SMALL SPACE ORGANIZATION ON A BUDGET 2022 / RENTER FRIENDLY KITCHEN ORGANIZATION HACKS & IDEAS

[Music] my family of four and I live in a 1 000 square foot home and it can be tough sometimes to organize efficiently and maximize the space that we have to work with I've shared countless hours of small space organization ideas and tips here on my channel and every once in a while I like to compile a bunch of my recent videos together to create the ultimate organization Marathon if super long through the process of organizing our newly renovated kitchen and sharing my ideas for a more organized space everything purchased in this video came from Amazon and it will all be linked in my description box below if you missed my last video we dealt with Pantry organization junk drawer pots and pans Etc so if you missed that video I will have that linked down below as well my family of four lives in a 1 000 square foot home so it can feel pretty cramped here and I'm always working to organize things better and maximize the space that we have to work with if you need help organizing or you just enjoy these videos be sure to subscribe to my channel and come back every week for a new one foreign [Music] we're going to start off organizing under my kitchen sink and this is a super satisfying transformation so of course here are the befores everything is disheveled and it's honestly hard to see what I have or access anything that I need when organizing a space like this I would always recommend removing all of the items so you can see the space that you have to work with and do some decluttering as well when you're working with a small space less is more so getting rid of some items is usually always necessary and it just feels good to get rid of some of the Clutter I also recommend doing your homework beforehand by that I mean take some measurements plan what you want the outcome to look like and do your research on the items that you're choosing to be sure that they will fit in your space and work the way that you want them to shoot [Music] I'm going to lay everything out now under my sink to see how it all fits and if all of my pre-planning worked out sometimes it does and honestly sometimes it doesn't but in this case the newer items that I picked could not have fit my space better [Music] I like these acrylic stackable drawers a lot because they utilize vertical space really well they have a ton of size options on Amazon so again just make sure that you take your measurements I have these in my bathroom vanity as well and they've worked out great in there so I knew these would be the perfect addition under my sink [Music] and there's nothing I can do this turntable comes from the brand new copia and I have used their products in the past in some of my videos and I'm a big fan so if you're looking for a good organization brand new copia is up there as well as Joseph Joseph [Music] I am guilty of having just a ton of different sprays and I do want to declutter my collection but I also don't want to be wasteful so I am putting most of them back in under my sink but I'm hoping that over time I can kind of go through them use them up and then I can really minimize my collection of sprays because honestly you only need a few I really believe that especially in the kitchen all you really need is a multi-purpose cleaner maybe an oven cleaner and a glass cleaner and anything more than that is just a little bit excessive some say life is boring but I disagree these drawers don't come with any sort of gripping so I would definitely recommend that you put something down underneath them just to make sure that they don't slip and slide around under your sink and they stay exactly where you want them to be [Music] now we're going to finish filling up these drawers so I ended up using one for dishwasher pods if you have kids of course use caution it's always best to keep a lock on this cabinet so they can't access this stuff but I was storing my pods in a glass jar before and replacing that with these drawers help to eliminate a big bulky item and save me space for other things one of my favorite ways to maximize space is by utilizing the inside of cabinet doors now if you've seen my old organization videos I did the same thing using command strips and a magazine holder but they actually make these now for this purpose so that's really cool and they certainly feel much sturdier than the way that I did it they carry a bunch of different sizes in this as well so whatever it is that you want to store in them there should be one that will fit and that will work for you foreign [Music] this one is by a different brand this is by m design I am also a fan of that brand so again if you're looking for organization products M design usually has some really good ones but again this is a bigger one so you can store some bigger items in here but as you can see I am closing the cabinet completely and it is not interfering with anything so this is just awesome for utilizing space that otherwise would go to waste you could use it for things like your aluminum foil or Ziploc bags or things like that or in my case what I chose to use it for was items that I don't like to store right on my countertop just because I don't like clutter on the counter so I put my dish soap I put a brush my all-purpose spray and I also put some reusable paper towels I'm a big fan of these these ones came from Grove collaborative not from Amazon but I will link them down below as well in case you're interested and now of course we're going to pull out my Cricut Joy so that we can go ahead and make some labels for it under my sink this is a completely unnecessary step if you don't want to do it but I just wanted everything to look pretty honestly so that's why I made these labels and the Cricut Joy app makes it so simple and quick to just pump out some labels I chose to do writable vinyl because those are especially quick and easy I don't need to worry about transfer tape they literally just peel and stick right on and they are easy to remove if you ever need to change them out they're a lot easier than putting the individual vinyl letters so I'm a big fan of the writable vinyl and they also ended up looking super pretty foreign [Music] linked down below as well in my Amazon storefront this is seriously my best friend when it comes to organization and once you have one it's kind of one of those things you wonder how you ever lived without it and it is like I said a little bit of an extra step but I personally think that it's worth it and it just kind of UPS your organization game that much [Music] foreign [Music] now here is a quick reminder of how my sink was looking before we organized underneath it and here is the after it's looking so much better and everything seriously worked out perfectly I am so happy with how this turned out foreign [Music] now we're going to move on to organizing this drawer right here which is kind of housing a bunch of random things that I like to have easily accessible when I'm cooking so we're going to of course start by removing every single thing from the drawer and I found the coolest organizer on Amazon and I'm so excited to show you guys [Music] so this space Aid bamboo drawer divider system is awesome because it's completely customizable so you lay your drawer dividers out they expand to fit in the drawer that you need them for and then they come with inserts so you can further kind of compartmentalize all of your items and you can make them fit exactly perfect the way that you want them so while the majority of the items in this drawer are going back into the drawer they're not going to be slipping and sliding around and ending up looking completely disheveled it will always look organized because everything has a space this can take a little bit of playing around it's kind of like a puzzle but once you get everything where you want it to be it just looks so much better and I'm really really happy with this organization system [Music] I wanted to mention here that I chose a lot of bamboo products on Amazon to do my organization but you don't have to use those those are more pricey the only reason why I picked those is because we are planning to stay in this house for quite a bit not forever but a while and I wanted everything to look a little bit more permanent but I have done a ton of different kitchen organization videos in the past so there's actually two different sections on my Amazon storefront that you can shop there's kitchen organization 2022 and then there's one that just says kitchen organization so if you look under those there's so many different options and you are not limited to buying the bamboo because again like I said it's a little bit more pricey so if you're trying to save money then definitely go like the plastic route because you can find a lot of options that are much cheaper and again I have a variety of different things on my storefront that I've used in past videos so be sure to look all over there to try and find what works for you no not only for your space but also for your budget [Music] here is how this drawer is looking after again it's pretty much all the same items it just makes a lot more sense and everything has a space [Music] [Music] now we're going to work on organizing things like aluminum foil and plastic wrap in sandwich bags and I I'm sure this is old news to a lot of you but I saw these recently and I could not get over it I think it's the coolest thing ever and that is this bamboo foil and plastic wrap organizer that cuts everything for you not only does this eliminate packaging and just make everything look a lot more uniform and pretty if I'm being honest but it also makes in particular getting your plastic wrap so much easier because I don't know about you guys but it's such a struggle when I try to do it out of straight out of the packaging I feel like it just gets all caught up on itself and it ends up just a whole mess and it takes me so much extra product in order to get enough to wrap up whatever it is I'm trying to wrap up and it's frustrating but when you put it in this little organizer here it comes out so much easier and you can just cut it and it it's not a mess and I don't know I'm rambling but it's been wonderful so I would 10 out of 10 recommend this [Music] they have one for single-use plastic bags as well and it's all labeled and just so so good I love it but I ended up moving both of them into the drawer behind this one because I had a different idea for the drawer that I was working on which you will see in a minute but I wanted to throw in this disclaimer here because I always get a comment about single-use plastic whenever I show them for a while I did switch over to just reusable Ziploc bags but my son is in kindergarten and they were not making it home every single day and I'm pretty sure he was throwing them away he says he doesn't know what happened to them but it just wasn't working out and it was costing me a lot of money so we did have to go back to single-use plastic bags specifically for him in school cause I find my way now we're going to work on organizing all of my Cutlery so I decided to move all of this into a different drawer which is the one that we were just working on that had the wax and foil and all of that in it and I got this expandable bamboo organizer on Amazon that fits perfectly in here and really helps to sort everything they have a ton of different sizes of expandable Cutlery organizers on Amazon and they have a whole bunch of different price points so whatever it is that you're working with I'm sure that you can find something that will work for you but like I said I am making the switch to a lot of bamboo in my kitchen because it just looks a little bit more permanent and it feels a little bit more sturdy than the plastic but I have used a ton of different plastic Cutlery organizers in the past and again those are in my Amazon storefront as well outside my window is everything pal and cold I seems to pick up my phone it's been ringing all day long Behind these clothes [Music] [Music] I'm too tired asleep too tired to do anything else I wanted a bigger drawer to store all of my kitchen towels and cleaning cloths in and again I wanted to keep them divided out so I am using the adjustable drawer dividers again but I did not find a good way to put the inserts into this drawer yet this is still a work in progress but generally this is kind of what I'm going for I want to have one section just for the kitchen towels one section for my microfiber cloths and then also a section just for my e-cloths in particular I've never felt like I've had a good place to put these since living in this house but now that our kitchen is renovated and we have just a little bit more drawer space and a little bit more cabinet space I really wanted them in a drawer where they're easily accessible you can easily see everything that's in there and they're all nicely folded and organized and not looking like a total mess so I will continue to play around with this and figure out a good place for my inserts to go and exactly how I want all of this to look but this is a great start and this is just another example of how you can use those drawer dividers these ones in particular are as I'm filming this video they are 41 on Amazon and they come with six dividers and 12 inserts so you do get quite a bit for your money but again there are bamboo products so they're a little bit more expensive and there's definitely other options on Amazon that are less pricey I'm Blue [Music] utilizing vertical space is the best way to maximize a small space and one of the ways that I like to do that is by using shelf risers this is a four pack that I got on Amazon and these ones are my favorite shelf risers that I've tried because they're a nice natural wood and they're much more sturdy than some of the other ones that I've used I use these in my cabinets all the time I have one in my cabinet where my kids things are so I have their plates on the bottom section and then I have their bowls on the top section and this just helps you to utilize vertical space that again would otherwise be wasted when I lived in my apartment I would have needed to completely remove the cabinet door in order to move a shelf and I didn't want to be bothered with doing that and it was a lot of work so I used these a whole bunch when I lived there to divide out my cabinet space and they worked perfectly so if you're a renter this is one of my top favorite ways to organize baby I feel high this four pack comes with two larger ones and two smaller ones so you can actually stack them like this if you want to or you can just use them separately or you could put one on top of the other there's a variety of different ways that you can use them but those are all of my small kitchen organization ideas that I the dreaded junk drawer so as you guys can see I can't even open this drawer all the way and this is my junk drawer as of right now when I unpacked everything in my kitchen after the remodel I just kind of threw stuff in drawers and didn't think too hard about where they were going because I knew I was going to go through and organize everything so all of this got shoved in here and this obviously is not going to work so I'm thinking that this drawer is really big and if I keep this as my junk drawer then I'm basically inviting all of the Clutter to collect in here and it's going to end up being just out of control and this is such a good drawer I don't want to waste it all just on clutter so my plan is to completely declutter this whole drawer and somehow downsize it so that it fits into this drawer right here which currently is not being used for anything so this is a much more reasonable drawer for Junk as opposed to this gigantic one I always get this comment so I always have to preface my small kitchen videos with this disclaimer I'm not claiming to have the smallest kitchen my home is small though and I enjoy trying to find ways to Max my space and help others do the same I lived in an apartment for a year that had a pretty small kitchen and I had such a hard time organizing it which is why I started making these videos in the first place and if you check my drawer I was trying to really think about what I actually need in my kitchen I don't want to keep a bunch of random stuff little pieces to things that I don't even know what they go to things that we've just been holding on to forever but nobody ever touches I just wanted to keep the absolute Necessities I am just as guilty as everybody else when I find something in my kitchen or around my house that I don't know where to put I just toss it into the junk drawer and I don't want to do that anymore I don't want to carry around a bunch of clutter that I don't need if something doesn't have a home in my house somewhere to go somewhere to put it back then why am I keeping it that's the way that I'm trying to look at it from now on so if you have a small home I think that that is a really important way to look at things you don't want to carry around a bunch of clutter that has literally no place to go my biggest piece of advice that I can give when trying to organize a small space is just to have less the more minimal you are the easier it is to clean the easier it is to organize the easier it is to maintain an organization system live within your means and by that I mean within the space that you have to work with [Music] as I was putting things away into the junk drawer I was kind of moving and Shifting the acrylic organizers around until they worked for me changing sizes if I needed to but this actually ended up working out so perfectly and I honestly feel like this is sustainable for us that this is not going to turn into a mess I think the key for us here was downsizing to a smaller drawer and also having containers that only fit a certain category of items in them and also just remembering that you don't need to keep everything in your junk drawer keep only the things that you reach for on a regular basis and everything else should have a permanent home somewhere else in your house or maybe it should just get decluttered [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] now we're going to organize pots and pans but first I needed to move the shelf that was in this cabinet because it just was not at the height that I wanted it to be at together where you can find them but also not have them all a tangled mess is to just grab a little bin take your cords wrap them very neatly and put a rubber band around them if you want to go the extra mile then you can wrap a little piece of tape around the cord and you can put some sort of acronym or just write what the cord goes to because I know I definitely struggle with that sometimes I just cannot find the charger that goes to the item that I'm trying to charge and it's so frustrating so as I figure out what these go to I'm going to label each of them one at a time foreign just got back from home goods with the baby so I'm excited I decided kind of last minute I'm going to try and organize our pantry our new pantry is very shallow so the deepest bin I could get is 10 inches so I got all of these I was actually very surprised with their selection most of them are from this kitchen spaces line which I think is pretty affordable so these bins this set was 12.99 and then these I believe were 10 each and there's two in each set these are each five dollars and then this is uh 12.99 for two and then these ones I think were like yeah these were only four bucks each and then I got a couple turn tables I got one of these three tier spice and Pantry organizers which I may use my spices in this or in one of these I haven't decided yet this is so I'm currently using it's not working I'll show you guys in a minute I really like it it's just that it's not gonna fit in our new Pantry it's too deep but then I also of course had to get the baby something so I got in this little sweatsuit and I needed some more microfiber cloths for cleaning so I got this little Rainbow set here these seem nice I really don't go to Home Goods very often because I find a lot of like the decor to be a little bit tacky but I think they're great for home organization so if you're trying to buy stuff like this on a budget like these especially these look exactly like the home edit bins I have one I can show you guys an example so this is a home edit bin from The Container Store these are really really pricey and it looks exactly like it's like a little bit thinner these are very heavy duty but it looks exactly the same and it is way less expensive this is the current system that we've had for our spices and I think this thing is amazing it's just too deep to go into our pantry and I don't want to put it in one of our cabinets at the moment what's really cool about this is that you can pull out the drawers and then they can actually go down so you can really see everything that you have it comes with all of these labels already and there's a ton of them there's like a couple of sheets worth of labels so there's labels for every single spice that you could have it even has dividers too that it comes with you can see one right here if you want to divide out your sections and they can fit in all different configurations so this thing is awesome I love it it just isn't going to fit in our pantry so I'm going to try something else but I will link this one down below if you guys are looking for something like this because this is probably one of my favorite spice organization ideas that I've ever seen [Music] now we're of course going to work on removing all of the packaging and the labels from all of our organizers as I was saying I was really impressed with the selection that they had at Home Goods so if you are looking to do something like this I would definitely recommend that you check there there's also obviously the Dollar Tree which is really inexpensive but I will say that the quality of anything that you're going to get at the Dollar Tree is probably not going to be as good at least that's how it's been in my experience plus my Dollar Tree just never has organization stuff it's strange because I see other people using them all the time but I always seem to strike out when I go there so definitely try Home Goods if you've had a similar experience because I found that their products were relatively affordable and they were good quality and I really really like the way that this project ended up turning out foreign [Music] s laid out I'm going to start working on taking things out of the pantry typically I would take every single thing out of a space and work that way but on this day I just wasn't feeling like doing that so I just took out a little bit at a time and just took some of the stress off of myself of seeing a big huge mess and just worked little by little I also had to do this over the course of several hours because I do have an almost nine month old baby who requires a lot of attention so this project took me so much longer than it should have I worked well into the night on this as you guys will see it's going to get darker and darker and darker as we film foreign [Music] turntables for organizing if you have a small space these are perfect because you can put a variety of items in them and you can just spin them around to see what's in it as opposed to having to dig through a bunch of clutter to try and get what you need and end up messing up whatever it is that you've organized so these work anywhere they work not only in the kitchen but they also work in your bathroom or they could work in your entryway storage for things that you need to grab when you're headed out the door I have one in mind for that it's got lint rollers bug spray sunscreen things like that that you may just need to grab as you're heading out the door and you don't want to forget foreign on labeling all of these bins using my Cricut but I wanted to place them into the space first I wanted to play around with them I wanted to fill them up with what would work in each bin and really categorize everything before I did that and I think that doing it this way ended up working out great foreign [Music] I decided to keep all of the categories really General and kind of broad because I didn't want to limit what could be placed in each bin so instead of doing a bin that says rice on it I did one that just says dinner and I put all of the rice and the macaroni together and instead of doing a bin that says oats I did breakfast because then that does not limit me to just putting oats into the bin and therefore it's going to be a lot easier for us to keep up with this system I myself would be really good at keeping up with it but I like I said I have a family of four and my five-year-old is probably not going to care what it says on the bins and if he's putting something back he's just going to put it back wherever so I needed to keep it extremely simple not only for myself but also for my family [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] you guys have seen me use my Cricut time and time again and my favorite one is the Cricut Joy I like it because it's just so small and Compact and it's easy to use you can use Cricut design space with it but they also have just an app that is incredibly user friendly and quick so that's my preferred method to make labels just to keep it really quick and simple don't be like me though and definitely take your time when you are making your labels and when you're pulling off all of the excess vinyl sometimes I just move a little bit too quickly and I end up messing things up like in this case I accidentally pulled an e off of my spices and I accidentally pulled an eye off of dinner and I couldn't find it and I had to remake those so don't be like me take your time because I definitely can move a little bit too quickly sometimes but you know what I am constantly Under Pressure because I do have a little baby that is super demanding of my attention drowning in this blue eyes I'm losing sight cause I am falling I'm so deep down deep down [Music] I can't hide what this is [Music] if it gets too dark I find putting these labels on the bins and removing the transfer tape to be so extremely satisfying so I included lots of clips of labeling the bins if you guys are like me and you enjoy seeing that [Music] I'll be your life [Music] I have done several Pantry organization videos one of my favorites was one that I did when I was like nine months pregnant and I completely made over our pantry in our old kitchen before it was renovated I will link that in the cards right here that was a really good video so if you have an even hey guys and welcome back to my channel I'm excited to share our updated bathroom with you all today we have been working on this for over a month it's taken up any and all of my extra time not that I ever have any of that so I'm going to be showing you what I can of the process of updating this bathroom the logic behind the things that we chose for this space and of course giving you all of my small space organizing ideas if you're here just for the organizing I will leave a time stamp in the description box below to where that begins otherwise let's just get started with the makeover first foreign I want to preface this by saying that we are not professionals we actually have no idea what we're doing so just take everything that I say with a grain of salt in this video I think that in hindsight I would have hired at least a painter for this project if I could do it over again but you live and you learn and it still turned out nice so anyway the first thing that we did was remove the bead board or wainscoting whatever you want to call it and now we are working on scraping all of the glue off of the wall this was very tedious and frustrating and we tried a bunch of different tools to do this to figure out what would work the best and we found that this wall razor worked the best but it still was not great and it took a really long time and as I was going I was using joint compound to fill in all of the holes on the wall and try to smooth it out this took days and days and days of work because I just don't have a lot of free time and I just had to do it when I had the time so like I said in hindsight I would have probably hired a painter but because I definitely underestimated how difficult that project would be [Music] [Music] [Music] hind so to make this project extra fun I decided to start all of this two weeks before we were hosting Carson's birthday party at our house and if you don't know this is our only bathroom so we needed this bathroom to look somewhat presentable for this party and demoing it two weeks before the party probably wasn't the smartest move but it did light a fire under our butts so to speak and it got us moving probably a lot quicker than we would have otherwise we were waiting on the vanity to arrive so we weren't able to install our new vanity mirror or light until that vanity arrived and that wasn't until after Carson's party so you might see that this is just gonna look a little bit funky because I'm painting around things that we're ultimately going to be taking down but we needed the bathroom to be functional and look decent for the party since it is our only bathroom but definitely don't do what I did because it made things a lot more complicated than they probably needed to to be so I would suggest that you be patient and maybe don't try and demo your bathroom right before you have an event at your house [Music] [Music] somehow I was blue [Music] like I said the fixing of the walls was definitely the most tedious part it took us a really long time because there was so much damage on the walls from the beadboard wainscoting whatever it's called and it was just such a mess and the reason why I didn't want to leave that bead board is for a couple of reasons one being that this bathroom is so small that even just that like half inch or inch that the bead board stuck out from the walls felt like it made the bathroom that much smaller and the other reason is that the bathroom does not have very good airflow so it's a very humid environment and dust just tends to cling to everything in that type of environment and I felt like the bead board just constantly looked dirty and no matter how much I cleaned it it was always Dusty and it was always sticky and always dirty so I just needed to get rid of it and just start fresh with a clean wall I don't know that I won't do some sort of accent at some point but I'm definitely glad that the bead board is gone even though this was a huge huge pain and I would for sure hire a painter if I were you I would not try to do this myself ever again [Music] we bought this house in June of 2021 and we actually had a lot bigger plans than we ended up going through with for this house there's a lot of different reasons why things didn't happen but originally we were going to put on an addition and I don't think we're going to do that now but we are renovating our kitchen and we are getting all new floors in the next couple of weeks our kitchen cabinets are scheduled to arrive August 30th so hopefully by the end of August things will be looking pretty close to done I'm really really looking forward to having a more modern and clean and pretty kitchen but anyway if you guys are interested in seeing any of that process I would definitely say follow me over on Instagram because I do not plan on doing like a kitchen makeover video since we hired out for this job and if you guys want to see I will definitely be posting the progress along the way over there on afraid [Music] I will tell them now it is finally time to paint so this is when everything starts to feel like it's coming together and it just looks a lot less awful so I was very happy to get some paint on the walls and cover up all of the colors I don't know who picked the Lilac or who picked the light blue there was also a dark red under there so that's crazy I cannot imagine a dark dark red bathroom but this color that I picked is classic gray by Benjamin Moore and I went with this color because this is what we used in our new finished basement area and I really like it so just figured I would do it in the bathroom as well honestly it is a tad bit dark for me I wish it was a little bit lighter but it looks a million times better than the colors that were there before so I'm definitely happy with it and maybe down the line I will choose to repaint it or hire a painter to fix all of my mistakes but for now it's good and we do like the color Love Not Afraid [Music] for the sake of the video I'm only going to show you guys me painting one coat and I do want to point out that no I did not remove the outlet covers or anything like that in order to paint and that is pure laziness because I just didn't want to take them off and deal with it but I know that I should so you don't have to leave a comment down below I do know I should do that and like I said maybe at some point I'll hire a painter who can come in and do a lighter color for me and maybe fix my little mistakes but for now it's good enough for me it looks fine and I was just so ready honestly to be done with this project foreign [Music] just enjoy the pride passing by it's good best I've ever felt get me somewhere I can't find myself oh I feel I feel I feel I feel so well it is so hard to film painting in such a small room but I'm done painting for now until we get our vanity taken out finished ripping out the beadboard there's still beadboard back here that we just could not get to so gotta rip this vanity out as soon as a new one comes in obviously I have to do baseboards I need to clean the grout like real bad in here and then obviously we're taking out this mirror and we're taking out that light so we still have so much work left to do in here but Carson has a birthday party next week so if we don't get to that before then at least this bathroom is somewhat presentable we kind of cut down the beadboard as much as we could so that there's not like Jagged edges right here but is what we're working with but the paint looks so much better so much better obviously I still have some touching up to do and I need to do like the door and the trim and stuff and there were some that got up on the ceiling there but otherwise like this looks a million times better this bathroom is just so small that having the bead board in here made it feel even that much smaller because it kind of like jutted out on either side here so I'm so happy to see it go but I'm loving the progress so far and I can't wait to start hanging things up we have our new cabinet that I think I'm gonna have my husband put in ASAP and then also we have a toilet paper holder and towel racks and all that so I can't wait to get all that put up to the sky I searched high and low for a new vanity and a new cabinet and just could not figure out what style I really wanted or what I was going for but ultimately I kept going back to the mid-century collection from West Elm that's also what my bedroom furniture is I have the mid-century bed in the mid-century dresser and so I decided to go with those for the bathroom too and I feel like it all kind of ties in together but for this space I wanted to go with the kind of acorn finish and I love it foreign [Music] this is the last shot of the old vanity and I'm excited to show you guys the new one that we got so we ended up running into a little bit of a hiccup in here when my dad came to put in the vanity for us which is in now and it looks so good so beautiful but obviously we have a lot of work to do still fixing the wall over here it's just the way that we had to do it I know that most people would take the vanity out when they're demoing the bathroom and fix everything at the same time and fix it before he put the vanity back in but we couldn't do that because this is the only bathroom that we have and we just are working on very limited time to get things done so it is what it is we will fix the wall but we had an issue with our electrical when my dad went to open up this wall to put the recessed mirror in so we just had an electrician come and do what he needed to do so that we can put our new light up here and move all the electrical out of the way for the medicine cabinet so next step my dad is going to put in the medicine cabinet in the new light and then things are going to start looking almost done and I'm so excited I didn't want to shove a camera in my dad's face when he was trying to work in this bathroom because the space is honestly it's just too small to try and film a whole bathroom makeover so I didn't get any clips of him installing it but he came and he installed our new mirror and our new light and I love them so much but I did have a little bit of work to do around the mirror because you could see where the drywall was cut there was just no I think he called them like flanges or something that were supposed to go around the mirror but this mirror did not come with any so I had to try and correct it myself so at first I tried using corner bead and that just was not working out so then I ended up going in with paper joint tape I think is what it's called and I had to do layers and and layers of joint compound and sanding to try and make it look somewhat seamless but it was definitely tricky process but this was so frustrating that I just did not film it but I just put um paper joint tape all around the mirror because as you can see there's a gap right there and it was looking really rough because of just cutting into the drywall to install this mirror so I applied that that was not easy because this is such like a tight space and all I had was this six inch putty knife to spread the joint compound that was not ideal because it was too big for the space so I had to get real creative to try and get this done but I'm gonna let this dry and then once it's dry I'm probably going to apply another layer of it sand it um do all that and then I think I'm actually going to caulk down right here I was going to put corner bead and I did buy some but it just was not sitting flush enough to the wall because there's there's like screws and stuff in here that are kind of interfering with it and it was just getting to be too frustrating so I went with the paper tape and then I'll caulk it to hide that Gap as best as I can you only notice it when the medicine cabinet is open but this was a super frustrating process so I'm glad that this is at least somewhat done now we are moving on to another day and this was the day that I decided that I was done waiting for this bathroom to be done and that I really needed to organize the space because like I said this is our only bathroom and just having it in disarray for so long and not having all of our things in there where we can access them was just getting really difficult and annoying honestly so I'm going to really quickly do a little bit more sanding and then I'm going to paint one final little bit on the walls and then we are going to get to organizing and I'm so excited to show you guys everything that I got to organize this bathroom and the ideas that I came up with I think it came out really good and I feel like we definitely utilized the space to its highest potential by my actions less reactions oh it doesn't work you guys can see around the mirror I had another layer of joint compound on there and that was drying and then I needed to sand it and paint again so full disclosure the bathroom was not fully finished when I filmed the organizing portion of this video and I just don't want you guys to think that I left it that way this is [Music] so these are all of the items that I purchased to organize this bathroom and I did a little bit of research into them before I bought them I wanted to make sure they were going to fit so I really measured everything and thought pretty strategically about what I was going to put in each thing that I was buying before I bought them so I'm Gonna Leave a link in my description box down below to all of the items that I'm using in this video most of them are from Amazon or Target and they're all relatively affordable so if you're on a budget maybe pick one or two items that might work for you and you can try them out in your space I'm definitely not saying that you need to buy all of these things in order to have an organized space thank you before I could get to organizing I wanted to prep the space so I'm of course cleaning everything off and I'm doing that mostly because there was so much dust from all of the sanding but I pretty much always clean off an area before I get to organizing it [Music] if only I had listened for I got this gorilla grip drawer and shelf liner on Amazon and I really like this and I think that not only does it protect the surface because this is a brand new beautiful vanity I don't want to destroy it but it also just keeps all of your organization from slipping and sliding around and ultimately getting messed up so you don't have to do this but I decided to do it just because I wanted to go the extra mile and really protect the surfaces in my vanity getting harder [Music] you know [Music] something I really liked about this vanity in particular is that it is about six inches smaller than the previous vanity that we had as far as width goes and I did want it to go all the way up against that side wall there but we were not able to do that just because of where the plumbing was located and then the other thing that I liked about it is that it has legs so there's a little bit of a gap down there and I can store things like for example Carson has a stool that he needs to reach the sink and I can push that underneath the vanity instead of having it directly in front of the vanity and kind of blocking it like we always have had in the past we have been injured so many times by the stool that we had in the bathroom before so I ended up buying a foldable one which I don't know if I ended up showing in this video or not but I did buy a foldable stool that I have been storing underneath the vanity and it's worked so much better [Music] I wanted to get everything built put together and then put inside of the areas that I planned to organize before I actually started filling them just to make sure that the vision I had in my head was going to ultimately make sense and that I was organizing in the best way possible these baskets fit perfectly and I really like them because they are utilizing the vertical space that I have in this cabinet this is a relatively small bathroom cabinet but I feel like there's more storage in this vanity than there was in the old one even though it is smaller I just feel like the way that it's laid out makes a lot more sense than the one that we had before did thank you foreign [Music] [Music] this is how the gorilla grip ended up looking at the bottom of our drawers and I am really happy that I decided to go the extra mile and do this step I just think ultimately it's going to help protect the vanity and also help keep things from slipping and sliding all around loving on me loving on me maybe you won't see me get emotional and sometimes I pretend I'm just above it all but I want you lying next to me [Music] organization is all trial and error until you figure out what works for you and I don't know that these containers are going to work I really like the idea of them but they're just a little too wide so I can't fit more than honestly just these in here I'm sure I can use them somewhere else in my house but I'm gonna really think about it and decide if I'm going to return them or not but I'm gonna try to use them and just see how it goes if it helps me at all and if it's not helping me then I'll probably remove these but like I said it's all trial and error so sometimes you win and things fit perfectly like for example these fit perfectly down here and then other times things don't work before I go any further I'm just going to pick up the bathroom a little bit because I just can't work in a messy space and I'm starting to get packaging and things everywhere and then also our shower curtain had fallen down for some reason that morning so I needed to put that back up I just got this new one and it is from Target I think it's the Casa Luna line and it's like a white waffle shower curtain and I think it's so pretty so I'll link it down below if you guys are looking for a new one I just think it makes the bathroom look a little bit more like Hotel Vibes and I'm into it foreign I got this two-tier stand from Amazon and I really liked that it came with everything that you needed like a little screwdriver you didn't have to go and find a screwdriver in order to put it together just kind of a nice touch but anyway I'm putting that together and I got this for the cabinet above the toilet because that cabinet does not have any shelving in it and I felt like this would just help to raise some things up and you would be able to see things better instead of just having everything sitting on one shelf right in front of each other and having things get buried I want your body body say you love [Music] you love just give me something so I can move on pull me closer push me away [Music] we'll be okay my absolute favorite thing about this whole entire bathroom is this medicine cabinet it is stunning it is amazing and it adds so much storage space without taking up any additional room in the bathroom at all and I feel like because this mirror is so tall it also made the bathroom appear bigger it also does not jut out very far like our old mirror used to so it just it seriously feels like it opened up the bathroom so much and I love that it has a mirror inside of it as well so when you open it you can still see yourself when you're doing your skin care or whatever it is that you're doing so I honestly I got this mirror for myself for my things to be stored in and I'm filling it up with pretty much only my things we don't have a master bathroom so this is about as close to a his and hers sink as I'm going to get having my own mirror so I'm taking full advantage and filling it up with my things and I just I love it so much you guys will see I'm going to continue messing with it throughout this video but it just added so much storage space and if you have a small bath bathroom like we do and you have the ability to put in a recessed mirror I would 10 out of 10 recommend but now we're going to work on organizing all of my makeup I had been storing all of my makeup in like a travel case since around Christmas time and it worked great for a while and actually it was really convenient because I would bring it into the living room and I would get ready on the floor next to my baby while he was playing on his play mat but he's now getting to be a little bit mobile so I can't really do that anymore because he gets into everything and he puts everything in his mouth so it was finally time for me to put all of my makeup back into a regular old acrylic organizer and I got this one from Target from the bright room line and I'm super happy with it and I ended up putting it on top of my bathroom cabinet and I think that's the perfect location for it and it's been working out really great something else that I really like is that as you can see I have to wash every single item before I put it away because the way they were inside of that makeup case sometimes things would leak and get all over everything so pretty much everything needed to be cleaned but now I feel like I won't run into that issue anymore so I'm definitely glad that I was finally able to put all my makeup back into one of these acrylic organizers originally I wanted one that was not clear because I feel like this can kind of look like clutter but I just could not find one that I liked that was the right size that was not clear but now that it's in there I think it looks fine and it doesn't make the room look cluttered foreign to figure out what I wanted to put into the medicine cabinet versus what I wanted to put into the bathroom cabinet and all of that so you'll see for a little while here I'm kind of putting things away and then I'm taking them out and I'm trying them somewhere else and I'm just kind of putting things all over the place and I like to leave Clips like that in the video because I want you guys to see that you don't always get it right on the first try and that sometimes organization can take quite a bit of thinking and logic before you figure out what works for you and honestly sometimes it doesn't work for you in a couple of weeks later you may realize that you need to try something else [Music] when I was in love at first [Music] foreign [Music] before I put my makeup brushes away I wanted to go ahead and clean them I honestly can't remember the last time that I cleaned my makeup brushes which is so bad so that's actually why I included it in this video a little bit of realness for you guys but also a PSA to please clean your makeup brushes it's probably time [Music] know what it was a big reason why a lot of these makeup brushes were not cleaned for so long is because of how dysfunctional this bathroom space was before it just felt like I couldn't do anything in there and it felt like no matter what I did things were unorganized and there was just chaos and it was just too much so now that the space is organized I honestly feel like it is so freeing and I feel like a different person which sounds like really silly because we're just talking about a bathroom update and organizing a space but it's seriously made such a difference for me and just having all of our things in a good place where they're easily accessible and things make sense and not to mention how much cleaner this bathroom is now that we've put all of this new stuff in it has seriously improved my mental health again may sound silly to some of you but it's the truth but now I'm going to thin out my makeup brush collection there was just a ton that I never use and probably never will use so I got rid of those but I know I'm not over [Music] we had been storing most of our bathroom items in the baby's room for the past couple of weeks while we were working on the bathroom so I'm going through that and decluttering it I realized that while we were doing all of the renovations there were some things that none of us were using no one reached for it or asked for it in the time that we were working on the bathroom so I just figured that that was a good time for me to say goodbye to those things so I just made a couple piles one to go into the bathroom one to put into the linen closet and then the other one is just trash [Music] in my mind [Music] but I guess that's what love do to people like us [Music] our separate ways not enough time not enough time I'm falling behind falling behind our head to separate my body and mind s [Music] [Music] now we're going to work on putting things away into the vanity so the first thing that I did was work on these drawers and the drawer dividers did help a little bit like I said they didn't really fit properly into these drawers like I hoped that they would I guess my measurements were just a little bit off but they did help to just compartmentalize some things and I do suggest that you use something like that to divide out drawers if you just have one big open drawer it's going to look like a mess but if you compartmentalize it and you just kind of divide it out some way it will definitely help to make it look a little bit more organized but I know I'm not over you I keep missing our fights think I'm losing my mind but I guess that's what love do you will notice that I don't keep cleaning products under the sink in the bathroom and that's because we have a linen closet directly outside of the bathroom and that's where I'm storing those things because they are literally right around the corner and I do have a video where I organized that linen closet and I posted that back and I want to say February and that closet still looks pretty much identical to the way that I organized it then so that's how you know that a system is working I probably could do a little bit of a declutter in that closet but honestly it has really really worked so I'll link that video down below if you need some organization motivation for your linen closet it's electric when you kiss me never felt this way before magnetic wanna stay here closer than clothes [Music] so now I'm going to show you guys how everything ended up looking and I'm so happy with it again this mirror is Top Notch it's amazing it makes me so happy seriously if you have a very very small bathroom and you have the means to put in a recessed mirror I would one thousand percent recommend it it has made such a difference for us but otherwise just using vertical space where you can makes such a difference so using the Shelf risers using those two-tier baskets any stackable type of organizer that you can find drawer dividers can really help too in a small space and you do not need to spend a ton of money on organization supplies I purchased everything like I said from either Amazon or Target but I know that Dollar Tree definitely has some good organization stuff sometimes the target dollar section has some good organization stuff so you do not need to spend a lot of money but it is so nice to have an organized space is it like I said helps my mental health might sound silly to some people but it is very true for Me overall I am so happy with our new updated bathroom and I hope that you guys like it as well it was not fully finished in this video but it was close to it I hope you guys enjoyed this time we're tackling my tiny entryway closet it's been a huge mess for a while and we really need this space to function better for us we're enlisting the help of our sponsor cricket and The coats in this house there were shoes everywhere it was just not functioning at all there was also a really terrible red carpet which you guys will see in a second that we wanted to rip up so the first thing that I'm going to do is remove every single thing from out of the closet so I can see what space I'm working with and we can figure out exactly what we want to do with it [Music] I can't believe it's already over this carpet I will never understand why someone would put that into a space but it's just awful so we're going to rip that out and I was very surprised to find that there was hardwood underneath it we've not found any hardwood underneath any other carpet in our home except for in this closet so I will never understand why someone would cover that up with a red carpet but to each their own so now we're going to clean the space out because there was a ton of Staples in the floor holding down the carpet and it was just very dirty and dusty [Music] to save a little bit of money I just reused this rod and I spray painted it white [Music] my husband and I went to Home Depot and we bought a bunch of wood so we could make shelves and framing for the shelves so right now he's just cutting all that up for me and getting it ready [Music] [Music] like I said there were a ton of Staples in the floor sticking up out of the floor so I really was careful to go around and make sure I got all of them out with a pair of pliers they were very sharp and dangerous and I would absolutely hate for one of my kids to walk into this closet and hurt themselves magic stop for eign [Music] [Music] now that we've kind of deconstructed the closet we're going to switch over to some organizing ideas before we revamp the space and put it all together again as I mentioned earlier I will be using my Cricut joy to create custom labels for my Container Store products to organize my things for these projects I'm using Cricut transfer tape and smart vinyl one thing I knew I definitely needed to organize was our supply of hats gloves and masks and make them just easy to grab when we're headed out the door so we're going to do that first to do this we're going to use qriket's free software design space in this software I can quickly and easily create my custom labels I can pick from a practically endless variety of fonts make them whatever size I need and it takes probably two minutes to prepare design space can be used on both a desktop and on your mobile device and either way you choose to go it's simple and user friendly it's not intimidating at all the qriket joy is key if you're into organization it's Compact and it packs a big punch you can create everything from professional looking labels to custom cards personalized decals and more Bluetooth is built in so connecting your joy to either your desktop or your phone is super easy you can either use design space or the Cricut Joy app The Joy app is perfect for quick and easy projects and design space is great if you're looking to customize just a little bit more [Music] once I've created my design all I have to do is Click make it and follow the prompts on qriket design space to load my material and hit go my Cricut Joy does all the intricate cuts for me and I'm ready to label and organize within a few minutes [Music] I made three labels for this first project one for hats one for gloves and one for masks like I said I just want these things all organized and ready to go when we're running out the door if we need them here I'm just using my weeding tool to remove excess vinyl and then to actually transfer these over to my containers I'll place a piece of Cricut transfer tape over top of my labels and that will pick up my vinyl and allow me to place it easily onto my containers [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] I always find this part to be the most satisfying when I'm creating labels so like I said I used my transfer tape to pick them up and then easily place them onto my containers this makes it really easy to make sure all of your letters and everything are all lined up you're not picking them up individually and trying to place them down yourself they look so professional and clean every single time foreign [Music] [Music] I'm not fine [Music] and I don't know how to enjoy it when my labels were done I went ahead and decluttered and sorted everything into their appropriate bins before I moved on to my next organizing project everything was just kind of shoved into one container before which was obviously not functional and made it near impossible to find what we were searching for so sorting these into three separate bins makes a huge difference and I'm sure this will save us some time on busy mornings when we're running out the door make sure that you stay tuned until the end of the video to see how these bins ended up looking in the space foreign [Music] [Music] if I have learned one thing it's wasting time [Music] for my next organization project we're going to use my joy again along with this divided turntable from The Container Store I really like this because it's customizable the dividers are removable so you can remove some if you need more space in one of the sections what I thought I could use this for was our sunscreens bug spray hand sanitizer and lint rollers they were being stored in our sideboard right when you walk in and it was pure chaos the turntable fits perfectly into the same cabinet and everything is way easier to access and find when we need it again these are things I just want us to be able to grab easily when we're running out the door foreign so once again I used Cricut design space to create my labels I picked a nice simple clean looking font for this project and I love it so we're going to follow the exact same process creating the labels in design space selecting make it and following the prompts to load up my material and go once the joy is done cutting I'll use my weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl and my transfer tape to pick up my labels and transfer them over onto my turntable foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] these labels made all the difference they look so cute and I love the way that they turned out you guys have seen me use my Cricut on endless projects and the joy is my personal favorite qriket machine it's just so easy to use it's Compact and easy to take with you from room to room or even place to place to quickly work on a project I've even brought mine to work with me in the past to help out a co-worker with some labels The Container Store website down below where you can pick up a Cricut joy and all the supplies you need to get yourself organized this time [Music] now we're going to work on sanding down and then staining our shelves I decided I wanted to stain the shelves and do something a little bit different for this closet for the other ones I've kind of just gone for an all-white look but I felt like this just might switch things up a little bit a lot of people have like really cute built-ins when you walk into their house and like a hall tree and it looks so nice but we just don't have the space for that and in our small house if we removed the door and tried to do something similar I think it would just look extremely cluttered so this was the best I could do to kind of keep things a little bit fun without going full on like I've seen other people's spaces so we're going to use the stain early American which is one of my favorites to just add a little bit of color to the space instead of all white [Music] this time I stained four shelves total so there's one Shelf at the very top of the closet like any standard closet would have and then the other three all went along the bottom and those were for shoes and for the bins that we labeled so I really wanted to do this because I felt like if I had wider boards that went all the way across the closet I would be able to organize our shoes a lot better I'd have the floor to organize some and then the next two shelves and then I'd have the final shelf for the bins I just felt like this was going to work the best for us and it did end up working out really nice as you guys will see at the end anymore I'm feeling okay [Music] [Music] while I was sanding and staining my husband was kind of framing out the closet so we can easily put our shelves in there and then we also painted it so we're just using Smokey white by bear to paint the closet we've been using this same color to paint the rest of our house so we really like it and we just figured we would also use it in the closet because we had it and we also already had painting supplies so that was nice that we didn't have to run out and grab any of those this step is probably unnecessary you don't have to paint your closet or do any of this in order to organize the space but it definitely just helps it look a lot cleaner and nicer [Music] [Music] [Music] at this point we had doordashed some lunch and I finished mine first so then I got to work on the rest of the painting while my husband was eating we actually had my mom watch the kids for us on this day so we could get all of this done in one day which was awesome because normally our projects take us a really long time between taking care of the baby and then we have our almost five-year-old who's just very demanding of our attention so it was really nice to just bang out this project in one day thank you like I said we put three shelves along the bottom for our shoe storage in the bin storage so my husband is installing those for me now [Music] the next thing that we needed to do was go through all of our jackets because we had just an insane excess of jackets so now that the weather is starting to warm up a little bit we figured we didn't need our winter coats in there anymore so we took all of those out and we put them into a winter jacket spin that we're storing in our basement and then we donated a whole bunch so we could really narrow down our jacket collection and just save us a ton of space in the closet and now the fun part which is putting everything back into the closet so the first thing that I'm doing is putting our bins in and it kind of took me a minute to figure out how I wanted to configure these but I did end up putting them back on the top shelf on the left but I do like to keep in the parts where I kind of remove things and move them around and stuff just to show you guys that we do not always get it right on the first try [Music] my heart wants to us [Music] I got this little set of hooks from The Container Store and I'm using that to store Carson's backpack and also our keys The Way We Were storing our keys before was not good we were throwing it onto the top of our sideboard when you walk in and it was actually damaging the surface so I needed a new solution for the keys now one more time I'm going to share with you guys the before so you can remember what an absolute disaster this closet was before we got to organizing it and here is the after it looks so much better there's so much less clutter everything has a place and I feel like we've really utilized the vertical space as much as we possibly could this space functions a lot better for us I'm actually able to use it whereas before I dreaded even opening the closet door because I knew what small space organization tips along the way today I'm sharing an overview of a bunch of my favorite small space organization ideas that I have come up with and they're all in one quick video this is for all of you who don't want to watch a project start to finish and you're just looking for quick ideas for your kitchen your bathroom your entryway your bedroom we're covering so many areas in this video today I will have any products shown that I'm able to find Linked In My description box below for you to shop I hope you enjoy this video and it helps you organize your small space foreign my first tip is for your bathroom if you have a small bathroom but you have a thin space that you're not currently utilizing this rolling cart is perfect I always say to utilize the vertical space in a small room so with this rolling cart you're able to stack things up on shelves and pull it out as needed they come in a variety of different sizes so depending on your space you could get one with only two shelves or one with I think up to four shelves and it just tucks away nicely for whenever you need to use it foreign [Music] I have done a whole bunch of different spice organization ideas on my channel so I'm going to share a couple of my favorite ones in this video the first one being a decorative shelf to store them I cut up two pieces of wood sanded them down and stained them and used my Cricut to customize labels for everything if you don't have a Cricut you could just order labels on Etsy but I just think the custom labels take this from a bunch of spices to almost a pretty piece of Decor this is totally customizable too so if you have a large collection of spices you would just need to build a larger shelf than I did here but by doing this and storing my spices on my counter they were easy to access and didn't take up any valuable space in a drawer or a cabinet foreign [Music] if you have a slim cabinet that you just don't know what to do with I would suggest hooks that stick to the top of your shelf and I used that for just hanging dangerous cooking tools that I didn't want my toddler to be able to reach but you could also use these to hang coffee mugs if you wanted to and that would just bring them up off of the shelf and give you more storage space beneath them I also like using dividers to divide out a cabinet like this and that just helps to compartmentalize the space make it easier to find what you need without digging through the cabinet foreign can be so tricky and I've organized and reorganized mine so many times but I found that these shelves you can customize to fit around your plumbing worked the best for me they help you utilize as much vertical space as possible I also love to use stackable drawers for under my sink one I'll use to store extra sponges or baking soda and maybe one to store cleaning cloths you can obviously put whatever you want or need to in them but it's nice to be able to slide a drawer out and reach for whatever you need without fumbling around trying to find something that you can't see [Music] foreign [Music] for baking related items like cupcake pans or cooling rocks I love this adjustable bakeware rack you can easily remove the metal dividers and put them wherever you need to make your items fit it's sturdy and it makes it easy for you to see exactly what you have and access whatever you need as you need it without any trouble I used to have to sift through my assortment of bakeware and it would always end up being such a big mess by the time I found what I was looking for but by organizing them this way you can just see everything that you have and it makes it look a little bit nicer and makes your life just a little bit easier too foreign [Music] that I like to do in my small spaces is utilize door space so you're going to see me do this quite a bit for example this is an over-the-door organizer and I used it to store my cutting boards you can command strip this right on that's what I did or it does come with hooks to hang over the cabinet door if you just prefer to do that either way it's renter friendly another thing that I've done on the inside of this cabinet door was put a magazine organizer on my cabinet door again using just command strips and I used that to store things like Ziploc bags and tin foil and cling wrap using the inside of your doors is just such an easy way to add storage space and free up space in your cabinets or your drawers for other items foreign [Music] idea that I love is this Joseph Joseph cabinet spice organizer it hooks to the top of your cabinet and serves as like a little drawer that pulls down when you need it I think this is so great and it utilizes space that may otherwise not serve a purpose in your kitchen this is of course only helpful if you have a small collection of spices but it's one of my all-time favorite ideas and what honestly got me really into creating small space organization videos so I had to include it here [Music] this next idea is for your Lids to your pots and pans these lid organizers just stick to the inside of your cabinet doors and they can accommodate a variety of different sizes of Lids once again I just love taking things out of cabinets and utilizing a space that otherwise just wouldn't be used for anything these were quite sturdy and they worked well for me in my apartment and they are renter friendly since these just stick right onto the door and no drilling is required and I'm happy to report that when I did eventually remove these there was no damage to the inside of the doors foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] I went from living in a home with a big Pantry to living in an apartment with no Pantry so storing food and cabinets was very foreign to me and I had to get creative at one point I had a closet made pantry cabinet which worked great but I eventually upgraded and bought a bigger cabinet from Ikea this one had open shelving up top so I used that to decant and store my pantry items like flour sugar and rice among a bunch of other things you can make this look super pretty and have it function for you at the same time and the bottom portion of this cabinet had plenty of space for me to store all of our other Pantry items and keep them out of sight and out of our kitchen cabinets a freestanding pantry cabinet for me is one of the top ways to organize a small space especially if you're a renter [Music] foreign [Music] if you have a small kitchen Joseph sells a Cutlery organizer that helps you to stack your Cutlery so you can store a full set in half the space we loved this in our apartment and it definitely helped to free up space for other items foreign ERS stick right underneath your shelf I remember finding these and thinking they were just the neatest thing these are perfect for inside of your pantry or in my case inside my pantry cabinet again using that vertical space [Music] foreign if you have a very small bedroom I would suggest removing the doors off of your closet to try and expand your bedroom space and make that kind of a part of the bedroom now in order to also have some space for organization we use this closet to build a closet system that we purchased from modular closets and this added a whole bunch of drawer space And Cabinet space while also still opening up the room to get the same effect you could just put a dresser in your closet and then use the rest of the space as living space and it just feels like the room is a little bit bigger but you're not losing storage [Music] foreign [Music] table that I got from The Container Store you can customize it so you can take out the plastic dividers and move them wherever you need to I use mine to store things that we need in our entryway so sunscreen bug spray lint rollers things of that nature and I put it right into our entryway cabinet and it's perfect for grabbing things when we need them on the go but this turntable could be used for literally anything it would be perfect in your pantry be perfect in your bathroom or under your sink foreign if you live in a home without a coat closet I would suggest obtaining a piece of furniture it does not need to be expensive that will provide a lot of storage space this sideboard I got from article it's been in my entryway for years now both in my apartment and in my current house and it's really helped us to organize things that we need when we're headed out the door and keep them out of sight like hats sunscreen at one point I stored some of my toddler's shoes in there I also built a Shelf with my dad that I was able to use to hang up our coats this idea obviously requires more legwork and potentially more spending but I thought I would include it here anyway because it was one of my favorite organization projects this is another entryway project that we did in our house and I figured that I would include it in here in case you guys need some more ideas for that space so we of course like utilizing bins for things like our hats masks unfortunately we still need those and gloves so those are easily accessible when we are running out the door but we also created shelves that were the entire width of the closet and we put those at the very bottom so that we could store our shoes on them and it worked out perfectly for us our entryway closet is so tiny and we also don't have a really big master closet so shoe storage has definitely been tricky for us but ever since making over this closet and making these shelves that are the entire width of the closet we've had such an easier time with storing our shoes and keeping them off of the floor and out of sight in the closet where they belong so if you're like us and you don't have a mud room or any of these big fancy Pinterest like entryways then this may be a solution for you and this was pretty inexpensive all we did was buy a couple of pieces of wood from Home Depot [Music] my last small space organization idea today is drawer dividers so these ones come from Ikea they're from the scub line but I really like them because they help me to divide out a drawer I use them in both of my kids rooms so I use them in our closet system that we built in the nursery I use them in the baby's dresser I use them in my older son's dresser but these of course could be used in other spaces in your home and then they also do sell other drawer dividers on Amazon that are more shallow so if you wanted to use some for your junk drawer or in your kitchen you could do that as well but I just think that dividing Outdoors definitely helps with organizing a small space [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] now choose you know exactly how they look like this hey everyone and welcome back to my channel I am pretty excited to bring you guys an updated Pantry organization video the last time I organized my pantry was I believe back in December I was like a million months pregnant and you guys seem to love that video so we are doing it again today things of course have become unorganized since then but the system itself is still working for us so I didn't buy anything new for this video we're just working with what we got I have a small pantry cabinet so we're not a family with an over abundance of food because we just do not have the storage so I like to think of this as a very realistic and relatable Pantry organization anyway first things first we're of course removing everything from all of the shelves [Music] oh no and they tell me [Music] [Music] your secrets acceptable things were not looking so good once I got everything out of the pantry so we're going to clean this off by vacuuming and then also wiping everything down [Music] [Applause] [Music] I noticed while I was vacuuming that there was just so much built on Gunk and dust at the bottom of this pantry cabinet so I wanted to take that shelf completely out and really wipe everything down on the bottom here and give it a good vacuum foreign [Music] anytime I organize a space I always take the time to make sure that I'm cleaning out the area that I'm working in this is mainly an organization video but this is a part of the process and I like to show you guys everything from start to finish [Music] but I can't help too far for you repeatedly someone told me in a comment once to stop showing close-ups of my dirty rags after I finished cleaning so anyway here's a close-up of my dirty Rag and this is all the dust that I got out of my pantry cabinet just like the last time I took everything out of my pantry put it all out on my kitchen table where I can see it and I can go through everything find anything that may be expired or opened and stale and just go through everything and categorize it all before I put it all back into the pantry I don't know about you guys but when I'm trying to do something in my kitchen if my kitchen is a mess I just can't focus I can't get it done and I can't do my best work so before we do anything else in the pantry I'm going to just tidy up a little bit clear off my counters because I know that when I go to take everything back off my table and bring it back in my kitchen I'm going to be using my counters and the amount of clutter that was on them just made them pretty unusable [Music] had we met before laughing instantly but it didn't feel it didn't feel like something struck me while we're at it because I am known to spiral if I start cleaning one thing I'll start cleaning everything we're also going to empty the dishwasher and then we're going to load it back up with whatever's in the sink if you guys are new to my channel if this is your first time here and you're like what the heck why is she cleaning in an organizing video I actually started as a cleaning Channel and my channel kind of slowly evolved into the organization so I still really enjoy providing cleaning motivation and making cleaning videos and like I said to me this kind of intertwines into the organization because I personally feel like I cannot do a project like that if I'm looking around and the rest of my house is a mess had we met with nothing against chemistry [Music] so like I said we're just going to load the dishwasher back up with all of these dirty dishes and I had a few that I needed to hand wash but yes I am a pre-rinter when it comes to the dishwasher and I think that you probably would be too if you saw the stuff that I have seen coming out of dishwasher filters before it is absolutely disgusting sometimes it can look like they are growing limbs so I prefer to pre-rinse all of my dishes and my dishwasher filter has never looked like that [Music] to your to yours was in love [Music] coming [Music] along yourself on a Saturday night foreign [Music] if you're a mom as well and you're looking for a wireless like hands-free pump I got this one from Mom cozy I forget which one it is I can link it down below but it's actually pretty good it works well it's better than the one that I got through my insurance when I had the baby but it's just so convenient to not be hooked up to a wall when I need to pump so if you guys are looking for one like I said I'll put it down below [Music] knew I could talk to you keep we had a little bit of an incident last week where our basement was flooding luckily not in the new section that we just finished it was on the other side of the basement but still kind of scary and we didn't have hot water for like a full 24 hours which was super rough and I will never take my hot water for granted again have made it work we're here we're here first time far away long [Music] [Applause] ER [Music] [Music] foreign next time my husband tells me he can't do anything when he's holding the baby I'm just gonna show him this video of me walking around vacuuming with the baby on my hip but seriously this baby is like a stage seven Clinger he is like obsessed with me but it's totally fine because I love it he's so cute and so tiny and he's only this small for so long so I cherish all of these moments [Music] next up we are going to clean the floors using my Steam Mop from light and easy you guys know I've never been a fan of traditional mops and buckets of water I just do not believe they truly clean your floors so I personally think a steam mop is the way to go if you want to actually sanitize your floors and the cool thing about this one that really sets it apart from others is that it is not just a mop it is a handheld steam cleaner as well it comes with a ton of different attachments so no matter what area you're trying to clean there is a tool that will work perfectly you can clean tough dried on sticky messes with this you can clean your bathroom with this your floors or your toilet right here I had a Band-Aid my son had stuck on the floor that literally fused into it and I could not get it off for the life of me like it's been there for months and this machine took it right off and what I didn't realize at first was you can actually use this to degrease and clean appliances in your kitchen so I cleaned the bottom of my oven with it and it took like two minutes and seriously looked brand new I was shocked it was honestly better than any oven cleaner I've ever tried this is a good quality sturdy steam mop it has a long power cord so you can mop a large area without worry something else I like about this one is that it has three different heat settings depending on what type of floor or Surface you're cleaning so it works on hardwood laminate and tile as well as marble grout ceramic and stone especially having three kitties running around our house with dirty litter box Paws everywhere I love the clean this Steam Mop provides and just knowing my floors are sanitary for myself and my babies and of course I have to show you the dirty microfiber pad so you can see just how much this machine picks up it's so crazy to me that our floors can be this dirty given how this project we're going to get started on organizing everything from inside of my pantry so the first thing that I'm doing is going through everything looking for anything that is expired and then also reducing excess packaging so if I have a package that has one granola bar in it then I'm getting rid of that package and just keeping the one granola bar and you'll see that I'm going to combine things as much as I can so if I have veggie chips to me that's the same thing as veggie straws so I'm going to put it in the container with the veggie straws and if that's weird to you then I'm sorry but to us it's totally fine so I'm gonna do a little bit of that just to try and condense the Clutter as much as I possibly can forget you're looking at me so cold get over yourself are you for real what are you looking at me so cold one's love is [Music] taking me down another thing that I'm doing here is I'm kind of categorizing everything as I go so I'm putting all of the sauces together I'm putting all of the breakfast things together all of the taco things together and things like that just so that when I go to put everything back it's all already in the correct category and it just makes it a little bit easier for me up come on lay it down I will always get up again [Music] I really do believe that having a good organized Pantry in your home is very important for a couple of reasons one being the financial part of it if you can't see what you have then you may go out and buy a bunch of things that you don't need because you didn't know that you already had it and then the other thing is that you're reducing your food waste because you can again actually see what you have and you're a lot less likely to let things go expired if you can see everything and everything is organized and nothing gets kind of thrown in the back into Neverland where you'll completely forget about it and it will go bad before you ever find it so this is where we're at so far I like I said try to keep everything in like categories so all of the taco stuff is together all of the pasta sauces are together and then I have my rice and macaroni together some cake mixes in the back this is all breakfast so oatmeal maple syrup and then I have a bunch of my yellow containers that I had used in my previous video I'm still in love with these containers I will probably never change the type of containers that I use they're so good but anyway this is how everything is looking so far and like I said I try to keep it all kind of categorized as I'm going just to make it a little bit easier for me [Music] now I'm taking things that I know are going to go back into the pantry and bringing them into my kitchen so I can get ready to put them back onto the shelves [Music] this is all excess packaging that I was able to get rid of and then over to the left I have some things that I'm going to try and donate to my local food pantry [Music] feel me [Music] Carson's snack section of the pantry is always the first to get unorganized because he's four so that's pretty much why that happens but I'm going to just put all of his snacks back out so that he can see them and like I said I'm condensing packaging so I'm going to actually open up those rainbow goldfish and I'm going to dump them into a container that already had some rainbow goldfish in them because that just makes sense and then I'm also going to combine the veggie chips into the veggie straws container and I had some circus cookies that I did put in with the Teddy Grahams now obviously those are not the same thing but it's completely fine Carson is not going to care that there is two different types of cookies in one container [Music] touch me [Music] touch me [Music] like I said I still love these yellow containers they're just so pretty and I also love that they have like non-slip silicone around them so when I stick them in my pantry I can stack them on top of each other and I don't have to worry that they're going to slide around or they're going to fall off everything just stays put wherever you put it now the fun part we're going to put everything away and this actually was pretty easy for me because we didn't have that much stuff we're not a family that keeps an overabundance of food like I said before because we simply don't have the space to store it but also because it cuts down on food waste so we typically just buy what we need going forward for the week ahead and we don't keep too many extras [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so obviously I have some restocking that I need to do this is pretty empty but overall this is so much better so I'm just going to show you guys what I ended up putting on each shelf um and I guess my logic behind it so this one in the back we've got sugar oats pancake mix we have syrup since like you know breakfast peanut butter I also associate with breakfast so I try to keep all those together and then in the back we have some peanuts and some almonds which we don't reach for very often so I just kind of put them in the back but I know that they're there so when I want them I know where they are and then I just stuck a couple of like our snacks like our I love these arm crisps and then these are chickpea snacks that my husband likes I just stuck them here um just so that we remember that they're here because sometimes things especially in a pantry like this can kind of get shoved to the back and you forget that you even have them so I want them to be front and center so when I'm looking for something to eat and I open up the pantry I see that I have something healthy here instead of looking down at Carson's shelf and seeing the cookies so put those right up front and center and then this is a pizza dip that I keep forgetting that I have that I need to make so I stuck it up here so that I would not forget about it also there's kind of a debate over whether you store your syrups in the fridge or in the pantry I've always stored mine in the pantry they do say that they don't need to be refrigerated and I've never had an issue with molds you guys will have to let me know what you do but I know it's kind of like a heated debate and I'm a pantry person for my syrup on this shelf I have everything dinner related so spaghetti in the back I have a couple of taco dinner kits that we definitely need to use I think they're approaching their expiration and then these are pasta sauces this is a salsa tri-color pasta that's like shapes fun for Carson and then we've got rice macaroni more rice so all of this is just dinner related and it's at I think a better height I used to have the dinner stuff up here and I feel like this makes more sense just for us being able to see what we have when we're trying to figure out what to make for dinner and then Carson's shelf I have a bunch of his snacks all right here laid out for him so when he's looking for something to eat they're readily available and then this is like a combination of Teddy Grahams um Annie's bunnies and circus cookies so they're all in there rainbow goldfish and then this is veggie straws so he obviously needs some more snacks so next time I go shopping now I have room to put the snacks which is really nice and then for the baby I have some oatmeal baby cereal but she's really not eating yet we did try it once just to see his reaction but he's not really into food yet so I actually had a ton of these like way more than I could ever ever need so I'm probably going to donate the ones that I'm not going to use and just keep these two I I don't even know if we'd ever go through two of them because if I remember correctly Carson was not a big oatmeal baby so I don't know that Sutton is going to like it but I have it just in case and then the bottom shelf this is stuff that we really don't grab often so I've got my steel cut oats I don't know why I just don't eat oatmeal that often but I do like to have it and then we have some cake mixes and then hot chocolate teas and then these this is balsamic vinegar and this is like a some kind of fancy mustard that I've never used before and we should probably use that but anyway this is perfect because now we actually have space to add some more things it looks so much more organized last time I did this I put all of the yellow containers on one shelf together honestly mostly for like the Aesthetics of the video this time I just put them wherever they made sense and I think that this overall will work just a little bit better for us [Music] this goes this really is not bad at all so this is all that I'm throwing away and I'm only throwing them away because they're already opened this I don't know why Carson opened that and then never drank it but um he just doesn't like the pizza Goldfish and actually this is not this is not food based that's empty he doesn't like the pizza Goldfish so we're getting rid of these and they're already opened I can't like donate those and then these I thought were disgusting I bought these one day and hated them so getting rid of that these are Fig Newtons we've had forever and then two granola bars that Carson doesn't like these actually aren't opened so I don't know if I could add these to the Donate pile but we'll see I don't know what they accept I'm just gonna try to bring everything and see what happens but yeah as far as food waste this is it from the whole organization so I feel pretty good about that and none of this is opened so all of this I'm going to attempt to donate I don't know who my husband thinks we are but we are not going to eat these these sponsor things we've tried it before and it just didn't have much flavor and then these also I did not like them at all I think he kind of liked it but I'm I'm not a fan and I don't want him to make it again so I'm gonna donate them and then these I think there probably is a mom out there who would be very happy to get some organic oatmeal cereal for her baby so so these are all getting donated hopefully as long as they accept them once I get rid of all of this excess packaging and throw it in the recycling that is the end of this
