so so so my um welcome to our texas schools week liturgy today we celebrate our teachers administrators staff and volunteers these are the people who make it possible for our school to exist and we are very grateful for their presence in our first reading from the letter to the hebrews we hear your need in terms to do the will of god and we receive what he has promised when we think of endurance we think of people who can work long and hard and there are no people who work longer or harder to make our school a success our principal miss cahill our teachers staff and volunteers in all the countless ways our staff and volunteers work are grateful for their loving contributions to our school community please stand and join us singing enter the journey [Music] will be yours [Music] is [Music] the kingdom is is [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen that was awesome the grace and peace of our lord jesus christ the love of god our father and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all and with your spirit thank you today we celebrate our catholic schools week mass today we also celebrate the feast of our lady of lourdes and so we ask mary the mother of jesus to be our heavenly mother and to pray for us in all our needs lord jesus you came to gather nations into the peace of god's kingdom lord have mercy lord have mercy you come in word and sacrament to strengthen us and make us holy christ have mercy christ have mercy you will come again in glory with salvation for your people lord have mercy lord have mercy may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life let us pray grant us o merciful god protection in our weakness that we who keep the memorial of the immaculate mother of god may with the help of her intercession rise up from our iniquities through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever i invite you to please be seated a reading from the letter to the hebrews remember how it was with you in the past in those days after god's lay had shown on you you suffered many things yet were not defeated by the struggle you were at times publicly insulted and mistreated and at other times you were ready to join those who were being treated in this way you shared the sufferings of prisoners and when all your belongings were seized you endured your loss gladly because you knew that you still possessed something much better which would last forever do not lose your courage then because it brings with it a great reward you need endurance to do the will of god and receive what he promises for as the scripture says just a little while longer and he who is coming will come he will not delay my righteous people however will believe and live but if any of them turns back i will not be pleased with them we are not people who turn back and are lost instead we have faith in our saved the word of the lord [Music] teach me [Music] teach me [Music] teach me your past [Music] teach me [Music] remember that your compassion [Music] because of your goodness [Music] is [Music] and teaches the humble his way teach me your ways [Music] [Music] hallelujah hallelujah [Music] m [Music] whoever follows [Music] [Music] hallelujah [Music] the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark word to your lord jesus went on to say the kingdom of god is like this a man scatters seed in his field he sleeps at night is up and during the day and all the while the seeds are sprouting and growing yet he does not know how it happens the soil itself makes the plants grow and bear fruit first the tender stalks appear then the head and finally the head full of grain when the grain is ripe the man starts cutting it with his sickle because harvest time has come what is god's kingdom like jesus asked what story can i use to explain it it is like what happens when a mustard seed is planted in the ground it is the smallest seed in all the world but once it is planted it grows larger than any garden plant it even puts out branches that are big enough for birds to rest in its shade jesus used many other stories when he spoke to the people and he taught him as much as they could understand he did not tell them anything without using stories but when he was alone with his disciples he explained everything to them the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ who taught jesus his alphabet okay think about it who taught jesus alphabet god well there was somebody on earth that was teaching them too who taught jesus his alphabet who mary his mom who do you think taught jesus how to count mary his mom and maybe his foster dad saint joseph had something to do with it too but mary was responsible for teaching jesus so many things because she was his mom and that's what moms do teach me your ways o lord that's a beautiful responsorial psalm that we sang today we have to be open to being taught it was a friend of mine he's a priest now and for a while he taught school in a school where they couldn't hear and so he had to learn sign language so he could teach the students and one of the most frustrating things for him is when one of the students was having a bad day and would sit there and just fold his or her arms and close his or her eyes because remember they can't hear and now with their eyes closed they can't communicate and it was so frustrating for him because how do you teach somebody when they're not open to hearing your language your your message your lesson so to be open to the lessons that we're supposed to learn now here at st pius attend school we have lessons that involve reading and writing arithmetic science social studies you name it all these different things that we're supposed to be learning here but the one advantage that we have is there's something else that we can learn here we can learn more about god we can learn more about jesus we can learn more about the holy spirit we can learn more about mary the mother of jesus and our heavenly mother we can learn more about all the saints and all those different things in the bible so we just have to be open to learning them today is the feast of our lady of lourdes there was a book that was written by franz verfel called the song of bernadette because starting february 11th in 1858 through july 16th of 1858 mary came back from heaven and appeared to this teenage girl bernadette subaru and she gave her messages not just for herself but for all the people and as a way of showing that she was really there and that she is the mother of jesus she ended up using bernadette to help bring forth a spring of water from the earth and they've since built a big grotto around it and people go there and sometimes as the people go into the water they're healed they're healed from all their physical ailments what a great miracle that is and so mary is still trying to teach not only jesus he's already learned but us she's trying to teach us more about jesus and she's trying to teach us about how to live our lives and we need to pray and we need to help each other and be good to each other wow she's a great teacher midge and have the responsibility of teaching jesus but she did it and she did it well i am so grateful that you're here i'm so grateful for our school for our principal and for all of our faculty and staff i'm so grateful that your families think it's so important that you come to school here and i'm so grateful for all the people that help support our school so that we have a place for you to come and learn not only about all those academic subjects but to learn more about god and jesus and mary and all the saints so i ask god to continue to bless you and your families i ask god to continue to bless our faculty and staff because you are among the best of the best and so may god bless you abundantly and may mary's lessons be in your minds and in your hearts and may mary's prayers be with you for any miracle that you or your family might need i invite you to please stand god has spoken to us in his word and so now in faith we speak our words of need to god our response is lord hear our prayer for our holy father pope francis our bishops priests and all who all those who shepherd god's church we pray to the lord r we pray for our principal mrs cahill our teachers staff and volunteers that god would pour out many blessings upon them and help them continue to be excellent models of pain patient love and enduring faith we pray we pray for our schools for all of our cath we pray for our school and for all catholic schools that we would be a strong community of faith an enlightened community of knowledge in an active community of service we pray we pray for the homeless and those who do not have heat that they would find shelter and warmth from the christian community we pray [Music] we pray for the sick and the dying that jesus would heal them and bring them comfort we pray lord hear our prayer we pray for our benefactors for those who have donated time talent and treasure to our school that they would be blessed a hundredfold for their generosity we pray [Music] we pray for those who have died recently and especially for ellen midwick whom we remember this liturgy may they know of the warmth of god's love for all eternity you pray for those who are in need of healing in all ways of body mind and spirit especially anyone among us hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary mother of god pray for us sinners noun at the hour of our death amen oh god we thank you for the many gifts you give us each day we thank you for the gift of our school it's families it's teachers its benefactors we thank you for all the gifts you give us through christ our lord invite you to please be seated blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth and work of human hands will become for us the bread of life by the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share the divinity of christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you fruit of the vine and work of human hands will become our spiritual drinks lord wash away my iniquity cleanse me of my selfishness and all my sins i invite you to please stand and pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father we offer you the sacrifice of praise o lord as we rejoice in commemorating the mother of your son grant we pray that through this most holy exchange we may advance towards eternal redemption through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation to praise your mighty deeds in the exaltation of all the saints and especially as we celebrate the memory of the blessed virgin mary our lady of lords to proclaim your kindness as we echo her thankful hymn of praise for truly even to earth's ends you have done great things and extended your abundant mercy from age to age when you looked on the lowliness of your handmaid you gave us through her the author of our salvation your son our lord jesus christ through him the host of angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence forever may our voices we pray join with theirs in one course of exultant praise as we now acclaim [Music] heaven and earth [Music] is [Music] is [Music] i invite you to please neil you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me a mystery of faith [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope salvatore our bishop and all the clergy remember our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god our lady of lords joseph her husband the apostles the martyrs saint pius the tenth and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever [Music] oh [Music] i invite you to please stand mary taught jesus many things his disciples asked him to teach them how to pray and so now let us pray the prayer that jesus taught our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign for ever and ever the peace of the lord be with you always thank you lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world grant us peace again i kindly invite you to please kneel behold jesus the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb lord i am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed what was that last word we just prayed my soul shall be healed healed so today when you come forward for a blessing you come forward for holy communion if there's anybody you know that could use the healing touch of jesus you can bring them in your hearts and so as you get the blessing as you receive holy communion you can be praying for that person that you want to be healed may the body of christ heal us and bring us to everlasting life may the blood of christ heal us and bring us to everlasting life [Music] god's greatest gift [Music] oh [Music] shall we yourself
