this is how I solo role playay with obsidian chat GPT with talk to chat GPT and mid Journey I'm going to break it all down for you it's going to take a little bit of time so get a cup of tea get comfortable and let's do this hey there it is I versus AI this is I versus AI gaming the sister channel to my main Channel I versus AI where I show you chat GPT and large language model tips and tricks that nobody else is talking about this is my solo roleplay setup at its heart is Obsidian obsidian is a free and wonderful note teching app which is available on many platforms Windows Mac Linux IOS and Android it's fantastic for keeping notes but the neatest thing about it is that it's offline so that means that your notes are stored on your own device you can also sync obsidian your vault which is where you keep everything and you can have separate vaults for separate purposes I have one for I versus Ai and then the Vault I'm showing you today is for my solo role playing you can sync those devices back and forth using obsidian's sync service which does cost or I will show you later on in the video a free option which works fantastically what makes obsidian such a wonderful tool are the number of plugins that are developed by the community of these 1,000 plugins there are many that are very us useful but I'm going to be showing you three that are really key for Solo roleplaying in obsidian but first a tour this is my home base my obsidian Vault a vault is just a name for a folder of markdown files which means that even if obsidian completely disappeared tomorrow all of your files would be safe markdown is a very common language on the internet if you've been on Reddit you've seen markdown if you've been on Discord you've seen markdown markdown is just a way to make words look pretty that's all it allows you to create bold italics tables and so on oh and chat gbt uses markdown as well this is the main map and it's using the first plug-in that I love so much and that's excal draw this is what allows me to make essentially endless interactive maps this is an image the image itself is from mid Journey as I play I generate my images as I go I don't pre-plan them when I started this world I started out with just this image and the image of faen my character which I'll show you later when we take a look at her character sheet what is so cool about this map is how you can zoom in and add map icon when you zoom in to a map the icons don't lose their Clarity the text is part of excal draw besides the little label here and the map icon the most important thing we want to look at is this tiny little button right there that is the link which allows me to link Maps together that means that I can click on this little link icon right here and go into the map for awning Shire Market if the developer of excal draw ever sees this video it would be cool if this icon could be bigger somehow or somehow easier to see and click on especially when you're on your phone it can be tough to know exactly where to click it'd be cool if I could just click right on the icon to go directly to a link if the icon is indeed linked to another map let's click on this little link and go to the aing Shire Market the first thing I wanted to do was to be able to go back and forth between Maps fairly effortlessly down here in the left hand corner is an icon that I place on every main map every top level map that will take us back to the world this map doesn't have any submaps linked to it because where failen landed in this map is at zor's market and I say landed because she literally fell through a portal into this world in fact right here and there was a carpet seller zorin you'll see his character portrait when I talk about MPCs I didn't feel the need to make a linked map to zoran's Market stall partly because failen was very focused on finding an astronomer as soon as possible so she didn't spend a lot of time in this area but the fun thing is that if I ever want to generate an interior of zoran's carpet stall he is a carpet Merchant then I can just make one in mid journey and Link it up I'll show you how to link things in just a moment but first I'll show you how I travel between Maps I like using this little wooden sign icon and words on it which will show where we're heading to this is linked to awning Shire and there is a sign up here which takes us back to awning Shire Market I don't like how this text doesn't fit on the sign the whole way and I wanted the sign to be about this size but if I resize the text any smaller than this it starts to do that so I chose to just leave it as is here is the compass taking us back to the main map once faen found herself in awsh Shire proper from the arning Shire Market she made her way to The Apprentice Hall where she was instructed to do so by zorin the carpet selling Merchant The Apprentice Hall is a Guild Hall where all the different guilds have Market stalls where there might be products that you can buy that showcase the best work like the smith guild has wonderful weaponry for example but it also would have documentation or pamphlets if you will or Flyers that are trying to recruit apprentices to the guild also apprentices who are part of each Guild would come here and man the stall and here in the back I imagined that this might be a place where Guild Masters would come in and have some lunch and talk and gossip with the other guilds this symbol is for the healers Guild where failen went next in her story she was invited into the inner office the healers Guild office by Master Bram who is a character you'll see in a moment and this is what I love about playing this way I generated this as she walked into the office I hopped over to Mid journey and described what I thought the office might look like mid Journey generated this wonderful image and I love generating images sometimes I'll generate for quite a while before I find the perfect image that fits what I'm looking for in the story Master Bram sat here and failen sat here and I imagine he probably moved his chair over a bit to chat with her about her conundrum and how she ended up in this realm you can see that this inner map doesn't have any way out of the map but that's okay because I use this little arrow to navigate back and forth when I'm going deep into a map I'll just navigate back out again I can also navigate in the atlas but I'll talk a little bit more about how I organize my files and what these icons mean in a little bit this is the katar in where failen spent her first night I wanted something very homely and vibrant and colorful and here's the bedroom where during the night someone touched her things it's part of the mystery I'll find out who as I play I mentioned that obsidian is crossplatform so you can play on your desktop where I am now or on your phone which I'll show you later when I write on images like this I'm doing it on my phone using a stylist I'll show you how I do that too and The Stylist that I use later on in the video all right that's how I travel through the morthan expanse using Maps here's how I travel through obsidian the icons and the colors on each of the folders come from two different plugins which I'll show you when I show you all the plugins that I'm using for this setup this is the Atlas icons are really important to me because they show me at a quick glance what this map is and as this world fills out I will have a hard time trying to find what all of these maps are so this little hand and coin icon show me that this is a market this symbol indicates Zara's study and it makes sense to me and this is a guild flag my journal entries also have icons on them which indicate the main theme or situation that happened that helped me remember what was in that journal entry in the inventory folder there's just one item faen bow if I want to add an icon to this I just rightclick on it click change icon and I'm going to type in Bow it'll show me everything that has bow in its title I can see Bowman here bow string but bow and arrow looks pretty good so I'm going to use this one the icons that I'm using are from iconize another plugin but I've also added some custom icons to that from Game icons. net which is such a cool site because you can download 4,131 free icons for obsidian you can just click here on download game icons I clicked on PNG white background and transparent and downloaded everything I'll show you the rest of the folders in a moment but I want to show you speaking of icons how to add an icon to a map right now in awning Shire faen is in Zara El serene's office in the castle Zara is the Queen's Oracle and she is about right here so I'm going to add an icon that represents the castle a second icon that represents Zara El serene's office and then I'm going to l L this second icon to Zara L serene's Office map to add icons to excal draw I add them from here because the icons are already in my Vault I quickly learned that adding them from here means that excal draw will change its name to a generic image pasted image and then the date meaning that I can't find that image anymore if I want to search for it I just have a bunch of images called pasted image so I stopped doing that and started bringing them into the map using this insert any file button which allows me to search for the icon here's a castle icon now if you don't know what icon you want to use and you can't see what icon this is it just tells you the name you can first find the icon in your file explorer when I open in system Explorer this folder has a ton of icons in it there are 4,000 icons in this folder so I can always find something of use for whatever I'm looking for in this case I'm looking for a castle and the castle has the look I'm going for so I'm going to use that I'm going to type in Castle in the insert file from Vault click the PNG and click as image I'm going to scroll out all the icons come in in this very very large format so I just grab the edge here and minimize it if you minimize it too much it will actually flip like this so just have to be careful there once you get it to the size that you'd like it to be or close you can just drag it on over to the map now I'm going to resize it a little more that's about right now I'm going to find an icon that represents Zara's study I have found an icon that I really love that looks kind of like a moon shape and a um orb or Celestial orb shape that's abstract 16 so I'm going to find that and use that for Zara's study icon I've made this icon a little bit smaller than the castle icon because it's a room in the castle instead of the entire Castle itself now let's link it to the map for Zara's Stu to link something right click it on mobile long press it to get this menu click create link and over here on zarus study map I'm going to right click it click copy obsidian URL and paste it and enter now there's a link here for her map I'm going to lock down this icon so I don't accidentally move it around now here is the little link and I can click it and we are in Zara's Castle Chambers this room is so wonderful and is really really cool it built a lot lot of story for me the images are helpful for me to expand on the story and ask further questions which just expand the world it's really thrilling to me now let's check out the journal entries you can see I just have two journal entries because I've just started role playing using this method and I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with others and to my happy surprise many of you wanted to know how I did it the entire Journal that you were looking at was written by chat gbt but it was not created by chat GPT I created this story narrating it into chat GPT using the talk to chat GPT extension which I'll show you later and chat GPT turned all of my mish mash of words and thoughts into these really clearly written journal entries here's Zoran the carpet Merchant and as the story went along I developed the maps and placed them right into the story the neatest thing about this map this one for example is that it is Interactive it updates if I go in and add a new icon for example to awning Shire the castle icon I just put in is going to show up in the map which you can see right here the two icons we just added to this map now show up in the journal entry which means that the journal entries are interactive the maps are interactive they will grow and develop as your story grows and develops I love this about this method of using excal draw for mapping with solo roleplay I place all kinds of different things that are important to me kind of like a Keepsake in the journal entries I like to imagine that failen is actually drawing directly into her journal at the end of her day or her adventures and she's keeping track of everything that happens to her at the end of each journal entry I love to put a chapter embellishment that ties together the main thing that happened in that entry and for this entry it is as you can see again a moon and star which was so very important to a failin story finally I will have text generator another plugin I'm going to show you summarize the entire Adventure so if I needed to add this into chat GPT I could just select this entire summary and begin the new session with a detailed summary of what's happened thus far the last thing that text generator does is create these links if you're an obsidian user you'll know that one of the key selling points of obsidian is the ability to link your notes together I didn't want to sit there creating links for everything in my journal so I created a text generator template that gets the links reads the entire context and creates all of the links for everything mentioned in the context which means in My Graph view over here I've got graphs already forming that are going to link up all of these notes together like for for example this little link here is connected to all of the other attached links as my world grows and as my story grows the graph view for my entire world will grow and begin to form connections this is the template for the text generator that creates the links I knew some of you would want to know so I'll just show it here on screen feel free to copy this and add it to your own templates for text generator since we're down here in the ministration area I'll give you a quick view of this this is a folder it's empty right now out but this is where I might archive notes that I don't need anymore the documentation for iron sworn and star Forge are in this folder here and obsidian reads PDFs like the map here here's a PDF of the moves all of the moves that you can make in Iron sworn which is the system that I'm using to play this game in this obsidian folder I keep all of my system files things that I use in the background utilities that kind of thing like all of the audio video PDF attachments go in this folder and finally this is my oracles and tables folder because I use chat GPT as an oracle I don't use this folder very much but if I find a cool Oracle that I want to keep I just bring it into my Vault Next Up filin's character sheet filin's character sheet is the dashboard for everything regarding the system and mechanics of the game that I'm playing this is again iron sworn and the first thing I want to show you is iron Journal iron Journal is a free app that allows you to keep your character stats it's very comprehensive has a lot in it and you can actually run a game just with this alone but it doesn't allow you to do all the things like character maps and that kind of stuff that I am doing but it's really great so I wanted to run faan's character sheet from here but I wanted to keep it in obsidian the canvas tool of obsidian is here this is what it looks like it's basically a way to link things together you can add cards which are just like Post-it notes you can just write in them you can drag in a note including an Escala draw drawing you can also add media like images and YouTube videos or audio files and if you rightclick you can add a web page this actually works just like a web page in the browser this view is very big but if you want to zoom in on something like the character sheet just click it and zoom in I love how when you load in it shows you the same welcome that it does on the website Your Time Has Come failing taming it's so cool you can go over here and click in it and you can now move through the website you can show the moves you can show the oracles you can change your momentum add assets and all of that but the reason why I added these additional cards is because messing with this little button on mobile every time I want to make a move or find out about a move particularly because I'm brand new to irons sworn so I'm still trying to to learn all of these moves and I wanted to have it very easy to see and just right here out front so I bought traveler's irons sworn this is traveler's iron sworn the DIY Edition by terribly beautiful I love these cards and how beautiful and colorful they are it's intended to be printed out and laminated but I just screenshot cropped each page of the PDF the information that I wanted and saved it as an image and made all of these into images in a folder and then place the ones that I felt would be most important and that I would use the most right here on the board I can just go right in to any one of them like for example the Oracle zoom in and see exactly what I need to roll on and what the results would be I'm using the greyhawk calendar I'll show you more about that when I show you the plugins including fantasy calendar another Oracle I use is GM's Apprentice I love this site GM's Apprentice is basically a onstop Oracle for all kinds of different things that you can think of including NPCs encounters and treasure and also neat things like Direction icons let's say you were in a dungeon and you were making up the dungeon as you go as you roll you can get the arrow that points in different directions so if you come up to a hallway you can say it went right or left or whatever based upon these arrows and get a randomized dungeon these ions also can do whatever you want them to do or however you want them to mean like this Rune Oracle which is really cool as well too lots of different ways to bring Randomness to your game I also use scryfall which is a cool way to get a random Magic the Gathering card clicking random card gives you a cool beautiful graphic that you can also use as an Oracle and the thing I like about it so much is that you can download the image or the art and drop it right into your Journal I also have my little eight-sided Oracle that is also over here in this sidebar and the iron Thorn combat move flowchart by dog wearing sunglasses on the iron sworn subreddit finally this is failin herself I wanted something that looked like a character token so I had mid Journey print this out and then I removed the background using this remove background tool it's free the image that you get if you use the free image is fairly small small in resolution but for my use case it works perfectly fine because there was a little bit of extra space above her profile I just wrote out her signature as I imagined that she would write it when a new NPC comes into the world like Leora the KET in in keeper I create an excal draw drawing just like I've already shown you and I'll write down three random adjectives to describe their personality over time one of these NPCs like Master Braum here might end up becoming a PC a player character just like failen is the most recent NPC to come into the world was zafy who's directly tied to this key here on the journal entry for that day and in the chapter embellishment in this particular journal entry which came out beautifully I've mentioned Zara El Serene quite a lot she's the Queen's Oracle and I'm unsure whether she's evil or not I'd like to get very interesting faces from mid journey and I'll show you a trick on how to get more interesting faces out of mid Journey when we get to that section of the video lastly there's Zoran who you've already seen are happy and helpful carpet Merchant up here in the bookmarks are the main things that I want to keep track of or I access a lot like for example the move cards like combat delve and F all right we are moving and grooving along let's look at some plugins a lot of these plugins are plugins that I have installed in every Vault they're essential utility plugins some of the ones you've already seen in play our file color which makes those beautiful colors in the Explorer over there on the left hand side icon eyes which you've already seen Commander is essential it allows you to customize your workspace an editing toolbar is crucial as well too but what fun is solo roleplay if you can't roll some dice this is Dice roller by Jeremy Valentine the coolest thing about dice roller is that it allows you to actually see the dice I have some saved dice here my 1d8 I use all the time because of the or Oracle down here the 1d6 is how I usually ask chat GPT to give me as an oracle I'll ask it to give me a 1d6 list of whatever the 2 d10 and the 1d6 are for iron sworn it's how you make a move and the 1 d00 is for the oracles I mostly roll when I'm in my journal if I'm at this point in the journal and I want to ask the die or make a move or ask the Oracle I can roll the dice I'm going to roll a 1d8 and I love that it comes flying onto the screen and I got a seven it will also keep the results down here and those results will continue on down here's a 1d6 and here are two d10s and a 1d6 for an iron sworn move I love that they're different colors that's so cool the only thing I don't like about dice roller is I'm going to click this 1 d00 and up here right there you can see that result information there I don't like that particularly on mobile it's distracting and I can see the dice right here anyway and there's no way to turn that off so again hopefully if the developer ever watches this video it would be wonderful if I could turn that post message off as the rolls gather up you can just scroll down here and see them all tracked down here you can also do formulas rather complicated formulas but I haven't gotten much into that yet I have it set so that my dice will stay on the screen until I click something I've already shown you Escala draw so next is fantasy calendar this is a wonderful way to bring in your own custom calendar that you can build from scratch I didn't want to go that deep into the details of the world yet so I just used a calendar from greyhawk greyhawk world has two moons and one son the gry hawk world has been around since 1972 and it's actually tied to Gary gyx who is the founder and creator of DnD D but I liked this calendar because not only is there a lot of information on line about it but the world of greyhawk has two moons and one sun and as you've seen in my story line there's a lot of references to celestial bodies in the story line when you create a new calendar you can just choose a preset and the calendar of greyhawk is right there when you have the calendar in your obsidian it shows up in general here I love the customizability of obsidian so much you could move this calendar anywhere on this screen in fact anything that you see like for example the bookmarks or the recent files can be moved all around the workspace so you can have it look exactly as you want it to look if you get into themes there are many themes available for obsidian I haven't gone into that because I think the obsidian default theme looks great and so I don't really see the point in messing with that but if I ever get bored of it there are a lot of obs obsidian themes to choose from so that is the sidebar fantasy calendar dice roller and my Oracle which is just a note you can place any note that you want here you could even place an excal draw drawing here you can also move for example this Oracle if I want to move it to the side here I can do that and change the width so that the Oracle was always available to me over here or if I don't like that I can simply put it back you can also change how things are here as far as their height is concerned and you can also change the width of either side of these columns but where plugins are concerned I saved the best for last this plugin I love with my whole heart and soul this plug-in brings GPT 4 or GPT 3.5 specifically into your obsidian Vault the plugin's name is text General generator there's so much that you can do with this plugin one of the things that I never see anyone talking about is a feature that's really rather hidden in text generator and that feature is here these text extractors basically what it means is you can put a YouTube link in your obsidian note click on this text extractor and it will literally take all of the text of the video and stick it right in your note this is so cool I don't know why more people don't talk about this I use it all the time I will continue to talk about this until I turn blue in the face because it is so cool and nobody knows about it so well now you know here's the quick and dirty on how you use text generator and why it's so amazing this is a plot questions and notes it's in my basket my basket is basically my inbox for any of my vaults any new stuff goes here before I sort it into a folder I've written out these plot questions and notes and when I end a session I will generally update this with more questions that have happened during play but let's say I want to talk to GPT 4 about these plot questions and find out more about them I'm going to put in a question here what could be some interesting plot twists involving these plot questions the key to text generator the most important thing to note is where your cursor is when you send this information to the model if your cursor is in a line that has text in it just the text in that line will be ENT but if you want it to access all of the context in the note just move your cursor to a blank line now everything above the cursor will be sent if you want to only focus on a certain selection just select that and it will only use this selection when you send the question I'm going to put my cursor here and here is the text generator button when you install text generator it'll normally be over here on the side I moved it over here to the editing tool bar button which allows you to add different buttons this is the stop button stop stream and these are the templates let's go ahead and just send this text to the model the person who betrayed you is actually your closest Ally who did so under dress or manipulation by a powerful enemy the person who touched your things at kind of in is actually a spy for Zara Els Serene who's been keeping tabs that's actually really good leora's asol can help you get home but it also has the power to destroy your well oh my goodness her grandfather is an astronomer who has been trapped in a Time Loop and you need to free him oh wow zafy the thief is actually a royal in Disguise oh man these are so good some of these are really interesting and all you need to do if you want to keep talking to the model is to just type something else and send it and the whole context will be sent and that's how you have a very simple but very effective conversation with GPT 3.5 or GPT 4 I tend to use GPT 4 it gives much better quality answer and I find that I don't use it so much that my bill ever gets more than a couple of dollars a month because I don't send massive context to the API the largest amount of context that I will send is the summary of a journal entry which you can see is fairly long right there speaking of GPT let's head over to chat GPT and I'll show you how I use chat GPT along with talk to chat GPT a Chrome extension to play the game this is how my chat began I spent some time in a conversation with chat GPT defining what it is that I really wanted to have as a role-play game just getting clear on what I wanted my experience to be we then took those principles and game rules and the main character and I coalesced it and asked chat GPT to compress it into this tight block of text over time I developed a block of text a directive for chat GPT that I add to the end of every prompt but first this is basically how I got started you can also start out by just thinking about what kind of game you want to play and giving it some context and then basically saying let's begin the role play okay and at this point I just started to talk using the talk to chat GPT extension I love this extension I do know that GPT 4 now gives you access on the apps to GPT voice and yes the voices sound really good there's no way around that but I still love talk to chat GPT much more than that other integration all I do is I just start talking and you can see this big old block of text is me just closing my eyes and starting to narrate the adventure faen wakes up on the ground her cheek is resting on a derp Stone floor or the ground she can't be sure she's not in any pain and the last thing she remembers is reaching out to touch that oh yes that thing and you can see that I made some verbal mistakes but that's okay because chat GPT is fantastic for under understanding huge blocks of messy text over time I've just gotten better at closing my eyes and ignoring the fact that it's saying a word slightly wrong or or the word failin my character's name is spelled incorrectly I will show you a fix for that later on and I just let the story flow after a period of time when I just feel like I've gotten to a stopping point or a question point I will just ask chat CHT to turn what I just said into to a journal entry and just make it in the first person I learned how to get the model to write more naturally for example this instruction here regards a Lexile reading level 800 which comes from the educational sphere and I worked with chat GPT to discover what the best level would be to get text that was at about the 10th grade level not because I read at that level but that's the level that gets chat GPT to write quote unquote normally not so flowery and falsely it's really fun to ask chat gbt to flesh out your world like for example Master Braum sent a letter to Zara El Serene and I asked chat gbt to write that letter I gave it details about what would be in the letter and it wrote out this really great letter which ended up in the journal the cool thing is that talk to chat GPT allows you to talk to chat GPT but it also allows chat GPT to talk back to you and you can change the voices and you can even make a custom voice that sounds like your own character here in the settings there are a couple settings I want to point out to you I've actually done several deep Dives on the talk to chat GPT extension on my main I versus AI Channel there's one in the card up on the screen right now but a quick overview is you can choose the AI voice and language it is using Google's text to speech to give you the voices and there are quite a lot of voices to choose from but the cool thing here is the 11 Labs integration which using the 11 Labs API you can then create your own character voice over on 11 LS make it sound exactly as you would like and then use that for your talk to chat GPT experience however downside that is not free and you'll need to have a good amount of characters which is the pricing that they use on that site which could cost you maybe $20 a month or so depending on how often you use it next thing I would suggest and the reason why I don't like the gp4 voice integration is because it constantly interrupts me so I have turned turned off automatic send here and created a manual send phrase for me it's compute prompt and I found this phrase works really well for me it's also a phrase that I'm very unlikely to say in the normal process of talking to the model now I'm going to send a request to our Oracle chat gbt based on where failen currently is which I mentioned earlier she is currently sitting in Zara El serene's Castle study hoping for more information or someone who can help her get back to her realm chat jbt I would like for faen who is currently in Zara El serene's office to look around the office and see something that is magical and really interesting that would catch her eye but I want this thing to be unusual and interesting something that's maybe even out of character a little bit for Zara El Serene something that would raise an eyebrow I want you to keep in mind that Zara Els Serene is the Queen's Oracle so she is a revered being kind of like the dolly llama of our world um she's got a massive and gorgeous office with a lot of beautiful items in it so this would be something that would be pretty interesting to catch fen's Eye I'd like a D6 list of items that would match this criteria compute prompt of course here's ad6 list of intriguing items for faen to discover in Zara elen's office enigmatic puzzle cube a dark wooden cube with intricate golden patterns that shift and move animated origami bird a beautifully folded paper bird that every once in a while flutters its wings and moves around the desk singing a soft enchanting Melody before returning to its stationary form each of these items carries a sense of wonder and curiosity making failen ponder their Origins and the story behind Zara Len's possession of them those are some really cool ideas as chat gbt comes up with ideas it triggers my imagination and I get into a flow with the model where I describe with as much detail what it is I'm looking for and then it gives me things that I just never would have thought of but once I see these wonderful things that it's offered I want to see an image of them which leads me to Mid Journey I've been using mid Journey since July of 2022 so over a year now and I've spent a lot of time with mid Journey looking at the different art styles that it can do I love the watercolor look so that is a big part of my prompts what I did in order to start this game is I spent some time coming up with prompt that that really gave me the handdrawn look that I was going for and I just generated different Maps until I got the exact type of map that I wanted then I created a prompt template and used the keywords and just changed out the subject or the descriptions of the subject and then I added those to a Google Keep document and that's basically all I do I just kept trying things until I found something that looked and had that quaint Charming look that I was going for for with mid Journey so if I wanted to generate one of those magical items that chat gbt just suggested I'll just drop it into a template and see what we come up with I'm going to ask mid journey to generate an image of this animated origami bird but I'm going to see if I can get it to generate something that has a Celestial feel to it like it's paper that's made out of Starlight or something like that then I'm going to add to the promp isolated on a white background so that I can then remove the background using the remove background tool that I showed you earlier I got this which looks amazing like a real bird with paper wings and also this which looks kind of like a real hummingbird I find that if I just let go of expectations about what's going to come out my ideas flow with what mid Journey produces and I just go with it and it creates the story with me along with chat GPT here's a little trick I use to get characters that have more unique faces mid Journey has a strong bent towards a very supermodel type of beautiful face and if you just want ordinary characters it can be really hard to get that particularly if you add keywords like RPG fantasy DND D to your prom if you want your characters to look more real more authentic use this following site this person does not exist I will link this in the description but I just grab an image that I like of a face just a face shape and it doesn't even have to be the same gender I'm just looking for something different something interesting because it's amazing what mid Journey will come up with I upload the image to Discord and I usually assign an image weight of 3.5 or 4 if you don't know what I'm talking about I'll put a link to the mid Journey manual documentation down below but if you've been using mid Journey for a little while you'll know about adding an image and then adding image weights so I do that and then I add my prompt and I get very interesting characters consistent characters and then if I wanted to recreate this character again I would just take this image along with the seed image from this person does not exist.com and then I would build off of that by the way this is not a character who is yet in the story but I found this picture and her face so interesting that I'm keeping it for a MPC that might pop up that this image would work with there are so many things that I love about solo role playing in obsidian but I think the thing that I love the most is that I can play both on my desktop and on my phone this is my Android phone that I am mirroring to my desktop to show you how this works everything looks pretty much the same as it does on desktop so to show you how this works I'm going to make a new map and then I will write on it for you with my stylus I'm just going to click the icon up in the top left and that's going to open up my files if you want to go between your Vault you just hit this little down arrow and you can go between your vaults there I'm going to click out of that and I'm going to hold down my stylist on the basket icon here and then I feel my phone give a little vibration and that's pulling up the menu similar to what we saw on desktop I'm going to create a new drawing this is an Escala draw drawing and we'll see this what I want to tap is the little icon on the right hand side below the obsidian logo that will allow me to add a new file from My Vault and then I'm just going to type in the image named name for Zara El serene's office I'm going to drag up a little bit until I see her image here for her study and I'm going to click on as image it brings it in here up in the corner I'm just going to hit the little hand icon to go into dragging mode and then I'm going to drag it down I go back and forth between the hand icon a lot on mobile just going to center it more or less in the image I'm going to go back to the pointer I'm going to hold down the stylus and lock the image you want to lock that image otherwise it'll be running around all over as you move your stylus around and so I just like to lock it down when you select the draw tool you'll get this little menu down in the bottom left hand corner I'm going to click it and I like the stroke width to be thin and over here the top right I'm going to click the white box and you can choose a color here this was immediately confusing to me because when you click on the white there are no sub colors for it the White and the black have no sub colors but if you click on the blue for example you'll get five different shades I guess that's probably a better word than sub colors you can click around here and also just to keep in mind if you click on say the blue and then you go for say the dark blue here all of the icons above change to their dark versions as well too after a while you get used to it but at first I will admit it's a little bit confusing to understand I'm going to click out by clicking on the little pallet icon behind this window that will get rid of everything at want now I just start to write with my stylist my handwriting is okay especially writing with the phone on a stylist that looks pretty good A little note you may have seen the save icon button going red that's because it will automatically save all the time and sometimes this will kind of mess up your drawing as you're going if your phone is trying to catch up with the save and it stalls obsidian for a millisecond or so it might mess up your drawing so it's important to know how to undo you just hit the little undo button here to get rid of that and start over again you can hit redo button to bring it back if you like the way it looks I really wanted the handdrawn look but if your handwriting is such that you don't really want to mess with it there's another option to get a similar look on your drawing I'm going to erase all of that by undoing it I'm going to hit the text button here I'm going to tap and then you can type in what you want when you're done just hit the down arrow here you'll see it looks a bit funky but the minute you go back here to the the pointer tool it shows up you can click and drag it to make it bigger and move it around the screen if you don't like it you can just delete it if you have something that you want to move around the screen you can go back to the pointer tool and you can select it all if you need to scroll out a little bit I'm just going to pinch Zoom to scroll out hit the pointer tool again and then select and drag this is another reason why you want to have your image locked down cuz otherwise it would start to select the image now that you have everything selected you just move it wherever you want on the screen hit anywhere outside of the selection with the pointer tool to make that selection go away last quick note is to hold down your stylus on a blank area of the canvas and you can get to some more options including the important unlock all option if sometimes something is locked down and you can't figure out how to unlock it that's a way to unlock it here's that same drawing with the desktop and the mobile view open at once I use syn thing as a free way to sync back and forth between the desktop and the Android phone and it's pretty fast it syns pretty immediately one note though if you do make a change you want to have your desktop app closed at least this has been my experience make sure your obsidian is closed on your desktop otherwise you'll start to get sync errors because it'll be like wait which way which direction am I supposed to be sinking so I have these both open right now for demonstration purposes but I'm carefully not making any changes in either one of them so I don't get a sync error sync thing will be linked below along with everything else and it works fantastically I highly recommend it so it's easy to use obsidian on your desktop and on your phone and you can sync them using obsidian sync service or the sync tool that I just showed you called sync thing but what if you want to use talk to chat GPT on your phone which you can't because it's a Chrome extension for the desktop only that's where Moonlight game streaming comes into play Moonlight game streaming is a free and open Source app for you to stream your desktop or your games to your phone and play them I just use it to stream my desktop but you need to have an Nvidia graphics card if you don't have an Nvidia graphics card you can also just use the steam streaming to desktop there are also other options as well too but I highly recommend the Moonlight game streaming app I've used it for years and it really does work wonderfully but if you try and talk to chat GPT through your phone nothing's going to happen because you need a microphone phone and that's where W mic comes in wo mic allows you to turn your phone into a microphone that you can use with your computer the way it works is you install W mic on your phone there's an app and then you also install it on your desktop there are several options to connect to your phone one is USB you can also use Wi-Fi which is the method that I use when I want to start a solo role playing session I open up the wo mic app on my phone and then I log into my desktop using the Moonlight game streaming app I then start up the W mic connection using the desktop app of w mic and then I open up Chrome start talk to chat GPT make sure I have the microphone selected in the drop down and then I just start talking and I start playing when I'm doing this method and I want to go into obsidian I don't open the obsidian app on my phone because then I would lose my Moonlight game streaming connection I just open up the desktop version of obsidian and then just use it on my phone I can see it perfectly well I make it full screen so it shows up on the entire phone and then I just go back and forth between the Chrome browser and obsidian to do all that fun writing on my phone this is the last tool in my toolkit this is my stylist I love this thing it's made of metal I love the color of it it's got a good weight to it I'm actually holding it in my hand right now as I'm talking to you and I like how it Glides across the screen which is what makes it so easy to write whatever it is that you want on your maps and character sheets I'll drop an Amazon link to this lovely little stylist pen in the description below I highly recommend it let me know if you're going to adopt any of this for your solo roleplaying toolkit if you're feeling inspired I really hope so because I love talking about real life use cases for chat GPT and large language models like how I used chat GPT to build the computer that I'm recording on right now I show you a complete breakdown of how I did that in this video Onre green right now
