at the 2024 sujo Diamond League meeting we once again had a front row seat to some of the best athletes in the world for track and field in the 400 m we saw Mar lady Pino from the Dominican Republic win her second straight Diamond League race over the one laap distance this time clocking a slightly slower time of 50.89 over in the men's 100 we had another Clash of The Titans with Christian Coleman battling against Fred Curley however with a pretty significant upset we saw a con sine of South Africa take down last week's winner Christian Coleman with a pretty crazy finish to win in 10.01 and over in the women's discus it was all Valerie alond once again breaking yet another meeting record with a massive throw of 69.8 6 M taking down her competition by more than 2 and 1/2 meters on this day it has been a very exciting couple of weeks in track and field and with a professional athlete it's now getting their Seasons underway we are seeing more and more number one ranked performances in the world but for today one of the most anticipated matchups was the women's 200 M which featured none other than shakeri Richardson from the United States now in last week's Diamond League installment we talked about Shaker's amazing 2023 where she won the World Championships set a new personal record and broke the world championship record at 10.65 seconds all in the same race this really was was a huge moment for shakeri that catapulted her name even more into the international Spotlight but so far in 2024 her campaign has not started quite as quickly as many expected as her outdoor debut included a second place finish in the 200 M at 22.99 more than 1 second away from her personal record and it also placed her behind Tor Lewis from Australia who won last week's race in 22.96 with this 200 met debut now behind her Richardson is now looking for her next race to Showcase her speed and she's also looking for some racing revenge on the track but she will once again be matched against very solid competition including Tanisha Terry Navia battle mujinga kouji Tamara Clark and the rising Sprinter Daryl Anita from Great Britain whose personal record stands at 22.16% and prove her world championship status today after a fair start it was Daryl Nita on the outside Lane with a very hot start but she was followed pretty closely by shakeri Richardson and mujinga kongji on the inside but by the halfway point it was all darl n this was a dominant opening 100 and she also proved to have the strength to match over the second half and there was simply nobody that was going to catch her on this day and darl took a convincing win over the this 200 M with a finishing time of 22.6 2 now finishing in second was a Navy of battle in 22.99 and finishing in third place was shakeri Richardson in 23.11 this was a solid first place performance from Daryl neita who powered away from everyone with relative ease here but finishing in third with an even slower time than last week was Shaker Richardson now after last week's race a lot of people pointed out the Richard time was nothing to worry about it was her season opener she wasn't looking for an allout performance she was across the world from her home track and she also more or less shut it down over the final 20 M I did notice these things and I understood that it was true not all races are meant to be a 100% effort but it's also important to point out that in last week's race she had a negative headwind of 0.4 m/s but to see this kind of thing happen again this time with no headwind and a clocking outside of 22 seconds this is a little bit alarming according to World Athletics shakeri has not run a 200 met race outside of 22 seconds since July of 2020 and this was during the height of the pandemic when athletes were mostly running races just to run them not necessarily for a world class time so the fact that we are seeing this kind of running at this stage is definitely concerning but it's also crucial to remember that chary is training through these early months months and the primary goal is certainly to Peak during the Paris Olympics so let's all stay patient and Trust the process moving forward at the moment this is the top 10 ranked women's 200 list in the world for 2024 with Gabby Thomas from the United States on top Julian Alfred in second and in a very interesting position we have Tamara Clark in third with The Season's best of 22.2 one and the reason that this is so interesting is because Tamara Clark actually placed fourth in this race meaning that perhaps this track was just rather slow and the athletes were not meant to run a fast time either way we are still waiting to see many of the Heavy Hitters return to the track in 2024 and these include many of the Jamaican Legends such as sharica Jackson Elaine Thompson Hera and shelan Fraser price who is set to run her final Olympics in 2024 however we are still 3 months away from the Paris games so there is so much action left to take place and with all this in mind I now want to hear from all of you what do you think about this 200 met race and what do you think about Shaker Richardson's time do you think we should be concerned do you think she's just trusting the process or do you think she just needs a little bit more time to get her season going thanks for watching everyone and as always until next time
