[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey guys welcome back to my channel and welcome back to another tutorial video all right so for today this was actually a requested video i i'm gonna be showing you guys just literally the basics because i'm still learning the sims 4 studio myself but i do know a few things or at least understand a few things that i think i can share with you guys so that you can not be completely or totally confused when you open the sims 4 studio and you want to like for example recolor some content so i'm not going to be showing you how to recolor content today i'm just going to be explaining just a few basics when you open the menu here just to put you at a good place so that nothing on this screen looks too foreign to you all right so it's just a little explanation tutorial i'm also going to link below in the description the overall tutorial page lists of everything if you're interested in doing more than what i'm going to show you if it is that you want me to show you how to do different things on the sims 4 studio please feel free to comment below what it is that you'd like me to show you what is that you'd like to do and i'll personally learn it for you guys because if i can help i'd love to help you guys alright so right here we are on the main screen so if we for example open the sims 4 studio shortcut this is what's going to pop up which i'm sure most of you know by now i also link in description below my troubleshooting video if for example you are not able to locate your path file in the sims 4. all right so all right so over here we have the file button it's not really important to use now but these are the options are in the menu it says main menu save save as an exit exit will obviously take you completely out of the app and then there are the settings and this is what you'd usually go into to locate your sims 4 path file all that good stuff all right and then we also have over here the toolbar uh to be honest you don't need to use this right now if you're just starting out with the sims 4 studio all right but you might be interested in content management because this is where you would go to merge and unmerge package files if you're asking what what do you mean by merging on merge package package files all right package files are the format that custom content take before you put them in your game are just the custom content format basically so just like how you'd have mp4 format for music you have package files for custom content that makes sense so every custom kind that you have in your mods folder can be merged into one file this simply means that for example you have 20 items in your custom content folder if you merge all 20 items it'll be one item in your custom content folder and basically it kind of reduces space if you don't like to see the clutter because each item will still show up individually in your game so that's what it means by merge packages and you can also go back and unmerge them for example you want to remove one particular object from your game awesome that's what that is and then of course you have the help bar which will take you to the the forum the different tutorials etc but as i said for a link in the description the overall list of everything that you may possibly want to do in a sims 4 studio over here let's start here here you have animations now these are for the animation builders i personally don't know how to make animations i will one day though so y'all look out for that it's very complex but if you wanted to make an animation it has animation clip pack which is what you click on and i think you have to use blender to make animations all right in build right this has anything to do with for example anything you have in build mode in the sims 4 so if you have walls if you if you want to change the floors you want to add an extra floor texture or just an additional floor like you don't have cement floors in a sims 4 you can use this option here it says standalone recolor or add swatches to add those to your game it has everything you could think of like trees plants anything that would be an option in the build for the sims 4. and then we go on to having to create a sim and object now this is what a newbie like myself and some of you would want to zoom in and focus on we may not feel very comfortable we're going to build an animations just yet but then we have cast and we have the object now i'm not going to click on anything here's yet because i just want to finish everything on this main menu before i move on over here is just just another link to all the different tutorials that are available online and when you click on my cc what's going to pop up is basically just your mods folder it's just going to show you all the items that you have in your mods folder alright so as you can see it lists out everything um you can just what you can do in this menu basically is to change the options that are available for your custom content like for example you see i'm clicked on savage sims chain hoops right i don't have my mouse activated right now you guys so i can't really zoom in but i can probably rotate her you can see right now that she has in these hoops it says it comes with different swatches and swatches basically mean different colors for the item so it comes in gray black gold red you get a picture so i'm just gonna ignore the polygons and stuff because this is for persons who create custom content from scratch which i don't do but um you have age and gender flag so this basically means who is able to wear these earrings no it's not activated for males so let's say for example you want it activated for males you click here but right now this airing is only available to females teen elder adult young adult no toddler child but if you wanted the earrings to be available for toddler children you can click on it right and then select apply to all swatches all right you can also this is not really important in terms of color but you can if for example you select it on red uh you could click on red right but you don't need to focus on this color section right here now if you scroll down you'll realize that it says what age is appropriate similar to what's up here but yeah so you can select which age is appropriate to have this item fashion choice whether you want to be feminine masculine and this is basically gonna specify what happens in create a sim menu so if you're going to create a sim menu in the sims 4 and you're dressing your sim or making a sim you'll realize that if you click on a bar at the top and let's see if i can find a picture to put in the video to show you what i mean and you're going to filter in the sims you can filter to all these options here what's age appropriate fashion choice all that is in the menu and what it does is when you click on it it narrows it down so that only the options that are feminine for example will be shown um for you to select for the sim as you can see the earrings are selected under formal and cold weather and everyday and party and swimwear now if you want for example when you filter you want it to be available in sleep because sometimes the game filters for itself so we're in the creators i'm hoping that it's helpful and not too long but you're going to create a submenu and for example you click on formalwear you'll realize that it specifies formal wear at the top and it only shows you the options for formal wear for your sims now if for example you clicked on sleep you're gonna dress your sim for sleep you will not see these earrings in the menu or in the options right but if you want for example your sim for whatever reason to wear hoops to bed you can just simply come here click my cc in the sims 4 studio head over here and click on sleep and apply to all swatches which means all the colors are available to you and because right now we're on red so if we clicked on apply to if you just clicked on sleep and just clicked on save a little will be that when you're going to sleep only the red option for this cc would be available and not all the swatches right i think that's a good explanation and then color palette this is same thing if you want to specify in a menu right now none is ticked which means that it'll be there for every no it probably won't be available for any of these color these color palettes but we don't use these when we're specifying the sims 4. so it's not really that important to you guys um as you can see it's selected fabric as metal once again also for when you're filtering in the sims 4. but yeah you guys that's basically what's in my cc you can also come here and delete swatches so you click on the swatch that you don't want for example you don't want airing in blue you just click on remove swatch and then you click on save and the blue option will no longer be in your game so let me just x off of that and that is what is in my cc over here we have my projects and this is anything that i personally have recolored recoloring if you don't know is simply you have i'm going to show you in a bit for example you have a blouse in the sims 4 or top let's use top because that's what they call it there's a green top in the sims 4 that you want to be patterned like you want to have cats on it or you want to be hot pink and the game doesn't give you hot pink you can go ahead and use these options over here to recolor it and then when you do it's going to be in the my projects menu over here now one of the recent things i recolored was a turtleneck a third turtleneck sweater in the sims 4 that was available as a base game item if i click on it right now which i'm doing it's going to show you right so what i did was to get some mauve color off the internet because i entered a competition i needed to have a mob sweater and there was no marvin game so i basically came here and i made a recolor of that item actually guys i don't think it was actually a base game i think it was a downloaded cc that this sweater came from but yeah and this is what it looked like after i recolored it i actually have it in two colors i've been green and i have it in mauve so that's basically what it does just brings you back to the recent stuff that you have edited so i'm going to press cancel it brings me back to the main menu okay now let's get into what these casts and object mean so before you before you do any kind of recoloring let me tell you if it is that you're going to recolor a base game item you don't have to do anything because all the base game will be listed once i click on one of these items here if it is that you're going to be recoloring custom content i know this may sound the way but when you go on a website to download some kind of custom content i can't go anywhere right now because i can't think of a place but let's say you go on what's a creator name let's say you go on x mirror mirror and you download a top you need to download that top twice now i thought it was a joke i thought i could just copy it like if i had it in my mouth full i could just copy and put it in my sims 4 studio mods folder but too so it would show up in sims 4 studio but it turns out that it like when i did it like that it did show up in sims 4 studio but it wasn't and i did recolor it but when i went into game it gave me you know the question mark on the sim which shows that the item is not done properly or it's a broken cc so you definitely have to download it twice whenever you go online you're going to drop one in your mods folder and you're going to drop one in your sims format your sims 4 studio folder which you can find here let me just show you quick and fast you go into documents as per usual and just like how you have electronic arts you're going to have one for sorry my voice is cracking one for the sims 4 studio you're going to go in it you're going to go into mods and you're going to place it in here right so yeah you have to place one here one in your mods folder and this is when you're gonna be able to recolor a custom content item okay great i think we have that okay so now let me tell you what these two items these three items mean i honestly i'm not sure what override means but i think based on what the word says override you override whatever item you have in your game with a brand new one but you don't need to click on that guys this is focus on the top three right here you can use any of these two options to create custom content or recolor custom content so when you click on create cast standalone and you click on cast it's gonna take you here it's gonna list everything that you have in your game and everything that you have in your mods sims 4 studio mods folder right so you can go up here as you can see it has a little bit of um filtering again at the top you can either search for exactly what you want in the search bar if you remember the name for the item or you can specify items that are available to dogs um human gender if you change this to female we're going to get only female identified atoms for the sim for you can change the age to adult or child or toddler part type if you want to be if you're going to be recoloring the top you click on top you only get the tops in the game so it just serves to narrow it down when you're searching to recolor something and in game pack as you can see here if it's on all so if i for example change say for example i saw top that was available in the nifty knitting um nifty didn't stuff pack and that's what i want i don't want to search for it by going through everything i can click on nifty knitting and only lifting in top so show if i click on base game only the base game items will show which is what i usually use to recolor if i just want to add like um print on a shirt or something so as you can see all the blogs are displayed here if i go into content i can either choose game content or custom content and this is when the custom content in my mods folder will show up here so if i click on for example remember we clicked on add create a lo standalone creators create a sim standalone sorry if i click on this blouse right here and i click on let's click on the browse y'all and i click on next yes that's the first step to recoloring something it's going to ask you to name a package file so this is basically gonna be the file that you are able to add to your game with any customizations that you've made so just so we can move on to the next step i'll just name it um tutorial i mean what else would i name it at this point and this is going to save it so as you can see my desktop and it's going to be saved as a package file a kind of file that the game can identify yeah so if i press that it comes up here and you can use your mouse or your what do you call listing your scroll pad on your laptop but you'd have to click on the right hand key and then move on the pad in order to rotate the seam like this it's a bit harder to zoom harder to zoom in and out here so it's better to use a mouse where you can use a scroll pad okay so we're here now let me tell you what these things do so right now we are on white the blouse is currently white this is the swash thumbnail so when you're in the game and you can click on the blows uh this is the one that's gonna be the option for white you know you can click on it it gives you a drop down menu and you can choose the color that you want to change the blouse to so right now we're on white uh these are not really important unless you're gonna be making custom content just always in choice on texture diffuse uh this over here you don't really need to troubleshoot you guys just focus on the swatch thumbnail and right here ensure that's the texture this gives you the png layout of the top and that would be if you're going to recolor something which i can do in a separate tutorial if you guys wish all right and then if you want to add a color of your own to this right here you don't if you for example decide to click on import sorry export and start editing this top you're going to completely override the white color if it is how you want to keep the white color but you just want to add a new color you click on add swatch and number two would come up and then this is the one that you'll be editing now i'm gonna show you something if it is that you've recolored this top and you've made it pink in order to change the color that's shown in the game when you click on more options for the top you simply right click on here and it gives you a dropper tool and you select the color that you want and the thumbnail changes to that color now if it was that you had recolored the blouse you'd simply click on the blouse and not this open screen like i did and it would change it to that particular color and that's all i need to know here now um let me just say this in case i forgot to mention this export button is whenever you selected the top that you want and you decided what you want to recolor this is going to export it in a png file so that you can open it in whatever editing app you have whether it's paint.net um what's that thing called uh photoshop whatever it may be that's what this expert one is for once you've edited the item in any of those apps you're gonna save the png the new png file with your edits on it and then you're gonna come back here you're just gonna click on import and when you do that it's gonna put your new top that you colored right here and you can click simply sorry click on save or if you don't wanna click on save you can click on file and it's like yeah you click click on file and click save as this is when this menu becomes important you click up here and you click on save as and this way you may have saved the file to your desktop before but you can choose save as here and you can save it let me show you if i click save as it gives me options still a package file i can name whatever i want and i can literally now go and locate my sims 4 mods folder and i can literally just save it there so just go here go into your mods and you can save the new file in your mods folder without having to pull it and drop it there so that's what that is for yeah so that's what you do for create cast standalone now what i personally do i find it easier this is just to create a standalone by itself so standalone item by itself for if you click on create 3d mesh this is very helpful it just it literally just does the same thing you guys like i kid you not i personally prefer to create standalone mesh guys i honestly i don't even know what is the difference between these two things create cap standalone create 3d mesh because they both do the same thing like literally they both allow you to create a it will allow you sorry to recolor a top or a bottom or whatever you want for the sims 4. this would be more for someone who is creating an item they want to use for example an item from the base game like a top they want to use it as a base for making a custom content then you choose create 3d mesh but you can also use it for create color i personally prefer to use create 3d mesh for my recoloring as you can see if i press on cast no it's going to take me to the same place and we're going to do the same procedure so honestly you can use either of these two things to recolor top and that's as far as my level is right now as i cannot make custom content let me just be real with y'all and if you select on add cast part swatch you basically click on the top again you name the package file i'm gonna have to do all of these you name the package file it pops up like this and you just add a swatch add a swatch again export the item change the color import item change the color by if you click on here with your left answer left hand side of your what you call this your your your scroll patter whatever then it gives you a range of colors that you can choose for the swatch but i personally prefer to right click because as i said before you can pick the exact color of the top so that you can see whenever you're in game okay so this literally stan stands the same for object this just means that you can recolor any object in your game whether it's candles whether it's a table whether it's a chair you use this as well and as i said before you can just select one of these two options what are you gonna stand you should like standalone recolor or create a 3d mesh it's still going to end up in your game as a package file so you can choose to use either one so i hope this tutorial was helpful i hope it just it got you to understand the sims 4 2 just a little better if you're a beginner and as i said before if you have any requests please don't hesitate don't be shy mention it in the comment section below i will see you guys thanks again for watching bye
