[Music] you've done it off [Music] hi I'm Steve Harvey welcome to sounds of the seventies Thomas amen I feel like you [Music] I've been writing and presenting show called sounds of the seventies for about maybe six years now I'm a sixties man you know I was born in the 50s but I will say that in the seventies we they the guys could really really play [Music] I've never had a guitarist in the band you know and then I bring in Jim Krieger who is all guitar you know and he plays on make me smarter that wonderful guitar solo you know we can all see [Music] the story at the time in 70 the end of 74 was the ID sacked the band that I'd split up the first cockney rebel and it's not true I didn't mind I quite enjoyed the bad-boy image it's a good profile good career move you know but it wasn't true they walked out on me they walked out they wanted things I wasn't prepared to give and they said oh we're going off to do it for ourselves and I said well good luck so three of them deserted me and I wrote make me smile about that episode [Music] besides Allah [Music] [Applause] [Music] we've been successful I'd let that band successfully they went off and you never heard of them again it was never gonna be that easy guys and that was the song what the song is about it ain't gonna be that easy guys you're gonna come back and I'll be saying what didn't I told you so come up and see me and make me smile you know I'll give you a taste of make me smile pretty well the way it was conceived and originally written which was more like a slow blues because it was had time in my life [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you've done it all book and every called Paul do verbal make me smile changed my life I you know they call it my pension it's between me and my accountant and the taxman but it's been in lots of movies it's been covered a hundred and twenty-five times that I know of them it's played around the world yard I wish I had ten of them who has blue eyes how come your tale so many lies you come up and see me made me smile oh do you want you running wild [Music] [Music] going out tonight wish you all happy peaceful New Year [Music] you
