Sherp Adventure in the City! Amphibious ATV is Unstoppable?

[Music] this week we set out to take the world's most capable off-road vehicle through boston massachusetts via river now we have no idea if the coast guard's just going to be totally cool with us being there or if we will be escorted away by police but there's only one way to find out so let me introduce you to the crew of the first charles river sherp adventure first up we have the professional flute player himself steven from the youtube channel rich rebuilds and of course the proud sherp owner uncle rich the master fabricator ethan from grind hard plumbing company and the tesla geniuses chad and brian from electrified garage then we have your narrator your editor and recreational boat driver edwin this is just for you oh hell yeah oh thank you yeah these eye pop they match your shirt i just kind of assumed we got you some arm floaties all right we got everyone tomorrow now i just need a bowl of fruit loops and i'm like ready rich i gotta ask how you uh rank with your neighbors here oh i'm the i'm the alpha man [Laughter] alpha for most hated person in the universe yeah we all know they are um i was the first the first one here so see that they know the deal uh not that long and not that's this deep okay no way in hell we've gone this deep and when you were like a swampy pawn nothing like like nine feet at most so this is kind of breaking ground here yeah this is uncharted that's the manual pump because we have manual pump so we have to rely on this if we're going down we're all in trouble yeah are we bringing them no one can arrest us if we have a puppy on board right exactly right no we have sun protection this is recommended i think we're good i always wanted like like the mandatory stuff isn't item items in red maybe require some states so this is black and white yeah this seems like it's those things the first aid kit seems mandatory anchor [Music] this this is like it's like a spectacle everyone just freaks out over like what the hell is that no one knows what it is yeah no it's stuffy uh attention grabbing for sure probably more than a lamborghini i'd say i would say so it's just so bizarre we're literally i come up with the plans we speak so basically once we get there uh we need one person on each strap i'm gonna start the shirt uh let's see that's four people on the straps we have me and the thing we need one other person for a lookout i guess we need to scram as quickly as we can and then yeah we run into the water do a quick scout take some pictures then we come back to the rest of the team okay that's the goal and if things go really wrong we abandon the rest of the team and just keep pulling out the road we'll meet you at seaport yeah i mean yeah meet at seaport no seriously that's a good point we should have like a rendezvous all i know is yesterday stephen was telling me when we get to the ocean when we get to the ocean and then i talk to you and you're like there's no way we're getting to the hospital yeah we have blocks we can go through the box and that will be that will not be the last helicopter we see i don't think so or maybe we're blowing out a proportion maybe this isn't that big of a deal maybe this is a casual trip with a bunch of guys in a ukrainian tank in boston harbor [Music] [Music] is this what you thought you'd see this morning take a couple pictures of me absolutely it's wild snacks there you go let's get some air in there yeah baby why not right that's that's the whole here we go all right let's go a nice day in the boston harbor floating away oh what the heck man so we are dead in the water and to make this worse the bridge is coming up right there so we got to get running before we run into the bridge because that just doesn't sound fun at all but we're going to figure this out we're with some of the best youtube mechanics in the business yeah we're all youtube mechanics here we could figure it out we can figure this out yeah [Music] well i mean it only drained a few drops out should it drain more than that like should it just keep draining oh yeah that thing should be full we're coming in right on the bridge will we go through to safety do we float all the way over here oh yeah we're either getting the cement wall or the bridge to safety that's so funny let's get it girl let's get it [Music] maybe we'll go to the ocean after all we're going so it looks like we're gonna make it past this one no problem but we are headed straight for that piling all right well what do you think stephen the people that do the graffiti here are very committed oh shoot hurry get the flute how is this this river i don't see a whole lot of people swimming i'm not from here but people don't seem to be swimming i don't think you should ever swim on this river i do not endorse this in any way shape or form probably there's a lot of people here i no one's swimming i probably need a tetanus shot quite frankly i think that's what's going on is it that bad sounds like you're swimming my friend yeah it does going in boys is that what has to happen yeah yeah somebody's gonna tie us up before we get too far away we got toucan sam here so we're just gonna have to do what we have to do how does it feel steven is gonna tie us off to shore and uh i have no idea what we're gonna do after that but at least we won't be floating towards the ocean so that is a plus [Music] [Music] these nice gentlemen are gonna tow us to safety we are good to go heading to safety thanks for the good folks driving the dilly dally dilly dally for the rescue we're getting reached there we go there's our boy so is that your first time in this river yeah actually it is i don't know how i feel about that i think i need to go to the doctor or something i think uh waiting for the boat is the move if we get stranded again yeah for sure oh no now we're on the shore we can drag it like a puppy well we found our problem the gatorade is the wrong mixture well no this is not gatorade anymore this is uh what's supposed to be our fuel and if you look closely at the bottom you can see a layer that's kind of a different color and consistency yeah that's water that is some nasty water that's steven yeah and how many gallons is this fuel tank like 20 or something yeah yeah so out of 20 gallons of fuel or something i mean we only pumped like 20 ounces here but that percentage is a hell of a lot of water in the fuel tank so the plan is we're gonna see if we can get a gallon can of diesel that's fresh and clean and just make a gravity feed system so we'll just stick a dress fuel line hose straight into the can of diesel and just uh run it off of that and somebody will just hold the can or we'll ratchet strap it in place because the whole fuel tank is contaminated it needs to be drained and fuel filters replaced but we don't have the time or the facilities to do that you know in the water so the plan is make a makeshift fuel can [Applause] do you happen to have bigger cans no that's the only size beers oh that's adorable it is pretty cute one gallon so they can get three gallons all right and that's uh sold out so apparently none of these gas stations in boston have diesel so we have to leave the city get diesel in our cans and come back here so this will be an interesting time for sure [Music] so we spend half an hour getting to a diesel pump and it doesn't even pump what is this we've got our uh brand new fresh can of diesel this is our entire gas tank right now it's this little baby one gallon can so we'll see if it'll run let's see what happens we got the motor from 20 gallons to one yeah let's get without water in it oh yeah yes that's how it's done yes let's go all day now let's go we got three gallons baby [Music] [Music] the problem was water in the diesel and water is not combustible so uh no run uh the solution is this is now our fuel tank super high tech yes and very far away from the water and uh this is our breather hole so that we can let air in as the fuel comes out so very high-tech and then these are our spares so our fuel tank is these three cans so we just have to unscrew the lid switch it like i could probably switch it while it's running [Music] here we go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i got it for him [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so we got out without a hiccup we even found parking right next to harvard we're going for a bite to eat it's a good day so far [Music]
