by the way if you liked this video make sure that you actually do like it physically it helps with the YouTube algorithms and you know feel free to drop comments with advice or questions or whatever I usually do my best to answer that and yeah definitely hit that like button for the hater hurt shows up brutal those guys are what's up guys is Zack here so we're gonna show you real quick how we cut these kind of quickly now when I'm this is vinyl siding here it's a four four panel nice and thick Camden point when we pull these numbers we always want to pull from the corner post because this corner post is a lot it's a lot deeper and a tougher tougher number to read if I go inside the Jade channel it's a little bit tougher of a number to read it can be less accurate to us too this always gets hooked in there so we checked it up here too and we we need four of them now how we determined that is just pull down from the J a rough number and I have this line snapped I had it earlier for making my starter so really this is the rebel irrelevant to what we're doing here but so we're pulling off of here and thirty this is double four so this measures eight inches total and four of them so 32 is a is a piece and we know it's we know it's over here somewhere so we're gonna need four of them it's gonna work the same for all this stuff okay so this one was sixty one and a half we went ahead and pulled this number this one's a little bit too big to get this out of two pieces so what we did was he came over here and got this number did the same thing he's gonna cut he's gonna cut those four you can see how he's got it stacked up no had been he's gonna he's going to cut these four here and then he's got it marked right there he's gonna cut the other four so these ones that go right here put the clamp on the far side because he was gonna be cutting off that side so if he just put the clamp right there to hold him nice and tight when he cut it off these ones would have been loose so he so what he did was he put the clamp on that side all right now I'm going to show you some real basic stuff here about how we can get this ladder out of the way about how we get our numbers when we're when we're going see if I got a piece laying around yeah all right so when we're installing siding okay we pull our numbers from the lock and let me tell you why is when you if when you're installing a piece let's pretend this is out in the wide open it'll look closer probably let's pretend this is out in the wide open we're getting ready to lock this in what we're actually paying attention to are these two locks here so a lot of people they always try to pull from the butt and it gets confusing and everything like that with this method that was shown to me when I started it's it's pretty easy to stay consistent to get everybody on the same page okay so this right here measures an inch and a half on this siding sometimes it changes some of them are two inches but this one's an inch and a half meaning the halfway mark is three quarters and that's roughly what we're looking for when we're installing this so when we lock this up you want a 3/4 inch gap so when we're out in the open and we're just slamming siding up and we're sliding it back and forth you don't want it here because then it can't expand and you don't want it here because if it does expand it'll start to pull off so you want to be right in that sweet spot some people just use their finger most of the time you can pretty much just guess it and that's fair enough but I want to show you guys how we how we do this to get our numbers so a lot of people will tell you well if you don't if you don't but this and do all that how am I gonna get my numbers well I'll show you real quick of course I don't have my hammer getting yours like them alright I set tools down all the time so what I'll do is I'll just pound it pound a nail in right here alright now if I want to pull this by myself and this is one of those few times you could pull from the corner too alright so right here normally I will I would pull from the corner alright and I can get my number and I know that I know that this is 136 and 3/4 I just need to add 3/4 of an inch to that and it'll be 137 and a half what and I could get my window numbers from that too but I'm just showing you guys kind of all scenario type of thing here so what I'll do is let's pound that nail in or I'll hook it that's roughly where I want that lock to be so if I pull from the lock on my piece I'm gonna get the same numbers and my lock is gonna go exactly where I want it to go so right here my number is 45 this stuff you can't write on forty five and seventy six and a quarter okay so forty five seventy six and a quarter from the tab and I know my no let's just I'll just do this so you guys can see and my number would have been one thirty seven and a half okay so it's the same thing so my number was forty five and seventy six and a quarter right because I'm trying to forty five what I say seven to six and a quarter five these windows I'm sure are a little bit crooked this house is really old so I'm sure there's never be a little different look probably more or less like that window right there but we can get away with five isn't up so let me get out a full piece out here I know you're probably doing something with it but I'm making a video and I'm uh prepared okay Benjamin alright alright so our number was forty five right now forty five but a lot of times I'll just make the marks right up here okay that that all gets hidden and then seventy six and a quarter all right now we've got an up of five a lot of times what I'll do is uh I'll make my marks before I do this okay and I know that it's gonna be three inches right there on my square it's still the same thing I'm looking for all right that'll be five all the way across now here's a good way when you're working with windows a good way and this was brought to me by one of my employees always stay open to learning okay he brought me this after I'd already been in business for two years I took to it I liked it so if you turn around and look at that window turn around look at that window well we're actually doing to the bottom of this piece is we're gonna save the bottom of this piece right so what we call this is a save all right now when we go up around the top of the window we're going to be cutting out the bottom of the piece so we call that a takeout it's always in reference to the bottom of the piece we either do a save or a take out on the bottom of the piece so right here we're doing a safe at 5 inches some people put their speed square in there some people put 5 right here and do it like this it's usually what I'll do I'll just run this 5 all the way through right and I'll come through I usually snip these first and one thing I forgot to do just because I'm thinking about is I forgot to pull my total number which is something I also do but I'm sitting here teaching in my mind's all over the place so we do that my knife yeah they usually are just like this a lot of people take out the grinder or something you give it a good score it's it's it's a lot more accurate if you score it rather than go through all the way because I can but if your knife wants to run different ways so I usually just score it and this thing just kind of breaks right off ok backwards and then weird you do with them crimpers and your pouch good girl all right so we just crimp it give it a few of them you don't want to you don't got to do too many crimps three on this would be plenty I'll do four for the haterz by the way if you liked this video make sure that you actually do like it physically it helps with the YouTube's algorithms and you know feel free to drop comments with advice or questions or whatever I usually do my best to answer that and yeah definitely hit that like button for the hater hurt shows up brutal those guys are so let me pull this total which was one thirty seven and a half in it wake up remember some people put a speed square on this a lot of people cut this with a grinder all day long you see how quick I just got through that like when you try to set up cut tables and do grinders all day it's a waste of time just working your work area bend over like a man over here we got all the soffit cut already so we cut we took that wood blade I've already set it in another video I haven't I'm real slow on posting these but we use that saw we turn the wood blade backwards it cuts through vinyl and aluminum so we've already got I mean it took it took my most inexperienced guy yesterday about half the day to cut probably half the house and it went nice and simple all right now also with the way that this landed it landed terribly okay this little lip if we try to tuck it into that UT it's gonna look crimped in and ugly all right if you've seen that last window think about how he showed it a second ago what we actually did is we went in between the J and on top of the UT and you have to do that once in a while keep it looking nice see how it's kind of nice and pushed out there so that's slides a little even though this ain't locked there usually that's a good way to check if you're locked in is it doesn't slide right and you want it to have that little bit of wiggle room so we've got a nice little gap there half inch three quarters whatever it is right here it's tight but guess what as long as you put your nails and I'm completely not as long as long as you put your nails in the center here then it still allows it to move you see okay and then also when uh when you're doing this you don't want to sit here some people push up here some people push up here and hold super pressure you want to make sure everybody's on the same page otherwise when it goes down here when you look down your siding you'll see it kind of kind of waving a little bit I'm not pushing it up I'm just basically holding it tight okay that's another sixteen you see what I've been doing on this jobsite absolutely nothing you want to flip these nails you don't want to pound it in otherwise it won't be able to move so as long as you put the nails I knew I was unprepared about something I was like there's no way I got everything on me pass this lip and you won't see it because a lot of times this is where your nails are actually going on a piece below it over time at least when you use in a thinner panel this is a 4/4 like I said it's kind of on the thicker side it's not the thickest by any means but this is a great expensive panel believe me a lot of times you'll see the nails these little nails if someone leaves it out like that you'll start to see little nail heads showing up every so often okay so I'll just finish this off for you guys so you can see and like right here he had to add a bunch of aw it looks like he had to add a bunch of fan-fold so I'm gonna and like I said this is all oh and one other thing too but I see a lot of my guys doing is when they first start out and they're kind of new and of course they don't know how to use hammers and all that stuff yet but when they go to nail they'll get it set up and they'll get it started and then they'll kind of arrange your position and get their hand completely out of the way before they do it you're gonna you're gonna be really slow like that there's no use of adjusting like that so get it started don't take a lot of force to drive a siding now so you don't gotta tap it in and reset up just tap it in get your hand out of the way and you'll be a little bit more efficient as far as your nailing you so here also James over there he's asking for a bunch of pieces at a real small number so what Ben here's done is he's got a bunch of scrap pieces that have just been laying around and he's gonna he's gonna put him put him upright he's gonna clamp them together his clamps over there underneath that tarp and he can get away with not doing it it's kind of a preference thing at least on the bigger pictures you got to use it are the bigger pieces you got to use it so he's gonna pull his number make sure everything's square now we're gonna eat up a bunch of scrap and let me show you where we're gonna eat it up at Boyd Cubs just finishing that over there after he's done cutting that hole cut our 90 something's in the middle and I'm good to go here we did this garage wrap but the problem with this house is everything is and by the way we're replacing this we just kind of tacked it back on for the meantime I just don't have it on the jobsite yet but the big problem with this house is everything is flush so I'm having to put these back bends on everything and I can't believe how sleek that's looking you know what I'm saying and we're obviously gonna talk in the hair but yeah look at that it's nice and sleek out everywhere you can real nice and then here you go here's some of them eaten up them small pieces we added this a little bit of flashing down there to kick that water away from that some Matt alright radio backup oh did you and me both family 16s uphold hell that's the problem of being the diversified roofing and siding crew and everything like that you end up with everything in your pouch
