hello you guys welcome to the first setup vlog of this summer today we are doing a small group area and I've got a few things to do before I can actually start setting it up so we have some counter little labels that are gonna go in those Dollar Tree at little containers I'll show you and then my little queen helpers that are going in target dollar spot stuff and then some little coin out by reference cards that's also gonna go in my cart so that I have those so yeah so let me go show you a small group area I'm gonna get these things laminated before we start setting up all right so this is my hot mess of a small group area I went with putting it up at the front of my room this year I had had it at the back of my room right here last year and also over there in the corner last year at the beginning of the year and then moved it over here and that worked really well but I didn't love that I was always behind my students so I thought I would try it out up here I also didn't use this area very well last year so I thought this would be a great solution for that so I've got some white board space behind me which I really like having when I have a small group area so I can stand up and write on the whiteboard behind it if I need to and then we've got these two cards which are gonna be mostly what we set up today because one of them is for my reading groups one of them is for a small group math is for my technology man like cords for all of my technology are over here at the front of the room there is like a little box for all the things and so this is gonna be kind of where my laptop sits and then where my little document camera thing goes and then I'm gonna use some of this for storage for small group stuff that I don't use like every single day it's on the board behind me this is what I'm gonna use to store all my reading groups supplies I found these containers at the doll or at Target in the dollar spot they were a dollar they're awesome they're like really sturdy little bins and so I always have four reading groups so we will put all our stuff in there so the book that we're reading for the day if I write up a lesson plan to match it if they have a little worksheet as a warm-up or something at all go in there and then this guy is gonna be for my math groups this is yeah and I need to get some command hooks like the back of it has these little hook things so I need to get some and hooks that will hold that for math group supply is same thing kind of like this I can't just hide though I could move this lamp and I could mount it on here which I think might be a good idea because this is like a really sturdy material or I could put it I could put it like on the wall right here but either way I think this lamp might have to move because I don't want the lamp in my way so that's that [Music] okay so here's the first little project I'm working on to set up for my math cards now my math cart and my reading cart both just hold all kinds of resources I'll use throughout the year in my small group time so I made these little coin helpers if you follow me on instagram then you've already seen these I found these little containers at Target in the dollar spot they were a dollar and they've got four little compartments so they're perfect for Queens and this is just my example I didn't have access to my color printer yet so I'm gonna go ahead and rip these out they're not laminated or anything they're just taped in there and I'm laminating all the pieces and I have printed them in color so we're laminating we're cutting here's the little covers I need to keep laminating those and I will eventually have six little coin helpers that will go into my math cart so this is the first project we're working on here's a project number two it's kind of going to go along with these guys these I'm just going to glue I'm gonna put a little piece of glue down the middle and this is gonna be like a little card that I can hand out when I don't want us to actually be using like money manipulatives and I just want them to have like a quick little reference to remind them of what any twine is or if my kiddos are struggling at their desks trying to work by themselves I can just pass out one of these guys to them so I'm gonna go ahead and laminate that as well with these it's also really really hot it hasn't really been that hot in here I don't know if the air is off it kind of sounds like the air is off I don't hear anything but it's getting hot okay oh we are almost ready to actually pull the carts out and pull all of the supplies and things we're gonna finish these jobs really quickly everything's laminated everything's cut out all we have to do is assemble so I'm gonna flip you guys around and show you what we're doing okay so like I already shared these are for the coin helpers so we're gonna put this on the top of each one and then we're gonna put all these little labels on the inside and then those are going to be filled with coins I'm literally OCD and I can't have only five little eraser counter things that are blue and then put like one color and add our way so I picked up some more erasers because I wanted six little counting I've got six gray ones that I picked up this year so we're gonna transfer these to the gray we're gonna add the new ones and then we're going to blue these little guys in the top here and then we're gonna have little sets of rounders I'm gonna use a hot glue gun to tape or to glue all of these guys on here everything is laminated that I'm gluing so hot glue should stick really nicely to the plastic that [Music] all right we're finished we've got our queen helpers we've got our little counter guys and then these are the other clean helpers that I made those are just gonna go in the cart and then I can pass these out to kiddos as needed y'all I'm getting hungry though we're gonna take a quick snack I brought some apples and cinnamon one of my favorite little snacks for the classroom so I literally pack this almost every day during the school year a little apple cut-up toss some cinnamon on top it's so good my water bottle water today and then I swear we're gonna get to the carts all right you guys here we go so I told you the two biggest things that I keep in my small group area are two carts one for reading supplies one for masa pies oh I cleared out my little rug area I put both of my carts here I've kind of been like stacking a few things last like week or so that I want to put over here and then my table has things for reading and math and then I stored all my reading cart stuff from last year so all the things that I had in my cart last year up these cabinets not all of it was in the carts so I'm gonna pull down all the things I want to put in my cart this year and put it on the rug a few math things that I want back here and then I also kind of packed up my math cart last year in this big tub so I'm gonna put all of the supplies that I want to fit in my reading cart in front of my reading cart and all of the things I want in my math cart in front of my math cart lay it out so that I can put a plan together because the carts aren't huge so I want to make sure that I'm using them wisely okay everything is laid out so this side right here is all my reading supplies and this side right here is all my math group supplies [Music] [Music] and up here is just tons of like different little resources these are like sight-word things some flow maps that's actually for writing but here's some long word cards just like breaking up words in to sounds different jobs from here are like my little reading pointers I always pick up these little stir sticks from the target dollar spot our timers that I picked up this year in the target dollar spot these little bins are from Target last year this is my little assessment no but I'm going to be using for small group you can check out my Instagram to see but that's all about pic that the reading trackers also picked up these bookmarks and then just some sight word is from Ikea and then I had these magnetic letters that I picked up probably two years ago I guess from Target and I just have never used them so I thought I might just stick them here and see if I can figure out a way to use those I've got these little dots these are awesome for like giving the kiddos to find sounds and words in their book and they put it over any over the sounds of flashcards for different words that have to go with my phonics programs and kids I love these my tea story out but basically you get a color coding card for close reading is a fiction a non fiction setting painters for the kiddos I've got six of those these are just erasers like little mini erasers for dry erase words like just magnetic letters cookie boy sheet over a little and then here's the math cards up here here's those counters and then I have just like some puzzle games that I picked up last year in the target dollar spot love if you have little games and stuff in there and then these are little they're dry-erase they're actually planter sticks I'm gonna target dollar spot you'll notice a lot of the things I pick up for my small group is just from Target so I haven't decided what I'm gonna use those for this year yet these are just different flashcards for different skills index cards always more flashcards there so those Queen helpers I just made cubes we use when we're doing story problems these are just sentence strips they're now clean helpers those little stay down here holds all of my money picked up from Target last year and I kind of cut them apart so that they could be reused and I can just pass them out to multiple kiddos but it's just addition facts and I also have our multiplication three sports from the target dollar spot did not hold up very well but I keep them just because and then down here is just a ton of these very sweet these are just all my like teacher manipulatives so I need to figure out how I want to store all of that have these little tool kits for my kiddos in smaller math I need to cut these out and laminate them and then tape them on the front and I might just like step these to the side and like a stack up so that I can just pass these out really quick but these are just gonna fold different student manipulative so this is for the counters that are gonna be in here no here's counters so we've got powers I haven't organized this all yet we've got some little shapes can you sew packaging still trying to figure out the best way to organize these so that they're functional for us but these little container things picked up at the dollar tree so that was awesome and they fit everything so we'll see how that works out but that is pretty much it you guys okay so this is kind of what its gonna look like I am gonna make some like labels one's gonna say reading what it's gonna say math I discovered that these fit perfectly right in there so that's where those are gonna live and that's kind of everything that I have set up for today all right y'all I hope you enjoy that I still have some things that I need to do as far as like my teaching supplies and things that I will be using more for me less for kiddos and I still have some things to hang up over in this area but the carts are pretty much set other than maybe adding in a few different things for reading just because I'm gonna have per screen so that's that you are not already subscribed to my channel go ahead and subscribe follow me on Instagram go ahead and follow me on instagram at
