tonight from Tucson Arizona college football on TBS superstation part of big PlayStation Saturday now brings the changing of the leaves the change of the season college football season [Applause] newly anointed national powers our programs return to go school steeped in winning tradition [Music] it's ear two of college football on the superstation and we showcase the pride of the pac-10 and the Brawn of the big 12 teeth that bite [Applause] control receivers [Applause] football in the desert is a crowd of about 50,000 have descended on Arizona Stadium to see a clash between two of college football's premier conferences the pac-10 and the SEC tonight six number 13 LSU paying a visit to the Wildcats Arizona hello again everybody along with Charles Davis I'm Ron thulon and we welcome you to Game one of 11 games of college football here on TBS we're glad to have you with us you know this is a great game tonight with LSU in Arizona let's first talk about the Wildcats much has been written about the controversy last year both on and off the field for John mackovic talking to the players the last couple of days we get the sense that is nothing more than history to them there is a new attitude here in Tucson Arizona five new assistant coaches new leaders on the field but Charles surprisingly those leaders are young but they are good they are very good and it doesn't matter where your leadership comes from because you wanted to come from your best players and if they're young so be it and they have a young leader by the name of Mike Bell their starting tailback who took charge in spring practice carried it through the fall and it culminated on opening night with 119 yards and one touchdown this young guy is young he's only a sophomore but he has a lot of moxie about him if they can get the production tonight from they got against UTEP LSU in trouble well let's talk about LSU know they're making their first trip this far Wesson's 1984 but they're bringing with them one of the most potent offenses in the SEC but for them it starts up front on the line and because they have the best line in the SEC they're skilled people they can do what they do best yeah they think they might have the best line in the country and they're skilled people are led by Matt Mauck their quarterback he's back from a foot injury and he has a chance to get to maybe the best receiver in the SEC if not the country in Michael Clayton this guy is big strong fast and aggressive 152 yards and receptions last week two touchdowns and we may also see him on the defensive side at safety he's one of the better players that you're going to see in the country well if you're Arizona you must control that offensive line one would think to win this football game and that's tough for Arizona because their defense upfront is small so the linebackers will opt to help out tonight to stop the LSU run game on the flip side LSU they just want to control the emotion tonight because Arizona will be jacked up they'll be sky-high they'll want to win against a ranked team to knock to meet their fire with their own if they do beat the ranked team for Arizona will be the first victory over somebody ranked since the year 2000 now let's send it back to our hosts for the second year in a row Ernie Johnson he's joined by the newest member of our broadcast team Brian Bosworth gentlemen I thank you very much Rhonda thanks for calling us gentlemen we appreciate that too this is a new look at studio a kind of a fall facelift for big PlayStation Saturday I am Ernie Johnson and as you've heard I am joined by a newcomer a rookie as it were a lift I'll let him introduce himself [Music] Brian Bosworth University of Oklahoma linebacker so look at bride you couldn't tell it he's broken 11 bones and a nose and that's not even counting his own injuries [Music] it'd be one of the best to ever play the game on Saturday afternoon Brian Bosworth is here and let's set something straight right off the bat is it Brian is it Boz or is it the boss well when you guys told me to come on to do the show you said TBS but you said you're gonna change the name of the show to the bars show TV I stood for the bar show so I figured hey it's natural fit right baby consider it done any studies the BOD I need a graphic on that Blizzard they can get it done for you how about how about your team Oklahoma they're the number one team in the country and I know you've been glued to the set tonight watching them play Alabama your thoughts so far so far the defense's has lived up to their billing they've done exactly what they need to do the speed they've got on the on the defense in the second area the power they got on the off the defensive line they've made a couple of mistakes in the secondary but I tell you the defense overall is controlling this game and I think on both sides of the ball Alabama's defense is keeping Alabama in the game so right now it's a defensive struggle that Oklahoma's offense good enough to get things done at least on this plate Jason white - to Mark Clayton and this would make it a 13-2 three suitor to lead this was really the loan down spot for Alabama without that play right there Alabama's got this game a lot better so the pause show is underway get a good look at the man he's now 38 years old and a father of three you may remember him better this way the various looks the hair styles the whole thing that made the Boz put Boz that downtown Julie brown that is downtown Julie brown what you got in your mouth there big fella yeah you know I know but look I don't want to know about that hair either and we brought color to college football we brought color to sports in general and you we just kind of fell into it so we had some fun with and look what it's going let's look what look where it's taking us now yeah to the Baz show of before the bar show resumes we have some football to play LSU taking on Arizona while there you go see you won a graphic and they we're quick [Applause] I've seen it before won't stop into your bed too every man has his breaking point maximum risk Sunday 8:00 Eastern on TBS superstation spicy garlic shrimp buy your grilled chicken and our famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio want more flavor one idea becomes a vision the vision becomes a company at LSU we're helping new companies bring their technologies into the marketplace from the latest software solutions for first responders to the molding of high-precision micro tools the Louisiana Business and Technology Center at LSU one of the top 10 technology business incubators in the nation [Music] it's hard to lose your best friend especially when it's your son to go from being the hero to the villain I've become the snoop in the spine I pry into his life he says I only retreat my son like this and I think if you love him you will but I first saw it I thought oh we're so blessed huge must be three damaged I just couldn't believe this I just think what I could do with a high-def TV like that I think what I could do with the extra space see more with less TV experience more with Phillips hi-def flat TV looks good huh perfect [Music] spicy garlic shrimp buy your grilled chicken and our famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio a lot more flavor tell us football on TBS brought to you by the Home Depot go from wondering how to knowing how at the Home Depot you can do it and we can help Kia Motors seven cars one belief Kia make every mile count chili spicy Poulos cool chiles bolas buffalo wings and UPS commerce synchronized ups what can Brown do for you welcome back inside the stadium the third member of our broadcast team again this year Craig Sager Craig thanks rod John mackovic has regained control of the Arizona football program the kora players who led the Raval and failed attempt to have him fired last November has graduated and moved on he has not lighten his demands on the practice field with their classroom but he has softened his tongue and in an effort to correct one of the painful moments in his career has become a nicer person and more understanding coach I've been knocked down before and I've told our team if you think you're going to have a joyride through life you won't and it doesn't matter how high on the mountain you think you are you can fall and but the nice thing is I think that our team has said we're going to get up and rise again and I said that personally and we're doing it and we will do it and we're going to be a great story for 2003 now john mackovic charles has a great attitude about what happened he said listen I asked for guy's forgiveness it's over and we talked to all the players since Wednesday and they they said the same thing hey it's part of history John makovicka his third year here at Arizona on the other side it is Lou Saban he is an excellent football coach our Nick Saban West Virginia couple assists in the National Football League and he is a good role there is only one to toss the third they kicked off with the wind it's out of the end zone Nicholas folk gets every minute it and LSU will take over Christian 10 from their own 20 yard line let's take a look at the LSU offense one of the most talented in the country led by quarterback Matt mock a junior out of Jasper Indiana back from that foot injury and he provides solid leadership drills and the most important stat is the second one in his eighth career start but a six in one record as a starter last year five and one before he got hurt the Florida game LSU was three and four [Applause] was his best game of the year [Applause] pick up four on the play going behind that big offensive line let's take a look at our US army of one starting lineups for the LSU offense running backs and wide receivers we just saw him adaiah the sophomore out of Houston 81 yards last week in Game one and in the line talk about consistency how about 96 starts between them they are the best in the SEC led by the new daddy Stephen Peterman at right guard he is a Lombardi Award thanks close it on to the flat incomplete got great pressure put on the play as we take a look at that Arizona defense totally new from last year as they switched to the three-four for Mike Hansel it's the line is young not that big Carl to eat Ibuki must step up in the middle from that nose back of the tackle spot linebacker jociel faily back at his natural position which is in the middle and in the secondary Michael Joel a bet back after the knee surgery that is a very talented secondary right now they will be tested at third down and Sonny Charles a nice pressure from Carlos [Applause] to the nearside click into the far side Lock pulls it down up over the 35 yard line Darryl Brooks on the stop pickup of 12 on the play the fans wanted a loose ball but it wasn't there now you're going to see what all the hype is about Michael Clayton's strong and physical makes the catch loses the ball dives right on it first down LSU went in down Nathan make place blend but we saw that Zeon say Sherman that quarterback was on him Gary love didn't dress for the game the normal start a ported quarterback resist outward he something from a couple of sprained ankles every Henderson gets inside Arizona Territory up into 48 and he may have taken quite a shot the tackle just slowed down in the legs area as he got around the corner great block downfield on him rock downfield form as he turned the corner getting help from his fellow wide receivers Joseph this is flair pass out to the wide receiver Clayton number 14 inside makes a block and then out on the corner that's another block from number five Skylar green before the tackle is made by layman means number 19 around the leg the area can only hope to every Henderson would be ok Lucius Louisiana this is some have tabbed them the best in the conference [Applause] the brass straight up over powering his way over the 45 down to about the 41 yard line pickup of about eight on the play you know there's so much question on on the die the fact that he's six foot 205 they were questioning whether he did have the durability well they'll find that out as the season goes on when he gets the requisite number of carries so we can tell whether he has durability but he continues to get holes such as he just found chopped like that in the front wall you have to worry about durability he'll just be smelling end zone this is vintage FCC office Tyrone Perry the junior from New Orleans originally side with Tennessee pick up three on the play [Applause] and was a floor as a wide receiver awesome fans this telecast is available with Spanish translation via the si P button on your remote control how impressive first drive for here for LSU already Arizona Territory [Music] [Applause] five down to the 33-yard line michael jolla vets the one who took his legs from underneath them you know clayton may be seeing some defense tonight but the way this heat is right now here and I know Baton Rouge is humid and everything but it is hot tonight he's getting a workout I don't think we're gonna see him a whole lot of defense and I think they'd like to not play in my defense if they could afford them they'd like to avoid it if at all possible because they want to get him a number of plays on offense he also culpers and special teams third and short this is where John mackovic wants his defense to improve formation over the left side close the die again the sophomore out of Houston Texas had a great fall camp Joe seal faily is the one who made him on the stop and he did get the first down a daibo came in the best shape he's been in in a long time and that was obviously for coach Nick Saban something he wanted to see he's trying he and Chevron carrier right now we're trying to replace two excellent backs and Dominic Davis and more Brandon toefield who are both in the NFL right now and both of them want to be the featured ball carrier the guy has a little more spill his wallet so he's going to be the guy who would get the first shot if it carries a great changeup back 560 very shifty another high snap keeps it on the ground the left side it's just battery that defensive front floor of Arizona that we talked about toefield and Davis from last year they were or a dietary from last season you can see what they did I think I think the key here is that the number of rushes you talk about durability that's all they had from last year we're going to find out this year yes that question won't get that a question answered in about three games what they did last year all season long now those times played with those wide to the right I'm sucking down as [Applause] brownish time is scary again nearing the 20-yard line this is about as methodical it was the opening drive as you'll ever see exactly what else she wants to do it's a coordinate we talked with him yesterday he stressed the need for balance on offense but when you are as big as LSU is up front and as strong as they are up front balances are really what you want right now you want the pound to wit the smaller defensive front of Arizona continue to chop holes in their front and let your backs run another third down there too for two so far and third down tonight [Applause] that'll be close and I'm going to tell you era LSU is gonna be very disappointed in that because I'm third and short and it's big and as strong as they are they should they feel that they should make that every time without it being closed you can see our first and 10 line by Home Depot see the big moving to the right everyone to zone blocking a die trying to find a gap nice job by the Arizona defensive line many guys trying to get in on the tap we shot number 90 Karl Toyota buki getting in on the tackle leading the charge but he had plenty of help from a number of guys on his offensive front may be small but Mike Hank wits has in being very active when they call one gaffer's trying to fill now you see what they made the first down by Nick Saban's spot continues to march down the field this Drive started on the 20 after the opening kickoff in this Arizona defense as we talked about Mike hanket's won a national title as a defensive coordinator at Colorado in the 90s went to this three-four from the double eagle flex which was a mainstay here at Arizona problem is he lost about five players that he thought would play this year prior to practice started [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the time to throw it and of course I'm wrong so you're up with me here peek over the left side but this see my tank awaits and what a job he did for RC slow come down to Texas A&M with a wrecking crew defense this man is about as good as you can get as a defensive coordinator he understands but he didn't complain when he said we lost these five guys he said you know we just kind of moved people around and that's what a good coach does because you can't lament about he's not there you have to play with he is there and give those kids confidence on appeal second down and seven in the back [Applause] looking in the flat and it is fun it is by Michael Clayton down at the that's why we call him one of the best in the conference Michael played watch this watch Clayton he's just going to run to the flag just breaks it outside I thought that layman means number 19 had an excellent chance to knock down the ball but Matt Mauck who has worked on his arm strength puts a nice zip on the ball threw it low and away because he knows the number 14 attached nearly everything he puts in the air pick up the 16 on the play we want to thank Allstate for providing tonight's goal post scam during [Applause] we get the signal from the official players were giving it to us he's gonna be just a tad short and they could die just couldn't get in that extra yard that would have been his first rushing touchdown of the year and I'm thinking right now that this is four down to the second and goal the balls inside the one I think Nick Saban is going to say we're taking four cracks at it if we need them because there's no sense making this long march and coming away with it trying to feel Bo [Applause] Joe Seale faily tried to make the initial head but that surged by that offensive line was enough for the store [Applause] is the ball as soon as it crosses the plane it's a touchdown there's a close call on a nice hit by CFA way goes on the board for LSU six and a half minute drive just about Ellis a very stiff wind the extra point is good with the extra wanna LSU courtesy of this touchdown by O'Day leaves 7up the Home Depot is more than a store it's the only place to find all the great brands everything from GE to Wayne Landry he's the only one with a commercial fishing license he wants to go to Baton Rouge and protect our fishermen he wants to protect our wetlands he wants to fight against coastal erosion he wants to protect our natural resources and he we'll fight to keep foreign seafood from reaching our marketplaces Wayne Landry State Senator Joseph Addai with his first rushing touchdown of the year Gonzales you have seven nothing lead and also joining us this year like last season Merritt Andrews here hey Ron well you know a lot of people may think that go to mackovic is a rant and rave or he's actually the opposite he likes to pump up his team by using motivational quotes from history and from literature well guys today before the team left their hotel he used a quote from hall-of-famer Woody Hayes the quote is it's never an upset if the so-called underdog has all along considered itself the better team Braun and Charles we'll see how the Wildcats respond exactly right John looked a lot more relaxed than he has in the last couple of months to the last few days of it and that's good stuff of he did that that quote there that Aaron gave us of a Woody Hayes never let his team go into a game feeling like they [Applause] Steptoe on the receiving end gets over the 20 after the 22 yard line if we take a look at the Arizona office last in running in the NCAA last year they focused on that they're going to two quarterbacks tonight Ryan O'Hara and Nick Kosta Kosta gets the start but Charles these two players have totally different styles we're going to see out of Nick Costas he's a guy who will utilize his legs to get himself out of trouble a lot more than riot O'Hara [Music] this guy can use his arm [Applause] [Music] like bill the talented sophomore stopped by Martha Spears take a look at the rest of that Arizona mountains running backs and wide receivers lots of play action tonight look for tight end Steve Fleming to be very much a part of this office one of the best in the pac-10 the line they came and rededicated this year to the run game they're led by six foot eight right tackle Brandon Phillips and dare we say he looked svelte to us at 30 pounds and that put together that's a big old guy who looks great now Spears got a piece of it the LSU defense now this is where Nick Saban has a couple of question marks the light it's their strength marques Hill he's rushing better than ever he is a dandy in the linebacker spot coaches what Lionel Turner to be more vocal and to be more consistent and the secondary Cory Webster seven interceptions last year that led the conference but Nick Saban didn't seems to a hundred percent salt last night when we talked to the body's defense he wants him to be meaner and nastier but they just have to play together a little bit more to develop that attitude it's all for costume the southpaw scrambling throwing this one up for grabs out of bounds last week Costco let him on their first two drives that remain yards four touchdowns this year then this week they lost two yards on their opening drive but good play by cows too despite getting clocked as he got rid of the ball by Chad La Valle a the All SEC defensive tackle why because he got rid of the ball downfield didn't take the sack didn't turn it over this allows Arizona to pump the ball away and try and come out and have a better defensive series Arizona will use a couple of punters Danny bog or the sophomore out of Phoenix he'll start the game Road Kerry is back to receive it on his own 35-yard line [Applause] thirty-six Gary right up the middle got some Running Room forty forty yards 35 either return not with John McAfee looking for in terms of the punt game going to punt it downfield you have to get it up in the air and get some hang time otherwise it got like shadow and carry just go line drive just kazuma chance to catch it on the run and on the move and you know when you play a team like LSU they're number 13 in the country well-deserved ranking now they're the favorite in the SEC West your margin of error against them is very slim there is you you have to have big towns like they just said no and here's another thing to consider LSU's return game has been so good because of Dominic Davis the last few years you know if you ask the LSU coaches they say we hardly ever called for a pump block because we want him to get his hands on the ball and return it because he was so dynamic so they've had plenty of work at that over the last few years and shyrone Carey appears to be the same type of return man you know it's like talking to Matt Mauck and the players last night they lost three of their last five games last year very disappointing ending but they have played in two straight New Year's Day bowl games first time since 65 66 but these guys last night talking about how a burn us had fared so far this year they've got their sights set on going back to the SEC champ and they didn't why hear anything about Auburn or anyone else all they said was Arizona because we lose to them from Arizona's 29 yard line maxime suppression rambly still honest gets back to the line of scrimmage and even picks up a couple of yards before being tripped up by Patrick Howard a junior out of Lamarque Texas great pressure by Phillip number 94 from Arizona he flushed Matt Mauck from the pocket and just think wait till Matt marks foot actually becomes 100% he's a guy had two screws in his foot from the injury last year had him taken out in the spring and he told us yesterday it cracks when he walks he has a little bit of pain they said that will last about a year but he's still able to be nifty enough in the pocket to gain two yards I was line was I'm not going to sneak up on anybody gets close to the 20-yard line down to the 21 yard line Louie Nunez on the stop si.com is your source for scores and breaking sports news and one of the things Mach came back late into the mid and everybody you talked to Cindy the fact that he wasn't allowed to do a whole lot during the spring was a good thing because he learned how to stay in the pocket instead of scrambling the coach's biggest concern it is owed Matt Mauck pressing too much they just said just relax Matt because he's such a conscientious player they don't want to put too much pressure on himself very short [Applause] in emotion the perfect on third down so far mock they're trying to wrap them up when they finally do at the 30-yard line and the software out of San Jose California gets a little help from Patrick Howard and Brian gets his first sack of the year take a look at Copeland Brian the former walk-on from the top of your screen coming right at you no one picks him up Mike Hank what's called the Blitz on the play and overloaded LSU's offensive line Copeland Brian did a great job getting to Matt Mauck forcing a field goal attempt by LSU actually a very good scan by errors 47-yard and he splits the up right 47 yards and LSU makes good use of the excellent field position there up ten nothing we're still in the first [Music] hello Jay hello Newman every weekday get your fix have the two best shows on television I think it's a little much how many sessions did my parents pay for not enough to make a man of you daffodil don't miss an hour of Seinfeld followed by friends weekdays starting at 6:30 Eastern on TBS superstation the Kia Sorento just received the government's highest safety rating and was voted number one in quality safety and quality there's really nothing left for us to say except it is the only SUV with a standard v6 engine front side curtain airbags and a 10-year warranty all for thousands less than Highlander okay that's all we're gonna say [Music] life got simple the day I plugged into the big brown machine lets the coast overnight China 48 hours done round picks it all up together and delivers it all on time I get the proof visit that I'm not a trusting person yes it is international overnight from synchronized view PS what can Brown do for you John mackovic knew this would be a difficult game he's finding out in the early going as he's already down to nothing but let's go back to that quote that Erin Andrews had a few minutes ago you have some thoughts about that what da said you know if you don't think of yourself as an underdog it's not really an upset and that's the part of the new attitude that's here at Arizona this year whereas last year after that great returned by Shiro and Kerri I think LSU would have marched right in and scored on last year's Arizona team instead this year it bowed their necks got after it and held them to a field goal which I think was big for Arizona's defense now it's up there is on his offense [Applause] that big offensive line just try to bang it in on the running dude yeah third and short I was surprised they went to the air Jackson kitchen five yards eat sons except oh just put the me down our next telecast will be next Saturday ten o'clock Eastern Time on TBS the Oregon Ducks take on the Arizona Wildcats we will be right here or going to winner today conference game early going yeah it very early for these two team but are you bringing their sunglasses for Oregon's uniform yeah we're going to have to we'll see if they break out the lightning yellow that we keep hearing all and then Mike Bellotti says all the kids walks a little sick Mike likes it yet though I'll ask him next week Mike Mike said doesn't matter if he likes it not just long as huge series [Applause] Casta five-step drop fires into the flat passes incomplete excellent coverage again for LSU by Jack Hunt the safety it was a great play by Jack hunt because he's playing strong safety and he never gave ground on the route he read it early read the short route with another route hooking the close to him and was able to break on the football and was right there when the ball got to the intended receiver Gilbert Harris the fullback second down and ten five plays nap the Arizona offense - two total yards like bell [Applause] to lose a couple chapped up again let's send it to Ernie and Baz all right thank you very much Ron you know the second-ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State had a little fight on their hands today with San Diego State but the defense came to the rescue boss yes they did San Diego actually played honest a very tough this is actually the Ohio State's lone offensive highlight of the game is regarded interception return with that that San Diego State wins this game that's Will Allen going the distance at Ohio State sixteen straight wins and another tight one 1613 through hey Chris Gamble was the guy who made the play number seven who actually plays offense and defense for Ohio State so how and we have a timeout called by LSU is Arizona facing a third down and ten Nick Saban accompanied up to nothing [Music] [Music] [Applause] it's come from all sighs man got to see the whole feel the whole time peripheral vision that's the key rated E for Everyone with this computer you can even edit and burn home movies on DVD that would be great for the stuff we'll shoot on vacation mm-hmm where you going rafting [Music] did I mention you can edit stuff out that'd be good thousands of possibilities get yours Best Buy Arizona athletics succeeding on and off the playing field the Wildcats have won 16 national team championships and 101 individual championships in 2002 hard work led to 34 percent of Arizona student-athletes to earn a 3.0 GPA or higher Arizona student-athletes make a difference in the Tucson community by reaching 40,000 young people through appearances and public speaking engagements Arizona plettinckx leading the way in education athletics and a community service 510 left in the first quarter LSU leading Arizona 10 nothing we talked about Michael Clayton would he play some defense he did in the Cotton Bowl against Texas goat just said he got tired but he is on the defensive side of the ball now and they started that that move with him to defense Lasher midway through the season hard to get your conditioning up when the seasons going on this year he knew he was going to play on all the base defenses so his conditioning is that much better [Applause] down in ten last year zonad is 38% on third down last week there were 8 of 16 they're facing a very that comes the Blitz [Applause] let's see the official sale LSU's got it [Applause] lyonel Turner from the middle linebacker spot forced the fumble Kerstin Pierre Pittman is the man who recovered it the truth freshman out a reserve out Louisiana LSU showed a nickel package with five defensive backs and came with the Blitz Turner forces the fumble great job by Kirsten Pitman regret the true freshman who is a great speed rush or getting to the football gaming LSU a great field position the evolution of a quarterback begins for Nick Costas take the SAP punted away he tried to flush out of the pocket get away with his legs they not get free LSU's in business and they have great field position I'm the Arizona defense holds him to about a three yard game Josefa died again on the carry just hang on that left side Copeland Brian coming up from that linebacker spot to make the stop now you mentioned Copeland Brian last year was long I got a scholarship at the end of last season from San Jose California what an articulate young man originally like aerospace engineering he says I decide to go poly side yeah it did this is young man after talk to yesterday [Applause] touchdown LSU though a dies second rushing touchdown you can see John mackovic telling the mr. Kosta listen you got a hold out of the ball that is your fault mall security turned into six possibly seven points here and he gave it up deep into his own deep in his own territory [Applause] Jean Mackin Vick obviously not pleased with his offense so far they tie themselves down 17 nothing [Music] life got simple the day I plugged into the big brown machine lets the coast overnight China 48 hours done brown picks it all up together and delivers it all on time I get the proof isn't that I'm not a trusting person yes it is international overnight from synchronized ups what can Brown do for you the Kia Sorento just received the government's highest safety rating and was voted number one in quality safety and quality there's really nothing left for us to say except it is the only SUV with a standard v6 engine front and side curtain airbags and a 10 year warranty all for thousands less than Highlander okay that's all we're gonna say [Music] on stage of your journey is over another begins [Music] on DVD a VHS return to the legend return to the journey to the adventure the Lord of the Rings the two towers now available Joseph Addai four rushing touchdowns last year he's got two tonight and number 13 LSU very impressive on the offensive side of the football they lead it 17 nothing defense pitching him pretty well for them also stuffed them on the first drive close the turnover deep for the second one Jackson showing his like five yards deep and again Steptoe takes a knee why was that so easy for LSU to score they gallop on formation two receivers to the wide side of the field so you had to put the formation there they take the tight end and run him down field and then they option this guy right there the defensive end watch Matt mock now as he comes down the line all he's doing is reading the end if the end goes up field he keeps it if he comes to him he pitches it and then you see the block downfield by the tight end who just went free touchdown on the defensive backs and you know we talked to at least do something in that first quarter and every person said it's essential right now - 10 yards total offense caustic left side clearance farmer picks up a couple let's send it down to Craig Sager more of LSU around the hole turning point that last scoring drive from LSU according the coaching staff came on the third and 10 when they called the timeout Nick Saban obviously a great defensive - defensive quarter mill must chip they noted that they had the wrong defense out there with a down a distance they called the timeout immediately put in the five defensive backs got a fumble recovery and a little celebration went out on the coaching sideline even before they converted the touchdown a great pickup on that one Craig because we were up here in the booth noticing they wanted to keep them pinned in that end of the field didn't want to give up a big play because they didn't have the proper personnel on the field cost a straight drop has some time throws hi just not connecting with Byron Ely you talk about Will Muschamp we heard Craig talking about it he's the defensive coordinator for LSU former Georgia player but this is the same system that Saban had I think at Cleveland at Michigan State I mean this is a system that works and he's sticking to it remember he's worked under some great defensive minds Nick Saban has Bill Belichick in Cleveland you know he worked he worked in Houston and got a little buddy Ryan's stuff he's worked in a lot of places where he's pulled it all together to make it his system and it will Muschamp is really executing it well tonight with those defensive players to step up here is where he was the 10400 Ronnie food our kaiser rolls and down will be shorted worse down needed seven picked up about five on the play [Applause] bacala taking the work he's going to have to kick the ball away I can't imagine that they'll go for it here this deep in their territory but at least they got some positive yard exactly what he had to like on that one was when it cost to flush from the pocket he didn't try and take it all the way outside he did with Mike Deal the offensive coordinator offensive line coach told us yesterday we will protect the inside part at the pocket that's where you flush and that's what he did that time gained seven yards on the play I wrote Gary standing on his 32 bothered to kick it away again not a good pick turns over at the 38 yard line this time Carrie's going to be wrapped up maybe picked up about a half the yard want to see the best in Major League action tune in to the CBS tomorrow afternoon as the Braves take on the Pirates Major League Baseball's best is on TBS tomorrow 1:00 o'clock Eastern Time the Pirates will be the spoilers in the National League this year how about my boy McClendon you know I like the days when the Pirates were on top of that division the Braves in the playoffs did they put on a great play they bid me that's it that's one of those highlights you'll see forever not just on TBS everywhere the running of breeze who would ever thought sit breathe lead a foot breathe tell us you another good field position for from their own [Applause] this time to die tries the right side again they are just assaulting that front 4 of Arizona and this is where as an offensive play caller Jimbo Fischer's the offensive coordinator for LSU is fighting a battle with himself he has great weapons outside Devery Henderson he has money has Michael Clayton legen look there there Jimbo Fisher nobody say take that back I've got Jimbo confused my fault there's Jimbo right there I'm him yeah he's moving right there he's moving on me think I got to keep up with him this time mark is going to be dropped coming up from this strong safety spot Elena milena Park Texas this is an impact player making an impact play this is what I was talking about with Jimbo Fisher fighting the battle with himself they're running the ball so well that you know he still wants to get the ball outside to the wide receiver so on a first down play because the focus has been running the ball first down he takes a shot downfield Mike Hank wits guesses correctly sends the Blitz with the strong safety and layman means gets two hits to bat ma that's the second sack by this Arizona defense tonight we'll put it up again looking for the screen right there George I Andre story on the stop excellent played by the outside linebacker three receivers to the field they come back screen to the short side Andre Torre had upfield rush recognized the play I was able to get back inside and make the tackle and our first intent line is brought to you by own Depot they're supposed to be blocks of one on the play third down and 18 best defensive series for Arizona three wide has been getting good pressure on Matt Mauck when he's taking a five step drop looking deep in the flat Lynott is Michael Clayton they're going to market at about the 35 yard line and that'll be good enough for a first now not only was that a good throw 21 on the pickup but what a great pattern on my plate great pattern run by Clayton but one of the reasons they had an opportunity was Arizona only rushed four on that play rush four dropped seven into the secondary trying to cover up all the holes when Matt Mauck has that much time someone's bound to come free and you definitely don't want number 14 running three in your secondary third catch for Clayton already tonight by the way this is an offensive line $0.16 that was whoa keeping it on the ground with Carrie there's a 30 down to the 27 yard line Nunez coming up from that cornerback spot around San Diego California you know we mentioned just briefly I think we have to touch on just how in a whole mic hanka which was when he came here is defensive coordinator well this guy's good this guy's great this guy's good then they find out because of academic problems and whatever mission warming mission Spencer Larsen the linebackers on a Mormon mission Vince FeO who is supposed to be the starting nose guard dog track again it's Brad Briton left for undisclosed reasons all those guys were projected them to go to to be starters who doesn't have intercept emotion but they keep it on the ground with Kerry picking up good yardage and another first down as we near the end of quarter number one a quarter in which a mistake by Arizona Koster 7 and the LSU office just manhandling right now the Arizona Wildcats [Applause] and we're just going to wait for it to go down and that's it and to the quarter Nick Saban's troops up 17 nothing as we head to quarter number two still plenty of time left in this game [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] with new odor eaters Plus odor eaters second quarter right now LSU out on top 17 to nothing along with Charles Davis Erin Andrews and Craig Sager I'm Ron food and welcoming you to Arizona Stadium on a balmy Tucson night here in the desert el has been excellent on offense so far this evening the first 10 balls on the Arizona 21 yard line [Applause] the ten yard line you know Aaron we talked about the big Steve Peterman the right guard for LSU he is a proud papa though isn't he he certainly is he hasn't missed a beat so far this season even though he may not be getting as much sleep he and his wife Colleen gave birth while Ashley Colleen gave birth to a 6 pound 10 ounce baby baby boy Steven Peterson that was on August 21 safety even told us about the delivery yesterday he said he has never been so nervous in his life not even at a football game he watched everything guys even cut the cord and we hear that Steven jr. is gonna be a pretty big boy party holding his head up guys I don't we gold 6 pounds 10 ounces but Steve kept telling us he's 20 inches long yeah he'd go fill out and I think I think dad already hasn't bench pressing his rattle and you know it's a great great story in the top that off Aaron his offensive line whoo-hoo he's so close to they all asked Nick Saban if they can miss practice to be there for the birth also and Nick laughed and said I'm glad that you guys are so close but there's no way you're missing practice okay about Shaq when he's 6 pounds 10 ounces by the way a big quote for Arizona lion is out of the game with a concussion wants to see walk will run the inside touchdown LSU [Applause] yard touchdown run for quarterback Matlock his first rushing touchdown of the year third time they've run this play tonight twice touchdowns the other for a nice game with Shiro and Kerry they worked once their works twice why not a third time because the end went to the running back inside now this is the LSU story they've brought over 6,000 fans and they're enjoying every minute of this one spicy garlic shrimp buy your grilled chicken and our famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio want more flavor The Home Depot is more than a store it's a classroom where the know-how is free famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio lot more flavor [Applause] is miles away there are more people from Louisiana in this game that live in 21 cities in Louisiana that tells you how rabid the fans are Matt Mauck excellent Drive they started coming in Wednesday with us yeah I think they were all there was a whole lot of [Applause] that was just on Wednesday [Applause] Steptoe first record got some room across the 35 [Applause] great way to get things started use your special teams centric Steptoe a true freshman with a lot of speed get into the gap and now they actually have decent field position for the first time nick coastal state in a quarterback 31 yards on the return he calls the place he does Krypton he likes to get into a rhythm but he is in no rhythm right now and I don't think that's all because of the play calls I think it's just that LSU is overwhelming his offensive front and they can't get anything establish right now [Music] [Applause] we've got some movement so on LSU defensive player jump I don't know if an offensive player flinched when that happened and caused an illegal procedure prior to the snap [Applause] first down Jack wood RFRA John mackovic listening in and right now you know you're in a position you're getting it your lunch Hannah do you know 24 nothing you're only in the second quarter you're not going to get a 24-point play done mackovic has to make sure that they maintain their composure possession 13:02 with 3:13 told the big story right now because of Bella she's ground game relford emotion on first and 15 pasta looking Chloe it was there it was dry let's go to Ernie Johnson advised in our studios all right thank you very much Ron once upon a time Marilyn led this game tend nothing against FSU but then Chris Rix and the Seminoles took over to win 35 10 Rick's 16 out of 29 240 yards and a couple of scores FSU has never lost the Maryland there 14 a know all time now all right Ernie right now we've got second down and 15 ball on the 34 yard line for Arizona no fall the cost on that no and when things aren't going well everyone has to step up and make plays when the opportunity presents themselves so as you speak for a first down Cory that's the first real positive gay from the offensive play they've added a and fortunately for Arizona two out of the last three plays if you count the kickoff return have been positive Mike Bell getting to the corner before before Cory Webster runs him down but not until he gets the first down they weren't bad last year they just had no balance couldn't run the football had to throw it all the time so that big production in the air but because they couldn't run it seems to blow it up and get after the quarterback they sack about 52 times last year three step drop throws it on the flat pass intended for Byron Ely incomplete Ori Webster on the coverage no what I'm noticing now partner is that John mackovic is calling EMI feel the offensive coordinator and there's Mike deal they've gone to max protection to try and give Nick cost an opportunity to have time to throw the football what I mean by max protection keeping the tight end in and make sure he stays in a blocked both back staying in also and then he's only running to receiver patterns ski Fleming number 87 has made some nice block staying in and helping out Acosta's going to call the timeout he's yet to complete a pass tonight we saw Mike deal he's got a little NFL experience and now he'd like some NFL kind of players out there to help them out they trail 20 for nothing this is just the beginning I've seen it before all stop and - you're dead - man has his breaking point maximum arrests Sunday 8:00 Eastern only on TBS superstation an American soldier serves more than his army he's a selfless defender of our rights and freedoms he is proof that one soldier can and does make a difference sergeant CJ overweigh an army of one logon to go army comm let's say this is you yeah you're the king but being the king isn't always easy so when you're with Allstate you'll have over 50,000 professionals to help protect you from claims adjustors who can help you fix a broken castle to emergency assistance to ride your rescue two lawyers that go to court with you if you need them and your Allstate agent who knows the moves to help you helping you the King feel protected just one more way you're in good hands with Allstate john mack of accept seven and one outside the pac-10 while at arizona but he's dug himself in a big hole right now to keeps it tripped up I think he just tripped over an LSU leg they tripped over his own guy was Reggie Sanpei number 75 is offensive Doric blocking on the play he was blocking Bryce Wyatt number 92 the defensive tackle for LSU and take a look here as he comes up into the hole watch the middle of the field for Kosta go see right there super tripped right over his own guys foot that's what knocked him down Reggie Sam feet just doing his job nice block I'm Bryce Wyatt but unfortunately tripped his quarterback third down now for Nick Costas over 4 3 2 the pass Graham Bell shaking today Hill junior out of New Orleans stop and once again they'll be forced to kick it away this time into the wind so it looked like they were starting to get something going offensively but then it came to an abrupt halt and they've changed punters also bogger punted the first couple and now James Molina is in the game but John Mackey but that's not unusual at all after bullpen with these two punters or they try and go to the guy that he hopes will give him a better effort Leena I kick but it's gonna be short about hello think they'll mark it inside the 20 let's see where they finally stop and they do right after 20 cows football on TV is brought to you by the united states army an army of one and all state you're in good hands with Allstate [Music] now kicking into the wind he got it down to the 20 but that's where LSU is going to take over again still a lot of time left in quarter number two 11 43 to be exact and again if you're Jimbo Fisher you've got great talent on the outside the boy offensive line is really moving the line of scrimmage he just continued to hand it off the top but not before he gets to the 29 yard line one of the things the coaches of LSU were doing us a lot yesterday they kept talking about intensity intensity we've got a match Arizona's intensity I don't think they matched it I think they've exceeded it so far yeah can we give him an A+ because we talked about that at the top they have to meet the emotion that Arizona was going to bring them they'd rather it more than accomplish that task [Applause] there's only showing blitz they do but a die gets the first down two yard line pick up a four on the line like what Jimbo Fisher did on these two plays you know instead of getting greedy and trying to get it really deep downfield because the temptation is always there would you have speed on the corners you know on the perimeter with Jeffrey Henderson and Micah Clayton nice out route to Clayton get Matt Mauck a chance to complete a pass I've just added just a simple 3-step drop and then come back and pick up the first down on second in short we talked about the mechanic isn't field I think should go Fisher is in that River walk straight drop has a man into the flat at the 35 yard line pass is complete Justin Vincent the redshirt freshman crosses the 40 up to about the 45 yard line Vincent out of Lake Charles Louisiana for raid all-american but here yeah sorry go ahead pause go say great story here's a young man that back in spring they thought he might be a defensive back yeah he wanted to be a running back and he's a guy out of the Lake Charles he's the only player in his high school history at a barb high school which is a tremendous high school for football rushed for a thousand yards three years in a row gives it off Perry it's in Arizona Territory again is proposing inside of ten minutes left to play here in the opening half struck by something John makovicka tankmen's told us when we met with him the head coach and defensive coordinator of Arizona and the UTEP game they thought they had an opportunity to really make five interceptions they came away with one they said that they were around the ball tonight the same thing is happening in a sense they're around the ball but they're not making the play interception part know that they are rallying around the football that this meant getting guys down second down and four throws it into the flat complete plate he's got some Running Room say goodbye [Applause] eight yards mock the clay true for the touchdown [Music] pass the Michael Clayton eluded the tackle by number 13 Lou Nunez watch number 13 chance to put him down he misses when he comes over and then Clayton's off to the races is what LSU loves about their physical fast receiver getting the ball on a short route he tends to turn it into longer game point is good last week Clayton 152 yards receiving a hundred and over those yards came after the first contact from the defenders does it again tonight [Applause] [Music] that's disgusting you gonna make a stop use the right form stay low use your show a popular true Derek rated E for Everyone [Applause] a great land destined to become a great nation built on ingenuity and sheer will strengthened by new ideas and new technologies and powered by the 48 thousand men and women of Union Pacific providing the building blocks of our nation [Music] baby I got everything I got a little death so there's no homework in front of the TV a computer I got pencils notebooks binders calculators even stretchy book covers we are so set the school want to get your kids off to a great start in school the only place you need to go is Office Depot low prices every day because the earlier you start the better prepared your kids will be Michael Clayton's third receiving touchdown of the year it covered 48 yards in LSU number 13 in the country showing us while leading 31 nothing right here in the opening half move I saw the whole package we've seen him on offense and defense as well as special teams Steptoe go out of bounds the flag is thrown by the coach crazy kick the ball in bounds you know craig sager you're on the sideline and you overheard mike deal the offensive coordinator for arizona he's not real happy right now is he no I remember Charles was talking about how they're trying to get massive protection for Nick Kosta we brought the entire offensive line together huddle them on the sideline got a clipboard out and said listen guys what are you been talking about throw call a training camp what have we been saying you guys are sitting out there as soon as contact is being made destroying your arms up in the air we need to be aggressive we have to be the ones that are moving the line forward I'll get out there change the technique and go after him and he tries to adapt his teaching messages to each individual this time he just said we got to get it together new quarterback Rhino hair is into the ballgame as a penalty Mike Bell over the left side Oh heretic golden child of the recruiting class a couple of years ago a 6x redshirt freshman out of Pasadena California classic drop-back passer one of LSU was lined up to mu-2 far into the neutral zone by the way that nose guard was cocked on the center let's see if Arizona can improve their first down yardage they're averaging -2 yards of first Boston sorry defender five-yard penalty replay first down now the penalty was against the defense and there's Ryan oh here he is a big one six six now the line has to get used to a different cadence a different voice and also a different style of quarterback it shouldn't be too difficult because these guys have split snaps throughout training camp and they knew this guy was going to come in and play I think that John McAfee quad Nick toss to come out a game after some positive plays that's why I stayed in for three series time Steve Fleming Bulls his way past the 45 the 40-yard line pickup of 19 on the play before a spark sometimes you have to find a big guy number 87 Steve Fleming definitely fits that category six six to sixty we saw him on tape again shoot em catch a ball for about a two yard gain and was tackled and shook himself free blue tackle and get down field for about a 20-yard very determined in his running after the cash one time they were thinking of putting it daddy they first got here era back again see some Frankfort he is a level Chatelet coming in from that defensive tackle spot and he lowered the boom on the redshirt freshman I don't get the cobwebs out of your head either that or add to them depending on hook you are at the moment Chad lavaliere preseason all-sec selection when you talk to the coaches about his play they say he's got the potential to be as good an interior lineman as his played at LSU is in you know when his motors are operating on high 18 half sacks last year nearly got one there he's got great hands straight along with his overall strength and that allows him to get open a lot this time they pitch it back to Bell looking for some Running Room Jitterbugs his way down to about the 35 yard line around he crude the junior out of Shreveport Louisiana coming up to take the bridge out from underneath them good job pulling by number 66 Keeley Lefou to the offensive guard walking up Eric Alexander number 27 the outside linebacker for LSU is a pumped up strong safety here's the photo we asked Mike deal about this guy he said he's probably our nastiest offensive lineman and he said he will play on Sundays he thinks he's that good ladies a true freshman here there was only third album [Applause] [Music] [Applause] his intended receiver Ricky Williams the junior out of Los Angeles California saving and Will Muschamp the people took ordinaire fellowship and give me so many different looks on defense that time rushing for able to cover man-to-man in the secondary the crowd wants him to go down 31 this year [Applause] give up the ball now absolutely we're walked over the special teams goes to Mac and just hey let's get after it are you down 31200 M you've had all night long try and make a big play here [Applause] ooh [Applause] on the build up too much time yeah I don't delay of games offense five-yard penalty fourth down I don't think they got up there in enough time Ron don't even attempt that try and draw offsides play they just they just were they were going to do and then when they finally got the play called they took too much time now they're going after pumper ball hook my field position hit generation James Boleyn is going to look to poop dick this woman you need a better pump in he gave him last time ball went out on the twenty but where he was they would have expected a closer inside pretty stiff wind carries standing on his own 11 that's headed toward the end zone [Applause] well it's time for the fan ranch brought to you by Kia Motors which reminds you to make every mile counts back home but at least five [Music] you've a football baby [Music] [Applause] I vote for the dog no offense unless you take it over first and 10 from their own 20 yard line Joseph Addai on the carry we'll be doing that rant every week taking our little rant box with us so when we come to town you'll see our two new beautiful TV trucks Homer a driving them into town and we'll see where the rant box is I believe LSU has changed quarterbacks Marcus R and L number 12 their backup who played most of the allotted the season laughter Matt Mauck was hurt has come into the game to get some experience of LSU up 31 points here's the guy that does it but obviously has control of the offense a little erratic last year but he's got a late again with another catch he's also very intelligent if we get into number 14 that allows you to be a good quarterback in a hurry it makes you very intelligent coming into the game behind him the best target you can find but Randall was the guy last you had to step in for mock and had to had some good ball games but also the game last year against Auburn were through four interceptions they lost 31 to 7 that would that was by the low point for them they finished three and four under him that he started the coke day as the season went on a really big strong spring crack that's from everybody's memory when it comes to markets [Applause] the flat the sophomore on the reception call him Davy Jones and asked if he could sing no I don't do that this big guy plus he's the nephew of the wide receivers coach Stan Hickson for LSU so he's got a better chance for playing time doesn't it pickup of 21 on the play yeah the bluegrass miracle you were referring to with Marcus Randall to Devery Henderson that pulled out a win at Kentucky that looked no chance what sir throws it away and he was sitting immediately on the play layman means on the blitz let's send it down to Erin lately in the spotlight this year on LSU and he's got the tattoo on his stomach to remind him of it that's right his stomach and the tattoo reads all eyes on me now this is something that he did when he was a junior in high school and said his parents weren't that happy about it but he told me the reason why I did it was because of a message his dad used to tell him his dad said you know everybody's going to be watching you so make sure you give 110% Michael I understand that but can't you just write it on your hand or something I like the Jim sports underneath the suit nothing doing on the run by Gary of course we don't have abs like that either oh right now with 553 to play I think if you're Arizona you just want to get in with nothing else on the scoreboard if you're a hellish you just try to hold them back now it's something positive when we talk to Jimbo fisheries that Marcus Randall's guess places improve his business [Music] giving the opportunity from before the show how much she's improved e-skills great idea by folks saving wide open and they're going to add seven the board debri Henderson from Marcus Randall [Applause] near the two they hooked it up in the bluegrass miracle this one covered 55 yard now just last week as we take a look from the all-state goalposts camp Deborah Henderson just running down the field just in the middle of the field no one really in this in the area to cover it an easy touchdown for LSU let's take you back to November 9 2002 Marcus Randall became the hero of a game that's estin everybody's lives he's connected with every Henderson on the 75 yard Hail Mary touchdown Randall stops throws it as far as he can it was Denver he hitters a new cotton on the last play but you know the key to that really was to play before were Michael Clayton made the catch and immediately call the timeout save time because they had practiced that the voice of Jim horn the cobalt playboys for the LSU Tigers almost sounding Jack buck s late great job of member cook gets his own bunt against the A's Bray said believe what I just saw very close to that I'd be called by Jim Hawthorne usually LSU people very excited everything going their way [Applause] nothing 520 [Music] [Applause] we'll take a knee again and just the excitement around Tucson this Arizona team coming into this game was high they felt they were ready we've been in practice the last couple of days and spent a lot of time with coach mackovic and his players and we had the sense that these guys felt that they could at least keep up with LSU and I think a lot of people bought into it around the community you pick up the local paper and they talked about we think this is a different team and you know LSU came in a heavy favorite and people said this Arizona team will plate and scrap but too many things happen to them early especially the big offensive part of LSU just mashing in 10 is going to be drop back at the 13 yard line this telecast is a copyrighted presentation of the University of Arizona member of the pacific-10 conference the conference of Champions it may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form and the accounts and descriptions of this game may not be disseminated without the express written consent for the University of Arizona or the pac-10 conference speaking of disseminated that's what LSU is thanks to the sheriff on his defense right now well with the score 38 now so if you just pin their ears back and go the thinking that has run to it they did Marcus Spears leading the charge the big six for junior out of Baton Rouge was a great athlete he considering its it's only his second year playing on the defensive line he's an impressive specimen and the play he just made when I saw him initially get to the ball carrier I thought it was a linebacker yeah by the way he got out there because he's a down defensive end it essentially just played laterally down the line and then came up and forced to play against Mike Bell and Marcus Spears is one of the alt one of the big-time recruits for basketball coming out of high school also chose to play football and he could see why nick saban so happy to have him third down in 15 inside four minutes in the first half it's collapsing once in the wrong way [Music] better hustle he's got some space now he could instead should have been intercepted [Applause] gone it was right in the breadbasket to soccer out of Tarrytown Louisiana when I took Cameron's gonna look at that tomorrow and go ooh he had golden goalposts ahead of me certainly a bike deal the offensive line coach and offensive coordinators going to talk to Ryan O'Hara because he should have flushed right there see and when he came back to the opposite side he bought himself some time but the LSU guys were all over him if he just crushed initially through the middle of the pocket where they try and keep things [Applause] much happier now Molina finally got his foot in the one [Music] [Applause] whole gets up to the 40 is Bonnie's fly everywhere [Applause] this week's installment of the home depot building a team features LSU freshman who played last week versus Louisiana Monroe how about 11 of them not bad huh and then when you take a look at some of these guys who played I mean it was unbelievable about how much time they got out there hey Jesse Daniels had 42 plays as a true freshman the first game played on Nick Saban has a great philosophy if you're ready to play let's play him why wait especially nowadays the kids are coming out earlier you gotta kill that you came out of them before they go the NFL leave you some eligibility on the table comes the Blitz Randle pump fakes going deep again has an intercepted down at the 18-yard live the soft monomer Carano comes down with his first pick of the year good coverage take a look again Allstate the goalpost cam giving us a great view the balls thrown too much insight too far inside from Michael Clayton you need to throw it closer to the sideline on that route to have him to give him a chance to run under it but Darryl Brooks playing a great centerfield moved over made an excellent play Brooks with eight tackles and an interception Randall with the interception thrown his first interception to us this year there is only skits a bright spot on defense now and they have 3:23 to work with [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what [Applause] [Music] the right side weren't sure if farmer was going to play because of a sore shoulder stick around for our Chili's halftime with Ernie Johnson and Brian Bosworth we'll catch you up on all of today's action including the Oklahoma Alabama game and of course the upsets and there were a couple of pretty good games what is going on with Auburn that's a question Tommy Tuberville and the faithful the Auburn Tigers would love to have an answer for they thought they'd bounce back to this week at Georgia Tech and it did a nice job [Applause] get on the ground the outside breaks the tackle to the 50 still on his feet down in the 48 that's the form that farmer showed a couple of years ago and he led the pack in and rushing point that you can say is special because LSU had a run blitz on and what he did was take three LSU Tigers in the hole make a move and make them all miss and get downfield for big yardage farmer played on there rebuilt knee John mackovic telling us that Mike Bell has really pushed him pushed into a 25-yard gate on that [Music] that get shirty I was back up [Applause] it was LSU on the Blitz again Eric Bates has a man down the line over frozen intended for Lance were Alford he was there I don't have to be in job mackovic meeting perfect to know exactly what he's going to say on this one Ryan son would you have an opportunity to make this type of play we because when you're playing teams as skilled as LSU and your shots are there and you take them you need to connect and he had one right there that got away you try to throw it on a rope yeah he didn't put any air under it at all he didn't leave no dystiny I think he got excited by how open the receiver was that they gun do [Music] in this time here it's gonna be quick [Music] trading interceptions trying to connect with it with a combination route sending his receiver downfield Steptoe the freshmen really the route wasn't run very strong you know it wasn't it wasn't very definite in the way that he ran the route and then he put it up there trying to rub each other the two receivers going downfield and cross and hope to pick off the defensive backs but it never really happened and as you said plenty of air under the bar Chavez Dan was able to waltz over from center field and pick it off too much she takes over 15-yard line keep it on the ground a dime again MERP eccentric Steptoe number one the receiver true a true freshman takes some time to learn our first and tenth line is brought to you by Home Depot but that's good-looking isn't it that's sweet look I mean does that pop out there I'll tell you that orange does that's just because it's always been here from Tennessee [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] carlos williams stop williams the junior out of denver colorado he's added a little bit of bulk a little bit of strength a couple of nice plays this evening have you ever been in a game like this or you're getting your head handed to you and what did the coach say at halftime well I remember we were losing to Alabama 42 to 14 and a half and my coach Johnny majors came in and started with the scan boots [Applause] stepping over some blocks skips his way over to the 32 yard line told me Wingate on the stop Charles but this time it was the lead option we saw with the full-back leading and making the big block see watch coming right at you here why should fullback coming to block on the corner as Kevin stills who bench presses 540 pounds he's like a road grader coming at you wearing a 4/4 on his jersey but but finishing it off coach mater started in with well guys we got a DuPont he just snapped and said do you realize they could score 70 points tonight I'm ever thinking well coach boy that was pitiful problem we got really tough to come back and play but the key to it all pride do you have and coaches will evaluate this film to find out who played and things were tough who continued to hustle who continue to try and execute those guys are hanging their heads they'll be out of the lineup next week when we're back here against Oregon Kerry got close to the first down John mackovic I'm sure is not thinking of any cute quote right now now there's no cute quote but they also so it's a fragile team oh yeah because he had such high hopes coming in you'll have to handle this one delicately but at the same time little Phil what's expected from second down in one losing yard by Clay Hart coming from that free safety spot see that's a play right there that coaches will point to that a teams down 38 did nothing and he's still coming hard and making place that gets a little round of applause from the fans final two seconds of the half it has been all LSU 38 to nothing over 300 yards total often holding Arizona and John Mac effects offense to under 70 here is Crick Sager with Nick Saban well so it's pretty close to a perfect cap to scorn your first six possessions the defense is going to shut off imagine John McEnroe has left to set halftime but what are you can tell your team well you know I'm really pleased with the way we cannot play this is the first time we really came out and started a scrimmage or a game this year where we had some pizazz right off the bat especially offensively you know we think we can have a good offensive football team and I think they showed it today what I'm interested in is we want to play for 60 minutes I don't care what your score is I think it's like great first half thank you right all right Craig that concludes first half college football on TBS a part of big PlayStation Saturday now let's go to Ernie Johnson and Brian Bosworth back in our studios I thank you Ron it it is TBS it is the Boz show it is also known in several areas of the Chili's halftime report and to keep the folks at Chili's happy that's what we'll call it for the duration of this time how you doing boss got a stomach ache that's a horrible game Arizona's terrible it's that's a bit of a struggle 38 to nothing what think the only way Arizona's gonna be able to get back in the game as if maybe they send the manager over the LSU sideline and put some coal and blowing the Gatorade or something good let's hope that that is a hope that is not the case and on that note what do you say we look at some highlights of games that a little more appealing and let's get that done let's talk about Oklahoma Alabama this is appealing for you a former sooner because they went up top did they not Jason wiped and Mark Clayton they did what they said was they were gonna do and they got him behind the secretary got a touchdown Alabama's Brody Coyle Randall's Luke suddenly a 1310 game but the Sooners would prevail here's white again go on up top you know the interesting thing about this play as it proceeds a fake punt and we'll talk about that in a little bit but that's that's Oklahoma Day they take advantage and coach do come back and they break his back 22:13 for the top-ranked Sooners now the number two team in the land Ohio State struggling today against San Diego State as Wesley Williams scores from 11 yards out but it was the defense for Ohio State that did the trick this is Will Allen that's right you know San Diego actually outplayed Ohio State and every facet of the game except for four one and I know San Diego State would like to have the back and that's turnover that gave the game away by giving through me a minute everyone 16 wins in a row for Ohio State a lot of them tight ones just like that 1613 they win it now let's let's talk about the play that we referred to in the Oklahoma game here it is a 1310 game you're back at your own 31 yard line the tide has kind of turning in this game in favor of Alabama and Bob Stoops calls for a fake punt yeah and it's coming right out of Alabama's touchdown and and Bob's this why I like Bob Stoops he's so unpredictable instead of giving the game away he's playing conservative he does this this little fake punt here and it's what it's what makes it Bob stoop is such such a great coach Blake Ferguson hitting a Michael Thompson for the first down there and I guess Stoops figuring you know what if this doesn't work I have enough confidence in my defense that that they're gonna rise up and then hold Alabama as it turns out that's a huge play in a 22 10 went no question about it they they they lived up to their number one billing that defense did what they had to do and they came in they got a they got a big win in Alabama and that's tough to go into somebody else's backyard and play with their toys so Oklahoma will remain number one and when we come back we're gonna head to South Florida because they had a big one tonight Miami and Florida and if you thought this thing was over when the Gators had a big lead you were wrong a wild night at the Orange Bowl highlights coming up welcome to the Chili's halftime report the halftime show like no other on stage of your journey is over another begins [Music] on DVD or VHS return to the legend return to the journey return to the adventure tough on the field I'm actually a little pussycat off the field yeah I can I could tell from your comments in the first segment meantime Florida and Miami are going at it tonight and I tell you what this is not an incomplete pass that is a lateral that's a live ball and that's key one Ratliff going 34 yards Florida on top 1610 Miami come out and return the opening kickoff for a touchdown the Florida takes control of this game or so it seemed bomb yeah this is a game of really big plays and big mistakes you wouldn't think Miami's defense would be this porous and I'd say what floor they're really sure that you can score on Miami problem is you got a step on their throat and shut them out and they didn't do that they let him back in the game yeah Brock Berlin to Ryan Moore and suddenly these guys were down 33 to 10 they closed the gap to 33 32 and they're not done yet because there goes Frank Gore just moments ago in Miami reclaims the lead over Florida in the Orange Bowl with under two minutes to play in that game that is 38 to 33 lucky our good it doesn't matter they somehow always find a way to win and they've done it under Larry Coker and they've done it in the previous coaches it's amazing the amount of talent that comes out of Miami each and every year it's scary it's unbelievable at this point in this season is it I mean how can you tell who really is going to be the elite I mean some teams you say yeah they're gonna be but other teams have have not gotten out to the starts that maybe you think they should yeah I think a lot of it has to do with the team's seem to live up to their hype and some teams seem to want to read their hype and and I think the teams that read their I believe it and they don't go out and prepare and and focus and get in a four-quarter game and play four quarters and you're seeing some of that early early game ugliness early on in this is there certainly been some surprises some close calls we'll look at some of those when we come back with more on the chiles halftime report Notre Dame looked to be in a heap of trouble today against Washington State the story from South Bend and or when we come back [Music] Tammany Parish hospital it's not just how we care it's why welcome back to college football on TBS part of it PlayStation Saturday on TBS Parnevik playstation saturday as we get set to start the third quarter the score tell us you throwing a shutout they lead it 38 to nothing in LSU is 2500 when they scored 25 or more points but Vic Saban is their head coach along with Charles Davis Omron Doolin history does not bode well obviously for Arizona but what stood out to us when halftime ended we saw Arizona literally walk off the field they looked dejected look like a beaten team and that's probably remnants from last year but this is where John mackovic and his new coaching staff would have to be careful going into the locker room but their experience will probably lead them to talk to these kids firmly but letting them know that they love them because they can't afford to lose them for the season right here and now they've got to get after today now we're ready for the second half kickoff LSU will be kicking it off [Applause] Arizona Steptoe going to take Oh Arizona gets it let's see where they spotted it will probably be at the one-yard line my goodness to close a full 60 minute game as he told Craig going to the half this is a great start on the second half big-time hit by number 38 for LSU Geno Jambo Jambo Luka a special teams is that we heard about in our meeting with LSU coaches started now Arizona this is tucked away they wanted to begin the second half when you're down by a [Music] maybe picked up a yard or two on the way let's take a look at our best buy authority report these are numbers that John McAfee would rather not look at it half done but when I look at these numbers the thing that I'm drawn to third down conversions Arizona over six and also what we saw in the halftime stats Arizona only 1 for 12 throwing the football when you count 38 to nothing the ball is going to be in the air a lot they need to make a few connections along the way one pass completion now they're facing second down eight balls on the three yard line [Applause] [Music] take food with the shoulders gets close to a Home Depot first to deadlines but there is a penalty flag back at the one-yard line [Applause] yeah that hurts craig sager you had a chance to spend some time with john makovicka at intermission how down was he well he wasn't down Ron he saw what you guys saw at the end of the half and he had a very tough job going to the locker room trying to rally his defeated troops what he told Matt halftime is listen guys we are very young come out and play with pride we're building for an entire year don't let one crummy half through in an entire year no we did not play well let's go out in the second half try to play well play with pride and let's go out and do the things you know you can do he tried to be positive with him because he knew he they were very down and you talked about pride but also gentlemen the gifts they talked about just played to your own potential don't try to do something superhuman because this is a fragile urkesh he said play to your own capabilities that should be good enough and if it's not we'll just keep walking to a hole another penalty is going to be on the right tackle I believe Brenda chose that's that's a senior and you know that you just don't want to have that happen to have one of your best blockers and one of your leaders and what's happening now is they're trying so hard they're just making more errors their press iron to the snap false start offense half the distance remains second down well half the distance was what's very interest they couldn't even roll the ball over end to end because it would have been too much input in the end zone they just move it a little bit here's LSU now trying to get excited on defense Nick Saban speech at halftime we want to see a full 60 minutes so the defense still have still shown a lot of spirit to start the second half in front of some of the LSU faithful in the corner of the endzone pasta from the shotgun massive pressure deep pass is caught up to the eight yard line Byron Ely the software out of Houston Texas with his first reception of the afternoon and this actually works out we'll just a nice deep out in Nick Costas showing the nice arm throwing it from the from the end zone and the opposite hash mark across field to hit Byron Ely the unfortunate part was that they but came back to the ball so far had to come back so much he lost yardage they could have had about two or three additional yards the ball been thrown down field a little bit farther the custard in actually sitting on it looked down at about three keeping an eye on the ground before getting to the 10-yard line his Bell Bell has that one move he just likes to wiggle those shoulders and I think a lot of runningback coaches gonna say great make the fake but let's get a feel make the one move and then be definite about where you're going that was a great play by number 13 Corey Webster the corner you're not going to see it it because it wasn't a monster hit he's not going to show up on a highlight film but what he did is the cornerback was he held the corner and didn't allow Mike Bell to turn it because he couldn't turn it he had to get the extra wiggling and you talked about partner that allowed to proceed inside out to get him now Molina standing about eight yards deep in the end zone another not so hot kick 35-year kicked five yards on the return the LSU defense that was the question mark coming into the game but a lot of questions were answered in that first 30 minutes and we worried about their intensity to start off at Marcus Spears right from the beginning has played a monster game Jack hunt the strong safety Turner the new middle linebacker forcing a fumble the dal-su scuffed recovered and they've scored off of it Travis Daniels Sean Chapman will lay with the big hit this LSU team has been active and aggressive and they are developing the nasty attitude that makes a firm has been been asking from them a finesse really suits the spring on their didn't get it then but he started LSU's Matt Mauck back in at quarterback Joseph Addai back in it running back picks up a couple but again we see LSU great field position Darryl Brooks on the stop look at Peterman number 72 Rodney Reed number 60 those guys get downfield and they move the pile the oh here coaches talk about moving the line of scrimmage for the offensive line you want to move it forward the defensive line you want to move it backward all night long LSU has been moving it in the direction they party 75 yards already for a die the zebu second down and short don't try the right side first dime maybe goes about a yard passed it for almost Williams on the stop you know we talked about that offensive line what a great group of guys effect I think the old Chateau Mouton food off Matt Mauck but number 60 Rodney Reed how about 889 snaps last year only four sacks and only four penalties but this kid look at his GPA you know he's not gonna make a whole lot of mistakes he's a three point nine in accounting look at that and you know who wrote this article in si John Edie Bradley a former SCC center all-sec Center for LSU football is Roger Reed that mock crows it into the flat this is complete Justin Vincent another first down as he pulls his way inside the 15 down about the 14 yard line it's a very good article because of the point that John did Bradley was trying to make and he's got a lot of pride as it as a former center is that this hardest guys on the field of the offensive line but because of all that they have to handle the adjustments the DAAD fronts the twists the blitzes and the changing of play calls and Rodney Reed one of the better ones out there at playing as well as thank you nice game Jimmy Courtney of backup center also [Music] first down and ten tell us you knocking on the door again just working under here inside the five down to about the two yardline the market at the one matt mauck is is such a great rhythm here's a guy that was drafted as a third baseman he said Terry Kennedy made him a catcher it's a different throwing motion but he's adapted well yes he has and watched the block on the corner coming up to your right right there what a great block by Skylar green the wide receiver for Devery Henderson one of the key attributes of the LSU receivers is that what Matt Mott gets them the ball the other guys rally a block for them down field they're about to punch it in again for another six inside touchdown LSU again [Applause] another impressive drive by the LSU office less than five minutes here in the third quarter and they add six more on the board we go back to what Nick Saban told Craig Sager going off at the half I just want to see us play a 60-minute game I don't care what the score is he's not trying to run it up he's not trying to rope it in on John Mack a big reason he wants to see a full effort from his team and he's getting it tonight Chris Jackson with the extra point the Tigers are going to move up in the rankings they lead it 45 nothing [Music] the Home Depot is more just manhandled [Applause] 45 nothing still 10:41 up player quarter number three step toe takes the seat no next week at ten o'clock eastern time we'll be right back here at Arizona Stadium as Arizona opens a pac-10 Player they take on the Oregon Ducks where settle be followed by the Schick Quattro postgame report with Ernie Johnson and brian bosworth join us next Saturday is we kick off pac-10 play not bad on the 13th of September no and you did not need to adjust your set on the Oregon highlight those were their lightning yellow uniforms and we're you know I'm kind of anxious to see if they'll wear them next week I hope they do you got a few lines working for I'm working like Mike Leach told me at Texas Tech they've got the best my body's gonna fight [Applause] the play-action close it on Shawn Jones crosses the 25 up tonight the 27 yard line Jones the sophomore out of Houston Texas Houston North Shore an excellent high school for high school football here's a young man though they had great hope for but they were real pleased with the shape he came in this past summer and that's part of keturah t you have to grow up and learn that when you go away for the summer you got a job to do when you come back in the fall and as guys come in that are better players they continue to recruit you come in out of shape you might not hit the field in the fall yellow and white jerseys in the whole nine yards and they're just going to wrap them up not much running room [Applause] the way LSU is playing on defense tonight and Dave Peterson getting involved on that one we saw Marcus up Melvin Oliver getting involved there's Mike deal the offensive pulling in offensive line coach not very happy with what he's seeing in terms of run blocking but for the LSU fans the what they're seeing on defense tonight maybe evoking some memories event Owens 204 seventh over Arizona the Chinese bandits are called Itza the championship team their defensive now they're facing 35 LSU bring seven [Music] let's see it could be intentional grind it could also be facemask look like he got turned around pretty good the referee standing right on the plate did not drop the flag it came from a lineman down to the bottom of the field line judge by Questlove that was he was barely outside the tackle well it is facemask so Wes Lowe had the better look from inside the referee might not might have been screened watches watches Kosta comes out look here at number 94 barkis he'll see right there let's take a look he's got a little bit of Basque and little bit of shoulder too that's one of the better offensive place for Arizona tonight unfortunately husana Bentley yeah tough way for tough lady for Nick Costin to get his team downfield so you don't want to lose your head well everything around you is going crazy Kosta is one tough cookie though here's a young man he's 511 211 he squats 580 power cleans 365 and won the 100-meter dash in high school for the state of Oregon so they say same 440 Bell chased down by Dave Peterson coming from that bright side a strong side linebacker spot the senior out of Bristol Florida loss of two on the play but you're seeing the speed I mean here is Mike Bell he's a legit four three four four guy Peterson had no problem running him down and beaters at 6:30 247 as listed in the program size and speed combination to be and the speed of the game tonight is so much different no disrespect to you tell but no way you took the matchup at all at the same speed at LSU branch rivers second in 12 costume passing time throws it on the flat forced that one incomplete lieutenant for Ricky Williams one of the things Mike deal likes to do in Arizona wants to play down in distance last week they were owing to making half the yards they needed for the first down in other words they're facing second and 12 on that play instead of trying to get six or maybe eight they tried to get the whole thing not good management out there no because when you win when you're done down in distance on first down you want to get four yards or more make it second and six or less second down obviously the same thing that way you're methodical marching down field plus the defense can't just be off fires you just mentioned second to 12 is going to get passed with third and 12 LSU brings the Blitz Casta throws this one up for grabs and he wasn't in sync with his wide receiver Mike Jefferson had a slight adjustment on the Blitz read by Jefferson Brandon be fouled and then Kasich thought he was going to rub the go route right up the sideline on the fade just mentioned a pardon not on the same page not even in the same book on Jefferson a registered freshman as Molina will go back to punt again he's gonna be one tired puppy carry standing back 80 yard line every facet of the game has been good for this time milena this is one of his better kicks carry back lost a wheel Valley blue a shoe in with 8-12 to play in the third quarter LSU holding on to that 45 to nothing lead the defense wants the shutout [Music] [Music] Philips digital widescreen televisions life should be so real and every TV should be this amazing it's big yet slim a centerpiece yet first intent from their own 19 yard line they're keeping it on the ground is Marcus Randle back in the lineup at quarterback for LSU let's go down to Erin Andrews here this year the LSU Tigers are dedicating their season to their equipment manager of 24 years mr. Jeff boss right now Jeff is fighting a battle with cancer he missed his first game in 24 years last weekend he was an idiot to get here to Tucson this weekend but Jeff wanted to let you know everybody here is thinking about you even got his t-shirt with a quote that he says in the locker room quite often says no finish line and again everyone here thinking about him we're all rooting for him this guy means a lot to this team guys absolutely is the pass they're gonna call it complete up to the 31 yard with you my friend heat singer on the reception the true freshman out of Leesville Louisiana his first collegiate catch off the arm of Marcus Randall what do you say equipment manager you're talking Division one college football home are a lot more than what the title implies yeah those equipment managers when you have to move a team to a ball game said about people working overtime Jeff all the best to you bene Brazil keep it on the ground because they're to stop Justin Vincent here's Ernie Johnson in Atlanta AJ all right Ron Southern California that's a Omar newsela with a gift 35 to 18 winners over BYU Matt Leinart three touchdown passes for the Trojans who are two and OH following up they're shut out of Auburn with a 35 18 win over Brigham Young back to you all right how about Norm Chow used to be at BYU some 27 years it takes it takes his old team to the woods yet huh yeah Norm's got a lot to work with behind her you know if I was worried about him becoming a starting quarterback this should wait it's the pass away almost completed Brazil handed in his hands and lost it but boy did Marcus Randall take a while from sun-powered company and still delivered a pretty decent ball Marcus Randall's strong in the pocket I was going to talk about Matt Leinart from USC being six six and being able to make some plays when he was so inexperienced going to the Auburn game hoping the hit for Molina on the backside to Randall still almost completed the pass he's very strong young man in the pocket third down and 10 situation for LSU seven of eight on third down tonight over a random plenty of time this time though he's dead all of a sudden the pocket collapses we've got a penalty flag on the field Williams the big junior out of Denver Colorado combination of size speed and strength I saw it all on that play and the flag came after the sack was completed one if someone get tangled up behind the play a couple of lineman get tangled up and got their hands in the wrong spot this is this indicative of Arizona's night may have gotten the hands up into the facemask area as I saw Rodney read number 60 gesturing that way to the official yeah we'll listen in and see what the call is personal foul defense blow to the head penalty will be enforced 15 yards from the previous spot automatic first down look to the right side of your screen the upper right of the screen calls Williams number 92 collapses the pocket you see helmet-to-helmet is they went at it and then the end of the play there he's seen this one are getting into it I guess they're calling the helmet the helmet blow from Carlos Williams I don't think that he went in there intending did that I think this is one thing that kind of came together look like Marcus relic kind of dipped his head a little bit too [Applause] enforce rules for safety getting some of the young players in there we get our first look at Ali Broussard a very talented young man the freshman on a Lafayette Louisiana bake and fasted call him a load they love this young man did they brighten up talking about him we've met with Jimbo Fisher and Jimbo said when he runs the ball he doesn't seem to get hurt but other people do he's run over his Lyman's feet the back of oh he's so big and it's so quick ran over coach Nathan one day to keep his penalty flags throw this wouldn't worry about getting the game getting a little chippy because you have one team is very frustrated in Arizona leontes Sherman was in on it [Applause] another personal file that's 30 yards of penalties and you know I think coaches they don't like bad place but they go ballistic on brain cramps like this it's one thing to fight hard defense first down you know it's one thing to fight hard even when you're down and to continue to be aggressive but to get chippy and go over the line and get there but just what you said yeah coaches say that's not toughness you know Delphinus is not defined by getting a cheap cheap shot or a cheap Val toughness is defined as hanging in there and fighting your way through adversity well right now John mackovic is going to talk about that with his team he called a timeout trailing by a bunch but they still want to play with some pride the Kia Sorento just received the government's highest safety rating and was voted number one in quality safety and quality there's really nothing left for us to say except it is the only SUV with a standard v6 engine front and side curtain airbags and a 10-year warranty all for thousands less than Highlander okay that's all we're gonna say [Music] [Applause] if you don't have a tailgate discounts on many f150 the tradition of a fine tailored suit Barrington Edwards another young freshman out of Bowie Maryland on the carry try on the right side is Dix David goes to the second team offensive line he got black Blanchard in there in court name early Johnson McLaughlin this is a great opportunity to prepare them for the rest of the season the SEC season because they've got some big games coming up of course they've got the Auburn game circle which may not mean a whole lot coming up on October the 25th but you have Georgia Florida and Harvard at home you want to make sure you've got backups schedule sets up very nicely for them and you're right you need to get people some experience in case they have to play due to injury Randall throws it on the flap Pass is complete dwayne bowe the freshman out of Miami Florida another talented receiver a 6-3 - OH - so how about that you have bo wood 6-3 you have clayton at 64 you have Brazil at 6-1 and Henderson is six-foot you've got some guys that's got some height and speed that could catch the football they're able to present themselves very nicely as targets for your court for the quarterback all big strong physical guys Nick Saban preaches tough football this guy's 21 keeping it on the ground Barrington Edwards picks up a couple college football on TBS is brought to you by best by thousands of possibilities get yours and chillies spicy boneless cool Chili's boneless buffalo wings along with charles davis erin andrews and craig sager we welcome you back to Arizona Stadium in Tucson Arizona where it has been all LSU 17 nothing at the end of one [Applause] strong safety spot layman means the software on a Galena Park Texas he's had a nice night on the blitzing on the blitzes but he's weather's been a run blitz to her past blitz he's had a sack tonight it's made a couple of tackles in the backfield from losses good size for a strong safety to it's six three 196 and this is his first time as a full-time starter for Arizona mega coach Hank wits told us as he becomes more comfortable he'll become more aggressive and we're seeing some of that tonight he's become a lot more comfortable on their defensive scheme go from the shotgun on 3rd and 8th see some pressure going to be dragged down from behind at the 32 yard line oh my another personal foul Paul Philip the young redshirt freshman who's trying to get out of the way just kind of fell on Randall and that official has the quick flag dead ball personal foul defense Raven 15-yard penalty first down so when they make a great play as they just did the bag Andre Tory you know go and then it's an excellent call because Paul Phillips dobhan him after he was definitely down and out put a turn call Phillipa spot on the sideline I should Paul start running now or should we wait till tomorrow morning finally me he's talked about those attention it's going to be right I think that he's they're going to be a few people running some attention getters but again we go back to the John mackovic told Craig Sager at the half they've got to figure a way to get their message across without totally browbeating these guys it's only the second game of the sea they were fragile anyway based off of last year they had a lot of hope after the first game [Applause] you don't want to honor you don't want to regress so much after he knows he has a project team we know what happened in November our view as a head coach a little hesitant to give it yell at the guys because of what happened I think you are but I think you're also going to is going to be if you know that that building and the velvet hammer you've gotta use you can lose a fumble and Arizona's got it up to the 23 yard line zài jiàn say Sherman coming up with the loose ball humble was caused by Carlos Williams there's a brace man this is how they'll use it - they'll say see we do have guys who are continuing to hustle and play guys fighting and scratching nice job by Carlos Williams causing the fumble the Z on teh Sherman picks up and tries to make a big return good tackle by Marcus Randall the quarterback so he knows that he's got some positive place to show the guys but he also has some negative ones to show also and say guys if we can eliminate those you know this is what we're trying to get to this not that I mean think about they had three personal all turning to first down I'll turn into first downs and they still he see the turnover situation which is sort of a weak point that LSU didn't capitalize on there's no - kima Kosta going back this is where he's dangerous this man can scoop but he's dragged down from behind picks up maybe a yard on the play that Molina coming up from that or I should say Kirsten Pitman coming up in that spot [Music] dare I say a tad hesitant once he broke into the secondary Dale costume I expected him to dart at that point just go just go right now because Nick Costas strong right he's fast we've outlined as his attributes already and then he seemed to chop his feet a little try get to the sidelines take the gap and go [Applause] second innate again the LSU defense just swarming all over the place not much going on Dave Peterson him with the penetration fans for exclusive news and recruiting coverage of your favorite teams log on now to rivals.com they know how big that was so I talked to some people I've got one good friend in San Antonio that checks it for Oklahoma every day radio shows Mingo for hours talk about this kid ran that that kid benched that and all that hey that's great I seem to see it when they give you know Arizona's gonna have to burn a timeout facing third and 11 with 124 to play in the third quarter he looks like they did have the right personnel in there appeared they didn't have a running back on the field when he called the personnel grouping and that's part of what happens when it teams down big also as guys lose their focus of the ballgame [Music] [Applause] now let's take a look at tonight's Allstate good hands play you're in good hands with Allstate how about if we give it to every Henderson sure why not why not Randall to Henderson covered 55 yards that made it 38 to nothing good hands play Jeffrey Anderson that's a guy who's happy to be back at the apartment playing remember after the bluegrass erekle last year suffered a broken arm and missed the last couple of games of the year Skylar green had to come in and replace it and try tried help with production there Skylar did a good job at Deborah Henderson's a guy too field so he's happy to be back out there playing is that what his nickname is booboo you know if we never did get you ask him that no I don't know if he's a Yogi Berra fan or someone else that the family was but I'm sure it's assurance that name given with lot of love and affection I'm sure if he hasn't made bring me boo-boos tonight has now he's got three or seven 75 yards and a touchdown not a bad little average of about 25 yards a catch at the national play of the year in his hip pocket from last year with the bluegrass America he could forgive to him now this big guy Morris is the only person that wants to forget it that's why they don't think that's why you shouldn't throw the water I think that should be a penalty Gatorade shower should be 15 yards now we speaking of penalties we have another [Music] there's a great shot on our super shot of Coach Saban as we hear the penalty because coaches even though you're up a lot drives you nuts false start offense yard penalty still third down baby 3 set the clock to 124 I'll be glad to get over there I'll help them out Nick Saban is these coaches coach for 60 minutes even though you're up a lot that's what he talked about and I think what Nick Saban is going to be happy about is that as sloppy as Arizona's gotten in the second half the LSU has not allowed themselves to be dragged down into it that's right you noticed all the penalties even a couple questionable ones that we've talked about that went against Arizona but they're all going into his I know she's refused to dive into [Applause] the Blitz Tosca throws it out of the flat pop up to the 22 yard line by Lance relford way short of the first down that'll bring a punting situation you know is the all-state goalpost cam shows us there's a blitz coming from the outside nice coverage by Corey Webster just played it very cautiously and evenly he knew how far he needed relford need to go for the first down he's nowhere close to that and I go back to the old adage you take what the defense gives you but guess what if you need more than that you can't take what they give you that's true if you have to take what you need goalpost cam you're in good hands with Allstate now the putt wasn't all that good and again LSU is going to have excellent field position let's take you back in the game LSU going up 7 nothing a die on the one-yard run how about an 8 yard run and how about mock on a four yard run that made it 24 to zip went up to 31 clayton the 48 yard touchdown reception good yards after catch and as you saw Henderson out of 55 yard toss from Randy [Applause] Terry got into the back Bam's is way in from a yard out we are at 45 nothing the 38 seconds left here in quarter number three Edwards his first collegiate carries tonight the big six-foot 213 pounds freshman true freshman I might add we've got an injured player from Arizona and boy you're John mackovic you don't want to see that nowadays Sherman the junior college transfer defensive back playing tonight because Gary love as you mentioned near the beginning of the game did dressed tonight with bad ankle and it looks like they both play the same play same positions the update Sherman's grabbing his not good tough night all the way around for coach job back at the canaras ona Wildcats look at it again Santee Sherman number 10 and blue helping on the tackle and as he goes down it appears that his teammate stepped on his ankle as he was diving on the pile you know those cleats they're not soft no this is grass out here is grass but the cleats that are on this on the bottom of the shoe when they hit body they hurt and I think that that appears to be what happened as the off day Sherman as he gets off and ginger gets up and gingerly walks off that's a good sign you want to say that good one guy go back to the last series for LSU quickly hurt Allie Broussard true freshman running back was the guy who fumbled the ball he notice he's not in this series good point but they've been rotating between he and Barrington Edwards but I guarantee you Allie Broussard is getting an earful about ball security and son you're going to play on this field I don't care if you're a true freshman I'm putting them out there you take care of the football it's Randall throwing a deep out passage twenty-five down to the 43 yard line Skylar green the sophomore at five nine 190 pounds kind of a water bug it greens first reception of the evening there you see Allie Broussard he is a load and I'm sure he'll get the ball again but he will remember what the coaches said about keeping it well that's the end of three quarters there's only 15 minutes left for LSU to go to a tow for the seventh time in the last eight years they lead by a bundle [Music] [Applause] [Music] Philips digital widescreen televisions life should be so real and information log on to army reserve comm fourth quarters set to get underway here at Arizona Stadium LSU took the lead early and they've never looked back forty fives up in the number 13 team in the country Charles Davis Craig Sager Erin Andrews on round pillar country stay with us Randall on first and ten for the 44 that is a catch to Skylar green as we welcome you back to college football on TBS part of big PlayStation Saturday once again the score of 45 nothing LSU Johnson Brad Bosworth in our studio we are glad you're with us as we kick off college football here on TBS we'll first of 11 games next week we'll be right back here is top ten conference gets underway with Arizona taking on order we have Justin Vincent of Barrington Edwards [Music] youngsters over the 30 down on the 28-yard line it's Justin Vincent as we mentioned over 6,000 LSU fans are here Erin Andrews some of them [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] all right Barrington Edwards gave him something sure about a 22-yard game I hope my daughter at Texas Tech didn't get any ideas about two away games I'm a little worried because you remember Elvis had that plane that Lisa Marie that he would he'd call his pilot in the middle of the night drag off and go somewhere Aaron be careful if Elvis says let's go for a flight don't do it first didn't call for this from the seven for LSU Vinson and Edwards in the I formation first man through Justin Vincent Lee is gonna be stacked up right at the line of scrimmage may even have lost a yard you have to love it though because the people at the hotel the LSU fans here they're some of the greatest they were you know very kind to us today and joking but they were they were ready to see their Tigers play some football without a doubt and you know was interesting I talked with some longtime observers of LSU football and they say we think we're going to be pretty good this year but we are so young we actually think that 2004 is the bigger year I'm not so sure they shouldn't just up there yeah you know they might want to up to 2003 to make the big run at it look at it again a Randle looking in the flat overthrows the intended receiver just in viscid as LSU looking to pick up a non-conference road win which would be their first since 1991 when they beat Tulane 39 to 20 you know I get a kick out of that in that stat for this reason this is a team that doesn't go on the road and play non-conference games very often on the road yeah last year they went to Virginia Tech as a non-conference game that was one of that was one of the few that they've played on the road since 1991 so it's not very often that they drive because they can make more money at home before you know they can fight other teams in to Tiger Stadium Randle going back sees a big holes got some Running Room looking for pay dirt stretches doesn't get it gets down to the one Darryl Brooks laid the wood to him [Music] good effort on both sides Marcus Randall steps up in the pocket there's the gap the offensive line cleaned out the middle of the field for him now watch the effort by Randall number 12 putting his shoulder down and Brooks number six with the big head about 13 total tackles for Darryl Brooks tonight Yeomans effort that's a guy who's playing and not looking at the scoreboard that's right by the way that that game where they actually won a 1991 of a memory survey it was on PBS and the Superdome in the Superdome [Applause] [Music] I'm the one of their losses on TV at Tennessee fourth down and go LSU going for it kick it back Edwards looking looking we have Coronas Edwards has run out of bounds at the 3 yard line great effort by the Arizona defense I shouldn't root but please don't let this penalty be on Arizona I know you know they've had so many good plays negated tonight they've been penalized 8 times for 60 yards and it is against Arizona [Applause] john mcafee kids yeah why not thank you man I have another 12 min on the defense penalty will be enforced half the distance to the goal replay fourth down that's why they stopped them it always helps when you have one more than the other team that would have been that would have been a double problem right there have been very embarrassing if they gotten in and you had 12 guys on the field that will try this fourth down and one again again it's Edwards and Vincent in the I formation over the top no signal there it is another touchdown LSU Justin Vincent [Applause] [Music] [Applause] his first collegiate touchdown coming right at you they are so deep at the tailback position Justin Vincent as a true tailback they've used him at fullback this entire series and giving him the ball and a number of quick hitters going inside what got it was that second effort yeah and that's what they need from him but you think about all the tailback state that we've seen tonight a dye number 10 shyrone carry number 2 Eric Edwards number 32 broussard 22 and Vincent 25 the only way to get him more playing time is to put a bolt on the field at the same time Chris Jackson's extra point is good he remains perfect and with 12 49 left to play in the ball game LSU adds another 7 on a scoreboard what's tell me what's been bothering obviously I've bought ticks what would you do if you had to change careers if I wasn't an antiques broker if you weren't a criminal critics are calling matchstick men an intelligent and captivating field every way Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage in a Ridley Scott film you bet I do this season with a new cow spot from the spa shop it's time to get those tailgating parties going and nothing beats the Kasbah TV lounger with surround sound top it off with our improved line of stainless-steel barbecues and you've got a winning combination we produce prices on all in stock bottles just minutes from the cause we in Mandeville the spa shop has the best selection of spas barbecues pool tables sauna steam rooms gazebos and more 1249 to play in the ball game the number 13 team in the country LSU showing us why they are 13 they lead at 52 to nothing let's go down to Craig Sager with more on the offensive line of Arizona great well round the game may be lost but the coaches are still working together Mike deal and John mackovic getting together looking at what they want to accomplish here in the fourth quarter the first string offensive line for Arizona will remain in the game now I remember last week they all played over 50 snaps to him played all 69 however John mackovic said listen we have not got any rhythm whatsoever yes we ran into a buzzsaw but as long as we're gonna put Nick Kosta and Ryan O'Hair out there he told Mike deal he wants the first string offensive line out there to protect them so they're definitely a experiment going on here trying to work on something that will help them rest of the year I like the amount of practice time fair get 20 hours a week this is just an elongated practice enough for me where you get some repetition and it's a good idea if you're going to leave the two quarterbacks out there doctor counting on to have the best guys out there blocking for them because LSU is just teeing off at this point because they have to throw the football well Ryan O'Hara is going to come into the lineup the big six-foot-six redshirt freshman out of Pasadena California the high school all-american who was also recruited heavily for basketball and I was asking him about and he starts naming off some pretty hefty teams he could have signed with to play hoops they did say the University of Utah with the running Utes yeah he said he had a really good friend who signed there he could have gone there play like belly Gilbert Harris so they got the starting backfield in there John back biggest serious about trying to trying to see if this unit can establish some rhythm before the night Harris passes complete Orion O'Hara says that after games like tonight all he's got to do is look at his little brother Dustin's picture of 14 year old suffering from a serious kidney disease and he said that is his inspiration to play I have a letter he wrote to me during freshman year when he wrote to me in camp and just he just expressed like how happy he was that I was playing Division one football and when whenever I get down or I have a tough time or I think you know life is too hard on me I just think of my brother and I think that he would do anything to trade places with me so now Dustin we wish you the best my friend you're on a kidney transplant list and we hope you get that as quickly as possible but your big brother just took one up side of his head Cameron Vaughn is the one who laid the would do him some penalty flag down on the play also oh my you know the hits just keep on coming that'll be penalty number ten against John mackovic and this is the first unit this isn't a mismatched group of guys the first unit on offense is in the game and another illegal procedure we you look at the time of possession we listen in to the call first illegal formation six men on the line on the offense penalty is declined third down then you look at the time of possession LSU thirty and a half the Arizona offense only had the ball seven two minutes we can see why because they can't run the football say but not they've not been unable to keep the clock moving on offense that last penalty six men on the line usually means that a wide receiver did not line up the correct spot for formation didn't get up on the line of scrimmage and era throws this one up for grabs passes incomplete intended for Cedric step toe Ronnie food and running with them stride for stride I think if you're Arizona now you just want to get over 100 total yards they only have 88 is bowling so many different story lines to this game that we could focus on we talked about the emotion at the beginning we talked about whether Arizona's defensive stand up the LSU's offensive line but one thing I've noticed tonight is that on offense Arizona's receivers cannot get open against LSU Stapleton backs and now Ava they just cannot get open present themselves as a good target for the quarterback hitting that should be arizona's football and it is J Boulware squad and the specialty teams going to get a little attaboy as like Joe lavet was right there to do it [Applause] and on the flipside I got a little hold there too Derek Dooley there Julie who coaches the special teams for LSU he's not gonna be very happy there number 29 Travis Daniels what happens on that a punt like that is the pumpkin Turner has to let everyone know it's not a good punt to get away you know they make a special call that means get away even they didn't communicate it very well there Travis Daniels just just bowed out getting here coach is always like something to harp on on monday down again he's got he's got something to work with legitimate keep it on the ground Gilbert Harris the sophomore out of San Antonio Texas played for Churchill High School back one of his arch rivals was Matt padrone who went to Clark high school in San Antonio it was the tight end now for Arizona Wildcats and they had the Gucci Bowl Thursday night featuring Churchill and Clark and Gilbert Harris has bragging rights Churchill upset Clark little Texas trivia for you there that's pretty good why not called the Gucci Bowl huh it's a nice area let's put it that way see I would have been playing in the t.j.maxx like that you know I see like eras going deep begins got some air out of the ball passes incomplete Uriah Knights in the intended receiver check out what's coming to TBS the maximum arrests Sunday 8:00 Eastern only on the TBS super station you know Ryan O'Hara told us that he loves the long ball but you got to be able to throw got to be able to throw it that means time and I know Arizona has spent plenty of time working on protections down backovic told us we spent you know five hours more than normal on their pcs in practice the last second Ronnie food an excellent defensive play Ricky Williams the intended receiver and that was the best pass that Ryan O'Hara has flown today exactly right he couldn't have thrown it any better but I'd go back to my point and we take a look from the all-state goalposts cam they've just not been able to get away from the defensive backs although that one should have it should have been like Jefferson you know Mike by Jefferson had it right there I think Ronnie's pre-exam may have distracted by a fifty yard field goal right now Bobby Gill has got a pretty good strong way [Applause] I'll pay the plan to win them Lolita throwing it up in the year and now by Ronnie through I don't think that's a plan call no I don't think so now prude comes up with the interception for LSU and they'll take over with ten fifty to play in the ball game the pac-10 education initiative is a focused effort to assist teachers in improving elementary and middle school test scores at the heart of the initiative is a learning program called kids college and it uses pac-10 sports activities for boys and girls to teach math and language skills kids college makes learning fun log on now to learn more the pac-10 the conference of Champions the home depot is more than a store it's a commitment a commitment to having the lowest possible prices every day and not just a promise it's the assurance of a price protection guarantee it's a reminder of just how smart you really are it's a little extra change in your pocket and the know how to make every dollar work it's more than a store the Home Depot you can do it we can help [Music] [Music] it's come from our size me guys see the whole feel the whole time peripheral vision that's the key rated E for Everyone [Applause] [Music] top of the show we talked about how Nick Saban's troops have a very dominant offensive line and he had to agree with us on that we're able to do more things and they're able to help our team more because they have an ability to control the line of scrimmage to some degree but the things we do in pass protection that actually enable us to enhance some of the skill guys that we have and their ability to make big plays is you know because of what these guys experience and knowledge enables them to do in pass protection and I think that's a a real key for us even the second team has done it tonight Lukas Randle back in at quarterback [Applause] [Music] Gionta Sherman recovered the loose ball for Sarge second fumble of the night Justice Stewart cosmic Sherman was the recipient the all-state goalpost camp gives us a great view no ball security in the middle of the pile as Broussard was going down ball pops breezy on teh Sherman back from the injured ankle gets it into the end zone I'm wondering if he was down here let me grab cause this bubble I would say yes I would say that the ground caused the fumble but Arizona is going to be the beneficiary partner you talked about the possibility that the Nick Saban would be looking for things that he'd be able to coach he's not gonna say the ground caused the fumble no he broussard you must protect the football but you asked us to shut out tonight oh yeah but you almost have to go back to the interception yes the interception by Ronnie food was great but if Saban said you should have knocked it down because we got worse filters because the field position you got to know all the plays you have to know what all the situations are and it's a great point Nick Saban has the codes just as hard on this side because Bobby Gill with the extra points college football on CBS brought to you by Phillips digital widescreen projection televisions The Home Depot go from wondering house and knowing at the Home Depot you can do it and we can help PlayStation 2 and the united states army an army hope one so the goose egg is off the scoreboard for Arizona albeit a kind of a different kind of play but nevertheless it's 52 to 7/10 42 and that gives you a little breathing room because as we mentioned next week we'll be right back here is Arizona takes on organ and that's a whole different mentality when you play a conference game because now you have the familiarity of your conference opponent job mackovic talked about that with us he said hey we know Oregon you know we know all about them we hear about them you get your press clippings each week that tells you about the Oregon teams would help you with scouting we didn't know much about LSU they didn't know much about us you just want to play well tonight that has they can get back into conference you're not as intimidated by playing a conference team because in the era T horse that'll be ten o'clock Eastern time right here on TBS superstation and I think he's going to get a decouple game mode one has to go to Darryl Brooks the free safety who's played complete 60 minutes Skylar green [Applause] the 50-yard line [Applause] and that's where LSU will take over first and ten from their own 1510 34 to play in the ball game [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it kind of says it all doesn't it he'll pictures worth a thousand words that's it stels and Barrington Edwards down the backfield for Ellis [Applause] the right side Arizona's there to wrap them up blocks them about one on the play I'll stick around for the Schick Quattro postgame report Ernie Johnson and Brian Bosworth will catch you up on all of today's action including the Oklahoma's victory over Alabama that exciting Florida Miami football game I guess attorney wants to call it the bog showdown no I think Boz wants to call it the Bosch chef that's good for me and you think Ernie's going to protest that'll work I didn't see him no but Boz at halftime when he was talking about playing four quarters 60 minutes of football he's like I was listening to Barry switching and you know we had that accent as a former player your head coach a heck of an inflamed beau the freshman out of Miami Florida comes up with the reception pretty good looking pastor Marcus Randall let's take it from a different angle for LSU Matt long he hasn't played that much that is a good thing I would think you want your starting quarterback to get reps but you're also a guy coming off the seriousness of the injury he had you don't want to take any chances right and they were able to get him out tonight with a quote/unquote limited number of reps because his reps were good prior to the time they've took him out I saw earlier today Michigan kept John Navarre in the ball game because his breaths weren't very good they wanted to get him a rhythm the difference mark and that's the exact situation [Applause] he crosses the 35 up to the 38 marked by the way 9 of 10 throwing the football tonight for 137 yards and a touchdown here he is on the sidelines got the baseball cap which is probably pretty familiar for him to have on getting married like all the players have told us they want to mooch food off he and his fiance yeah I asked him if he if he was paying for all the food from his baseball contract he said he'd get the same bonus Chris Weinke did state as good and of course Nick Saban recruited a moving offense ten-yard penalty from the previous spot replay first down recruit of a Michigan State was thinking about putting him on the defensive side of the football but talking to Matt yesterday he is the guy every father wants their son wants their daughter to marry I mean he is he is the son you want to have he's a pre-med major parents live in one of the great names of Indiana Santa Claus here does that mean that every day he's like this is like December 25th I like what he has for Jasper at the end of us half are from French Lick keeping an eye on the ground Justin Vincent over the left side Louie Nunez comes up with a stop not before he crosses the 25 up to about the 27 yard line as we're closing in on eight and a half left to be played in this ball game I was interesting when nick saban was talking about that mom and the improvement he has made in being able to throw the football because there's a different way of throwing as a third baseman which is how it was drafted then he became a catcher another motion of throwing then he's back to quarterbacking a separate motion of throwing and that's why it Nick Saban told us yeah I thought that was a surprise statement throws it onto the flat to Dwayne Bowe you talk about that at throwing mush I guess we should call Joe Simpson up for this but here's that here's the throwing motion there's the that looks that looks a lot further basic emotion no because now from behind the air but here he is throwing the football and you say he's trying to bring the shoulder get the shoulder through there to finish that's pretty nice right there who had the baseball I like that somebody that's good stuff crews all over the stakes have that talked about a man who travels prepared [Music] degree handle closed it up for grabs intercepted no drop Tony Wingate handed in his hands the junior from right here in Tucson Arizona just couldn't get the meat hooks on it but you've gotta love the effort you've gotta love the effort these are guys now playing without looking at the scoreboard ball goes up in the air poor throw by Randall Bowe tries to get it he and Nunez both tipped the ball up into the air and watch this effort by wingate trying to get the ball and also at the same time he's catching it on the backside by Jerry Shepard who not but bumps into Windgate and actually not prevents it from catching the football well here's a first tonight Donnie Jones one of the best punters in the country as we wind gate is still down is going to kick one for LSU and this is the first punt for the Tigers and Windgate may have just come down on the point of that football yeah probably landed on and knocked the wind out of him that's what we hope anyway we hope that there's nothing more we say Donnie Jones got pumped for LSU he's going to punt Donnie Jones senior out of Baton Rouge Louisiana I hope he stretched out never really get hurt here he hasn't done it all night well it's a little bit better than the last non-conference game on one of them non-conference games last year against Virginia Tech when he had a couple block Bellus she was beaten this is a much better no he'll take 3 to 17 Russell Slaven was that size as a punter in a kick my goodness seems like all of them are getting over lay down now look at Arizona is lining 10 on the the line of scrimmage unless she spread their formation now they're going back to a regular punt formation good snap left footed kicker drives this one he was loose back to the 13 yard line [Applause] Webster that's how you wrap somebody up 751 to play in the ball game Arizona has the football birthday trail [Music] man has his breaking point but when a man has nothing to lose you put everything on the line maximum Sunday 8:00 Eastern only on TBS superstation the showeth stop substance and sophistication is back in primetime every Wednesday night starting at 8:00 Eastern on TBS superstation spicy garlic shrimp buy your grilled chicken and our famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio want more flavor on September 26 give me the rundown one movie it's on takes adventure Wow extreme I hope you enjoy the father let's go rundown spicy garlic shrimp buy your grilled chicken and our famous baby back ribs Chile's fajita trio want more flavor [Music] fifty two sevens pretty impressive score 751 and of course everybody's already talking about is this team national championship caliber how about are they good as the 1958 LSU national championship team that went 11 and oh 3 5 & 2 3 & 7 5 & 5 and a fault diesel had only three seniors among us 55 man roster didn't seem like 58 would be the next year but it was dominated by juniors and sophomores that with a 1000 record a national championship in hand LSU accepted an invitation to take on the Tigers at Clemson in the Sugar Bowl 1959 finished up 11 and o.c at number 20 throwing the pass yes Billy cannon who won the Heisman Trophy the next year in 1959 now how about those teams that team of Paul beats us because men were the 1 platoon football to start me now there's he had three separate teams within one the white team the White team go the go team and the Chinese bandits antlers the white the white team was the team that went both ways laid offense and defense go team was the offensive specialists in the Chinese bandits were the defensive specialist Chinese bandits coming from a line from the comic strip Terry and the Pirates hear about how you know how tough the Chinese bandits work you're good and that's where it came from and that's what they adopted and that team won eleven and no but did you hear them yes you recited the records of all dates of leading up to that year yes Paul diesel doesn't keep his job nowadays three years old he's not around for the national championship year a lot more patience of Brian I'd say the redshirt freshman out of Moraga California never lost a high school game a young man in two games here at Arizona right yeah he's lost two more than he's ever lost he played at Concord De La Salle which is still on the street right our house great players come from I mean they'd be one how many in a row now thirtysomething games is interesting with that team though they don't just you know Harry's got some time this time he dumps it off to Sean Jones the big fullback throws up a stiff arm gets close to the 30-yard line here you can see Nick saving that perfect penalty flag is thrown he's going you got to wrap him up he was right in the defenders face on that one his Jones threw up the stiff arm and the guy he's jumping on is a true freshman look he's ready for him to grow up right now take your ankle and get to the play against Arizona again I think that's what you call being emphatic in your coaching yes when you look at Nick and who he coached under Bill Belichick Jerry Glanville rich Birla Searle Bruce some of the great names they were all high-intensity coaches coaches take teach take on personality of coaches don't they and the coach has to coach to his personality also you can't be something you're not facemask offense 15-yard penalty spot of the foul replay third down on the stiff arm even trying to do the right thing if we take a look right there you got to get a full grasp of it Wow let's get every bit of it doesn't it he had it all yeah but he's trying to do the right thing that's right you know the stiff arm which a lot of people say at the wall start for running back see he but he got it tangled up in the mask and it became a 15-yarder because he never released the mask he you gotta let go well nice little spin move by Clarence farmer getting some running time weren't sure if we were going to see farmer tonight because of a show sort shoulder it was limited in practice this week this is a young man though that led the pac-10 in rushing in 2001 only played four games last year due to a bad knee you'd like to see farmer get healthy because Bell and farmer together in the back field is intriguing it you can do a lot of lot of things with it similar to what LSU had last year with Dominic Davis a brand new toefield Molina with the kick 38 yard line Skylar green lookout one man to beat and take it home Skylar [Applause] 60-yard punt return for Skylar green a little celebration readily in the [Applause] with the new rules they can do after the kick I believe well look look at the space that he's got right here let's see what he gets as he gets back to the wall now let's look and see what he gets block right there nice block for him and then after that a good job here not blocking look like LaRon Landry number 30 downfield smart play not blocking from behind and negating the return after the score dead ball unsportsmanlike conduct on the offense high-fiving the fans the penalty will be enforced on the kickoff now the last time an opponent returned a punt for a touchdown against this Arizona team was 1991 Arizona State they watched a little letter fell that's a weak history you know he didn't jump up he just kind of put his hand up that's kind of weak they're about 59 enough there 59 to 7 is our score five minutes and 40 seconds left to play in this football game [Music] all I want is a house and you got it mr. Jensen from folks will do everything to make you feel refreshed completely lovely utterly satisfied we love having you here [Music] baby I got everything I got a little death so there's no homework in front of the TV a computer no binders calculators even stretchy covers we are so set the school want to get your kids off to a great start in school the only place you need to go is Office Depot low prices every day because the earlier you start the better prepared your kids will be fifty nine to seven is our score five minutes and forty seconds left to play in this ball game let's send it back to Atlanta for a mobile to dirty Johnson and Brian Bosworth who is probably on that 59 end of a score a lot of times possible yeah I think I think Boz you you know how the LSU side feels here I don't think you've been on that Arizona side very often have you know I just think Arizona is just a little off tonight at songs they're not that far away we're gonna see them again next week against Oregon we get some baby backs in for that and we least put some food on the table yeah we will do our best but it's just one of those long nights I reckon if if you're the guys who have the slogan to bear down as Arizona long has but it's been it's been all LSU tonight I think it's gonna be a long year for the pac-10 except for USC I think the pac-10 has been to me for a long long lee boring season it despite that being said the Schick Quattro postgame report will be coming your way we God we got the big 12 we're gonna have a lot of highlights yeah believable highlights of today a little girls soccer game going they didn't play too well and I'm all upset about that and it was kind of a veneer was going to take performance there last week's championship we do okay I'm upset if that doesn't keep you stuck to the set for the postgame report I don't know what will run you Ernie just the your presence my friend everything Brian's gonna be back with his daughter's soccer team working with the sweepers and midfielders there you go make sure that they in pretty improved their performance well Cedric Steptoe had a pretty good kickoff return there that's one of the very few bright spots for John mackovic there's just team trails by a bundle down by 52 closing in on five and a half to play but Arizona has their best field position well here's everybody dancing around yes somebody tell LSU that if they hurry this up don't beat that 5:30 a.m. arrival in Batman back in Baton Rouge no charter jet I'm just laughing I'm envisioning Brian with game film of his daughter's soccer team yeah or got telestrator going this didn't work right if I getting some film with the Women's World Cup team FS this is what we want this is how we got to have it there by on the field for wind sprints by looking at that you wouldn't know that he is up by a bunch now and you've made a great point about a quarter ago about him being able to coach the whole way through and what he can get on him about about what they need to work on the ammunition is piling up for him there as the game continues to go on about different things that he can say didn't go well and these officials speak of moving it along early offside defense neutral zone violation defender jumped in the neutral zone and caused the center to react no offense but that took that they were quick on the high-five when he threw up his hand but that was pretty bad for the coach Nick doesn't like it I think he's probably saying they were drawn offside yeah as any good coach would say when his team gets a penalty against them the defendant fellas everybody was jumping around it just wasn't pretty there is those going to keep on the ground like Adele back in the lineup he's been sitting an awfully long time but as we mentioned it that iPhone near the end of the third quarter and Craig Sager brought up that they're going to put the first team back in because they wanted to get him some wraps and protect him big savings had his reserves in pretty much all the second half but the research has done a pretty good job I think overall even though coach David will be getting on his team about a few things he has come back throughout the ball game LSU Tigers playing 60 minutes here's Bell feel that it takes one upside the head three yards [Music] big hit by I think this is Willie Depp's number 45 going to come into the screen inside out almost perfect on the form taking him right over to the sidelines didn't overrun the play one of the reasons LSU up so much the play of Matt Mauck nine to ten throwing he's with Craig Sager well baseball catcher turned football quarterback has the baseball cap back I guess the game is pretty well on hand why were you sitting able to get such a great rhythm so early and keep it you know I just compliment the offensive line they've been did a great job tonight keeping guys off me and receive a drone grabs I think that Coach Fisher offensive coordinator called a great game you guys talked about going on the road taking out a pac-10 opponent you learned a lot early in this game didn't you yeah we did I think Arizona's gonna have a good team I think we just came out and finally executed and things we didn't do last week we came out here we tried to work on I think you know we did a good job with the team but I think they're gonna be a good team yet decision Brian Bosworth who's been blasting them in the studio why do you think they'll be a good team [Applause] knocking you know I'm all good but I think there you know they have some talent I think they're gonna write people talk about the young team you have the talent for next year and all but the way you guys are playing now what is this goals that you've set for the scene team oriented I think you know winning championships come comes with teams playing hard together was great game today Western Illinois next then you got the conference play with Georgia and sure we're looking forward to next week's game and definitely not looking ahead I thanks like great game right all right Mac mock an excellent individual he's you're gonna hear a lot from that young man good comment to about not looking ahead he's hoping Coach Saban hears that remark well he's also the oldest guy on the team he knows he has a little bit different perspective and you could never overlook a Knick team nicknamed the Leathernecks he's showing some flashes now what we saw a couple of years ago he a couple of plays ago wasn't afraid to take on the defender you know actors always ask all the time when they get ready to a scene what's my motivation yeah well I think Clarence farmers motivation has been number eleven Mike Bell okay because he's played so well since the spring plans farmer needs to step it up here is Clarence farmer just a couple of years ago when he led to pac-10 and rushing and he had that little hesitation then he had that first but speed plus the strength to throw off defenders small wiggle and then get into the back there's down intent from the 11 for Arizona trying to get an offensive touchdown farmer stiff farm looks for the endzone touchdown Arizona [Applause] that is a big-time run my friends and he's going to get flagged for his excessive celebration when he spiked the ball in the end zone little frustration of the night coming out but that was a big time run oh yes Clarence farmer welcome back that's exactly right dead ball I'm sportsman like conduct on the offense touchdown is good watch the move that he makes on the stop here and it jumps to his left look at that he gained ground on the jump and then how about the stiff arm did I say it was a lost art I don't think so that wasn't he goes right it right over Nick child number 26 I mean that stiff arm flatten though that was that was big time that was sweet the farmer getting congratulations from his teammate I'm not going to get carried away here but he wears 32 remember when Big Jim Brown used to use that stiff arm he flattened people who flattened people with it now okay you know you get my point here I'm not going to work times Robert Brown who is buddy but but that was the type of move that he made Wow well this is a 35 yard extra point because of the penalty no longer automatic is it but at this point it's a good practice that's going to be wide to the right and that's the problem Bobby Gill has had last week and during practice this week pushing everything to the right to the point where they worked on his alignment this way and that does not please John that effect because they did spend time with Bobby this week they still pushed him right and another teaching point for John back a big sea clearance will just bike the ball 15 yards now it's a 35 yard or we missed the extra point this is a close ballgame that's a real problem for us let's send it down to Craig Sager SIG's all Ryan you're talking about Bobby Gill having his balls go wide right I met with him in practice this week and talking about it and he analyzed it as far as a golf swing he says it's the same thing he says I'm not following through with my hips when I do that he says I slice the golf ball I'm doing the same thing I have a problem with it but we've worked on it I think I have it corrected by basically landing up and coming through closing my hips but obviously that time again he left him a little bit open we can relate with that pushing hit ball hey Craig did he tell you what handicap he is what's he playing - well I asked him that needs to well obviously around here I don't tell people my candy cap because they have such great golfers remember there's a female golf career by the name ionica one time - yeah she was she was pretty good here what she's bad yeah not bad at all how about Ricky Barnes got to play with Ricky down in Mexico a few years ago and he's made quite a name for himself she's your PGA star it's being of golfers David Toms eg a champion is an LSU grad [Music] on his feet trying to get the ball and it gets loose yep ello shoot got it back with 351 to play ya Annika Sorenstam playing in the LPGA event at Tulsa as a matter of fact don't save us to prowl on the sidelines ball came out again he's not gonna be real happy with that last week they played in the monsoon packet Tiger Stadium 30 don't move all right nine minute rain delay you could almost understand having trouble holding it there but tonight is just a perfect evening started a game we saw a little lightly we were getting worried when she brought it with them that's that's what we were gonna blame it on they went through that during their preseason practice where they had a scrimmage plan and without warmed up and had to go inside for an hour until the Lightning moved out of the area before they go start so they had practiced before that happened last week it gets Lee's in tomorrow the guys will have to regroup because a week from tonight we will be back here as they open up pac-10 play against Oregon ten o'clock Eastern time right here on TBS hope you join us for that [Music] [Applause] it ended before he gets to the line of scrimmage Lucy's about three on the play Andre Torre the junior out of Alameda California I'm gonna stop we talked about this off air a little bit how coaches always say teams make their most to make the most improvement between game 1 and game 2 well for Arizona that obviously didn't happen tonight they're looking for now the improvement between game 1 game 2 and now game 3 hoping they can pick it up and move forward again sometimes you have a little setback along the way as you try to rebuild a program that's what they're hoping that they could just be a small hunt move forward to get ready for majority of the backup role right now because Ellie Bruce are two fumbles one cost with Arizona touchdown Ali's going to be thinking about this for a while as well John mackovic and his squad and when they sit you over on the bench you get a little extra time to think about things and reflect that's a boy he may be the only guy from LSU they will think it's a long flight home you know everybody else because when you win it's a very short flight doesn't matter if it takes you eight hours it's short because you won he'll be the one guy going me well nobody wants to sit next week down you may be carrying the football to class with it come on Jones set to kick it away it's a hold of another one from the 21 minutes fair Kaka and we have a penalty flag thrown 46 yards on the kick another good kick I wanted the best in the SEC and the man is up for the break I award on the watchlist penalties we had they dismounted as we've gone along 16 penalties 11 for Arizona 5 for LSU this one goes on LSU seems like poor doesn't it yeah legal shift probably when they brought their wide guys in for punt protection the illegal shift offense five-yard penalty from the previous spot replay fourth down see they don't you know you just don't you see shifts like the old rockne box floor base you remember that's right the old the old films yep one two one two three hike one and they were so synchronized when they did it yeah just don't shift like that anymore we need more good news well it's another boomer nice spiraling kick recovered back at the 23 yard line 41 yards on that kick with 119 to play LSU fans are still here Arizona fans are not you know as I watched LSU come off the field you know who I saw I saw a number of starting players who were still on the punt team they didn't substitute for those guys on the punt team just that the dye came off the field Marc Spears came off the field Eric Alexander the starting linebacker they didn't substitute that area because you never wanted our breakdowns in your special teams that can cost you down the road other bosses who want to come back to 1:17 to play better come back well era has a man wide open incomplete intended for Cedric step toe [Applause] I tell you Hera has shown flashes though hesitant yes he has he's put the ball in good spots we saw earlier you know where another ball was in the end zone that had a chance to be caught by Mike Jefferson and he didn't catch it Cedric Steptoe was thinking about running before he caught it a true freshman he did he's the same he's the same young man who just bobbled the punt return whoo-hoo and he comes back and drops what appears to be a possibility for a big play if not a touchdown out of Brian Texas Mike Hank was his recruiting area when he was with A&M was still they're going to keep it on the ground with Bell there's that shake move as Tommy makes his way over to the 34 yard line that'll be close to the first down inside of 60 seconds once again next week Oregon Arizona we open up pac-10 play and that's a whole nother season friends in Oregon one today great 31 31 to 20 Mike Bilotti has big win big victory for for the Oregon Ducks he's probably sitting at home watching this right now before to see Mike Bell over the left side hooks up to the 40 yard line and he is ushered out of bounds by LaRon Landry out of just a young freshman a true freshman yeah but they really like him they identified it you know and Jesse Daniels is two guys even before they put pads on as guys that went almost immediately to their to deep and then both of them played well in their scrimmages and that's why they hit the field Game one against Louisiana Monroe Jesse Dan is 42 place they liked the hit you know LaRon Landry had ten tackles in his first scrimmage this might be it Ron O'Hare looking looking loading it up in the air and the pass is incomplete at the 28 yard line intended for Mike Bell he is slow to get up landed awkwardly on that left elbow maybe his shoulder make an ill afford to loosen and the boy does that look that's tough right there because he's watch as he goes up and comes down watch the left side watch the left arm ah that's what that's what it is Chris Henry didn't dress tonight a true freshman tailback because of ankle problems [Applause] [Music] penalty flag is thrown up to the 48 yard line Gilbert Harris shotguns see what happens at the end those face masks he had shoulder pads there or maybe see syndrich step toe number one incidental face now and the defense five-yard penalty after enforcement of the penalty it'll be a first time in the defense of the officials who I got on a couple minutes ago at the speed of the game they're doing the twisting in the hand gets up there it'd probably look appeared his hand on the facemask he had all pads as we saw but it's easier for us because it's loaded all the ways to use the hit - exactly in the naked eye so that's that's a tough call this is the last play of the game maybe we pass out note we'll have one more there's one second left not there just gonna let it run out mercifully yes shotgun they finally let the clock roll up Clara's farmer had a touchdown tonight got that pass and that wraps it up LSU took the lead early on never gave it up 59 13 charles quickly can arizona regrouped they can if the coaches handled us the correct way and you know something I think they will at Arizona it's a great coaching staff and they'll take care of these young men and I think they'll bounce back and play a much better game next Saturday mackovic nick saban meeting at the middle of the field but the final score again LSU wins at 59 13 and of course our next telecast will be next Saturday at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on TBS the Arizona Wildcats will host the Oregon Ducks for Charles Davis Craig Sager erin andrews and the rest of the crew here in tucson arizona i'm ron foulon saying good night from Tucson Arizona after this break it's a for a postgame report but Ernie Johnson and Brian Bob with this computer yes we'll have all the highlights of all the scores plus our weekly feature player feature will be on Steven Peterman our ask the coast question and much much more head coach Nick Saban will join us next after these brief messages inside LSU football is brought to you each week by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana by singular the wireless company that fits you best the Louisiana Department of Transportation and development Piccadilly meals you would make it home by State Farm providing insurance and financial services tile Mart USA the big dog on tile Baton Rouge him and Marrero in Macomb and by Tiffin motorhomes wherever you go we go inside LSU football is a weekly presentation of LSU athletics welcome back to insulation football joined by head coach Nick Saban coach you go on the road the first time of the season and you wanted to dominate controller - scrimmage and boy you set out in the first half and just took care of business you know we challenged the players in a couple ways coming into this game you know I didn't think we played real well the last three or four times we played on the road last year so you know we kind of challenged them to prove that they could you know play in a tough place this is an interest you know national game us to come all the way out here tough place to play and Arizona was a dominating football team a week ago but we also challenged our players to you know play with an unyielding toughness and dominance in the game for 60 minutes and I was really pleased with the way we came out into in the first half and you know scored the first six times we had the ball to our first drive created to turnover on defense got great field position scored again and I think just you know really set the tempo over the game well the Tigers set the tempo early and they scored his coach said on their first six possessions here's the voice of the Tigers Jim Hawthorn with the first half action the sec versus the pac-10 trip receivers left to the near side long running back is a die Marcus short drop throws over complete and down the near sidelines 40 and upended hard at the 46 yard line is Debra Henderson mark looks over the line of scrimmage now it goes under man in motion Clayton to the near side and the handoff right up the middle of died and he breaks it down inside the 45 to the Arizona 43 yard line very close to another first down Joseph Addai is the running back here's Clayton in motion and a play-action fake he hands the ball away to Clayton trying to turn the corner fire side breaks one tackle another and finally gets tripped up and goes down inside the 35 at about the 33 yard line on the far side of the field by sia lila 3rd and 2 this is the eighth play of the drive out of the i-formation straight handoff and this is a die fighting hard for the first down and I think has it waiting on the snap there goes Clayton in motion and the snap banned the handoff and it's a die coming around the near side runs into people down around the 26 yard line shyrone carried the lone running back mark under center hands the ball away to carry and carries fighting hard and is down to about the 21 or 22 yard line low running back is carry here goes Henderson in motion to the far side block rolls that way looks to throw and he does and it is is it caught as it a great attempt than it is a catch by Michael Clayton on the far side of the field down around the 3 yard line Tigers line up piped mock hands it away leaping high and into the end zone as Joseph Addai for the score two receivers to the left one to the line split back formation bill is the running back Constance short drop to throw does throw across the way incomplete on the fire side of the field loan running back Kosta hands the ball away to bill trying to turn the corner being pursued and he will not get to corner and has knocked out of bounds for a loss Jack who headed by Jack hunt Mike Bell is the lone running back as Costas sets up in the shotgun third down and 10 here comes the tiger blitz casa is in trouble and he is going to phone the ball go BA on a scene at LSU give it on the far side of the field yes they did and a die the lone running back two receivers left to the near side mark tosses it out to a die he's got a shot and he is in for the score option play from 8 yards out well that is the end of the first quarter and a more dominant quarter you probably won't see this year it is first and ten for the Tigers on the Arizona 21 moving to our right option play pitch out to Kerry Kerry at the 15 he's at the 10 yard line going around the offensive left side two receivers flank right to the near side macht to a tie right up the gut to any fights hard down inside the 5-yard line second and goal at the 4 yard line two receivers to the riot adaiah the low running back mark is under center runs the option will take it himself and he spins into the insult for the touchdown Matt mark on the option along with a dying play-action fake marked the throw plenty of time does throw caught on the far side at the 40 still on his fate that is Vincent who caught the ball and he's up to around the 46 yard line and they've given Matt Mark very good protection on almost every occasion a couple of lapses but almost all the time and Mark drops straight back to throw this time it does it is caught by a Clayton I believe breaks one tackle then another down the far sideline 20 15 10 he's at the 5 and he scores 48 yards and boy he made it look easy third and three lines up in the shotgun with two receivers left of one right drops back to throw and he does wing it out here complain to the tide in and the first big guy has the first down down up around the 47 yard line at his David Jones shotgun formation two receivers ride one to the left there's a snap Randall has time to throw and he throws it way downfield every hit ursin wide open he's got it at the 10 he's at the five and he scored 55 yards Henderson got behind the Arizona defense 38 zip the Tigers had a commanding lead at the half coke saving in the locker room would say hey it's only 30 minutes play a full 60 minutes well they have more comments from Coach Saban after these messages plus ii have action stay with us on inside LSU football all right it felt great you know we played really good on both sides of all you know offense it's kind of struggled last game just coming out but you know they came out great and i you know defense came out we've stuffed them you know four or five times in a row you know I thought we played really great Mike's been talked about sending his boys to is a Houma mater since they were born when he started getting ready for it financially he talked to me [Music] now the same State Farm agent who helped you Friday is coming to play well on the road that's something that we didn't do too well last year and something that you have to do to be able to win the SEC is play well on the road welcome back to inside LSU football we're here at Tucson Arizona Arizona stating the Tigers are the big win over the Wildcats coach at halftime you had to be pleased with your team's performance but being the coach that you are you always find things that you can correct and so what was the plan going into the second half well I think the plan in the whole game as I said before was to play and dominate for 60 minutes and you know it was pretty obvious at halftime that we probably want on play all our players 40 minutes in the game but we did win our ones to go out and start the second half which we played them for one series then we started you know subbing a lot of guys in there and you know some of those guys got a tremendous opportunity some made some great plays and on special teams in some cases and you know Marcus Randle did a nice job but I was really pleased that we were able to get so many players action and I think these young players that we have on our we plan a lot of young players they need to know the importance of being ready to play well the Tigers set the tempo in the second half just like they did in the first half they really came through with defensively and put the game out of reach here's the second half highlights step toe and Ely back deep again for Arizona the Tigers kicking off from left to right North to South Jackson toes it and it's going to go back about four yards deep in the end zone he's going to run it out back to the five and that was a bad mistake he fumbles the ball is up for grabs it is at the goal line and let's see who's got it alright here we go first in tennis is Kosta he hands it away and slipping up only to about the two yard line Kosta is back five yards deep in the end zone there's the snap he drops back back in the end zone and throws it look a got a man wide open he makes the catch and falls out of bound down at three and you're mad about the scoreboard says eight here's the toss trying to come around the near side to the outside and he does not do it knock down short of the 10 yard line that is Mike Bell mark looks over the line of scrimmage play-action fake drops the throw and does it is complete to Vincent on the near side breaks one tackle and another pushes his way down inside the 15 yard line that'll be a first half two receivers left one ride shyrone cared the lone running back walk throws complete to Henderson he's at the 10 he's at the 5 and he is down to a 1 yard line on the far side of the field will be first and goal to go carry is the running back he has handed the football and he bangs ahead at the goal line he's in for the score Shire own carry right up the middle receivers on both sides eye formation Randall tosses it out coming to the near side to the 25 to the 20 breaks a tackle 10 and out of bounds at about the 9 yard line i formation receivers on both sides Randall under center and he gives the ball away to justin Vincent who was lined up at fullback and he has stopped at the line of scrimmage there's no game there and Randall sets up in the shotgun with Eric Barrington Edwards the running back back there with you there's a snap Randall's gonna run it himself he's got a shot at the end zone come to the near side stopped at inside the 1 yard line randal right up the middle Vincent oh he's in yeah second effort I thought he got in on the first effort but the official waited a little bit Vincent powered it in for Arizona has it first in ten at their 30-yard line out of the shotgun right at the LSU 30-yard line Pass complete on the near side of the field and he stiff-armed Ronny prude and then it's rattled out of bounds inside the 35 at the 34 yard line Ryan O'Hara's the quarterback for Arizona drop straight back to throw steps up in the pocket throws towards the far side of the field and he overthrows the intended receiver O'Hara in the shotgun here comes the Tiger blitz O'Hara throws way down the field and it is incomplete a great defensive play by Ronny prude who broke it up lawyers a 50-yard attempt of a field goal Arizona desperately trying to get on the board 50-yard attempt from the 40 now it's a fake now Molina running around back there is going to throw the football and it is intercepted by Ronny prude down around the six yard line there is the snap there's the punt that's a good one Skylar a chance to run it back makes the catch cuts to the outside goes the other way now he's got some room 40 35 30 look at him go he's going to take it the distance than the Tigers score holy cow and he turned it on forget about it 59 13 the final score as coach said lots of players got into it but there's always a turning point the ball game and no difference tonight I think maybe the opening drive had to be the the trendsetter for tonight's outcome well you know we had decided to take the ball and receive the ball and they deferred Davis the ball as they won the toss so it worked out exactly like we wanted it to be and far-off ins you know we were disappointed that we hadn't started well last week we didn't start well in the scrum ages and kind of challenged them to do that and I thought the first Drive was outstanding and then for the defense to go in and get the turnover on the first third down and get great field position for the next score it really set a tempo in the game that I think you know took Arizona I was singing 15 plays on the opening drive 80 yards you get a touchdown you mix the run with the pass you did just about anything you want to control the line of scrimmage made three third down conversions I think the net drive and that's really really important okay that was the turning point we'll take a break we'll come back with more of insight LSU football as the Tigers have a convincing win on the road against Arizona coach appreciate it all week by going into someone else's house and just dominate and I thought we did a pretty good job from beginning to the end that's how I want us we're doing our part to help the economy at tile Mark USA all our products are first quality products direct from the factory and they're priced to move wholesale prices they're always always hotel prices at the biggest toy warehouse anywhere tile bar USA that's how I want us remember just two seconds [Music] the two-second rolls when the rear bumper of the car in front of you passes a stationary object such down the street from options at the hall they are thief shovel toys [Music] nothing has changed [Music] everything has changed we all know 265 horsepower Nissan Maxima this segment of inside LSU football is brought to you each week by Piccadilly meals you would make at home welcome back to inside LSU football time now for our weekly player feature he was recruited as a tight end but made the conversion to offensive line and now quite a player we caught up with Stephen Peterman earlier this week well I'd say his biggest asset is just a competitive nature you know he brings a lot of effort and an intensity good offensive line my last season here at LSU and last season here with you know some of the great friends that I met and people that I met around here and you know it's just enjoy the game a game at a time and try to you know leave nothing behind leave anything on the field and you know just try to play and make everybody around Tiger Stadium and around Baton Rouge proud you know I play hard for the team and everybody remember remember me like that but what makes him be such a good player as he plays with a lot of effort and a lot of intensity is a tough guy on the field and you know real consistent you know kind of brings the same same type of effort practice and to the games every day the thing that really keeps me going is the motivation on my family you know I want to do the things that are right I want to you know keep working towards graduating here at LSU I want to play good on the field no game has ever made me that nervous was before I was you know up to the time we had the baby and going to that C championship game was you know a wonderful experience and a wonderful thing in my life but when my child was born you know saw that him and my wife was healthy and everything was fine with them you know I have more joy that moment and I've ever had in my life thing that he's really said it's just the best feeling of his life you know he's got a lot of preseason accolades and you know when an SEC Championship and you know all those things you know you know he just tells me every day that you know nothing compares to you know Washington you know baby being born so you know he's a real proud father and K that and he talks about that you know kid all the time you know the whole staff has been fine coach sales was calling me during the pregnancy you know and during the Alliance meeting you know I was telling on what's going on and stuff and you know everybody's been great about it everybody around LSU I mean I just I can't believe how you know I already was a couple days old and he's already gotten in papers and stuff by people you know want to find out about it and stuff so I mean it's amazing how much interest people are taking into it I wear I wear junior my wristband last year wore on my brother passed away when I played before I was born my cousin so I had their names on and I put you know my brother on my wife and I my cousin I put my son on my right and it's you know I just guess it's that time in the game when you know something's hurting you know or you get a little tired or something you know I just look at that I remember you know I'm playing for them you know and I'm playing for my son and my wife but they um I look forward to most of the first game they get to come and you know they get there at the walk when we get to walk down from the bus and come into the stadium you know I'll probably start crying or something because they'll be amazing knowing that my son's gonna actually be at the game watching me so just knowing that they're there watching me and stuff is you know a very good feeling so Steven Padma coach I think he brings that type of mental toughness and physical toughness that you're looking for in all your players you know Steven Peterman is a great example for every player you know we recruited him as a tight hand we needed to play him on defense but he didn't have any defensive on when he's a freshman he went and played tight in for spring in the end up at offensive Garden I think he started for three years now and he's an outstanding player but a good person and certainly a leader on our team he's an influence a lot of other players and we're so happy for he and his family his family on the first home visits I made when really I took this job and they were the nicest people and they've continued to be the nicest people and we just like to congratulate them on Steven and his wife on their child and his family on their grandchild there you go all right now it's you know what time it is right it's time for your favorite part of the show it's time for ask the coach so without further ado it's your nickel [Music] my name is Chris Freeman I'm from North Carolina and coach saving my question is of the linebackers good enough to take us to the next level well you know it's interesting you ask about our linebackers you know we've moved two safeties up the linebacker both of them have tremendous speed and both of us played well so far this season but we still feel like we lack experience at those two positions because we haven't played against regular people all that much and a Lionel Turner was a good player for us last year we're moving into Mike linebacker and he's played well for us but you know Lionel is a guy that we would like to affect the other players with his attitude and intensity and that's something that he's not used to have to deal with and we're hopeful that he'll continue to develop a role in that being the Mike linebacker makes you the leader of the defense we'll take a quick break when we come back we'll take a look ahead the Tigers are back home taking on Western Illinois will have coaches comments about them after these football is brought to you each week by State Farm providing insurance and financial services [Music] [Music] welcome back to the finishing stages I've been said LSU football coach you get to go back home again in front of 92 thousand fans are very good one double-a club comes in the Tiger Stadium in Western Illinois the Western Illinois has been one of the top one double-a programs in the country I think they were in the top five last year they made it to the semis of their division playoffs and are undefeated so far this year in Eastern Michigan's a mid-american conference cool and they beat him pretty handily 3412 Thursday night so this is one of the better one double-a you know programs in the country and probably better than a lot of the 1a teams that we've played in the past so it'll be a real challenge for us well congratulations on a big win on the road your team really made that next step but there's still a lot more to come definitely a lot of steps to come and consistency is going to be the key the success of the future and with that consistency the motivation to aspire to be as good as we can be and if we can do that you know we could probably and and if we're fortunate and not get the key players injured right I think that we have a chance to have a good football team all right thank you very much thank you very much for watching inside LSU football it's been different we're here in Tucson we'll be in the studio next week with all the highlights from LSU in Western Illinois until then i'm jordi Homer for Nick Saban thank you so much for watching we'll see
