well this is Tim here I hope you're keeping well this is SolidWorks less than seven and this is just a review on the material that we covered in class now and the plan for lesson seven is to go over six drawings and we're going to create the parts and I'm going to create these engineering type frogs so this would be the first one and this is drawing number two easy enough drawing number three drawing number four five and six okay so I'd like you to whenever you're creating the drawings please and I want you to create them that are very very close to the actual drawings are given it that I've given you so I don't really want you to go off and your own tangent and create drawings the way you think you should I'd like you to create them as carbon copies as really as close as possible because I kind of want to force you to practice all the drawing that the annotations they're lions they're different types of views and so on so that's this is what we're going to work on today and then the other thing is all of the drawings are going to be whoops all of the drawings are going to be on this say ACC template that I drew up a few years ago 2008 believe it or not it's what I drew it first so many years ago is that that's a good well five years six years anyway so let's let's have a look at this let's first piece and my my feeling is I'd like to draw this top view basically the majority that top view and what we'll end up doing is yeah you can see here we have a floor and then we have a wall that goes around us so you have the floor or any of the wall and then you have these three bosses one two three of different heights then you have this thing sticking out here you have another slot there and then it looks like he's after calling out this bit of the wall there so it's it's not too bad it would I'm thinking it might help you if you had a 3d view but em you know this is what happens you have to be in a draw stuff up sometimes in just in 2d so let's just draw this view out on the top plane and let's just go from there okay so it looks like it's definitely inches so let's get it let's get a draw and go our part board first so we get a new part inches sketch well create a sketch on the top plane it really doesn't matter now let's have a look and see where let me just close down with this template for a second where is a good place for this origin my feeling is right there where that hole is okay so let's put in a circle a little construction circle and the origin and then we will work our way around the wall now what is this let's make a construction circle of a half an inch for the time being point five I'm just going to turn this into a construction circle so I click on us and I go for construction okay now when we go back and forth a lot so we have a rectangle and then we have an offset so let's get there get a rectangle go in here a corner rectangle it looks like it's two inches from there to there and then what is it two inches from there to there and then we know this is three point one eight for a three point one eight five okay excuse me I have the sniffles at the moment two inches and then we have from there to there three point one eight five oh yeah hi all right two inches three point one eight five okay now then we have two point three seven five and five inches come after forget that over already two point three seven five two point three seven five from there to there and then that's five inches okay now let's make sure that looks correct okay now um we have a quarter inch wall that goes around decided some fill itself so let's work let's do that so I'm going to go offset I'm going to turn off select chain make this point two five I'm just going to offset these lines I yell gosh lovely and then we have okay we got that let's draw let's draw this big semicircle in there what is that it looks like it's 1.125 is there anywhere else we're sort of assuming those lineup 1.125 yeah that works 1.125 okay and then I draw lines from there to there and there to there okay let's just trim this bit of it away let's go back and have a look so I'm just slowly building up this view now I have some Phillips and they're a quarter of an inch or I put them in in a second let's put in a line there and a line over this boss it'll be like that here we go no I don't the midpoint okay okay let's look at these dimensions here em 0.185 I think I can see it dimension missing right already we got this point one eight five point eight seven five let's put that in from that edge to that edge 0.875 this is check it as it from the edge yeah from the very outer edge to that let line there point at 75 now what about here though I need some sort of reference from there to there I'm not getting us here now I know I'm not getting it there am I getting it here and cover my mouth here and so I need this dimension from here to here now what is that I'm still looking I'm going to put going to put in two inches just from there to that line we'll make it two inches just for the time being I'm really certain I can't find it there so if we have to change it later we will but make it got two inches I'm going to trim this bit of it away now there's a quarter of an inch let's zoom in here there there there there there they're all over the place aren't there so let's do that let's do a quarter of an inch Phyllis 0.25 there's one there's two there's open it doesn't like that let's just put those in first that's missing a line okay let's put that line back in okay is there a is there a fill it there I don't think so just one two three four five Emerson quite a few of them okay and one two whenever you put in a fill at some times it removes that lion in it it's actually supposed to do that so you're gonna have to redraw that Lane in like so and you'll just get used to it if i canõt what does it do let's see does it keep it in there no it doesn't there's some sort of relation missing let's put that line back in tritter Denise come on down very strange I'm gonna undo what I did only I don't do what I did there and let's go back here yeah what line has to be there so let's see what happens yeah I'm just after on doing there because dot dot Phyllis was gone a bit crazy it removed two relations there that I definitely didn't want to I didn't need them hanging around and it's not line still there's our lights and there yet okay good let's put in another one okay yeah it's removing all sorts of Lane salt I think I know I always tell you to do feature fill it's sometimes it's sometimes it is a better idea that I might have done feature fill it's at this stage and now what happened there because I lost this line here this horizontal line this line doesn't have a dimension of five from there anymore so I need to reap I need to read put that in so there's the five inches and I'll tidy up these dimensions a little bit that's probably I'm kind of covering some new material there that you might not have seen so I apologize from God a bit fast so what's the main what is the main thing that the main thing is whenever you whenever you put in Phillips on a kind of a more complex sketch what'll happen is they'll actually delete lines they'll put that fill it in and then they'll trim that rest of the line like kind of like they're supposed to so some reserved I should actually put that line in or put that line back in so um that's it what else do we have yeah that's the sketch okay and we'll add this extra we'll add this in later this I don't recall it boss we'll add that in later so let's let's do this let's extrude the floor then extrude the wall and then we will extrude the wall you were missing this piece as well though so let's have a look that's not right we need this piece in here let's do this let's extrude the wall all the way to there and then we add him in later okay and that's just instead of having this fill it here let watch this I want to go extend and then I got to delete this just lets tell you that opposition okay and then what's going on here we need to make this radius and that radius equal to one another there she goes okay all right let's go well what is the thickness of the floor and thickness of the floor is a quarter of an inch so I'll go extrude and I'll extrude that contour that contour - and that I will make a 0.25 now we have our floor just just a rectangle I'll right-click here and I'll turn that sketch on so you can see it a bit more and then I go to extrude this wall up now what is the wall height the wall height is 2.25 now let's uncheck that in feature get in there and let's highlight these contours there's one don't know we don't that one okay that's the wall and we'll extrude this 2.25 and you go okay that's it and we make sure that we right-click and I make sure that this assault is turned on now what's the next let's get this boss here extrude and what height is that lovely we can add dimension 1.75 Oh from the very bottom or to the top so I go extrude get it get that sketch turn off that tin feature let me just show you another way I'll just go extrude in aghasura what you want to extrude we can just hire highlight this sketch here and then this tin feature doesn't turn around and now we can manually select the contours so there's one now what is it again 1.75 is it again let me check 1.75 yep there's that and then this Center session now what's that it goes up one point three seven five from the bottom look at that lovely one point three seven five we just double check that one point three seven five okay and that start so let's right-click and turn off that sketch and now we have this okay the easy part is I'm going to add this this boss here at the back end now that you can see that it comes from the very top line and then it is extruded a half an inch down so I'll create a sketch on that plane and go normal to and I'll draw a hole or a circle and I'll just get the quadrants from there to there and there to there sorry about that a bit of a cold all right I got to go from make those two lines collinear make this point on that point nope don't do that make a vertical and then it goes black know what is the distance we know that the distance from that point to there is two point three one five so check it over two point three one five beautiful and now we'll trim this bit of it away and I'll put in a circle there now what is it point five I remember that the thickness of this boss is half an inch now your alarm bell should be ringing officer Tim you have to enclose our region so there you go and get out of the sketch I'll rotate I'll go extrude a flippers and they got point five and I'll go okay so there's that now a bachelors fill itself no fill it look at that mr. Phillips little tiny ones it's kind of not clear and I'll leave that stretch the way it is in reality in real life you would have some curves there because this is a part would be milled out it would be milled edge will be held in the vise just like that and you would have a big male that would come round and it would mill out all of this and that mill bit has a radius so it's impossible to have like a 90-degree angle there so you have all these fill it's like showing it would drive along there like that and you'd have a curve there and a curve here so we just draw it away the person is broader lives okay and what's next now if we look at if I rotate this and I look at it look at it from that side it looks like there's a cord out so let's just draw that in our credits sketch I'll draw my lines I'll go from point eight seven five the point eight seven five okay and then I go what is what's the distance from here to here do we have that there's another dimension miss no but it looks like it's called from the very very edge so let's look at this and I've got to turn on the wireframe and I'm going to drag this point on that line I'm going to make them coincidence look at that lovely and that I needed to mention here not to mention it looks like was that lioness their 0.875 yeah point eight seven five okay let's go back to shaded what edges let's rebuild a sketch and let's go extrude cotton I'm going to go up to next let's see what happens and it sort of caught that bit of it which is nice up to next extrude caution first look at that lovely that's it no I'll create a sketch on that face I'm going to go normal to and we want to draw in this boss we forgot about so straw circle and then we're going to get the quadrant lines like so and I go from there to there I'm going to line up these two points these two lines and make and collinear and then I'm going to do the same with this I'm going to make click click that edge call convert entities let's see if it's going to work we make a tangent part yeah look at that now what's the distance from there to there and 1.125 to the center from the very edge one point one two five one point one two five there we go and I'll just click this edge go convert entities and let's trim that bit of it away there and a bit of it away and we go extrude and it goes up to this surface here but let's just check yeah it goes all the way up to that surface right there so up the surface which surface to an extruder that surface there now if that surface changes high this boss will follow okay there's that you know we got to add a few minor details so I'm going to show you something new these these holes are coming in from the bottom under counter bores you can see that from those views there it's a counter bore okay now let's do let's do this first counter bore here and it's saying it's a counter bore 0.625 0.44 one through and then 0.125 deep from far side okay so I'm going to rotate this I'm going to turn on the hidden lines so we can see on see-through I'm going to click that face and I'm going to go up whole resort and we've all these different types of holds we have counterbore countersink through almost the other one and a tapped hole so hold on just for one second very very bad now we know we want to counter a bar and I will open this up and we want ansi inch and a counter bore you can just actually specify the type of hole that you want to know we don't really unfortunately it just doesn't tell us whether it's a quart or 20 or it's a certain type it's giving us kind of a custom and dimensions so you got to come into here I don't know do we have to do we could show custom size and that's what we want yeah I click on character bar click on show custom sizing and now I have all of this so you know the hole is what and 0.44 1.4 for one we know the counterbore is point six to five that's five eighths and we know the depth is what the depth is 0.125 okay so let's import all of those three I'll go to positions now I before I clicked on whole position I clicked on the face so I could just put this in straightaway okay and and that's let's turn on turn that on and after that Knox like lovely okay the next one is the counter bar that goes to that boss so I rotate and I'll show you again I go into it rotate and I I click on the face first and then I go to whole wizard if you don't do that it's going to be giving you grief you see what I mean and now it's a half an inch point eight point eight seven five one point one two five so let's have a look I can t remember 0.875 I think it's a half an inch is that yeah all right let's hit the spacebar now if I go to positions it's a little bit well I can lock it to that origin which we know is that point so let's just turn this on there on the headline now you also need to look at end conditions through all so we can have a blind hole do we can control the depth I don't know if you can see that very well okay look at that look and you can see the drill pointer and everything so that end condition is blind so it just goes in a little bit but we don't want that we want that to drill all the way through so I'll right click Edit feature let's go down to end condition let's just change that to true all I'll just push right through there okay that's that hole okay what else do we have and let's go back now this hole comes up from the bottom and it goes up until it reaches that slot so let's put the slot in first and then we'll Lou the hole okay now look at this slot here on the side okay I hit hit the face click on sketch hit the spacebar go normal to watch this tools sketch entities stress slosh I just go fine fine and then the third buying all right and three points will give us a slot instead of drawing two circles elaine's and trimming it takes two seconds and the distance from the bottom to the center of the slot point eight seven five okay and point seven five is the distance from the center to the center now one says two point four four hmm that looks like a screw up I'm going to put a quarter of an inch radius on that or a half an inch let's see what it looks like is it point four four levels now it doesn't seem right Ready's point four point two two that looks kind of closer point two point four four one what that is two point four four one let's have a look at a student's book just half an inch looks like red is 0.25 that'll work okay um oops be careful there now okay let's have a look point seven five and then one point seven five from that point out to the edge there two there one point seven five okay so I'll get out of here I'll rotate and let's see what this looks like I'm going to go extrude gosh I'm going to go up to next there's a nice little slot on this side so what we'll do is we'll create a hole that extrude until it reaches that slot so like hit the spacebar click create a sketch turn on there the hidden line and let's have a look down umber 0.315 point three one five okay and then we go from it's from where is it it's a half 1/2 an inch from the edge I can do that half an inch from the edge and then what else you missing from the very front edge to point one two five what is a two point one two five okay it goes black let's tidy up those dimensions a little bit let's drag them in let's exit out of features extrude costs up to next you know all of this turn on shaded with edges and let's have a look I look at that I'm pretty sure that's everything nice little part and we got holes we got the bosses you got the slot you got the Phillips that's ish let's save desktop lesson seven part one okay now what's next there's the part we want to create a drawing odors and let's look at the drawing there's there's four views and we would want an isometric so we're going to draw this on eleven by seventeen okay now we're going to create a template that we're going to use all the time so I'm going to show you how to do that and the template is going to look something like this okay I'll be back in a second I'm going to get a cup of orange and M and then we move on to the drug I'm back and let's create the drawing for this part now my plan is to draw this on 11 by 17 sheets I'd like to use the ACC template so what I'm going to do is you can open up 11 by 17 drawn I'm going to edit that and we'll save it as a template so you'll see what I mean there in a sec alright so what do we do we call file I don't elastic file new drawing but this will come up we want an and C B I want to see 11 by 17 right there I'm going to go okay and what's nice about this 11 by 17 with the bigger sheets is they have grid at the top so you have one two three four five six seven days at the top on the side ABCD now that's for is people can call it grid grid references like a ace and they can get your attention down to this box so that's what that's for now what we'll do is we're going to create a template that's similar to this okay now a couple I'll go through this any slower I'll try and go through it slow so we lose we draw this kind of title block end and look we may as well may as well just edit so I'll go too fast already let's right-click and I go edit sheet format and highlights all of this under leases get rid of it all all right like so no I think I'll have to delete the number three from the bottom there let's let me just want to do that by yeah there is okay now let's get rid of that okay and I'll draw in that right that bit of a rectangle okay let's look at these dimensions one inch 5.5 by one inch pipe okay I'm not going to change you we're just either do i this fight point five by one inch like so now we can make it a bit bigger but and let's keep going for a better anywhere and let's draw these lines in 2.75 and then two so from there to there I'm just going to point seven five and I'm going from there to there and make that two okay no I got to blow my nose again sorry about that so did you throw this title block and just like we will draw a sketch oh don't do that okay this is the salt I'm using to to the coral if my precedent ends there recording and so I need to draw these lines in down here okay so from there to there and there to there alright now we have that 1 inch and now what this is what's this going to be won't hard point three three and from there to there point three three okay now that's that's the title block that I'm using on a half by eleven lately to make it a little bit bigger I'm going to make this a 1.5 and I'm going to make this seven now what does that look like that looks a bit better okay and we make this 0.5 made us 0.5 now we need we don't need that we don't need that look back that let's make that 3 and we make this 2.5 very nice okay so there you go I might change those now in a second it's obviously I'm kind of winging it today 3.25 okay now I'm going to put the bird in and then I'm going to add in the text so how do we get the burden and where is that bird so where do we get the AACC logo we'll go to Google I'll type in a CC logo I'm going to go to images and look at this beautiful or like this one right here I'm going to right click and I'm going to go save image us I'm going to save this to the desktop and in here on the desktop I'm going to right click and I'm going to have a templates follower this what you should do 10 place let's even be a bit more specific Solid Works templates and put that wrong in there put that image in there so let's go back I'm going to go insert a picture I'm going to find that picture all right I'm going to resize this yeah this is what I'll do with save us a bit of work here all right just have our logo right there like gosh he had too bad let's see how I feel about that now in a sec okay then we have title drawn by class unit sighs okay title drawn by class and see if I can remember those and okay we're going to go annotation nose now notice if I pointed something I get a leader okay if I'd all pointed something I just get the box so just watch that now I'm going to use and whenever I created this original template I was going through a love affair with a font called euro style now the problem with the old style font is and it's very a lot of computer so harvest so a lot of computers all harvest is it kind of screws the drawing up so we're not going to use this euro style font we're going to something else so let's go back our more font we use look century gothic will do just fine drawn by and now let's see what I'm doing here is I'm just copying and pasting those and they're a little bit big so let's highlight it and let's change that point size we make that 10 now wants the Force One title drawn by class title title okay so I like the size of us so I press control highlighters ctrl-c ctrl-v and watch this what's nice about this is it lines things up like so you're looking for those yellow lines and then what's is drawn by okay that's a little bit big there and we have to move that up drawn by title now what we do here will do this Plus and then what's this units I'm guessing okay and there there are those three let's move this up here and let's line up let's line the text up not bad okay so let's do this let's delete that dimension and not to mention let's drag this over a little bit okay six point four two point five if we make this two point six what am I looking for look it doesn't have to be exactly like mine I'm looking for it to be neat I'm looking for things to line up and it needs to have days class units drawn by all of that and the logo okay now I could have believed those dimensions on those that come up every single time so I'm just going to delete that and if I delete all of it it starts going blue and we don't want to blue if I right-click and I go edit sheet it's going to be great okay energy former what you're going to do is you're going to highlight all of these on this is the one time not just the lines you text that you can use fix I will just fix all that lovely title draw by day class unit so what I want you to do is also and let's put in a title and now what we call this an engineering template one let's make it a bit bigger that looks good I don't know I feel that that logo to be honest there's kind of a bit big let's go back and have a look and sees are a better looking logo I know is that the one we picked yeah I think I'm going to pick this one here but it's a little bit small that will work okay save image as and let's put that in SolidWorks templates you play don't give a damn but I don't know I'm just I'm not big it just doesn't look good to me and just doesn't fit arrays are delicious and I'll go insert picture and we got this logo it's a little bit pixelated for making a bit smaller it might look a bit better yeah it's a bit a slayer mm-hmm that's not gonna work either okay let's go back and have a look again this you see logo images already come come just called through here see if I can find something laughs let's type in on Arundel Community College logo now we're in business we have more I'm still bit small too small I know what I think Raj I right-click here save image as probably the same one that looks a little bit better either one will do look I'm being a bit obsessive here the world either whatever logo you find will be totally fine I just want you to practice putting in a picture to be quite honest you look and another thing is if you want to create your own custom and title blocks with your own company name or your own name you could make something up I'm all for that too and that's a better looking logo of solet's that's a lot nicer looking okay I don't ever get as a subsistence is I on edit sheet format and let's delete that anchor let's move it over a little bit and then we'll do the same again fix it fix that Lane okay wait I looks good now engineer tablet drawn by plus ctrl-c ctrl-v I like the size of that font and I'm just bringing it down it could be a little bit paler let's make it sixteen Arnaud that's highlighted and let's make it 16 okay now what's today's the days is the 3rd of the 4th 2014 I roughly six year since I did my for say ACC Taplin this is the second one okay Class E and T two six zero units inch inches all right that's this there's the title block finished and okay what do we do next we're going to we're going to do this we're going to go to tools options document properties we're going to make sure the drafting standard is ANSI we're going to check that the dimensions are units are in inches so we can set whatever we want here I can go to you know I don't even know what I want to change your annotations dimensions like what is the precision at the moment the precision is only two places I can make a three places you know I think all of this should be fine I'll go okay so if setup set all of that this doesn't look too bad okay what do we do we go file save us instead of saving this is a drawing you're going to save this as a drawing template we're going to call this and what it automatically does is it saves that at the templates folder now what you're going to do is you're going to save this - I don't know your saw works templates folder and we call this a a see see template now what is 11 by 17 now we're going to go save okay now watch this if I go to file new if I go to file new this is what you see here what you're going to do now for now one is going to click on advanced and you're going to look in templates here now I have an error lab template for a commonly used to work for an or not a draw but I don't see where my AACC template is I just created as why isn't it there so let me show you that again you're going to go file not open you're going to click on advanced and hopefully your template is going to be here now I'll tell you why it isn't because we have we created the template we didn't tell SolidWorks where the template resides so how do you do that we're going to go tools I'm trying to remember options file locations system options file locations show folders for document templates so this is where the template folder is now what we can do is we can say look you can either add it to here or you can add another folder now what folder am I going to add the SolidWorks templates folder I'm going to go ok excuse me for one second now your computer is going to have hopefully is going to have SolidWorks installed on it already it's already going to have a template now what you should do really is you save this template in that directory you have to worry about anything and it will automatically save in that directory when it does I say well this is where it will default the default directory will be you should just save it in there now I'm going to go okay I'm going to go yes and look what happens I go file new and in here there's a place called SolidWorks templates so you're going to click on advanced if it's not there then hopefully it is not the top and there you go now what was the name of this file we saved it what was dr w do t so it's a SolidWorks template file now watch this when I open this up this is no longer a dr w do t this is just a standard dr w believe it or not you might have to you might have to let me show you if I go save us it saves it as it's wrong it's no longer it what's happening here is it's actually using the template file to create a drawing with now that's it I'll show you again how you use it so we have our part my goal you you're going to click on advanced hopefully it's going to be here if it's not you haven't told SolidWorks where the templates directory is or you haven't saved it in the template directory so now we have our drawing and every time we have our drawing this is going to come up and it's ready to go okay so I go just not design library we want view palette and the fact that the drawing of the part I want is the power working on now let's have a look at the drawing we credit we have a front top and then we have the sides okay easy enough I'll just go there there there now what we need to check I didn't check this when they set the template a right click there I'll go properties uncheck and then its third angle type of projection part angle okay now these views are a little bit small so I go to the parent view which is thus I'm going to make this one is to 1.5 and that's more like it and then I'm going to get an isometric view up here how do I do that projected view I'm going to go click on by my my parent view and I can get that for you or I could have clicked on one of these views I'll get it from a different angle it depends on what what the parent view is okay I actually like that better or I could you know I can click on there and get it from that angle so it depends on what your original view is so I'll delete that delete a few and pull him down I'm going to click on this view of make it a bit smaller I'm going to go one is to two like it was before and I'm gonna turn on the shaded edges all right look enough lovely and click this view I'm gonna go hidden lines there's a lot of hidden lines there but let's just put let's leave it the way it is I don't know I don't think I wanna do other all the views and I might have to go with this look I'm I'm changing the rules that I said look all the views are gonna be the same so these three are going to be hidden lines and this one isn't so let's do that but it is here hit make them all hidden lines sorry for the confusion shoulder hidden lines in the model okay so that's it we have the five views now that for ISO mat for orthographic underwater isometric let's change this let's go edit sheet format and go lesson seven part one and the days is today lovely the class everything is I don't need to change everything now let's put some dimensions end so let's get the dimension in the box three point one eight five what's clearly nice is that imagine that imagine color is like a grayish tone that the views are black you know that might come up and by default on your solder works you could go in there and you could change that in options colors okay and it's one of these it's one of those dimensions there I don't know what it is and don't thing you can do is you can create layers and I'll show you that later but it's kind of nice if your dimensions are a different color from the views it makes them more clear okay um so let's put the dimensions in from here this you here we have the half-inch we have these two those two okay so I'm just I'm just plugging these dimensions in okay um what else let's get this dimension okay what's going on here we have the radius point one two five we've got that actually forgot that we kind of salu this what we can do we can I just fill it in point one two five we make a change there save us I'll close it down adds that fill it in the drawing okay let's look at this top view what do you have to do Oh lots of dimensions I'm just going to throw them in before I do that I'm going to add the whole College see that's not a point three one five through that's kind of confusing because these are custom whole custom whole wizard holds it the whole collar it's not working well that is the reason why and so we're just gonna have to do this manually so we got the point eight seven five we've got the half an inch I have a feeling it's going to be this maybe maybe not now maybe it works for you guys but but it doesn't simply work in here point four four one two point six to five and that's why Roger let's just do the depths of them here point one two five okay the depths of the counter bores and I'm just running through this can't really give you a good commentary just while I'm dimensioning wall thickness just take your time you know they typically it takes the same amount of time to create a drawing as it does the part you know I know what's boring and you'd rather not be dimensioning but it's important and if you miss a dimension you're just going to make more work for yourself you're going to get a email saying that there's dimensions missing and you know the machine is serious going to be on us to just piss them off so take your time and unput the dimensions on there well it is a good example is you guys hate when there's dimensions missing on a drawing no it's the same for machines so they expect or the people who are producing your parts expect the same they want they get upset when there's one there's not dimensions on drawings because it requires communication then alright and the guideline is that it's better not to include too many dimensions or extra dimensions but if they're if you had to do either/or it's definitely better to have extra dimensions than miss dimensions if you know what I mean okay we got that we got quite a few on there and I want you to do is as you pipe the dimensions cross them out on the drawing okay I got all that but also we missing we're missing the dimensions of that hole got the half an inch there are very nice and porous I think this year is a good view for putting in the heights of those bosses that we have that point seven-five already there what are this one try and put you two matches in the outside of the object if you leave them inside the objects like here it just makes it difficult to read keep the bigger dimension to the outside so the small is here and then the middle and then the bigger one we're still missing that slot so before we put the slot in let's go to annotation Center mark and let's put in a central mark come on and we don't want a slot set remark we want them at the edges we want them at the Centers of the two circles okay so from the center to the bottom edge 0.875 0.25 and what else we need to set the center distance we got that what else we need from there and the drawing it looks like it's coming from here from that center to that edge 1.75 it would be nice if that dimension on this could line up one of that seems this the last thing we're missing right click here open the part right click up the material angle play and carbon steel save let's calculate our mass properties mass properties three point what else could we do to improve this look if you want to show off you could get a section a section view go on that's kind of nice a section view there so it gives somebody a good idea of what's to you in a bit so let's have a look at some of these drawings again we've just completed this one this is kind of easy boring reading what a chord is quite a quickly in class this is a little bit more challenging so I'd like to give this a go and what are the main features the main feature is this made the main shape itself okay that's feature number one drawing that's going to be a bit of a pain and the person is dimensioning of this artisan over here it's like I get all of this I see there zero there along the horizontal and 12.5 and so on there is zero zero there and it looks like it's from here to there's three points we figure it out how the person's doing and it's a little bit as well maybe there's a reason for it was so getting this made shape it's gonna be a bit of a pain then we have this little notch there little notch cone then we have this little curve slot but then we have this array of countersink holes okay so you can see that from the section view and then we have these quarter-twenty and tapped holes then we can see their quarter 23 players is a half an inch deep alright let me just zoom into here what what is what does that look like to us basically what's happening here is the person is drilling in when a drill now it's impossible to have a 100% tap you're always going to have you know 25% just drill and the 75% is the rest of that that thread you know you can you can file away there that's happened really unusual bottoming it's happened really extend that but typically you're not going to get more than 75 to 90 degrees 90 percent of thread so I'll give this a go and I'm kind of I'm kind of thinking where to begin but I'm just going to sketch it out and let's see how we get over it so it's an inches so I got a new part on a credit sketch on the top lid now where is a good place for an origin I'm going to make this point right here our origin and I'm going to use these ordinate dimensions to try and figure this out so this will be our origin okay now it's roughly seven and a half inches over I go away and I come back to the point and I tried to get a curved and it won't work for me so let's just do this three-point arc so but like that and then it comes down and over and then down okay down is it horizontal no what's a tan I'd go on that down something like that is our initial sketch so let's have a look at this it's ten point four minus two point five from there to there let me see if I can remember that ten point four minus two point five seven point nine and then it's ten to the very very top of that minus three point five six three okay so let's do this I'm going to put in a central line and I'm going to go for 10 - I can't even run the number ten minus three point five six three three point five six three okay - there I'm going to make this tangent to that something like that something like so partition and then I'm going to go from that point down to there is no I don't know why it is possible you know I don't know why they did that and I don't know we play it by ear seven point seven five - three point five six three so from that point to there seven point seven five - three point five six three a cardamom run I don't know how he can remember those numbers 4.19 are ice and then let's have a look two point five from that point to our origin to point five from there to there the trick is is understanding how these dimensions work okay these are the dimensions I hate them but some people use them two point five okay I know that's what else have we got and five point two five minus three point five six no don't be like that hold on a sec and why is this movement that it's not like moving note that leg stays there know what happened there okay let's put a radius on this now this radius is on that line and it's 10 inches radius 10 inches so it's 10 inches from that point all the way down 10 inches okay so let's go back and let's go offset entities always make 10 inches I'll click on this I'll put it down and let's make that for construction okay now our center point of rotation is right there is it now let's just check from there to there okay ten inches and then let's get let's just find it let's make this 10 inches hold on I've kind of worked it nicely that's that's the center point of rotation so let's make that at that point Marge it doesn't let us do that it could be because of this tangents let's just delete that for a sec let's make that point at that point merge and this goes black so something wrong with those dimensions I wonder is it this dimension here and I'm going you wouldn't have dimensions like this it's a little bit maybe they would you know was to me this is kind of confusing I'm going to make this the origin now and we'll work from there okay we move all of this up so I'll go move entities and highlight olives and I'm going to go from this point over and let's make this point on that point coincidence okay let's make slowed down let's make this line ten inches from there because it should be now why should it be because it's zero degrees is completely flush and it's a ten inch radius from that point there okay let's push let's click on this edge and see where its center is right there let's put a dimension of ten oddish I know that looks a little bit better now okay two point five one point five and what's the distance 7.75 I've definitely made this origin it works it much easier seven point seven five seven point seven five and it all goes black and that works so my initial calculations are wrong I just messed up varnish let's delete that one point six nine and get a proper dimension and there it's five point two five 5.25 and that also changes that I'm also really screwed up those dimensions okay that's this not too bad so this is where you wanna put the origin and everything else should be there and what do we need to do let's and then we have a 45 degree so that could have even worked - let's extruders 0.375 so we go exit sketch features click on the sketch and we go mid plan 0.375 and I'll go okay and let's do the first thing is let's do this curve sloth all right point three days as the size of the sloth I got that and then it looks like from one edge is three degrees all the way down to 52 degrees from edge to edge so three degrees to 52 let's create a sketch on here like we've done let's get a centerline that's zero degrees that's going to be the 52 and that's going to be the three degrees so watch this so from there to there we make that three and from there to there we make up 52 the main trick of this problem really it's trying to train to pull information from this drawing it's not it's not a bad it's a pretty good drawing actually but and so but that's the main triggers three degrees I comes all the way down to 52 and we got - now what's the radius is the radius is nine point one eight eight okay so let's get a circle watch this new nine point one eight is x - alright eighteen point three years and I want to do is I'm going to offset what is it point three days in the other direction is that point three days yes it is and we got that I will need a circle here now watch this I'll make it tangent at us I'll make a tangent tell us I'll make a tangent to that line and it goes black and do the same down here this is why we spend a lot of time doing the sketches tangent tangent on come from the other side okay so let's flip this around click on the face go features the whole wizard now there are roughly there and there so we need counterbore show custom sizing so let's have a look at counter bars point three one three note that's wrong point three one three is here the true hole size is point one seven one and the counterbore depth is point one six four eight one six four all right it goes through all and the positions are roughly there are there now what's the distance from the origin of course point four four point three one three four point three or three and then what's your the 17.5 six three 7.56 three I'm a used to vertical and the distance from it's 2.82 there and that two point five so it's point three from there to there so like so not see the gold black and I'm good okay so it's a counterbore from the other direction the fire side they call it okay now what's the next we have this little slot in there and then three holes and then we're laughing since you straw dish this slot and it should take two seconds so we know we're on the right face just just on a side note this is a kind of a very typical some sort of an engineering type bracket now you know it's very obvious that the drawing is very specific about angles and certain positions this is the type of part I'm guessing you do not want to screw up with it needs to be machined exactly the way it was designed or part holes are gonna lay no bar it's not going to do its job that's expected to do so this is an example where we would need to be very very precise in what we're doing we need to make sure the slot is in the right face and the holes in the right location so let's go back let's get the circle and let's get our quadrants like salt now what's the distance it looks like it's point three eight it's a half an inch up point three years and it's a half an inch from there to there okay let's go back and it's nine it's nine inches from the origin over to that line there's nine inch of snow let's see if we can get that nine minus two point five will work as well so this is if that's a nine from there to there and that's two point five from there to there from there to there is nine minus two point five 9 minus 2.5 that's this so let's trim this bit of it away and what's the depth the depth is 0.1 note this is not clear point one two five will have to go it that's what it looks like Oh point one two five calls okay that's not alright next thing are the holes on that face so I click on the face this is amazing easy one for a change hole wizard spacebar and we look at normal 2.1 under put in I can even put in a central line yet what do you want we want a threaded hole and we want not unsymmetric we want ansi inch we want a quarter twenty now what it is the depth the depth is going to be point five inches deep so it looks like if we need which we want half an inch thread we're going to have to have at least 3/4 inch of a drill so let me let's go back and look so the blade hole is only point seven five and the thread is going to be half an inch so let's just put those positions in kind of quickly so it lines up with the origin put one there one there and one there and it's 3.55 from that is alright 3.55 and origin or is it from the edge let's have a look from that edge there three point five five so we gotta get that right three point five five all right the next one six point six seven five six point six seven five six one six seven five and then what's the next one nine point eight all right let's go okay and then that's it aarush let's see those hard work um is that everything it looks like it may be the last thing is a little red which is not telling us a little radius okay it said 18 times there 2.5 to 80 times what 1818 measurements a 2.5 that makes sense what but not so clear okay and that's it that's the drawing let's save it lesson 7 part number 3 okay let's go right click plain carbon steel that saves and let's and let's do it again and typically section views are you know they're very straightforward this is a little bit complicated what the person is doing here about it he needs to show he needs to show the near side in the far side and show look don't put the countersinks the wrong way around and and it's a nice little detailed view as well so okay how do we do this I think it might be about it okay let's do it again section view and I hope this is a little that's a vertical section view a horizontal an axillary this means it's angled this this looks like this is a good place to start and this is kind of nice because let me let me lock it to that point right there like so and then we just we put it in anywhere any other angle at all and I'll go okay I'm just going to move that view over here let's delete that dimension for a sec let's right-click on this line and go edit sketch and I'm going to just put a dimension in from there to there let's make it 45 very nice 45 degrees and then I'm going to grab I don't need to take a full quarter that object I can just I can grab that point and move it over just do the best you can with that section view that that is kind of tricky and then once I have it in place I'm going to delete it and you know I don't like you know I like things fully defined but this is just where just placing section view okay so Bibi it looks very similar to a a it works and let's let's right-click on that and go alignment break alignment so now we can move us and then I'm going to right-click on it again and go alignment align vertical by E I want to I want to flip this round 90 degrees and also lied like to make it bigger to be quite honest and can I change the scale I'll make it one to one I'm going to make this these use bigger so let's leave that is one-to-one now how do I rotate this view I can right click and go alignment align vertical by origin the two views it it doesn't make break and this from there I can click on that and hit this rotation oh yeah look at that 45 degrees that is beautiful okay I know I'm I'm probably blowing the heads off you're probably hats pretty mountainous at this stage and let's make this view a little bit bigger let's make a one-to-one now do I like how that how do I like how that's there and I'd like that to be a curve but not so much a full circle and this is a little bit big dough as well let's make it named let's make it a tiny bit smaller one is to one let's try one is to 1.25 there you go one is to one one and a quarter let's just make it a bit smaller now if I delete that what's going to need that centerline in whether you like it or not okay um it's very big centerline center mark now can i oh that's okay let's just move him up there like so can I move this over that end point that's probably I don't know I don't know any other way we can do this and we need that mark in there to reference this now and you didn't even use a bigger sheet because I want to somebody get this view down below that it's not getting in the way and okay we'll have to make this a bit smaller like so not not really ideal and you'd really have to use a bigger sheet for something like this and then what we lose in to start putting in the dimensions okay and we need some sort of a sketch here our three-point curve okay so this is the center point no now do the wrong one that's the center point that's one line now why isn't that lining up there we go okay so we have that and then we put a dimension on that curve this is kind of a tricky problem I hope I'm helping you out instead of confusing you red is nine point six I don't want you to dimension using disorder dimensions you can if you want if you know what you're doing I'd rather you just use normal dimensioning methods okay so I think you should be dangerous and often I look I'm spending a few more minutes to mention if I'm just a happy out let's turn this on I guess two hidden lines gold here / we don't want hidden lines in this view so I turned those off we just we just want that to be section view I'll double click on the hutch and I'll change the scale of it and that helps we don't want this we just leave this as being hidden laser moved and okay what else do we have can I spot a smart to mention it from there to there yeah let's pack these dimensions in a bit more okay we have that from there to there is what 10.4 just keep going you're going to have to put a lot of dimensions on this to make it work and I'll show you this in class I'll go through it and what's next I'm going to do you're just you're just going it this way for a reason and pretty pretty tricky center line is right oh look at that lovely nice is centrally in there from the slot one edge to go the Reg I'm pretty sure that their dimension in that edge nine point one eight is okay and hold columns very nice instead of clicking on the center circle I got the the the what is it called the countersink hole I got dr. mention there so there it is point one five six through the outer diameter is point two five with a 60-degree countersink so we got that and we need Center lines so there's one now let's lock this in can we lock that in there oh you bastard to make a concentric eye lovely lovely my god of there em and I'll do the same here so I click this point I click the edge I click this circular edge and I go concentric and it locks it in I know I can go from there to there let's make - can we that's the central isn't it and I need another centerline call from there to there and now I can put a dimension from there nope and won't let me do it's just having a hard time referencing and those those central lines I don't know why it is em it lets you do one at a time though that's a pain whatever angles and we need angles seocheon go I'm after being given you enough there to be de Andres if you can even get this far and really understand what's going on you're doing well and I go through it a bit with a bit more class let's put that whole let's get that whole call of gone so I'm going to click on the hidden lines that'll be the last thing I'll do for you come on no that's not really it's a quarter twenty this isn't good enough am point 201 three-quarters what we need to do is come in here to this dimension text and say look what you want to change that the annotation I'm going to go yes and I'm going to go and 1/4 20 tops hole 0.5 tread depth okay and then we'll go x 3 places and then you got that you can add some dimensions in for that slot so we'll go from that laying there and hold down the shift key to that maximum point come on now let's try it again Japan leave the way it is okay been of a bit of a beast of a problem alright and let's get rid of these dimensions here the main the man was trying to figure out these order dimensions it'd be nice if you get those angles in so finished get this really as close as you can okay and I'll move on to the next problem
