Spartans Do NOT Care About The Odds! | Total War: Rome 2 Siege

all right what's up guys it's apollo here and welcome back to another siege battle in total war roam 2. this one is fantastic it is a great battle from start to finish so sit back relax get some snacks and drinks and enjoy the bloodshed this is going to be an hour-long siege so it's going to be an epic one i hope you guys will enjoy so this was during a live stream i'm trying to stream monday through friday at 2pm uh mostly doing rome 2 sieges i mean i've been really enjoying it lately it's been a lot of fun and yeah i'm just having a blast i actually have another siege battle where i play as rome and i i know often times people say you know i want to see a good roman player not not to say i'm the greatest player but i feel like i do a pretty good job so you'll see that coming out soon it's a great battle anyways this one is amazing let's jump in here and uh look at the factions really quick oh by the way guys if you enjoy my videos don't forget to like it does help a ton also in here let's look at the attackers we got rome big bad rome over here we have the egyptians who are going leroy jenkins in right now they're just going all in and it actually looks pretty good why is it so laggy what the heck it actually looks pretty good here because um there's not much in terms of a defense so yeah they're going all in and then we have swaby so swaby on the battlefield they are a great fear faction they have a lot of units that can hurt the morale of your units and they're just kind of hanging back and they are attacking really far away from their allies so we'll see how that plays out now looking at the defenders i am sparta everybody wanted me to play sparta so i'm bringing a smaller more elite army i think i've got uh 15 units on the battlefield uh most of them spartan hoplites then we have kush good old kush joining the spartans kush is a really good faction they'll do really well against the factions we're taking on except for swaby uh but they'll do well against egypt and rome because they're heavily armored and then finally we have massace lee miss cecily a great faction good to see him usually i mean they're fairly popular you see them a little bit uh but yeah there we go those are the armies let's jump in here and see how this is progressing well we've got the egyptians throwing in their mercenary forces we have the galatian swordsmen going in and they're taking on the thorax swordsman of messacely and uh we got more swordsmen here so you can see he's just going all in with his barbarians which is a really it makes a lot of sense to do to do that one they're they're fairly cheap uh they're medium melee infantry you know uh and also if you're worried about kush it's best to well actually i guess since he's not facing kush he's sending in the more lighter units i mean this is a medium it's not like their light infantry because you know the heavier the infantry the more they struggle against those um shotel warriors oh nice job with these glacian swords so we've got uh some axe warriors trying to hold this little corner stairway uh against egypt but they are about to break here this is gonna quickly cause the men to break that will break any man i mean seriously imagine fighting in the front line and then right behind you people are throwing pointy spears at you yeah it wouldn't be fun over on this side rome is attacking miss miss aceley as well so you can see that miss aceley is getting kind of double teamed here and i do have some forces nearby and i really need to start pushing up my forces but i'm just kind of i'm playing more of a support army right here because my army's so small because my army is high quality i'm just kind of waiting for an opportunity to kind of push in and really help miss cecily out it's not like it's panic mode right now i mean he's got rome under control he's got plenty of units to deal with rome and the way that this map is laid out and also i've got some archers over here you can see i pushed up some hell out archers i just kind of skirmishing down the hastati which are doing a pretty good job let's see let's look at the kills here really quick 95 kills already so they're getting a good bunch of kills that is my contribution into helping uh the message aliens but now i'm moving up my spartan hoplites so this is my first unit of infantry going into the fight i see a little opportunity here to kind of get a flank on but really i'm just moving them up to be there in range like to quickly support my ally if i need to send them in you know like just having them close by is what i'm trying to say now over here i noticed that we probably don't want to lose this area so i see that miss cecily is outnumbered so i am moving in my spartan hop lights oh the look at they're they're examining the battlefield they're like well man these dang barbarians pirate swords charge so i'm charging in because he is going after my archers my archers are going to stand their ground and just shoot up these galatian swordsmen because they are not the heavy heaviest of units oof and we're gonna we're gonna run away from that yeah i'm not staying for that uh but actually unfortunately i have to hold my ground here uh because the romans are sending over some hastati so my spartan hoplites are stuck into this melee and we've got a rogue galatian unit over here so now i have my spartans who are sent over to support this fight they've now uh you know obviously i'm using them to protect the rear of my ally oh my spartans are getting in it getting in the fight over on this side i'm just kind of watching this flank with kush with cecily fighting off some egyptians uh that was the essentially that was the first wave of egypt and we've pretty much destroyed it they've got a couple units here and there but they are now sending in their second wave uh we've got some thorax swordsmen oh what happened here why did he sally out some thorax swords that must have been a misclick or this unit was chasing down a unit and he didn't realize it i actually didn't see this during the live stream so that's a huge loss for me cecily i mean these guys are going to fall so quickly compared to if they were holding a you know a street inside the city of antioch let's go back over to this side where the romans are starting to get their troops into this fight i'm setting up my spartans making sure they're well organized ready to uh you know hold in their hype hoplite formation and there we go the fight is getting spicy already spartans versus rome very cool a lot of aero fire coming in i've got my other unit here so i basically formed a wall with my spartan forces i've set up two archers now just opening fire on these guys um if i could go back i don't think i would have used my archers as aggressively i mean they've gotten a good amount of kills but keep in mind like we oh 200 kills that's really good for hello archers that's really good now they are out of ammo but 213 they got their money's worth again i gotta make sure i conserve ammo and i'm not necessarily using all of my archers these guys are already at 60 that's that's pretty good too but i do have two units of cretan archers that are in the back here i'm saving them for the late game of this battle so you always always make sure you conserve your ammo as much as possible uh but the fight's going well my spartans are holding uh oh okay i see what i was doing i think i was going to charge this thorax swordsman my unit kind of got blobbed up on the hastati over here but they are kind of correcting it it's classic rome too the formations can kind of act weird look at this what is happening ah that's all right but we're fighting the good fight here over on this side things are pretty calm mercedes still holding look at this 102 kills with these thorax swordsmen i don't think they're gonna hold much longer they're shaking uh but they're holding back some dark swords and oh he's about to get a a yeah a big flank here thoros spears levy thorough spears i think it would have been a it's a waste of waste your ammo in this unit if i was them i would just charge them just charge them don't waste your ammo i mean i would charge them at this point you could save some lives here because they are killing these thorax swords anyways let's go back over to um this side look at this messagely is all over the place he should not be focusing his units over on this side of the battle but he's over here and there really hasn't been much here we put up a a pretty light defense on this side so uh yeah swaby's just kind of having his way with the wall over here we're not really doing we're just focused over here so we have a fresh swabian army we have to worry about all right there we go kush has some uh cushite slave infantry fighting off some thorax swordsmen i'm holding my ground here honestly i probably don't even realize that they charged in i'm probably focused on this fight which yeah i see that there's units breaking so i'm going to go ahead and flink around i'm surrounded these hastati uh units of infantry hastati forces and i'm quickly trying to use our our numbers here to quickly break them before reinforcements arrive which you can see the egyptians are sending over some thorax swords i'm gonna go ahead and try to reform really quickly my spartans hurry up no no no don't charge reform let's see how everything else is going i've got a cab unit over here just waiting for the perfect sally out honestly i'm waiting for the roman archers to be by themselves so i'm just patiently waiting with my citizen cav it's my only cap unit i also have some reserve units some spartan hoplites in reserve back here some royal spartans over here just sitting back again just because they're up here doesn't necessarily mean i'm going to use them it's just kind of like if i see an opportunity i'll push them in if i don't then i can fall them back you know that's why i like having units nearby in case there's an opportunity so my aero tower here is actually being captured by these guys it is shooting at them but unfortunately they're neutralizing it there we go they're gonna charge in because they have fresh reinforcements so my spartan line continues to hold and then we've got some levee throw spears in position as well these guys are probably going to use their projectiles i've got some archers up front here are these guys yeah no they don't have any ammo i'm just kind of moving them up i guess hoping that the enemy would shoot at them because sometimes i'll do that with my archers where i'll act like they do have ammo and hope that the enemy wastes their arrows on my archers that don't have any ammo because sometimes during the heat of a battle you could just quickly glance over oh enemy archers let me shoot at them you really got to make sure you double check it's like okay they have their daggers out that means they don't have ammo i shouldn't waste my ammo on it because they're really not a threat anymore but this unit i think they just used up their ammo 269 kills these archers for hell at archers slave archers man between these two units yeah between the two units alone they got over 400 kills almost almost 500 kills that's crazy that's a good use of the the archers i'm just tooting my own horn aren't i no i usually struggle with archers like especially cheap archers uh back over here i've still yet to charge in i am getting hit by the arrow towers and the uh the javis here which is which is unfortunate and that's when i decide you know what no spartans don't just sit there and die from projectiles they stay die in close combat so this is kind of weird i charge them in i'm going after these levy spears which i'm not worried about at all but look at this he kind of runs his thorax swordsman away from the fight so i have another unit of royal royal spartans coming in to make sure these thorax swordsmen do not attack the rear of my spartan hop lights look at these guys they're so awesome there we go charging in look at the officer oh yeah he's awesome look at that guy's got a crazed look in his eyes you know it's terrifying taking on soldiers that want to die in battle as it's or probably not all of them but you know they are trained and they have the philosophy of you know the most honorable death the most glorious death is in battle looking he's still he's using his projectiles very good use of the uh thorax that or not thorac the thero spears they're using their projectiles but my guys are heavily armored he is going to kill some but i'm just gonna you know i'm i'm just gonna sit there and take it because my guys can but he is certainly doing some damage to me back over here the romans are getting crazy now unfortunately i sent in it's hard to tell but i sent in a unit of spartan hoplites right right here it's hard to tell but sometimes units don't stay in formation and out of all the units you want to stay in formation it's hoplites and pikemen and my hoplites completely broke formation and now they're just getting destroyed now keep in mind this is a spartan hoplite they're not they're not cheap they're not the best but they're certainly not the worst and uh to see them die like this just out of formation it's quite frustrating because they only have 51 kills not good not good so this is this is looking a little worrisome but hey look at this we're still holding like lads sparta still holding and where's oh that's right okay okay so we kind of i kind of missed a moment here but let me quickly explain because this was so frustrating if you watch the live battle uh which i have in the live stream playlist uh i saw an opportunity to kill these archers or maybe it's coming up anyways we'll we'll just wait and see we'll wait and see i'll explain it later i don't want to spoil anything anyways the romans are still pushing through here it's a tough fight mercedes lee keeps piling on troops which is good to see i'm still holding this flank but my men are dying here no no they're just severely weakened from all the projectiles we're still fighting against these thorax swordsmen on this side and then the rest of the athenian army is piling in the corner of this settlement back over here we've actually destroyed the egyptian did i say athenian i mean egyptian army there's a couple forces here kush with the help of kush we're able to crush him here and now we're holding this this um this arrow tower which is awesome so we've kind of resecured this area with some good flanking and you know overwhelming them with troops all right this is where i call the retreat so i notice i have only 37 men here 77 i think it's because he was shooting at me with his his archers over the walls i also noticed look at this look at this archers in a prime vulnerable position i could there's a chance i could run out and charge them with my cab you notice that you see the arrow okay this is what my cab does instead instead of going through the gate and running like that my calf is running towards the roman infantry this was so frustrating because i probably just told them to run out and then i i went over and just microed somewhere else and i didn't see this happening and then at this point i look over i'm like what are you doing kev why and look if they even get hit by some pila it could have been a lot worse though and rome sees that and so he now knows i have cav where before he didn't know and the element of surprise is completely gone just completely gone because they would not use the gate sometimes pathfinding is just your enemy and now we are having a bit of a crisis we've killed as many as we could you can see messagely has fallen my spartans had to fall back i'm leaving one unit of spartan hoplites i cannot believe they're not flanking them right now uh they're just giving me a ton of kills which is awesome i mean my guys might even defeat these thorax swordsman the combat is even and there we go i've got some archers set up here i'm trying to shoot but this is a cool map because of this wall right here i wish there was more maps like this i mean look at this the river the water the secondary wall it's just really awesome uh but yeah it's not really giving me a great angle because my archers are looking this way and i'm trying to shoot at the romans but yeah it's not gonna happen so with all the forces i have left i'm preparing the final stand of these spartans this is not my entire army though if we go back over this way there has been some fighting over here uh i know we haven't focused too much over on this side but swaby has been fighting um i believe kush yeah kush has mostly been holding over here so i've got what's left in my army i've got two units of pikeman now unfortunately one of my pikes has taken heavy casualties because i wasn't paying attention and the swabians were shooting at him they were also shooting at my general and yeah so that's why i'm kind of like hugging the walls right now and keeping my pikemen away because he was being so annoying with those longbow hunters i had to quickly protect my forces but that's pretty much all i have uh and then of course this force here which is very small but at this point i'm just buying time i'm making sure that um you know all the forces here can retreat and we'll see i'm actually really surprised that they are not just like full-on attacking me right now i am in such a weak position because my spartans are low on troops i've got an archer unit mixed in with the front line that's how you know you're not doing well is when you have your archer mixed in with your infantry as as an as a frontline force so i'm not doing amazing i am pushing up some archers to take out his archers we got the cretan archers back there egypt also has pikeman so we gotta we gotta look out for that in the future that this is a big threat target we also have this scorpion over here the greek scorpion i wonder if it's shooting well it's already got six kills so it's definitely shot something uh but rome is pushing through i don't know why they're hesitating here i don't know why they're taking so long but you know looking at the armies i feel like we've done a decent amount of damage but uh we've certainly taken a lot of damage as well but we're just kind of looking over here and we're just watching and there's some big breakage going on with swaby which is really good it's really promising but swaby still is a big threat as well i mean they still have the swordmasters they got some club levy always fear the club levy we got some longbow hunters let's see what do we got over swordmasters swordmasters so they still have a lot they still have a ton that we have to worry about and they are trying to sneak around with the cav it looks like but they're just going to run into these uh shotel warriors oh this guy's screwed he's like oh please just let me get out please oh i'm stuck oh he's out he's stuck yeah he's dead boom he hits him with the shield and the swabian is no more just obliterated but yeah i couldn't i couldn't believe this i i still was like why are they not attacking like my spartans are so weak and the longer they wait they're letting them you know stay fresh i've got some archers opening fire trying to kill their archers because keep in mind uh remember i have pikeman and i want my pikes oh that guy just got tagged i want my pikes to not have to deal with enemy archers but the uh mercenary cretan archers cretan archers are firing back you can see they are starting to do some damage against my archers we also have my allies archers over here as well the the nubian bowman but i think he's gonna fall them back and again i mean like i don't this is a huge win right because one the clock is on our side and this is just pure mind games right here because they could easily take us out and keep in mind i mean there is another path to go over here which they should send some units i know kush is holding over here with some shot warriors that's a tough unit they're very healthy as well they've only lost one guy but this i mean you could easily take this but hey i like it we're keeping them back we're wasting the clock swabi is still swabi is also playing it pretty smart over here as well they're just kind of sitting back and the reason i think he's waiting is he's waiting for his teammates because if he goes in alone here we're going to be able to focus him down it's going to be easy to micromanage and it's not going to be a big deal so about a minute or so later i think the romans have given the order to push forward um yeah and i i also said hey we should probably fall back so as a team we agreed that it's time to fall back but i left my romans here because they're romans they don't fall back these guys are gonna fight to the death so i'm just gonna sit here and use the arrow tower that we got here as long as possible and do as much damage to the roman forces you know as i can and we're just gonna hold this position and these men are gonna die and they're gonna love it because they're spartans but yeah we've fallen back everything you can see kush has fallen back his troops and really cush should have fallen back his troops because his troops are really fresh and they're gonna do much better in a more narrow you know concentrated uh defense position like over here i do have some heroes of sparta helping kush hold against swaby on this side just you know sitting in reserve uh so and then i have my other heroes of sparta which is the general and he's just kind of chilling over here as well again just sitting in reserve and then i'm watching this back street with my pikeman and there we go we actually break a roman force here [Applause] look at these guys yes uh they're like the coolest looking faction i swear them in rome just very awesome looking then over here i guess he he's like point blank slinging me do i have an officer alive over here no it looks like all my officers are dead but these guys are holding hold oh did they break or am i falling oh that's right okay so i actually decide to spare their lives at least for a little bit longer so what i'm gonna do here because they were just getting shot to bits i'm gonna make a last-ditch effort to try to kill as many as possible so i'm retreating them towards this arrow tower here and i'm going to use that arrow tower for support basically i was looking for a position where they because they would have gotten flanked because this was completely open my spartans fell here so the units holding here would have been flanked so my idea was to just fall them back over to like where the walls were to our backs and have the arrow tower kind of support me there i also have some cab over here this is my uh citizen cab they haven't really seen any action so i see that his archers are kind of out of position he does have one swordmaster unit in the mix but if i'm lucky i can get these long bows by surprise so here we go here comes my my cab charge i am getting shot by arrows and unfortunately he does spot it right at the end i do get some of his archers but it's not really worth it oh actually i'm breaking them but these uh swordmasters will uh will kill me pretty quickly very quickly okay but we've done a pretty good amount of damage to swabi and swaby definitely has to wait until his reinforcements show up the balance of power is not looking great and we also have the roman general charging me i couldn't believe this i was like wow this is really risky not necessarily because of my infantry which are just getting destroyed by his general but this aero tower can do a lot of damage you can see it's shooting at him i killed five of it five of his bodyguard there he goes he's gonna charge in again unfortunately my spartans break and they don't fight to the death at least not all of them so there you have it guys the uh the outer defense has fallen we have now fallen back to the market i don't know what you'd want to call this this is like the marketplace the forum this is where we have fallen back and this is where we're gonna hold we do have another fallback position which of course is this position right here it's really good this is like the keep i guess in medieval terms the keep of the fortification and we've got some walls we can set up archers it's a single entry point it's really good but i don't want to fall back to that area i want to try to hold over here and just looking at our our forces we've got a lot of shotel warriors and we also have yeah i mean it's mostly it's mostly kush here with shotel warriors i've got a couple hop lights and some some pikes and an archer unit that's it mercedes lee has some axe warriors that are have very depleted he's got his general in the back so that's good which is a hop light he's got some axe warriors in the back as well so he's got some good forces in reserve and cush is holding back his archers so yeah we're looking okay if we play this right we might have a chance of winning this one but it's going to be close i mean the attackers still have some very good units sword masters over here we've got a galatian royal guard who's only lost four guys we have tons of skirmishers with ammo they've got the axemen over here for his general they're not amazing but they got him uh we've got these cohort fully decked out in armor they've got a lot of good units and let's not forget the pikeman or egypt it's not looking good and the balance of power is kind of expressing that same thing it's not looking good so a lot of the troops have started to move up you can sway you see swabi is charging in some sword masters and the fight for the inner defense has begun uh so far it's been a pretty long skirmish between the two armies and keep in mind another reason that we're not just instantly falling back over here is that siege battles are battles of attrition and we're really trying to get the attackers to use up as much as their as much of their ammo oh my god words are hard trying to use them you know basically exhaust their ammo so when it does come to the time where i need to use pikeman they don't have any archers to deal with the pikeman now the unfortunate thing is that my my archers were taken out here uh but they killed a decent amount i assume and there we go we pushed them back i've got my pikeman kind of hiding in this l-shaped temple building kind of protecting them from projectiles i've got my forces kind of concentrated on one side it's always good to try to have your forces on one side that way you can just focus on that side because if you have troops all over the place you have to micro more i always try to do that no matter where in the siege i try to have my forces in one area so i can micro as as best as possible because it's just too much when you have troops all over the place and this is not good the attackers are doing a great job here and again this is part of our strategy exhaust their ammo not only archer ammo but like pila and javi ammo and there you have it guys there you have it they are finally pushing and things are not looking good look at this is all we have over on this front shotel warriors and they're taking on the swaby these guys well these guys are considered heavy infantry they're just not the heaviest and they are knocking on our doors guys knocking on our doors and look at more and more reinforcements are coming over and when i first saw this i was like oh kush has a lot of troops and then i was like oh wait this is slave infantry they're not very good but it's better than nothing right it's better than nothing okay and then this is the point guys this is the point where we like we were like okay actually no we're still holding but i we are starting to think at this point okay maybe we should fall back and i'm i'm going to go ahead and fall back my pikes because i've come to i i've accepted the fact that this fight is going to end over here it's not going to end here and you can see i'm also falling back my general because if my general dies then my units morale could easily break so i want to make sure he's still alive and i've got some heroes of sparta watching this flank massace lee has thrown in their reserves to reinforce this front line and we're doing okay with time here i mean we're doing a pretty good job we're getting to the point where it's almost less than 20 minutes and they still have a lot of work to do i mean keep in mind i've done some edits here and i've kind of fast forward through some of the troop movement of the attackers because it's taking them so long uh to you know push up their troops so in a terms in terms of time i think we're we're doing a good job but there's still enough time on the clock for them to conquer this like that for them to take this out for sure so uh we definitely have to uh watch out for that and this is this is when we finally call the retreat because this flank fell these poor troops are gonna get surrounded but they will fight to the death actually kush is able to sneak out of there look at that with shotel warriors he sneaks out of that fight unfortunately unfortunately miss lee wasn't so lucky but you know every man matters at this point every single soul that we can save for a later time in the battle it will add up and these shotel warriors they got to get back they gotta get back and they certainly are you know they're running for the their lives they're like oh god oh god and then the romans are coming from the flank oh no he's gonna hold his ground oh an ocean of men surround the shotel warriors and unfortunately i thought they do make it back but he's gonna make a stand and here's our next defense this is it this is the last stand and look at what i'm doing with my pikemen i am keeping them back i am keeping them as far back as possible this is our last resort i want the enemy to exhaust their ammo i want to make sure their infantry is tired so when they face my pikeman it's uh you know it's going to be tough for them because his troops are exhausting there goes the shotel warriors tragically and now we're on to the next layer of the defense and once again a little bit of a hesitation from the attackers i'm i'm fine with that i only have one unit this is the heroes of sparta it's a good unit but it's definitely not going to be enough to hold all this back so again we sit and wait wait for them to push us ah the pila shields up the trees are catching some of the pilum it's the calm before the storm all armies are exhausted but the only way out of this is fighting our way out i don't know what happened there he pushed up some slave infantry i think he was trying to oh i see they're pushing up the greek scorpion this is a good move on them and that's probably why they're holding back they're using the artillery but again tick tock i know this artillery could rack up a lot of kills because it's perfect right it can shoot through our layers of troops and get a lot but there's not enough time on the clock for this honestly what i would do if i was the attackers i just go ahead and take on this front force move up the scorpion here and then shoot at the units in the back that's what i would do maybe that's what they are doing heroes of sparta and you know at this part of the battle i was even thinking like you know what maybe we should just fall back again we delayed him for an extra couple minutes maybe we should just fall back again that's a win that is a win his forces are breaking though ah they're shot warriors too they're just taking a again that's okay it's better the shotel warriors take the hit from archers and projectiles than my pikeman because oh what is this some random guy oh look at him the audacity looks like he's trying to escape but then he oh he's dead oh but so is he oh they died together and there they go they're pushing finally they've given the order now it's too late to fall back my heroes of sparta are doing just that being heroes of sparta [Applause] oh yeah kush sends in his men as well and we've got another unit of slave infantry going in club levy charging sword masters join the fight this is going to be a close battle guys a very close battle now this flank is much weaker right here because it's mostly just slave infantry holding i really don't want to lose units by them flanking around but my heroes are sparta they they have not been doing well look at they're already down to 65 men and they only have 33 kills the heroes of sparta are so expensive and to only get that out of them is not enough i told my ally to go ahead and use the fireballs it's okay if he kills my troops because it's gonna kill more of them yes look at that yes and even the scorpions getting a little too close look at get the scorpion uh yeah he's getting dragged he's like oh gosh that's amazing yes kill him kill him boom boom so it wasn't the greatest of fireballs of justice but it was something and sure it killed my men but what are you gonna do heroes of sparta didn't get a lot of kills but they are causing a little bit of a delay and now we are less than 15 minutes left in this battle they gotta get in there they gotta attack us this is what we have for in a defense this is it this is all we have we have some archers we've got some axe warriors kush has um shotel worries got some slave infantry he also has his general in the back he's got that going for him i have my general the two pikes but we don't have much of an archer force we barely have an infantry force i mean look at this balance of power look at this balance of power that is so low that is so low it's gonna be an uphill battle for us literally for the attackers because they have to go up this hill but metaphorically it's it's gonna be uh it's gonna be an uphill battle for us again they're taking their sweet time though look at this they're just now moving up the romans and up the stairs look at this so cool these stairs leads to the epic back pillar area as a temple area of the city of antioch there we go this is it guys this is truly the last stand of the city now this is a problem here because look this this flank is completely exposed this is where it's like all right i don't have a choice i gotta send in my general in in no way am i sending in my pikemen the only time i'm gonna send in my pikemen is if there's literally no infantry left or the enemy push up their pikeman that's the only time you can see look at this sure enough enemy is pushing up their thorax pikeman completely healthy pikeman it's gonna be tough it is going to be tough but we have to hold we have to hold on there's my general he's in the fight now he's got four kills already we've got the miss miss acelian hoplites this is the general of miss cecily multiple generals in the fight and this last stand is only just started we are fighting for our lives oh now we got archers the archers are out of ammo already and look at look at look at look at we got pikeman in the back it's almost like no retreat if you retreat down these stairs you will be faced with a wall of spears like like they're preventing allies from retreating there they go look at this are they gonna send them up oh my god and that's why i move up my pikeman i've got my pike unit right here and this is such a cat and mouse game at this point guys because i would move them up i would see that oh oh nope he's not moving his up he's falling he's falling back okay that means i'm gonna run mine away why because i don't want them shot by by archers i need as many pikemen as possible and look at they are shooting at him thankfully i didn't lose anybody there but they are trying to bait out my pikeman into the fight so they can shoot him but here's the thing my general is watching this flank alone with 87 men and my general will die here like if pikemen are sent up my my guys can't handle pikeman oh my god look awesome it's almost like they've got this ray of light on them got the pikes in the back oh that's so epic i love that temple in the back it just it's so aesthetic like the static it's aesthetically pleasing but my general holds on and there we go look at i'm constantly shifting in and out my pikes because he's doing the same thing and again he's trying to bait my pikes to get shot at and i'm trying to get the enemy to waste his pike or his ammo before facing my pikes i now retreat my general because what i'm doing here this is the point where i where i'm like okay there's there's no more retreat right there's no more retreat i my pikes have to hold their ground here and i'm going to mix in my general to kind of help absorb some of the archer ammo and here we go the enemy pikes are facing us the epic spartan last stand so i've got one unit of pikeman they've only lost two guys and already have 50 kills my general has 44 kills and then i still have this reserve unit of pikeman i'm just holding on i'm just waiting because this flank is looking pretty good and then we have the cush general who's bravely just pushing back the enemy with cab charges look at him he's got to be careful though cause he's running into pikeman got the chaos of this last stand absolute chaos look at all the archer fire coming down there's nothing i can do about it i tried i tried to wait as long as possible i tried i prayed that they would run out of ammo soon there's nothing i can do but hope those arrows miss as i continue to push back the enemy attackers and look at we're breaking some of them dang these archers let's see how many kills do they have on our pikes oof my pikemen have taken a decent amount of casualties but they have a hundred kills already there we go more archers it's i was so pleased to see archers running in look at the bounce of power look at that oh my god our chances are so slim but yet we fight on here comes spartan uh pikeman they're gonna go into the fight this is uh yep this is my last unit of infantry i'm just forming the final the final uh line of troops i was trying to tell my allies to push back and reform with my pikes but then i noticed you know all these guys are pushing so aggressively there's no need to have pikes there because i don't want my pikeman to get shot at and just this is just the most like cut throat defense attack here look at this oh the arrow is still flying in that that's why i'm holding back my other pikemen i'm so desperate to hold on to my troops against you know trying to prevent them from being attacked look at this defense here look at these imagine though i know they're outnumbered i know it doesn't look uh look good for him in terms of the bounce of power but just look at this wall of men how intimidating would this be that's awesome they're still fighting the good fight the general look at this the cush general constantly cycle charging here and this is where i think i finally commit my spartan pikemen to the fight i notice that their archers are out of ammo their scorpion has almost a hundred kills or scorpions getting a lot of kills but i also notice hey there's a lot of archers in this blob that's that looks pretty promising here comes my other pikeman my allies continue to hold on to this flank they got cav and infantry all mixed alike in here they have the other um you have the other uh thorax pikeman set up here now there's six minutes and guys when we were playing this live it was literally every minute we'd be like all right six minutes okay five minutes all right four minutes like we can do this just keep holding just keep holding oh my god can we hold look at this imagine being the middle of this so i fell back my general a little bit there because i didn't want him to get stabbed by the pikeman again i'm just keeping my general alive for moral support and it's a good unit you know i don't want my general fighting pikemen i'd rather him fight the normal infantry in the archers but his pikes are dropping he's down to 76 look up they're dropping to my pikes which my pikes are now have 255 kills and they're also getting shot at by the arrow towers so that's really helpful uh back over on this side i have my pikeman set up here as well they're not really facing anything but there's no more of an archer threat so i'm not afraid to set up my my pikeman you know in the front line because they're not going to get shot out and here comes the romans now these pikes are are fighting the good fight we are trying to hold on the balance of power looks awful for us but you know there's no shame in defeat if you gave it your all and that's what we're doing right here oh my god that's nuts and that's what pikes do man like they are time wasters they can really hold a line here and my pikes they're down to they're down to 45 men they have 277 kills my general is now part of the pike line and look at that look at that is this is this another pike unit they have another oh they just shifted them that pike unit was over here i think yeah they've shifted the pikes oh my god it's those pikes dude they are going to be scary can we hold look at the general kush is falling back he's reorganizing his men he's getting out of there i told him he's like kush get your general out of there fall back behind my men because there's just a lot of enemy pikes in the mix oh man i you know this is the fact that i was so patient with my pikeman it does seem to be paying off pretty nicely my hero's a spider back in the fight with 51 kills these guys oh my god they're racking up kills they have 339 340 now it's just constantly ticking up and here's the problem and this is actually a good play by the uh the attackers you notice how they're focusing one side because i can't let like i would love to take these pikes and send them here to help hold against the enemy pikes but i can't do that because the romans could push in infantry so they kind of have to hold their ground now my ally is sending in his general and this is so close two minutes left on the clock oh man this was just great my heart was racing here i was like oh my god hold we got pikes and romans against the powerful spartans now i go ahead and shift my pikes back i'm reorganizing the lines again trying to get a proper line here the romans go ahead and charge me but my pikes do get down just in time oh the tower doesn't want to let me zoom in and this is not looking good look at this my pikes are now done they're gone so now i'm combining my general with my pikeman i notice he's charging in his pikes so i'm gonna charge in my general before he can properly set up a pike formation so i charge in my gen and we do get a good position on look at that his pikes are all or all unorganized and he at this point actually goes to capture the tower and no he he decides to go and try to capture the town center which i was so relieved at that point because i i was like oh my god now we can focus killing all the units here and then we can turn back and deal with these guys and then now now look at the bounce of power it's getting a little bit better i'm resetting up my pikeman they got charged there by the romans a good move by the romans uh i've got my general flanking around is now almost has a hundred kills these pikes have 161 kills and at this point guys we have won the game you know why they haven't even captured this town center yet there's no such thing as overtime in rome 2 and there's only 47 seconds left on the clock it takes about 120 seconds to win by capturing if i'm not mistaken so i let him do it i was like go ahead and capture it i'm going to set up my forces here yep and i was like yeah come to me come to my forces see is this scorpion still active is it still shooting 112 kills yeah it's still shooting wow i didn't even realize that look at that charge nice rear charge by the cushite general that was a good play now we push up our troops and guys this is it this is the victory right here that is over we held i think we would have won two if there was more time i think we would have killed the units but we held by the skin of our teeth that was a great battle and we'll look at the end results here a great job by my teammates uh just a really solid job at that final stand we all had our generals just put up an epic defense it was great uh really great job by the um the attackers they did a fantastic job as well it was so close i think if they were a bit more aggressive and didn't wait they would have they could have probably saved a couple minutes there was a good four minutes i think of them kind of being hesitant where if they just full metal or pedal to the metal uh they could have you know saved a lot of time and potentially want it but who knows who knows but that was a great battle i hope you enjoyed this one as much as i did i love playing sparta in epic last
