[Music] hello everybody well we are in Nikko one of the most beautiful places here in Japan for breakfast we had a couple of enqueue bands but guess what we're hungry on this trip we're going to try to sample as much of the local specialties as we can along the way we're trying to show you some popular tourist spots as well so let's go our day starts here at toe blue Nikko station just a two-hour ride away from Tokyo on the Express train we recommend enjoying some a Cuban on the train ride over it's really one of the best things about train travel in Japan first things first let's try one of nickles special snacks Nikko is a famous for Yuba we are here at the Sakaya in front of the Tobin Eco station and they sell one of the most popular snacks here in eco this is the again Yuba Manju and the inside is filled with sweet Azuki beans or uncle let's give this a try itadakimasu oh Cecotto hmm sounds akuto super-psycho to super crispy on the outside salty on the outside but sweet on the inside sweet and salty combination mm-hmm that's amazing well I know why is this famous me too and this makes me more excited to see what else they have here in Nikhil I bought very unique beer here it's made with soba buckwheat galaki mas yes soba I can't believe it interesting only two or three shops we can buy this sphere in eco it's very unique flavor in one word its earthy beer [Music] yeah we found something else guys this is from the shop card you Danika home PO what they offer here are these rice balls onigiri which are wrapped not with nori but with the you bombuh the inside is kind of like a regular onigiri but seasoned cooked Ariza - chief doctor oh oh very unusual texture because the rice is soft and the Yuba is soft as well I'm so used to eat onigiri with nori the crispy nori very very unusual isn't it a really good is this regular wire is just mochi rice Moochie right it's mochi rice no wonder because it's stickier than normal you know this just makes me hungrier and hungrier so I get my food yes applause so we're looking for that you bar restaurant we're kind of lost but fortunately the people here are super friendly the locals here and as you can see this man this local man is walking us to the restaurant so right now we're walking on the Main Street of nickel it's a mix of modern conveniences and really traditional looking shops I really like the feel of this place so we're at this restaurant called Zen and they specialize in yuba dishes this Zen restaurant is really beautiful and I'm surprised how modern it is and we ordered this set this is 2,000 yen and it's an incredible array of food here this is a UMass sushi with Wagyu this is Japanese beef on the inside the outside is that you buy that tofu skin that I was talking about it's a mountain wasabi so I'm gonna put a little bit of that on and this was Happy's chunky I'm surprised it's chunky you're gonna dip this into this very special sauce and it's white is it is not soy sauce this is actually soy milk very interesting oh my god this is really good it's very soft tender 12 the skinnin but it really goes well with that Wagyu because that Wagyu is really rich and fatty [Music] this is a key is called the human or Niko sweet and dry this taste has both flavor that's interesting okay here's a side dish I think this is tofu with some wild mushrooms deep-fried eggplant that's shishito pepper deep-fried Yuba defied Yuba and shrimp this is simmered in a broth it's a shellfish called Welk and I'm not sure what that is maybe seaweed or something now this dessert is a tonews ends ie I think that Azuki beans just a Yuba what is that I do taste soymilk that's for sure it's like much of pudding inside soymilk this is the shiratama mochi it's like a mochi ball oh yeah we're so good I'm so good if you like mochi gonna love this so we just had a fantastic lunch at this restaurant called Zen it really was delicious I was amazed at how good tofu skin could be so now we're on our way to tosho-gu shrine one of the most popular attractions here in Nikko [Music] hey guys so we've arrived at the entrance of the tosho-gu shrine this is a world heritage site it's a very beautiful place a beautiful shrine I've been here once a long time ago and I'm so glad to be back you know what I'm so happy it's not raining I think it was raining because the ground is wet [Music] hey guys so we're inside the grounds of the shrine and it's fantastic I mean the details are just incredible and right now we're approaching the euro main gate which is one of the most popular gates in Japan [Music] hey guys so we arrived at kcon Falls after a 30-minute Drive now just to let you guys know you guys can get here by taking a bus from Nikko station so no problem even if you're not driving unfortunately it's raining pretty hard so what we're gonna do is we're gonna go check out the falls first and then after that we're gonna go look for some more street food for you guys [Music] as you can see it is cloudy and foggy usually the Falls behind us is approximately 300 feet it doesn't look like that right now but believe us it's really beautiful we have to come back for you guys again when it's a clear day it's cloudy it's gray but you know what it's still beautiful [Music] right outside the cable pause are these little vendors here which sell what kind of street food and first thing we got today is this a human eye you is a freshwater fish it's a whole fish where do we start that like a boss tastes like a really fresh fish simply salted the skin is crispy which I like there are bones in here so you have to be careful oh that's nice the flesh is really flaky really nice very fresh I really should be eating more fish so this is great [Music] right next door is a job that sells you Bach Choral can I remember you by is that tofu skin that is so popular here in Nikko and that is incorporated into this clock and I also heard that this also has soy milk inside mm-hmm check it out guys oh the Yuba is not incorporated into the crock it's actually just embedded into in normal croquette and even a potato part tastes a little bit different because that soy milk that's mixed into their potato mixture there is absolutely no meat in this one like regular croquette so you don't get that umami from the meat totally different taste from a regular croquette so right across from that last shop we're here at this place that specializes in something contra goes off go again there's supposed to be an entire yo sign inside a crack at so far only potatoes but you know what the potatoes in this one is a lot sweeter to the last one I think I actually prefer the potatoes than this one no Ghilzai app maybe one more bite so much potatoes I finally got to the gills of people look that's the inside of the kill zone and that is the gills of wrapper can you guys see that goes a wrapper gilsu feeling potatoes crispy outer panko crust once you get to the Ghilzai it's actually not bad this is something I would love to replicate at home Eco is located in here it's no Meah city which lumiose city it's famous cool gyoza maybe so they made this do Zack Crockett to be honest with you this is pretty good but I think I can make it better okay guys so we were planning to take you guys to a warmer place some place called the San Java head of marshlands which is supposed to be really beautiful but it's really cloudy it's rainy it's so foggy Muay Thai it's not gonna be worth it going up there so instead we're gonna drive back down to Nikko city and hopefully we'll find one more thing to eat for you guys so sorry guys but I guess that's nature [Music] okay guys this is a last meal in Nicole and I'm really really excited and this looks really good I got myself a bowl of Yuba ramen I'm gonna try the soup first yeah that looks so good cuz it's so cold today talking awesome oh that's really nice it's very clear and light but it does have a lot of umami and it's good it's actually really good hmm oh yeah that's so comforting the noodles are perfectly al dente the noodles really take the flavor of the soup it's really nice this looks like Yuba the tofu skin with some meat filling on the inside mm-hmm yes surprisingly flavorful the outside is you about which is tofu skin the inside is kind of like a filling of a kill top it was like garlicky oniony there's onions garlic meat really yummy I love that mine is even so it's very simple Lord oh you go first I meet you Bob this epazote - cheap labor very well mmm needs murders are not evenly cut so it must be handle cut I like this a hand cuts texture hmm and this bowl of ramen has a lot of different ingredients there's Menma bamboo shoots there are snow pea stores at Naruto and there are Kiku de Guerre and green onions there are even regular sliced onions in here I haven't had one of these old fashioned type of ramen in a long time I like it I really do I miss ramen like this so we've come to the end of our food tour here in Nikko everything was pretty damn good but my favorite has to be that you bought sushi with that walk you inside oh man that was just amazing my favorite one
