this one i've waited a long time to do well maybe not that long about a few days so anyway during the 1960s with the insurgent civil rights movement and the dismantling of the jim crow system with police brutality and civil unrest at an all-time high for african americans in july 1966 created by writer editor stan lee and jack kirby the writer and artist chose to invent a new superhero that would reflect the signs of the times ladies and gentlemen marvel's black panther his first comic appearance was in fantastic four in 1966 the black panthers tale began centuries ago when a huge meteorite made of a rare mineral now known as vibranium crash landed in the fictional african nation of wakanda the first wakanda king black panther bashing harnessed the mineral and used it to nurture his nation prince t'challa would later become king after defeating his uncle king saran combined with his enhanced panther-like reflexes he divides his time as a king and crime fighter considered one of the eight smartest people on the planet he is a genius in physics and advanced technology and is a brilliant inventor rivaling that of even tony stark he also has been granted the strength and knowledge of every past black panther in wakandan history contrary to popular belief his name and character actually predates the founding of the black panther party by huey p newton in october 1966. before this time there were practically no black heroes that were created before him and none with actual superpowers in 2016 we comic book fans were treated to the lifelong dream of seeing black panther come to life through the wonderful artistry and incredible acting skills of chadwick boseman bozeman as black panther was the first to embody a live-action black superhero that children could aspire to see finally black boys had someone to look at on the movie screen that looked like them and that means a lot i'm story jay and that was your two minute black superhero history list
