hey there welcome back to another episode in the at-home dive youtube channel my name is joey as always and today we're in the kitchen doing another classic favorite we're gonna be steaming lobster tails so sit back hit that subscribe button and let's dive right in alright friends today on the counter we have a really really simple list of ingredients and obviously the main ingredient here is two lobsters we're just gonna be cooking the tails from those because these are spiny lobsters so that's really all we have to cook we also got two tablespoons of Cajun spice here half a lemon and all we're really gonna need today is our little steamer basket so let's get started the first thing we're going to need to do is remove the tail from the rest of the lobster these are spiny lobsters so they got lots of little prickly sharp bits so it never hurts to grab one with a glove but then we're basically just gonna grab the tail itself with one hand and the lobster with the other hand and twist and just take the tail right off the shelf now let me have the tail separated what we're going to do is we're gonna go right in the middle of the lobster tail here as you can see there's a little bit of an opening where the vein goes up we're just gonna slice it with scissors all the way down make sure you don't go outside of the tail because you don't want to cut it in half you just want to go very all the way to the tip right here then we're just gonna take it and you see the part we've made that opens we're gonna crack it and open it up at this point if it's not cut all the way never hurts just to go ahead and run a knife down the middle to make sure now it's a good chance to go through and remove the vein too because you don't want to eat that so go through and get the digestive vein out of there and this one is ready to cook so we're going to go ahead and do the same thing to the other one again we're going to hold it right here and you see the vein here we're right with the vein and we're gonna cut it directly down the middle see the vein we're gonna pull the vein out you give it a slice just like that we have another beautiful lobster tail ready to cook it never hurts to go ahead and give these a good wash so I'm gonna go ahead and rinse them very thoroughly and I'll be right back as you can see we've given the lobster tails a nice little rinse there just to make sure we get any pieces of shell or vein that are left behind out of there and what we're gonna do here is we're gonna put a large pot on to the stove and we're gonna put just about an inch of water in there we're gonna go ahead and add to it the Cajun spice you can use all faiths if you like as well we're gonna go ahead and squeeze the lemon into it and we're gonna put the lid on and bring it up to a boil and we'll be right back before the water actually gets too hot it's never a terrible idea if you want to go ahead and drop the steamer basket into there that way you don't have to try to wrestle with it once it is hot so we're gonna go ahead and put it in there all right friends as you can tell got plenty of steam going on now and you can really smell the spices start to come through so we're gonna do is we're gonna go ahead and take the lobster tails and we're gonna place them directly in here on top of the steamer basket and we're gonna put the lid back on we're going to typically cook these for about 40 second per ounce of lobster tails so with this being 11 ounce lobster tails we're gonna come back in about seven minutes all right my friends it's been the six minutes and as you can see the lobster tails are nice and bright white and firm and we're ready to pull them out there we have it France that's how you steam Vallabh stir tale but of course every lobster tail needs a good amount of butter so we're just gonna go ahead and add the butter that wraps us up on how they would make a lobster tail comment below and let me know how yours turns out or if you decide to put yours with anything thanks for watching have a good day
