I was so paranoid that I was going to trip on that Podium because I'm an ex model and I'm an ex model because I twirled off the one R that's right and you're never supposed to to look down the life of Suzanne Summers is a fascinating mystery in a world where Hollywood likes to hide more than show if you dig deeper into her life you will find stories you didn't know about how she became a famous actor today we're going to do just that by going over the lies that have come to light since she died but before we look at these let's talk about what made her who she was was early life of Suzanne Summers the life of Suzanne Marie Mahoney began in San Bruno California on October 16th 1946 it was full of hard times and strong people Suzanne was the third child in a Catholic workingclass Irish American Family Fran Frank Mahoney her father worked as a worker and a gardener and Marian Elizabeth Mahoney her mother was a medical secretary but there were dark things going on beneath the surface of family life fr Frank Mahoney's drunken and violent Behavior put Suzanne in danger when she was young being a bed wetter until she was 12 years old made her even more afraid of her violent father and made him even angrier Suzanne had a hard time getting through childhood her autism and her unstable father made it harder for her to do well in school at Mercy High School she had a hard time after being kicked out of school when she was 14 for a stupid mistake even worse when she was 17 her father yelled at her and tore her prom dress which was another low point in her life Suzanne hit him with a tennis racket as a response even though the chances were against her but despite all the problems Suzanne finished high school at cappuccino in 1964 there she did very well in the senior show Guys and Dolls she planned her class's senior ball and won the best doll award she continued her education at Lone Mountain College but dropped out in 1965 when she found out she was pregnant which changed the course of her life she had to deal with hardships and social criticism before marrying Bruce Summers the father of her child at age 19 well this is typical getting a girl pregnant only a man would do a thing like that her early work as Suzanne Summers dealt with the ups and downs of Life her career in the entertainment industry took an interesting turn she started acting in the late 1960s and early 1970s and worked her way up to small budget lead roles during this time she went on talk shows to talk about her growing career and to promote a book that she had written perhaps you remember seeing Suzanne as the blond and the white Thunderbird in the famous movie American Graffiti this was the start of her successful career people noticed her charm and talent and she was invited to appear on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson to share her inspiring stories and goals as an actress Summers first showed her range in the early 1970s on the American sitcom lots of luck where she played the fem fatal other roles in popular TV shows like the Rockford files and Magnum Force where she played a famous uncredited pool girl role also showed how skilled she was Suzanne didn't want to stay in one genre so she tried science fiction in 1977 and one over viewers with her Charming guest role on the $6 million man she kept going in the entertainment World by appearing in the first episode of the loveboat as a passenger and adding her own style to the Beloved show her controversial salary but life had even bigger plans for her because she got the lead role in the famous ABC show Threes Company in 1977 ABC president Fred Silverman suggested Summers for the part after trying out other actresses for the first two pilot episodes and not being impressed her famous performance on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson showed how television can help people advance in their careers and was used as an example by Carson Summers was a great choice to play Chrissy snow the office secretary who lives up to all the stereotypical blonde traits as the show took off with Joyce dwit and John Ritter co-starring viewers connected with the funny Dynamic of two straight women living together with a man who was pretending to be gay making Threes Company an instant hit in the neelon ratings Chris snow quickly won over fans with her contagious charm and unique personality and summers's talent was clear in the early days of the show Summers was making $3,500 a week which was a sign of her growing popularity the show's cultural impact was strengthened when The Ropers a short spin-off was made because of the clear connection between The Ensemble members but Fame came with its own problems when the show's fifth season started in 1980 Summers with the support of her second husband Alan Hamill boldly asked for a huge pay raise from $330,000 to $150,000 per episode so that her pay would be equal to that of co-star John Ritter and she could get a cut of the show's profits the negotiation became a news story that showed how things were changing for women in the entertainment industry when ABC made a counter offer of just $5,000 they opened the door to controversy unfazed Summers took a risky stance and refused to appear in some of the most important shows making up excuses like a broken rib as the fight got worse ABC cut Summers part in each episode down to a meager 60 seconds Chrissy snow only showed up when she called from her parents house to close tags in the end the network fired Summers which led to a court battle Summers sued ABC for $2 million saying that she had lost her Hollywood reputation during the fight her runchy life after ABC after the rough time with thre's company in 1983 Suzanne Summers began a New Journey she joined forces with Hamill Summers Productions and signed a deal with Columbia Pictures Television to go beyond the comedy Wars it was a surprise when Summers and her co-star John Ritter got back together as friends after a 20-year breakup however the Friendship had a sad undertone because it happened right before Ritter's sudden death in 2003 which gave the story a moving sense of closure Summers then became famous for another reason when she was on the covers of Playboy in 1980 and 1984 her son Bruce Jr had been hurt in a car accident so she made the choice out of a genuine desire to pay for his medical bills Summer's rise from a struggling actress and model in 1970 to a Playboy feature showed her determination to overcome challenges even if it meant revealing everything but there were problems when when on The Tonight Show in 1980 Summers denied ever posing naked which led Playboy to release unapproved photos from the 1970 shoot the incident became a footnote in her career showing that the spotlight can cast Shadows even when people are trying to do good things Suzanne summers's New Life as a celebrity in the 1980s was full of twists and turns she didn't see coming the Playboy story which started out as a way for her to pay for her son's medical bills went in a different direction by the time the pictures were found again in 1980 her son was a teenager so there were fears that the news would come as a shock Summers took a chance and sued Playboy the set was destroyed Summers was presented with yet another Playboy idea in 1984 after the events of Three's Company she wanted to take back control of her story and agreed to a second nude photo shoot which was set up by photographer Richard fegley this time Summers felt it was important to have a say in how the photo turned out her 18-year-old son saw the second picture which showed how hard it is to stay true to on the 1984 Playboy photo shoot marked a significant turning point in Suzanne summers's career and personal narrative unlike the turmoil and controversy that surrounded her first foray into the magazine this second appearance was about empowerment and taking ownership of her Public Image Summers was more than a television star she was a woman who had faced considerable adversity and was now looking to redefine her identity on her own terms collaborating with photographer Richard fegley Summers ensured that the photo shoot reflected her vision and Aesthetics this proactive approach was in stark contrast to the passive role she had played in the earlier part of her career where decisions about her image were often made without her full consent or control the photo shoot was carefully planned with Summers actively participating in the selection of poses settings and the overall mood of the shoot her involvement ensured that the final product was something that she could be proud of a representation of her strength Beauty and resilience The public's reaction to summers's 1984 Playboy appearance was mixed but it undoubtedly contributed to changing perceptions of her she was no longer just the bubbly blonde from thre's company instead she was now also seen as an adult with a runchy Hobby in the 1980s Summers still enjoyed being in the spotlight as a performer in Las Vegas she made a name for herself as a performer which shows that persistence and Reinventing herself were important parts of her story she was the headliner at the MGM Grand for 2 years until a terrible fire and then she ruled the stage at the Las Vegas Hilton for another 2 and A2 years Suzanne Summers trip at this time shows her ability to deal with difficult situations around the early 1980s Suzanne Summers showed how dedicated she was to her craft and how close she was to her Audience by performing for American soldiers serving overseas she then switched to Comedy and played a determined Widow who become Sheriff of A Nevada town from 1987 to 1989 the episode aired in her and she handled the constantly changing landscape with poise and determination from the Playboy Scandal to sitcom Fame and Beyond Suzanne Summers Journey Through the 1980s and 1990s showed a woman willing to rewrite her past one role at a time but her story is more than this the most valuable thing I figured out about who I am is that I am not perfect I tried so hard my whole life to be perfect I'm not perfect it's such a relief her final career moves instead of talking about her health problems let's look at what she has done in the past for example the famous artist kept telling her story when she starred in keeping secrets a 2-hour ABC biographical drama based on her first autobiography the movie showed summers's troubled childhood an amazing rise to fame summers's move into daytime talk shows with Suzanne Summers in 1994 shows how flexible she is the show only lasted one season but it added a new dimension to her already varied career her comeback sitcom step bystep did well on ABC until the end of its sixth season in 1997 which marked the end of an era Suzanne Summers later career showed not only how brilliant she was but also how she could reinvent herself adapt and be magnetic in the entertainment industry which is always changing in the late 1990s and early 2000s Summers kept getting better from 1997 to 1999 she and Peter Funt showed off their wit as co-hosts of the relaunched candid camera but in the 2000s Summers really went against the grain she switched to the Home Shopping Network and quickly made a name for herself there working more than 25 hours a month to promote her own line of jewelry clothes and HomeGoods Summer's one woman show about her life the blonde in the Thunderbird had its premiere on Broadway in the summer of 2005 there were high hopes for the show but it had to close early because of bad reviews and low ticket sales to show how strong she was Summers constantly made comparisons between how her opponents were treated and how soldiers were treated in the Iraq War summmer breaking through an online chat show on Cafe mom launched a digital platform in 2012 and after 31 years apart former co-star Joyce dwit from thre's had a lumpectomy and radiation treatment by chance Summers found out in November 2008 that she had been wrongly diagnosed with an incurable cancer this made her look into other options which she wrote
