the last quarter of 2021 can you imagine that sunny really who called quarters in the year you know normally i got quarters for normal people for normal people we're close we're very close to christmas yes we are i love christmas favorite favorite time of the year it's nice and cool everybody's just in good spirits and you know so i don't know why i actually got a christmas people so the thing is that though it hit me recently that 2020 and 2021 has been rough for a number of people it has we have lost a few well for some we have lost a lot yeah and to be honest if you wake up this morning you have to be good you have breath if you're able to even log on to watch us trust me you are doing better than a lot of folks that is so true i mean so far you have you have won all your battles to be here some obstacles take longer to actually hurl than others but the fact is you are here yes stick with us you will make it we continue to we continue to conquer and our war is never easy is never one on the first day exactly completely agree and so if you know you perhaps were invited to this to this service you know maybe you stumbled across us somehow and it's your very very they were on a break for a moment but now they're right back in and this is for our teens which is our 13 to 18. our tweens which is 10 to 12 and our power kids kids yes no i know shani is very excited to get back to the kids i am very excited to put them down in front of zoom and a half so i can kick up my foot somewhere else and we're happy when you do and or or po house kids the age group is three to nine so yes please ensure that you let your children join on so that they can be a part of worshipping god i mean those of you who are wondering what is this zombie zoom you know we who's special around here so zombie zoom is simply or online sunday school and it starts at what time andre it starts at 11 30. yes so ensure that you log your children on at that time no you know andre we spoke about it being a new month it being the month of october and what that what that means here for us it's our pastor's appreciation month really yes it is and that has totally slipped me i have a fun fact for you what did you know that pastors are celebrating around the world really in october it's not just a tlc thing no when i came to tennessee i thought it is not food didn't offend us one for those bigger our pasta one but it's really a worldwide it is isn't that interesting that in this one across the world right yes pastors are just being celebrated for all that they do and just being loved upon as a family we definitely want to do that for our pastors here so let us drop a little something encouraging in the chat right we're gonna kick off our month or or celebration of our pastors with some words of affirmation so just go ahead and drop something encouraging in the chat you know drop something to really lift their faith and make them operate now so shannon let's start off you give a word just look at think about three pastors three female pastors and just give a word of affirmation oh you are blessed and highly favored you are daughters of the king of kings don't forget that yes um to the men keep doing what you're doing you're leading right you're teaching us how to yeah and even better yet the ball head oh my and the beard of course it works it does it works it does don't doubt yourself it continues to work oh my yes yes right so we definitely will be loving on our passes this week and we will take this encouragement and just sending them love to our media with just encouragement and and and just blessings and love for our pastors this month no sonny over the past few weeks we've been speaking about ministry and joining ministries right now tlc we aim to try to make you more involved you feel more of a family when you are actually involved when you can see a counterpart you can interact with others no with that we've done it with through ministry yeah i mean any way you can serve any way you can help we are willing to accept it no some ministries have a higher barrier of entry sure there are others so like for example the worship ministry you have to be able to sing yes you can be like me so you have to audition right you're true well if worship means you have a place in it where you can just wave hands and do an ugly cry no that is that fit me we don't have that you don't you don't have that we don't have that all right so but i'm going for another administrator okay so let's go so let's see another ministry that we can if you're going to try to be an intercessor they have to interview you yes however there are other things that you can serve and you can help there are building of equipment tearing down equipment that is a ministry that anyone can have even the soon to be saved so if you're walking in a week you see i mean and you're willing to help yeah we are willing to accept it here is another situation that i know about i know someone who started off into doing sound engineering by setting up zone by setting up some equipment and building up for a church wow so you can build that skill by does help in us you understand i i i hear you andre and that is so true so family don't hesitate don't sign up for a ministry i mean as andre said whether you are you know soon to be saved or you've been on your journey for an extended period there is no reason to not join a ministry there is something there for everyone wherever you are on your spiritual journey yes so we will continue to celebrate and and just recognize persons serving in ministry so today we are going to focus on our team leaders right or coordinators and or sub-leaders so let's take a look at who they are [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] all right wonderful so in addition to the leaders right we have some additional persons to share with you so let's take a look as well at or long service members [Music] so [Music] do [Music] so [Music] no shani here's another part of worship that is really important where you also can also help us the community reach out and continue not only to uplift but to physically and practically help others and help the community and it's through your ties and offerings yes no we will soon be able we soon can give ties on our friends well tlc in itself we have tried many ways to make it as easy as possible for us what's the what's the term other than easy to make it simple simple yeah to provide your ties or to give it ties and offerings to the ministry and right now before we go into seeing how we can do that let us pray just be someone let us pray to discover the tides and the offered father we thank you for another time lord and we thank you for the opportunity that you have given us we thank you for the opportunity lord to bless others dear lord even in our most uncomfortable position father god or even when we think we can't do it our little among father god given with gratitude father god and given with happiness father god we bloom into so much more a small seed father god will give a bone to full fruit tree and father guys will give into the ministry dear lord help us to be good stewards father god of what is given to us father and help us to bless others and reach the mandate that you have bestowed upon our ministry dear lord and thank from our very own sofia summers williams let's take a look [Music] i started tlc or attending tlc 2012 december and it's because of my son matthew because i became a mom i believe it was the right thing to do to find a church home so i was fortunate to encounter to meet a client who's whose christ-like walk admired so i visited tlc and the word kept me and how they praised the lord kept me but 2015 september when my son luke was born that's when i knew they were my family when luke was born he almost died because of a nursing arrow and tlc came out in droves [Music] they saved us cheers [Music] wow what a moving moving testimony our hearts are with you sophia family i mean that just really shows us that or or or are to be fun you know this journey to our new home it's just so much more than just monetary contribution you know to me like we're we're building at a as community you know a home for us to really gather and so sofia's story continues through her son luke who recently celebrated his birthday i mean what a testimony of god's goodness right over the years i mean we have to you know as we as we pray as we think about what to give and really ask the lord what you know listen to what he's laying on our hearts we really have to think beyond and and what the endgame is you know what the ultimate result will be just being able to gather it's it's more than a building yeah you know where where it's a home we're building a family we're building a community for children like luke to grow up and just be feel loved and just feel a part of of i loving you nate that's so true and so you know we encourage you really just pray about what god is is saying pray ask god what he's telling you and just watch watch what he'll do i'm telling you just watch it what he will do no you mentioned one thing which was luke's birthday and you know tsc is all about celebration so this is another part where we want to celebrate where we want to bring in people yeah and what we'll be doing is for this week we're going to celebrate those persons who were born this week in october yeah so let us see who was born this week and who will be celebrating this week [Music] [Applause] to be alive to be in the presence of the lord and to give him thanks all we want is to be in his presence there we find the fullness of joy and this morning it's even more special because we get the opportunity to come to the communion table in remembrance of him this morning this great i am to break bread with each other so i trust that you would have had your bread or your crackers your juice your water and that we are ready to celebrate the great i am hallelujah you know as i prepared for our communion this morning i just kept on hearing the song holy spirit rain down rain down oh comforter and friend how we need your touch again and if there's ever a time right now we need the touch of the lord let your power fall let your power fall let your power fall let your voice be heard come and change our heart as we stand on your word and i sat there when i heard it and i was oh my lord and i thought how would it have been possible for us to have received this comforter this friend if our lord jesus didn't die and give up his body and his blood and then raise back from the dead to life and return to his father how would that have been attainable [Music] the process was made possible for a comforter to come because he died because his body was broken and because his blood was shed the possible the process was made possible on the cross and in john 14 16 jesus he made that promise to his disciples and he said i will pray the father and he shall give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever not just for a part of the time you know for ever another translation says and i will ask the father and another comforter and he will gift to you that he may remain with you to the end of the age that he may remain with you you know he reassured them he didn't just say it was he reassured them in john 16 17 to 15 saying nevertheless i tell you the truth it is expedient for you that i go away for if i go not away the comforter will not come unto you he knew how important and how necessary it would be for the comforter to come he said i gotta go so that he can come he said but if i depart i will send him i'm gonna send him for you he requested that of the father and what he requested and promised it was granted by our good good father all from the way back when he requested it of the father and it was promised and it exists today our holy spirit remains in second corinthians 1 3 it says he comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others when they are troubled we will be able to give them the same comfort god has given to us troubles we will have standard come with this life but he says he will comfort us this comforter who came when jesus's work was done he comforts us when we meet the troubles it is through accepting the sacrifice made on the cross that we gain access to this comforter if that didn't happen we would not have the comforter it happened so that jesus and jesus went and the comforter came he's the one who embraces us with love and peace and hope the one whose words we can stand on to change our hearts when his power falls on us let me tell you when the troubles come you know you need power you need you need powerful comfort powerful comfort when his power falls on us he's the one who keeps us you know currently my family is going through one of those valleys of the shadows of death experience and i am sure many of you know the pathway good good some people can't walk into their eyes closed you feel that way right now that place that is the passage between the prophecy you have received and the promised land that place there and we know what comes with that path we know the troubles but as i am going through this path right now i hear the lord saying to me focus focus andrea focus on the comforter what do you see him doing over there and if i say okay lord i see him breaking train i can't see that what did he just do over there and i said yes lord i see that look look what he's coming with over here andre did you see that and you know when the trouble is going on you know you really have to focus and see what the comforter is coming with over here what is he doing over there what just happened there and let me tell you something every time the lord makes a move in this valley of the shadow of death the power of god increases my faith my hope and my assurance of his faithfulness to see me through to the promised land the same thing he's doing for you with this called this comforter because jesus obeyed and went through his valley of the shadow of death and none of us will know that that valley that one day different from our other that one took him to hell and back anybody who catch hell not coming back right that one took him to hell and back and he gave his body and his blood and he fulfilled the work on the cross and in the earth and then [Music] he prayed father for the comforter and he promised the comforter now the comforter has come the one who comforts us in all troubles according to second corinthians 1 3 family that's a good reason to celebrate at the communion table this morning that's a wonderful reason for me during this time to celebrate at this table so we're going to welcome the holy spirit again our comfort and friend i'm going to ask the team to come again to come and rain down as we eat and drink i want us to reflect on the lord jesus christ the sacrifice that he made on the cross the work that he accomplished and i was finished the promise what he prayed to the father and the promise the father fulfilled in sending the comforter and i want you to power i want you to receive the power that comes with this comfortable friend made possible made possible by the broken body and the blood of our savior hallelujah hallelujah [Music] [Music] feeling touching your heart his embrace [Music] look he's coming over there look can you see him what did he just do for you [Music] hallelujah [Music] you're comfortable corinthians 11 23-24 paul writes for i receive from the lord what i also pass unto you the lord jesus on the night he was betrayed he took bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and said this is my body which is for you do in remembrance of me lord we thank you for your body which was broken for us for the complete work done in your death resurrection and return to the father making it possible for the comforter to come and remain with us to the end of the age lord as we partake of these emblems let us never forget that the comforter is here here to comfort us in all our troubles which you said we will have in this life but we are thankful for the assurance of eternal salvation and life and for our blessed holy spirit the comforter lord we say bless this now unto our bodies in jesus name we pray amen let us eat [Music] he continues in verse 25 in the same way after supper he took the cop saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood do this whenever you drink it in remembrance of me and so lord this morning we thank you for your blood which was shed for us which still has mighty power today the power to wash away our sins the power to save the power to deliver morning it is my pleasure to introduce our minister sonny stewart one of our own homegrown ministers you would have experienced her yes you would have experienced her on ignite the girl is in the mission and going on with things and she's ready to continue to start the series no listen take up a leaf out of our book and get ready to join the mission if you haven't and if you are on the mission get ready to ramp it up or not a notch because she's ready to go so welcome minister sony stewart beautiful lady [Music] hallelujah hallelujah thank you so much for that pastor andrew good morning family i'm so excited to be here i'm so excited what a wonderful time of worship god is so good if you've been having a great time in worship this morning just put it in the chat oh what an excitement what an excitement so this morning i want to share the word that the lord has impressed upon my heart for us all and if you're joining us for the first time we are in week four of a series entitled join the mission in week one pastor jones explained what this mission was about to go therefore and make disciples as well as how we can prepare for this mission by having the right mindset and attitude in weeks two and three pastor dwight came out knocking with the stages of discipleship making the next steps to spiritual maturity as we join the mission and counting the cost of joining the mission now today i want to speak to you about spiritual disciplines necessary for the mission so we know the mission has not changed for over 2 000 years well 2000 years ago when jesus walked the earth and commissioned the disciples to go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the blessed precious holy spirit it's still the same today family you know i just love how intentional god is even this very time of the year that he would cause us as a church to be doing this series join the mission it aligns with the prophetic significance of the new year we have just entered according to the hebrew calendar so while we are in october 2021 on the gregorian calendar we actually recently entered the new jewish year of 5782 which is also called bay pit and what's so significant about this year is what it means it's representing the son of god jesus christ of nazareth so as it's signifying the year of the sun it's also signifying according to you know the jewish prophets that it signifies the house of god the host that god is building so here it is in this new jewish year that the host is the lord is building his hopes we are in a season where god wants to build a host through the proclamation of the good news of his son jesus christ you know we are in an extraordinary window of harvest time indeed the harvest is ripe in our very own nation jamaica now more than ever the souls of men are longing for the salvation of god hallelujah so will you join this mission and if we are a part if we are to be a part of this mission of bringing in the harvest as fishers of men we must learn to cultivate certain spiritual disciplines that will equip us to go therefore and make disciples we must foster our relationship with the lord so i want us to spend some time looking at two men in scripture who were commissioned by the lord to go therefore and make disciples after they spent some time fostering a relationship with the lord in the book of acts chapter 13 and that's our main scripture for this morning and i'm going to be reading verses one to three and it's from the new king james version big up new king james version yeah and it says no in the church that was at antioch there were certain prophets and teachers barnabas simeone who was also called nigel lucius of cyrene manaeon who had been brought up with hera the tetrarch and saul as they ministered to the lord and fasted the holy spirit said now separate me barnabas and saul for the work to which i have called them then having fasted and prayed and laid hands on them they sent them away every time i've read this passage i've stopped to pause and reflect on verse 2 which says as they ministered to the lord what does it mean to minister to the lord what does it mean to minister so a great way to understand a word used in scripture is actually to examine it in its original language that it was written and while the old testament was written in hebrew the new testament was written in greek so let's examine the greek word for ministered the greek word and it's pronounced le tor geo means to do a service or perform a work and it usually refer to the priests or the levites who served in the tabernacle or temple of god offering sacrifices prayers you know worshiping supplications things of that sort so if we are to get an understanding of what ministering to the lord means it involves worshiping god praising praying listening to and also honoring the lord so the teachers and prophets including barnabas and saul which we know is also called paul worshiped and praise and pray to and listen to god no this was not some surface level thank you thank you praying right but praising and worshiping in spirit and in truth ministering to the lord in a with a pure heart this not only empowered them to go to different cities to preach the gospel but it also first to the jews and then to the gentiles but it also gave them boldness and courage as they faced persecutions of all kinds after this time of ministering to the lord we see how paul and barnabas they were able to make disciples you know i shared the scripture of acts 13 and later on if we were to continue reading the book of acts when you get to acts 14 he actually saw the fruit of them ministering to the lord ministering to the lord what was the result it says in acts 14 verse 21 that after paul and barnabas preached the good news in derby they made many disciples and that's the same thing that we want to do that's why we want you to get involved in joining the mission with us in this season so i want us to spend some time looking at how we can like barnabas and paul minister to the lord oh i just love saying it minister to the lord by developing disciplines in the lord now these disciplines will equip us so we can join the mission i mean we've been saying it over and over and i tell you the season that we're in is the right time for us to join the mission people of god let's join the mission so that we can go therefore and make disciples i want you to put that in the chat go therefore and make disciples hallelujah so this morning while it's important for us to do the disciplines of the lord in the lord i want us to focus on three of those disciplines now if you have not already done so i want you to take out your thermal notes which can be found in the description tab on youtube or if you're watching us from our website you can access the ceremony from the note section so we'll be looking at as i said three spiritual disciplines that will equip us that will equip me that will equip you for the mission we're joining the mission this morning so the first spiritual discipline that i want us to talk about is spending time with god in order for me in order for you to spend time with god we must make him our first and our main priority in our lives in other words our personal relationship with the lord ought to come before our spouses children family career extracurricular activities you name it christ the lord god must be first place in our lives and i want to share this scripture with you just to show you how jesus expects us to just follow him wholeheartedly and it's luke 14 verses 26 to 27 i'm reading from the message version i like using different translations so you'll see a lot of that and it says anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father mother spouse children brothers sisters yes even one's own self can't be my disciple anyone who won't shoulder his own cross and follow behind me can't be my disciple and i share this scripture and it may seem like a hard pill to swallow and that's why i kind of read it in the message version because it paraphrases it but the the importance of us getting is just whole jesus wants us to follow after him with everything that we have and so if we're to spend time with the lord on a daily basis we must make him our first priority now once i have settled in my heart that god is my main priority then it becomes easier to set aside time quiet time not just time quiet time daily to seek his face i must set aside quiet time daily to seek the face of the lord no personally for me i have had beautiful encounters with the lord during the hours of three and six am in the morning when the horse is quiet there is no lawn mowers outside my dog is asleep she's not barking at the wind or birds and you know my mother is also asleep even jesus christ did this in mark 1 35 and i'm using the niv version it says very early in the morning while it was still dark jesus got up he left the house and he went off to a solitary place where he prayed now if jesus the son of man who came to take away the sins of the world so that we could be reconciled to god the father if he set aside time to spend with our heavenly father how much more do we need to find time to set aside quiet time uninterrupted time to spin with or heavenly father or abba it's very important and so family i want you to answer that call this morning in fact if you find yourself waking up around the same time in the morning but i tell you i went through a season of that in the wee hours of the morning like four o'clock your eyes just open bright and you can't sleep and you know you're not anxious about anything and you know you haven't got a full night's rest it could very well mean that the lord is waking you up he's prompting you to come to a place of intimacy with him i want you to answer that call answer that call today if you've been having it and you want to roll over and sleep get up yes and spend time with the lord amen amen now there are numerous benefits of spending time quiet time with the lord and i want us to focus on four this morning so the first one is that it allows us to know god through fellowship with him i mean there's such a beautiful encounter that we can experience when we just set aside that time and we learn more about god and his character and his love for us it's truly a beautiful time of communion if you're able to just sit that side of time to to hear him speak and to hear to hear him speaking to you you're knowing that knowing that it's not your thoughts you know what a beautiful thing that is and the second benefit that i want us to make note of this morning is that it allows us to bring our needs before him you know you might have some things that you are petitioning or you're believing for and it's a great way in that quiet space when there's no distraction you can seek the face of the lord the third one that i want us to look at is that it allows us to receive direction and guidance for daily decisions i know i need to have the blessing and the direction of the lord daily as i go throughout my day is it the same for you if it's the same for you you can just put a man in the chat you know we want to be working on this journey our christian journey we don't want to walk alone we need that direction that guidance it's just a beautiful way that we can receive instructions for the day and finally another benefit the fourth benefit is that it equips us to bear spiritual fruit that spiritual fruit that allows us to go there for and made disciples amen amen now we can also spend time with god through our daily communion with the holy spirit and if you've been joining us from this morning in our worship boy the presence of the lord is in this space i know you feel it at home what a beautiful time we invited the presence of the lord and he is indeed here wouldn't it be awesome to have that encounter on a daily basis even while you're at work if you're working from home if you have to go into the office i want to share this scripture it's actually one of my favorite scriptures it's second corinthians 13 verse 14. and here the apostle paul was declaring over the church at corinth he said the grace of the lord jesus and the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all what a beautiful prayer for we need not walk alone when the helper has been made available to us to guide us into all truth you know my daily communion with the holy spirit went to our next went to the next level based on a life group that i led at tlc by the way if you haven't joined a life group i don't know if it's too late but this is just to tell you that life groups are awesome at tlc and next semester don't let it miss you because they're just great things that you can garner from life groups so this life group that i led it was called good morning holy spirit by benihin and if you've done that live or even the life group the anointing which i think is another book by benihin as well you'll understand this this testimony or this experience that i'm going to share with you right now and then he shared his own testimony of encountering the the precious holy spirit at a catherine coleman meeting and i think this was probably in the 1970s and how that led to daily communion with holy spirit having read that it invited me into a deeper fellowship with holy spirit he shared that each morning as he welcomed the presence of the lord in his room by simply saying good morning holy spirit i want us to just say that good morning holy spirit put that in the chat good morning holy spirit hallelujah what followed were glorious times of encounter you know through the physical manifestation of holy spirit the holy spirit came and sat with him and revealed deep things in the word of god and equipped him to go therefore and made disciples now many of us may know of the powerful move of god through this man of god's you know ministry he he's known as a healing evangelist and the the many healing crusades that the lord has you know led him to host over the years and just to know that this was birthed out of a time of communing with the holy spirit on a daily basis there's such a similar invitation for us this morning for us today and so i want you to accept that invitation that the holy spirit is calling you into a deeper communion with him that you may be equipped that i may be equipped to go there for and make disciples so we looked at the first spiritual discipline spending time with god and no one wants us to look at the second one which is living in the word and the word here means the word of god now i foster my relationship with the lord when i read his word this means each day i set aside time to read my bible no this is more than simply reading a passage of scripture daily or subscribing to a bible plan on you version i know a lot of us know you version if boy if that one reaches you can just sit out and put it in the chat it's more than that you know not just subscribing to the daily pro i'm just taking it off that you've read the daily the scripture for that day or taking that screenshot of the scripture for that day and posting it on your social media boy i want to connect again yes it's not just that it's it's more than that it involves memorizing the word of god and meditating on it and i want to leave you with this powerpoint i kind of got that from pastor jones hey powerpoint memorizing puts god's word in my head but meditating put god's word in my heart and that's where the transformation takes place when it moves from your head to your heart that transformation that allows us to go therefore and make disciples so i want to share with you joshua 1 verse 8. another favorite scripture of man i've got a lot of favorite scriptures joshua 1 verse 8 and are using the nlt version it tells us study this book of instruction continually meditate on it day and night so you'll be able to you'll be sure to obey everything written in it only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do and i want to say to you family that meditating on the word of god is a major key somebody said major key major key to yeah thank you major key hallelujah to succeeding on the mission now what i found from living in the word is that i receive revelatory knowledge a greater understanding of god's character and wisdom concerning next steps for my life and it's the same for you god is not partial right when i'm anchored in god's word i find that i i look forward to spending more time with him do you see how you know number two is matching up with the first spiritual discipline and you can experience this too now i want you to make note of this because this can really help you in living in the world and there are different ways that we can study god's word and i want to just share some of those ways that you can use so the first way that we can study god's word is by studying a theme of the bible no and an example could be the fear of the lord for example you know a lot of times we might hear fear of the lord that we may think like fear like spiritual fear but that's not necessary that's not the fear that it's talking about the reverential fear the ah the wonder of the lord if you were to study scriptures that spoke of the fear of god you would get a greater understanding of the lord's character and he would reveal things to you as well you know in your relationship with him so that's one way studying a theme of the bible another way is by studying a book of the bible and we just finished our series on the book of philippians everybody remember that yeah and wasn't that awesome especially in these times that we're in right now how we just needed to be reminded to have our eyes fixed on god and to just you know have his peace as we go through the different trials and the third one is by studying a passage in the bible and we can link that to what i started out with this morning remember i shared with acts 13 verse 2 and as speaking about what ministering to the lord means and how i got into the greek meaning and how that helped to just unravel and unpack the scripture that's one way that you can study the word of god too by studying a passage in scripture and you can also study a bible word a big one could be faith humility what does it really mean to be humble humble yourself under the mighty hand of god you know things like that studying that that can help you to to build yourself in the lord and to have a greater understanding of him and his word and finally we can study another way that we can study the word of god is by studying a bible character no i have gotten you know words from different ministers that there's a esther calling on my life so you know that book of the bible that i would be studying would be esther how about you have people say that you have a heart that is after god you're after god's own hearts you know you could study king david or you could study daniel if you have a prophetic calling or if you're waiting on your boas you're studying the book of ruth you know there are so many different books of the bible or bible character yeah i had to put that one in there for the single ladies right yes studying the book of ruth how do we spend time in the fields right right there are lessons to learn right there so that's the second and spiritual discipline that will help us and equip us to go there for and make disciples and i want us to look at the third spiritual discipline this morning and that is praying in faith no praying in faith comes from a place of abiding in christ and his word so that whatever we ask it may be granted to us john 15 7 the nat version puts it this way and this is jesus christ speaking if you remain in me and my words remain in you ask whatever you want and it will be done for you when we abide in christ and in his word we gain god's perspective for our lives and for others so that when we pray we know that he will grant us accordingly and i wanted to really pay attention to this point that i'm going to share right now having spent time with the lord and his word i can come boldly before the throne of grace because i know god's will for me hallelujah i said it again when i spend time with the lord and when i spend time in his word i get a greater understanding of him and his character so i can come boldly before the throne of grace because i know that i'm i'm praying in accordance with his will i'm praying in faith no faith does not stand alone it is faith in god the truth is anybody can pray but not everybody can confidently pray if there is no relationship with god hey hallelujah somebody better receive that word yes and that's why the two first disciplines are important because if there's no relationship if you're not spending time with the lord if you're not in his word then you're going to be praying soulish prayers and not going to be praying prayers in faith or prayers that have effect you know now i want to say this that praying in faith is not opening the bible and putting your finger on a verse at random when you're faced with a difficult situation arm pressing issue boy don't want to connect like if you cut it can you just say ouch just out i mean we've all been there right we've all been there at some points in our walk with the lord where we want his wisdom concerning something and because we're not hearing an answer we randomly open the bible we randomly open the bible to a verse and we're declaring this is what god is saying the devil the blood no no okay so it's not a verse that you grab here it is it's not a verse that you grab but it's a verse that grabs you as the holy spirit applies the word to you in your context i need to say that again it's not a verse you grab so don't open the bible grabbing no no snatching what a verse that grabs you as the holy spirit applies the word to you in your context now what do i mean by this i'm going to give you a personal example so recently i started rereading the book of psalms and my heart posture at the time was seeking the lord for wisdom concerning my future so i started with someone and it's a psalm that i've read many times i mean in fact i remember this lovely institution that i went to almost trust high school for girls because my wool must family our first form teacher made us memorize the king james version of someone the king james version right right the king james version and so it's something that i've been familiar with yet in reading this scripture again verse 6 grabbed me as the holy spirit applied it to my life and my future and psalm 1 verse 6 says for the lord knows the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish and i just started focusing on that first part where it said the lord knows the way of the righteous hallelujah that phrase started to minister to me and of course me loving word studies i did a quick word study of that phrase and it revealed that the way of the righteous meant the course of life for the godly that god was watching over the destiny of his people of the godly of those who are in upright standing with him those who walk according to his precepts god was watching over my destiny whether that destiny was choosing this road or another there was no need for me to worry be anxious or fair because god was the one that was directing my course of life as he watches over my destiny hallelujah from there what do you think happened i could pray with a heart of thanksgiving and boldness i could boldly come before the throne of grace i was not fearful because of what psalm 1 verse 6 said as i was reading it and i mean it's not me gravity's it grabbed me you know through the power of the holy spirit i could come vote i could pray in faith hallelujah god is watching over my destiny i could petition in faith knowing god god knew the way i would go now what i've just described involved six steps to praying in faith and i want you to make note of it so the first one is abiding in christ you know we've been speaking about this from morning you know setting aside time to spend with the lord and to seek his face and you know time that is uninterrupted and we also spoke about the second one which is abiding in his word abiding in the word of god and thirdly allowing the holy spirit to lead you in truth it's a beautiful thing the holy spirit you know pastor joe pastor andrea uh referred to this earlier as we were doing communion that you know jesus left so that the helper could come the helper is the godhead on earth with us now the revealer of all truth that is the holy spirit and we can another step in praying in faith is asking according to god's will hallelujah not according to or you know um desires or fleshy desires but according to the will of god because what he knows the way that we would go he knows the way of the righteous and accepting his will in faith accepting god's will in faith knowing that whatever comes whatever happens as i said earlier god is watching over my destiny and i just share that because of the the example that i gave but and you know the lord could be even using that to minister to you no acting and the final one acting based on god's word to you so because of what i received and acknowledged and i felt it and it ministered to my spirit i could then go forth praying in faith but yes taking action to walk because i knew what god said to me so now i want to tell you a true story true story somebody say true story true story about a man named robert who prayed in faith for the salvation of his clients and led many people to christ now this would not have been possible without his commitment to developing these spiritual disciplines that have mentioned this morning to go there for and made disciples right so let's call robert the evangelist stock broker now for over 35 years he worked as an expert witness for attorneys who defended people who lost large sums of money and trusted to their stock brokers and if you are into sucks you'll understand just how serious this is now because of robert's expertise as a former stockbroker himself he had been called in by these attorneys more than 1500 times remember i said that his career spanned over a 35-year period so he was called in by these attorneys over 1500 times to interview their clients and many of these persons were senior citizens and widows and because of his expertise concerning the financial industry it helped the attorneys to build cases against these top brokers and financial institutions they believed that had taken advantage of their clients so the people robert interviewed usually were in extremely desperate situations you know putting their life savings into socks just just in bad streets and they were in search of hope and vindication now over the course of a year leading up to each trial robert pointed these people towards jesus hallelujah the one who offered true salvation robert reported that in nearly each of the 1500 times he had met with a client he had prayed for the person to receive jesus as their personal lord and savior unless that person already knew christ you know he was acting in accordance to first timothy two verse four that says the lord desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth what is that truth that jesus is the way the truth and the life hallelujah hallelujah and almost every non-christian person that robert had prayed for in those office settings had become a christian hallelujah that was how he joined the mission if the person was already a believer he would pray that they would experience even a greater power and joy through the holy spirit so not only praying for people to receive christ but even building on those who were in christ you know building them building them up hallelujah hallelujah and he even shared an encounter where one of those he not only prayed for the clients themselves but he also prayed for the attorneys and one of the attorneys that he prayed for was an alcoholic and praying for him that man got radically saved became a lover of jesus and he even went on to open his own law firm and he made sure that the foundation of that law firm was jesus christ of nazareth look at what robert the evangelist top broker did because he got a revelation of what the lord wanted him to do and he you know spent time with the lord spent time in his word so he could therefore go and make disciples hallelujah so earlier i shared about benihin right and how he cultivated intimacy with the lord through and that empowered him to go therefore and made disciples and you may have heard of other generals in the faith i mean if you're like me i love studying the generals of the faith smith wigglesworth catherine coleman john g lake you name it right these people these men and women of god sacrifice great times of pleasure to seek the lord grow in intimacy and mature in the faith and that led to them doing great exploits for the kingdom of god yet you may be saying boy but i'm only a teacher i'm just a financial advisor i am not no benihane i not really have no healing crusades where i'm just doing this and the holy spirit just you know people falling out under the fall but remember i shared about robert the evangelist stop broker at over 35 years because he was committed to joining the mission to going therefore and making disciples that many came to christ and many were empowered in their walk with the lord and it's the same for you god has strategically placed you in your workplace he has strategy and even if you're working from home i mean you have the great tool of social media since culver a lot of people are working from home the social media interaction has definitely increased and gone up so you can go therefore and make disciples from the comfort of your living room from your home office your bedroom you can still join the mission hallelujah somebody said join the mission join the mission put that in the chat we want to join the mission so you know the truth is some of us just need to rekindle that fire within us you know birth from our times of intimacy with the lord we have lost sight of our first love and have become lukewarm that has hurted or effectiveness to go there for and make disciples the truth is that we need to repent we need to repent so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the lord and i tell you there's just a sweet presence of holy spirit here in the sanctuary and i know that you're feeling it feeling the holy spirit at home as well now if you can relate to this if you feel that you haven't been spending time with the lord i want to pray for you right now i want to lead i want to lead us through a prayer of repentance so i want you to join me people of god as i just pray right now i say father in the name of jesus we come before you lord we acknowledge that indeed lord we have just gotten distracted with different things lord we have lost sight of our first love and father we repent lord we want to partner with you almighty god to do what you would have us do in the earth so father we pray that lord as we turn away from the things that have distracted us lord we say we are committing once more to making you lord our main priority help us lord give us the ability father god to spend time with you lord so that we can join the mission in the mighty name of jesus i pray amen amen amen yet you know there are others of us who simply need to take the next step of accepting jesus as our lord and savior we need to be real and say lord i'm a sinner i have been doing things my own way and it has led me nowhere i need you and i want to pray for you too in fact i want you to repeat this prayer after me and so let us pray lord today i recognize that i am a sinner that i have been doing things my own way i have been selfish lord i have been displeasing you forgive me father come into my heart i accept jesus as my lord and savior hallelujah in jesus name we pray amen just a simple prayer of just acknowledging if you have said that prayer from a place of purity trust and know that the lord has heard your prayer this morning and generally if you need help in navigating how to spend time with the lord how to quiet your heart to hear his voice concerning how he wants to you to become a part of the mission or just prayer support i want you to head over to the zoom prayer room this morning there are intercessors waiting for you in the breakout rooms where you'll have one-on-one time where they'll pray for you and with you i want to leave you with this family as we as we saw how paul and barnabas they you know spent time praising worshipping and just ministering to the lord that the holy spirit separated them for the work that he would have them do it's the same way that i want us people of god to minister to the lord by spending time with him by living in his word and by praying in faith hallelujah so that we can go therefore and made disciples baptizing them hallelujah in the name of the father who the son and the holy spirit and the people of god say amen and amen thank you people of god have a wonderful wonderful sunday god bless you amen amen hallelujah bless the lord we have a good farm here at tlc and i say homegrown yeah man good good farm we have going here yes we bless the lord this morning so this morning our minister sonia she spoke to us on navigating the mission on our spiritual road map and she shared with us the spiritual disciplines necessary for ministry and service so you see we have been given our own mapping on to walk you through the process we're not just enjoying the mission or move on we are taking you through i'm giving you everything that you need now the first thing she said to us is that we need to spend time with god we need to make him our first priority first and most important priority in life that means you're gonna have to set ourselves some time and spend with the lord and talk to him and hear what he has to say some of us are always talking talking i don't give the lord any time to talk the second thing is that we need to live in the world and she told us that we can do that by studying a theme a book a passage but spend time in the word of god and our big powerpoint which i need to repeat for her was that memorizing the word put the words in our head but meditating on the word put it in our heart i want it to be in our heart to the point where we know it start coming out of our pores where we are living it yes very good the third thing she said was that we need to pray in faith and she gave us the six steps to pray and faith one was to abide in christ abide in the word a lord of holy spirit to lead and you have your good good notes go and read the notes and you get the other three so you have to go back to the notes to get them this morning we got our road map so now we are even more equipped to join the mission and to grow in the mission and to push on in this mission and so now i want to invite you to go and receive some prayer receive some prayer as it relates to the word that we have just received and for anything else join our ministers in the zoom room they are waiting for you you go on you'll be going to a main hall and then you go into a breakout room and there they'll minister to you i also want to remind you to to fill out your connection cards if you haven't done so yet please go fill out your connection card so we will know how to support and to pray for you as we go through the week and we also want to remind you to log on your kids to zonde zoom at 11 30. they're getting the word as well they need to learn the importance of being a part of the mission from a very tender each so lock them on so that they can receive the word of the lord and as we go this morning my family i want you to go with the comforter this week the holy spirit go in his power go standing on his words go knowing that he is your lord it is by his power that we can join this mission you know and it is by his power that we will do his will and my family the peace of god that surpasses all understanding regard your hearts and your minds in christ jesus have a supernatural week [Music]
