lifetime and this event of course has gone on a notch since she won those two olympic titles back in 2016. talu and asha smith have both improved immeasurably in lane one from the china champion silver medalist in doha last month michelle from trinidad and tobago still the commonwealth games champion from last year very very consistent last year in 2018 but didn't break 11 seconds on a single occasion there is way young lee in lane three one of the sub 11 second merchants 10.99 her personal best blessing okafari of course silver medalist in the olympics in both the uh long jump and at the world championships as well there is elaine thompson fresh from the world relays in yokohama she goes in lane five not quite the athlete she was back in 2016. jenna prandini us number one over 200 meters that's her favorite event running out at 100 meters today she's in six ellia hobbs one of two young americans very much the new generation of female sprinters from the united states ncaa champion she's in seven and her teammate ashley henderson also part of the winning team in yokohama last weekend in lane eight and completing the lineup in nine victoria christina rosa from brazil three times brazilian champion elaine thompson had a terrible battle change with stephanie mcpherson in those world relays still managed to come home in third place so thompson in lane five the lineup again liang china in one liai from trinidad and tobago in two way china in three okad bari the long jumper former long jumper in four thompson the olympic champion double olympic champion goes in five trandini six hobbs usa seven henderson usa eight rosa the brazilian champion goes in lay nine what sort of form is elaine thompson in women's 100 meters getting into a stride here where is thompson but okabari is coming through very strongly indeed they picked on the line there by hobbs hobbs in great form in yokohama and the sprint relay goes against the olympic champion elaine thompson of jamaica thompson who took her double gold 100 200 in rio but asha smith beat a very strong field in stockholm a week ago tonight very comfortably indeed and she's in irresistible form there's uh shania collins us indoor champion of his 60 meters this year broke 11 seconds twice last year there is a victoria christina rosa of brazil a semi-finalist at the last world championships over 200 she's improving his ms rosa the 23 year old jenna prandini i always feel that the americans the best event is the 200 by some margin she's struggled to move on the last couple of years her five best times at 100 when 2015 and 2016. there is dina rachel smith 23 years old now one or two 200 so far this year in doha and stockholm both world best this is her first 100 meets of 2019. she thrashed the olympic and world champions in stockholm over 200 meters under the two trillion john blacky she's having a fabulous career as deana talu murray of the ivory coast the 30 year old very experienced she could be one of the biggest dangers twice world championship silver medalist at 100 meters including in london there is thompson elaine thompson only fourth in the commonwealth games 200 last year when dean russell smith was third but she won here in 2016 the 26 year old jamaican she's very experienced she goes in six she is the reigning olympic champion let's not forget alaya hobbs winning the shanghai 100 meters back last month the reigning u.s champion hub she goes in seven then english gardener seventh in rio very experienced hasn't broken 11 seconds since that rio olympic 100 meters final can you believe yet her best is 10.74 struggling to find her best form and angela gabriela tenorio of ecuador completes the lineup she first broke 11 seconds in 2015 age 19 but it's her only sub in seven eleven seven eleven seconds clock smith ended her 2018 season beaten in zurich by muriel a hurray and at the continental cup by marie jose tallu who goes in lane five deena remember is in lane four dean rashford smith but those days might be gone many pundits have seen her form in doha and more particularly in in a cool stockholm last week and they feel that she's going to be very tough to beat over either distance 100 or 200 this year she goes in four asher smith in four and a lot of noise in the arena i think some clapping because of the high jump there but steve this is a long long season for dina and she knows she's got to handle herself very cautiously because it would be very easy to boil over so to speak mid-season and be pretty much on the downslope to inform terms by the end of september and i think she's very aware of that you mentioned her coach john blacky one thing you have to say the two of them have always planned the career and season very well so you know they've got a plan i i don't think there's anything wrong with running well most athletes would love to be running well whatever time but you're absolutely right you've got to time your effort right all athletes do for a very late world championships so if they're blocked for the second time then the women's 100 meters here in rome shania collins in one victoria christina rosa brazilian two jenna pandini goes in three then dean arash at smith the favorite goes in lane four her personal best 1085 from that berlin european final last year when she took one of three goals mary jose talou right next to her in lane five could be a real danger from the ivory coast elaine thompson the olympic champion in lane six for jamaica alaia hobbs in seven gardiner innate tenorio in lane nine but what planes four five six asha smith tallu thompson good start there from asha smith also going well is telu asha smith pulling away now she's got half a meter thompson coming back in and now though thompson's going to take her this time and that is a surprise about half a meter in it 1089 there deana smooth looking smith looking lovely and um relaxed there but she beat elaine thompson last week by about four meters over 200 meters in a freezing cold stockholm and tonight maybe a little bit of ire a little bit of anger and fire in the belly of the jamaican olympic champion elaine thompson after the humiliation of stockholm has pushed her on to a surprise win here tonight over dinarasha smith that probably steve it's actually a good thing for dina who runs 1094 a good second place hobbs a solid third in 11 12. but that probably just brings her i know she's a lovely girl she's a humble girl she is very grounded but if anything uh if if anything needed any regrounding so to speak in her life at the moment that is it that would have given her a real shake-up well if you're going to get beat by anybody make it the olympic champion and you know elaine thompson is a redoubtable competitor and i think we've all been waiting to see you know the real elaine thompson start to come through and she has said to people look it's a long year be patient and i think you're right though she just got a little sniff of a chance here because dina was well out probably not the best start that dina might have wanted it was a good start and then after that it was a case of uh thompson just you're just imperceptibly coming alongside and then going past big confidence boost for thompson hopefully ashley smith won't take that um [Music] [Applause] so she'll have a little bit of a longer weight out there here's the french woman and be said zange [Music] 111.40 this year that was in a race the b race if you like in stockholm when she was behind emmanuel who we see here who warmed up before running 200 meters that night but as i said she is in good form the canadian says she'll double up at the world champs and the 100 and the 200 this is makia briscoe a new name from the us the us with so many splinters at the minute world lead chicago richardson 10.75 and a welcome first race outdoors of the season for gina looking kemper [Music] went to the world relays in yokohama but this is our first individual race of the year victoria rose has had lots of races so far this season now the south american championships those championships were held in lima recently blessing from nigeria familiar name of course very experienced the second in shanghai in the hundred then daphne skippers who might just start as a as a favorite you'd normally say that tallu this woman here would be the favorite from the ivory coast of course but she pulled up in montreal the other day said uh did looked more of a serious injury than um it turned out to be a couple of days later she then everybody know was just cram thanked the medical staff but she's missed a little bit of training so what will tell you have for us today so skippers is six to losing five skippers is one of those athletes who's been talking a lot about patience this season and [Music] understanding the doha in september october is where the big performances really matter but you want to build your confidence through the season stand up please stand up another further delay here it's been quite a long time to get these women out cooler conditions sun's gone in temporarily we've had a pretty sunny sort of weekend here but it's clouding over rather quickly rapidly a little bit unusual for her back but certainly warm enough for the sprinters and if the wind is kind maybe get close to 11 seconds skippers last week 11-06 tallu 11-1-4 her best performance that was in rome after that worrying evening in montreal last week and as i said watch out for crystal emanuel over in lane two you can borrow it could borrow it will never be too far away either in four women's hundred meters tallu gets a very good start but so does a manual over in lane two manual got the advantage skippers with a lot of work to do talu just forging away okari coming through as well but talu may just have this whole akbari somewhere into the lead and wins eleven zero five slight headwinds just took the edge well i said she's never too far away and that's a good win for her against this good field skippers never really got into it emmanuel blasted out of the blocks couldn't maintain which would be a worry for her but akakbari well judged race health talu who we know gets a good start but talu as i said just isn't quite firing on all cylinders at the moment i think that's a disappointing performance perhaps from skippers so akamara gets the win well it's the second terrific performance of the season for blessing agapari second in shanghai in just outside today's time look at her there four from right tall at right by this time tyler was stolen what half a half a yard but akugbari coming through really nicely indeed by this time skippers is going backwards and toddler you can see the effort etched on her face and the smooth of the two in the final few meters was definitely okay 30 years old rolling back the years and that is a terrific win there against a really good field talu you can see almost trying too hard skippers i think knew the race was gone after 50 meters but all credit to the nigerian second in shanghai and now victory in rabat well talu there is she always you know obviously gives 100 but it's just too much hard work at the moment and akagbari just staying strong there and maintaining through rather than anything else talu just fading skippers will not probably want to watch that race again i wouldn't think but nonetheless uh in fact she's finished fifth on uh the times given the same time as zombie said zange but given fifth place so akbari the season's best talu the season's best they will get quicker obviously emanuel [Music] huge favorite here in switzerland in front of a home crowd she was bronze medalist last year at the world indoors over 60 meters but only ninth in the pre-fountain classic 100 last sunday in california goes in lane three for the ivory coast world championship silver medalist 100 200 back in 2016 and she's in a wonderful form she won last week capri kayla white goes in lane four second in the ncaa championships 10 9 5. watch her brazen price there she is one of the greatest printers in history the world number one this year three times the world champion in 2009 13 and 15. twice olympic champion at 100 in beijing and london 2012 for dean asher smith goes in lane six three european goals last summer in berlin but uh third in prefontaine last week over 200 metres winning in stockholm over that distance daphne skippers third fastest athlete in the history the world champion at 200 meters from the netherlands rounding into form is skippers watch her in seven and salome of switzerland completes the lineup around a personal best for 100 at solar form on the 30th of june where musicians are incredibly favorable it's a meeting at which athletes go every year to uh set personal best to national records a lot of people in the sport look at those times with a bit of a squint because it's at altitude and it's they get very favorable wins there fraser price while she won here in 2008 and 2009 she's run under 1080 10 times in her career has the legendary jamaican there's talu she goes in three shaymin away they're not alongside each other talu and fraser price but looking kemper in one kambunji in two talu goes in three kayla white in four fraser prize five asher smith six third from left skippers in seven and quarter in lane eight great start steve i didn't spot it and let's have a look at the dina smith certainly looked because she got out quickly but the reaction on there says no we'll get a replay of that it's very straightforward no that looked fine didn't it hmm perhaps she [Music] goes in lane three in this women's 100 meters we've had one faulty start already asha smith has got a yellow card beside her name on our computers which is strange because the reaction times that are showing on screen from that first start don't show a full start by anybody anyway reset it is none of the three winners of the diamond league 100s this year are here looking kemper in one cambodia two marriage champions league halloween three white in four fraser price in five ashore smith six third from left skippers in seven seconds left long hold there but another really good start from fraser price she's got away well here so is white rocking from side to side here comes taludo and fraser price in supreme form she's cleared by metre and a half there and i think maybe ashley smith coming through for second place 10.74 there she misses the meeting record of marion jones by two 100th of a second that's a meeting record many would have liked to have seen white from the books it goes back to 1998. he's 21 years old but fraser price there misses her world best season's best by 1 100th of a second 10.74 is official asha smith [Music] smith there takes a very significant scam scalp in tallow but steve fraser price an irresistible form with that that start and that pick up over the first 25. wonderful running that's what we saw the jamaican championships not what we saw last week i'm told that uh well shelian fraser price uh obviously is trying to build a season two doha there are races where she's going to go flat out racing where she might not be well at least she was tonight thank goodness good run from dina russia smith who maybe with that warning maybe sat a little bit in the blocks although it was a pretty good start from her as well next to fraser price and talu all three of them good starts they ended up coming away from the field but she looks in supreme form fraser price doesn't she i mean this is twice now she's run under 10.8 you know that that's that's brilliant and it was still only in july championships later in the year and a very warm doha no doubt it bodes very well for women sprinting this year and a very mild win behind her plus 0.2 she's on record final track action of the weekend it's the women's 100 meters and we have listen to this as a roll call we have a double olympic champion in the form of fraser price we have the two last european champions in asher smith and skippers the two last commonwealth champions in ie and akbari and as if that weren't enough the two last african champions in tallu this make no mistake as all the quality of an olympic final and let's hope it delivers well let's take you through the lineup gino looking kemper from germany here is the fastest qualifier 22 years old and a real talented one for the future for germany she goes in lane one in two the commonwealth games champion with that distinctive red dyed hair around 11 21 in the heat earlier this afternoon in three daphnie skippers the flying dutch woman better of course as a 200 meter double world champion at that distance 11 15 in her heat starting to round into some form here second german in this final tatiana pinto twice european relay bronze medalist 11 12 she ran in second place in the heat earlier this afternoon the arthurian one of two ivorians in this final murray jose tarlou saw from the bridesmaid with fourth place at the olympics and the world championships but a much better sprinter now she goes in lane five and so to the double olympic champion shelly and fraser price who strolled to victory 1095 in the heat listen at the raw from the crowd so much support for her from the jamaicans in the crowd she looks so relaxed a mother now of course as well and she is the meeting record holder but listen to the roar here dina asher smith triple european champion the fastest britain in the women's race she goes in at lane seven what's an opportunity for her miri lagure at the age of keeping marijuana company for the ivory coast and then blessing okay who came through in third place in that heat earlier today olympic and will still make a list at the long jump she no longer is competitive in the long jump concentrating on her sprinters but what a final this is here so much quality from lanes one to nine will it be shelly and fraser price who has the world lead of 10.73 so that line up again looking kemper germany in one ie trinidad and tobago in two skippers in three pinto four talu five fraser price in six asha smith next to her in seven ahuri eight okabari just out of picture in lane nine where will this victory come from and who can lay down a marker ahead of those world championships in doha in just under 10 weeks time women's 100 metres final a long hold and it was almost inevitable that somebody would twitch and i'm not sure to the naked item who it was just wondering whether it was skippers you know just coming up on our screen now it was a very long hold it was a long hole but you know these athletes have got to learn that i mean skippers is incredibly experienced she will know is that the face of a an athlete trying to hide a little bit of guilt you don't want guilt sounds too strong a word you know it's a it's a tiny human error but a significant one in context and i'm afraid to the writer picture what skippers up she comes long before anybody else is uh moving naught point zero nine two and she for the sake of eight one thousandths of a second well that's disappointing because an athlete it's always disappointing of course to lose an athlete but to lose an athlete of the quality and as you said in the experience of skippers is uh hugely disappointing but she can have no complaints she anticipated the gun and you cannot do that so find the margins so lane three is now empty looking camper in one ai in two pinto germany three talu in five fraser price the double olympic champion in six asher smith seven uhura eight okari second time of asking women's 100 meters this time away safely trades the price gets off really well so does ashley smith also go well is ie in lane two but here comes fraser price it's no contest usher smith in pursuit but phrase the price gets the line let's look at the time 1077 the winning time it's outside of a worldly time of 1073 but fraser price once again rolling back the years 32 years old [Music] won the olympic title in this stadium in 2012. it's as if she's never been away so much has happened since then it's been rounded up 78 asha smith coming through to get the second place in 1092. that's also excellent consistent running from her 1091 she ran in the heat early this afternoon talu came through to take third and okabari who continues to impress you know coming through to take fourth in 1104 well there was no contest frankly was there eventually fraser price got a great start headed them all after 10 meters heads them all by meter maybe a metre and a half come the line she is unstoppable at the moment dean russia smith knows she can put a layer of icing on this cake yet over the coming weeks in preparation for the world championships but will that layer of icing be as thick as that gap between herself and uh fraser price it's a very very tall order because fraser price is operating the level that asher smith has never been to frankly and look at the cadence there the turnover from fraser price's supreme she's a great starter we have to acknowledge that few are better and it's a great for dinar ashes smith to get second in this sort of company but my word it's going to be very very tough to elevate herself to the standards being set by the jamaican chris as you say in effect coming back fresh she's had a year off really and she's enjoying her athletics 10 78 to ash has missed 10.92 tallow is a significant scout for asha smith but that's a go off between her and the jamaican well it all bodes well for doha in 10 weeks time for fraser fryer shifts you can keep fit and injury free 1078 clear daylight ahead of asher smith creditable second talu in third and disappointment for daphne skippers disqualified by well the smallest of margins our next action on the track is the women's 100 meters and there are still five places to be filled for the finals next week in brussels sony mary jose asher smith and blessing bari have definitely secured their places although one or two athletes here should have done enough already regardless of results this evening and it's been wide open this year five different races have produced four different winners so far this year including shelly anne fraser price who won in london this race includes double olympic champion elaine thompson definitely skippers is in here as well and they are hobbs from the usa so plenty of quality this the final chance remember to seal a place in the final so main one johnny l smith from jamaica north and central american silver medalist fifth in birmingham last weekend [Music] from france local favorite here won the european team championship title in poland two weekends ago second in the french championships there is uh tiana daniels us champion in des moines something of a surprise u.s champion in des moines so she's definitely going to doha 20 she ran in that race celine thompson there coming back to her best double olympic champion been struggling with an achilles injury and saying in the press conference how important she's finding to manage that injury she is managing it it hasn't gone away another is this young lady jose talu african champion she won the french championship even though she's not a french national uh in santetian not quite at the level of 2018. daphne skippers also rather disappointed by our own very high standards not just in the 100 but also in the 200 meters so far this season she may well struggle to meddle in doha on current form eleah hobbs in lane seven u.s national collegiate champion start to 2019 winning in shanghai second in stanford natalia white also from jamaica 22 years old former world relay silver medalist eleven zero four her lifetime bet it's luvo very popular here in france the ivorian the women's 100 meters smith jamaica in one zai france in two daniels usa three thompson the olympic champion ivory coast the silver medalist behind thompson goes in five skippers flying dutch woman in six hobbs usa in seven white jamaica in lane eight perfect conditions almost no wind at all lovely and warm here in stadiality women's 100 meters well false start there and it was a little bit late coming once again we had a false start in the earlier a and b races before the main program started the cameras picked out tarloo just see what our screen is showing reaction times one of a second of course the permitted well nobody is obviously within that tim did you see something for the naked eye no i didn't chris and immediately i looked at the reaction times and again just as in one of the men's races earlier on no nothing's showing i think was in the hurdles earlier on nothing showing and uh i don't know if there's an equipment hiccup that's taking place here but you know we're huge equipment failing with pouring with rain a bit of water gets into the works maybe it's overheating here in paris tonight it's a sweltering evening when you think it's 25 past eight local time it's about 30 degrees centigrade well yellow well it's uh smith who's just been getting a warning there she is uh still on the blocks there so we have a full complement in this women's 100 smith then in jamaica in one zai france in two daniels usain three the u.s champion thompson double olympic champion goes in four talu ivory coast in five skippers netherlands in six hobbs usa in seven white from jamaica in lane there's the two standout athletes certainly on paper thompson right of picture talu to the left time they're away safely that squat position of ton who's so so aggressive thompson going nicely as well how's the achilles shaping up skippers with work to do but thompson once again coming through thompson flying through into a slight headwind 1097 another sub 11 clocking nowhere near the 1073 that she set earlier this year but thompson you know is winning for fun now that's a fifth consecutive victory over 100 meters she's taken in the jamaican championship title the pan am games title in lima and now with what five weeks to go until the world championships in doha the olympic champion from 2016 is starting to put together the consistency that shows that she could be a real contender in doha 1098 clear daylight between her and talu in second place [Music] yeah i'll tell you what that was a high caliber field the us champion talo who is so consistent the ivory coast athlete but uh well elaine thompson the jamaican with 1098 has won that with room to spare by the best part of two meters she's such a lovely looking mover very smooth indeed no straight look at the contrast with talu that's left a picture thompson very relaxed in the face and shoulders also form well lovely long stride length she's got high knees maintains that form so well through to launch she doesn't strain there's no increase in pressure or effort over the last 20. just maintains her form beautifully smoothly you can see why she's a double olympic champion 10 98 to 11 13. that's a gulf of sprinting terms well she'll be pleased with that i'm sure thompson don't want to do pigmen the press conference were rather surprised how serious that achilles injuries has been but she's made like work there 10.98 at a time athletes on the track for the second track final here and this one of the highlights of this evening in brussels it's the women's 100 meters and the oozing quality here the return to action for chilean fraser price here for the first time since 2013 but in lane one from canada the canadian champion crystal emanuel third in rabat and seventh in the panam games recently elia hobbs from the usa the national collegiate champion who won in shanghai seems a long time ago now stephanie skippers goes in three double world champion of course over 200 meters not before she was some distance away from the likes of this young lady dina asher smith over 200 meters dean rashford smith the farthest british athlete of all time and a real threat you have to say to shelian fraser price who is the meeting record holder here 10.72 equal with elaine thompson who's not here this weekend elaine thompson she goes in five murray jose tarlou 30 years old now the african champion world silver medalist at 6 100 and 200 blessing okabari at 30 having a fabulous season as well in both 100 and 200 meters and uh gina looking kemper from germany completes the lineup in lane the german number two but this really i would suggest all about shelly and fraser price and dina asher smith sffp if you like against das the two standout athletes of 2019 shelly ann fraser-price of course who gave birth to her daughter a couple of years ago and has made a terrific return so emanuel in one hobbs two skippers from the netherlands in three ashes smith in the blue their center of picture in four fraser price the double olympic champion goes in five talu ivory coast six okabari nigeria and seven looking kemper from germany in lane eight asher smith in four fraser price in five set terrific start there from dean rashford this is so so strong are these two already going but fraser price coming back at it as well tyler in pursuit which one's it going to be is ashley smith going to get there on the line i think she is yet she is into a slight headwind 1087 the winning time brilliant from asher smith now that is a real scalp second in london behind asha smith behind fraser price at the end of july but asha smith you know is a real real metal prospect for doha in three weeks time she's doubling up in the 100 and the 200 second in the 200 of course in zurich last week which was brilliant behind shawnee milo weibo but asha smith in a season's best 1088 she's run sub 11 in every single race she's done this year and that is probably the best of the lot beating shelly anne fraser price on her return to brussels she threatened to come back but fraser price couldn't get there and asha smith him help her absolutely fantastic master smith two or three different phases in this race asha actually i think lost the lead at around 50. she led early on lost the lead at 50 came back battled against fraser price and pulled clear towards the line it is a brilliant run and what is a cool evening here in brussels we're sitting here in jackets it's certainly far from ideal for the sprinters but she come out of the comes out of the block so well fraser price that jamaican is always such a good starter in the headband and there i think she's in the lead dina just battles back she responds to fraser price it's wonderful that she can keep working so hard up her work rate and draw clear that is a huge win for her the best she's looked this year against the clock and in every other respect well what a way to go into the world champions into doha repeating just under three weeks away and talk about a mental edge second in the 200 meters last uh last week in zurich she was very happy with that no shame at all about coming second to uh shawnee miloweebo but that is absolutely brilliant and the perfect preparation the perfect platform if you like for dina asher smith it was always going to be between these two in lanes four and five i would have said maybe fraser price before the race had the slight edge with her reputation here in brussels but you can see what it means to asher price a little slap of the hands there giving yourself a real round of applause and my word well if expectations before this race were already pretty high
