Short Summer Bob

everyone welcome back to my channel today it's going to be a cut with me hair day and i'm just going to cut my hair i'm not doing really a tutorial per se but i'm just going to cut my hair and you'll see what i do i think i want to go shorter and it's been really hot here in california so i want to take some of the length off and so i wanted to do it with you so let's get started okay so the first thing i'm doing is i'm going to section out my hair here so i'm taking the front part from here and i'm going to put these sides up and out of the way i like to give them a little twist that make sure that nothing comes down while i'm doing that oh these simple type of cuts with when you're just taking off length are very simple and basic and are easy to do at home and you know of course it's always nice to go into a salon i think a part of getting your hair done is going to a salon and getting pampered for the day and having somebody else wash your hair and style your hair for you and chatting it up and i think that it is very therapeutic for some women to get their hair done by their hairdresser so you know but i have always just kind of cut my own hair and even though i do go to the hairdresser and i haven't been to one in a very very long time i just like to do it at home so this is what i do alright so we're just going to take some of that length off and again this is not a tutorial i'm just kind of showing you how what i do with my hair so all right so i'm going to separate the back now if you look in the back here you'll see see you have really super thick hair i suggest you do many sections like you you take up a lot of sections and what i mean by that is let me pull my hair back see that so this would be like a section right there and then you'd take another one underneath that and then you'd go down under here so if your hair is very dense and very thick you'll definitely want to do that i'm going to do my hair in three sections if you have dense hair again go with four or maybe even five sections depending on how dense it is that way your cuts will be nice and level and they won't shift on you your hair is super duper thick and you grab it all at one time and you cut it across and then you're trying to get your scissors through a high density of hair your the the scissors the shears will not actually cut the hair they'll push the hair over and then cut it which will leave you with a crooked line so for more accuracy you definitely want to section it out so i'm going to start down here and i'm going to pull almost all my hair up except for this short section here and then i'm going to pull pull a little bit more down and cut it and then pull a little bit more down and cut it and and i find that just provides you more accuracy and the shears are actually nicely trimming off the hairs to make it even rather than pushing the hair around and cutting and again you'll see here see this part here i'm not sectioning this off very well if you know when you go to your hairdresser and you get your hair trimmed and they do it for you of course they do it because they can see a lot better it's a lot easier but when you're at home you um it's a little bit more difficult to do but can be done easily done so don't be afraid to trim your own hair at home okay so there we go so you can see i have a little bit of curl on my hair i'm just going to use a little water here because i am doing a wet cut today okay so if you're doing a wet cut at home you want to allow for a little bit of shrinkage i would say maybe a half inch of shrink that that way when you choose how far you're going down now see my hair wants to curl a little bit so yeah i like to get it real wet since i don't have two hands and this is a one-handed situation i like to get it really wet and then press my comb down and see that so that it sticks to the back of my neck so i can see where my line is so i'm going to take quite a bit off today and you want to try to keep your your head as level your shoulders as level as possible it's not going to be perfect but it will do and then i like to come around to the front and double check because as you see there's a little bit here that needs to be corrected so we're just gonna fix that so so i've got my fingers pointed down and i'm just going to cut up like that it's going to go down at an angle it's going to give me a little bit more weight up front now we're going to do that on this side ankle here we are after the blow dry so it's got quite a bit of volume which is nice so you don't necessarily need to get layers with this cut but if you'd like to you could bevel the edges a little bit more have your hairdresser could do that i also have a video on that how to do that i will put that down in my description box below you can put a few layers here on the sides if you like or you can layer all of this all the way back if you'd like but it's not necessary you can definitely get some curls out of this without having layers in it if you'd like or you can wear this very straight so i'm going to show you the two ways that you can wear this very universal timeless style the first way is by getting a straightening iron and straightening out your hair as you can see i have a little dip or wave here most of us have some kind of a cowlick or dips or waves in some parts of our hair and then some of us some of you may not have anything like that so this is what is great about the conair pro straightening iron is because you can just iron all of that out and let's make it look a little bit more even so you can wear it nice and straight like this if you prefer that look it's a very classic look i love this look you can also tuck this behind your ears it's very classy you can wear it down on one side and tuck it on the other side you can wear this up in barrettes you can do a little bit of a twist back here where you grab your hair and you twist it and then you pin it up here there are so many looks you can get from a classic bob the way you could wear it nice and straight like that nice and smooth and sleek or you can wear it curly add some curls some waves to it and that's what i'm going to do here i'm going to comb it out a little bit i'm going to add some pantene free hairspray and what this is going to do is give me a little bit more body and it's going to help the curls to hold and i'm just going to go ahead and go back in with my conair pro straightening iron to add some curls to this give the uh hairspray a few minutes to dry and then by pulling it and turning it like so and dropping it down you get beautiful ringlets and i like to do them just around my face but you could do these all the way around the perimeter of this cut and then you've added some curl there now because there's no layers it's very weighty and i like that that was what i wanted to do just drop my comb and then you can take the straightening iron and straighten out the ends just a bit so they lay a little bit straighter but then you have that curl going in there so that's actually how i'm going to wear my hair today so i'm going to go ahead and do that on the other side [Laughter] so all right so that's the finished look not bad at all and that's a simple haircut that you could do at home to take your longer locks up a little shorter so thank you so much for watching as always
