wonderful long weekend that you still have taken the time to come and have fellowship and to be here with one another i'd also like to welcome and wish a happy sabbath to all those who are joining us by way of live stream uh some of our members are out and are joining us we welcome you and we pray that god would continue to be with you to bless you and to supply all your needs i'd just like to draw your attention to some uh announcements that we have in our bulletin i wish that i hope that you would take some time to look at the bulletin so that you can keep up to date with some of the activities that are taking place in our church uh the first one i'd like to highlight is uh something that's happening next week uh next sabbah that's the 11th of september we will be having our coral wood staff and student dedication so we'd like you to make a special effort to be here and as a matter of fact the student dedication is not just limited to students that are attending carol wood anyone who is a student going back to school or hiring school at this time you are invited to come to church next sabbath so that we can have this special dedication program and prayer for your protection your guidance and your success as you continue in your pursuit of your academics academic learning the other one i would like you to look at is our pathfinder club we have a pile finder club is just about to get started and we are looking for volunteers who are willing to come on board to provide support to our leaders and to help our children in our pathfinders program so if you're interested in being a helper if you're interested in volunteering your time with some special skill that you have please remember to reach out to sister abigail who would be willing to work with you or any one of our part finders leaders and assistant leader they are in the bulletin and please make an effort to come and support our children right it is our children and we are helping to create uh the next set of leaders that we have in our church so let us pay particular attention pray about it and allow god to lead you so that you're able to provide service to a church the haitian earthquake that we've all been heard about the earthquake that has taken place in in haiti just a couple of weeks ago uh there's some fundraising that are taken place and uh we the good news is that uh the government of canada has decided to match every dollar that you that you donate to this effort so please pray about it and donate and your funds will be matched so that the people in haiti would be able to get the assistance that they are needed they are fighted they are facing various challenges at this time where they have a bit of political instability they had the hurricane they had earthquake so they are really in need and also they are going through the pandemic so there's a lot that can be done there's a lot that is needed so let us step up and donate so that we can help those that are less fortunate those that are in need at this time i'd like to ask to turn to our reading for today and it's taken from isaiah chapter 32 isaiah chapter 32 and i am going to be reading verses 17 and 18. isaiah 22 17 and 18. it says the work of righteousness will be peace the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever my people will dwell in a peaceful habitation in secure dwelling and in quiet resting place that's a promise that god has given us and let us believe and trust in god's promise let us pray thank you heavenly father for your mercy thank you dear god for being here with us we pray a blessing upon each one of us that you would help us dear god to believe in your promise and claim them and be victorious in jesus name amen well happy sabbath church how do you feel today are you happy well we have reasons to be happy despite not everything is going the way we would like them to example some of you have reached out to me uh last few weeks and asking me whether my family was affected by the earthquake in haiti as as uh our elder just mentioned it and uh well the response is thank god uh the the position where the earthquake epicenter was located is far away from where my family lives so i am grateful for god sparing my family however i'm not really happy about it because we there are lots of people suffering and not just the effect of the earthquake itself but the aftermath people gathering together in common places etc a lot of dead bodies still to be recovered and desperation hunger rape because you know the criminals are always looming situations like that are perfect opportunity for them to do what to do what they want to do so yes keep haiti on your prayers and may god provide so that our people can can find a solace and a relief among all the situation but however despite despite everything that's going in the world i still have the faith that god is in control and he is leading us and everything that happens he knows why and he's taking note and the final words we will all be aware of it at some point in life or if not in this life but when we get to heaven god will set us down and tell us the reason that he did everything he did and i truly believe that and i wish you and i hope you believe that too and let god keep leading our path and everything we do so let's sing the song 5 37 he lit at me because god is was which is always good i could see the landscape i was admiring the landscape and as i was looking i could also see the highway so i'm looking at the highway i see the cars moving from pretoria going towards johannesburg and they're speeding going this way but then i saw at a particular point in the highway there was a traffic jam so the cars would speed past and then they would get to the point where there was a traffic jam and come to a complete hold and i was like i was looking and then i see all these other side roads i'm like man if only those cars could just take that side road and then connect back to the highway at that point they would escape the traffic jam and i was like i wonder if i had the opportunity to just tell the drivers that take a left and then go this way would they even listen to me i was like they probably will not just then the holy spirit impressed upon my mind and god is like that's exactly how i see life and how i see you guys i can see everything i can see the end from the beginning but sometimes i tell you take a left you don't because you're like i wanna know what's ahead or we start to reason but god is like just trust me and obey me because the plans that i have for you are to give you an expected and i want you to get to where you want to go on time without having to go through this traffic jam but a lot of the times it's hard so today as we sing this song trust and obey i want us to meditate on the thought that god wants us to trust him and he wants us to obey because he sees the end from the beginning and as keeping us their god from some of the stress and anxieties that is being experienced by some we pray heavenly father that you will be with us even as we go through these trying times there god we pray and we claim your promise there god that you will never leave us or forsake us but that you will always be there with us we thank you dear god that we are able to come to our fellowship this morning and as we worship you this morning we pray that your peace will comfort us there god and help us there god to claim your promise of victory dear god so that we know that we're able to overcome all things i pray this morning for those who are sick god we ask that you would in your mercy touch and heal them we pray for those who are going through depression and anxiety those who are going through their god psychological trauma at home at work wherever the situation lies we pray that god that you'll intervene on their behalf at this time that you grant them their god the promise comfort and healing that you have promised i pray for young people we ask lord that you will bless them as some of them have just returned to school are about to return to school next week we pray oh god that you would protect them that you will keep them and that you will save them lord i pray even at this time as we about to listen to your word we pray for pavlo that you would cover him and hide him behind your cross that you will grant him words there god that will inspire us and bring us closer today but most of all dear god that you will save us so help us to remain faithful and help us that will trust in you knowing that you who created all things can do all things in us i pray in the love and name of jesus christ amen [Music] happy sabbath boys and girls today we're going to talk about bad company i'm not meeting companies like superstore or staples or or um or walmart i'm talking about bad friends and you know that jesus went and hanged out with the sinners but we have to be all careful who's influencing who are they influencing us or we are influencing them and we have to always remember that jesus influenced the sinners to turn to god that's our job to do in this world so to help us with our lesson i have a little object lesson to show you so my mom will help me with this object lesson so i have two backs i have one that writes a good good apples and bad apples so we're going to start with the bad apple so i'm going to bring i'm going to put pineapple put one and pull out this is brucy brucey's not a good apple he yells to his parents he he he steals and he cheats on his test and he picks on his little sister and one day at class he wrote on the chalkboard do you want to be like brucey and the other boy style was cool so of course they hanged out with him and they and up like them so my mom will put some a lot of vinegar inside so let me shake this back up do you want to try some no cause this is vinegar and no vinegar is not good to taste so let me move to the other back this is bella she's a sweet and kind girl she says thank you thank you and please when it's appropriate and she is she prays for her friends when they're in need she does her chores without complaining and and her parents think she's an angel so my mom will put some sugar and some cinnamon inside let me shake this bag up tight just to block this bag thanks mom now i'm gonna shake this up and now i know you want to try some right yeah looks tasty so you see we have to be good apples not bad apples because if we be bad apples it's not good so let me ask you a talk with you about abraham i like the story of abraham much but prior to that i have a question to you are you tired of waiting for second coming of jesus christ some of us are long members we have all been in life all been in church all life i was waiting ready for eight years 60 and uh we're going to the youngest yeah and sometimes people sometimes people saying we are tired to wait we want a second we wanted yes to come right now because life is sometimes it's not so pleasant that we want to end up and they we want to go to heaven but when that question goes in the air my my question goes do we still have do we still have faith in the second coming of jesus christ because yeah at one point we can be tired but at some point we might say i don't have any more faith and that's where we have to dig in the bible that's when we have to open our bibles because bible is a source of truth and wisdom today many uh today we can hear a lot of sermons and people some people saying it's good we're saying we have to be ready and to be ready that term sometimes confusion because some people taking its efforts and know in their own hands and say i'm gonna be ready i'm making myself ready i'm uh yes i have to keep sabbath i have to keep all ten commandments i have to do good then we make it more hard we have okay now we have to be vegetarian or vegan another step i might have to i have to believe without sin uh we try to make ourselves isolate from the people because i'm leaving the city i want to be in the mountains and we're going going going and then a question when you do that do we have faith in god we got god place us in the in in where we live to be witnesses jesus said you don't hide a candle under that bat you put it on the top to be to shine to people and when we're talking about the faith we can find the bible a lot of verses one of the verses which is says here luke chapter 18 verse 8 says when son of man will come to the earth will he find the faith really really i think apply this verse applies to our our time today really applies we've been a full church a year and a half ago now we have a lot of seats empty we hope that's that we're hoping that half of those empty seats they are online that's our hope we don't know but we're hoping for that today we're going to be talking about abraham and what we can find here in the book of genesis chapter 12 verse 1 lord talking to abraham and telling him leave your land your family your father household for the land that i will show you i will make of you a great nation and will bless you i will make your name respect and you will be blessed you'll be a blessing you know it's easy to preach here in canada why because everybody is an immigrant here one year one 100 year 50 years ago or 10 years or one year ago you came to canada we are all immigrant and at some point who went through the immigration process you have to leave your family you have to leave your country you have to say you have to leave somebody behind you and here's for some of us for some people was easy way for some people it wasn't easy to come here they suffer they being homesick they want to go back they struggle with that but when we look in the uh life of that time asian time we know they live it's not like we are we have as soon as you married you go in on your own you have your house you might move another country no when somebody was like father of the family he be started he has a son son married they live next they built a addition to the house like a you know like a apartment but at one level yeah and as soon as another his son maybe they brought another so it was like a city small city what a family that's how they leave that time and we finally right now in the east we can find some people who still live like this abraham has to pack it up and live at that time abraham was 75 years old it's really interesting i want to keep in mind because we're going to be talking today a little bit about h of abraham his descendants his anchors his fathers and that time abraham was 75 years old when abraham was 99 years old god talked to him and that's my theme today he said to him i am an el shaddai walk with me and be just worthy i'm using a common english bible what happened between 75 and 99 let's see if abraham life was always full of faith and commitment to god when we read in the bible we can find that his life was like a roller coaster or full ups full of up and downs and between 75 when he was saying he left his homeland and 99 it happened a lot but i'm not talking about today about what happened that maybe next time because it's huge it's you know when you dig in that last couple couple of uh chapters of the bible from from genesis 12 to 26 or even to 17 it's a huge stories and stories were something to learn from that in hebrew chapter 8 chapter 11 verse 8 to 10 apostles paul says abraham had faith and obey god he was told to go to the land that god has had said would be his and he left for a country he had never seen because abraham had faith he lived as a stranger in the promising land he lived there in the tent so the did isaac and jacob who were later given the same promises abraham did this because he was waiting for the eternal god for the eternal city god had planted and built abraham wait actually in that time he was abraham his name was abraham he by faith by faith he left his homeland to go where he never been he never seen hitting a hat at that time google and say hey let's see google street so we go where we're going yeah let's see what's what's what's holding me there what what what weather going to be there what nothing he has no idea where he's going he was led by god and when you read the story of abraham when you start reading this and you're connecting with the book of hebrew when he says paul says he is a hero of faith he went out of his land just because of faith not because of love to god but because of faith and question coming up here where did abraham abraham that time or abraham got such faith to obey god from where it's really you know when you have uh genesis 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 11 12 it's only 11 chapters before when they read in other stories we have huge we have a lot of stories but here's only 11 chapters even though three chapters is belong to the creation and sin then the noah's ark flood and then abraham but i'm encouraging you to read this again because it feels like it's it's a little bit no it's really deep and a lot of information there we know from another verse that in romans chapter 10 verse 17 bible says the faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god and here's the game question okay good but did abraham had the bible 66 books pointed to brought together where he found the word of god genesis 26 5 because abraham obeyed my voice kept my church my commandments my statutes and my laws were in the 11 chapters of the bible you will find commandments statues and my laws only one we can find yeah it's keep the sabbath chapter 2 genesis uh chapter 2 yeah got what god gave the sabbath but we that was the commandment and afterwards we can only find that when uh cain killed his brother that was wrong but janice here's the bible says he knows everything he knows about sacrifice sacrifice about laws commandments everything everything and here's come in question where did he get this i found one uh from ellen g white here spirit of prophecy but the true faith was not to become extinct god has ever preserved a remnant to serve him adam seth enoch mathethalus noah shem in unbroken line that had preserved from the h2h the previous revealing of his will the son of terror became the inheritor of the holy trust adult idolatry invite him on every side but in vain faithful among the faceless uncorrupted by prevailing apostasy he steadfastly adhered to the worship of the one true god somehow we find it that only abraham who was chosen to be the to have that trust in god to be trusted by god and here we have to go to chapter 9 10 and 11. let's go to the chapter 11 where's uh we find the name shem one of oldest son of noah when we when we have this noah said he also said bless the lord the god of hashem canaan will be his servant may god give give space to jesus he will live in hashem stand and canaan will be his servant this is the blessing from noah he blessed especially shem and here's the bible we find a special blessing and we find from the spirit of prophecy when elonjah says adam saith noah in shem it is really interesting when we can see here that's hashem and when we go into chapter 11 we see a whole chronology what happened how many sons hashem had and here's the reason uh from chapter 11 verse 10 when shem was hundred years old he became the father of afrashad three years after the flood after arpashat was born shamely 500 years he had other sons and daughters but he had other sons and daughters but everything going from from his first son afrashat and you will see here how their chronological genealogy going yeah afrita father of abraham interesting what happened at that time he has 10 sons and abraham coming to the been born the time when i have to say here according to the bible abraham was born in a time when noah and shem were alive did you know that have you thought about it this is the time span a lifespan if you see here and bible supports this it's not like i'm making something here bible supporter and supports by spirit of prophecy you will see here we know uh noah was 600 years old when the flock came to the earth this is genesis 10 7 11 and 600 years of noah's life and the second month of the 17th day of the month on that day all all the founders of their grief great deeper broken and the windows of heaven were open chapter 7 verse 11. noah 600 years old and after the flood he lived another 350 years this is gives us an idea because his oldest son shem was born uh when how old noah was when uh hashem was born remember bible says noah was 500 years old when shem janet and canaan was born so when flood happened his sons were about 100 years old for us as hers is crazy we cannot comprehend this but that happened that bible records for us here and what we see here shem hashem he was he was born before before the flood then he gives birth to his son arthasas two years after the flood that means until until the birth of abraham it was only 292 years noah lived 350 years and after the flood of shem and after uh 350 years after the flood and shem lived 500 years after the flood and another thing here abraham live abraham's life overlapped noah's life by 58 years abraham live altogether 175 years it's a genesis 25 7. and hashem overlived abraham for 39 years yeah we might be wrong a couple years but that's what we that's what chronology says us here bible supports this and that's pretty much the answer to us where abraham built his faith it doesn't come from nowhere he was he was part of that big family going back to romans 10 17 so then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god word of god was in shem and noah they talked to god they saw flat they know exactly why flood happened i always have a question why we have so much in the bible about the fla before it happened before the thought what kind of life was there we have limited limited information here noah and shem they had that idea they had that knowledge what was happening why flat what happened and what is true god and who is god imagine living that family that's why he was trustworthy he was faithful that's why god stop on him and chose him to to tell him leave your family be witness of me don't hide yourself don't make you really make don't make you ready for for eternal life somewhere no leave go spread the news abraham faith was built on the pillars of faith like noah shem ever the faithful preacher of righteousness lived for 350 years of the flood and hashem for 500 years does their dependence for the opportunity to become acquainted with the requirements of god and the history of his dealings with his father that's what but petra him prophets you can find too he lived with opportunity to hear about living loving uh living god from people who saw happening miracles in their life flat and so forth this hope of redemption through the advent of of the son of god a savior and king was never become extinct in the hearts of men from the beginning there were have there have been some those faith that has reached one beyond the shadows of the present of the religious of the to the realities of the future adam says enoch mafusalas noah shem abraham isaac and j jacob through this and other mercy people worthy people the lord has preserved the precious revelations of his will and it was thus that to be children of israel god imparted a knowledge of the requirements of his law and of his of the salvation to be accomplished through the atoning sacrifice of his beloved son that's why genesis 26 says abraham knows all the law all the requirements and all the commandments he was thought he was taught by a little bit of noise hashem and shem's son yes we know for the bible we can find there wasn't really teres abraham's father wasn't really faithful we have to say that because he was he found the business how to make money he was making those idols to sell to people but despite that abraham will learn from his grand great great great great fathers the truth of god and he kept inciting him because when god called him he was ready he never argued with god oh listen i have to do that and that no he packed and go and now the question do we tell our kids and our grandkids about our faith what do they know because we know our faith was tested and sometimes and will be tested but those experience what we have in our life do with celtics do we tell people do we share that they will share with one another because faith coming from hearing hearing comes from god god's word when we read in the bible we accept jesus christ when we accept jesus christ we know we will be suffering we will we know that satan will attack us from every corner of our life that will happen for sure it's important to tell what we know it's important to spread the news when we accept jesus christ let me tell you a story my story i was born in the soviet union that was before everything collapsed ukraine was that time part of the soviet union and i was born into uh an adventist family my grandparents and my great-great-parents were adventures from both sides from mom's side and uh my dad's side in the i don't know what i i'm fifth generation being in ukraine my grandparents uh both sides were baptized about 19 19 20 19 22. and uh my dad wasn't pastor he wasn't never been a pastor but i grew up in the home of ministry my mom was working as a typewriter meaning she was printing she was working illegally printing cyber school lessons devotionals and spiritual prophecy she was working like this for 30 years imagine uh it's you can only imagine because you cannot even say i mean it's hard to i i understand what's right even myself i understand what was life how how dangerous was that time that time when we've been there we have that was normal life for us but according to the law of soviet union any any printing illegal 25 jail with a complete confiscation and my mom did this for 30 years and i saw the faithfulness of my parents to god from day one to god's work uh to do god's work illegally you must be faithful otherwise it's not gonna it's not gonna work and um my story coming here when i went to school uh 1983 that was first great i uh i came to school and school of course wasn't easy because it was a communism party and in that time changes and the leadership was quite happening pretty much every year and some guys were strong some but some less but despite everything school was against religion 100 you cannot be a believer you cannot believe god because everything is if they say it's a joke on the first elementary school i was going to sub to chur um going to school on sabbath sometime not on regular base but i was going and teacher was telling my parents if we can keep him in school not to make a big problem here and she promised to us she was said you know i'll make easy classes for um for sabbath and classes was like music or something nature and it was one or two class and you can go home and my parents can agree on that terms and say okay and but three years passed fast you know kids are going fast three years elementary is done and now it's coming to junior high and junior high it's already different school you have a lot of teachers a lot of classes you have to go from one to the side of the school to another side of the school and start happening i got my home teacher she knows of course about me but she said she's able to deal because she was one of the favorite uh teachers for to teach communism and stuff like that so she was really passionate about it and here's i am and on first sabbath of september like today school happening because we're going everybody went to school six times six days a week that time and they came and uh with the something in mind that probably that's that's about to be my last sabbath at the school because i saw the schedule and somebody who did the schedule they he was really passionate about me to convert me from one side to another because half of half of the day was workshop workshop at the wood shop we had a special building outside of the school and that was really work you know it's like some nature no you have to change your clothes and you have to go work so when i saw that schedule say this and that's probably my last summer but we'll see how it goes i went to shore i went to school and uh like um by noon because you know it's like looks somewhere here you know classes but i know then noone has a big break at that point i'm coming to my teacher say listen home teacher say i have to inform you i'm not going to that class and probably this is the last sabbah when i came to school of course for that teacher it was a shock because um anybody who who had that country where you grew up i know if you guys see a lot of immigrants here when you have a hard time to to be believer it's not that easy to come and stray forward to tell your beliefs or whatever you want to say because authority when they say that um dictators take power yeah it's hard to tell something free speech no free speech you can yeah you can have free speech when you go in in your room and shut down the door you can have free speech but nobody has a free speech like that here's coming kind of free speeches she was shocked because i openly came talking this and that's it it's done um she said you know what okay you have to go to principal she tries to scare me to go to principal i turn myself i'm going to principal here afterwards we've learned from her she was shocked more because to go into principle i mean in our schools here nobody wants to go to principle 2 because it's a conversation nobody want to have here but that time i was 10 years old 10 11 going to principal on on your own will it's crazy absolutely crazy here's i'm going to principal and she's following me that was on the second floor i'm coming to principal principal doris locked he she wasn't she wasn't there okay i'm turning myself and i'm going to ass assistant principal that was another office big one and uh i came and i'm telling them saying what i told her because of the schedule of the sabbath on the on the sabbath day what's happening here workshop you put you put us purposely i'm not i'm not coming here anymore done that's my that's the last school and that was day when i came came here on sabbath uh they were a little bit shocked but those guys was more more atheist than my home teacher what that found later because they started pressing me of course it was about an hour talk they challenged me a lot of questions what how and you know and last question what they told me they asked me see here you know what how about if we will with our authority of course we have they have power and i'm here 10 years old boy if we're gonna make you to go to workshop what's gonna happen they will they might be i don't know what they want to see here something you know thunderstorm or say i don't know nothing will happen i'm telling you what nothing will happen of course you have a power you can hear because you know but i wasn't she was afraid to come in to that to that room she was behind the door she was behind the door listen and she was scared to death because listen this guy talking crazy to this assistance principles and when i say the out i went out i said i told my home teacher i'm going home and after that class after that meeting i was pushed i mean obligated every monday to stood in the front of the class and tell everyone where i was on sabbath that was kind of a make me guilty make me not comfortable um i would say maybe it was happened for a couple of couple years then they then they got tired they said okay enough we know we know where you're going so don't worry about it anymore and time was already changing the soviet union but my question today every one of you have test in your life when we your faith were tested what's this you cannot have life without it no matter what country you live your faith will be tested abraham had the test first test was really easy because when god told him to leave he packed and go he didn't argue with that when god told him i will you will have a son special son because you came to the promised land and you will be a chosen you will have i'm gonna have a special people from your son and that point abraham faith a little bit slowed down because he tried to grab that idea in his own hands that's another story but to happen and after that what happened with within within his family without him sarah and that servant god talked to abraham again because when god told him you have a son abraham was 85 years old next time you find this abraham when i got is chapter 17 genesis chapter 17. verse 1 um you will find uh abraham was 99 years old the lord appeared to abraham and said to him i am el shaddai walk with me and be trustworthy god god was silent for 13 years 13 years of life silence we don't want to say abraham didn't didn't pray to god but god was silent to god to abraham and here's nine years years old abraham listened to god again said walk with me and be trust worthy he didn't tell me anything when he read in this chapters is so powerful that abraham knows exactly what god talking to him and what god talks to me walk with me immediately i know who who worked with god who was who walked with god and he disappeared amen and here's just walk with me don't make extra rules for yourself just follow what i told you here's this thing here 75 85 missed it here 99 and then god's got talking to abraham when abraham about 1267 years old roughly and here's this date your son only your only son whom you love isaac and go to the land of morya offer him as an entirely burnt offering there will no one of the mountains will that i will show you who everybody has kids even you have kids you have your love
