wow what an awesome God we serve and aren't you glad to be alive and well to give Him praise today did you come with a gift did you come with a shout did you come with a praise the Lord on the inside if you did this would be a good moment to just let it go and give it to him turn around and high-five somebody tell em I'm born for this I am born for this I am born for this what a blessing what an honor it is to worship the Lord with you yet again and I'm grateful yeah I can tell everybody that's sitting down has not been here all weekend uh Dell are used to sitting down I want to ask you just remain standing for a moment as we go into the word of the Lord it's a little bit of a custom I like to stand for the reading of God's Word and I tell the people back in America you would stand if the judge was in the room and even if you wrote you a ticket you would still have to stand and so I just asked him you know and you get a blessing for standing in the house of the Lord you know that the Bible said blessed are those who stand by night in the house of the Lord so you're going to get a blessing just for standing today I'm not gonna make you stand the whole day something I don't want to be that blessed but anyway I'm gonna I'm gonna let you sit down in just a moment but I want we're standing I want you to honor your leadership your pastors I have fallen in love with them and and you know this lady right here she is so cute I just want to stick her in my pocket and take her home and she's probably little enough to do that to but I love their passion I love their desire I love the things that they're talking about doing in this church and and where God is taking this church it's such a blessing to be under somebody that has a vision I said it's a blessing to be into somebody if you've never been under a person that didn't have a vision you don't appreciate it but if you ever been under somebody that just kind of thought this was their job and they just did their job there's a complete difference between following someone who does it as a job or as a career and following someone who is a visionary and you are blessed because what God does in this house he is going to do in your house oh I said what God doesn't doesn't this house she's going to do in your house and you know what I just heard him say I heard him say to tell the people this he said tell them that if they praise me in my house I will fix it in their house I don't know what you need God to fix but I'm gonna tell you today if you'll praise him in his house Lord I give you thanks we know you're able to do exceedingly abundantly oh he'll come to your house what a blessing that is and so I honor your passive for for inviting me in giving up this spot on your Sunday morning I know how important that is I very rarely leave my church on a Sunday morning but I am here and I'm grateful to be here I hope you're hungry are you hungry awesome I hope your messy eaters to look at your neighbor tell them I'm a messy eater that means I might step all over you today but I want you to take your Bibles to a very very familiar passage of Scripture and it is simply out of the Psalms chapter 23 Psalms chapter 23 I want to encourage those of you who are Bible study or I don't know if that's a word or not but those of you who study your Bible I want to encourage you to do something that I think will unlock oh maybe in another dimension maybe you already do it I'm sure some of you do but for those of you that don't I'd like to challenge you especially when it comes to a familiar text but I would like to challenge you to not just read your Bible verse by verse but to read it word by word because every word is pregnant with something I said every word is pregnant with something and and sometimes when it's a familiar message the message can become so familiar that we don't listen especially if it's a text that we have heard often this is one of those Texas and so today I want to just take a moment in and just kind of break down this text right here it's funny because whether you're saved or not people people that are not even saved know this passage of Scripture and it's out of Psalms 23 and let's read it the Bible says in 23 verse 1 that the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not once he maketh me to lie down in green pastures and he leadeth me beside the still waters he restoreth my soul he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake and yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my haters oh I'm sorry that's not what it says it says in the presence of my enemies but don't worry about that you have to have everybody has to have a few haters in their life because if you don't have haters you have nowhere forgot to prepare a table so whenever you see the haters coming up in your life just know that is nothing but God setting the table for what he's about to do in your life so when you see haters just rejoice that prepares the table before me in the presence of my enemies thou anointest my head with oil my cup runneth over surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all of the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever surely goodness and mercy shall do what shall follow me all the days of my life it shall goodness and mercy shall follow me look to your neighbor on the right and say neighbor I've got backup look at somebody else and tell them don't underestimate me cuz whatever I mean I'm not in it by myself I've got backup in my life goodness and mercy which means favor and favor shall follow me all the days of my life let's pray lord I love you today and I thank you for your word breathe in place like only you can you know who's here you drew us name by name and face by face I pray Lord that you will speak in this sanctuary today find every hero every person that has pulled their chair up to your table will give your name the glory if you'll talk to us today Lord in the matchless precious most wonderful name of Jesus and the church that a man and a man on your way down to your seat touch somebody and tell him I've got help I've got help I've got help I told the ladies the other night that I'm a character preacher I love to delve into the life's of the people of God I love to study them I like to know what makes them tick I like to know how they become became who they were and one of my favorite characters in all of the scripture is a man by the name of David I love David because he was a worshipper and don't you love David don't you just love to study his life David was he he gave us many songs out of the hundred and fifty divisions of songs David wrote many of them and his writings really are amazing and as I began to study him I found out that if I would just listen to what David says that I would begin to understand number one who he is as a person number two how he coped with the pressures of life and number three how he responded to life itself David is an amazing man he was a military strategist he was a survivor David was articulate when David would say so when David says something and I read it I feel like saying yes God that's exactly what I mean right there because he was just great at articulating his thoughts he was a worshipper he was a warrior he was a man of many diverse talents he I liked him because he was a man that was both tough and tender that's how I like my man I don't want him all tender and I don't want him all tough I would like a good balance right like that and all the women said Amen I like him he was tough enough to go into the enemy's camp bring down a giant by the name of Goliath with his slingshot and his stone and then take his sword and cut his head off of him put it on a platter and carry it around through town showing people this is how you get ahead in life you're slow but you're worth waiting on hallelujah he was tough enough to do that but then he was also tender enough to pick up a harp and play it and sing and worship until every tormenting spirit that was opposing Saul had to loose him and let him go he could drop in the sword and pick up the harp and he could do it on a dime David had the ability to stir up the devil and yet he had the same ability to drive him out at the same time extra extra read all about it you never want to stir him up if you can't drive him out and so David had the ability to do that and they say if you really want to know what's in a man's heart to let him talk and by that you can tell what is going on on the inside as I was reading Psalm 27 I found out a lot about David it says that they said in Psalms 27 the Lord is my light and he is my salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid listening to David right there I come to a little bit of an understanding about him I know that he knows what it's like to walk through dark seasons simply by what he says right there I also know that he knows what it's like to be in a fight on occasions you can also clearly understand when you read on down I think it's in verse 10 you can understand that David knows what it's like to have family issues anybody have family issues I know what that's like David knew what it was like to because he said when my father and my mother forsake me it is the Lord that will take me up and you understand that he knows what it's like and if you read on down into Psalms 27 and 13 you will understand that though David appears to be a very strong man we understand that he admits how vulnerable that he is by using through words and those three words were I would have fainted and would have fainted that's what he said is there anybody in the audience today that would be audacious enough to admit that there have been times in my walk with the Lord that I would have if it wasn't for him I and you know I think it's so funny because people they can't tell by looking at us that we are that vulnerable and that we almost fainted they they don't know that if one more thing would have come against us that we might have flipped out and we might have quit and we might have thrown in the towel they don't know that we might have just killed ourselves or we might have just killed somebody else for that matter they do not know that and they don't know that had we not decided to believe to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living not just when we get to heaven but in the land of the living in the earth in the right now they don't know that had we not prayed for ourselves and spoke the word over ourselves that we would have never made it and we would have never survived look at somebody and just be honest and tell them I would have fainted I would have fainted but I just prayed and I believe that God would allow me to see his goodness in the land of the living David taught us so many things he taught us how to pray he told us how to worship he taught us how to praise he taught us how to wait on the Lord he said wait on the Lord and be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart men's hearts are failing them today for fear but if we would just learn how to wait on the Lord not like a waiter not like waiting at the bus stop but I'm talking about waiting on him like a waiter would wait on the table you know and you're like hey God what do you need today what can I do for you do you need a song do you need a praise is there anything that I can bring to you today that wouldn't minister to your heart David has given us a wealth of information however to me there is nothing that is more impact fold that he is written like this twenty-third songs that's probably because David himself was a shepherd oh and he was a good shepherd too he would he would take he was faithful in his assignment he was faithful to be where his pastor I mean where his father I mean where his pastor where his father had placed him he was faithful at what he was doing even when nobody was looking see that's how you know somebody's faithful when you do what you do and you do it right even when nobody can tell that you are doing it wrong that she could not tell on him but nonetheless he did what was right he watched after his father's sheep and by the way may I tell you sheep have got to be watched after I learned a lot when I went to New Zealand me because that is sheep country and so I began studying sheep and I learned that there's a lot about sheet that we need to know I learned that they have little bitty teeth so they're not known to be carnivorous because their teeth are so small they're not necessarily meat eaters and I also learned that because of that they don't fight for prey and they don't take advantage of a smaller species I've learned that they they are not all that great at defending themselves and on top of all of that I learned that sheep have a very small head they have a very small head because they have a very small brain and because they have a very small brain they have a very small thinking capacity therefore they are not the most intelligent animals that God has ever made as a matter of fact they are quite really dumb they don't build nests like a bird would build they don't spin a web like a spider they don't roar like a lion they don't growl like a bear they don't produce smoke like a cow or they don't grow ivory like an elephant would grow they are really small little dumb animals that need someone to take care of them y'all look at me like I'm talking about you as sheep I'm not I'm talking about the sheep in New Zealand touch your neighbor and tell him get off for her she's not talking about you daddy is unless the shoe fits if the shoe fits you got to wear it and uh but now I'm cheesy I'm not talking about you but see sheep have a they have a tendency they have to be watched because they have a tendency to stick their nose in stuff that they have no business sticking their nose they also have a tendency to wander off course from time to time and they will go into dangerous places they also have a good heart but they also do silly things like make friends with rattlesnakes and didn't they fool around and get bit by the thing that they had just made a friend with and and they do that because they have very little discernment and because they have little discernment they walk around in the field totally oblivious to the fact that there is a wolf that is right in their midst and the next thing you know they are devoured by something that they didn't see coming look at your neighbor tell him I didn't see it coming I didn't see it coming they also have a few behavioral issues okay they drink from places that they should not be drinking from and they eat from places that they should not be eating from men they get into waters occasionally that are way too deep for them they get caught up in things that are moving too fast and if the shepherd does not help them then they drown because unlike fish they don't know how to swim and if they're not careful they get swept up in current things I mean swept up in the currents of things they they get swept up and they're carried downstream they are they are very vulnerable animals and they are often taken advantage of because of their vulnerability and because of the the fact that they have little short legs and and and they can't run very fast they do get taken advantaged of they are they not only have short legs they have little beady eyes and because of that they cannot see very well so their vision is impaired you can't ride them because their leg are so little and because they can't take much weight if you put too much weight on them they're going to collapse because they can't really carry the weight and they break under the load they break under pressure and it is two sheep that David has been assigned to sheep that I have been assigned it is to shape that your posture has been a sign David David I love him because he doesn't talk so much about himself as being a shepherd as he does talk about the Lord being the shepherd he doesn't talk a whole lot about the sheep either because like I told you they are dumb little black nearly blind undiscerning animals with behavioral issues and so he doesn't talk a whole lot about them so rather than exploiting the weakness of the sheep he decides he's going to glorify the strength of the shepherd I told you he was articulate so he opens up songs 23 with the words the Lord is my because that sounds a whole lot nicer than saying I am the shepherd of dumb undiscerning stinking sheep and they need me to survive David has a way with words and the first phrase that he opens up and says to us he says I want you to understand that the Lord is my shepherd and because he is my shepherd I shall not want see the reason I'm not going to want is because the law is not about me it's because the Lord is my shepherd because of that I shall not want hit somebody and tell him I shall not want that means I'm not going to live with a void with an egg with an agony that is going on inside of me I'm not going to live live my life in lack I'm not going to live my life feeling like I have this emptiness on the inside of me I I choose not to I choose not to feel like something is missing I'm not gonna feel like I've been deprived I'm not I feel like I've been robbed of something in life because the Lord is my shepherd and since he is my shepherd I shall not want not your neighbor and tell him I'm not going to do it I'm not going to do it y'all ain't telling nobody tell him I'm not going to do it I'm just not I don't care who comes in my life I don't care who walks out of my life the Lord is my shepherd so I'm not going to want and if you decide to forfeit your space in my life I'm still gonna be alright because he will fill it up and if you tear my heart into a thousand pieces on your way out I'm still gonna be alright because he's the mender of broken hearts and he knows how to bend my life back together again aren't you glad to know you have a shepherd hit your neighbor tell him I have a shepherd I'm glad to know that I'm glad to know that if you walk out and leave me he will stay I'm glad to know that if you won't help me if you won't teach me if you won't educate me if you will not be there for me if you won't love me or defend me or stand with me if you will not be a friend to me it's awesome to know that I have a shepherd and he will even though you won't hit somebody and tell him he's got your back so therefore whatever I give me a monitor please therefore whatever I may have wanted I do not want it anymore because when I got him I got everything in my personal prayer it's been this for many years lord help me not to want anything you don't want me to want help me not to need anything that you don't need me to need oh he is my shepherd so everything I need I have simply because I have him he's bread when I'm hungry he's water when I'm thirsty he's joy in times of sorrow he's hope for my tomorrow he's my direction in life he's my keeper he is my bright light in a dark place he's a friend to the friendless he is a father to the fatherless oh the Lord he is somebody say the Lord is my shepherd say it again the Lord is my shepherd you know what I love about that it doesn't say that the Lord used to be my shepherd or that the Lord will be my shepherd but the Lord he is right here right now in audacious church the Lord he is whenever you're placing the Lord is my shepherd that means I've got somebody watching out for me that means I've got somebody watching over me that means I am I am protected that means that he'll have my back even when people don't have my back so therefore tell all of my enemies tell every assassin that would try to assassinate me tell every person that's waiting for me to fail tell every person that's waiting for me to give up and throw in the towel and become their prey that they might as well move on and get a life because I am NOT going to do that because I have a shepherd I'm not doing it today I'm not doing it tomorrow because I have a shepherd I have a shepherd therefore I'm not alone I know I'm not out there facing the elements by myself I'm not out there in the eye of the storm alone no I might live alone I might eat alone I might shop alone I might sleep alone but but when I lay down at night rest assure that I am never alone there may not be anybody else in the house but he's there he's the greatest roommates you could ever had I said he's the greatest roommate you could ever have because he comes to gears and not necessarily it's a take look at somebody and tell him I need to introduce you to my roommate he is my shepherd he is my keeper he's my companion he's my sounding board when I don't know what to do I talk to him and as I talked to him he talks back to me he is my confidant he is my counselor when I don't know which way to turn when I don't have money to speak to a psychiatrist or a psychologist I lay down on the altar and say talk me through it God just talk me through it if you'll show me where to put my foot next Lord I won't walk in your ways he is my see I didn't say you were my shepherd I said he is mine you could not be my shepherd because you have little short legs like I have and you have a limited vision like I have you make dumb decisions it's like I do sometimes you are a sheep you are just like me that's why it's foolish for us to idolize people because they are just like we are every doctor needs a doctor every lawyer needs a lawyer every preacher needs a preacher every teacher needs a teacher oh but he is different he is my shepherd he is a different species he is my god whoa shepherd see further I said Shepherd see further and they run faster would you take a second right now and help me praise him for being your shop amen sit down you're eating up my time tell somebody next to you the Lord is my and in monitor the Lord is my shepherd he is my shepherd he's my shepherd and because he is my shepherd I shall not want I thank him for the first subscription we don't hear it preached a lot in America I don't know if you preach it a lot over here but there is a verse of scripture scripture that has really touched my life and it's the verse that says godliness with contentment equals great game well what does that mean that means sometimes you can do more by actually doing less when you understand that the Lord is your Shepherd he is my shepherd and so therefore I shall not one I shall not want because he makes me to lie down in green pastures i I want to thank him today for helping me to learn the art of being happy where I am being content where I am being godly like where I am I I thank him for all that he has in store for me but if it never happens in my life and I never embrace it I will stop and thank him for what I have and for how far that he's brought me from I thank him for helping me how to not get caught in the comparison trap you know the trap that that says I gotta compare myself to you or I gotta compare myself to you that's not fair I can't beat you I can only be me Oh the comparison trap is painful the comparison trap means you live in the land of her you know what that means that means you are you're in this land where you're living and and you get frustrated because there's always gonna be somebody cute her than you are there's always gonna be somebody whose husband is finer than yours is there's gonna be somebody who who lives in a house that's bigger than yours is there's always gonna be somebody who's skinny jeans are skinnier than yours are look at somebody tell him don't live in the land of ur I thank him for teaching me I don't have to compare myself with anybody else he tells us that it is unwise to do that I thank you for teaching me not to be anxious for anything how I can rest in the fact that what God has for me is for me it will come to my house it will come to my life it will come to my address it will not come to your house you cannot sign for what belongs to me oh I'm so grateful about that I am grateful that God taught me and he began to show me how to have rest when I didn't have enough sense to rest myself I'm thankful that he taught me that I don't have to answer every phone call some calls you just look at and say are you going to the voicemail today I thank him to teaching me I don't have to respond to every email sometimes I look at him I think mmm that ain't even worth the energy for me to respond to I thank you for teaching me that I don't have to respond to every text message y'all better help me here because if you're not careful you'll spend your life responding responding to everybody except God help us Jesus I appreciate him for teaching me I don't have to play games I thank him for teaching me that he doesn't need another human sacrifice that Jesus paid it all for everybody so I don't have to get in everybody's crisis and try to straighten it out I don't have to fix every crisis I'm gonna save my strength for my assignment oh he made me to lie down in green pastures he leads me beside the still waters every now and then I pause and I thank him for leading me away from things that move too fast for me hmm there were things that I that could have swept me away that could have taken me under that could have pulled me out that could have broke my focus I think him for helping me to understand that certain jobs we're not good for me even though that they might have been lucrative for me it might have caused me to lose my focus or lose my family or lose my church family and so God will shut a door and it and if it looked crazy like why why would you why why would that shut it looks like it could be better but at the end of the day God knows us and he says I don't want you to be distracted I thank him for leading me away from relationships that were too much for me you know relationships that just you're the one that's always giving it's you you you you you and nothing is ever reciprocated to you if you are in those kind of relationships after a minute if nothing comes back it is a sign that you need to break away from that because real love will reciprocate oh I thank him for teaching me that relationship was not for you because if you get involved in that it will take you down a path that might set you off course for six months Oh aren't you glad ain't nobody got time for that look at somebody next to you telling me nobody got time for that I thank you for teaching me that there is a rhythm to life but there is a blessing I I thank him for teaching me the importance of a blessing and and and to know that when I have it I don't have to go make a blessing I just thank God for the blessing there is a rhythm that you tap into where you live and you have strength and you enjoy the life that he gave you he said he didn't he did not say I have come that you might earn a living he said I have come that you might have life well he leads me beside the still why see because when the brook when the brook moves too fast if the Sheep has its head in the water the next thing you know it's wool becomes heavy therefore it can be it can be sucked in by the currents and so when the wall is heavy and and the Sheep gets sucked in it's a problem has anybody in here ever got sucked into anything I'm gonna lift up my head sucked in this stuff stuff you didn't even have time to pray about or stuff you didn't make time to pray about it's probably what I should say sucked in before you knew it sucked in before you could even think your way through it yes whether you told me you did or not you did this sucked in and you got think you were in over your head before you could even think twice I know that you have because when you get in those situations we all pray the same prayer we are like God I am so sorry I don't know how in the world that I found myself in this but I promise you God if you will get me out of this I will never allow it to happen again in my life he leadeth me beside the still waters he restoreth my soul David taught us that a soul has to be restored whenever your so weary your weary soul has got to be restored when what is what is a weary soul it's when weariness gets down inside of you it gets in your will it gets in your intellect it gets down in your emotions you might sleep but when you get up you're just as tired as you are when you lay down because your soul is weary its weary and so he but the Bible said that he makes me to lie down in green pastures and he restoreth my soul what does a weary soul look like it looks like a car that is polished up on the outside absolutely beautiful but if you open up the hood there's corrosion and rust and all kinds of stuff that's going on in the battery and and up underneath the hood look at somebody and say what's going on under your hood today oh you're scared of your neighbour I can tell I can tell you're scared of them look at somebody and tell him what's going on under your hood it's like a car that has been polished but now it's shiny on the outside but it's messed up on the inside it needs restoration not just outwardly but it needs inward restoration the Bible said that he somebody say he he restorer s that means over and over again God will restore our soul do you know that only God has the power to restore a soul your best friend cannot do that for you only God he restoreth my soul that's why we need to forgive people who were not there for us they could not be there they could not do it only God so we need to go back to people and say you know I'm so sorry I'm so sorry because I did this whole thing wrong I'm sorry for trying to make you my Savior I'm sorry for trying to get you to replenish me I was confused I was off oh but I'm better now then and now that I'm better I realized that I have a savior I realize I don't need you to be my Savior and I don't need you to be my hero sneak ah cuz he restoreth my soul he restoreth my so I'm grateful that I serve a God who could restore my soul and then he goes on and says it's rod and his staff they comfort me what is the rod the rod is what he used to be back my enemies some I could see some I was oblivious to but his rod would beat back every enemy that would come to devour me and then it says in his staff what does this staff do his staff is what held me up sometimes I am standing not because I am good at standing I am just standing because he is good at holding me up has God ever held you up he just held me up and in what I love about the staff is the staff has a hook on the end of it so that when I got my head stuck into things into places that it should not have been what the Shepherd would do is he would just reach out and hook me up and pull me out of stuff now I don't you don't have to tell nobody what he actually hooked you up and pulled you out of but if you know that you know that you know that God pulls you out of some things that you could not get out of yourself you ought to clap your hands and say hallelujah pulled you out of stuff he said there's nothing in that for you you will waste your strength you will waste your resources you will waste your passion God will hook you up high-five somebody and tell him he hooked me up he hooked me up and I'm getting ready to close the Lord is my shepherd he hooked me up because he got a plan for my life even when I didn't have a plan he said you are mine I have marked you I've chosen you so I came through things that I shouldn't have been able to come through he brought me out through some things that I should not have gotten out of but he did that because he is my shepherd and he has a plan for my life and then people wonder why we wake up early and come to church on Sunday morning you just don't know what I like I know what the Lord has done in my life I owe him everything so when I come to church I come bringing him and I owe you everything praise you know what that is it's like Lord I just owe you everything I know I owe you everything I don't even know how to articulate how much I owe you oh but I owe you everything sometimes I come tired sometimes I come weary and sometimes I come like I'm not gonna give him all that today cuz I'm tired next thing you know my hands are in the air because I owe him everything he's everything to the story in my life he's everything well look at your neighbor and say neighbor if you have a story you all got a praise you all in a praise well then he gets down to the end and he says you simply says the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want he makes me to lie down in green pastures he restoreth my soul then he gets for this verse and says yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death oh the shadow of death well the good what is the shadow of death here's what you need to know the shadow of death the good news is it's it's not death it's just a shadow death will cast a shadow but wherever there is a shadow means that there is also a light it is the light that creates the shadow so whenever you feel the shadow of death that comes over you and what's so funny is you don't really feel it do you get a little bit older you're totally totally oblivious to it when you were young that's why you'll drive down the street a hundred miles an hour or whatever you call them real drive fast and reckless and crazy when you're twenty but when you get 80 you don't do that because you've got some sense okay you got some sense when you get 80 but the shadow of death is more real to you the truth of the matter is we've lived with it all of our lives I was born with the shadow I got married with the shadow I had my children with the shadow it's always been there but I've learned I have to live despite the shadow I have to laugh despite the shadow I have to walk on despite the shadow and I've got to love life despite the shadow hit somebody tell him live anyway live anyway it doesn't matter what the doctor said you got to live anyway don't die before you die leave he shall I have come that you might have life play Chris I've been under shadow my whole life you have to you don't know it no till you start getting over when you older when you when you go to stand up and your knees say oh the shadow becomes more real when you watch the young kids dance in the church and you go to do it you're like oh I better not do that yeah it's the shadow we fight the shadow you know I wouldn't have facelifts we're fighting the shadow you know why we have Botox to get rid of the I don't have a wrinkle right here okay I have a ditch I have a straight-up ditch right here cuz I look like that all the time you know why we do that because we're fighting the shadow you know why we get on our dread mint it's a treadmill I call it a dreadmill you know why we get on it cuz we're fighting the shadow you know why we sit up at night late in America and we watch infomercials and they say if you will take one of these capsules once every day for the next seven days you will lose 50 pounds and and now we will give you two bottles for the same price and everybody in the house is sound asleep and you're looking for your credit card oh thank you Jesus you know why we do that we're fighting the shadow you know why we have tummy tucks we're fighting the shadow you know why men get in the gym and workout and lift weights it's because we're fighting the shadow you know why women wear clothes that are too young for them did I say that have you ever been shopping and you just look at people and be like mm-hmm you know that belongs in your daughter's closet I want to tell them I just want to say you need to go home and take that off and give it back to your little girl does that belongs to her boo me and my girls when we're out shopping and we see somebody like that we look at each other and go - you know what that means too late honey put that away it's too late okay there might have been a day but this is not that day ain't nobody got time for that right there you know why they do it is cuz they're fighting the shadow just imagine how much money you would have right now in your bank account if you got back all of the money you spent trying to fight the shadow covering up this and covering up that because we don't want our neighbors to know that we really had these issues but what it's so funny is our neighbors have the same issues that we have the shadow affects everything about your life but the comforting thing to know today as I close is that no matter how dark the shadow because I couldn't get cold in the shadow you can get lonely in the shadow we can get dark in the shadow but the comforting thing about it he tells us is that he's with me and if you like me I'm always saying god I can take anything if you're with me as long as I know that you're with me whatever I got to go through I can go through I just can't go through it without you thank you Lord for being in the shadow with me thank you Lord for walking me through the shadow thank you for talking me through the shadow thank you for helping me through the struggle in my life oh the good news church is the shadow cannot hurt you because over 2,000 years ago he took stay out of death he took victory out of the crane and it might threaten you but it cannot hurt you and the good thing is that he said don't sit down we're done jump back up jumper him the good thing that he said to us is surely goodness and mercy look at somebody and tell him I think I'm being followed surely goodness and mercy shall follow me that means when I feel like quitting and I feel like fainting goodness and mercy are behind me saying hang in there Sheryl hang in there get back up God has been good to you you have a shepherd whatever your face you are not facing it by yourself my shepherd slap somebody next to you and tell him I got back up got back up pastor wherever you are
