Isiah Young smokes Noah Lyles in 100m at 2021 Adidas Boost Boston Games | NBC Sports

the adidas men's 100 meters to close out the action here in boston and one of wade van niekerk's new training partners noah lyles in the final yeah he ran 1003 in his heat that's a season's best but more importantly looked very comfortable i thought and i expect a faster time than 1003 in this final so this is a final from two heats earlier in the day so let's reset the field we've got a pair of lyles in the race the younger brother of noah josephus lyles in lane one and he was the last qualifier in ran 10 28 in his heat so we have bookend lyles his brother was the fastest qualifier at 10 0 next to him will be jalen bacon only noah laws ran faster in qualifying than his 10-12 so he figures to give noah lyles a run in this race and now noah lyles will do what he does best a little showmanship as he gets set here you know this is not a spectator event so it's a little bit eerie people just kind of walking by and noticing these guys on this elevated track yeah his mom has made the trip though here is nicol ashmead who got the gold medal excuse me this is isaiah young third fastest at qualifying and he has a sub 10 performance so far in 2021 and you stole my thunder nickel the jamaican gold medalist at the 2016 olympics as part of jamaica's four by 100 meter relay anchored by that usain bolt guy yes who is now producing music and being a father and enjoying his retirement some four years into that now so it's all about noah allows now as his mother keisha not too far from us looking on she has two sons to worry about hence her hands clasped in prayer so is her son noah is the favorite in three in lane one will be her other son slightly younger some people think they're twins they're not he'll be in lane one men's 100 meters on a breezy afternoon in boston and lyle's gonna have to make up some ground here was good start by young now young trying to hold off the youngster lyles he's going to do it going away an impressive win by isaiah young as he takes the victory in 994 and that's why i gave the rest of this field so much problem that is an impressive run for isaiah young it says season's best i'm pretty sure that's a personal best as well so here's a look again now his personal best is 992. so just off that the funny thing is that i thought noah had a decent start here and when he starts this well you would expect that his middle of the race pickup and certainly his finish he's known for how well he finishes would have been able to take care of this field but isaiah young came and gave you his second best hundred meter performance ever and this wasn't close lyle's way back in 10 10. and he has some more work to do because when you think about trayvon bramel ronnie baker and javon martin who have all been running well into the nine nines noah has some work to do well young who is a semifinalist at 200 meters for team usa in london now has dreams of making another olympic team as he's now with lewis johnson and getting a shout out from some of his running teammates off to the side so what do you think man just uh really close to your personal best here on the streets of boston oh uh i mean the weather and the track gave it to us and the fans i'm just grateful that i'm healthy and i think my coaches will put me in this great position to come out here and execute and do things i was able to do today and execution will be the key in just under 30 days right it's coming we were just talking about that in warm bear it was like man charles is right around the corner so everybody's just trying to put some race together before we get there and uh yeah we're just gonna show up and everybody's gonna be ready so we gotta be ready too looks like you will be ready isaac congrats way to close this out here appreciate it man thanks a lot paul thank you thanks boston lewis he's better at 200 but don't tell him that he's looking like a contender to make the u.s team at 100 meters as well
