hi everyone my name is laslum and in today's video i like to show you how to change the looks of your staircase if you got carpet and you like to change it for hardwood first of all you have to remove the carpet this painful painful process include nail removing staple removing text strip removing padding and also the carpet but after you finish this all and the surface is clean you can do the next step you can also remove similar time the rail or the railing or the pickets depends on you would like to keep it or it's gonna be garbage the different things you're gonna do with it this time all these pickets uh going to end up in the garbage bin we have already a metal um bolsters so that's what we are going to install later on on the stairs to get access to the boards or screws whatever the previous installer used to install the post you have to drill out the wooden plugs after you do this saw you can remove all those bolts or screws carpet is almost gone you can start to cut all the overhangs off with a circular saw make sure you use some longer three three and a half inch screws to the front of all the stair threads before you going to install the new solid stair threads make sure it's going to be fixed with these screws you want to eliminate later noise avoid noises squeaks you can also apply some strong glue between the riser and the stair thread and here we already installed some stair thread sand risers usually i use a pencil at the inner stringer and mark the top with an arrow and if you know the height of the riser you can already cut off a couple pieces on the table so usually i cut like six seven at the same time you can set your tables in an angle to cut the previous marked line mark the other side with the pencil be accurate and connect this lines lines with the pencil and cut it off use some strong glue for the riser and the stair threads usually i use always pl [Music] premium [Music] measure the depth of your stair threads measure the length measure the depth and according to these measurements cut your stair thread where you're going to install it was so after these cuts might probably you have to adjust to be make sure it's going to be gap-free if you have a traxxar you can use the track saw usually i set for five degree to cut my stair thread [Music] properly mark these points and you make these straight cuts with these tracks it's a piece of cake to make it nice somebody asked why we don't use any vacuum had this hose wasn't really a point we just cleaned up after the work but we have to of course we have we can hook this up to a vacuum use the multi tool to cut off that piece and it helps odd also for the one side open stair thread to nicely cut the remaining piece little little shape here and there and it's good to go make sure you check everywhere is good everywhere is nice make sure there is no gap tiny gaps you can feel but you don't want to see too many fillers on your staircase so make sure you do those all those steps to do a good job you can also use some cardboard streams at the top of your riser and this way actually there is some uh force by the time you try to hit it to the to the previous riser to make sure the bottom part is going to be gap-free you already measured these but make sure you can compress that cardboard and if you apply some extra glue at the end it's going to be a piece of cake and your stair is going to be gap 3 [Music] news [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] this time we use some metal bolsters what has a shoe and going to cover those uh those holes but it's pretty accurate it's i believe just maybe 116 bigger the horde and whatever is the size of the boaster nicely set for level you can compare to the [Music] top piece where you have to mark the line where you need to cut and this is the end when we already installed all the post railing and bolsters thank you for watching and please don't forget to subscribe to my channel
