Something is still terribly wrong with New World and certain GPUs!! BEWARE!!!!!!

[Music] you ever feel like you have deja vu were you talking about something you've already talked about everyone told you you're stupid because what you're talking about was wrong but then what you talked about is happening again well today we're going to talk about that we are obviously talking about new world to be known as the new crisis in every sense of the word crisis all right look the point of today's video is to put the psa out there you cannot buy graphics cards right now they're nearly impossible if you can they're triple the price so this video is going to have two purposes we're going to talk about the problem we're going to show you some examples of the problem with the amount of people that have written me emails and tweets and and dms and stuff telling me about their experiences we're gonna we're gonna talk about the range why this problem could be potentially happening how it's happening and what you can do to limit your exposure to this potential exploit of hardware that new world seems to be wreaking havoc right now in the gaming community but you know at least the good news is if your gravis card died because of the new world that we're going to talk about right now we're giving away some graphics cards so you guys can learn more about that down in the description below shameless plug over let's get into it okay so if you guys remember back in uh july was it no august somewhere around there we had the new world issue where we found 30 90 cards were just exploding all over the place the symptoms were actually somewhat generic in that we've seen the type of behavior that new world was causing with 3090s in other pieces of software that were causing problems and the symptoms specifically being i was playing my game my screen went black the fans went to 100 which is the weird symptom right the screen goes black fans go to 100 and then i restart my system and 50 50 whether or not the system was ever going to turn back on when the first new world beta issue happened uh it sucked evga found that the way the software was designed the way the the instructions or the api and the draw calls were written was kind of exposing a bigger problem of that was existing on a hardware level but up until new world nothing had actually you know really created the perfect storm to cause any sort of these hardware deficiencies to really rear their ugly head now evga was the brand that took the brunt of it because they seemed to be the brand that was mentioned the most and what they found was about 30 cards or so in the first batch of 3090s that were that were sent out fun fact our card which we tried if you remember that video we tried to kill it um was is in that batch and ours didn't have a problem then again we didn't run it for days or hours at a time we only tested for a couple of hours never saw anything funky but that was after the patch that then the problem just sort of went away what they found was that there was a weak solder on one of the mosfets which was popping that solder joint not the mosfet it was actually popping the solder joint itself kind of pulling it apart because of excessive heat and power draw and it was very low number of cards that were affected however other brands like gigabyte and msi and although not as a as a parent or as as common were also being affected some 20 series cards were being affected other 30 series cards like 30 70s and 30 80s were being affected but their issue wasn't as dramatic whereas they're they were dealing with random crashes black screen 100 fans the system would always turn back on sometimes it could game for days without a problem sometimes the moment they fire up the game and get into the menu the problem would happen so extremely sporadic it was easy to write that off and just say hey it's a beta amazon put out a statement saying we're all stupid they've got hundreds of thousands of players your guys problems are yours not ours that's essentially what their statement was and i even did a video about that saying that that was very concerning and non-confidence inspiring for them to basically say hey it's all your guy's fault well the game officially launched just a few days ago and unfortunately it has claimed more graphics cards so this time around the common manufacture we're seeing is gigabyte now that's unfortunate because evga has an amazing rma process they have an amazing team and they took some flack about their cross-ship collateral policy which i am fully behind whether it's evga or some other brand look they have to take your word that one you have a 30-90 and that two you're actually going to send it to them while three they're sending you one in the meantime so they're out to lose potentially two cards the one you're supposed to send back to them which all of those components can be recycled and reused and they have value and two the card they're sending to you so i was perfectly fine and i had absolutely no problem with those people or with evga having that policy and i didn't feel any remorse for the people complaining about it because your other option was to not cross ship and wait it sucks but however i guarantee people would have taken advantage of the situation walked away with two cards and ebj's over here holding the bill for both those cards and whatever i don't care what company it is i'm fully behind that you'll never convince me otherwise however unfortunately gigabyte on the other hand is probably one of the worst companies on the planet when it comes to responding to rma questions getting army especially after the whole debacle we talked about last month with their whole rma system being wiped because of their ransomware attack and their army server being down and them actually having to write customers and saying hey what was your rma number we lost it basically is what happened so right now if you've got a dead gigabyte card good luck getting them to respond let alone actually fix it but it makes you wonder how can a specific brand have a problem like that well clearly something changed between the beta and the fix and the production release of the game and if you don't believe me just i mean look these are people saying my card my friend go to reddit go to lions tech tip forums go anywhere essentially where people are talking about this and you're going to find a lot of people saying that at the very least they're getting black screens 100 fans and shutdowns or unfortunately in this guy's instance he had the black screen 100 fans in the shutdown my video card just started doing that my screen went blank and this is what happened when you turned it back on it's literally on fire now what you may not notice in that video that's a zotac card not a gigabyte card so now that you have multiple brands being affected by this you have no longer a case to say oh it's just that manufacturer's problem i see a lot of people also say there's no possible way a game can kill a video card a video card is only going to run as fast as it can it's just not going to go past that if only that were true look i'm no driver expert i'm no driver writer and i'm also not an api engineer but i can tell you this is not the first time the second time or even the fifth time that this has happened sometimes call draws apis dx even directx people with directx would could this could never happen on directx yes it absolutely can do you remember fermark fermark would void your warranty if you loaded it there was never really a way for a manufacturer to know you loaded a piece of software however there was even a warning that would pop up on the screen saying warning potential catastrophic damage can happen to your graphics card by running this tool use at your own risk and fermark probably has claimed more cards than any game ever has but it's proof that the software can absolutely damage the hardware amazon owns a piece of this problem and if what's happening here is the way it's written is exposing hardware inefficiency or some sort of deficiency in the design of 30 series cards it makes sense because these are the highest power draw cards we've ever seen in recent years 250 watt was where cards sat for a long time now we have 320 watt 30 80s and 350 watt 30 90s and what we believe is happening the reason why 30 90s are specifically dying while some 3080 tis uh as well because they're very they're pretty much just a slightly cut down 30 90. it's because of the power draw and the vrm's probably being closer to their absolute limit when it comes to the power draw of a 3090 versus something that is a lower wattage card where the vrms are basically overkill and more robust in terms of overhead in terms of power limits and power like i might say limits i mean catastrophic failure limits versus the maximum power draw that the core and the die can actually pull in terms of the total board power 3090s are much closer to that maximum limit than say something like a 360 ti or 30 70. but if you just look and open your eyes and stop fanboying over amazon and supporting being a fanboy for them when i guarantee they don't care about you just just look you'll see that people with all different 30 series cars 360 ti 3070s 2080 ti's are experiencing the same black screen 100 fan um issue we've seen that before we saw it with 10 series cards when there were some vrm deficiencies uh evga specifically had a problem where certain vrms would go over temp and that was a response and sometimes the card would never turn back on at least it didn't lead to fires in most instances but unfortunately some did what can you do to protect yourself you bought a 70 game you want to play it it's extremely popular right now it's actually one of the most streamed games on twitch in the last couple of days since it launched first and foremost if you're running a 3090 turn off any overclocks you potentially have second of all do not move that power draw slider if anything i would probably reduce it down to like 90 from 100 if you're gonna play something like new world that way you have at least got a point at which you have some available overhead to it once it hits that power limit if it does spike itself higher it'll spike up to like 100 not 130 or something we've seen some cards spike way beyond their power limit in certain use case scenarios and that is what could potentially be causing the problem i've seen people talk about well it limited my fps fps was something that people hyperbolized on when it came to the menu drawing 4000 fps this is also not the not the first fifth or even hundredth time we've seen this many games run unlimited fps that are gpu hardware accelerated in the menu drawing thousands of frames per second and it's not been a problem but it has something specifically to do with the way the game is handling the the instructions the draw calls and directx again i'm not an engineer i can't explain that one but i can tell you that software absolutely can kill a title and i feel like i wouldn't be doing my due diligence or my duty to my viewers if i didn't warn you that this game yes i own it i'm not gonna turn it on right now because of the fact that i'm i just do not trust that this this title won't in some way damage my components until there's a serious investigation from amazon owning up to the fact that something to do with this game is causing hardware issues yes it there are there are multiple parties responsible here the developers of the game and the hardware manufacturers and they need to talk to each other they need to discuss with each other and not just point fingers it's like the game has become a a dynamometer for like a dyno for for testing horsepower in a car but if you build an engine and you put it on the dyno and the engine blows up is it the dyno's fault or is it the engine builder's fault well i can tell you there are safe ways and non-safe ways to operate a dyno the way the engine brake works the way the free rev works the amount of load that's put on it you can absolutely put more load on a dyno that what's considered realistic real world use and expose a limitation or a strength issue in that build that's exactly what we have happening here but we have engine builders the the card builders and the dynamometer company new world and amazon pointing at each other saying it's like the spider-man meme although they're not the same person pointing at each other saying your problem know your problem if you all just got together and talked maybe you could actually you know brainstorm here what's happening and stop killing people's cards i hate the fact that i have to talk about a video game damaging hardware yes whoever's fault it is they need to get together and figure it out and get a fix out as soon as possible my psa to you right now is if you own the game and you have a 30 90 or any sort of a high wattage card turn off your overclocks don't overclock it reduce your power limits cap your fps inside your driver as much as possible and that's the thing people that have written me back saying i've kept it in the driver but the game still goes way above it and then comes back in fact i've had developers actually write me saying they have utilities that they have opened up on their own to to kind of see the way that games call draws are being written and found that it's extremely inefficient in the way it's layering things on top of itself that are completely unnecessary that's like saying hey you know what plus one what plus what equals 50 well 1 plus 1 plus one plus one plus one plus one plus plus mu that's not efficient right there's other ways to get to 50 that don't involve doing it the the longest hardest way possible now i'm sure that developers are now just cringed that analogy but that's basically the way that it was explained to me that there are ways that they can fix this but i wonder if when it comes to the game and the way it's written that's in such a deep level that it requires some sort of a base rewrite of the game's engine to make that happen which again is running on lumber yard and lumber yard goes all the way back to the original crisis if you will talking about its inefficiencies and making absolute high-end hardware at the time 2005 come crashing down to its knees because of an inefficiently written engine so anyway this is a video saying for the love of god if you're going to play this game take the steps i just said to try and minimize and mitigate the amount of potential exposure you have to whatever's happening here reduce your power limit to 90. undo any overclocks increase your fan speed limit your fps as much as possible so that it like keeps the spikes from going too high and for god's sake if the system like shuts off and goes black screen and your fans turn 100 prey because it's when you power it back on that you're going to find out exactly went wrong what were wrong it's almost like the the gigabyte issue where the over current protection trips too late but in this case it may not trip at all where the card turned off because it had physical damage it already happened if you guys are playing the game down below write your comments on what your experience has been like and more importantly if you've experienced any of the symptoms that i just discussed put your hardware down below so that we can kind of sort of zero in on the the center point of what's like having the most uh effect here or like what what is being affected the most right now it looks like gigabyte cards and when it comes to that rma process good luck

Reality is that this seems to be exclusively happening to 3090's. So a manufacturer/design issue. But then, it doesn't seem to be happening with other games? So what's going on with New World 🤔
