thank you to the patrons for supporting the channel [Music] welcome back everyone uh today you're catching me in the middle of my night shift here at freddy fazbear's pizza i'm a night shift guard youtube ad rev hasn't been that great so i picked up a couple extra shifts but it's only night one you know the first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so i'll play through [Music] anyway we're back doing another fnaf retrospective and not on one of the books one of the mainline games two of them actually i didn't actually think i was going to be back again but here we are we've looked at the claustrophobic halls of fnf1 the uncanny horrors of fnaf 2 the dark and grimy corridors of fnaf 3 the nightmares of fnaf 4. the tunnels deep underground in sister location the eerie secrets hidden in pizzeria simulator and finally william afton's personal hell in ultimate custom night but now we've got somewhere new the massive maze of arcades golf courses bowling alleys restaurants and laser tag arenas of the pizzaplex [Music] i genuinely didn't think i was going to make another one of these retrospectives for a couple reasons number one when i started the series help wanted hadn't even been out that long and security breach wasn't even released yet and number two and probably the bigger reason is i'm just not as big a fan as i used to be sure i'm probably more invested than even the average fnaf fan but the direction the series has taken has been not as gripping to me as it used to be all this is to say when figuring out how to make this video it was a little bit complicated but i settled on a couple things my clickteam era fnaf video is already its own thing so this while it can be a supplemental sort of sequel it's not necessarily a direct continuation which is why i'm doing things a bit different i'm covering two games in one help wanted and security breach i also feel like i just sort of owe it to the series that's done so much for my channel and just my life i'm not promising that i'll make more finance retrospectives i'm not saying that i won't for now just buckle up and let's get started [Music] let's start with five nights at freddy's vr help wanted and the lead up to its release there we go much more fitting environment now the idea of a fanaf vr game was not entirely revolutionary one of the first things people said about the game when the first game came out was that it was suited perfectly for a vr experience in most of the games you're just sitting in one place looking around and pressing some buttons that's what vr does best there had even been some fan created vr remakes of the first couple games and having played them that initial assumption was correct the games really fit the vr format now before we actually get into the meat of the teasers and release details i want to talk about the state of fnaf at the time ultimate custom night was released in 2018 and it really felt like the end of the afton story william had burned to the ground at the end of pizzeria simulator and was now stuck in hell the fourth closet had released meaning the book trilogy was wrapped up and the fnaf movie was well honestly that was still in production purgatory but aside from that things were really wrapping up on that era of fnaf and it was around this time that scott cawthon began being seen as more than just an indie game developer he was also a manager figure no longer was he a single man making every aspect of a small indie series he now had his hands in many different areas of a brand books movies merch console ports and then trusting another development team with the game's ip he created an upcoming projects mega thread which was a surprisingly transparent log of what new projects were in the works and updates on how they were going this sort of transparent development mirrors how he handled the lead up to ultimate custom night as well among these upcoming projects was a triple a fnaf game a ar mobile game and a vr game now that wasn't the first time huh like i was saying that wasn't the first time this idea of a fanafvr project was floated around back in 2017 scott cawthon had made a few references to the idea but this project mega thread showed that he was actively working on it now i've explained the timeline as one thing after the next so far but all of this was sort of happening at the same time in fact this project mega thread is where he announced pizzeria simulator if memory serves so this 2017 to early 2019 timeline is pretty all over the place now this mystery company that was working on a final vr game is a name you probably know by now steel wool studios at the time they were almost an exclusively vr development studio making them a good fit for the project and scott announced that the game was already under development and that he had already played an impressive tech demo from here to the release of the game in december of 2019 things are a little complicated there was radio silence on the vr side for a bit after the release of pizzeria simulator and then we got some info by way of an esrb leak the title was five nights at freddy's vr help wanted and we'd be playing as a technician repairing and monitoring the animatronics then the first teaser was released on scottgames.com an amalgamation of many of the characters throughout the series there were some issues though pretty quickly people started realizing a couple of the faces looked familiar in a different way they were models from fan games instead of the official models after a brief bout of outrage the teaser was updated and steel woolen scott issued an apology there's more to say about this teaser though as usual with these games hidden in the image itself along with the source code of the website there were messages like remember jeremy and he let something inside as well there were other images hidden in the website compressed screenshots of gameplay that honestly looked sick there was also an image of what appeared to be a real-life animatronic endoskeleton head that people began speculating was related to the movie but nothing ever came of it if i recall then in line with scott's strange level of transparency during this development cycle he revealed a ton about how the game would work in a reddit post i almost get the feeling he did this to bring the hype back up again after the negative impressions that the teaser controversy left as well as instill more confidence in steel wool studio's abilities because it seemed like they were the ones at fault for the fan model situation he revealed we'd be able to play through repairing bonnie chica and foxy the sister location funtime foxy flash beacon area hiding from baby in a closet the fan four fredbear game mode we'd encounter spring trap and that the monstrous plush babies were the best original addition to any game ever to be fair much of this information we'd inferred from the hidden images in the website but scott's whole-hearted excitement about this game really started building hype the first trailer we got for fnaf vr was at a playstation live event and from here on this would be pretty much where we were getting all of our five nights at freddy's trailers it's also where we'd end up getting some of the finest taco reactions but we're getting ahead of ourselves this trailer and breakdown showed off a collection of jump scares and then snippets of gameplay one thing that people noted pretty early on was this design of freddy this is basically the nightmare fredbear model but re-textured to look like freddy a lot of people were unhappy about this inconsistency and it never actually showed up in the game but honestly i like this version of nightmare freddy way more i always thought nightmare freddy's original design was lacking somehow and fredbear's model is just so much cooler i was hoping it would stay that way in the game oh well i get the feeling that they included this version in the trailer not by accident but because freddy is a much more recognizable character than fredbear after this trailer the full box art for the game was released as a teaser and steel will begin talking more directly with the community building their own scot-esque relationship with the fans that we still see today even more information and gameplay was slowly leaked out as demos of the game started popping up at conventions like pax this sort of thing really was unheard of for fnaf typically we'd get a few teasers popping up a trailer and then the game just drops normally quite a bit earlier than the release date or sometimes without a release date at all just completely unexpected at the most a couple youtubers would get the demo a day or two beforehand but now with this partnership with steel wool the fnaps brands unprecedented growth and the cooperation with playstation's vr branch we were seeing this different path forward although in all honestly this is probably closer to the norm in the wider gaming landscape eventually scott announced that the game would have to be pushed back it was originally slated for april but had to be pushed back to may 21st to give steel wool extra time to polish some things up in this crucial time leading up to the game's release the community uncovered something interesting on voices.com scott coffin had put out a casting call for the voice of freddy fazbear up to this point freddy fazbear was one of the only characters that didn't have an official voice even after ultimate custom night for now let's refocus on the release after another small delay the game was finally dropped on may 28 2019 and a port for the oculus quest was dropped in july of 2020. well that can't be a good sign uh let's start talking about the gameplay the gist is from this main menu area you can play a variety of different game modes and mini games each with increasing difficulties some are based on the original five nights at freddy's game some are entirely new you can find and collect tokens in these game modes that let you buy little items at the prize corner and as you beat the different game modes you unlock other prizes like figurines and snacks there's also this lever which can switch all of the games to hard mode or blacklight mode which not only increases the difficulty but changes the whole look of the game making things considerably more unsettling to really start breaking it down let's talk about each game mode individually five nights at freddy's 1 works pretty much the way you'd expect it's a pretty faithful recreation of the first game with a few little additions for instance you can actually see the animatronics moving and if you keep the light on while one is walking down the hall it will stop to look at you also if you try to peek out of the office foxy will run down the hall and jump scare you and because it's being rendered in real time you can actually see if the animatronics are outside your door without using the lights at all otherwise it's pretty much the same however knight 5 is a black light level meaning the game looks considerably spookier and there are random glitches which can cause the doors lights and cameras to go haywire for a while five nights at freddy's 2 is pretty interesting while generally it works the same the withered animatronics were missing on release and even now the base mode only contains the toys and regular foxy acting as withered foxy's role you also can't run out of flashlight power and using the mask requires you to actually grab it from next to you in a later update a withered mode was added as a black light level adding the withers to the game and even including a sliding difficulty level knight 5 is also a black light level like infant f1 but there's no real gameplay changes just aesthetic ones five nights at freddy's 3 again works much the same as the actual game including the fact that nothing even happens on night one like with the previous games knight 5 is a black light level and shows fazbear's fright on fire other than that the game functions pretty closely to the original the dark rooms aren't really specific games but modes from portions of other games you can play the fun with plushtrap game mode from fnaf4 as well as the nightmare bb mode from the halloween dlc of that game the first wholly new part of this game is introduced in the plush baby dark room which has you sitting in the prize corner fending off baby plushies using a flashlight with limited power before it must recharge then there's the funtime foxy section from sister location using the flash beacon the blacklight versions of all of these are pretty similar with some aesthetic changes in the difficulty ramped up however funtime foxy's level is now filled with other animatronics that can kill you parts and service is where we get entirely new gameplay start to finish each night has you repairing or cleaning one of the four main animatronics from five nights at freddy's one bonnie chica freddy or foxy these resemble funtime freddy's parts and service section and sister location but each one is unique bonnie has you access his face plate and retuning his guitar chica has you cleaning her of a roach infestation and placing her arm back on freddy has you removing various items children have left inside of freddy's mouth and chest cavity and then replacing his music box and foxy has you replacing fuses and motors as he flails and then replacing his eye failing to follow the instructions given by hand unit or accidentally dropping certain items will result in death there are also black light levels of each of these showcasing strange versions of the characters neon bonnie and chica burnt foxy and dark freddy with more difficult versions of their respective levels vent repair only has two modes and in my opinion are the best original edition that this game has these game modes have you repairing things in two different claustrophobic vent systems the first is mangle's vent system which has you completing multiple tasks from pulling levers and adjusting pipes to playing simon says type minigames all the while you are surrounded by vents which begin opening as you continue mangle can slowly crawl toward you from any of these vents while you work and the only way to fend them off is to shine your headlamp at her the other mode is enerd system which has you move down a maintenance elevator in circus baby's rental service you must press the correct order of buttons in a breaker room and then replace gears in a mechanical area all the while entered slowly draws nearer these are perfectly creepy and the claustrophobia movement animations it perfectly captures what parts of horror can really be done well in vr and is one of the only ones that still creeps me out while playing in the black light levels the usual aesthetic changes are made in mangles all the events start open and ennard's level is all sorts of [ __ ] up you're upside down spring trap is crawling at you it ends with you falling to your death wild and night terrors the last of the game's main game modes these are heavily based on five nights at freddy's 4 all taking place in the bedroom but with varying mechanics and characters bon bon bonnet and funtime freddy haunt your hauls in one hiding in the closet from circus baby and another fending off nightmare on another and essentially playing through the fredbear night infant f4 however the black light level is where things get really interesting there's just one black light night terror called pizza party it's a maze of fnaf locations combined together with strange riding all over the walls you're on a time limit to find the correct path or else you'll be jump scared at the end of the maze you enter a back room and are confronted by a new character known as glitch trap who i will explain in the lore section successfully navigating this maze leads you to the end of the game and also by beating this level you unlock the gallery where you can view the game's models on a stage so there you have it a rundown of the game modes in five nights at freddy's vr i'd say for the most part the games are fun and they're all well adapted to vr and while i've definitely built up a tolerance to fnaf at this point having played it so much if you're looking to get spooked again especially by those first three games well this might just do it i found that the night terror modes where you actually have to move around felt a little bit awkward and out of place at times but the strengths of things like vent repair more than made up for it okay let's get this show on the road visually this game is pretty impressive with only a few issues here and there most of which are coming from the oculus quest port but what are you expecting from a quest port in general the graphical quality is pretty high the models are very detailed the textures look nice and there's really a great use of lighting in most of the areas that fits with the dingy sort of vibe personally i'm not a huge fan of the whole neon black light look the game uses in certain sections but it's only the special hard mode section so it's not a big deal the animatronics are extremely faithful to their original designs in each game although i think that's because steel will had access to scott's original models sometimes the texturing looks a little off like things are paler than they're supposed to be and at times look a little too plasticky but the level of detail they're able to maintain in these models in a vr game is genuinely impressive i also think the animations are worth pointing out for sure in the original fnaf games there was little to no animation aside from the jump scares foxy running down the hall toy bonnie sliding across the screen springtrap moving quickly across the window the lack of animation didn't take away from those original games and in some ways it made it more eerie that you never actually saw them move and some of that fear of the unknown is lost with seeing the characters move so i wouldn't say the animations make it scarier but there is something so cool about it one thing that most fan animations usually get wrong with animating the characters is not making them robotic enough this game doesn't have that problem seeing toy freddy enter your office is panic inducing seeing mangle crawl like a spider towards you as freaky as hell and the animatronic slowly turning around to look at you when you leave the light on in fnaf 1 is some horror movie [ __ ] and seeing springtrap stumble painfully around fazbear's fright definitely reinforces exactly what he is a corpse barely clinging to life trapped in a suit of rotting fur and rusted metal poles poking through his flesh when it comes to the environments they've also been adapted pretty well i'd say the strongest ones are the first three games in the vent repair sections considering how differently you actually have to play the games from the originals they did a pretty good job adapting certain mechanics the camera is working almost like a switchboard and the screens physically being in front of you while playing it's really easy to immerse yourself in the environment especially with all the little things you can interact with cups paper drawers phones little figures plus seeing these places in full vr does take it to another level especially being able to see parts of the game that you couldn't in the click team versions for instance you can actually turn to see the vent to your right in fn f3 sometimes i think this takes away from certain aspects like seeing these giant open vents is a little goofy you just sort of realize how wild it would be for these to be here in real life when you're in vr at the same time seeing that hallway in fnaf 2 and really feeling like it's in front of you adds this layer of immersion that is really cool it's also cool in places like parts and service and vent repair getting to see whole new areas of locations we know like circus baby's rental service and the entered vent repair or the main pizzeria stage area in the main menu area overall the visual aspect is one of the game's strong points everything is really highly detailed and looks really great and having that real sense of scale while playing the games adds another level to them with that said let's move on to audio [Music] now typically these are the shortest sections of these videos and this is probably no exception but there are a few things about the audio i wanted to point out overall the sound design falls pretty close to the original games with droning ambience spooky metallic whispers and it uses quite a bit of sounds from the original games while there isn't a lot of new music really i do want to mention the weird music box audio used in the blacklight section [Music] now this is likely a personal preference thing i'm sure some people find it genuinely creepy sounding but for me it just sounds a little grading and annoying it's also another reason i'm not a huge fan of the blacklight area in general overall the sound design is pretty much what it needs to be it sets the atmosphere and mood fits each section and serves its purpose i wouldn't say there's anything particularly special about it but there's nothing that jumps out to me as specifically terrible there are voices in this game andy field does a great job reprising his role as the voice of corporate fazbear entertainment introducing the game and guiding you through many of the areas welcome to the freddy fazbear virtual experience there's another character who i'll explain more in the lore section up next who the community calls tape girl her voice acting is a bit of a mix for me i find it to be a little corny maybe over dramatic but at the same time when has any of the voice acting in this series not been it feels similar to henry's voice in pizzeria simulator full of character and drama but not necessarily the most realistic dialogue still i think brianna kennedy does a great job at bringing that character to life there is one more thing i want to talk about here though remember when i brought up this character of glitch trap like i said i'll get into more exactly what his character is later but mainly he shows up sometimes off to the side in the main menu area semi-transparent a digital glitch and when he's there there's this voice that plays seemingly emanating from him [Music] when i first heard that it immediately snapped me back to what made fenav so scary and i'm sure this is subjective i'm sure some people think that the voice is goofy but to me it just brought back memories of fnaft whose death minigame voices or as i've mentioned a couple times in the videos now the recurring nightmares i had as a child where this ominous figure with a pitch down voice was standing over my bed and it's so unsettling because it doesn't sound threatening i mean creepy sure but it's almost curious which makes it more terrifying in my opinion whatever the thing is it's trying to reach out and not in a cartoonishly evil way in this luring subtle way that really creeps me out it's really great but that's about all i have to say about the sound for now let's get down to brass tacks and talk about the story of this game [Music] much like many of these fanaf games the lore elements of this game are not actually revealed in the main gameplay aspect it's through hidden codes and secrets but first let's just talk about what the main premise of the game is in a way this game is almost like a piece of unfiction the game acknowledges that it's a game multiple times in fact that's the whole point in the universe of help wanted you are a beta tester playing through the freddy fazbear virtual experience developed by the fictional game company silver parasol games which almost even had its own website fazbear entertainment commissioned this game to be made including the mini games inside it now it seems weird that a company would create a game making their characters look horrifying and killing the player so what's the deal with that here's how they explain it some rogue indie game developer created a series of games based on the rumors around the fazbear corporation tainting its reputation so fazbear entertainment created this game as a way to be self-aware and poke fun at themselves in order to try and save face real brand twitter moment this concept may be jogging some ideas in your head any developer making a series of horror games based on freddy fazbear's pizza well your initial thoughts are reinforced as the image they use to refer to this indie developer is actually of scott cawthon i know what you're thinking does this mean the games we've played were never real scott cawthon is like a canon character what's what's even real at this point the answer to those questions are not entirely clear but we'll talk about them more in the community in theory section for now this is the main setup of the game now there's an extra layer to this story happening underneath the surface hidden all around the different levels there are these glitchy purple tapes when you collect them you can listen to them in a hidden room that can be accessed through the blacklight main menu these tapes while out of order tell a story a woman known as tape girl explains that she's a developer of the game at silver parasol games her co-worker a beta tester named jeremy is reporting some sort of glitch that has carried overs from some old hardware fazbear entertainment provided them with some sort of malicious code jeremy's mental health begins to take a turn for the worse both hating his time beta testing but also seeming to be obsessed with it and it seems like he's talking to someone in the game something happens to jeremy and tape girl has to take over beta testing silver parasol is selling off the game to a different developer and tape girl has to do the last bit of testing before it gets sent off there she finds what it was that jeremy was talking to glitch trap exactly what it is is unclear but generally it's accepted that glitch trap is some digital vestige of william afton that it was uploaded to the game when they were using the old hardware glitch trap is attempting to escape and move into the real world tape girl tries her best to delete him but it doesn't seem to work instead she breaks him into pieces the tapes and scatters them in hopes of keeping him from being reassembled as you collect the tapes he slowly reforms as a glitch in your main menu area she does give you one last hope to destroy it there is a way to kill it it wants to escape to escape through someone let it begin to merge with you play the music and flip the switch that will cause a hard restart of the game and flush the memory effectively killing it i hope so that sets you up for one of the three endings the game includes so let's look at the endings ending one is what happens if you complete the maze in the pizza party night terror the maze ends with you in a back room similar to the parts and service room in fnaf 1. the animatronics sit lifeless missing pieces empty heads stare at you from the shelves there's a birthday cake and some pizza and then from behind the curtain glitch trap fully formed beckons you behind the curtain when you follow it fades to black and when it fades back you are seeing from the perspective of freddy fazbear on stage performing to an audience of one glitch trap as he dances you have been stuffed you've experienced a recreation of what happened to the missing children now whether this ending was a part of glitch trap's influence or if fazbear entertainment decided to go dark in their little fun vr game is unknown but either way it is a pretty eerie way to end the game roll credits ending 2 is the merge ending if you collect all the tapes glitch trap will appear in your main menu area reaching out and trying to merge into your mind if you fail to switch off the game like how tape girl instructed the game slowly fades into glitch trap's view glitch trap has taken over your mind and is now out in the real world using your body ending three is the ending where you actually switch off the game before glitch trap can merge with you fully you're transported to a strange room with a locked door with handprints streaked on it from a small window glitch trap appears and slowly backs away presumably you've successfully locked glitch trap away or maybe you're the one who's been locked away either way glitch trap is now available as a little glitchy plush alright so that's the main story of the game well until we get to the dlc which we will talk about in a bit as always yet again and etc william afton comes back now of course we'll get into the theories and interpretations of the story in the community section but for now let's just talk about some of the other hidden secrets and easter eggs that lie in the game first off let's talk about freddy's voice remember how i said that scott cawthon put out a casting call for the voice of freddy fazbear well he never actually found a voice that he liked but the vestiges of what it was going to be used for are still in the game in your main menu area there's a button that says showtime which doesn't do anything originally however it was meant to pull back the curtain and you'd be able to see a full performance of freddy and the gang voiced and all but scott didn't want to include it because he couldn't find the right voice for freddy there was a purely instrumental version of the performance but they decided to cut that as well these performances can be found in the game files but it can't be accessed through the main game when it comes to easter eggs this game is surprisingly chock-full the main type that's in this game is the rare character these are just static models that will rarely appear in different areas helpy the mini arenas the coffee machine from scott's previous game the desolate hope things like that in the fnaf2 level the endoskeleton can rarely appear in your office which i think is great that endoskeleton was actually an easter egg infanaf2 originally and since a lot of the more secret or lore related stuff in these games were stripped away for the vr version it's cool to see these little callbacks similarly in fnf3 you can punch in the code 395248 in the wall and it plays the little stage 01 mini game music from fnaf 3 along with giving you a coin alright there's one more important little secret in this game and it's not available in the vr version or the desktop pc port for that matter it can only be played in the mobile port for help wanted rarely you can have the ability to unlock princess quest in the prize corner area it's a fully developed 2d dungeon crawler where you play as a golden princess navigating different rooms filled with enemies and a strange glitch trap purple guy figure there are tons of references to other aspects of the lore in this game from six gravestones that also appear in pizzeria simulator to 16 torches referencing the 16 tapes while the exact lore implications aren't completely understood it's cool to see that the game does in fact have one of the classic 8-bit mini-games that fanaf is known for now it's entirely possible that i missed some stuff in here but this is the really important stuff for now let's move on to the community reactions and theories [Music] as far as memory serves people really liked this game when it came out it adapted everything really well and with this whole other secret story going on behind the scenes it over delivered originally it was just supposed to be vr ports of the games similar to how they were porting games to consoles but then it added new minigames and now with this glitch trap story it had a whole other added layer of lore to it it wasn't unanimous praise however a lot of people were getting tired of seeing william afton coming back over and over again and were hoping for a new villain this game cemented for a lot of people that the series wasn't ever going to be able to let go of william afton the other part that people had mixed feelings on was the soft reboot element it's a little confusing to actually interpret the main concept of this game that this indie game developer was canon to the story one way to look at it is just a fun reference that explains why fazbear entertainment created freddy fazbear's virtual experience and what happens in the other fnaf games actually are still real and canon the other way to look at this is a soft reboot of the franchise meaning all the previous games while based loosely on real events can't fully be trusted because they were made up in this new canon it does make sense to a degree it's the start of a new era of fnaf and scott cawthon had talked previously about how cluttered the lore was becoming making it hard to tell a real story depending on who you ask the answer will be different because it's up to interpretation either way this was clearly the start of a new era of fnaf it's also worth mentioning that there are some connections between stuff in this game and the ar game that was released right before help wanted but i refuse to talk about that game and it's more connected to security breach than this game anyway now the story is pretty straightforward to a degree so theorizing about it mostly lands on a couple open-ended parts firstly what the third ending of the game means if you believe what tape girl says it seems like glitch trap is locked away and this whole thing worked however the handprints on the door are from your side making it seem like you are the one who's trapped tape girl also seems pretty adamant that glitch trap can't be killed until the very end tape and some people think this is because glitch trap has overtaken her mind and is trying to trick you into letting him merge with you both of these are convincing answers so it's really hard to tell which is correct okay let's talk about jeremy what happened to him well most people believe he killed himself by cutting off his face with a paper guillotine the mentioning of the paper guillotine is brought up in a very chekhov's gun type of way there's this reference to ink and a halloween mask specifically mentioned along with the fact that it was dark and they couldn't see his face however it's also possible that this halloween mask actually was a mask that jeremy was making some people believe that this was a glitch trap instructing him to make a new suit which does have some merit especially going into the dlc speaking of let's talk about the curse of dreadbear the halloween dlc that began teasing security breach [Music] the curse of the curse of dreadbear dlc was the halloween add-on made for help wanted that was released in october of 2019. it included new modes new secrets and teasers for what the next steps would be into security breach but before we get into security breach let's briefly talk about curse of dread bear the dlc included three new game modes each with their own set of levels afraid of the dark includes the plushkin patch which is basically a halloween version of the plush baby darkroom pirate ride which is an on-rail shooting gallery and corn maze where the player must navigate a maze avoiding grim foxy which is basically the jacko version of foxy similar to the jacko versions of chica and bonnie from fnaf4's halloween dlc spooky mansion has hallway a game where you have to slowly make it down a hallway while the nightmare animatronics come after you on all sides kind of reminds me of the first 123 slaughter me street build a mangle where you have to construct an animatronic under the close watch of mangle from event or trick or treat where the player must keep track of the animatronics inside a house and wear the correct halloween mask to avoid jumpscare and dreadbear a parts and service esque level where you work on dreadbear and finally danger keep out is a three-night version of fnaf 1 with changed mechanics instead of doors you have wood planks and use the lights to fend the animatronics off it includes grim foxy jack obani and chica and red bear as its enemies when it comes to hidden content and easter eggs there is quite a bit in this game but the important ones are related directly to the release of security breach firstly in the corn maze level there's a secret trap door that leads to a mask that probably looks familiar to you by now it's vani's mask but at the time we didn't know who vanie was collecting the mask allows you to have it in the main hub area and wearing it while also holding the glitch trap plush reveals one end of a conversation yes i hear you i know there's no miscommunication yes i have it i made it myself it appears that glitch trap wasn't dead after all and is brainwashing yet another victim having them make a new costume which does lend some more credence to the idea that jeremy didn't cut his own face off and it was actually a mask there was one more little teaser and help wanted though in an update added that december if you complete the pizza party maze you can enter a snowy room that leads you outside revealing a large building under construction in the distance and a billboard stating coming soon at this point we were already seeing some teasers for security breach on scott's website but this was really hammering home the connections all these things had with all that said that's help wanted and we can see how it was slowly pushing us into this new era of fnaf i'll talk about my personal rating for the game on the whole tier list thing at the end along with security breach so don't worry about that for now oh almost got taken over by some sort of digital entity i'm fine now though [Music] like i said the timeline for these games developments and release are not necessarily one after another they're more overlapping the project mega thread that announced both of these games announced them side by side but security breach did have some teasers of its own that were separate from a help wanted starting with this teaser art of a band of some familiar faces and some less familiar performing in some sort of 80s inspired maul text hidden in the source code reveals a conversation between glitch trap and this new follower character revealed in the curse of dread bear along with some close-up versions of each of these characters being released as teasers they eventually added a figure with a knife and bunny ears hovering in the corner presumably this was glitch trap's new follower we'd get some more info soon after from a strange source the first of many leaks that would plague this game's development funko released information revealing the names of the characters the glamrock animatronics and then a poster that revealed the designs of the characters then scott himself accidentally leaked the name of the game security breach through some copyright information we didn't get so much teasers for the game at this point and more so leaks however as things went on we got more official reveals a teaser image for a new character a security guard at the time people thought this character was going to be the player after some more leaks from funko scott and funko both revealed two figures related to the game glam rock freddy and a new character gregory who would apparently be able to hide in glamrock freddy's chest titanfall style and vanessa and vani showing off the full designs of both this glitch trap follower and the security guard and this statue basically confirmed something people were already thinking which is that these two were the same character vanessa plus bunny equals vani you get it then at a playstation live event the first trailer for the game went up that's not for now it's such a difficult day it didn't show too much but we got to hear vania and glamrock freddy's voice and see some environments as well as the reveal of a new animatronic some sort of moon creature but still not a ton of new information there was also a graphics showcase on a geforce live stream which made people very upset because it basically just showed off some of the environments and not gameplay i mean i'm not sure what everyone was expecting from a graphics showcase but i don't know people were mad then the first really substantial trailer we got was at another playstation live event it revealed a surprising amount we got to see huge portions of the game's environments all of the animatronics vanessa vanni william afton's voice hints to what the gameplay would be like it's seeming like vanessa and gregory would be working together to escape it's genuinely strange watching this trailer now knowing what is in the game and what isn't there's huge portions of things that are in this trailer that aren't in the final game and it makes me wonder what the game was supposed to be at this point the trailer did a great job of calling back to scott's trailer style font choice and all while the game had originally been slated for 2020 this trailer pushed the date back to sometime in 2021 and that was that now despite how crazy these reveals were some people were not entirely happy with it the graphics while stunning in some spots also appeared to be lacking or inconsistent in others honestly i feel like people were being a bit too harsh vanessa does look a little odd but i think it looked pretty good overall i feel like a lot of old school fans were just not super into the aesthetic and direction the game was taking and the split of new era and old era fans was becoming more apparent personally at this point i didn't think the game looked all that scary but it looked fun the game was then delayed until later in 2021 as sort of an apology for this scott cawthon released a quick beat-em-up style fnaf game called security breach fury's rage it was a pretty good way to hold off the irritated fans but the delays were making some people a little bit worried about the game then the thing happened fnaf fans don't really like to talk about what happened next but it's sort of unavoidable when talking about the development of this game it split the community even further and it changed how scott coffin and steel will interacted with the community and it changed how people felt going into this game on june 10th 2021 i woke up took a shower got dressed ate some breakfast and then checked my phone on twitter i saw a bunch of people with their hot takes about what was happening with scott coffin and i wasn't sure what that was but i pretty quickly found out someone had tracked down the public records of scott coffin's political donations and it showed that he had donated the maximum amount of money that he could to various republican and conservative candidates from mitch mcconnell tulsi gabbard and donald trump now people can act high and mighty about this and go i i don't know anything about politics why can't we just enjoy the games i don't care about politics you shouldn't either but it's not really a counter-argument to any of the things that people have said on either side of this situation putting my own personal views aside in this increasingly political divide that we see going on where social issues and political issues are just as intertwined as they've ever been is it really a surprise that this was a controversy i've made statements before in these retrospectives that have gotten me heat from people like my thoughts on the different official artists for fnaf and i'm sure i will get some heat for what i will say in this video too some of it from well-meaning people some of it from [ __ ] i'm used to it and expecting it i've already made a pretty long twitter thread discussing my views on this as well so i won't stick around for that part too much and i'll leave that twitter thread in the description so this information about scott coffin's political affiliation and specifically how much he was donating to these candidates really split the community i'm going to try to be as non-judgmental in discussing what happened and then i'll offer my opinion on the fringe side of either equation you had people who were so mad at scott cawthon for this that they were sending him threats and harassment i didn't actually see a ton of this i felt like that aspect was a little bit blown out of proportion but any amount of it is not cool on the other side you had people that agreed with scott cawthon's political donations and took it upon themselves to harass people who are upset but like with most things the real conversation was lost in the nuance on one end you had people who didn't necessarily agree with scott coffin's donations but felt that his charitable donations and his acceptance of the community outweighed them on the other hand you had people who felt uncomfortable continuing to be in a community and supporting a series whose part of that money was going towards candidates who and i'm not going to pull my punches here are terrible people misogynists racists homophobes transphobes and i'm not just saying those as buzzwords these are reinforced about themselves every time they make a public statement or try and put a law into effect i'm not going to compromise on that it was in these opinions where i saw most of the conversation happening there was also a brief period of time where people thought that maybe they were faked or that scott had been scammed by the rnc but that was disproved pretty quick when scott released his official statement while he didn't really apologize he did restate his acceptance for the lgbt community and ended it with this that's not an apology or a promise to change it's the way it's always been if i get cancelled then i get cancelled i don't do this for money anymore i do it because i enjoy it if people think i'm doing more harm than good now then maybe it's better that i get canceled and retire i would accept that i've had a fulfilling career besides most things that people can take from you are things that never had much value to begin with i have always loved and will continue to love this community and this fan base even if someday it doesn't include me anymore this was the last reddit post that scott has made with the exception of a comment he made on daco's announcement post for the trevor project charity live stream he was doing saying that he would be there and he donated fifty thousand dollars to uh to be clear this was before he was planning to be there before uh the whole controversy happened so it doesn't seem like this was a pr move this event while eventually dying down did split the community quite a bit although not along the old school new school lines that i've been talking about in the end how people took this information and continued to go forward came down to is the good outweighing the bad or is the bad out weighing the good for some people the amount that scott had donated to charity and his acceptance of people in his personal life outweighed the bad for them for other people the fact that their money could either be going to short the trevor project or saint jude's children's hospital it could also be going to mitch mcconnell and the bad outweighed the good and i fully respect both of these opinions i don't think either one is more valid than the other from what i know about scott coffin as a guy personally which to be fair is only what he allows to be seen through his online presence he doesn't seem to be someone with bad intentions he genuinely seems to accept people in the lgbt community and wants the best for people and by all accounts is a wonderfully kind person he's also been in my opinion a model for how game developers interact with their community but in the end it doesn't matter if he's an amazing person or not your personal assessment of him as a person doesn't necessarily factor into this the issue is whether or not your continued support and interaction with the series is doing more harm than good in your eyes i think if you want a really good nuanced take on the situation daco's video that came out around this time is genuinely really good for my take as you can tell by my channel i stuck around in the community but i also started to diversify my content and decided to stop being such an exclusively finance-centered channel for other reasons aside from this whole situation but it definitely added to it for me it just further complicated my feelings about fnaf because since sister location i had already started feeling that it was becoming less and less for me especially as i got older i'd say i'm definitely more an old school fan of the games but i felt that my content was always more centered around the nostalgia and community aspects of the game so i felt that my videos weren't an endorsement of scott cawthon or his politics i felt very irritated with scott's response because he had framed it as him being cancelled when i think a lot of people just wanted him to hear out why they felt upset and for him to be open to change but because of many things like the i stand with scot crowd it seemed like he was able to deflect the criticism under the guise of him just being cancelled and he just retired which i suppose is not the worst thing it's better than him sticking around and being a jk rowling situation but from this point scott cawthon would make little to no public appearances or statements this would leave steel wool to take on the job of community interaction full-time so yeah complications in the development of security breach and they wouldn't be the last uh it was sort of foreshadowing to how polarizing the game would be on release steel wool had a few more tricks up their sleeve they created a website for security breach which showed static on the screen of a security office slowly though they would add videos to this screen short hanna-barbera style animated episodes of a show called freddy and friends on tour likely a reference to fnaf 4's fred barron friends at the end of these episodes there would be a staticky character reveal along with parts of a code that wouldn't be solved until after the game was released in october another trailer was released with similar mixed reaction from the community finally the game showed up on steam showing that it would be 80 gigabytes it was set to release at 3am december 16th but was delayed until 7pm showing that the developers were still working on it hours before it was released but indeed 7pm rolled around and the game dropped [Music] now obviously there's a big elephant in the room to address which is all of the bug issues which i will get to but first let's just talk about the gameplay as it is supposed to be the basic rundown goes like this you play as gregory who is in the pizzaplex a giant semi-open world environment where your goal is to complete missions throughout the story of the game utilizing some simple puzzle solving collecting different types of keys to let you into new areas a faz watch that is equipped with a camera and a map and freddy who you can hide inside of and control for a limited amount of time you can hide from enemies use distractions to lead them away or utilize your limited stamina correctly to lose them by running let's talk about some of these enemies you'll encounter i'm starting with freddy even though he's not really an enemy but he is an important part of the game and he can be an obstacle at times freddy allows you to climb into his stomach hatch and pilot him like a mech basically he has very limited power however and if you're inside his chest cavity when he runs out he jump scares you you can charge him at charging stations found throughout the pizzaplex when inside the other animatronics won't attack and you can utilize the upgrades you can give him later in the game i'll get into those upgrades in a minute but when you get a part to upgrade freddy with you have to do a mini game where his safety protocols have been deactivated very similar to the parts and service section of help wanted you basically play a series of simon says games and if you mess up jumpscare you're dead the three big enemy animatronics are glamrock chica montgomery gator and roxanne wolfe glamrock chica is one of the main wandering enemies roaming the pizzeria in different areas and chasing you if she sees you montgomery gator is also similar to chica but he's relatively slow he does have a leaping ability though allowing him to cover large distances at times roxanne wolf is sort of a combination of both with a pouncing ability and faster movement later on in the game each character gets attacked leaving them in a more withered state this leaves montgomery gator only able to crawl chica relatively unchanged except for a more unsettling appearance and leaves roxanne without her eyes meaning she has to track you by sound the staff bots aren't all dangerous most of them just sit around and do their job however the security variants if they see you will jump scare you and alert nearby animatronics to your presence who most definitely will kill you there's also corrupted versions of these called the alpha staff bots who work similarly but can also kill you if you fall into certain areas of the game personally security bots were my least favorite part of this game they weren't really scary and made the process of actually navigating certain areas genuinely frustrating on top of that they can also teleport animatronics to you meaning sometimes you'll get an unfair death sentence the endoskeletons exist in the parts and service area and can only move while you're not looking at them much like scp-173 or the endoskeletons and the joy of creation the daycare attendant has two different versions sundrop is an obstacle but not deadly in his area you have to cause distractions for him to move on or else he'll drag you back to the play area the moon drop version is fully deadly and roams around the daycare area as well as a few encounters in the pizzaplex at large only being warded off by entering a recharge station if he sees you he'll chase you and attempt to kill you music man is a familiar face having appeared as a purchasable item in pizzeria simulator he has two versions the mini music man who appears in some vents and chases you or the giant dj music man who can only kill you in a few pre-scripted sequences the two other enemies you'll encounter are vanni and vanessa vanni roams certain areas of the pizza plex slowly making her way towards you and vanessa appears as a roaming enemy in a few sections white woman jumpscare there are a few other characters who show up but we'll get into them in the ending section for now these are the main enemies you'll encounter in the pizzaplex speaking of let's talk a little bit more about the pizzaplex the pizzaplex is a sprawling mix between a mall and disneyland it's broken into seven levels all with their own set of buildings i won't talk about each one because that would take a really long time and not all of them are important but they range from maintenance tunnels parts and service mini golf courses arcades ice cream parlors bowling alleys restaurants go-kart racing laser tag performance stages basically anything you could think of and many of these places have mini games you can play in them whether they be optional or a part of the story phaser blast has you play a game of laser tagging and staff bots monty golf lets you play a little mini golf you can make pizza in the kitchen things like that it's really cool throughout the pizza plex you can find prize boxes and bags that are filled with either collectibles like magnets shirts food drinks plushes things like that they also contain helpful upgrades like faster running speed increased health increased battery power for freddy or increased flashlight battery in addition they can also carry important items like passes that let you access new areas or offensive items like the fazz camera which you can use to temporarily stun animatronics on that note there are multiple offensive items you can get in this game either the faz camera like i mentioned or the phaser blaster which also stuns enemies in addition as you play through the story which we'll get into later you can attack the enemy animatronics like i mentioned earlier this gives you access to their specialized parts upgrades for freddy monty's claws give freddy the ability to access new areas by breaking through them chica's voice box does the same but with voice activated areas as well as stuns some of the animatronics and roxanne's eyes allow you to see collectibles through walls you can only get two of these before you get to the end game where you have access to the first of multiple endings or you can enter hard mode for the other endings basically if you survive until 6am you can either end the game then or stay in the pizzaplex but this time without any save points although the game was later updated to include one save point in this mode here things are a lot harder in higher stakes but you can get other upgrades and complete all the other endings alright i've gone this whole section without talking about the bugs yet so let's talk about them it would be genuinely impossible for me to name all of the glitches this game has to offer so instead let me regale you with some that i encountered large portions of the game just not loading in after you've entered them sometimes causing you to get stuck in geometry or having to restart an entire section with a save point being quite a while back characters just sliding out of existence straight up just hard crashing your game or soft locking you by not allowing you to click out of a pop-up which just freezes the game and stays stuck on your screen again with save points being so inconsistent it can sometimes set you back quite a while these were just some of the common ones that i got some people played through the game relatively bug free others had to experience my bugs and many more almost completely ruining their experience of the game i reinstalled the game post their most recent patch and still had all of these issues many of these glitches are game breaking or run ending which really sucks because pre-patch all of the post-game content had to be done in one go without saving i'll admit i'm not terribly good at these types of games i play a wide variety of games but i'm only really good at things like tetris in games like this i tend to get lost quite easy so i'm willing to blame at least 50 percent of my frustration with this game on myself but that still leaves another 50 percent of my whole time playing being ruined by game breaking bugs or just issues that completely broke the immersion going into this i was already pretty hardened from five nights at freddy's and can't be scared super easily so i wasn't expecting to be scared but i was certainly hoping i'd be more tense and less just numbed and frustrated while playing and while some of that could be attributed to game design i think a lot of it is unintentionally caused by how many issues the game has you just have to sort of resign yourself to the game messing up and causing you to fail multiple times before you actually get through a section now i played the game pre-patch when it first came out for a little bit and it also had many of the same bugs it still does but it seems like at the very least some of the ai has been fixed however post patch a lot of these issues still persist at least from my experience genuinely while i do have other issues with the game i think there's so much potential wasted in the actual fun of the gameplay by constant game breaking bugs especially when the game doesn't really last that long like i played most of it in one sitting and you're spending a lot of that time trying to deal with bugs it really makes for a frustrating experience but again some people got through the game experiencing very little bugs and a lot of them like it so i'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that the game was much better if you're lucky enough to not get hit with any of these issues alright i've been a little vague about how the gameplay works up to this point because it really is intertangled with the story so i will talk about the story in a second but first let's talk visuals and audio the visuals in this game are stunning while i'm not a huge fan of the animatronic designs i feel like they remove any and all fear factor from the characters the environments in this game are amazing it's the type of game that you play through and just keep thinking i wish i could be here in real life the neon lighting looks fantastic the hallways leading to phaser blast or the dimly lit glow of monty's golf are perfect the design of each of these areas is both extremely accurate to something you'd see in something like a mall or restaurant or whatever it is they're trying to replicate but amped up to another level it also has an oddly liminal feeling to it i really love the drawn art that appears in the game by way of posters and wall art it's really like this evolved version of the corporate fazbear drawings we saw in pizzeria simulator but actually has quite a bit of charm and is very high quality again while i'm not a huge fan of the animatronic designs in this game i think the endoskeletons look great and the animation throughout the game is pretty on point one of the only issues i have outside of general design of the characters is that some of the human characters in the game don't really look all that great gregory feels maybe too cartoonish to fit into the world and every time you see his hand in a cutscene it looks really out of place and flat and plasticky vanessa looks fine maybe a bit cartoonish but vani is just so over the top and the way she's animated that she's really just kind of goofy and i was never all that scared of her while playing i'll get a bit more into this later but it seems like the game had some heavy censorship to get the rating that it did and it really shows sometimes especially with vani missing her knife from the original design i said in my first impressions video that i released on my second channel that i would have liked to see a more dead by daylight legion inspired look but she looks more like uh bugs bunny the cut scenes in the game are a mixed bag some of the endings include these really well done fully rendered animations while others include this albeit charming comic book style animation while it looks fine it does feel a bit out of place especially when other endings are fully animated it sort of feels like they ran out of budget or time either or both of which could be true overall the game looks really great if a bit inconsistent at times like most things in this game it's not scary but if you're just looking for fun environments well this game has you covered alright now let's talk audio [Music] much like help wanted i feel pretty indifferent about the audio in this game it's serviceable but not particularly impressive sound effects are where they need to be the game is mixed well but there's not a lot to dig into personally i felt the jumpscare sound was a little underwhelming when it comes to music i think it's pretty good depending on the area the main theme is pretty catchy an 80s inspired tune that i didn't get tired of hearing it was well adapted to different areas from elevators to cut scenes the dj music man area had some really nice high energy music as the level went on even if it did become a bit grating after the millionth time hearing it pick up after another glitch to death the atmosphere in this game is fairly well done it does make the whole place both feel giant and empty hearing certain things running or machinery creaking as you're exploring does create a great sense of eeriness and adventure i won't say the place feels alive because it doesn't and that's the point the place is usually bustling so many of these sounds would normally be drowned out by the sound of people but here you can hear every little creak that echoes through now let's get to voice acting i think my judgment on this comes down to what they were trying to do with the game i felt like everything sort of felt cartoony including the voices so if that's what they were going for great job everyone very recognizable character voices well executed if they were trying to make me take the game seriously not so much but again i think along with the censorship issues the game was going for a slightly younger audience this time the one exception i have to the voices being good is the voice of gregory now it's not uncommon for adult women to do the voices for young boys in animation and games and depending on how good the actor is it can sound more or less convincing i don't think there was a single time in this game that i wasn't acutely aware of the fact that gregory's voice was in fact of an adult human and not a child to be fair the actor a lot of the lines that she was supposed to deliver were odd for a small child to be sang so it was sort of a mix of the two as i go on i realize i don't have a ton to say about the audio anymore i mean if you want some really good analysis of fnap audio go watch scruffy's videos about fnaf which inspired the whole retrospective idea in the first place but honestly the sound is just alright in this game let's move on to the thing everyone is waiting for the story [Music] let's start with basic rundown of the main plot of the game you play as gregory a homeless orphan who sneaks his way into the pizzaplex and gets stuck inside after hours while trying to hide from vanni working with glamrock freddy you have to complete missions and survive until 6am when the doors open as the animatronics vanie and vanessa try to catch you to do this you must unlock new areas of the pizza plex face enemies in areas like the daycare parts and service and the underground tunnels of the pizzaplex to get the necessary tools to survive and escape as you play through it's revealed that the security guard vanessa and vani are the same person and that something is tampering with the animatronics to make them so deadly that isn't affecting freddy for some reason at one point freddy gets damaged and you have to repair him in parts and service while there you realize that each of the animatronics has unique abilities you can then go about acquiring these upgrades by setting traps for the various animatronics the moon drop daycare assistant also appears multiple times and in a final chase sequence at 6am you have to make it to the doors while moondrop follows once you reach the doors the first ending is available to you just leave but staying to complete after game content opens up a ton of new possible endings so let's get into the endings ending 1 is just gregory leaving in a comic book style we see gregory run off and sleep in a cardboard box while a newspaper shows us that the children continue to disappear at freddy fazbear's pizzaplex vani's shadow then appears alluding to gregory's likely demise ending two is an additional way to escape where gregory and freddie escape together in a car freddie using the car battery to stay charged wild ending three is known as the afton ending and is a bit of a wild ride after beating the game you have to fully upgrade freddy from here you can enter the underground location previously unavailable it's the ruined remains of the pizzeria simulator location underneath the pizzaplex here you encounter the blob which most closely resembles molten freddy but with even more animatronics melded together in a final boss encounter it's revealed that surprise surprise william afton isn't dead he's been revived not just digitally but physically you have to protect freddie from being overtaken by burn trap's influence while other animatronics enter the room and the blob's tentacles break through grates in the ceiling and floor in the end freddie and gregory barely escape the collapsing area and we see burn trap being attacked by the blob that was a wild sentence in ending four as freddy and gregory escape freddy burns the pizzaplex to the ground on the roof veni catches gregory and freddy knocks vanie off sending both freddy and vani plummeting to their deaths at the ground when gregory runs down he unmasks vanny as vanessa but then we see vanessa is up on the roof were they twins spirits animatronic humans uh ending five is a mix of the comic book style and animation vania orders the staff bots to disassemble freddy killing him however gregory gets a hold of the controls and tells the staff bots to disassemble vanny ripping her limb from limb wowie ending six occurs if you complete the princess quest games that are hidden throughout the pizzaplex which i'll get to later once you do you can release vanessa from fannie and glitch trap's influence and vanessa gains free will helping gregory leave the last shot shows vanessa gregory and freddie's head sitting on a hill somewhere a big variety there and a lot of insane things just being revealed at the last second but that's just how the game is so before we can get into the interpretations of these endings we have to look at some of the secrets and hidden easter eggs first first off the cds much like the tapes in fnaf vr there are 16 hidden cds that can only be seen with roxanne's eyes playing them in a secret room near the end of the game reveals audio logs of therapy sessions between vanessa and multiple therapists some believe it also includes audio of therapy sessions with someone else and others believe that it's just vanessa in her vani state either way every time the therapist gets close to prying into vanessa's strange conversations with glitch trap they die horribly and vanessa gets a new therapist there's some reference to vanessa's troubled home life and her father bill william maybe but it's also later revealed that this backstory might have been completely made up so who knows either way we see vanessa getting slowly worse as her therapists die mysterious deaths every time they get close to the truth aside from the cds there are also multiple hidden rooms and hideouts that reveal some things underground there's this strange alpha staff bot hideout covered in post-it notes with writing while leaving you can see this table set up like a family a father an older son a daughter with red pigtails a mother and a son with his head missing this seems to pretty directly reference the afton family elizabeth afton michael afton evan afton the bite victim william afton and then the mother who we haven't seen much of if at all at this point there's also a hidden room that can only be accessed by using the faz camera to take photos of certain cutouts throughout the pizza plex when you do the door opens and you have access to a balloon boy themed arcade game which i'll get to in a moment there's also the room where you play the cds which is a near perfect recreation of the room we see in between knights and sister location exotic butters and all michael afton's home what it's doing in the pizza plex i have no idea there's this code on the wall that had to be solved using the pieces of code we got from the freddie and friends on tour videos and a little help from the developers it reveals this strange poem which doesn't really introduce any revolutionary information but is pretty cool it's still unclear what exactly it means if anything now when it comes to secret minigames the game does include a few first off there are multiple princess quest machines that can be found throughout the game all of them must be completed to get the sixth ending inside the hidden balloon boy room you can play a flappy bird style mini game with balloon boy there are small glitches that can be found that lead to a spooky glitchy area as far as i know this game doesn't have any huge lore relevance other than reinforcing that william afton is somehow corrupting the pizzaplex the last thing i want to talk about here isn't really lore per se but cut content first off the game appears to have been censored a lot and we can see in the game files that any mention of death or blood has been removed which feels ridiculous for a game about a serial child murderer anyway judging by the trailers there's also a lot of dialogue story elements and gameplay elements that had to be cut we can hear glitch trap talking to vanni and vani talking to gregory in scenes that we never see in the game inside the game we also see some stuff that is unfinished that i think would have been cool to see bonnie bowle has a bare bones version of a bowling mini game that never got added there's a gallery for models like in helpwana that you can't access anywhere it really appears the scope of the game was originally so much bigger than it ended up being oh also bonnie is like dead or something i don't know [Music] alright we're rounding the bend we're almost done let's talk about the community's general reaction and the theories that have come along with it along with getting more into the old versus new fan dichotomy upon release the community's response to the game was divisive some prominent members of the community being ecstatic about the game and others being very unhappy about it notably fiznom developer of fnaf plus and a part of the fazbear fanverse initiative after his very critical streams of the game decided that he would be leaving the fnaf community and that while he was still developing fnaf plus would not really be keeping up to date with the games anymore or engaging with the community outside of fnf plus he was that let down markiplier also had a notably buggy play through however other people had different experiences like doco seemed to have a fantastic time with the game and really enjoyed it i personally loved being in on those streams i mean having played the game myself i find myself falling slightly to the fisnom side more than anything but it is wild the difference in impression you get on the game depending on who you watch you'd be convinced security breach was the worst game ever made if you watched fiznom stream or that security breach was the series's magnum opus if you watch tacos not that either of them hold those opinions necessarily just that's how good the game appears depending on who you're watching play it and how many bugs they get it's pretty wild this split community reaction started a divide i like to break into old school fnaf fans versus new fnaf fans it's not really an adversarial relationship but they do exist on two different ends also i don't necessarily mean that the new school fans haven't been around since the beginning or that the old school fans are all og's to the series it's more referring to the era of games see some people really liked this new direction it was expanding the story the franchise raising the game to a new level not just graphically but story wise and scale wise others were not crazy about the new aesthetic and thought it lost what made the original game so special this has been a growing issue i think since fan four but especially post sister location the growing feeling that the eerie horror the first few games captured was being changed in service of a more sci-fi route in my opinion neither is better it just depends on personal taste this divide in fans was also further exacerbated by the wave of new fans coming into the series from security breach many of them drawn to the new and colorful iconic looking characters now look i'm not saying that people weren't weirdly horny for the animatronics before this game but well the characters fully embraced their furry nature in this game and it brought a lot of new eyes which in turn refocused the game even more on the new style and less on the old one and yes that includes people being unbelievably down bad for characters like montgomery gator and roxanne wolf to the actual rotting corp serial killer that is william afton anyway all of this is to say we're seeing a small divide in the community grow more and more rapidly aside from that let's talk theories the first big theory coming out of game theory although i'm sure he wasn't the first to bring it up is this idea that gregory is a robot recreation of the crying child and that glam rock freddy is michael afton's spirit and vanessa is some sort of stand-in for elizabeth afton and that the game's real story is the family reunion of the aftons there's some compelling stuff visual similarities between the characters glamrock freddy's sometimes strange dialogue and ability to withstand the corruption of glitch trap the afton family room the ending on the hill with the three of them however like with all things in these games there are plenty of holes poked in the theory pretty quickly one of those things being that some of the strange dialogue appeared to just be that way because of censoring another strangely big question is what happened to bonnie i know i sort of glossed over it in the lore section but to me it's a very uninteresting question something happened to bonnie and he was replaced in the band by montgomery gator most people believe montgomery gator actually killed bonnie to take his place as that's what it seems like the game is hinting at pretty strongly i just felt like once i was theorizing about the interpersonal relationships of the animatronics that's when i realized i'm more of an old-school fanafan there is an interesting theory that bonnie's parts were being used to help create burn trap and summon william afton again so that's fun the princess quest arcades are definitely very interesting originally in the game files the sprite for the princess was named cassidy who if you'll recall was the name of the victim inside golden freddy along with the princess's golden color this seems to suggest that the princess quest game is somehow about where golden freddy is now last we saw cassidy she was tormenting william in hell now that he's back is she no longer able to be put to rest it's worth mentioning that the name was eventually changed to something other than cassidy i think just princess and considering how the works in the game the other theory is that it's about vanessa escaping the clutches of glitch traps influence or maybe some combination of the two the last big question is who the wall code is from theories range from an ominous warning from william afton or vani or michael afton trying to speak from the dead unfortunately it's just so cryptic that it's really hard to make a concrete guess all right there you have it obviously there are more theories going on but those are the big ones that i've been seeing it's a little bit weird talking about the community section because well the game just came out so people are still reacting to it but that's what i've got so far now it's time to see where the games land on the tier list all right so where do the games land on the tier list well i'm going to have to say help wanted goes to c tier i mean it's not that it's the same level of quality as fnaf world this is actually way better than fnaf world quality wise but fnaf world brought something new and interesting and while there is quite a bit of new content in help one it is in the end still a vr port of a lot of the games so i can't justify putting it up in the higher tiers i would say it c works perfectly when it comes to security breach i couldn't put it in f there was too much going on here that i think was while maybe wasted great potential for a game and where it falls in with how the community has moved forward just because that's not my particular thing it definitely isn't a complete disaster so i created a new tier for it d i can tell by putting this here people who like the game are going to disagree and people who don't like the game are going to disagree uh they'll just want it higher or lower but this part has always been just my personal opinion so there you have it so what's next for the games and this retrospective series honestly i'm not sure the series is as divisive as it's ever been and with the newest game having just released i don't know when or if there will be content i'm wanting to cover on the channel it's not that i'm against making more videos about fnaf it's just that i have all of these other things that i'm way more excited about like the next video is going to be about this amazing unfiction project called diminish and it's been a long time since i've been this invested in something i'm not ruling out making more in the future but i just don't know when that will be if ever and no i'm not doing one on special delivery or the fazbear fright books uh maybe i'll make some more fan game ones if it's something that really reaches out to me i mean i probably won't be taking suggestions but juniors looks pretty good in my opinion the fnaf brand has a bright future ahead of it despite my complicated feelings with the series alright that's about it for me you know the drill twitter twitch
