the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it proverbs chapter 22 verse 6. this is the guiding verse that drives the mission of yossippi parallel pagasa towards faith nurturing founded on the holy bible aimed at the holistic development of god's children from its humble beginnings as an extension program of the sunday school of davao city united church of christ in the year 1920. uccp parallel pagasa has made history being known as the first kindergarten school opened in davao city through the years it has responded to parents need for continuous quality christian education for their children since the time it was formally organized in the year 1936 until the present having grown as a complete elementary school mississippi pa aralang pagasa has opened its doors emotionally spiritually socially physically and aesthetically express feelings and ideas in creative and positive ways respond to others with love and respect regardless of race class color creeds and physical condition these things we hold true to this day the school is no stranger to challenges that are difficult to surmount to hardest be in the present situation of the whole world jakkovic 19 pandemic has brought a negative impact to families and institutions schools including ucc people are along pagasa were not accepted but for 85 years in operations we have witnessed how the lord pours his grace and love for the school he provides and he sustains the school continues its operation and is now in school year 2021 2022 to respond to the needs of parents and students in this difficult [Music] it's a new day everything shakes when your love came into the darkness you spend a lot of your time [Music] for those who are able please stand we come and gather to worship the lord we come and gather as young people and as young at heart in the service of the lord like jeremiah who was called by god to minister to the people of judah when he was around 17 years old we can also minister to our people with fresh and pristine passion like miriam who as a child had an awesome responsibility of protecting the life of her infant brother we can also be protectors of the sanctity of life like samuel who would have been around 12 or 13 when god called him to ministry we should also be able to hear and recognize the still small voice of the lord in this changing times like david who was anointed by samuel when he was in his teenage years far from perfect if the world would evaluate him yet was called a man after god's own heart we can also serve god through our people and sincerely seek god even with our flaws and failings like mary who was deemed blessed among women for accepting the great task of being very young mother of our lord and savior jesus christ we can be active participants in god's work of bringing in the reign of god like timothy who was probably in his late teens when he was asked by paul to join him on his missionary journey we can earn credibility and good reputation in doing god's mission for when god's people are called god equips and gives them with enough talents and skills let us give thanks for this chance let us worship and sing to the lord our god [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] let us [Music] is [Music] [Music] nations [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Applause] [Music] [Music] lords [Music] [Applause] [Music] we have spoken all the contempt we have given to those around us all the saints we have done we have trouble looking to god in the eye but god gazes at us with mercy and love waiting to forgive us even as we hesitate to speak of the brokenness of our hearts with confidence in god's love for us let us confess our sins to god and seek for his forgiveness [Music] brothers and sisters in the lord this is the good news god intends for us to live life to embrace hope to stay radiant for the lord and make a difference to receive forgiveness through jesus christ our savior the end of our journey is not rejection and emptiness but the fullness of grace and hope in our god rejoice people of god for in jesus christ we are forgiven amen [Music] is [Music] is [Music] let us put ourselves in the holy presence of god almighty father source of all goodness we thank you for the gift of life we thank you for the opportunity to celebrate youth sunday despite these challenging times we thank you for the people who have made this possible and we thank you for making everything possible in your name almighty father we thank and praise you for the young men and women who have accepted your son jesus christ as their lord and savior and for the young people who have offered their heart and service to you and your people we thank you for using these young people as instruments to spread your life especially in these uncertain times lord draw ever closer to those who have made a commitment to you may they grow in grace and in knowledge of the lord jesus in the days that lie ahead may they learn to walk in spirit and truth and to trust in your word knowing that your grace is sufficient for all their needs lord i pray for encouragement reveal yourself to the young people and remind them of your presence in their life encourage them with joy and comfort them when they are discouraged grow and stretch them in a new way lord and pour out your grace and mercy over them when they fall short lord surround them with people who will encourage them and help them draw closer to you surround them with people that will challenge them to grow in their faith and who can help guide them to you provide someone to disciple to them so that they can become stronger in their faith and we and when they have grown born help them to learn how to be a mentor to others help them to guide and encourage the next generation of believers help the young people to pursue a close relationship with you so that they don't wander off of your path raise up youth all over the world that are willing to step out in faith and pursue your calling for their life don't let them fall into the same pattern of sin as the rest of the world but instead help them fix their gaze on you as they focus on you lord help them to begin to see the world the way that you do help them to pursue your heart and will in every situation so that your good and perfect plans would be achieved this we pray in the name of jesus amen [Music] to go [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] our reading is taken from first corinthians chapter 12 verse 12 to 14 and john chapter 4 verse 1 to 8. just as the body though one has many parts but all its many parts form one body so it is with christ for we are all baptized by one spirit a soul form one body whether jews or gentiles slave were free and we were all given one spirit to drink even so the body is not made up of one part but of many [Music] [Music] brothers let us come together in the spirit there's much to be done we will come reaching out from our goal [Music] and they will know us by our love [Music] for sisters we can pierce the darkness as he shines we will come reaching [Music] the time is [Music] it around [Applause] [Music] [Music] children you are hope for justice stand for me the truth now set your hearts on you will be reaching long after we're gone [Music] and they will know you by your love [Music] his heart [Music] [Laughter] and they will know his heart [Applause] [Music] [Music] so good morning happy youth sunday everyone today i have been tasked to deliver the message for our meditation so i'd like to praise the lord for this opportunity that he has given me to be the instrument to deliver his message this morning so before we start let us pray dear god we praise you and glorify you today for allowing us to once again hear your message this sunday we thank you for the many blessings and protection you have provided us in this trying times that until now we are still in the middle of pandemic even after more than a year since the start of lockdowns and even vaccines have been administered there's still no guarantee of safety especially now that there are new coveted variants coming be with us this morning lord as we meditate on your word guide us and continue to work on our lives that we may bring glory as we live as our servants we bring back all praises and honor to you in jesus name we pray amen today the lord reveals into us that despite all the reasons behind these trials and challenges we must remain strong even in the middle of this storm this pandemic is still as large that god wants to restore us over the past season i want to tell whoever is listening today please set your hearts right now because the lord wants to lift your burdens and enable you to be used again by him in destroying times we are one church one spirit and one god just as the verse in first corinthians the theme today is is we are stronger together however i would like to focus on the unifying factor from this verse which is mentioned that we are all baptized in the same spirit which is the holy spirit which makes us one with christ this means that there is something within us which identifies us as a part of the body we are given one spirit to drink and one lord of all i have been checking on people who are close to me i asked them how are you but before the pandemic starts there was a season where when you asked someone how are you they would quickly respond that they're okay or they're fine maybe some are just so polite to say so but some who you really care about the close people to you they would start looking at like three months back of their life and share their struggles they would so often say that they are busy and tired however there is a sense of accomplishment before i have always thought that being busy and tired is connected however looking at the current times we are forced to stay at home for indefinite period where the lord has cleared out our current schedule and we don't have to go out and do our usual stuff anymore hence we stay at home and take our time with whatever we want to do even so i asked the people close to me how are you and yet they will still respond that they're tired can you relate into this you feel tired if you even if you're just at home staying all day even all the stuff that provided comfort with you over the years tired even if you don't have to travel back and forth to work or school especially during rush hour tired even if you just have to turn on your tvs or mobile phones and listen to the message of the lord and you don't have to go to church at all how come we are tired when we are just home and generally do half of the activities back when things were normal this is because being tired does not only mean that we are tired physically how about mentally emotionally financially and most important of all spiritually most of the time it is just that we are so spiritually dry that we no longer feel the presence of our lord in the comfort of our homes this is because every kind of activity now we have to do happens at home our home is supposed to be a place of rest and comfort but our work our classes our daily chores and even bible study sessions happens at home through online platforms we don't have the usual separation of work and rest between two different places we have lost the identity of our homes as a place of rest even just a simple travel from our workplace or school to our home which we could say this is just the time we dedicate for ourselves even just a mere 30 minutes of peace then go back to reality usually he can do the job things have drastically changed that sometimes we have experienced a lot of complications in the process of adjustment however these are just the realities that we face now and are called to transition in this digital age we all have access and the capacity to make use of technology to be used in god's ministry so the question here is how are you really i want to share this passage as well in john chapter 4 which is a story very familiar to us sometimes we refer as the samaritan woman or the woman in the well i went to this text and meditated on which tells me something that i have never seen before i'll read you just to give some context and a little more then we'll proceed i know all of you are tired as well i know you have been through so much over the past season but i want to show you something that i pray will energize your spirit through his word me read you some passage on verse 1 to 3. now jesus learned that the pharisees had heard what he had been gaining and baptizing more disciples than john although in fact it was not jesus who baptized but his disciples so he left judea and went back once more to galilee when jesus learned that the pharisees had heard about him baptizing more than john although actually it was his disciples were baptizing jesus left judea this way jesus refused to be controlled by the agenda of others when you look at the politics during the time of jesus religious leaders have a strong influence to society and what comes out of this is power and in order to keep the power they didn't care what they had to say or what they had to trample on they didn't care who would they hurt or what kind of misinformation they would spread so when jesus started performing miracles in galilee then he started baptizing people he started gaining popularity jesus represented as a threat to these religious organizations which have become so political that they lost the heart of their father in pursuit of building the kingdom of their own ideologies we find ourselves sometimes when we need more of jesus in this text this is not the usual jesus that we carefully select on some verses or the jesus that we learned in sunday school but the jesus who refused to be contained or confined to any ideology or to any organization and the more they create pressure on him to fit in their system jesus never conformed to this he left to pursue his father's business and not please anyone from there let's look at verse 4 it says now he had gone through samaria verse 4 is telling us the jesus agenda is not imposed by any external factors jesus had to go through samaria not because someone told him or not because it was the usual thing to do not because the jews liked it well in fact the jews hated it the jews hated to go through samaria not because there was a national distinction but there was an internal distinction normally the best route from galilee judea would be from jordan river on the eastern edge of samaria because the samaritans and jews didn't like each other you know what sometimes the reason we are tired because we had to go around everything that god wants us to bring through we had a workaround about our pain but the form of the work around creates greater effort which bears us down in the end we must go through some areas that we are avoiding because the lord will eventually confront us with everything that he has planned for us and will subject us to it this is an area where people avoided but jesus went straight into so i'll pass you a question what are you working around in your life that god wants you to walk through and how much longer are you going to do it that way the goodness in his word opens us that god's agenda is coming from the inside in this moment jesus experienced pressure from the pharisees but he's not controlled by that he is guided from the inside it is really awesome that despite the instability of this world it helps us get our center of gravity from god which is coming from the inside he went into samaria because it was the path of his purpose let's continue reading on verse 5 to 8. so he came to a town in samaria called saikar near the plot of ground jacob had given to his son joseph jacob's well was there and jesus tired as he was from the journey sat down by the well it was about noon when a samaritan woman came to draw water jesus said to her will you give me a drink his disciples had gone into town to buy food you see from verse 8 it's amusing it says his disciples had gone into the town to buy food i think jesus got tired of his disciples and sent them away you know that sometimes this happens even if you love the people around you so much that you need to send them away so you can focus on what you are doing and just be glad again when you see them back in john's gospel jesus is seen as the fulfillment of the prophecy as in verse 1 in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god he was with god in the beginning this happened generations ago and started at the bush where moses stood jesus came through generations from abraham to david from david to the exile and from exile to jesus god found a man used a man and found another man and once again used that man but men keep on messing it up so god finally said i'm tired of you trying to get to me how about i come to you and so the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us we have seen his glory the glory of the one and only only son who came from the father full of grace and truth that's john chapter 1 verse 14. let's go back in verse 6 what took place in samaria is jesus tired as he was from the journey sat down by the well which is confusing as well this is jesus we are talking about and yet it is written he is tired there is so much we can do right now but we feel bad about it and we wish we could do more the church is doing everything to be a part of the solution but there's so much we can't do i know you are all tired and it's painful and i know it sometimes it has been lifelong it may be wondering how much you're going to have a job or when you're going to get one or when will all this be over or maybe when is god going to send somebody to get you or when will i know you have all been tired i pray what do i tell them lord these people are tired what do i tell a person who is too tired to go on what do i tell to someone who says i'm too tired and god said i got tired too jesus sat down in samaria to talk to a woman and ask for water but why because he was tired because he was fully god and fully man as much as we love to shout about his divinity that the same god who created you who was strong enough who was powerful enough is at the same time was fully man who got tired have you ever thought that jesus is being weak at this moment maybe being weary doesn't mean you are weak it's kind of hard sometimes to understand if you only see them at one part of the journey some people may think we are weak but we are just weary have you ever thought about that just because jesus is tired doesn't mean you're weak and how do we know that from the text we can see jesus we worship a god who is powerful enough to give us strength and is human enough to get tired yet i wonder if is this only physical or he came through some area because he is tired of how the jews and samaritans are treating each other now the question is where do we go when we are tired when we get tired what do we usually do sometimes we sit down or go to sleep sometimes we just take a nap or even watch netflix looking back on the scriptures when jesus got tired he sat down on a well to get something to drink from a woman a lot of the places that we are sitting while we are tired are only making us more dehydrated a lot of places that we are drinking from only makes us more broken or fragmented now picture this woman she comes up at noon because she is sneaking away from the public who is talking about her she is a woman with the past and the last thing that she would want to see is a man specifically a jewish man and specifically a rabbi jesus says will you give me a drink this is not just a pick-up line and this is not a surface level question this is jesus asking the woman do you even know what's in you in this passage i hear god saying to somebody today you don't even know what i put inside of you and what god has put inside of you is so great if you only see things on the surface you judge how people judge you will never see what's inside when he sat down on the well and asked a woman will you give me a drink he was not talking about the water which is h2o jesus showed up in this woman's situation and i can't help but think it's for somebody who is listening today you have been on your wit's end and i'm not just going to say that you just go on with it and trust god and move forward but instead i want to say sit with him as you are tired sit with him and see who you really are i have to confess i have been sitting on the wrong well for some time i have been depending on people to inform me about who i am i'm also dependent on what i see with my own eyes to tell me how it is but there is a well that does not come from an external source a well that is within you that comes from the spirit that is greater than whatever is going around you greater is he that is within me jesus sat on the well so that he could see what was within her i believe that god is revealing something for us in this season that he has made us for a time that when the world is so divided he sat by the well not because he is tired but because he knew that the woman was tired this is the very god who journeyed through all generations who traveled through samaria just to sit with you sit with him for a minute he might show you something that's within you that nobody else noticed this woman have been passed around like the jar that she carried to the well that day she knew that it what it felt to be used jesus sit that day on the well because he starred or because she was when i am sitting with the lord he has seated me in heavenly places far above every ruler and principality you said that you are tired well god said me too tired of seeing how you treat each other tired of all the injustices of the world this is why god came in the form of the man so that god could be the man that we could never be he came to hang on the cross and say it is finished so that you can rest i know we are all busy with all the things that is going on around us but can we just sit with him for a minute by the well that never runs dry some of us has been empty for a long time ago so god is inviting us again to sit with him and be filled again from within sit with him by the well with living water and jesus tired as he said to his disciples you all go get some food and i'll go get a harvest i believe god sent me to preach this message today to someone who is so tired on the inside and no amount of sleep no amount of netflix and no amount of mobile legend is going to fix it and i believe that god brought you into this presence today for a reason how jesus felt was how the woman felt even you shall faint and be wary and young men shall fall exhausted but they who wait for the lord shall renew their strength and even if you don't have the patience to wait for him he is waiting for you when you are tired you must be very careful that you don't become dehydrated you have got to drink this water you have got to drink this word and you have got to drink this worship you will have to move away from wells that will never satisfy your thirst you have got to receive the water that flows from within and the reason that you come to church today is that god wants to give you water he knows you are thirsty he knows you are tired and he is saying to you come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and i will give you rest he is the bread of life he is the resurrection he is the light he is the shepherd he is the way he is the truth he is divine he is the well he is within us we will never get what we wanted or what we needed from out there it is from within here it is a well that springs from within it is a well that man did that dig it is a wealth that does not consult from external situations it is a well of the holy spirit and god came all this way to sit with you to be with you amen having heard the resounding challenge for us to become stronger together with so much gratitude to god for his sustaining grace and provision giving us a resilience in this pandemic time let us also respond to god in gratitude for all the good and wonderful things that he has done to us by giving our tithes our pledges our support to ministry and mission works of our church thanksgiving offerings and other offerings to god as we sing our closing hymn is [Music] if you believe in yourself [Music] just learn to reach [Music] lift up your hands to god jesus [Music] come to me all of you [Music] is [Music] is [Music] just [Music] lift up your hands to god [Music] jesus [Music] [Applause] come to me all of you are [Music] [Music] [Music] to is and i will give you [Music] let us pray we thank you father in heaven for reassuring us today that life isn't at all that bad even with this pandemic that we are experiencing at this moment we thank you for planting the seed of faith in our hearts and people believe in you in someone who walks through life with us we thank you that with your presence lord in our lives we are never alone because you promise to be with us every step of the way and that you will never leave us nor forsake us we thank you for inviting us to cast all our burdens upon you for those who are heavily laden for those who are tired of carrying heavy loads especially for those who are laid off from work for those who have no work at this moment we pray that you would continue to carry them lord all along and thank you for your promise that our burden will be made light when we come to you and that you promise to give us rest dear heavenly father how we thank and praise you for the young men and women of this church who have trusted in the lord jesus as their savior and we ask that you would work in the lives of all young people who have stepped out in faith in the lord jesus christ like the samaritan woman at the well who sought for what satisfies and made satisfied with you jesus because you are the living water that whoever would embrace you lord will never be thirsty and that whoever would believe in you will never go hungry and whoever who would trust in you will surely be satisfied drove ever closer to those who have made the commitment to you lord may they grow in grace and in knowledge of the lord jesus christ in the days that lie ahead may they learn to walk in spirit and truth and trust in your word knowing that your grace is sufficient for all their needs for all our needs keep them we pray from being influenced by the tempting things of the world and the desires of the same nature and protect them lord from the wiles of the enemy who would seek to disrupt their walk with you keep and preserve our young people o lord as they continue to walk with you trust in you and desire to be stronger together with your presence and with your help in their lives give them grace and wisdom as they face the challenges of life and keep them humble in heart and teachable in spirit may they learn to look to jesus day by day knowing that without him they can do nothing but in his strength he will lead and guide them in all things make them ever stronger together by your might and will send them out into the world with lights that keep shining for your glory and honor bless all your people the children the youth and the adults alike we commit everyone into your loving care for we know that in you we would ever be satisfied and we would ever be secured and now may the grace of god uphold you the peace of god surround you the love of god flow through you and the strength of god protect you and bring you safely through this day and all the days ahead in the name of the father the son and the holy spirit amen and jesus [Music] come to me all of you are tired of caring [Music] come is me [Music] you
