is so smoggy yeah this is nothing wait till we get to california all right so we just departed phoenix and as you can see pilot katie is uh running things today we are uh let's see fifteen thousand feet climbing sixteen thousand we just got our clearance we're headed to lake tahoe today to uh pick up a gentleman who's got a cardiac condition and uh due to covet and all that sort of stuff can't fly a commercial or was advised not to fly commercial so kitty and i are gonna go get he and his uh doctor and bring them back to phoenix uh for some treatment here uh so anyway katie's running the left seat today and she's at 15.3 and gonna level off at 16 000 right katie level off at fifteen nine ninety nine oh there you go so anyway the i think the notable thing about today's flight um other than miss katy joining us is uh all the fires that uh have been happening along the left hand side of our country and all the smoke associated with it yeah as i look at the metars in california all the way up through oregon and washington it's ifr marginal vfr uh because of the smoke and the fires what not there so anyway uh that will be interesting all right katie is level at 16 000 feet nice job there yeah just follow that flight director it'll it'll guide you does it guide the alts too yep watch it see how it's sinking yeah there you go nice job all right so now we're at 147 indicated so pull the power back slowly to about 28 and a half inches [Music] and watch that nose is going to want to come up on you the bruiser one runway 18 accessories all right autopilot set let go and about the clearance or for the clearance from phoenix so we said forget it we're just gonna depart vfr and pick it up in the air which we did and it worked out great because we are direct to baby right now and yeah they were gonna take us out over buckeye uh the buckeye vor and yeah we had two or three more points but now it looks like uh pretty much uh baity there keep us clear of the restricted airspace and then uh yeah we may have to manage some tfrs there so it looks like that tfr is surface to 12 000 feet so we're going to have to be mindful of that but yeah you can see all of the tfrs in california because of the fires it's crazy wow number four four four delta tango quarter except baby and the prescott about three zero two five three zero two five and direct baby malibu poor delta tango reporting for romeo direct baby make sure it says baby and it does hit activate okay now put it in gps mode hit that and the plane should turn left and what was the altimeter three zero two five okay barrow which is right there oh there we go three zero two five yep now see there was such a difference in the barometric pressure that we're actually high yeah so what we're going to do is we're going to rearm 16 000 and just kind of work our way back down as you can see i think the nose camera shows a real good giant view of it this is all smoke related to the fires ravaging california and actually oregon and i think parts of washington as well so how's your fuel balance 40 and 40. good good remember 1523 well it would be 80. oh yes i i was just looking at that and just winging it though you should ask me to do math for you more often when i when i do math in private it it always you know makes well it always makes sense to me but when i do it in private it makes sense to like it would technically be right you know but then when i do it with you or in public for some reason it just isn't right uh yes sir looks like we're going to need an approach to get into tahoe here i'd like to put the yard and have the runway one eight on request therefore four or four just tango right you have your request say you have your request yes he has a report all right so watch this katie we're going to load a procedure and approach and we're going to take it our nav to 1 8 and transition is huijo load approach and activate and now we should go direct to huijo we should make a little right-hand turn and that hui joe i think is gonna uh keep us clear of the tfr and it will that's good raider five one deviations left of course approved win able clear direct hat and that's crazy i've never had this experience yeah so we are completely engulfed in smoke here and center vision at eight under five trillion kilo checking in level two somehow so uh the smoke is as you can see very and now you can turn your vertical speed turn that counterclockwise and you see the negative so just we want to descend at negative 600 feet a minute or descend at 600 feet a minute right actually we'll go at seven four four four delta tango contact north car approach 100.2 119.2 port delta number three kilo sierra you're four miles direction seven miles from woodpeck across woodpaw at or above one two thousand and you're cleared the ornament two zero approach at truckee crosswood and cleared rnav's gps runway 2-0 into truckee three kilo zero never sure before delta tango north cal approach is everything's looking good their temperatures are good get that approach we're at 12 000 feet 6 000 for now direct huey joe for the rnav approach gps approach to runway one direction arrival is that accurate and uh now we're looking and our box doesn't have the approach we needed so we need the localizer x-ray one six right air pacific 709 or roger well in that case that's a base turn for runway one six right my apology center passed some bad information no that we uh requested that one but it wasn't in our box no yeah problem 42 uh last arrival reported three miles uh they picked up the fields contact reno tower at one one eight point seven have a good day youtube celebrate 42. now number four delta tango you're five miles from suzhou cross dojo at one two thousand and track the approach inbounds for now uh hujo at one two thousand and track inbound for four del tango okay so we're not cleared for the approach but we can track it inbound so if we have to fly the missed approach it's a climbing right turn to ten thousand feet and direct to this after point now remember ford elba tango at hujo you're cleared the rns runway one eight approach at south lake tahoe clearing for the r knives at hugo for melbourne four delta tango all right so we're here for the approach once we pass hugo we can descend it down to 11 000 feet vertical track and there we go arm engage so now we're on our way down to 11 thousand feet uh approach american 2360 american 2360 north carolina we're not going to be able to take any extended vectors uh to get into reno if that's the case we'll have to go to sacramento now american 2360 we'll get you in now turn left heading 2-5-0 left turn 2-5-0 america 23-16 here pacific 7-0 turn the left heading of about 1-9 or zero and join the localizer inbound maintain one zero right katie you ready for your zero first instrument approach uh number four and delta tango change to the advisory frequency is approved again you can either cancel airborne this frequency on the ground one tree four point three with the center um as soon as possible i got one waiting that awakens for truckee ford delta tango we'll give you call soon as we coming up on the approach so we're going to pull the power back to approach speed or approach setting i should say and i should be letting you do this so as soon as we make the turn at obavi then we'll be able to descend down to 9 300 feet and so we will wait until that flips there we go 9 300 and so we're gonna do that and that arm engage and keep the speed going down to 93. okay okay so jesse is the final approach fix and we're oriented with the final approach course now so i'm going to put it in approach mode there we go approach mode is armed barely see the ground can you see it at all okay um minimums here is 66.80 so hit that minimums barrow altitude six six eight zero enter okay so now that will call out minimums for us and did it save it yeah 66.80 it's dialed in there okay next one is 8340. what's this number once we've crossed jesse that should go to 83.40 that's that's our altitude okay so we have okay we've picked up the glide slope and there's jazzy gears coming
