Welcome to Professor's Basement and Beyond! Are you ready to transform your  unfinished basement staircase   into a beautiful and functional  space without breaking the bank?   With a budget of just $180, you can easily  create a stunning staircase that you'll love.   Just have some patience and  follow these simple steps! Supplies To get started, you'll need  the following supplies: Vinyl flooring (5mm) with   foam backing for the tread and nosing ($120) Melamine white panel (4x8) for the riser ($40)  PL 3X Premium adhesive or glue  suitable for foam boards ($20) Making the Nosing The most challenging part of this project  is making the nosing, which is about an   inch thick. To do this, you'll need to make a jig  to bend the vinyl plank into the correct shape. Start by ensuring that the groove of the  jig fits the thickness of the vinyl plank,   and that the opening of the nosing is 1 inch wide.   Starting at the bottom of the stairs, measure  the tread and cut a vinyl plank to fit.   Test the fit before moving on. To bend the vinyl into a nosing, insert the  vinyl plank into the jig and heat the backing   with a heat gun for several minutes until the foam  backing and vinyl are melted enough to be bent.   Be patient and make sure to move the heat gun  regularly so that you don't burn the vinyl. Once the vinyl is soft enough to bend, press it  into the correct shape and secure it with clamps.   Let it cool down for a few minutes.   Now the nosing is ready for installation! Before installation, measure and  cut an additional vinyl plank to   cover the rest of the tread and test  the fit with the nosing on the stair.   Cut the riser too so you can fit the  3 pieces together for each stair. Installation To install the stairs, apply the adhesive to  the stair or to the back of the vinyl floor   and press it onto the nosing. Then, glue the riser   and press it in place. Bevel the  top-edge of the riser for a tight fit. In this project, install the stairs from  bottom up and use the riser in each step   to compress the tread below it and the  nosing above it to create a tight fit. Finishing Up Congratulations, your staircase is now complete! I hope this video was helpful and informative.  If you found it useful, please give it a like   or subscribe to our channel. And remember,  if a professor can do it, you can do it too. Until the next time, may the  Lord bless and give you peace!
