STAND UP CAMPER That Fits In Garage: Meerkat Trailer Tour

[Music] so i came from alaska down here to san diego just to see this trailer i'm coming down here just on my own as a small camper enthusiast the guys at little guys they just open the doors for me if you guys are new to the channel my name is drew my family and i take out small camper trailers throughout the state of alaska helping you to have a more simple and gratifying camping experience if trailers here's the meerkat it's about a thousand pounds you can tow with anything you stand up inside great for a two adults and a dog aluminum keeps it really lightweight it's got the table inside seating for four people has the wardrobe closet inside port-a-potty and you can cook inside too here we are at the front of the meerkat so it comes with the box of the front you've got the spare tire stabilizers on each of the four corners let's take a closer look here we go here's the front storage box unlatching that if we lift it off the cap you can see that you've got the battery in here it's got the grade at the bottom so anything you put in there if it's wet it's going to drain right out and you've got a solar plug on the outside so you can charge up from a solar panel just a portable one that you set out at the campsite it works really well to keep that up your way your lights and your fan are always good and you can also plug into 12 volt to charge up your phone and you've got stabilizers on each of the four corners so i'm going to grab the crank so we can take a look and see how that works there we go goes right onto this post here we're going to crank it right down it's got the nice wide sand pad so it's great in sand like this soft soil and it's the design of it is to stabilize it so when you're on the inside it's just rock solid it's not going to be moving around and we found that a lot of manufacturers use two stabilizers which is fine but you want a total of four just to give that extra stability and even though the meerkat is small just that extra mile having those extra two really makes a huge difference and then we started out with a window on each side which is which is good but we wanted to add more light because the more natural light you bring in just the better it feels so we added that third window in the back of course we've got the window in the front and then with the addition of the fantastic fan which moves air really really well it keeps the air flowing and makes it very nice inside so that made it just that much better and then back here this is where you plug into 110 power so that means the 110 outlets will be live inside so you can run appliances and also it's going to be charging the battery as well a lot of trailers have the leaf spring axle what the meerkat has is the rubber torsion axle by dexter which gives you independent suspension and makes it so each wheel can act independently so if you're going down a bumpy road the washboard it really takes it and evens it out now you have about a foot of clearance on this which is really good and it has the 13 inch tires so really it's perfect for any kind of terrain you're going to go down desert mountains beach anything like that takes it just fine now often as you're driving on your road trip on the way to campground you can actually see through the trailer a lot of teardrops are solid where they don't have the windows in the front and the back which makes you a little bit more you don't know what's going on behind you but with this it's designed so you can see straight through when the top on the meerkat has popped up it's six foot we can extend that up to a total of six foot four but when you want to put in your garage the top will come down and from the ground to the closed position on the meerkat that's six foot five and at six foot five that'll fit into andy's standard garage which is typically about seven feet the total length on the meerkat is 13 feet the body is nine and a half and then the width is five feet i bet you're itching to take a look at the inside of the meerkat let's take a look wow it just feels so open in here with all the windows on all the sides just makes it nice and open especially once we get that pop top up it's just going to make it nice and airy in here really spacious feel to it in the front area here we've got the whole kitchen set up portable stove goes right here you've got the electric water pump it comes with the ice box this one here has the refrigerator but yeah take a look at that solid wood cabinetry nice light birch color makes it feel very open as well lots of storage you've got the front area here for storage cabinetry here and then you got a wardrobe closet in the front as well too really nice open space plenty of open counter space for work as well all right guys let's get that pop top up getting some natural light and that let that breeze come through so i'm taping the carabiner off first latch goes up undo this side and then we're going to do the same for the other side carabiner comes off loop comes off and the lever now we do one side than the other this goes up you press right here you want to avoid this there's a scissor clamp so just in the middle press up and secure it with this lever then you can turn around and do the other side it doesn't really matter if you do it when the vents are closed or open like this either way it's just fine it's going to come in as it needs to what i like to do guys is see how it can come down the flap like that i like to tuck it in roll it up makes it gives it a really nice clean look got four of those vents really nice and airy opens it up it kind of pops up and you look out and you're kind of like a meerkat you look around and guys with this pop-up you've got plenty of full standing room so you can do what you need to at the kitchen here you can make your meal bring it over there to the kitchen to the table area and it makes it just really nice being able to stand up fully to change clothes move around set the meal there it's just perfect and we want to make the meerkat very simple with the water system so you have a portable water container like this you just grab at the store like two and a half gallons two of these will fit in there really easily and so you insert the fresh water hose right into here flip on the water pump and it's going to go right into there now you don't have a gray water tank and so that means you don't have to sanitize and you don't have to do any of that winterizing that you would have to with a typical rv so this is really going to keep your maintenance years down the road really simple and really easy let's open this up here it's the wardrobe closet so you can hang up clothes you also have a false floor right there and this lifts up and so you have all storage open from the top there all the way to the bottom of the trailer so really a big storage area there and at the top you've got a nice little shelf here and what i like to do is plug in my iphone to the usb outlet just set it right here and it's charging up the mirror cat also comes with a portable stove it's a butane cooktop so this just flips right over and the canister fits right into here that it comes with we also have an induction cooktop that's available so that runs off of 110 power but that doesn't add any heat to the camper during the summer so that's a really nice option as well underneath this bench is the porta potty this opens up like that lifts up it's got a string here that goes to this knob and your porta potty that's completely separate from the trailer just lives right here it's a wonderful thing to use it's got the fresh water tank up here and then the black water tank underneath before your camping trip you're going to put two and a half gallons of fresh water in through here and these bellows you press down on and it's going to circulate water so it all goes down here when you pull this lever out it's going to open it up so it's going to separate that barrier so it all is going to go into the tank underneath and then when it's full you separate it in the back with this lever right here now this is your fresh water tank so this can stay at the trailer the other one you grab like this with this handle right here and you can carry this cassette to any toilet anywhere so you flip this around take the cap off dump it out rinse it out if you can and then usually you're going to get a tube of chemicals that thin to here but you put like a tablespoon right into there just by opening it up again and you're good to go for the next time really easy to use very clean and the the chemicals that you put in will deodorize and make it so it's very mild so it's perfect fit for the meerkat and that way you're going to use this typically in the middle of night you don't want to go across the whole campground and makes it very convenient to have now this is what the standard upholstery looks like it's a light vinyl kind of a cream color and then you can choose whatever color you like for the inserts for the seat backs no extra cost now if you want something completely different you can pick out your own material at an upholstery shop and we'll install it all for free and that's a really nice way to customize the meerkat and make it really your own you do have the blinds on the all the windows you've got the led lights in the corners led bar light in the back and the front makes it feel just very light and open in here with the fantastic fan you do have three different speeds on there it's going to move air in or out so especially the windows open gives you really nice air exchange and also the table top you can attach this outside if you like this one was ordered with the second table base so you can even have this back area set up as kind of a lounging out area and you can have this table mounted up front so you still have seating and the back back as the same time and with a lot of rvs you have the table that's used as the surface for the the bed support but with this we found the parties usually outside when you're camping so this table you can take outside and use outside then you have these slats that slide all the way across and that's what's used for the support for the bed so really nice comfortable bed space we say it's a it's about a queen so it's good for two adults but drew's family is perfect for four really nice open space in here now i'm five foot nine and i have plenty of head room the top of the standard meerkat when it's popped up is six foot we can extend this up to six foot four for those individuals who need just a little bit more height so it will accommodate most people and with that pop-up system the meerkat is one of the very few meerkat trailers that will actually let you fit in the garage and stand up inside so i bet you're dying to know the price on this trailer and shawn is going to share it with you here in like 30 seconds but i just want to share one thing i noticed what i noticed is the whole time i was down at little guy trailers only one trailer left the lot that wasn't a meerkat i mean all these people came in to either get a teardrop or get a stand-up trailer and they left with this trailer and that's why i just want to share this one with you i think it's the trailer that blends both worlds the teardrop for many is just not quite big enough for you know long rainy weekends uh storing a lot of gear or family and then these stand-up trailers people see it and they realize oh man they're much higher than i thought i can't get this into a garage and then when they walk into it they feel like it's a lot tighter than they imagined so i just wanted to share that with you and share some of the happy faces i saw on the way out of the building that day new trailer owners brand new our very first ever picking it up today today going on the road first time campers dude yeah are you really yeah oh that's great over 65 and we're getting our first camping experience so where's your first camping trip going to be the first big one i think we're going to joshua tree you want to say hi to anyone yeah we want to say hi to our two
