to do to keep them busy for you it's no secret that you are a businessman has that filled the void for you or was there a hurry even avoid it's always a void because it's all about fulfilling challenges so almost didn't have a plan because I retired a year too early mm-hmm so I went to Boston on a two-year deal I noticed at the end of my career I was just gonna play with Paulin guys just to see if I can help put on last year I was going through the whole Shaq tour thing had it set up party and every we had to promoter and every sit had it all set up Shaq tour in every city make a little money on the side you know appearances and parties and all that stuff had the career-ending injury said to myself I'm old I don't want to do the whole rehab thing and try to be the great Shaq player because one thing I am well myself as I'm honest I'm a shag when I'm not Shaq Shaq is not Shaq when he's averaging seven eight nine points that's not Shaq I can still entertain and do stuff to make people giggle but that's not Shaq I'm robbing the people I'm robbing and Celtics you only pay me a million I don't feel right I'm not coming back here's your money back sir thank you very much I want to be remembered eyes and growing up in a military family father see he always got to look a man or woman in her face and be honest and I felt like I was robbing I don't feel right like doc to I wanted to help Paul because Paul was one of my favorite players and I love kg so I wanted to play with them come and do all I can just to help them get one would be number five for me and that's what I was I was trying to do I said okay I got four just let me try to go play with you know a couple of teams stack the deck see what I can do but I didn't feel right 6 points 8 points and 9 points you know I did what I did got acclimated with the city worked hard you know and then Boston is a town when they appreciate it when you work hard they saw that I was giving up giving it my own thank you baby they knew that and so when I told my Achilles and Danny said amen once you come back I was like I felt like I was robbing I could have took the low one five and did a little you know six months to try to come back but now I don't want to waste people's time you know take the one five and see if you can you know get you get you another player somebody better but the only thing I regret about that is I wanted the farewell tour because I could remember watching the farewell abdul-jabbar tour and I was like wow I wasn't saying I wanted that but it was just so beautiful it's just so nice to just go around the city and hear people step tell stories and I know in every arena there's a story to tell about Shaquille O'Neal I wanted that yeah I did for you I did I wanted that so like when I was saying Dewayne and Derek and then I was like so I said okay let me take a year off because based on what I was doing I know I I knew I had stuff to fall back on like I always wanted to do a restaurant you know way so I'm down that alley live and lastly vacant oh that's my yeah how much okay cool pay to rent out for a year let us sit I don't even have a plan for that restaurant no no I thought cuz I call the realtor said I how much alright but we're not gonna go show I'm gonna pay it off for the year maybe your first time for me he's a shack oh you can't recycle myself oh nice I keep shocked I love you I'm not gonna charge you full price since you since you gonna pay it off for the air give you 15% oh I will appreciate that sir so now okay going here what's the competition like all right all right across the street all right I already got five restaurants in Vegas so I'm in the restaurant business and put our guys together I got the space do what y'all do and we can look that won't you won't you name Shaquille's I'm like what if people don't like me no but I'm just saying I'd like to I like to go left and right what he don't like that's big of you to know though I'd rather do business succeed than to have my name on it I was like I said no we're naming at this and that's it and it's been very very successful so when I was young I used to get punished for every athletes mistake punished hard if you made a mistake know if a professional athlete made a mistake then you would get punished yes what do you mean because my father would always come in and stop my discipline off if you ever look right so if you ever hit a woman I'll kill you go to the room the worst spanking I got ever was Len Bias you know they're buddies so my father came in house fuming he had tears in his eye because he was a sports guy and every young kid that made it was his son and the reason why you felt that way because he was already raising other people's sons he was a juror sergeant so he'd get 1819 Yoder's and he was raising them so when you give a kid they come from the same area that's made to the NBA that's his son so I'm one of them buyers passed away if you ever do drugs I will kill you and that's why I don't I don't do drugs or drink mm-hmm if you ever drink and drive so Lester so I was able to learn from everybody's mistakes so you'll be able to sit My father didn't beat me but legit Len Bias is the biggest reason I never did drugs either. No early draft pick has ever walked into a better situation. They were defending champs. One night with drugs cost him everything. It scared me straight. His mom came to our school and spoke and I was friends with his brother who died early too. So sad.
