welcome to van life builds we design and create bespoke camper vans for people to live and enjoy the ultimate van life we put a new lease of life into this furniture delivery van and transformed it into a functional off-grid tiny home [Music] hi i'm wayne from van life builds and this is the van that we've created for our clients over in australia journey from the middle it's a 170 long world-based sprinter and as always jay's behind the camera and you're blessed with my presenting skills so let's go and take a look so just down here is this little compartment which i've created which is for phongs as they say in australia um it means somewhat completely different over here but uh we'll save that for another day key features to this build was to create a large kitchen area for in a dab they love to cook so i built this extra countertop with a grooved out support at the end so they've got some extra counter space now onto the more important stuff alcohol so this is otherwise a waste of space behind the seats so we created the wine rack they're on a slope so when you're driving they don't come out and if it's two bottles in each compartment in between the bottles we put some foam so they don't bang when you're driving along so just to cushion it up front it's the office dining area you're maximizing this area to its full potential and by using swivel seats it makes it a really social space also with the sliding door you're looking out you're taking in the views and that's what van life is all about i just requested a large workstation so i built this leaf table and it really transforms the space this supporting leg at the end of the table that just helps to take any wobbles away when they're working on the table also i've mounted it on a laguna leg as well so they can swivel it around to wherever they want see these seats used to belong in the front of the cab before we replaced it with another single they're great teas and camper vans as they're safe to travel on and the storage in them is fantastic our clients are planning to live and travel in their van for over a year so storage space was a high priority for them in the design of this build the handmade rattan door fronts to the side cupboards look great but also help to save way and allow airflow into these units this section of the van makes a great multi-purpose space it can be used as part of their kitchen for food prep or could even be used as a stand-up office area a large fridge was important to this couple as they are planning to be off-grid for extended periods of time we also added a three-tier polite pantry for more food storage we integrated a small planter into the wall using recycled bamboo the plants really help soften the modern lines of the van and bring the outdoors in there is a galley style kitchen in this build which is very functional this couple opted for a two burner hob as they really love to cook this can then be paired with the omnia oven we actually partnered with omnia sweden say that all our vans come with these compact stove top ovens we highly recommend them for van life because they save weight and space compared to a conventional oven this kitchen also has plenty of storage drawers and a microwave which is powered by the victron inverter to prevent water draining onto the worktop whilst the van is moving the hole in the sink cover is slightly bigger than the faucet this enables it to drop through and drain off while driving the cover creates more workspace when the sink isn't in use and the underside of it can also double up as a chopping board our clients have drinking water on a separate tap and a deep black sink to match we always use max fans in our builds we like the fact that they can be used in all weather this one has the internal cover to prevent any heat loss at night we fitted a nautilus sharador the very popular mistakes i can see why they're lightweight they're self-cleaning and they're also space-saving also to the wet room you'll see a compostable toilet from simply loo it comes with a soft closed lid and a built-in fan to prevent any smells we've used these in previous builds and we would definitely recommend we built an area over the whale arch for bathroom essentials this just makes the best use of space available this can drain off into the shower base if required we also fitted feature recesses for small items these also have drip holes to allow the water to escape there's also a small shelf above the toilet made from recycled bamboo which just gives a nice bit of texture in the bathroom area this is a small yet fully functional bathroom with instant hot shower and a water preserving shower head there's also a small wash basin which wayne carved into a floating bamboo top in this area is the free service cupboards in the bottom one we have the gas shut off manifold we have also the water purifier and in the second cupboard we have the instant hot water service and then also in the top we have the electrical control panels i also made an access hatch so my clients can put their laundry through or long items through from the garage into the living area of india too okay and on to the garage area we've got a heavy duty bike hook here where the clients can be putting their bike wheels underneath here in this compartment we've got power so the client can plug in their chargers for their e-bikes at the moment there's talks of maybe in this big area here i've made it as big as possible maybe a pull out tray will be made later on for their e-bikes but we don't know what bikes are having yet until they go traveling over in this area here we've got their full off-grid vitron system and that's run by 400 amp hours of lithium power and also we've got nearly 500 watts of solar up on the roof as well behind the wall to the right there is an 100 liter fresh water tank kept inside of the vehicle to prevent from freezing there is also a full length rail for extra clothes storage or for somewhere to dry off washing and coats thanks to the heat vent below [Music] okay and into the bedroom area i've put the controls for the heating right next to the bed that's for the client so they can regulate the temperature throughout the van and they don't even have to get out of bed also i've put an extra vent in the bedroom area and i know through experience i mean they're coming from australia they're going to need the extra heat um also they've got a long shelf along the top here they're going to be putting wicker baskets to store clothes and other items also as well we fitted flares in the side that's just to create maximum comfort for them just like in the cab area we fitted these reading lights now we fitted these in previous builds before and we really like them they've got built-in usbs in the bottom as well i've also fitted the light switches right next to the bed so they can turn these on and off for the main lights of the ceiling so they don't have to get in and out of bed on the night time and also we can turn on the skylight as well our clients also picked a two-liter awning to the side of the van and they've also got these extra led lights to the side which is great for security the security features on this van now i can't talk about all those features for obvious reasons but we have fitted the ufo deadlocks to the sliding door also on the back door as well i've also fitted a gas outside barbecue point and a 240 electrical hookup to this side of the van we have the inlet for the freshwater tank which is 100 liters down here we have the outlet for the waste grey water tank under slung and also the outlet for the source for the heater further on down the van we also have the thinner point
