The comedic version. Standby. Cue! What? She's leaving. If she leaves... Okay. (First meeting with Kim Junhan) You must be tired. (First meeting with Kim Junhan) It's okay. Where'd you do your military service? I served as Army Corps of Engineers in Yangyang. You drove? Mostly that's what they do, but I did administration. Army Corps of Engineers administration? If you get to know the right people, (Unlike Lieutenant Ahn, he had it easy) you get to work comfortably. I was lucky. (Why they're meeting) It'd be totally different from your One Spring Night role. That role was sort of a loser. He was a very realistic man. You did so well, that people loved to hate the character and your filmography shows aside from Prison Playbook... I recently watched Sunset in My Hometown. You often play roles that are bad guys. I feel like you like that sort of thing. I do a little bit. In Anarchist from Colony, you were a bit like that too. But I don't go in looking for jerk roles like you'd think. It's the opposite. I start thinking should the character be played like such a cool guy? So you're not into that, huh? I don't know. I just do what comes to me. I think I'm sort of a jerk deep down. You can't hold back. That's the fun of it. We didn't see much of it in Prison Playbook and you don't seem like it but as I said before you fit the distant but warm guy. You'd be good at that. (Characteristic he doesn't seem to possess) He's different than roles you usually play. Are you okay? What do you mean? Do you have a cold? No. Then, can you quiet down? Stop sniffling. Hey. Go anywhere else and you're dead. Whatever. I figure you get offered those often. After One Spring Night, I figure you'll get lots of casting calls. I do? I'm not sure. - You don't? - No. So... He has to make us think he's cool and make us swoon. I wonder if I can do that. That's why I ask. Can you hold that other stuff back? Oh, can I? Prison Playbook's Jiwon was like that. Sure, if that's my intention. (Very serious now that he's talking about his acting) (He reads another character's lines other than Chihong's) (Yong Seokmin's lines) What? You're off? Heading to the clubs again? No, I'm not. Or just going home? I work the day shift today. Then, why are you here at seven? Because I work the day shift. But it's night. It's morning. What? You really seem to have a hard time understanding. The tumor is inside the nose toward the back of the head. It's in a bad place. If we open the cranium toward the base, it'll be dangerous. We do what's called a TSA, an endoscopy through the nasal cavity. But Dr. Min isn't an expert for it. But Dr. Min said it wasn't a difficult surgery. He said to trust him. I like Dr. Min. I don't want a different doctor. But it's your life, isn't it? I wouldn't be recommending something that's bad for you. I explained it to you. Can't you get through your head? Do as I say, okay? You don't know any better, so just do as I say. You didn't understand, did you? I can't make it any easier for you. (Do Jaehak's lines) I'm sorry. That's not good enough. Get it together, please. We're close. (Finally Ahn Chihong's lines) Did you call Professor Chae Songhwa? Her phone was off so I left a message. She has a lecture today. She'll text back right away. She teaches? Yeah, she gives lectures, performs lots of surgeries, carefully looks over theses for her students and attends conferences too. She even goes hiking and camping on the weekends. And still she is always here at seven right on time. How is that possible? We call her the superwoman. I named her that. (Unrestricted acting from both humor to serious tone) They're in the lobby. He'll be here with Dr. Hwang. Actually... To be honest, I wanted to give you this one. Dr. Ahn? (Third year resident, Ahn Chihong) He plays the role of a lead character's love interest and he's forward. He has feelings for his professor, Songhwa. (Must show ardent crush that grows) (But needs to be distant too) He'll only be in season one which is why we could ask you because there's no pressure of returning for another season. He'll be on for season one and leave in a dashing way. But we won't say that from the start, because then, it means it feels decided, so we'll say it at the end. That's how you should think of it. (Wanted him to play Ahn Chihong) But you keep making us laugh. My desire to be funny creeps up. (Puts that desire away) Looking at the pattern of roles you've done, this would be good for your career. We can show that you could be a cool guy. (Unexpected character to be cast for this role) Let's think about it. What do you do when you want to play drums? (Izi / Top song, Emergency Room) (Used to be a drummer) There are practice studios all over the place. If you join us, you can teach him to play the drums. Consider it your chance to do a role that's a good guy for a change. Okay. I know you'll want to do otherwise, but this role isn't like that. He's a military academy grad, and was a lieutenant. But you don't have to play him like some cold military type. Of course, you can tell he's regimented from that. But you'll see he's got a soft side that's down to earth. (Officially hands him the script) I look forward to working with you. If people say you seem really great in that role, that'd be a win for us. No way. You never know. (Beasts that Cling to the Straw, movie that was waiting to be released) Straw? Not yet. I hear you play a perverted husband. (Transformed into bad guy role) Yeah, he's a sick guy who beats his wife. (Worked with Shin Hyunbin three times) You don't know Jeon Mido, do you? Not at all. (Only knows Kyungho from Prison Playbook and Hyunbin) (First table read) (Awkward) (Awkward between people he doesn't know) (Moves near someone he does know) You're the only one I know here. Really? (Mido and him say hi) What? Nothing. I came over because I know you. (Awkward though they know each other) Sit here. You sure you know each other? - We're close. - Really? I figured. I'm Kim Junhan. I've watched a lot of your shows on TV. You look familiar. (Songhwa and Chihong meet for the first time) How do you know each other? We did two movies together though it seems we won't act much together. (Regular surgery team and neurosurgery team that don't meet often) Dr. Bong, right? This is Dr. Ahn Chihong. (Dr. Bong is feeling lonely) Chihong, Chihong? (Likes it) (To be continued in two months) Watching you the way we have, you're more the type we should ask how not to do something rather than how to do something. (Which is why his roles are always so innovative) Whether that's what you want or not, this might be hard, so build the character when the scripts come out. I'm counting on you. I'll do my best. Thank you. (That's how Kim Junhan) (became Dr. Ahn Chihong) (And) All the staff and cast are famous for being so cheerful. That's how we became so close. I also did Prison Playbook, so this is my second time with the staff. So it feels like we're a family. So... I really miss that. (Q. What does this character mean to you?) Ahn Chihong is kind of mysterious. Someone who makes you wonder about him. Every time I got the script, I was shocked. I was like "Huh?" This is the scene? He's a surprise to me. The script was like that for me. (Q. What was the most memorable scene?) The one that got so much love from the audience, if I had to pick one. The one at the camping site in Yeonin Mountain. I went to see Dr. Chae. Everyone talks about that scene even though it was in an earlier episode. It was a tough shoot that day. We were short on time during the shoot and the sun was setting, so it felt like a battle. We had to really focus from what I remember. But the director worked his magic and it came out beautifully. But actually that very day, the staff was saying it looked like we're filming Memories of a Murder. (How it looked on set) They asked what kind of scene it was. And the director reminded us that it was supposed to be romantic. Yeah. I wonder if we have a "making of" for that scene. (Got dark before they got halfway through it) One, two, three, action! (Staff and actors very focused) (Ended up being a romantic scene, not a horror one) 104, right? Over here! Come here! What are you doing here? What do you mean? I said I'd come. What are you doing here? What do you mean? I said I'd come. I never said I wasn't coming. Sit. - Have some coffee. - Thanks. You're in those shoes again. What? I got those shoes for you. What? Oh, those shoes... I bought them for you. (Q. Any last words?) Chihong is... Referring to myself like that feels weird. But Dr. Ahn Chihong won't be on season two, but now, I'll cheer on the cast while I tune in and be a part of season two that way. I'm sure Chihong is somewhere working as chief resident doing his best somewhere out there. I'd be grateful if you thought of it that way. And if ever you need Chihong to come back, he'll be ready. I'll be ready. I'll run right over and fill in the spot. I'm sad to say goodbye. Thank you. I can't stop thinking of anything else but sad things. (Can't help feeling sad about leaving) I'll really miss everyone. I'll come visit. I'll just go visit the set and cheer everyone on. I feel it's my duty to go actually.
