i'm so preoccupied with what is there in the other's eye look into myself and search and seek first john chapter one verse eight to nine first john chapter one verse eight and nine we read first john chapter one verse eight and nine read if we say we have no sin but deceive we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us it's just not in us i remember mother who came bringing her her daughter for confession and said father this child needs confession and i was i was kind of a little busy so i said i'm a little tight with time so for two people no only for one father i don't sin only for one i don't sin i don't know if she said i have no sin or i don't sin one of the two it was but it does happen we look at our children and we find fault in them don't we they aren't the ones who come to church they're the ones who've left the church they don't pray oh father i'm praying so much for my child to come to the faith they need so much of prayers do you need prayers no father you just pray for my child it's just a general statement i'm saying but so often we are looking outside and in the midst of all this looking outside maybe we are forgetting to look into our hearts and maybe we reach that stage where we say oh i don't have any sin the word says you deceive yourself don't conceal our sins proverbs 28 verse 13 and 14. proverbs 28 verse 13 and 14 i hope i'm getting this right proverbs 28 verse 13 and 14. no one who conceals transgressions will prosper put that mirror of repentance look into it often look into it often we look into the mirror often when we are leaving our homes don't we yes or no well for those who don't comb their hair or those who don't have hair on their head i know you don't require much but for the rest of us well we we look into the mirror why because we are going and presenting ourselves to the world we like a pretty picture look into the mirror of repentance and see what lies there because that's what god gets to see he loves us and he looks at us but when he looks at us does he also get to see the filth as a parent maybe in the morning you go to look at your children you love your children and you go to look at your children and then you see their dirty rooms isn't that true yes just imagine when he looks at us because he loves us and then he gets to see the filth as well but i can't see it because i'm looking through the window and looking outward i'm not looking through the mirror of repentance and looking inward and that is why so so beautifully it is it is said in job chapter 6 verse 24 job chapter 6 verse 24 book of job chapter 6 verse 10 24 teach me and i will be silent make me understand how i have gone wrong that should be such a beautiful prayer we make every day multiple times during the day lord teach me i will be silent make me understand how i have gone wrong so that i can change so that i will then be a pretty picture to my lord my lord can look and say with so much of pride this is my child the beloved you know in in the gospel passage it speaks about about the tree that bears fruit i spoke about this in in the morning mornings homely as well in galatians chapter 5 verse 22 the fruit of the the spirit galatians chapter 5 verse 22 by contrast the fruit of the spirit is gentleness why you don't want gentleness and self-control generosity faithfulness gentleness and self-control have you seen a grammatical mistake in that verse those of you who are there for the morning mass keep your mouth shut have you have you seen a grammatical mistake there what's the grammatical mistake st paul wasn't very good at grammar what is the grammatical mistake there by contrast the the fruit of the spirit and then there are multiple fruits either saint paul didn't know grammar or there is a deeper meaning to this the fruit is not just love the fruit is not just joy the fruit is not just peace the fruit is not just patience it's not just kindness it's not just generosity it's not just faithfulness it's not just gentleness it's not just self-control we're not picking and choosing which fruits we want this is not a fruit market all of these together is what makes the fruit one you cannot have a portion of it and say that i have the fruit of the spirit now um you have apple computers apple has their logo their emblem what is that the apple which is bit you know only portion is there you can see the half that's that little quarter that's missing yeah that's how they are they'll sell you a bit anybody who owns an apple computer and an iphone uh you you know very well most of your money goes in the accessories they've given you only a bit and then go and find the rest the fruit of the spirit is all together that is what we should be seeking that is what we should be introspecting and seeing what is there within my heart stop looking dear brothers and sisters at the speck in my brother my sister's eye stop looking at that speck look through the window of mercy and look at the mirror of repentance and we'll be far better off i pray with that and ask the lord every day tell me lord where i have gone wrong tell me where i should change then every day we will take one step closer to the kingdom of god let's close eyes for a moment lord jesus we thank you for your teachings we thank you that you were so frank with us you didn't just tell us good things to make us feel good and high [Music] you spoke to us the truth we thank you that today we have the truth the word is truth so often lord we've been looking [Music] through the window of judgment saw the speck in our brother's sister's eye condemned them belittled them brush them aside [Music] but i never realized lord how bruised i myself was my soul being tarnished by the filth of sin unholiness impurity carelessness bitterness unforgiveness oh lord a bundle of things within my heart [Music] i failed to realize [Music] that i've not been looking through the mirror or at the mirror of repentance give me the grace tonight and from tonight every day tell me lord where i've gone wrong tell me lord where i need to change tell me lord how i can receive the fruit of the spirit [Music] so that when people look at me and come across me they will somewhere feel the presence of the living god in me [Music] help me lord to bear fruit fruit in abundance amen [Music] and let us profess our faith i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god light from light true god from true god begotten not made consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us men and for us salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became man for our sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come amen as we are going to enter into the offertry let's bring our prayers into the presence of jesus all the pray intentions that have been placed in the petition box all the prayers that we hold dear to our heart let us also pray especially for ukraine the people who suffer their homes they've had to leave their lives that has been that have been disrupted disrupted let us pray for our own families that our families might be places of grace and mercy lord we pray for our own hearts that our hearts might never be afraid to introspect look into ourselves and desire to be more and more like you through repentance conversion and change lord we pray for our brother our sister who sits next to us those who watch online those who are praying at home because they can't be here accept the prayers that we offer for everyone who suffers everyone who is sad everyone who's depressed everyone who's lonely everyone who sheds a tear everyone who is broken or father in heaven accept these prayers through christ our lord amen we sing the hymn of officer [Music] we our spirits three we do not ask you lord who is my neighbor but stand tonight now in the lead [Music] love our gifts we bring our selfish thoughts make true our failing faith [Music] belongs [Music] lord wash away my iniquity cleanse me from all my sin pray brethren that this my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church o god who provide gifts to be offered to your name and count our oblations as signs of our desire to serve you with devotion we ask of your mercy that what you grant us as the source of merit may also help us to attain merit's reward through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and thing i'm looking for [Music] this life [Music] [Music] above [Music] give me yourself savior [Music] the more that i glimpse your glory my heart is captured by you jesus you are my greatest treasure nothing this world cannot [Music] hear my [Music] above all else [Music] if give me yourself [Music] let us spray nourished by your saving gifts we beseech your mercy lord that by the same sacrament with which you feed us in this present age you may make us partakers of life eternal through christ our lord can they be seated for a moment just a couple of announcements we have made announcements asking those who have parish related keys with them to inform the office so we can check the inventories inventory of the keys there are still those who have certain keys with them who have not informed the office when the key was given to you it was given as a responsibility please be sincere enough to make the effort to call the office and let them know about the keys you have with you march 2nd is ash wednesday a reminder that it's a day of fasting and abstinence we will have mass in the morning at 9 15 and in the evening at 7 00 during which there will be the distribution of the ashes there will be stations of the cross every friday of lent at 8 45 in the morning followed by the holy mass at 9 15 and the evening at 6 30 followed by the holy mass at 7. the divine australia's uh ministry of divine kids uh will be conducting their bible-based catechism for kids aged 5 to 12 which will begin from the first weekend of march 10 30 to 11 so please find the enrollment forms in the foyer and fill them up the divine australia team members will contact you for further details even if you don't belong to this parish you have your children or your grandchildren that will be a wonderful way uh to help your children grow to love the scriptures and find their foundations in the scriptures for all the sacraments so please do make an effort to bring your kids or your grandkids for it from tomorrow that's the 28th of feb by the appointment of the archbishop holy family church dufton will officially have a new parish priest and father john prince we welcome father prince wholeheartedly and pray that his stay in the parish will be a fruitful one we assure him of our full support and prayers as he shepherds this parish father michael myself will leave australia on the 1st of march in the evenings so please do pray for me and my future ministry in sri lanka and my continued studies as well i will be there till tuesday so tuesday will be my final mass tomorrow obviously is father prince's first master's parish priest so he'll be there i'll be there as well for the mass but just letting you know that i'll be there for tomorrow's mass i'll be there i'll celebrate the tuesday's mass as well just to let you know about that tuesday evening i'll fly out so please do keep me in praise now let us all stand the lord be with with your spirit may almighty god within the shelter of your sacred heart when on they harm them keep unstained anointed hands which daily touch your sacred body keep unsullied their lips purpled with your precious blood keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of your glorious priesthood let your holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion bless their labors with abundant fruit with the souls whom they have ministered to be their joy in constellation and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown oh mary queen of the clergy pray for us absolutely for us many holy priests amen we will enter into the moments of the adoration uh this morning there was a person who came and family who came and gave a beautiful testimony about something that happened during one of the retreats that we had over here and for many years they didn't have children i think it was eight nine years that they didn't have children and they came here for the retreat around eight years ago so we used to have the january retreats and we were there for the retreat over here they came for that retreat and they prayed and after nine years the lord blessed them with the gift of a child a beautiful child and now the child is eight years old so they brought the above the child as well and what's beautiful is also that the child is so extremely smart that his teachers say he's two years in advance with others that's how uh now this is not the first time i've heard that i've you know sometimes when when everything goes out of our hands and we have no control at all and then we just look at the lord and tell him i have no one but you and then what the lord does after that is simply amazing but for that we need to just let go and let jesus do his thing let him do it in his way sometimes we are too stuck in telling the lord do it in my way don't be here to satisfy yourself prayers are not about satisfying our self prayer is always about fulfilling god's will whatever is god's will is a prayer uh satisfying ourself is sometimes just our selfishness that's how we want it we want things worked out in a particular way but god has his ways so so uh keep that keep that in prayer as well god always has his way and as long as we are open to what the lord wants the lord will always bring to completion his plan and his purposes so even when you're praying in tonight's adoration the prayer intentions that are there as well the prayer intentions you hold in your heart as well you offer it to jesus and tell the lord there's a beautiful hymn that says have your way holy spirit have your way so let him decide what he wants to do we can put the petitions forward but don't uh like i always say you you give the problem don't give the solution as well that's you know it's like giving jesus three options and telling him you choose any one input no but jesus it's unlimited options don't give jesus three options and tell him to choose from that that's what we do you know three options your objective type questions jesus is not answering answer our question papers so it's important we just give this problem he will decide the solution that's good for us maybe not a solution that we understand today but it will be a solution that we will understand way way later so we we pray for that gift and that grace let's all kneel as we invite the sacrament who's most holy [Music] it [Music] thanksgiving every moment [Music] [Music] think of every member of your family you're not adoring the sacrament who's most holy just by yourself when jesus sees you he sees your family he gifted you your family and therefore when the lord looks at you he cannot but look at your family when the lord said in marriage you are no longer two but you're one so when jesus looks at you he cannot but look at your spouse as well when he gifted you with children he cannot but look at you along with your children this is jesus's gift so when you're adoring the lord even if your spouse is not here even if your children are not here even if your parents are not here even if your siblings are not here even if they don't believe even if they don't don't come to church anymore are a christian community that prays together i share the faith of my brother my sister next to me i'm not alone in prayer i have someone to pray with even if that person has come here with their own prayers still there's some bit of faith in them that's that's forming an aura around them and i'm i'm partaking of that aura of faith as well so not in loneliness not not as single people but as a community of believers maybe in different parts of the world they are praying as well at this moment they are praying in front of the blessed sacrament maybe people who are just sitting by themselves and praying in some lonely church somewhere but we are joining with them we are taking a part of their faith as well as we pray with the church community oh sacramento [Music] all praised [Music] think of every priest you know who might be praying at this moment or priests who have been praying desperately for revival a renewal priests who are involved in evangelization parish priests who might be in remote corners where they are small tiny communities but they pray sitting in front of the blessed sacrament or they are praying maybe even sitting in their presbyteries and calling out to the lord to have mercy join with all those priests join with every bishop every cardinal around the world maybe they are praying for their own dioceses they need blessings and graces maybe they feel lonely in that moment of prayer joined with any cardinal or any bishop that is praying at this moment praying for their flock joined with them maybe our blessed pope is praying at this moment for the whole church join with everyone in the hierarchy as we call out o sacrament most holy [Music] all praise and all thanksgiving there could be those who have fallen on the wayside maybe they are priests maybe they are cardinals maybe their bishops who have fallen on the wayside struggling maybe they want to pray but are not able to pray or they could be the lady they could be lay ministers they could be our brothers our sisters anyone on the journey who has fallen and is not able to rise again they are struggling to utter that prayer join with them and pray for them o sacrament most holy [Music] will not see me again just as on our journeys we've seen so many loved so many they've moved on or we've moved on but right from the time when we were formed in our mother's womb [Music] the day of our birth the first steps we took going to school growing up going to college uni [Music] having a family of our own right to today how many ever years that has been how many ever seconds there have for us to drown in guilt but rather lord looking into the mirror of repentance is rising to life tonight we pray let your all-consuming fire purify me tonight when i look into my heart and i see how much i've fallen at times lord i've looked around i found fault with everyone he didn't do it right she didn't get it right he wasn't good enough she wasn't praying enough he wasn't pure enough all-consuming fire wash cleanse and purify me as is said in the book of ezekiel as gold is purified through the fire i know lord i need to be put through the fire of repentance that what comes out after that will be someone pleasing to my lord and it will humble me that it is not my own ability or capabilities but my lord's mercy that has purified me so with all my mistakes with all my faults with every word or filled or unholy word that has been uttered from my lips every thought that is in that has been impure that has been with bitterness and anger and revenge lord jesus here i offer
