hey guys this front again from lay kickers given marina and this quick video discussion today is gonna be on storage of dive gear now we're downstairs in our workshop or what we call a rental room where we store all our dive gear whether it's rental gear our personal gear as far as us as professionals here at the shop it's also our repair center where we work on regulators and I just want to show you a couple little things that we do to store equipment some things for you to think about now understand one thing that we dive literally seven days a week our gear hardly ever has time to dry out so that being said we hardly ever put it up in a bag or anything like that but there are certain things that you can do if you're going to be diving or if you're not going to be diving for several months of how you can store your gear to really prolong the life of it so I'm going to show you a couple little quick things if you notice here behind me is my dry suit hanging up here on the wall and all ideas just took two little boot hangars and I could hang my dry suit up by the boobs and that allows that suit to hit really dry really well I don't want to keep it folded up so to speak unless it's only gonna be a week or so before I dive again I do have a bag over here that I put it in for storage as far as if it's only gonna be a week or so but I want to hang that thing up just to make sure it can drip dry even before restoring it back in the bag just so that I'm not damaging the suit and I can prolong the life of it over here also behind me I have all our rental beasties and some of my personal BCS hanging up and if you notice I am using BC hangers to do that with and with any beasties you want to make sure that you put a little bit of air in them whether it's a fusion bladder or the old plastic style bladders you want to make sure that you have air in it so that those bladders are not sticking together now it's fairly cooled down here right now it's down in the 50s inside the workshop it's actually a lot colder outside it's down in about the high 20s or the high 20s low 30s but here in the workshop is pretty cool you want a good dry environments you don't want to damp environment anything like that you don't want anything where direct sunlight can come in so like the door behind me if the Sun was beaming down through the the window there of course I would have the blinds closed so that it's not shining on them BCS and tearing down the elasticity same thing if we go back here to the back you're gonna see here behind me is where most of our wetsuits are hanging now these are not our classroom wetsuits these are our instructors wetsuits that we wear as instructors when we're teaching classes some of them are just older style wetsuits and you will notice that the newer ones are on the standard wetsuit hangers we do have some hanging up on just standard hangers here it is important to always use proper hangers if you're gonna use the standard plastic ones like you get for your clothes under you buy the clothing store or something use four or five of them to really spread out that space you don't want to put any creases in your wetsuit or in that neoprene material itself over here on the other side we have all our fins hanging up and you can see I've got a whole boatload of fins and like I said most of these are our instructor fins this is something we don't rent at the shop masking and snorkel is always required by the students so a lot of these are our instructor fins or our salvage hands or anything like that so we got them hanging up a lot of times we try not to store as much as we can in bags and boxes if we're not going to be using it for a while this way it allows drip-dry gets it out of the way you're not creasing the fin pocket stuff like that here on the ground below me is part of our fleet for our tanks there's all the way back here to the back I'll show you we've got both steel and aluminum tanks and if you'll notice directly behind me there is a series of regulators and I think we've got about ten regulators hanging up back there and we just have them hanging up on a just a rack system so that they can drip dry and they're not getting kinked up and hoses stuff like that and also some of our accessories we have our masks hanging up here and then we have our accessory hangers for our boots gloves and hoods and stuff like that so this is how we store our gear on a day-in day-out if you don't have a lot of room all you got to have is just a small little closet space to hang this stuff up just please make sure you use the proper hangers wet suit hangers accessory hangers and BC hangers is all you need once you've got your BC hanging up you can actually drape your regulator over the BC hanger itself and it'll be just fine the store that way so guys we all know dive gear can be very expensive and we do want to prolong as much life out of it as we can it is lost saving equipment so we need to take good care of it guys I hope this tip helps you out however you decide to store your gear just make sure that you dry before you store it make sure you clean it real well get it your dear service on the annual or biannual basis whatever your menu your manufacturer recommends for whatever gear you have and just take good care of the guys I really appreciate you watching this video make
