this is the day that the lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it listen saint paul church of jacksonville family good morning this is a beautiful day that the lord has made the sun is shining and you are alive you ought to give god praise right where you are listen don't take for granted the fact that you're watching this or the fact that you're breathing uh i am like what my grandmother said i have learned to thank the lord for a reasonable portion of health and strength because i realize that it is not of anything that i could have done but it is literally because of the grace and the mercy of the lord jesus christ that we are here together well listen happy sunday to you we are worshiping virtually together today we want to thank the lord for our bishop bishop john guns and pastor sanjanik guns who had the wisdom to understand that on a day like today it isn't just about corporate worship but it is about family coming together and so whether you are gathered around with your family or whether you're going to spend time with your family as soon as this is over bishop wanted an opportunity where you could still worship and still have an opportunity to enjoy your day so just before the service gets started want to share a few things with you we will be back in in-person worship next week again next week we will resume our in-person and hybrid schedule in welcome my friends to the saint paul church of jacksonville listen we are so excited that you joined us today virtually no one's in the sanctuary but the spirit of the lord is and he is working an amazing passage exodus chapter 3 exodus chapter 3 and as you have been blessed by our my ministry and our fine arts ministry i want you now to partner what they did with what god's gonna do today through the word of god watch this exodus chapter three verses two through five there the angel of the lord appeared to him as a flame coming from the middle of a bush wow moses saw that the bush was on fire but it was not burning up this is strange he thought why isn't the bush burning up i will go closer and see when the lord saw that moses was coming closer he called to him from the middle of the bush and said moses moses he answered yes here i am god said do not come any closer take off your sandals because you're standing on holy ground verse 10 through 12 say or reads is this now i am sending you to the king of egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country but moses said to god i'm a nobody that's key i'm a nobody how can i go to the king and bring the israelites out of egypt god answered i will be with you and when you bring the people out of egypt you will worship me on this mountain that will be proof that i have sent you i want you to hashtag today when worship meets you hashtag when worship meets you here's what's vitally important god is the greatest instigator despite the desire of many to hide and live inconspicuous god lovingly intrudes instigating encounters that are designed to bring us into a greater place of intimate understanding while ushering us into this coexistence of clarity and contradictions god as the only god can discover us hiding muted by fear and paralyzed by human failure and yet regardless of our unuttered inclination to simply be the infinite intellect invites us into purpose in essence god chooses us see to be chosen is about more than being selected from the crowd it's a process of emerging consciousness it's a process of emerging discovery it's a process of emerging awareness where god graces you with what is needed to execute with integrity your unique assignment in the world and in many ways god achieves this through worship in worship is where the inexhaust inexhaustible love of god and the incomparable mercy of jesus christ is extended to you while you are in conscious evolution experiencing the extraordinary revelation of god as your source by source i mean everything needed including relationships that are necessary for you to become the full expression of divine identity this requires process the meticulous design of the eternal to navigate you through the maze of uncertainty to a place of confidence in god through jesus christ and all this occurs in worship worship that allows us to endure the trauma yes even the trauma of today and this worship which empowers and enables us to endure trauma results in a simple and yet naive yes this yes oftentimes spoken in immaturity becomes the conduit to an amazing journey guided by the unthinkable and governed by the undeniable see for most of us this initial yes spoken in the context of worship is not the problem rather it's what emerges from it it is what we discover experience and must endure that creates tension this tension when managed appropriately deepens our dependency on god causing us through prayer to exclaim our insatiable need for god through transparent transformational relationship with jesus christ that is adorned in the garments of worship let me note that our relationship with jesus christ is not just about personal salvation but rather it is about us becoming whole so whole to the point that we become lights in a dark depraved world filled with pandemics and protests and police brutality and political polarization we live in a world of despair and god says i will create the kind of worship moments that will bring you into an awareness of the marvelous love of god through jesus christ who on the cross made the ultimate sacrifice here's the other thing being chosen is not just to say yes but to keep saying yes as god through the holy spirit discovered as god through the holy spirit discloses and avails his will to us it is our willingness to stay open to god who through process develops us in amazing and incredible ways and we become something that even the world cannot deny we become a transformed you but all this begins with an encounter with god instigated by a loving god with a reason for your life i need you to hashtag reason for living god then calls us into this amazing encounter and this is where we find moses for moses is one of the greatest examples of how god uses a worship experience to bring someone in to courageous clarity so that they can be released to walk out their call i want to suggest today that worship then is not just about to shout at the holler in the sanctuary but it is about a deep insatiable passion to live a life that honors god and god uses worship to offer you to himself and and he offers himself to you he shows us then as we watch moses how this burning bush becomes a marvelous symbol of worship how god uses the burning bush not only to get one man's attention but more importantly to create the conditions needed for the will of god to be revealed in the earth to a man who was designed for destiny as we look at this texting we see worship in its amazing shape and form but we also see that worship has purpose look at the life of moses and you will see a man who needed this encounter for he would have never have said yes to god on his own it took something extraordinary something miraculous and something unexplainable to awaken moses to who he was created to be this is what this is today for me it is a statement that god uses bushes to wake us up to destiny but what is god trying to do in the midst of worship what is god trying to do well god's meeting us in worship and he's accomplishing three things here's the first thing god through worship corrects us now what is needed to be corrected is incredible it is not seen as we noted but it is actually the issues of one's sense of self read verse 11 of chapter 3 and you will hear where moses really is he says to god i am a nobody how can i go to the king and bring out the israelites from egypt chapter four moses says no lord don't send me i've never been a good speaker and i haven't become one since you begun to speak to me i am a poor speaker slow and hesitant meaning he was a stutterer please note that moses was raised and reared in the lap of luxury and influence he was exposed to the brightest minds in egypt and he saw the best best that it had to offer chapter 2 verse 10 states that later when the child was old enough she the king's daughter adopted him as her own son she said to herself i pulled him out the water so i will name him moses see something happened that shifted him from this amazing beginning of exposure something seemingly canceled out this exposure we all remember the bold precacious moses who killed an egyptian for his cruel murder of a hebrew slave we recount how this affected him causing him to escape egypt for fear of his life now several years later we are reintroduced to moses who is now sobered by 40 years of inaction he has become timid and distrustful watch this of himself he now shrinks from putting himself forward listen at what he says who am i that i should go to pharaoh it's now the question that perplexes him what wait can i a foreigner 40 years in exile with the manners of a rough rugged shepherd expect to have the mighty monarch of all of egypt the son of ramses the great the inheritor of his power and his glory what weight do i have to influence him clearly moses has been shaken by life and the many awkward twists and turns this miracle of a man has become victimized by isolation and inwardly illegitimized by the inability to resolve life's issues moses no longer saw himself as capable of doing anything but watching gossip sheep for his father-in-law all of the cultural confusion has brought this man to a lonely lonely lowly place before god could release him then god had to correct him yes correct him by correction i mean a change that rectifies an error or an inaccuracy this is key because before you can live the life assigned to you god in love must rectify the faulty ways by which you see yourself the mismanagement of self-perception will paralyze you making you incapable of fulfilling god's plan it's imperative then that inner healing takes place i need you to hashtag inner healing it's imperative that you hear a deeper different healthier voice that speaks your value and not your failures this is what we're calling self-esteem for for all who seek to fulfill god's will you must see the good about you without drifting in the gnosticism malcolm x once said that we cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven that we are acceptable to ourselves i'm so glad that our god through jesus christ has secured our sense of value because of jesus christ we can all claim that we are truly blessed because we are made in the image of god i find it ironic then that a man that god has called struggled so deeply with his sense of self a man with the miracle of being pulled out of the water when so many of his generational peers were murdered he made it through and yet the testimony that god can keep you was not enough for his self-esteem so god somehow says while you're trying moses to remain incarcerated in obscurity through worship i'm calling you out and i want you to do something moses i want you to trust me because i got you years ago in a marriage of an american tourist in paris who had purchased what seemed to be an inexpensive necklace in a treated ship was shocked when he heard when he had to pay such a high duty for it to clear customs in new york aroused by curiosity he went and had it appraised after looking at the object under a magnifying glass the juror said i'll give you 25 000 for it the man greatly surprised decided to go check it out with another expert who when he examined it said i'll give you ten thousand dollars more than the previous offer and the man overwhelmed and astonished said what do you see that makes this old necklace so valuable and the jeweler looked at him and said look through the glass there before his eyes was an inscription from napoleon bonaparte to josephine here's the lesson the value of the necklace came from the identification with the famous person the power of god is because you identify with god god gives value to your life because god claims you god adds a value i need you to hashtag i have value where here's the second thing that comes out of worship it's cleansing let me purport that the need for correction should result from for cleansing moses was a man with a pass notice his pre-existing conditions before the bush notice them checkered past obvious liability serious self-esteem issues okay let's try it again jason check it pass obvious liability serious self-esteem issues okay let's try it again when moses met god at the burning bush he had a checkered past he had obvious liability and he had serious self-esteem issues notice something moses was a whole lot of stuff he was born a hebrew raised in egyptian yet he was exposed to the culture of media okay he was born in hebrew raised an egyptian but exposed to many night culture in essence he was born a slave raised as royalty and sheltered by a polytheistic people see the failure recorded in chapter 2 verse 12 is a result of an unbearable tension of multiple cultures he doesn't just kill the man because he's angry he kills the man because he has a connection that he cannot get around and yet while he has this cultural connection to hebrews he is living egyptian culture the contradictions embedded in him made him a candidate for counseling there was a whole lot that comprised him so when god uses the burning bush it's not just an intention grabber but it's an opportunity to walk him into cleansing don't you miss this the concrete anchor removing his shoes to me says don't bring the dirt from your previous season into this life-changing moment that while this may be sacred space i need you to begin to experience a stripping of your old season maybe in this pandemic in this panamedemic god has used this to strip some things from you maybe in solitude god has tried to cleanse your soul of some old behavior maybe there's some things about you some impurities and some toxics from a previous season that has disrupted your tomorrow but god's saying i love you so much until i'm going to create the kind of worship moment where you can't miss it and thus worship is more than correction it's a cleansing agent that sets you on a new course it opens you up to more jesus extends your life and he calls you to experience change see there's another example of this simon peter's encounter in luke chapter five note that instead of a burning bush jesus uses a spectacular catch of fish in that moment the unexplainable causes simon to fall on his knees and acknowledge his unworthiness it's in that moment that he's cleansed for what's next jesus ushers him into a new sense of identity and both moses and simon peter become historical game changers well god will cleanse us god will correct us but here's the other thing god also uses worship to commission you this blesses me because god commissions him while he's dealing with intimidating fear chapter 3 verse 11 the fear of inadequacy chapter 4 verse 1 the fear of rejection and chapter 4 verse 10 the fear of humiliation i knew someone the hashtag fear has lost power see the enemy says the best way to keep you from walking in your purpose is to create fear but god says even while dealing with fear fear of humiliation fear of rejection and fear of inadequacy in dealing with fear i still called you moses moses you're still my choice i need you to hashtag i'm still god's choice see here's the power of this and i need you to go ahead and shout today because god says because moses you had all of these issues i must create in you a moment that will change your life see god commissions him to go and represent him before a cruel coal leader who will do anything to prove that his power is solidified and that his place is validated sounds like somebody we know god says to moses go and serve as my deliverer wow how encouraging this is that god knowing how flawed his choice is still commissions him today we celebrate the fact that though we are imperfect the omniscient omnipresent and omnipotent god still commissions us he creates moments where he reminds us that we are his choice and because we're called to live amazing lives he corrects us he cleanses us but he also commissions us he shows us that despite our flaws we are still usable and he does this in the atmosphere of worship come on tonto let's ride i need somebody to get this today that god loves you so much until he'll create worship and in worship he'll remind you that you are his child we'll see you next week we'll see you on express yourself but jesus christ the lily of the valley jesus christ the rose of sharon jesus christ my joy and sorrow he reminds us through his own experience that god uses worship to get us in place at the age of 12 while jesus was in the temple he declares to anyone listening i must be about my father's business and then at the age of 30 after returning from testing in the wilderness he enters the synagogue picks up a scroll reads from the prophet isaiah and the word declares the spirit of the lord is upon me is there anybody here that understands that every time god wants to use you he puts you in worship and notice if you will that worship ain't always a pretty sanctuary but worship is any place that god wants you to be we see jesus having one last worship moment on a hill far away he had worship and the worship goes like this father into thy hands i commend my spirit i came to tell you that the greatest worship is when you trust god no matter what you're going through jesus while he was dying declared that father i'm trusting you for my victory i'll see y'all later but is there anybody here that's been going through this pandemic season and you've been saying god where are you in the middle of this and god says i'm right where you need me to be i need you to high five anybody near you and say god i want to thank you for giving me worship because in my worship i discovered who you are is there anybody that can testify that the lord will use you so a charge to keep i have and a god to glorify a never dying soul the same and fitted for the sky to sign this present age my calling to fulfill me and all me and all me and all my my power engaged to do my master's will i know ain't nobody in the building but there's people in their houses i dare you to get on your feet and tell god thank you thank you for calling me thank you for saving me thank you for redeeming me say yes [Music] here's what's amazing hey jay hey ray here's what's amazing let's hear what's amazing y'all already heard it was amazing god used worship to set this man free from bad internal thinking from a past that running away couldn't fix and for a call he never thought was possible [Music] correct cleanse commission that's what god is using worship for he wants to correct the parts of you when you don't understand your own value you don't even understand how amazing you are you it ain't got nothing to do with the man you're with or the woman you love or the children you had the car you drive the house you live in if any of that stuff is how you define yourself if you define yourself based upon the circle of friends you have you've lost your mind because at any moment they can walk away from you you have to define yourself based upon your uniqueness as someone created and called by god but god wants to cleanse you he wants to set you free from everything that keeps influencing the way you think about yourself for years i have oftentimes asked god why did you choose me and one day while i was asking him again why'd you choose me his response was why not you a lot of times you struggle with the fact that god's called you to something you say but god why me i'm not this i'm not that god said you're acting like i don't know who i called as you're listening to me today if you need prayer but today you need prayer for cleansing you need prayer for correction you need prayer for commissioning just put in the in the thread prayer and our virtual altar workers will jump on it immediately begin to pray for you even if they have to do a prayer in the thread because you're not getting off this virtual today without being made whole yeah yeah yeah god almighty father in the name of jesus heal everybody that ain't gotten past it yet heal everybody that's still dealing with old issues he'll heal every marriage where there was a failure in it but they stayed in the house hold them and hug them today so their marriage can transcend the failure god heal everybody everybody father who's dealing with anything internally but more importantly remove the fear to say yes we thank you father for the wonderful and amazing way by which you have given us life and hope and on this day we say yes and father there's someone that's not saved or unchurched touch them right now bring them into the awareness and knowledge of what it means to be a child of god and to open themselves up to you in jesus name we pray amen encourage people to not drift don't give people permission as your friends to not remain close in this season i texted one of our millennials recently they told me that they hadn't been watching and i said to them i said well that's your choice but don't be so naive to think that you reading the bible by yourself is going to get you through this you got to stay connected you got to stay connected so i want
