we are joining CrossFit's world feed for team event six here on day number three of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games we're back out in the North Park here at the Alliant Energy Center for the team sprint relay I'm Sean woodland with Annie Sakamoto and Dan Bailey thanks for being with us here today everybody your overall leaders mayhem freedom trying to build on the sizable lead that they already have they are 91 points up on CrossFit Krypton Invictus sits in third and OC 3 black they have moved into fourth place we're cutting to nine teams after this event so team jst compete and cross a tally off right there on the bubble jst compete has to find the way into the top nine if they want to continue in the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games this event down and back sprint relay one of the keys here yeah again your for each individual who's going to be sprinting at that start who's ever starting it off concentrate on the noise of the beep make sure you don't fall start right but take off down the course don't round your corners you want to plant turn that head in the direction you need to run next and take your next step in that direction and again the big thing here with the team aspect is going to be slapping hands so don't leave before your athlete touches your hand and probably gonna have to suffer some kind of penalty if you do that small Penner penalty in an event like this it's gonna cost you big four teams in this first heat and so that leads me to you have to remember you're not just racing the teams in your heat we're racing against all of the teams yes grace traumas can leave things off for mayhem freedom Cody Mooney there with the Crossgate Krypton eyes are gonna be on him for this one football background yeah you mentioned that in the pregame show me athleticism I think is we're gonna pay off of this event correct right 10 seconds till the start and remember this event is huge because once again we are cutting down to nine teams and we are underway in a plate a mystery man stumbled out in the gates on the far side I think that's oc3 closest to the cameras they make the turn because the top four teams in the overall standings but it's Dre Strom in the lead weaving his way now through the cones and he will make the tag little subtle though for Strom leg to that stage up four sevens taking off and mayhem freedom with a huge lead right now camille leblanc-bazinet in the pink she makes the turn Teja four-sevenths makes the turn look at this Rack is closing the gap there that they kind of established on that first male athlete tag made now to try to tell for man freedom as they continue to lead Jessica Griffith is in the black shorts Crypton making the turn and that the far-end oz3 black making the turn is Andrey and Missler is just trying to catch up and close the gap here Jessica Griffith has managed to track down tomato so this one's going to come down into the anchor leg and look at that Alex right from Alex Smith fired out of a Canon making the turn Alex Smith is now ahead of rich Froning and it's CrossFit krypton with the lead mayhem in second Alex Smith will get the heat win for CrossFit krypton it's going to be mayhem freedom in second and it was close between Invictus and OC 3 go ahead and give myself a pat on the View College mr. Berger not only Krypton but the Smith family bringing athletes what this world they played that perfectly' and from the beginning of that heat Dre Strom and taser 4/7 gave mayhem freedom a big lead as we now take a look at the times this would be a bracketed event and remember the top times will move on it's not necessarily if you win your Heat you're guaranteed the top times move on to the final Heat that is a good point mayhem freedom's time although they took second in that heat they could still be second place overall their second best among the field we don't know yet we have to watch the rest of the heats go Project Krypton is gonna move on but here's another look at the finish for Alex Smith who with plaid on that Jesse a Griffith as well in the final two athletes for frosted krypton get them as a Heat win they still have another heat to go though if they want to win the event yeah definitely the big change there at the end of their last two runners Jessica Griffith and Alex Smith were both able to kind of walk down close that distance on mayhem we see bracketed events before here at the CrossFit Games and you think back to the obstacle course just a couple years ago when we had that that bracket style and we've had to speed clean ladders and here's a look at the lane two assignments yep don't stop the central beast and victus exit pro one out on the field and Invictus x will certainly be a team to watch as they have some athletic members of their team Margot Alvarez is a woman who always seems to do well in these types of events now we were talking earlier Cristiano can run distance but might not be the fastest athlete correct she's that she's definitely more traditionally known as a distance athlete this would be something that hopefully she's taken some time to kind of shore up between her individual experience and now being on a team well the other difference that we saw in that last heat was it's one thing to run down and around those fast but you've seen some of the teams definitely lose some of their lead on that zigzag piece to finish it again I mean similar to we talked about running what could you do what are the keys to the event what could you do to be better at this event go back six months from now if you do endurance running right there's definitely some similar things here if you haven't been sprinting if you haven't been working on any cutting we're talking ten to the second you know that it's going to separate a large portion of athletes or a large portion the teams you haven't been working on that it's going to show up here Sam dancer is going to be running the opening leg for Invictus X it looks like marvel Alvarez will be after him and they're gonna have holding breath well running the anchor way [Applause] we are underway it's don't stop far into the field next to them out of the central beast and then it's Invictus X Sam dancer running person then throw one montreal jos cali running the opening leg for his team it's Scalli and looks like Travis Williams at the far end of the field who have the lead after leg number one don't stop and Alexis Johnson its Pro 1 Montreal that's Lorraine Allard she looks like she is slightly ahead of Alexis Johnson's this is the second of four athletes to go Margot Alvarez making the turn she's in the middle of the field right now she is in third place but Alvarez is now gaining ground on Alexis Johnson as they hit the pylon Lorraine Allard though bata meter screen still in the lead for pro-1 Montreal Allard makes the tagging here's men on less sewer [Applause] even now between pro-1 central beats and don't stop one athlete to go Christy Aaron while making the turn for Invictus X Jen Smith far into the field for don't stop and now close as we hit the final leg holden ref will for Invictus x's out front he was running the anchor leg for his team he makes a turn first David Fontaine bottom of your screen now on the right side of your screen for pro when Montreal has fallen back into fourth but now he's trying to track down the athlete from the central beast it's going to be close to the finish and it looks like it will be Invictus X Holden ref will across the finish line first 140 4.91 I was really impressed with Christy éramos leg on that she'd gained ground and actually I think she overcame some of the other athletes in the field not what I expected from her victus X they assuming that they beat some of the teams in that first heat I'll be moving on right I think they actually beat mayhem with a 144 but not beat Krypton I believe Krypton's time was 143 victus X 144 point 91 about two seconds ahead of don't stop in the central beasts and they're still waiting on the time for throw one for mayhem freedom at 1:45 they were a second behind less than a second behind Invictus X so we see three black in one forty six point eight one on them they have moved on now we're adjusting things again it's your top five teams from the first round things have changed these are your top four so far mayhem freedom cross and Krypton Invictus X this looks like a Price is Right game which prices I'm just gonna wait till this thing settles before we start talking so this is now what looks to be the top five central beasts mayhem freedom project Krypton Invictus X and don't stop there top five teams that's bad news for OC three black as it looks like they will fail to gain ground in this event the good news is their fourth overall so if not an extreme danger of getting cut right now three teams left to go the sixth event for the teams as we kick off the third day of competition we appreciate you guys being here with us here at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison Wisconsin so now just three teams in this final heat heat jst Aliotti and the exterminators the bees are the teams who are currently sitting right on the cut line or on the wrong side of it where I was gonna say is actually looking at this event now that we've seen it play out in two heats it definitely looks like straight away speed is playing a much bigger factor than your ability to cut make turns that long distance in the start if you can gain enough of a lead get around your pylon get back down I don't between athletes making big mistakes on the pylon turns unless somebody were to slip fall anything like that we haven't seen that yet definitely the straightaway speed is looking like it's playing a bigger role you've got to beat 140 6.60 seconds in order to get yourself in I have a chance get yourself in to that final heat take a look at jst cookies or just three teams in this third and final qualifying heat and jst could be you that was a team that did really well in the long run they won that ruck event it'll be interesting to see if they can run short and fast jst on the far side of the field in the middle it's a layoff and then the exterminator says Zeke Grove makes the turn for them and he will head back the other way and it's Zeke Grove and the exterminators in the lead jst sits in second and his ally off and third as they hit the pylons textbook cutter on that far pylon bison [Applause] so grove making the tag that is Kate Gordon [Music] [Applause] as now alia is opening up a lead they are in the middle of the field if I'm not mistaken a layup is the first team that sent both of their male athletes out first and it's paying off because look at that lead that is sin frogs dad who was out there and she has a gigantic cushion as she makes the turn back Danny who ran from the exterminators trying to make up a little ground but like you said Ali off has opened up a huge lead by sending out those two gentlemen first crocs Ted is going to now make the tag Jamia åkerlund who's running the anchor leg here and mia now just has to worry about finishing this thing inside 140 6.60 if she wants to get her team into that final team she has 16 seconds now to do so so this one's going to be closer Ali off they have got to get themselves into that final heat if they want a chance of moving on and it looks like they are going to do it awkwardly making the final turn she's across the finish line so one bout 44 unofficially 144 49 for alia jst is next at 147 3-1 so they will not advance and the exterminators at 150 point three four they will not advance as well so one team is going to be dropping out of that final an ally off is going to be moving in interesting strategy from them but both men first and now you wonder other teams watching that do they adjust as we look at Mia Ocalan coming in all by herself and has a couple seconds to spare as her team will be moving on to the final Heat no one even close to them in that heat now they will adjust things again the top five but it's still CrossFit krypton that holds the best time out of that that first round by a pretty large margin - you're looking at it over a second I believe we don't stop a mile when you're talking about in sprinting alley off Krypton and dicta sex and mayhem freedom these are all teams that are on the right side of the cut line the other teams now will be ranked 5 through 11 in this event based on their times in the qualifying so those spots are now taking some spots one through five will be decided here in this final heat and that will be determined by their finish order in this final Heat then after this event we cut down to 19 the sixth event for the teams as they once again kicked off action day number three of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games as fans continue to file in here to the Alliant Energy Center and Dan you mentioned it before but it is that straightaway speed that is making a huge difference and we saw that play out with frosted alley oh yeah as soon as some of those teams take off when you start seeing other one team pull away from the other on this straightaway the same thing happens on the way back you have those shortcuts at the finish that's not really enough time to make up the appropriate amount of ground if you've been put behind on those two straightaway Sprint's now the way that the cuts do play in or the cutting excuse me does play into the event is if you were to slip fall trip and if those you have teams that are matched on straightaway speed then the cutting will come in into a little more play but if you can build yourself up a big enough gap nobody's gonna be able to come back and catch you we just saw the final five teams or so we have don't stop we have Invictus krypton alley op and mayhem freedom Krypton looks super impressive they had the fastest time what are the chances you think that they maybe adjust their strategy a little bit and try to match what alley op did in order to improve I think that right now looking at how far ahead you are you're you're over a second ahead of all the other teams and how they ran I don't think you change anything yeah I don't think it's necessary to change anything you just prove that you're the fastest team out there with how you executed the event keep it the same try to take home those hundred points all right I think for them they just need to do exactly what they did last time because like you were saying they were even with a layoff strategy Krypton was still a full second ahead of them faster than them so don't change a thing now the other thing that's gonna change too though is all these teams are gonna be really bunched up close together alley of--this all by themselves out there running alone you're not gonna run your fastest when you have nothing in your peripheral vision to kind of gauge yourself of them so I think this is gonna cause a really really fun event to watch here a lot of athletes compete me two against each other very close space should push harder to the finish line take a look at the lineup as the final five teams are warming up and across the dahle up impressive performance there and that final heat to get them in and man they needed that because right now they are yep they're on the bubble they are on the bubble made plays nice place overall they only had a seven point lead over team jst compete so they are doing themselves a favor here is there a spot in the top five so here you go it's Krypton they will be on the far end of the field alley up next to them don't stop Invictus and then mayhem freedom Cody Mooney and camille leblanc-bazinet air team has the fastest time so far a lot in part to one mr. Alex Smith yeah yeah I didn't see that coming I knew he would be fast like I assumed he would be fast from just to like I mentioned the Smith family they all play sports they grew up playing that I know that just from knowing Ben but man he shot out there like a cannon I mean nobody was even close about a good start and that's exactly what happened I mean he was so fast off the line well and he didn't have anybody around him so as easy to judge how fat you was let's not forget about the work that Jessica Griffith did as well to track that China Cho so because he was all by himself he looked super fast with Jessica Griffith is the one that managed to pull them even and then handed things over to Alex Smith it's one great thing about the North Park here is that all the flags of the nations who were competing irresponsive games are represented as they adorn the railings here at the North Park as we once again kicked off competition outside it's day three of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games and I mean in terms of who the pressures on right now from what all the other teams have seen of each other it really is on Prospect Krypton I mean they know that they're in the first place they know that they have the fastest strategy everybody else is catching them they have that little bit of target on their back but again I don't think it affects anything that they do other teams might be making adjustments to them maybe changing their style or order to get themselves closer to that one 43 time and here's the good news now for Krypton if they can win this event they're gonna get 100 points as we're down to 11 team if by chance mayhem were to finish in fifth Jesse a Griffith can be the blob as an AE and her team they're gonna pick up 50 points on mayhem freedom Wow so now all of a sudden that deficit gets a lot more than in half it's a big big event across New Krypton they are hoping they can win and then they're hoping that they can get some help here but they are in position to pick up a lot of points here on mayhem freedom so many changes to this season and this is one of the things that makes every event that much more exciting yeah we talked about it earlier mistakes gigantic final heat under way far side of the field it's Krypton next to them alley off don't stop in the middle followed by Invictus X and then mayhem freedom great strong great once again Dre she's running the opening leg and it's mayhem freedom slightly in the lead over CrossFit Krypton as Cody Mooney running the opening leg for them I think Cody Moo he might have got a better start on that round which is bad news for everybody else in the field so here comes Paige the percentage so this is the same way we saw that qualifying he play out for seven running second Camila blob has an A in the middle of the field running second four and it looks like kept their strategy of sending out both males first you know thinking about it Ali up had a lot less rest going into this final event just to some of those teams that went in the first heat for seven tagging to show [Applause] the race on right now between alley-oop and mayhem freedom CrossFit alley off that is sin Crocs Dada and Crocs at now in the lead Jessica Griffith in the middle of the field was able to track down China chill last time but sin croc said now for alia as they make the tag down a via öcalan and vehicleand same story has a big lead but look out here comes rich Froning and Alex min at the same strategy for all these three teams and now we are even as alex smith has taken the lead Smith to the pylons rope into the pylons sound press the final turn ease across the finish line it's going to be Krypton taking the event win don't stop we'll take second and it's mayhem freedom in third so that means that frosted Krypton is going to cut 20 points off rich Froning and company's lead right now under six events Alex Smith once again bring it home for his team and a great win for him as he had to hold off rich Froning and Mia Okerlund as he weaved his way through those pylons and now maybe that CrossFit mayhem freedom leave isn't Evan surmountable as we once thought now I'm gonna be down to just 71 points now we mentioned those changes in the in the scoring as the the cuts kind of move along and they're in one event a 20-point gap and mayhem didn't do bad right and a dead sprint and you pulled ahead or right in the end I mean what did you need to do to get that win all of us together we do exactly what we needed to the first time which I executed again 100% effort on that workout so we all like that stuff power output congratulations thank you so much project Krypton with our first event win of the competition is they will stay solidly in second place and they will creep closer to mayhem freedom in the overall standing so Dan Bailey I'm gonna give you a big pat on the back you said keep an eye on this team and they made you look really smart yeah they absolutely crushed it big advantage for them I feel like in that last heat with the order their athletes Alec was actually a little bit of behind right so you have a rabbit to chase now okay so some of the other athletes they're running out in front you don't know where Alec is behind you until it might have been too late he caught up and was able to pass everybody right through the end there make his way faster through the pylons and rack up a hundred points and it looked like Aly off strategy may have paid off but then because Mia Ackland was racing against the likes of Alex Smith and rich Froning she just wasn't able to hang on to that lead right exactly but I was actually really impressed with how much she held her own considering the gentleman that she was on the field with we're staying with the crosses world feed because there is an impending flyover that we want to show you that has been planned as the teams are now done and we're getting set to transition over to the individuals [Applause] [Applause] Coast Guard helicopter that was performing a flyover this morning enjoy the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games [Applause] [Music] each 60s out of Traverse City Michigan thank you once again to all those who have served and are currently in service impressive site here it's not we've had quite a few flyovers that we've heard over or wrote in here but I know that one was planned and that was pretty cool to watch it was that first one I didn't duck for this nicely time final result so it's across the Krypton they get 100 points and victus acts will take second don't stop takes third now mayhem freedom we'll take fourth now that means that that gap has got an even smaller so now cross three Krypton has shaved 40 points oh wow Wow or make that 30 I'm sorry it is 30 points 30 points off of mayhem freedom's lead they got some help and that lead is now down to 61 right in one event that's great I've never seen something like that be able to happen before any one event and like we were talking about earlier we're gonna we're gonna drop another couple of teams which means things like that are gonna matter even more right this stakes continually there's some getting magnified as the weekend goes on you got on your game as these later events in later days show our peers how the women are taking the field now as they get set to run their qualify heats and this will work the same way as we saw with the teams we will have heats but it's not necessarily the winner who moves on its going to be the fastest time so the 10 fastest times will move on to the few qualifying heats and then we will have one final even five and that will be the winner-take-all look at Amanda Barnhart as she is getting said well and normally we see you know kind of the top heats going 2nd or 3rd now we're seeing the top heats get the advantage by going first so we talked about this briefly in the last one obviously by going first if you do make it through you're gonna get more rest than the athletes that go in the later heats and then have to go ahead and run again quickly but for the athletes on the bubble they now know the time that they need to hit that's gonna be a huge help for some of these ladies who are trying to stay alive the Jamie green fourth place overall she has 391 points and there's a look at Kerry pier so at one point led this competition see right now has 419 point she's 12 points back of overall leader Tia to me I know we talked about 30 Helga daughter before or I talked about her before one of the athletes other athletes I want to watch in this event for sure is gonna be Amanda Barnhart yes I think she definitely has that background as well speed power athlete I'm excited to see what she can do in this event Barnhart right now sixth place overall had a up-and-down day yesterday 15th on the ruck and then she won the Sprint complet and then 25th in Mary pretty simple sport I'm sprint through the same course we just saw the team that sprint through and then we're gonna cut down to ten athletes the rest of the competition to you to me our overall leader she surrendered the jersey to that woman temporarily but then regained it on the opening event of day number two I can remember Kari was talking about her quads cramping up in Mary last night a little bit she was kind of punching them and she was going along in the event I'm I got to wonder if that's gonna play any effect today if she was able to kind of take care of that last night and if there's any residual of that you know coming into this sprint event this morning where the stakes are hot anyone mistake any little tweak is gonna be magnified out on the field well and it's one thing to run long and slow with things like that that have just happened but but sprinting is a whole nother beast absolutely saw the five athletes who will be in this opening heat and they are the top five athletes in the overall standings Jamie green Kerry Pierce and a frag count Tia to me and that woman Christian Holt I have to mention her multiple times going up for all the times that were overlooked her here he is again in the top five written her name on this shirt she's earned it Kerry Pierce she's had a solid competition so far only one finish the outside the top ten that was a 19th in the Sprint Cup live but everything after that take your mark since that has been inside at least the top seven I want to thank our broadcast partners CrossFit for providing this world feed that we are bringing to you here on day number three in the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games opening heat of event six for the women the Sprint look who's first to the first turn we are underway here to me the overall leader in the middle of the field christen pulpit is next to her in the black shorts Volta making the turn there in Lane seven and she is even with Tia tui holtam may have just a step on to me Kristin wholethe as they hit the pylons in the lead it's to me and Jamie green tied for second Volta around the second pylon now the sprint for home for Kristin Holt oh this one's going to be close hold it looks like she may have edged out Tia to me for the heat win depends on which leg that chip timer was on potentially Kristin holds a 27.53 followed by to me green Frank out and then Carrie Pierce at twenty nine point six five seconds now remember in ditzy top ten times that move on to the second round this next heat will feature some women who are trying to avoid dropping outside on the top ten christen holds out with a time of 27 seconds point 53 Tristan Volta with the top time of 27.53 to beat that chances are very good at getting into the second round twenty nine point six sides of peers banana frac whose time is being written up twenty nine point one one so you have to beat twenty nine point six five if you want to be in one of the fastest five times right now there are four heats in this opening round we have three to go and I'm imagining that actually some of the best times in tea a clear to me Jamie green and Kristen Jota are gonna come out of that first eight minute and again knowing those times for athletes in the next heat you might think that gives them a little bit of an advantage but because this is a totally different course than we've ever done it doesn't really the only thing that it's going to help them with is knowing when their time is announced did I make it I know what time I need to beat now I know if I'm in or not spot six through ten will be in this next heat and in spot number ten is aunty Thoris up she is right now the woman wearing the gigantic target on her back because if the cuts were made right at this minute Annie Thorisdottir would be moving on so she needs to avoid falling outside the top Texas now Heat number two of the sixth event here the 2019 Reebok Watson game to see the names of the women will be on the field Brooke Wells is one of them Amanda Barnhart is next to her bethenny shad burn Hayley Adams and Annie Thorisdottir keep your eye on Annie Thorisdottir she's at the bottom of your screen Annie Thorisdottir I have to say is not somebody that comes to mind as a sprinter looking in this heat definitely gonna be Brooke Wells is another one to watch she's actually recruited to run track and field at university level Bethany's chat room makes the turn just ahead of Annie Thorisdottir and Bethany Chadron looks like she might have a slight lead over Brooke wells we get to the pylons Annie Thorisdottir looks like she is lagging behind and Thorisdottir looks like she's gonna finish sport hailey Adams at twenty eight point zero five Angie got Bethany Chadron worked well the tenth of a second behind her chorus daughter twenty nine point three two and four and hard at twenty nine point six looked like something might have happened there Brooke wells was talking to her judge finished Amanda Barnhart but definitely did not do as well as I thought you know for sure Barnhart is in sixth place coming into this event she has 346 points she's only 22 points up on katrin davidsdottir who was in 11th so Barnhart now needs to get a little help how do the atoms of 20 8.05 top time in that heat kristen wholethe still has the best time in 27.53 we have two heats to go here in this qualifying rounds or we get into the semi five and again there's three lady ladies from that top heat actually have better times than he leeadams from that second heat but still really impressive from hailey Adams as an 18-year old rookie on the individual side to be pulling in numbers like that super impressive yeah the composure to come out with the other athletes and that need a lot of games better yeah she just went after you are the next five women up Danielle Brandon Cherie Helga daughter Riggs katrin davidsdottir and Alessandra pucelli like we said earlier the one to keep your eyes on history Helga daughter in Lane three traditionally always done really well with the sprinting events there is Danielle Brandon who has an event win under her belt also a track and field athlete pole vaulter in Sacramento State University these are your top times a Kristin Holt ad 27.53 Bethany Chadron now when that last year has the fifth best time 28.6 for top ten times seconds move on the katrin davidsdottir lot at stake for her here 11th place overall churi Helga daughter she is in 12 so these two women trying to work their way into the top 10 and in order to do that they probably have to advance at least into the next round it gets where your eyes need to be in this heat well actually makes it first to that first pylon we are underway stamp race the closest to the screen next to her is Alessandra pucelli as we work our way down the field Danielle Brandon as grace makes the turn and then it is tiray' Helga daughter who is to the pylons first far into the field she's in the dark shorts socks over one pylon almost makes a nice cut around the second one and it looks like it's going to be turi Helga daughter across the line first and it is 27.5 0 that is your new fastest time she edges out kristen whole two by three one hundreds of a second Danielle Brandon his second David's daughter is third at twenty eight point seven nine that might get her in Alessandra patellae @ 29.0 and Sam Briggs thirty point one seven seconds footer e Helga daughter that is huge for her 12th place coming into this event three hundred sixteen points she's fourteen points back of Annie Thorisdottir with the time to be right with the twenty seven point five versus Kristen Holtz is 27.53 Sam Briggs at thirty point one seven we take a look at Danielle Brandon's weaving her way through those pylons but Briggs 15th place overall doesn't look like she's gonna make it into that qualifying heat the second round I should say Samantha Briggs where competition might be done yeah it is hot down there as it has been all weekend long at the North Park and there's a good chance at this point Sam Briggs realizes that her competition is over I think she's a smart enough athlete she knew where she stood she knew what she had to do and there's a good chance she she knows that her weekend is over one of those situations where you're thinking earlier in the weekend what could I have done to not put myself in this position to have to perform in an event where I know I'm a little bit weaker right what can I look back on in hindsight how could I have done a little bit better put myself in a bigger or better position come Saturday and I'm guarantee that's what's going through Kathy Davis daughter's mind right now I don't think she's guaranteed a spot yet her time looked decent again it's the top ten times we'll have to wait to see how that plays out here are five women who are 15th or below sara sigmundsdottir in 20th place she has to make it into the next round in order to have a chance of advancing into the top ten essentially sara sigmundsdottir has got to find herself here in the finals if she wants to make up her poise deficit right now she has 259 points Annie Thorisdottir has 332 you gotta think top three at least with sara sigmundsdottir in this event well and the lady next to her Laura Horvath Rookie of the Year last year was in the same boat as sara sigmundsdottir sitting in 18th place right now she has to advance into the next heat or her weekend is over as well we're off Laura Horvath in the middle and the dark top is another one we need to each performance here she finished second last year the process game she's in danger of missing the cut for bath just ahead a sigma jean her on the turn Horvath is in the lead far into the field see what that time is that she crosses the line now Sigma Jean it looks like she is behind Horvat warbat makes the turn far end of the field sure win a warm pathos in Sigmund stuttering in his Caroline Prevot at twenty seven point seven one four bath twenty eight point four two Sigma's daughter twenty nine point five five she may not be advancing we are starting to look at times if you're above twenty eight seconds that might not make it into the final ten so we may have seen the last time at sara sigmundsdottir is on the field here at the CrossFit Games as Caroline Freebo wins that heat I cannot believe I'm saying that right now I know and I think I'm honestly probably gonna say it about Laura Horvath too she had she did better than I thought she not originally really good at the Sprint's but with Carli Prevot getting that time under 28 seconds I'm feeling like the top times around it out everybody's under 28 I feel like I mean we're gonna have to take a look at that but not a bad time for Maura but she may not make it into that final event could be the end of her weekend as well now the athletes you don't make it in they will be slotted in spots 11 through 20 based on their times in this qualifying event those spots are not going to be locked in as we compete for first 1st through 10th and it I'm just I'm shocked right now that sara sigmundsdottir that we're actually talking about this might be getting cut here right and it's the same 19 CrossFit Games it's the same thought process what you just did here in this event is not why she's leaving the event right if everything that happened prior to this that led up to this moment where the pressure was on in an event that you just don't have that many strengths with or the other field is just that much better right and so it comes down to the mistakes that you made and some of those earlier events and and how you could have avoided those to not put yourself in a do-or-die position come an event that does not favor you right in with an athlete like Sarah say it's similar to fikowski like I don't think it's something that's like her overall fitness level is terrible no III don't think that we got a good view of what she's actually capable of I think it might have just been execution on some early events in the weekend well and you have to wonder does that come from their mindset going into this weekend with the unknowns knowing that there's going to be cuts did that wear on their their mental game more than maybe they even revised right right depending on how you were training leading up to this you saw all the changes on my goodness I haven't been prepared for this I'm not sure how to react I don't know how to tackle the different events so yeah all these things can play a huge factor into coming into the competition weekend Kathy Davis daughter on the left here screen is another woman who was waiting the river scene right now because she has got to get into the semifinal round 11th place overall trailing aunty flora started by just six points for the top ten the times are all written down on the left quite a few in the 2017 maybe three four five in the twenty sevens and then you look after that couple you see in the twenty eight it looks like if you're between 27 and 28 seconds you're in 29 30 range you're probably not going to make it Sarah Sigma's are came in inside 29 seconds she just has to wait and see how this plays out and you can see among those ladies that are kind of on that bubble but both of making it into this next round and just on the bubble in general there's not a lot of banter there's not a lot of talking between them and I feel like usually in these events in between you know the people are chatting with each other a little bit more when not so much is on the line none of those ladies are talking to each other right now I think that's been the change of the mood for the entire back end it's been a little bit more serious faces a little bit more not as much excitement slap in high-fives just kind of like you mentioned right let's see if we can hear what Kiki Dixon went for now just saying though I'm guessing they're gonna now she was in that final heat now she just said that we'll be back in a few you want to just talk about some nerve-racking moments for a lot of these women's and take a look at a drag coup as well on the correct side of the cut line she was a fifth place overall coming into this event the Haley Adams and Carolyn primo talking some things over Caroline Freebo the winner of that last T look is like she's gonna advance hey Adams the youngster continues to be impressive here right in ninth place overall on the cut line but certainly helping herself with that performance and Anna Franco is another name that we have barely spoke of at all this weekend sitting there in fifth place she she had you know an 11th place first event but then yesterday a sixth and a fifth place finish we've never seen her at the game she she's a name that we thought should and could be here at the game eventually she eventually right exactly and so to not only see her but in in a game scenario before seeing this weekend to be sitting in fifth place fifth place really impressive debut from Anna frag out absolutely and again we're still kind of looking at the athletes reactions everybody's got a pretty grim face on who might be on that cut line and the only time I can think where that situation might have played out in past years was maybe 2011 we had a cut line or a final day but then also something that people forget about is that in in past years games events around 2013 2014 there was a minimum work requirement for workouts so if you didn't finish a workout if you got a DNF you are out of the competition so if you didn't get so far in a workout by the time the time cap came around you were out I can remember also in 2011 if you touched a paddle board if you you know came out on a swim or anything that would also eliminate you so all those things played mines in past history but nothing like it is right exactly nothing like you knew if you at least got through the events you were you're fine now I might be finished exactly they're starting to slot some people in here that's debut banks who's in charge of not scoring here so he'll get out her and Holter are in those are our first two look wells waiting to find out and it's uh they're just trying to cool down and find some shade out there and Brooke Wells is then doesn't look right there does not look happy yeah I know she was talking with her judge right after the event but I don't know we're not sure yet what what kind of transpired there during her heap now Wells is in seventh place coming into this event see it she has 346 points but only 16 points up on Annie Thorisdottir who was in 10th Annie Thorisdottir is the key because she'd be the last one right Carolyn Prevot and Kristin Volta and now Danielle Brandon made it in a 27 point six three so we have now four athletes now five is Tia Claire to me as being slotted into the semi-finals [Music] middle name like we have in the past they're gonna put the leaders in the middle of the field this is the first heat that they're announcing now Jamie's green is in it looks like Katherine David's honor might be coming through they they have her nameplate david hunters name is back that is huge for Laura Horvath because Laura Horvath is an 18th place coming into this in this event so she needs she really needs it I'm guessing that we cut away from the world feed because why keep little suspensive okay but we did see some of the people now we're back the Bethenny shad Byrne is in and there's one spot left huge for lower lower back and it's Kate knock it out of the park that sara sigmundsdottir will not be moving on any Thorisdottir may not be moving on but it depends what happens here right these are your top x Mulligan daughter was fastest at twenty seven point five zero just that haven't Kristen Holton Catherine's Ava's daughter at twenty eight point seven nine seconds if I remember correctly it was only a couple tenths of a second that may have separated her from Sarah Sigma's Honor I think sara sigmundsdottir came in at twenty eight point eight eight so it was less than a tenth of a second that separated her from Sarah for signature that's unofficial that's what makes something like this events that's a shame yeah so we are now in the semi final Heat top five times from these two heats are moving on and katrin davidsdottir just squeaking in that's Danielle Brandon who will be in this first heat and Tori Helga daughters who had the fastest time in the qualifying heats hoping that can continue that success here in the semifinal round man I'm sweating from that right now right and can you imagine how much Annie Thorisdottir sweating right now so she didn't make it in she's sitting on the bubble she's got a lot of ladies around her what Annie Thorisdottir needs to hope for is that all the women who are on the right side of the cut line run away with this thing he doesn't need women like captain David autor doing well in this event right and that's not where you want to be sitting on the sidelines watching while somebody else is controlling your destiny and you know let's keep in mind now that names like Amanda Barnhart who were sit sir in sixth she's not in either right that can help Annie Thorisdottir so there's a lot of things here that need to be decided to Kristen Volta who had the second fastest time by just three 100 seconds behind Cherie Helga daughter getting set for her second run here through the obstacle course super impressed with Kristen holidays performance on this being more well known to be an endurance athlete and still coming in absolutely crushing the sprint so she's doing what she needs to do to stay at the top of the leaderboard I'll never forget Kristen hopes for though when she won Sprint course one two in 2015 just the most beautiful performance I could ever seen first semifinal heat is underway and it's Carolyn Freebo at the bottom of your screen who's trying to keep up with Kristen Volta and chewy Helga daughter there in the middle Helga daughter making the turn along with both of Prevot right behind them sprinting out to the pylons it's holt ax dead even with Helga daughter Freebo looks like she's in third place and it looks like Kristen Jota by a tenth of a second over Helga daughter to Me's third Carolyn Prevot twenty seven point eight seven and Danielle Brandon at twenty eight point two three the top five times will move on but Volta and Helga Donner looks like they might be set for another showdown in the finals I'm talking about those cuts that's where it kind of came into play it's not something necessarily that's going to make your sprint course race here or your time but it definitely can break it that little stumble she saw she lost by right around a tenth of a second and that's all it took so Brooke Wells if you look on the left her time was bumped up to 38.77 much of being encouraged some kind of penalty but there's the stumble from Tree Hill gadot I guess that's what opened the door for Kristen hope so to take the win on that Veet look at this start Dan this is something you talked about that's a great start for Kristen hold it was a great start she actually did have a little bit of shuffle of the feet there at the start if she can eliminate that I bet she can go even faster cut another ten to second off I'm not gonna tell you to do there yeah just absolutely impressive and again coming down through the second set of pylons turi takes a little stumble and Kristen Hotei is able to capitalize I want to get back to Brooke Wells for a second since she's not in this semifinal heat that could also be good for Annie Thorisdottir in the fact that Thoris owners time was faster than Wells is going to help Annie Thorisdottir I had a gain ground on Brooke well so Annie Thorisdottir who sat in 10th place coming into this event is hoping that she is going to survive the cut here a look at your results kristen halted by a tenth of a second over TIA I'm sorry Chuy Helga daughter Tia to me then sits in third as four of the five women ago sub 28 Danielle Brandon at twenty eight point two three seconds finishes fifth second qualify heat set to go not sure if we're gonna get lane assignments or not Caroline Freebo another athlete who's having a terrific day video career at the games she was 19th coming in she's a woman who needs to make it into the finals and do very well there if she wants to vault up the leaderboard so we have David's daughter Horvath Green Haley Adams and finally Bethany shad burn we're underway [Music] [Applause] remember top five times advancing bethany Chadron making the turn closest to the screen but middle of the field is Jamie Greene looks like she is slightly ahead as they hit the pylon so Jamie green in the middle of the field trying to hold off Hayley Adams green the final cut and Jamie Green is going to get across the finish line first [Applause] davidsdottir a twenty eight point three five might be on the outside looking in as far as the final heat is considered bethany Chadron and then Laurel Horvath her time has not shown up yet incredibly fast time from Jamie Green that's right up there with the top two ladies in the first heat and what's impressive is a lot of these ladies have actually cut time off on their first their first time through the course Laurel Horvath needed really to get herself into the finals as she was in 18th place coming into this event and now we take the top five times and there's huge towards the back of that heat it is highly unlikely that she will be moving on and it's looking more and more unlikely that she will be surviving this next cut we don't have an official time for her yet you know it looks like Jamie Greene who I believe that would be the second fastest time with a qualifier at the one hundredth of a second behind person hold us one more look at Jamie Green on the return trip looking phenomenal coming down the straightaway the way that she's driving her arms rounded that corner a little bit great cut turn and go she's got that head swiveled right to where she needs to go next wherever your head goes your body's gonna go get their eyes on the finish line crosses with an incredibly fast time of twenty seven twenty I can't wait to watch the final Heat right they're all within a couple tenths of a second of each other that mean credibly exciting to watch and like we were saying kind of getting better each run it looks like a little more experience learn how what to change to make your time a little bit faster and the women who don't advance now to the final heat they will be slotted in spots six to ten in the result so that's how many the points that they will be awarded it's about six through ten keep talking about new Annie Thorisdottir who sat in tenth place she needs to hope that David's daughter didn't make it that reason Tebow didn't make it although thinks she did it doesn't look like more Horvath going to get in there's a timing problem with Laurel Horvath because of her chips so that is what's holding us up here they're trying to figure out what her time was that we await the athletes who will be moving on to the winner-take-all finals Sam Briggs is there with Annie Thorisdottir and Laura Horvath through his second last year at the CrossFit Games we talked about this we go back on Thursday that seems like a year ago but we had questions about her she didn't have the season that we expected you to have didn't look super solid at the rogue Invitational had some goals or games what you think she's an under the guidance of Michelle atomic so you can get that fixed but I you know now it looks like she has a lot to work on heading into the back seat right I want to say that she hung on a lot better this weekend and I had expected when we talked about the rogue Invitational in the rest of her season but that's not the word I want to use for an athlete that was second place at the games last year I don't want to say that that her performance was a hang on for the first two days so I feel bad for Laura I hope obviously they're gonna go back to the drawing but said anything it also goes to show you how talented the field of athletes right really is right even though she was second at the games last year there's no room for error in the hour and you start factoring in all these different changes and the talent of the field if anybody if you crack the door open just a little bit anybody can kind of come in there and take your spot yeah and you mentioned this when we were talking about TIA to me and woody chant winning championships it's the same thing as you're getting on the podium it's just because you got there one year doesn't mean you're a shoo-in the next year absolutely not and that's just to your point the depth of this field combined with the magnification of mistakes that are made have made this super exciting competition but there's just no room and now I wonder when you start tracing back like your entire season you're planning out how you're going to peak we talked about that on day one we don't know maybe Laura had some injuries here and there other athletes may have had some bumps and bruises we know sara sigmundsdottir was coming off of a rib injury are you more careful in how you're training are you more careful on how you're prepping to where you get to this point in the week or you get to the CrossFit Games and you are fresh mentally physically you want to feel the best you've ever felt not be worn down in any respect not having a fear of any of that pain maybe from some of your training I feel like that's showing that it's that much more important to be that ready when you get to this weekend well we talked about that on one of our first shows it's just the whole idea of seasons within CrossFit and how the way that they've constructed this year has not lent itself to having a season so it's really upon the athletes and their coaches to create a season within the year and figure out how you're gonna get your athletes through without injury and to this point peaking right right yeah because obviously I think physically they're all very similar but it's who's peaking who's mentally and physically actually peaking at this moment let's do an ask Dan Vail wants to come I know our first question comes from and sorry I can't read the name but what would your favorite event have been if you were competing healthy this year but you can't say the spring what would have been my favorite event man I really liked event one I think I think that would have been a fun one for me I think would have been a good one for me the there weren't so many high repetition so it's a little bit lower in the rep scheme a total bit of my love running I would have enjoyed anything kind of above that I'm pretty afraid of I start slobbering it doesn't look pretty so yeah the rope climbs or something that I've always tried to work on be a little bit better at since it caught me in earlier season so that would have been a great a fun event for me and also a great test to see kind of where I'm at in terms of the rest of the field so I I have to pick event one alright next next ask Dan Bailey what we got here you're the most amazing sprinter I've ever seen in CrossFit you'd be able to win this if you did it as an individual crew because and look I'm gonna give you props to did one of the coolest things I've ever seen Congrats with competition but I think you went over the hurdle lost the sunglasses grabbed them in mid sprint and did not lose a step and kept going Hill won the event it's still won the event yeah the only think time that I will brag about anything and when events like this come up I'm like hey hundred points yeah let's do this you know what I mean and it's not like a diss to the rest of the field it's just I spent you know between 10 to 15 years learning how to run fast that was my own goal I wanted to be in the Olympics when I was younger so when these events come out I mean not only are they super fun but I just start again slobbering in a different way elevating is the chance to get a hundred points and just kind of put some of the talents that I've been given on display perhaps we can just get you a wild card for this one event you know I would do it in a heartbeat if those pylons are still out there later tonight you'll see me out all right maybe yeah maybe we can but I'd love to do that keep those questions coming hashtag ask Dan Bailey just to get you guys updated we're still waiting on the official scoring results there was an issue with Laurel Horvath timing chips and the judges are discussing this we're trying to figure out what her time is and then once they have that figured out we will know the final five athletes we're moving on to the winner-take-all final Heat what would be your favorite events on wood yeah should be done so far we've done none of them yeah a couple you have to pick waters nothing out here they don't jump you have to pick mom so the second event was the row push press handstand walk can't do any that okay answer walks over okay third was the rock row I guess by default that's here's what I don't think it happens no I do have many pistols I'm gonna come down with a case of nice or I just say that I just feel like I could you could do heavy stuff not be the only one I could do is our past describe and for yourself Mary Mary yes of course but if there was an event that I could be good at it would be the sprinting that I love watching yourself Kristen Jota people that are really good sprinters runners that are agile I like that as much as I love watching CrossFit I love watching that yes all right it looks like we figured out our scoring issue here turi Helga daughter Kristen holds a Jamie green Carolyn Prevot without to me slots in there Brandon comes out that's big because Danielle Brandon was in 14th place overall so there are your final five everybody in the 27th huge for Carolyn Freebo because right now Freebo 19 to these overall she's guaranteed to finish inside the top five with twenty athletes a fifth place finish would mean 80 points and that's what Annie Thorisdottir he does not want to see right now but keep in mind too that neither rook wells or Amanda foreign heart who were in the top ten made it past the first round correct that could help ante a little bit they were only sitting about sixteen points above a knee and barely more than that right around 20 above that cut line Christon Volta had a great battle with Sheree Helga daughter in the last heat those two will be on the field for this winner-take-all final now for Kristen to Holton she's only 15 points back at Tia - yeah if Chris and Jota were to win this event - during 100 points all she needs that happens for ta2 week to finish 4th and Kristin Holt is your new overall leader they would be tied in points unofficially but that's what happens a lot on the line here right and that we keep saying there's a lot of events left but as we keep marching through the weekend and Kristin hold day keeps proving that hey I'm gonna chip away at this lead and put myself in contention to win we got to keep our eyes on right well and she's doing everything that we've said some of these athletes haven't been doing and that is easing upon her strength and doing her very best to get as many points as she can under the belt so if and when some of the events come up that she's not as good at she's got a cushion to work with all right this should be an exciting race considering all these ladies were in within the twenty seven second mark on that last Heat yeah when you're talking about finishing in a sprint event when you're looking at seconds you're getting beaten by a mile so in a sprint that's around 20 to 27 seconds you're gonna be down to the tenths of a second almost every single time the winner-take-all final Heat keep your eye on the middle of the field that's where Kristin Holt uh Jamie green and chewy helluva daughter are they had your passes times coming into this final Heat dead even developers five athletes making the turn at the same time looks like it's holding an octane in the middle of the field TIA to me staying close to her that's big for to me pulta making the first turn onto the second tile on and now the sprint to the finish to the goal hey Scott expressive otha who win the event huge win for Kristin are fact th ooh he's gonna finish third helga daughter will take fourth Prevot takes seconds that is huge for Carol and Prevot because she just picked up 95 points she came in a 19th place she's trying to get her way into the top ten that may have done it look at that time for Kristin Holt a she was almost another half a second plus often like were you holding something well your footwork at the start making shave some time off and it looks like she may have done that absolutely Carolyn Prevot takes seconds Tia to me takes third - he's going to get 90 points that means now that halter will only trail to me by five points unofficially after this event such an impressive race from Kristin halter like he said dance she just got faster and faster every time she ran this race to finish in 30 seconds is unbelievable at that point in the race going through the pylons just don't make a mistake and she did across the across the finish line first place on her points let's christen Jota picking up the event wind it's going to be the first of the competitions for her and another top three finish her third inside the top three and when the heats are whittled down like that and everything is on the line because of cuts how important is it for you to get to the top of an event like this you always want to be on the top and it's super fun to be in the final and just try to run as fast as I can what was it like out there I mean you had to do it over and over and after a couple days of competition already how did it feel like this is what we trained for to be able to repeat time after time so it was super fun and madness fierce amazing congratulations [Applause] Kristen Holton with her first event win of the competition and she will significantly narrow the gap between herself and Tia to me now looks like Chris and Holton will sit unofficially in second place overall Jamie green most likely will be in third as Kerri Pierce who sat in third did not make it as far as Jamie Green did in that event so Jamie Green looking like she's going to be in third place behind TIA to me and Kristen Holton now the question is did Catherine Davies daughter and Annie Thorisdottir get help and stay inside the top ten right and you never want to be dependent on other other women's performance that is to keep you inside of a competition it's a super uncomfortable position for them to be at one I don't think that they've ever been in they're always in command at some point of the weekend kind of controlling their own destiny and they are definitely not doing that right now you can see them before just kind of sitting down on the sideline with a blank stare out onto the field waiting to wonder did I make it am I going to move on well and I think a lot of them are probably thinking the same thing we heard from Brent for Kowski earlier there's no way I'm ever gonna be outside of the top ten and all of a sudden you find yourself outside you find yourself scrambling and that's not a situation you've ever had to deal with before and we talked about the mental aspect of these CrossFit Games and how all the unknown and how all the cuts are playing on people and it's clear that it's having an effect exactly because you you can't imagine that these ladies physically are that much different right at this point so I think it really begs the question is this wearing on them mentally I think a hundred percent you can see it on their faces you can see it in the interviews you can see it when people when you ask athletes to react to different events that always comes up right that always comes up the point spread the cuts am I going to move on in the weekend so I mean yeah definitely been an exciting show for us watching here the men are now taking the field this is where we stand coming into the day after five events Noah also had a five point lead on Matt Fraser Jacob peppers and third it's pan chicken fourth and Adrian moon Wyler rounding out of the top 5 this is the exact same thing that we saw with the women the exact same course 30s and there are some men who are feeling the pressure that's Adrian moon Wyler who is in fifth place overall Matt Fraser starts the day in second place overall he will be in the opening Heat along with Jacob Hepler and the overall leader Noah ohlsen Olson will be right in the middle of the field he's wearing the white overall leader's jersey first qualifying heat is underway and it's Adrian who viola at the bottom of your screen who's gonna be first to make the turn good cut by Noah ohlsen in the middle of the field and Olson now looks like he has a little bit of a lead Matt Fraser on the far side getting to the pylons he's going to take the heat and now we see where everyone else slots in so it's Polson panchik moon Wyler Fraser at twenty six point four nine and Jacob Hebner rounding out and it was if Dan Bailey had called Noah ohlsen and told him don't throw your chest through throw your foot did you see him do that yep absolutely taking the good advice there yeah that was nice what did you have maybe he was watching the show this morning I would assume he probably knew it before I said anything great run for Olson though that's huge for him I mean winning year heat that's all you can do at this point twenty five point six is zero seconds for that man Noah ohlsen he for the second time in his career has the white leader's jersey and he had mentioned that this is something that he has been working on he knows that he's not quite as good with all kinds of different really short high power output events clean sprinting combining those two different things so this is something he's been working on and right now it just showed he even had a couple little fumbles through the pylons there so it basse what happened with the women how they kind of cleaned up their each run one after another not faster and he can do that no Olson could be really good in this event the next heat are the men five through ten Pat velders at the bottom of your screen he currently sits in 10th place overall he is the aunty Thorisdottir of this event he is the guy who has the target on his back everyone needs to beat him in order to get in to the top 10 who's on the outside looking in this is the sixth event for the men 2nd qualifying heat we'll have two semifinal heats after this and then a winner-take-all final heat results from Heat number one Noah ohlsen at twenty five point six zero seconds every man sub 27 Jacob pepper and 26.97 was just a half second slower than Matt Fraser Noah ohlsen now in two straight races has beaten Matt Fraser it's impressive putting the heat on yeah the pat Beller is going to be at the bottom of your screen he's in the maroon top Velma's got to get himself into at least a semifinal heat that'll make me the turn like Dorland car Lubitz in next to him Vincent's first knocks out the pylon James Newbery's in the middle of the field Felner making the turn to home boom it's it looks like he's going to get there first human sin across the finish line Bella I think may have taken for velders gonna get fit twenty six point one one but that is faster than some of the times that we saw in the last heat so he could be okay but it's bjurman Carl Goomba to twenty five point three six seconds Angie got Wilmore at the former soccer player Matt McLeod is in there James Newberry James Newberry was a little bit far behind on that one there are the official times of McLeod to twenty five point nine five more add twenty five point seven seven Newberry twenty six point oh six boom Anson though the fastest time and valor at twenty six point one one so Beltre was faster than three of the five times in the first heat the bjorgen carl gue manson straight weight straightaway speed again dan paying off yeah he definitely got to the first pylon first and then on the way back he was able to enter into where you have to make all those cuts first didn't make a mistake on any of the cuts and came away with the heat victory and a great time third of four qualifying heats coming up and now we get to the men who are on the outside looking in remember we have twenty athletes in the field right now we're cutting half of them after this event so the top ten move on and then it's that way for the rest of the weekend one of the ones to watch here Sean will be Cole Sager we talked about earlier on the show he needs to beat Pat vulner in this event to get himself into that top ten position so MCAS Holmberg is a guy that we also talked about he currently sits in 14th place overall he'll be at the top of your screen only get started Samuel Quandt is in the pink next to him [Applause] Logan Collins and Cole Sager along with Travis mayor the other men in the sieve Travis mayor's at the bottom of your screen [Music] Lucas home were the only one going with a standing start immediately gets left behind the Hobart railing here is Travis Blair and Logan Collins hit the turning point and made their way back looks like Travis Mayer has the lead over Logan Collins pull sagres in the middle of the field and then Samuel Kwan in the pink shorts to finish kind of mayor and it looks like Sager as Travis mayor 25.82 Cole Sager takes second one Collins and then Lucas Hobart finishing in fifth so that is great result for Travis mayor he was 15th place coming into this event 293 points he is 19 points back of pat Beltre who sits in tents so it looks like Travis mayor may be moving on Tavella in 26.1 1 still beats some of the times in that heats of Belmer just trying to get himself into the next round same guys that it's looking ok but Travis mayor with a great finish here as he got to the final pylons I was gonna say same thing with Cole Sager doing well getting under the 26 second mark in contrast to that Lucas Hobart did not do so well in this so I'm not doing potentially what he needed to do to stay in the event for the rest of the weekend this is going to be now the final qualifying heat as we take a look at the official results for the fastest times that we have to three heat so it's Dumas and Olson more at Mayer and sagres your top five times the Pat Felder is in there but he's in the bottom five and there's one heat to go again similar situation to the ladies we saw before your left on the sidelines just watching other other competitors kind of handle your desk exactly Chandler Smith in this next heat Saxons and check Eliot Simmons Joshua with Tripp and Casper's gamma mark caps are right there Elliot Simmons 17th place overall all the men in this final qualifying spot or in spots 16 through 20 capsular gamble mark and lane number nine he's making his first ever appearance here at the CrossFit Games and hoping to continue on here in the competition but men in this heat need to find a way to get themselves into the finals much like Caroline Revo did with the women she certainly helped her cause as she tries to get a spot inside the top 10 and yesterday when we were interviewing Chandler Smith he had mentioned that you would love to see some running come up but that we'd already see two running events so it'll be interesting if by running cement sprinting we're just longer running Jasper gamble mark is at the bottom of your screen Chandler Smith in the middle keep an eye on him right now he is 16th place overall and a couple stumbles at the start and it Chandler Smith looked back and it looks like they're gonna start over there was a false start it looked like Chandler Smith and Casper gamble mark closest to yours to your to the camera may have stepped across the line I'm interested to see what the penalty is is there a penalty there's a few different ways you can do this one you can disqualify those that fall started or you could charge a false start to the entire field and then the next person who fall starts is out I'm not sure how they're gonna handle it maybe they'll just walk back and do a run set I'm sure pet building right now is going up to Dave cash course send him in the scale cheated Johnson will wig truck walking back to the start line asking for an explanation as to what happened but if you look at the bottom left and Chandler Smith in the middle watch the stumble from that gamble mark stepping across then he does it again and then Chandler Smith gets his arm in the across as well and that's what may have triggered the false start and this is tough now all these athletes have to run again on the heels of just having sprinted I mean it wasn't far but you know that they got a good couple of yards underneath their belt we will restart the fourth and final qualifying Heat clean start Elliot Simmons looks like he's getting left behind gamble mark makes the turn making it now to the pylons Chandler Smith in the middle of the field looking like he's going to take third as we have a stumble from gallon bar who dives across the finish line so is Johnson will wick from Saxon panchik Chandler Smith jamemorg and Simmons so Pat valor-bean everybody but wick trip in this one so Beltre might squeak his way in to the qualifying semifinal he's now very good for Pat Bella in that time they're 2491 I think it's one of the fastest times if not be fast this time we've seen over all the heat so definitely a name to watch there with Josh Joshua wick trip remember he took 2nd place behind Lucas Hauberg in the ruck event Harvard unis a it was impressive because I knew he could run long and slow and obviously that didn't translate the Lukas hog Berg but it did for Joshua trip now we will have the ceremonial moving of the name placard over into the semifinal round everyone on the sidelines is holding their breath whose gavel mark stumbling and then just barreling over the finish line and with all of that he still has the fastest time coming out of the first round here's how wick Trobe navigated his way around the pylons yeah making those clean cuts he was the first to him obviously he's got the straightaway speed as long as the endurance as well as the endurance speed we saw from that ruck event and that's something that you want to see from an athlete at the CrossFit Games somebody who's incredibly well-rounded who can do both they can go incredibly long as well as incredibly short when it comes to sprinting weightlifting gymnastics any kind of modality or time-domain didn't we want to thank our media partners CrossFit for providing this world feed for us to bring to you here on the rogue iron game day three of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games Dave Eubanks who's talking into his microphone Casper's name down the interval Vaz when Casper's name down there was written in red or not this name but his time rather and I think that's because when he fell he bobbled outside of his lane is what it looked like he went outside of that yellow end lane marker and I think if you probably trace into anybody else's Lane any time during the event they're gonna hit you with a little bit of a pen which could also explain what happened with work Wells correct well it looked like patent owners time was also written in red on that board was it yes well some unknowns there that we got to get a little more in nation on we got knocked 10 seconds as well oh my gosh 30 silhouette what he might keep Felder 36 from on being on he's he's I mean from and dad like I'm staying in the competition right that is I gotta wonder what was the I don't know what anyways I don't know what it was either they're the only other thing I can think of as if potentially when they lined up something was over the line it that's exactly what it sounds like I'm guessing that or like you said some point in the race it's like straight into the other Lane yeah maybe a foot of shoe just went a little bit wide when they made a cut Wow so that is going to be big for athletes like joshua wick troof who is on the outside looking in as far as the cut goes because wick trip is in 19th place something about the number 19 your burn CarGurus is there Saxon panchik and Noah ohlsen is there as well now that's devastating for that bounder yeah like you said genre singing that men's competition right now play out a lot like the ladies as far as some of these physicians go [Applause] we had some of those guys you mentioned like Elliot Simmons Scott panchik down there in that 17 18th place feels like it's far away from that cut line but now you've got down there making a big drop down and then honestly only about 20 points separating them from the cut line and in these events with the cuts to changing in the scoring system definitely anything can happen right now especially since we're running an event where a tenth of a second mean the difference between you moving on to latter events on Saturday as well as into Sunday so it's more add cumin sin' wick trip who had the one of the faster qualifying ties that we've seen and again 19th place overall coming into this event Saxon panchik will be out there as well in this first two semifinal heat and then Noah ohlsen the overall leader would be in lane number nine so these are your times they're top 10 so it's wick trip at twenty four point nine one Newberry twenty six point oh six now a name I did not see in there Matt Fraser good sleeping you're right Matt Fraser Noah Olson has a huge opportunity here to start to put some distance between himself and Matt Fraser we don't know where Fraser is gonna finish he'll get the best he can do is 11 if he finishes 11 you would earn 50 points as opposed to if Noah would have finished first he gains a hundred Wow what a swing wing 50.50 point lead Olsen's lead right now over Fraser is only five points so Olson could get himself into the top five just get into the final he's gonna open up a good relief on that phrase look at will more ad who is in this first of two semifinal heats he's active you're open Carl rumensin and now Noah ohlsen a huge opportunity for him Wilson is gonna be at the bottom of your screen he's wearing the red beater shorts first semifinal heat is that way keep an eye in the middle of the field the man with the ponytail blond hair that's Joshua wick trip he tore through the first qualifying round Olson makes the turn Olson looks like he's about dead even with Rick trow Noah ohlsen has all five athletes it's a pylons at the same time it's going to come down to this final wreath it looks like a synchro event right now sprint to the finish not sure who got a good luck guessing well more will more at twenty five point two eight GU Madsen next to him panting his third wig truck is fourth and Olson is fifth less than point four seconds fewer than point four seconds separating first from fifth and that's typical for how these events go Wow so Wilmore ad who is in seventh place overall coming into this event looks like he's going to stay inside the top ten and move on it has a a great story for will more ads will more ads been down for the past couple seasons he and filet injuries have kind of taken him out he's had to take time to recover rebuild when he first came on the scene everybody knew he could lift a lot and he had really great conditioning was like wow this kid's gonna go somewhere it's great to see him back on the field at the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games will Mourad is going to move on you would assume unless everybody in the next Heath beats his time Dan Bailey here is a guy who I want to see out on that course send him down there Sean no warmup he did sixth event for the individual to the kickoff competition here on day number three of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games outside the jam-packed North Park of the Alliant Energy Center we really appreciate you being with us here today everybody hope you're enjoying our coverage is cross it brings you the world feed that we are putting on our rogue iron game so here a look at the athletes who are in the second qualifying Heat you've got James Newberry right next to another Australian Matt McLeod Travis Mayer pull Sager and Scott panchik second qualify heat is underway panchik and Sager hitting the pylon and making the turn to home Scott panchik looks like he's in second place as this is dead even again and this heat might be faster than the last one all five back across him to decided about the same time in his Travis Maher and Matt in the cloud they tied 25 point 9 8 seconds those two are moving on now the question I have in my head that 9 8 does the timer go out one more digit is that how they're gonna figure that one out or not I know it's not displayed here with that tie sometimes these timers it doesn't won't display but the judges can see an additional digit there to differentiate that good good news is though those are the two faster times those guys are moving on regardless now it's the next three and it's this is coming down to less than a seconds to decide who's going to be moving on to the finals Joshua wick TripIt at 25.49 as you count at the times in the 25 the more eyed looks like he might be the fastest so he's going to move on but I'm just closed this finish is gonna be I can't imagine what its gonna look like in the finals yeah it's gonna come down to every single piece of this race your straightaway speed how you make the cuts how you get through the pylons all of those things are gonna play a major factor when now we're talking about not just the tenths of a second not just the hundredths of a second but possibly thousands of a second and they did they added an extra number so more adds with 25 point two eight he's the fastest your vigau Vincent looks like he'll go over I think Saxon panchik is in there as well WIC trips gonna go and then I think it's gonna be maybe Noah old no it would be James Newport no no Olsen I think it's gonna go I think no Olsen will be next if I'm reading that correctly wait Trump and Olsen should be the next two which would be the entire first heat of that semifinal round if it's richer pin Nelson that would be something Pam that McCloud ninth place overall coming into this event we saw a little taste of his ability and leaving the sprint sled workout Matt McLeod he'd been incredibly where they're well they're push that sled up and down the field turns out take the weight off Boykin still not and that Fraser is gonna have his work cut out for him now as his gap between himself and Noah ohlsen on top of the overall leaderboard is going to get even bigger he had just a five-point deficit to make up to start the day but that's gonna grow here as Noah ohlsen is looking like he's gonna stay on top of the overall leaderboard the worst Knowles who can do right now is fifth that'd be 80 points the best Matt Fraser can do right now is 11 that would be 60 still a 20-point the fans just like we are waiting to hear the announcement of the final five athletes Scott panchik you came in in fourth place overall 355 points he's looking to gain ground on jacob Heppner who's just nine points up and on him for third place Joe Burke arguments in an 8th place that before some insurances he looks to stay in the top ten this reminds me of I think the first speed clean ladder that we had in Carson where rich Froning didn't didn't think he made it in and they called him out at the last minute and it was using the similar situation he had to battle back and make up at the deficit and the guy he was chasing was Noah ohlsen a little repeated history here yeah I can remember him sitting down up now we got a just got hit with a penalty we're gonna have to find out why that was maybe he strayed outside his Lane if he stepped on the yellow line at the end of the race that's a 10-second penalty Wow and that's huge for him because he needed to get into the finals and that opens the door for Matt McLeod's so now everybody it looks like in this final heat is already safe but Josh will wick trip 19th placed overall it doesn't look like he's gonna do enough to possibly jump into the top 10 but he did get into the semi fly and that one the faster time that's got a sting though because he had probably I think the fastest overall time of the day where he's handily beating most of the men probably thinking okay I get a hundred points in this event jump above the cut line and continue my competition but that will that time is not going to drop into the very bottom that'll drop it right n right as he did move into the semi final right that's that's gigantic between two sacks our magic because Saxon magic was 18 287 points 10th place Pat Beltre had 312 so Saxon panchik hoping to rockin up the leaderboard and inside the top ten and he might be knocking out fat feller in the process these are the top five times will more add twenty five point two eight seconds is point seven seconds separate more ad from Travis Mayer panchik Mourad your beam Karl guman Singh Noah ohlsen and the red leader shorts who will hang on to the overall lead heading into the next event Matt McLeod is out there as well will more ad seventh place overall we'll move on not only in this event obviously but also in the competition and see what's to stay inside the top ten no Olsen is just building his lead on Matt Fraser Matt McLeod one of those guys who came in we didn't know a whole lot about him and Matt McLeod looks like he's gonna be in the final heat of ten for the rest of the weekend and then that weight of getting cut is now lifted off your shoulders here for the rest of the competition yeah we saw one of one of his students he's a coach in Australia we saw one of his clients last night and she said this should be a really good event for him final he'd winner take all we are under way no Olsen your overall leader bottom you to screen next to him Grover and Carla boom it says Wilmore at is in the middle Saxon panting and then Matt McCloud all the athletes hitting the turn at the same time and we are dead even Gerber Carl group Monsanto looks like he's opening up a slight lead over Noah ohlsen guman Singh weaving his way through your fir Carl Vinson to the finish line is going to be goo Vinson I think panting is second and Olson will be third but it's Saxon page checked by three one hundreds of a second getting the event win that is gigantic for Saxon panchik 18th place overall coming into the event he's going to lock up 100 points Gorman rumensin will finish second Olsen his third so Noah ohlsen will pick up 90 points Wilmore ad is going to keep himself in the top ten as is Matt in the cloud but Saxon panchik huge move from him is hoping he did just what Carolyn Prevot may have done outside looking in in the final heat and earning a ton of points in the process being congratulated by Noah ohlsen and Saxon panchik knows he needed that I mean to go along with Haley Adam Saxon panchik another very young athlete somebody who doesn't have nearly as much as experienced as the rest of the field definitely stepping it up here taking some of that athletic background that the all the panchik kids affair to have racking up 100 points in this event and it was that last lunge over the finish line ourselves take out that leg and that that's experience coming into play if you've never dealt with that timing chip before you just didn't run on instinct these guys know now that they stick that leg out across the finish line and that's what's gonna trip the timing chip and Saxon magic rightfully so is pumped up because he may have just done what he needed to do to join his older brother Scott in the top ten for the rest of the weekend [Applause] Saxon you say you really needed that and now that you've gotten that event when how does it set you up for the rest of the events here to come it sets me up with a lot of confidence going into the rest of the events what's it like for you to be out here with your brother sharing the floor especially knowing that eliminations are coming and so are every point counts it's amazing that you know that's how it is during training sessions when we get together and you know competitions all we are always on congratulations thank you [Music] Saxon panshin 100 points now the question is did he do enough to get himself up into the top ten he came in with 287 points the only trailed Pat velder by I think 35 so there's a good chance at Saxon panchik moves into the top 10 well Pat bell nurse Taylor that's another big question he got hit with a penalty cuz it looks like he strayed out of his lane and that penalty again like we talked about Brent fikowski missing that that handstand walk these are mistakes that you just cannot make at this point in the game because it's gonna cost you your weekend we're gonna take a quick break get ourselves collected after that excitement and we'll be right back to recap everything that's gone down so far here on the road iron game from the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games
