[Music] well we ended up cutting wheat till a little after nine o'clock last night they were calling for rain today we got a shower overnight and we got a shower here just a little while ago so we won't be able to cut any Wheat today we're gonna try to get the problem fixed with that separator warning light I had that header panel unplugged uh yesterday which is not a good idea because it doesn't give you any warning lights for any of the other functions that might be throwing a little mishap on yeah so Sarah's going to get up into combine and I'm going to just start goofing around with wires working back from that engine compartment all the way up through to the cab we're gonna see if we can't maybe find where the wires are shorted out we had a fun job this morning working on her truck I didn't video any of it the turn signals weren't working [Music] so I dove into it and I don't really know what fixed it but we took out the wire harness from the front hood all the way back through unclipped it all checked all the wires it was one of the cab controllers up on the front firewall we unplugged that several times we're not sure if bat did it or if we have a wire connection issue somewhere that's working now so you can't fix what ain't broken so we are getting some fuel pumped in there and then once we can shut this fuel pump off we'll be able to hear each other a little better and hopefully we can get this figured out so we'll show you what we're working with while this feels pumping so what there is is a sensor down inside the straw Walker area it's actually bolted right to the top of the housing right there and what this does I don't know if you can see it down in here or not [Music] yeah there's like a little dovetail like type piece if the straw or when the straw if it happens gets filled up into this area it'll hit that sensor and tell you your separator is plugging not really the separator that's plugging it's your straw Walkers that are plugging hey right that is Works off of whether Works off a oven open circuit or a closed circuit we are out of fuel and we're full anyways so we burned 100 gallons of fuel yesterday or somewhere thereabouts so I will explain how that works here in a second once we get this fuel pump shut off all right we've got our fuel hose put away now how this works is if that what did I explain already straw Walker area gets plugged up it hits that a little dovetail piece that closes the circuit when it closes the circuit light turns on that uh also runs the buzzer which if I could unplug the buzzer that would help too so this wire harness here uh where the heck is it the plug GED in right here so where is here is the pigtail for that sensor is right here so what I did was I cut the plug off because I didn't know if maybe the plug was shorting out so that didn't work so now what we're going to do is we're going to split all this Loom off I did put this zip tie on here yesterday and this wire harness was laying right there so I'm thinking I could possibly have a broken wire right in there but the thing is it both wires have to be broken or the one one of the wires has to be touching another wire to close the circuit in other words it's grounding out on something so it could be here it could be up through the frame rail there so we'll have to uh pull some Loom off uh we're gonna get Loom pulled off and then we're going to work on the phone back and forth with uh Sarah here and we'll fill you in on what we find wow we think we found it um all I did is I pulled just a little Loom off in the back and I followed the wire harness up through and as soon as I moved it right here it's on yeah all right let's see here still on now it's off okay so if I can wear it hung on this Frame right here this is still on oh come on I can shut my phone off right because we're like really close if anything else if we can't find a bare wire we can at least go in here and cut them uh they put just a little bit of tape on this Moon now it's that it's a it's a pink wire along with a black one still on I don't know it's these two wires right here so hot or off stoves they're easily identifiable because they're lighter gauge am I looking at the right ones maybe I'm not looking at the right ones here I think could be in that there too but I was thinking on or off what's up oh we got a broken wire no I thought it was a broken wire but it was just a way of that covering was on that let's go down below here [Applause] it's on or off ah it's off yeah all right we're gonna have to keep fiddling with it it comes right up through here I don't know why I was touching it here but this makes a swing back this way and goes into the cab why am I thinking it comes this way it might not come up into here at all whoo yeah I'm not sure it might come into here and turn around on off let me know when it goes on huh wow we'll joined back up with you in a little while here we gotta keep fiddling with it well we may or may not have found it so this was chafed through here but I can't find another wire that is oh wait a minute that that brown one is chafed but anyway I've got a little jumper wire here and if I got to get some electrical tape here and get on there but if I clip this to here you know when it turns on put on and still off now it's on time now um [Music] all right so I think this is too easy at this point but I am going to tape this up uh no this brown wire here has got a little spot in it but I suppose if this was tight enough and you know where it rubbed against it rubbed right there rubbed right on the Edge you want to see that Sarah rubbed right on the edge of what is that it's the elevator the elevator yeah so it rubbed right there and that chafed through so that makes sense it was just banging against that like that so we're gonna go ahead and put some tape on this and uh I can hook up my plug right I don't know I don't have any connectors with me maybe I do I don't know so we'll go ahead and get this taped up and um get on out of here well we've got that taped up there and it's all still off right we're assuming that we don't have any other spots in the wire harness which if they're I don't believe there would not be but um you could kind of see where that has been rubbing on that I'm gonna bring a a zip tie over in the morning and uh tie that up a little securely more securely actually you know what I could do take this little wrench here put a little bend down on her and uh that way it won't be so sharp yeah maybe whack that with a hammer a little bit all right so we are just about out of battery on this camera I've got a wire plug that I'm gonna go ahead and put back on the end of our wire up in the engine compartment and we might have to finish this video out with the uh telephone all right so the separator light that was on you've probably seen it in the last video was this one here and any light that comes on here here's what it makes this sound like here uh pull the stick out of the gate there so that's what you hear the whole time because the park brake is on so I was hearing that all day as well not all day I popped this screw out unplugged the uh warning unit there and uh I combined without any warning devices uh working so let's go ahead and get on out of here so that wire harness runs underneath that hydraulic oil reservoir you can see the wire is exposed there across the side of the combine it's right here runs all the way up through there over down and across boom boom all right let's hook up this plug and get out of here thank you okay we have that all hooked up we even got the sensor plugged back in that's ready to go for tomorrow we went ahead and looked at this exhaust pipe earlier that's doing good if you're recall in the last video or one of the videos a little bit ago we ended up putting a new exhaust pipe on there so we'll meet up with you guys tomorrow right Sarah well we're into the next day here it is just shy of noon and we are in the Western Star we've got the Western Star hook two this all like trailer the C5 and the 900 they both had flotation tires on them and this one didn't the 900 were probably more than likely going to keep the tires on it Jared's gonna all manure with the uh Mac and they put the narrow tires on the um c500 here yesterday so we'll get this truck set up with the trailer and we'll see if the moisture is right for cotton wheat it shouldn't be too bad it's uh it's just shy of noon like I was saying might be a little damp on the start but as long as we can get the straw to go through to combine we'll make a go of it here that was a bit of a heavy do here this morning and uh we had to wait for that to burn off so we'll get this parked and uh walk over and get the combine that is over by the old cow barn I'm gonna get this set up so that it'll come out of here nicely for Timothy don't want to park it on top of a windrow a straw because you could about figure what could happen there we got it on a little bit of an uphill slope here but he can back up and uh get a head start so get our Windows cranked up I haven't driven this truck since I took the Peterbilt then well that back in what was that April [Music] so we'll walk on over here got a pretty good Breeze anyways [Music] this straw could get raked there we're gonna be coming over here in a while with the rakes and uh one kernel that I plucked off that bit kind of hard so it's probably 16 percent moisture so we'll go on over and grab the combine this is the first field we cut here two days ago and they are on their way over with the uh rakes they're gonna kick the straw up get it turned over it's wet on the bottom needs some air we're gonna get this hoist put down and Alex will be over here in a while she's gonna take this load here and she took one earlier this morning that we combined here the other day so we've got just two strips on that side of the road then we've got to move three or four miles the other way there so we'll just put this guy down make sure we got good tires here and well [Music] the grains [Music] all right well here we are making our first time around we don't have any lights on up in the headliner which is a good thing however we did have a little problem and when I first started up I didn't get any of this on video I started just afternoon time and I went to engage the head after I engage as a separator that didn't work so wow maybe I've got a bad switch I've had some hiccups with that switch before so I called Jake I said hey I think I've got a header switch that's no good all right he says I'm gonna see if I've got one he had one he lives between Kaz and us I went to his house picked it up put the new switch in as you can see it's brand new take care of the need a man to come out and look at this so we looked around and if you recall if you step back always I'm gonna I don't know at this point ah if I unplug this or not but there's a sensor on a clutch that comes off the side of the grain bin there right above the tailings elevator that was not plugged in and because that was not plugged in that would not allow the feeder house to start so I lost a couple hours screwing her out with that and uh yeah so don't tell anybody about that we're gonna keep that secret to ourselves here and we're just gonna keep motoring on so Andrew he's over raking well we ended up combining hair two days ago so we didn't combine anything yesterday it's got the 40 20 on the rate and he is absolutely tickled pink to be able to run that 40 20. we don't and haven't let him run the open tractors here up until now that's the first that he has run an open tractor whether it be in 40 20. 4320 or 46 20 and the reason being is they are not as safe as ah the bigger tractors for one you gotta have some Heights to you be able to get the clutch pedal pushed in and he has been just kicking at me to be able to run these open tractors I don't like him running down the road with him um we all know he's younger we don't need to tell you how old he is but um is younger a small kid on an open tractor Anything Could Happen wheel could fall off going down the road um come into a woodchuck Hall get thrown off the tractor it's just a lot of people have been thrown from open station uh tractors uh these open tractors that we have we had when I was his age and now these tractors are you know they're 50 plus years old that 40 20 that he's running right now that tractor is 53 years old it's a 1970. um everything on it works correctly but you just don't know with this older stuff when things can ah fail so we have to make one more Headland pass so we're gonna go ahead and zip around here zip one more pass on this headland I probably only need three but yeah so we have Sarah running grain buggy today Charlotte's got other stuff that she is working on and we have already pulled a half a bin load off the combine here and that went on to a truckload of wheat that Alex is uh working on taking in right now this Ben low did I have on man right now it's going to go on the ollic trailer which is up to talked about earlier took to the Western Star so ah that truck has been doing good so far we oh metering I forget what that's called now fuel metering valve in it here uh back in now when was that was that April or was it March I forget but um that had a little bit of a high idle wow not a high idle it was a intermediate like idle uh problem and uh we've got that taken care of our oil delivery guy he pulled in yesterday to dump off some engine oil and hydraulic oil we get that we use the bulk delivery service for that he had a Freightliner sd114 and his truck had a idol that was just up and down all over the place I said hey uh yeah probably should take care of that he's I I'm not worried he's been doing that for a couple years now he said I said okay all right but yeah so Andrew will be over here in a little while we're just making our second pass down through here and he's got four windrows there to do and four on the other side we just need to tip him over to get the air at them so that Jared can uh bail this straw tomorrow so we've got to finish this strip and then we've got a little triangular strip up next to the woods I know I know you're you're wondering hey Andy what what is the current moisture we're running right in at 14. 14 moisture the bush the yield is running in the 90s 80s 90s we're hitting some triple digits but that is all discounted folks don't go off of what I'm telling you that the display is telling us as far as a yield I don't want you to think that we have any better wheat than anybody else here I can go in here and I can change my Cal Factor number here uh yield because it yields calibration yield calibration Cal Factor number I'm I'm accurate I'm running four five six I can change that to a lower number and it's going to read a lot more yield but I don't want to do that because then it's going to screw up my uh Records I don't care if I'm showing 200 bushel all day long or if I'm showing 20. I want to know what field is uh doing as far as yield compared to the other fields I have if I want to feel better and tell myself that I am making 300 Bush a week I could change that cow Factor number but all I'm doing is I'm lying to myself so I keep that number at one one number and then I'll know okay I have a specific variety here on this field it's the same variety as the field that's next to me it yielded this much or I can look at my yield map once we get done and have time in the winter time to look at all this stuff and we could say hey this this did better than that field and you know when we had corn on this field it did better than that field uh when we had hay on this field it did better than that field what's going on just the way the field is are we able to put more manure on this field than we are the field next to us so on and so forth from one field to another on the particular Farms that we're on or one Farm to another which that's hard to put a number on because you got different soil types and whatever but the other thing that we want to do is we want to look at uh yield numbers based upon oh I'm putting my hand put my hand in the video I had somebody request a while ago that I not put my hand in the video anymore so we're going to pull the hand out of the video uh we want to know what uh we are getting for yield as far as each particular variety that we grow oh what the heck is that thing is that I don't even know what the heck that was my God I don't know if you guys seen that but I don't know what that was I don't know if it was a possum couldn't have been a possible possum is weight that was a strange looking thing it kind of looked like a woodchuck but I had the characteristics of a possum I don't know what was that Sarah do you know you didn't see it so uh we're just gonna yeah leave that alone here so yeah we'll uh join up with you once we move from this Farm to the next farm that we're going to be moving to I guess so stay tuned [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign thank you foreign [Music] Don we're going to put the header on the header cart and we're gonna move like four miles to the West Andrew is done raking [Music] and he is gonna help us get equipment moved over to that other Farm a little tight getting through here between the corn and the guide wires coming off of this one power pole here but we're gonna make it work it's only a little itty bitty 20 foot head you know we're not having to deal with the big stuff like all the big guys have got a couple of dumps on the old Western Star the other automatic is loaded and gone my father took that and like I said Andrew has done raking all he had to do was four windrows in this field here around the outside so we'll go ahead and plunk this down on the header cart Sarah I'll bring this over Andrew will bring the grain buggy we'll combine around some and then Sarah will give us a ride over and we'll uh grab the Western Star I don't know as if I pulled up on here correctly or not we're gonna try it oh that go we're rolling some put that down back up a little bit put that down that secure itself I think we're on aren't we no we're not on so we gotta pick this back up again I can't quite see it too good I've gotta move that's Gotta Move uh just gotta move it forward a little bit so go ahead and pick this back up no and what did it do oh look at look at that look at that is that going to be in the next Bud Light commercial oh that is pretty oh I don't know what I got here I gotta move it forward so so bear with me for a second it's Amateur hour you know we're not like all the [Music] the big guys here that we're not like a big grain farmer or anything you know not back too far wow [Music] [Music] I think that what yes now that'll work no it won't all right I gotta put you guys down I can't seem to get it on there correctly there that's better all right we're gonna help these guys strap this down and then they're gonna roll on out of here [Music] is that gonna work it only took like three tries right what'd you think of the 40 20 today Bob haven't installed it yet huh all right I'll strap this down I've got to go this way because I can't get underneath that bridge you can he'll be able to get under the bridge so all right we're just gonna strap this down quick and we're gonna head West [Music] wow that was embarrassing to show that on Old YouTube and I took me I don't know five six eight tries but that is just the way it goes when you're trying to do something one-handed so we are going to get set up on that next farm and we'll join up with you when we get there [Music] well we're going the back way there's some of that poor corn and here is the first field that we did on the left side of the road so we're having to go the back way because there is a lull railroad bridge that goes across Genesee Street here in the town of Camillus they have it posted at 11 foot six we can just barely sneak underneath it with the Moss trailers and we can get the discs underneath it if we put the discs down but I have not been brave enough to try to get the combine down in underneath it uh we are definitely taller than 11 foot six and so is the height of the Moss trailers however they have that height figured for when you come out from underneath the bridge the trailer is starting to go uphill and they figured out a 53-foot trailer where the 11 foot six Mark is going to hit or where the maximum height is going to come from and you understand geometry at all that's where they can't come up with the measurement that they come up with so this is probably actually a shorter route here anyways [Music] um it's a little quicker with a faster vehicle to go the other way uh Sarah's sure yeah Sarah's gonna go the other way and it'll put her coming down the road to where we can be back then the field Come On To The Head come into the field start combine and then they pull in park the header cart so we'll be there in a few minutes and we'll join up with you when we get there so this is day number two the first uh second rather it's the second full day see I got my hand and and the video again um Second full day of wheat Harvest for 2023. so we should be three hours ahead of we should be three hours farther ahead of schedule here but you know somebody screwed up so all right got you when you get we get there [Music] kind of a pretty little area here we have come down Lions Road I don't know if it turns into mayor Tesco Road or something like that and this brings us right down to 174. somewhere here the trolley tracks go through and I don't know if I crossed it already or not I must have unless they come through right here the Old Trolley tracks from 70 some years ago so we have brought you down through here before with manure hauling videos and silage trailer videos and what have you but um we're gonna be going underneath the railroad bridge that kind of goes through the village of Camillus here and I think the trolley yeah I could be wrong I shouldn't speak out of turn here you could see the trolley track bed behind us but anyway we're gonna be going underneath the um railroad bridge or we're going to be going underneath the railroads that same bridge but we have talked about this before and um it is deteriorating coming back coming in the other direction here it kind of it's kind of an eerie feeling going underneath oh I'm all over the road it's kind of an Airy feeling going underneath this bridge because you kind of worry about pieces of concrete and rock and everything else coming down on you but I guess that is up to the uh railroad to fix that and they're not gonna do it I guess I don't know but we're going to take a left on for uh local people here forward Road and then we're just up the road about them Daddy half a mile [Music] get there before Sarah does so this is kind of an corner here when you're coming the other way we've got traffic right there oh there's Andrew so he's coming at us that way he should have went on route five he had a problem on this road about a year ago we didn't talk about it much and I probably shouldn't be talking about it now but we had some problems with that roller he was coming up through here with a raw Harrow and he got hit by a dump truck he stuffed the raw Harrow off the side of the road as far as he could get it oh I should have slowed down for that and uh the truck's still hit him the guy was way over the yellow line he had a load of pavement on and uh totaled his truck ripped off the front wheel ah gouged up the whole side of his trunk ripped the tarp arm off of it did a whole bunch of damage and the uh Troopers that came to the scene they were like well we can clearly see that you know we were wide but um the guy was way over the yellow line you could see uh brake marks and everything else we'll be right up to that point in the road here in a second oh I probably shouldn't be talking about this much because I am just about out of battery on the old camera but well Crow's up through here as you can see this is kind of tight through here we probably shouldn't be coming this way but we'll just have to keep an eye on everything we'll be over as far as we can Andrew he was over as far as he could be uh yeah maybe I'll share that video on my Instagram page I'm not going to share it here but there's a real sharp turn up here the wheat field that we have is just aboard the top of this bank here and Andrew's coming up around this corner right here and he was over over pretty good digging the bank pretty good uh clip here where was it it was right about yeah right there truck come down through and it ran right into that roll Arrow guy did a ton of damage to his truck but there's our wheat field right there we've got about 50 acres 45 50 acres right here and this is a nice big field there's two Fields there's this large one here and then we've got uh a smaller one up on top there so we've got a motorcycle coming so this is what I'm gonna do I'm gonna flash my lights I'm gonna flash them he's slowing down he is slowing down I don't see Andrew in behind me slow her down buddy slower down slower down slower down slower down guys looking at me give me the thumbs up he knows what I'm meaning he knows what I meant he is way over on the shoulder of the road [Music] you guys can see that or not Andrew's coming up through there slowly the guy is just about stopped right now yeah yeah I don't see Andrea yet I can all well I can almost see the the yeah all right so we've got a driveway up here 's what we're gonna do we're gonna put you guys here like that Sarah's right there we're going to back into this driveway she is going to come up on us here we got a car behind us and she's got a car in behind her so we're gonna come in like this we got a shift down in the second gear we're gonna come around like that we're gonna back in now we're gonna let her pull up into place here and what we have to do is we have to release the straps on the head thank you [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] all right she has moved a little forward on this hair we'll just line up what we don't want to do is drop this off in the road Bang Bang so we'll back out of the road and then what we're gonna do is we're gonna combine down through here and she's gonna pull in right in behind us so we'll go ahead and get the head coupled up and she can get that her car into the field here and I don't know where Andrew is all right we have everything all dialed in and as you can see Andrew is not he didn't come up the hill so uh I just got done talking to him and he weighted down at the bottom of the Hill and he has done what we talked about doing every time and we come up this way so I've got to have Sarah get a hold of him and she's gonna block traffic up top here not to he's any wider than we are and um he's gonna bring come up the hill he's waiting out at the bottom so I'm gonna call Sarah right now and uh yeah hey Siri call Sarah hey uh Andrew is waiting at the bottom of the hill okay so just park at the top guide the traffic slow the traffic down do whatever I thought he turned uh he was turning the corner about when I did I thought he was coming up behind me but he said he was going to wait at the bottom I talked to Alex a minute ago she's not that far away you could wait for her take her back and take your grandmother's truck home and tarp the ollic trailer yeah unhook the grain head cart and leave it right in the field past the driveway this side of the driveway all right yeah well we'll see it yeah all right so I couldn't get a hold of Sarah she was on the phone with Andrew they've got a plan all worked out Alex is gonna be here a little while with a truck and they're gonna jockey each other around here so there's a 10-wheeler sitting in behind us and then a 10-wheeler that Alex is dropping off and uh yeah so well just keep at it here we're getting for yield not too bad not gonna tell you what it is because if it was a big number you'd think I was lying if it's a small number right I'd be you'd be laughing but well there's Andrew right there she must have seen that the traffic was light said bring it buddy bring it yeehaw yeah so we are in in good numbers here good numbers for first time around even alrighty well keep you posted
