Spicy Orange Chicken Wings - "Panda Wings" - Spicy Orange Buffalo Chicken Wings Recipe

hello this is chef john from food wishes comm with spicy orange chicken wings right so i kind of nicknamed these panda wings because they were inspired by a certain very popular spicy orange chicken dish at a certain chinese fast-food chain and you know i'm always looking to add new recipes to our already award-winning collection of chicken wing recipes and i think this is going to be one of our most popular ever so here we go so first i took some orange marmalade any kind of orange jam will work but one thing you want to really look for i don't want any white chunks I see some orange marmalade they are full of the membrane and the and the pith of the orange this let me get it close up here this is just the orange jelly and some of the zest that's fine the zest is fine see the orange you don't want any white you don't want something too bitter you want something sweet to that I'm gonna add rice vinegar some hoisin sauce which is basically my secret ingredient although you know I don't really don't have security ins because you know I post my videos in public for hundreds of thousands of people couple big spoons of sambal chili paste chili sauce which is basically ground red chilies you can use freshly chopped red spicy peppers you can use red pepper flakes so if it's a red pepper and it's spicy it'll probably work alright and then for some salt I'm going to add a tablespoon of soy sauce and that's it a very very simple blend I'm going to turn my heat to medium-high I'm going to bring that up to a simmer and I'm going to cook it for about five minutes I want to reduce it just a little bit in hindsight next time I probably would include a couple cloves of mashed minced fine garlic and you can go a lot of different directions with this of course so basically this is the first version of this kind of concept for me so this will continue to evolve so it got boiling there pretty good be careful that doesn't boil over you will have a huge mess and of course you'll blame me which is fine because it is my fault because if you hadn't seen this video you never would have tried this so once that sauce is boiled for about five minutes just turn it off set it aside alright so the sauce is done and of course I need a batch of oven fried chicken wings we've done this technique in like four video and I'm going to put a link in fact it's right there see that link it just popped up I'm going to put a link it takes you to the videos where you can see that technique you got to try it I've been fried wings do not deep-fry your wings no need especially for a big party you don't that mess do in the oven so the hot wings go in the bowl our orange sauce gets labeled over enough to coat there's no amounts here come on you know how to do it give it a toss let it sit for five minutes it'll soak in soak in the goodness then hit it with a little more sauce just to push it over the edge cuz it was good but it wasn't like holy beep good okay and you know what I hate to Pat myself on the back because you know I got a bad rotator cuff but I'm gonna have to a little bit here for just guessing at the glaze this tasted remarkably similar to that certain Chinese takeout chicken and there it is spicy orange chicken wings or as I jokingly refer to them panda wings so if you like that spicy orange takeout chicken and you like chicken wings man I'm thinking you're gonna love this and of course you're looking for a new exciting chicken wing recipe for your Super Bowl party or any party this is it or it could be it add stuff to it play around with it let me know what you do with this and then I'll steal your version okay all the ingredients are on the site as usual and as always enjoy you
