so I wanted to give you a little information first on what this 50-hour maintenance entails what's really nice is when you buy the summit tractor it should come with a manual the manual has right in it it's got a maintenance area that says what exactly needs done it's 50 hours and if you're like me and loose stuff that's paper the nice thing is Summit has their own app so you can download the summit tractor app you can get on and it'll tell you everything that you need for the maintenance and it gives you all the manuals everything all in one place so once I found out sort of what I needed I decided I'd call Summit tractor called them got through to their department and asked them if they sold a 50 hour maintenance kit they said they did and it was 96 dollars plus thirty dollars for shipping so around 126 dollars for the oil filter the fuel filter and two hydraulic filters so then I had to go up to my local Tractor Supply Which is closest thing I have and I bought all the oil needed so I got the hydraulic oil and then I've got the front axle oil and the engine oil and that cost me about a hundred and eighty dollars and that's with tax so around here and with everything as it is right now for me to do this 50 hour maintenance it comes right in in at around 310 dollars so let's go ahead let's dive in and start doing this 50 hour maintenance so one of the first things the 50-hour booklet tells you to do is washing I just took the hose and then I sprayed it off to get a lot of the dirt off but I'm going to wash my tractor at the very end just because I know I might get some oil here and there or some hydraulic oil here and there and then I don't have to go and spray it off again but one of the next things it says to do is re-tighten all the Fasteners and check the rear view mirror mirror holders so all around the tractor you got these so just going around with Phillips head screwdriver and just tightening those up to make sure all these pieces around the tractor are all nice and snug and tight and then for the rear view mirrors it's just you pull this little piece back and it's got a nut on one side and a locking nut on the other and so just putting a wrench on there to make sure those are still staying tight so the first thing we're going to do is we're going to start on some of these grease points and the first one is the brake pedal so if you're on the brake pedal side of the tractor right underneath near the back wheel come right through here mine was right back in here I had to move some dirt that was on it pop that on there give that a squirt or two it should be good okay let's go to the next one so I'm off to the right side of the tractor right now and the next one is the power steering cylinder and I found it easiest to go in on the brake side of the tractor and come in and this right over in here that's the front wheel on the brake side and so right on the back of this long cylinder there's a grease point so just put that on there and give that a couple squeezes also so the next one third one is almost right above where that last one was so it's right right here is where the last one was way back in here behind the cylinder and right up above right here there's a little grease point so that'll be the third one so the next two are right behind the front wheels and right behind the front axle so as you can see right in here where my hose is going right underneath this thing there's a grease point on each side of the tractor Behind these wheels so the last couple that it says in the book for the tractor is the top link right back here let's take our Grease [Music] now those are all greased up so the next thing is the fuel filter and that is right there and so what's interesting is the first thing says to shut down the petcock and that's the weird thing I don't see any shut off valves my old John Deere just had a little turn thing he turned and it stopped the flow and I even pulled off the backing piece back in this tractor to follow this whole fuel filter and I see where it goes right into the tank and then it comes out and it comes down into here but there it doesn't look like there's any shutoff valve unless I am completely missing it I don't see it so I guess I'm just going to try to take this off and put one back on as quick as possible okay so we're getting get ready to take the old one off put the new one on and the manual does say take a little bit of new engine oil and put it around that gasket okay set this right over here I'll take this off and try to swap it out pretty quick all right oh there we go down there nice and snug that I have a decent amount of diesel all over the ground and then the pan so I guess the next thing after you replace the fuel filter is air bleeding of the fuel system so it says switch on the ignition key to the start the electric pump Zoom purging the air out of this one what you're going to do is turn the tractor to the on position to get that pump moving the fuel through and this bolt right here you will take and unscrew it until you start seeing fuel coming through and there will be bubbles in it and once those bubbles stop you'll tighten that back down right underneath the hood back here underneath the big air filter right here this bolt we have to do the exact same thing so we have to loosen it and then wait for your bubble free fuel to come out and then we can tighten it back up foreign but that was really hard to tell when the fuel was free of bubbles I just let it out a decent amount and tightened it back up the bad thing about that bolt is you're going to have tons of fuel flying everywhere and that one is a number 12 instead of a 13. so I'm on to the changing the oil and oil filter so one of the first things it tells you to do is stop the tractor on the side of the road on level surface and drain the engine oil and then oil pan by removing the drain plug sort of the hard thing to do was they didn't tell you where the drain plug was but I'm going to get up under the tractor and show you where I found it I found out where it was by going and looking at some of the Solus tractor manuals because this is a Solus tractor so I found that manual went underneath and there are actually two plugs that you have to undo and they're hiding behind some of the under mount Framing and you have to undo both of those then get the oil out so let me show you where those are so right now I'm between the side step and the front wheel on the forward and reverse pedal side and underneath here you can tell this is a bracket right underneath the tractor and here's a part of the bracket also and right in here find the black casing that's holding the oil so right in here this is your bolt that you need to take out and I tried to use a half inch socket and it's a number 22. tried to use that on there and it was too big to fit in between the gaps so I had to go down to my 3 8 socket with the number 22. and just a reminder you're gonna have to go on both sides because there's a bolt right here and then on the other side there's another bolt you have to take out so it'll drain all the oil and you're just not getting some of it so if yours is like mine that bolt was painted over so it took a little coursing but I finally got it so now we're on the second side and it is really hard to be able to squeeze the socket and everything up in there but I was able to at first I didn't know if I was gonna have to take this whole Bolt out to be able to do it but I finally got a hold of it so let's go ahead and drain this second side [Music] this is one reason too maybe better to wash your tractor after because this whole platform doesn't allow that oil to drain straight down it hits that and just disperses it both directions let's finish getting this thing out of here once you get it a decent Mount loose you can probably just put your fingers in there and screw it out the rest so as you can tell there was quite a bit of oil in there but if you would only done that one side you would have still add all this old oil in there so we'll let that drain and then get that put back on then we'll head towards the filter so for this oil filter I'm up on the side that's got the Ford end reverse pedal and it is back up in here so took my 3 8 wrench and this thing was on there good I don't know if it was just the paint that was holding it on or what but it took quite a bit of doing and it was in a tight spot but I finally got it loosened so right back in here is it once you get it loosened take it all the way off so I've got the new filter right here and I've got my oil mobile and it's the 15W40 so I'm just going to stick my finger down in there a little bit of oil on it that's what they always say to do and take some new oil and put it all over that gasket before you install it now that we got that done we're gonna take that one put it right back up in there and I'm gonna clean that off a little bit before we do yeah and I can tell with it being painted that was probably what was binding it up so this first time it's probably going to be the hardest time then after this should be a little bit easier when getting that off now it's time to take this and put it back in there [Music] people and tighten that up and then I'll get out my little oil cap piece put it on there and tighten it up just a little bit more so I'm on the board and reverse side you can usually see this filter right here pretty good but right up above it right up in here this is what you're going to take off and that's where the new oil is going to get poured down into now we're two filling it back up with engine oil make sure your drain plugs at the bottom they're both put in and tightened up good and right here this is the fill cap that's what it looks like it doesn't unscrew it just pulls right out and I've already got my funnels down there and this again is what I'm using 15W40 that's what I picked up from Tractor Supply and on the chart it says this engine will take 1.1 gallons so I'll put this full gallon in and check it and start filling it up a little bit by a little bit until the dipstick looks good there's one full gallon so put the dipstick in and see what we're eating at so check the dick stick and it is right in between mid and Max and so I'm gonna go ahead and close it back up and then at the very end also once I start it up let it run for a little bit then turn it off and check it again it probably needs to fill it up a little bit just so it'll pump it all into the filter and stuff pop or drain plug back in there not our drain plug to fill cap okay that's in there that should be good for the engine oil so next up we're going to work on the front axle oil change so let's get everything ready to do that so the first thing I did before this was I took out the bolt that was above the front axle on the brake side and took that bolt out it was a 16 millimeter and then I unscrewed this little bolt even though it's not it didn't say in the manual where it was this is it right here it's really small it is a number 10. so I loosened it up and I'll let all that drain out it's right here is where we fill up the front axle and it was a number 16 socket so I'll put my little funnel in there and what I'm going to be using is this heavy duty s-a-e 80w 90 gear oil and it says we need 0.7 gallons and so that equals out to 2.8 quarts so I've got just about three quarts here so we're going to go ahead and fill this up so we had that all filled up so I put that bolt back in it was a 16 millimeter and it says if this is full and where it needs to be it will be touching the bottom of the bolt so that's how you check that so let's go to the hydraulic system now okay so we're underneath right now and this is where the whenever they release the mid Mount mower it'll go and so when doing this hydraulic change they've got four bolts they say you need to take out which is this one right here and it's got one straight across from it on the other side this bolt right here and then one back a little bit further we're gonna start trying to get those out so you might have to hit them with the hammer a few times just to loosen up and try to get that paint to come undone okay now we're in business so again that was a 24 millimeter hopefully you'll have some better luck with me but if you can't get them to turn like I did hitting them with the hammer a little bit seems to help and just so you know there should be about six and a half gallons of this stuff coming out [Music] so all these they've got a magnetic tip on them so you'll need to clean those off because it takes any little metal shards out clean those off clean off each one of these spots let's put them right back on in [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] we're on to the hydraulic filters there's number one right here well I'll tell you what that thing was a beast trying to get off it does not want to come so bound up by the paint so if you can't tell I started the paint started coming off because I was pulling on it it used to be this collar and they painted over it it's all those seams up in there we're all painted over didn't want to budge at all [Music] [Music] there we go now onto the filter on the other side so this last hydraulic filter so we're on the brake side right between the step and I got it started okay you got the pliers out got that to come off put it on the new one cleaned off take a little bit of oil put around that gasket okay so the next piece it looks like is the hydraulic suction strainer which is right back in here you can see it has a little yellow tag on it we're going to be taking the hose clamps off of it and getting it out [Music] [Music] so as you can tell there's still some hydraulic fluid left from that and on this side right over here if you can see my finger I unscrew this hose clamp and the one on the other side and there's one back in here unscrewed it to be able to move this piece a little bit more drain a little bit so that's what that part looks like got it out so it says hold the strainer in the left hand and remove the wire clip and then the magnetic strainer from the housing with the help of the right hand fingers so if you can see on this side if you can see that it's got this little pinch clip pinch it and that should come right out yep pinch that there's that little metal clip comes out it says remove the magnetic strainer from the housing okay after that it says unscrew the nut and support and remove support cup okay so there's that it's got the metal shavings on it and then what we need to do is we need to unscrew this little thing right here and we'll take this black piece off so if you want to you can use a socket set and it is a number 13. so stick that in there we'll get that loose [Music] that off so we've got that out the symbol support the cup and remove the Sheep the Heat so this little metal piece right there comes right off pull it off and we're going to clean this whole part off all this metal particles a little bit we're going to take out [Music] five o'clock here [Music] and all we do is we go right back get that straight back on it slide it down into there then we take that support cover put it on there screw that right washer right back on tighten it on there and tight I'll take my socket tighten it up a little bit more so we'll be moving around all good and we're going to take this put this right back in there that and we'll take that little clip that we had between our fingers hold that a little bit tight slip that right back on in there and that should be good for that now it's just putting it back in now it's time to put this piece back on if you can tell you need to make sure the arrow is pointing towards the front of your tractor and have it just like it was when you took it off the next thing we're going to be doing is we're going to be filling it back up with hydraulic oil and that is right here which hopefully you should know because you should be checking that every once in a while to make sure you're still good so just spin this out when you do this make sure the three point is all the way down that off we'll start filling it up so when filling this it says it takes 6.6 gallons so I got a five gallon jug of this and this is from Tractor Supply and this is the iso 32 and I got a two gallon one so I should have a little bit left over so I'm going to start go ahead and start pouring this one in this [Music] comes down you should have about 1.6 gallons left to go foreign okay that should have us pretty close we'll get that tightened back up we'll start the engine up Let It Go and I'll take it over to the garage [Music] okay so now we're gonna get underneath the hood until here's our coolant level mine's right in between so I'm all good there if you need to you can add coolant through there [Music] so what we've got our dust cover thing right there which I've got some in there we're gonna take that out the air compressor and we're going to blow it out okay we've got that cleaned out now they say you can blow from the back of the engine through the radiator clean out any of that if you need to so I'm going to get right behind here I'm going to put some air through there do the other side [Applause] back let's sad one more time okay now we're going to take our screen pop back in there the next what we need to do is we need to get the air filter that's in here so I already started doing this a little bit but it's got a clip on the top and there's one underneath on the bottom and then there's this little piece that stretches across and holds this whole air filter in place this little piece goes right over the whole top and holds it down so now that I took that out and raise this up get the cap off so it's the that's how it locks in over the top and there's one on the bottom so I've got a microfiber cloth and I'm just going to clean this out a little bit and blow it out with their compressor cleaned out nice and good so this air filter just pulls right out and mine is pretty dirty they say on the first first time you do this and just take your air compressor and just from the inside set sit there and take some air so it'll push all the dirt out of it [Music] [Music] now that I've got that blown out we're coming just try to clean some of this up maybe put a little bit of air back in it just a little bit get out any dust that's back in it [Music] I'm just going to take my microfiber cloth just clean around the outside of it where it seals good okay and we're going to reinsert that back in there and we're going to take the cut piece Bring It Around that's where it lines up try to get that bottom one first bottom one's just a little awkward okay now to put the little strap piece back on foreign that should be good for the air filter so and I think the last thing that needs done is just checking the PSI on the tires and then torquing the lug nuts so I found in their booklet online that it says that for the front tire it needs to be between 20 and 22 PSI and the rear tires are 14 to 16 PSI and then when you come time to torque the lug nuts looks like the front wheels are supposed to be at 53 pounds and the back ones are supposed to be at 103 pounds so I am done with my 50 hour maintenance it definitely took a lot longer than I was thought it would thought it'd be only a couple hour thing ended up being a little bit more just because of some of it was because they painted it so when they painted it all those bolts that needed to come out were painted in they were a lot harder to get out what I found was the easiest thing to do is take a hammer and hit some of those bolts just a couple times to help break that paint loose so you can get those bolts off and even the filters took a lot to get off I don't know if you can see this but I put a pretty big ding into this one trying to get this thing off it took everything I could to get it off and even this other filter dinged it up pretty good and I bought a brand new filter changer and that thing is all jacked up so luckily I had that I got it off but throughout this whole thing you know having that manual was really nice but at the same time I wish their pictures in the manual would have been a lot better more specific and even telling you where the drain plugs were on a couple of things they didn't tell you where the drain plugs were so I had to go and search and luckily you know this tractor is a soulless tractor so I was able to search the Solace Brands and sort of get an idea of where they were at so I was able to figure everything out but another handy thing is even though they give you a paper manual downloading the summit tractor app that is probably going to be one of your best friends you can go on there and then you can pull up the PDF of it and you can do find on page you can search for what you need just like the tires I wasn't finding in the maintenance so I just went in there typed in PSI searched all the pages found the exactly what I needed so download that if you've got a summit tractor it'll be a really handy tool but I'm going to in the description leave the links for everything that I bought the engine oil the hydraulic oil the front axle oil and then I'm going to also list out what these filters are the names of them and numbers and so hopefully this will help you out thanks for subscribing thanks for hitting that like button and we'll see you guys later
