you we ask that your word would be opened up to us lord it's familiar the story is familiar but we ask that you would give us revelation what do we need to know about this god about your last supper about the washing of the feet lord what do we need to know would you speak to us john 13 now before the feast of the passover jesus knowing that his hour had come that he would depart out of this world to the father having loved his own who were in the world he loved them to the end lord we ask as much as we can that we would get to go inside your heart that you would take us on a journey inside of your heart knowing that the hour had come that you were leaving this world lord let us feel the atmosphere during supper the devil having already put into the heart of judas iscariot the son of simon to betray him the devil having already put into the heart of judas iscariot the son of simon to betray him lord i ask for revelation in the spirit realm that there really are demons there really are devils they really can put things into the heart of men that you created lord how can this be give us revelation jesus knowing that the father had given all things into his hands and that he had come forth from god and was going back to god [Music] and father you gave all things into the hand of your son jesus you came forth from your father and you were going back to him [Music] lord the thoughts you must have been having knowing what you were about to suffer but knowing also that you are about to be reunited in heaven with your father [Music] that the plan of the ages was about to happen jesus how are you feeling at this supper verse 4 [Music] he got up from supper and laid aside his garments and taking a towel [Music] he girded himself [Music] lord i love this side of you this servant [Music] lord that you laid aside your garments and took up a towel [Music] oh lord we love your presence god thank you for your presence here thank you god thank you for this holy word of yours and how it just releases your presence lord even looking into your heart it releases your presence in this room [Music] so [Music] then he poured water into the basin and began to wash lord we love your presence god thank you lord thank you for your presence you who served and washed their feet lord you're here even now just to wash our feet lord you're laying aside your garments and you're girding the towel and you're in this room right now lord and we allow you to come and to wash our feet then he poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded [Music] jesus you're so so good you're so so kind lord let us see you let us know you lord i want to see you washing their feet actually washing their feet lord what kind of a god are you what kind of a king are you what kind of a friend are you to us [Music] so he came to simon peter he said to him lord do you wash my feet god i ask that you would show us any place in us where we have this attitude like peter that we wouldn't allow you to serve us lord it's so humbling and so unbelievably unbelievably humbling that you would want to serve us you came to serve jesus answered and said to him what i do you do not realize now but you will understand hereafter lord so many times you could say that to us what you're doing we don't understand but we will understand later lord give us the grace to hear these words from you different times in our life we need to hear this what i do you do not realize now but you will understand hereafter lord what peace and what security in that it's okay if we don't understand in the moment it's really really okay lord let that peace settle on us [Music] peter said to him never shall you wash my feet jesus answered him if i do not wash you you have no part with me [Music] simon peter said to him lord then wash not only my feet but also my hands and my head jesus said to him he who has bathed needs only to wash his feet but is completely clean and you are clean but not all of you [Music] for he knew the one who was betraying him for this reason he said not all of you are clean so when he had washed their feet and taken his garments and reclined at the table again he said to them do you know what i have done to you [Music] lord we can hear you say that to us do you know what i have done to you do you know what i have done for you lord we're grateful we're so so grateful to you you call me teacher and lord and you are right for so i am if then the lord and the teacher washed your feet you also ought to wash one another's feet [Music] for i gave you an example that you also should do as i did to you [Music] help us god [Music] help us lord what does it look like what does it look like lord [Music] truly truly i say to you a slave is not greater than his master nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him if you knew these things you are blessed if you do them if you know these things you are blessed if you do them lord take us from the place of knowing to living them out let us not just read your word and turn away like a man who sees his face in the mirror and forgets what he looks like lord we want to look deeply into your word and we want to be changed and transformed and we want to be like you god we want to do what you say i do not speak of all of you i know the ones i have chosen but it is that the scripture may be fulfilled he who eats my bread has lifted up his heel against me [Music] from now on i am telling you before it comes to pass so that when it does occur you may believe that i am he [Music] truly truly i say to you the one who receives whomever i send receives me and he who receives me receives him who sent me there's so much in that god so much and that truly truly i say to you the one who receives whomever i send receives me [Music] lord do we believe that do i believe that god i ask you to search my heart i ask you to blow through the caverns of my soul and see if that's true with me [Music] so lord we take these first 20 verses of john 13 and we we offer them up to you as a song lord as we go through this story line by line and sing it back to you we thank you that you're in this room and that you're releasing revelation john 13 1 [Music] now before the feast of the passover jesus knowing that his hour had come that he would depart out of this world to the father having loved his own who were in the world he loved them to the end jesus knowing that his hour had come going back to the father you loved your own well god [Music] and even though we're here right now would you pick us up [Music] so we would know your heart [Music] there you [Music] were you were [Music] with your disciples there you were [Music] there you were knowing what was coming [Music] there you were knowing all things were yours there you were [Music] ready to reveal your heart [Music] the things you long to show your heart [Music] the deep things about you there you were [Music] during supper the devil having already put into the heart of judas iscariot the son of simon to betray him jesus knowing that the father had given all things into his hands and that he had come forth from god and was going back to god jesus knowing that the father had given all things into his hands and that he had come from god and was going back to god got up from supper and laid aside his garments and taking a towel he girded himself thank you jesus showing the full extent of your love [Music] loving [Music] was not enough you had [Music] it's who you are [Music] chose [Music] [Music] and you washed our feet [Music] down on the ground and you washed our feet [Music] oh to be there if you were about to go to your father's side [Music] trusting that surely you have a better way but jesus do you really have to go we trust there's a better way you have something in mind we don't yet know cause everything you do is always through love everything you've done is always for love [Music] and you never pass up an opportunity to teach those you love how to love and how to serve even though you were about to give your own life up you taught your disciples about love [Music] got up from supper laid aside his garments and taking a towel he girded himself then he poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded lord i can't even imagine how that must have been these guys knew who you were they watched you raised the dead and healed the blind and the lame and the death and so many things you did that weren't even recorded because the world wouldn't be able to contain the books how much did these men see [Music] you doing all these things and now washing their feet and wiping their feet with a towel [Music] then poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded [Music] and this reminds me of the sinful woman married when they washed your feet they did out of devotion but god you did this out of servanthood they did it out of devotion but you are the servant of all [Music] you don't understand what i'm doing now but [Music] you don't understand what i'm doing now but later you will understand i am who i say i [Music] am your lord [Music] among you would be the least of all i don't tell you to do something i don't do now that i have done this now that i have done this [Music] what will be your response [Music] in heaven and everything on earth [Music] i know where i come from i know where i'm going [Music] and so from this place [Music] i wash your feet [Music] i wash your feet [Music] so he came to simon peter he said to him lord do you wash my feet jesus answered and said to him what i do you do not realize now but you will understand hereafter lord do you wash my feet lord i love this that it's even it's okay to ask you questions it's okay to ask you and you say to him what i do you do not realize now but you will understand hereafter and peter said to him never shall you wash my feet [Music] peter so bold and so still full of himself seemed like a good thing to say never shall you wash my feet but he didn't get it and jesus answered him if i do not wash you you have no part with me what i do you don't realize now but you will understand if i do not wash you you have no heart with me [Music] and just like they didn't understand mary's extravagant worship they didn't understand the servanthood of jesus washing their feet [Music] they couldn't comprehend but later they would but later they would know his love [Music] but later they would know his love just like us but later they would know his love by washing their feet by washing their feet [Music] i'm not like the worldly kings and the worldly leaders [Music] i work in a different way see how my work is according to my father and his kingdom [Music] actually you just love and you go low [Music] for the ones you love [Music] even now he's asking will you let me wash your feet even now he's asking will you let him wash your feet [Music] jesus come and wash our feet [Music] jesus come and wash your feet [Music] on feet [Music] and you wash our feet [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what kind of king is [Music] the oh [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] down on the ground [Music] [Music] peter i relate to peter [Music] not knowing what you're doing lord not understanding your ways saying lord if you wash my feet wash my head my body too cause i didn't understand [Music] the things we pick up along the way and i walk with you the things that don't belong thank you that we don't have to get saved over and over and over again [Music] but you're there you're there to wash our feet [Music] to wash our feet lord i wanna understand your ways [Music] if i do not wash you you have no part with me simon peter said to him lord then wash not only my feet but also my hands and my head and jesus said to him he who has bathed needs only to wash his feet but is completely clean and you are clean but not all of you here as bathe needs only to wash his feet but is completely clean and you are clean but not all of you for he knew the one who was betraying him for this reason he said not all of you are clean and lord we can hear you say to us you are clean but let me wash your feet you are clean you don't need your hands and your head washed but let me wash your feet let me wash your feet he who has bathed lord we're bathing even in this moment being washed by the water of your word i feel your washing just washing over us come and wash over us and wash our feet yes [Music] jesus said to him he who has bathed needs only to wash his feet give us revelation give us revelation in this second in our life give us revelation what does that mean to us god but it's completely clean lord i love that you say i'm completely clean but let me wash your feet [Music] i wanna know how i stand in your presence as washed as clean as renewed and i wanna part [Music] wash my feet [Music] wash my feet [Music] extravagance of grace i know if i abide in your love [Music] sometimes it feels easier to wash your sometimes it feels easier just to give you [Music] [Applause] [Music] and you everything give to me [Music] and like first king of all kings [Music] [Music] my [Music] [Music] if you love me [Music] i [Music] [Music] [Music] i wanna [Music] for he knew the one who was betraying him for this reason he said not all of you are clean so when he had washed their feet and taken his garments and reclined at the table again he said to them lord i want to see you you washed all over their feet you touched their feet you felt the bones in their feet you wiped their feet with a towel you went one by one how holy what a holy holy time and then you take your garments and recline at the table again and said to them do you know what i have done to you [Music] do you know what i have done to you you call me teacher and lord and you are right for so i am if i then the lord and the teacher washed your feet you also ought to wash one another's feet for i gave you an example that you also should do as i did to you do you know what i have done to you lord we don't know i don't know fully what you have done to me what you've done for me but i want to know more than anything god i want to know do you know what i've done to you [Music] [Music] still [Music] [Applause] his feet [Music] he knew what he was going to do and he still washed his feet he did the humble thing i wonder what judas was thinking because it said the devil had already him yet this man was washing his feet [Music] yet this [Music] and i can't even push out a smile he calls us to wash each other's [Music] what kind of feet is this [Music] so different than our love [Music] he didn't tell us to do something that you didn't do you lit by example [Music] you didn't tell us to do something that you didn't do when you said love your enemies [Music] oh god [Music] that you would offer peace [Music] lord i don't understand but you said one day you will understand [Music] [Music] on the ground [Music] if you are what kind of love is this [Music] [Music] oh is [Music] on the ground [Music] [Music] from heaven you came helpless entered our world your glory failed not to be served but to serve [Music] and give your life that we might live is a god the servant king [Music] he calls us now to fall him [Music] to bring our lives [Music] of as to the service [Music] he chose to bear his heart was sorrow was torn [Music] this is our god the servant king he calls us [Music] is [Music] come see his hands and his feet [Music] stars into space to crawl nails surrendered this is our god the servant king he calls us [Music] the servant king so let us learn how to serve and in our lives [Music] we [Music] he calls us [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] surrender is [Music] sure foreign [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] oh i surrender [Music] truly truly i say to you he who receives whomever i send receives me and he who receives me receives him who sent me john 13 21 when jesus had said this he became troubled in spirit and testified and said truly truly i say to you that one of you will betray me lord what does it look like for you the son of god the son of man to become troubled in spirit the disciples began looking at one another at a loss to know of which one he was speaking there was reclining on jesus bosom one of his disciples whom jesus loved so simon peter gestured to him and said to him tell us who it is of whom he is speaking lord i can just see this john and peter john leaning against you and peter knowing the intimacy he shared with you hey ask him who it is that he's speaking of so he leaning back on his jesus bosom said to him lord who is it and jesus then answered that is the one for whom i shall dip the morsel and give it to him so when he had dipped the morsel he took and gave it to judas the son of simon iscariot after the morsel satan then entered into him therefore jesus said to him what you do do quickly lord it's horrible that at this holy holy dinner and foot washing that satan was there that he was allowed in that place and then he entered into this man i wonder if the other disciples felt this presence of evil were they so enraptured with you or did they feel that evil the very epitome of evil had entered into the room and entered into their friend therefore jesus said to him what you do do quickly now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose he had said this to him for some were supposing because jesus judas had the money box that jesus was saying to him by the things we have needed for the feast or else that he should give something to the poor and god this just always makes me think of our thoughts so focused on this earth when you tell us to look up set your mind on things above lord give us discernment in this hour that we will discern the spirit that we won't go by what we know or what we suppose but will go by your spirit so after receiving the morsel he went out immediately and it was night therefore when he had gone out jesus said now is the son of man glorified and god is glorified in him if god is glorified in him god will also glorify him in himself and will glory him and glorify him immediately lord your words are mysterious and deep what were they thinking how were these men responding to these words glorifying the father you washed their feet you said your hour had come and then you say such an intimate term little children i am with you a little while longer you will seek me and as i said to the jews now i also say to you where i am going you cannot come lord the power of those words must have hit them in the chest it must have hit so hard where i am going you cannot come a new commandment i give to you that you love one another even as i have loved you that you also love one another by this all men will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another by this all men will know if you have love for one another simon peter said to him lord where are you going seems such a natural question for such a depth of spiritualness lord where are you going seems almost casual where are you going jesus answered where i go you cannot follow me now but you will follow later thank you jesus where i go you can't follow me now but you will follow me later you will follow me later peter said to him lord why can i not follow you right now i will lay down my life for you why can't i go now i want to go with you now why can't i go now i'll lay down my life for you and jesus answered will you will you lay down your life for me [Music] truly truly i say to you a rooster will not crow until you deny me three times oh lord [Music] truly truly i say to you a rooster will not crow until you deny me three times not just once not just twice but three times peter peter never will you wash my feet why can't i go now i'll follow you to death will you so lord we go back and sing these words to you going back to the supper when you were just talking to them in verse 21 when jesus had said this he became troubled in spirit and testified and said truly truly i say to you that one of you will betray me the disciples begin looking at one another at a loss to know of which one he was speaking there was reclining on jesus bosom not follow you right now i will lay down my life for you jesus answered will you lay down your life for me will you truly truly i say to you a rooster will not crow until you deny me three times
