hey guys it's nadir from ocean conservation namibia so we came out this morning quite early um and we managed to get four seals the first one had a some fishing line around him the next one was actually stuck in the the head part of a um of a hard hat we had one with gilnet which was quite a technical release and then we had another one just in fishing line also quite a deep cut so successful morning since we did catch four seals but the wind just came up crazy we've had these massive sand storms for the last for the last week or two and uh the wind just came up blasting us the seals are very edgy and it's very difficult to catch them in the wind like this so if i had to call it off for the day but still a good day nonetheless so hope you guys enjoy what you see so we're targeting a young pup looks into a very deep cut could be infected around its neck but we can't actually see an entanglement material so we're just going to catch them and check it out because we assume that something there might still be something in there but that's not to say there is oh [Music] [Applause] cool this line um and then lift his head out huh it's okay good decision [Music] [Applause] on top [Applause] hmm you don't bite huh don't bite i know [Applause] another thin piece of line uh some some sort of nylon rope two knots on it but you can see the amount of damage i was causing it's terrible it's probably been on there for a while [Music] okay so we've seen a pup with a hard at strap the inside of a hard hat around his neck um he's in the edge of the group but we're going to drive in so we can get to him quicker here you see him danny okay let's go running here that's okay we don't need that yes lower some chocolate earth side oh so a piece of fishing line with some old braided line in it so this was the trace [Applause] and then the inner frame from a normal like working hard hat probably came from one of the ships maybe on the oil rigs um and just so you know as a lot of people ask this does go home we do not leave this here everything gets bagged collected and get for later analysis and different research purposes [Music] see yeah we've got a seal pup looks like he's got some gill net around his chest it's a low low cut but it seems like it could be a deep cut quite a big pup so we'll see we might have to use the net [Applause] ah that's okay well that's what you get what's going on [Music] this is quite a technical one the skin has grown over in many places very thin line obviously cut quite quickly the skin has grown over so we have to do a little bit of surgery here try and extract it as carefully as we can it's okay that's one cut okay now there's a lot to start this way it's okay it's okay [Music] [Applause] can you put it on the back [Music] you don't bite [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] i know i know i know poppy i know oh [Music] i know i can see uh hey be nice turn is [Applause] [Applause] okay yo that was a intense one see all these little knots i had to pull some of them through but um i think that really did with such thin line it's really not even that strong line but it does so much damage give me a little bite but luckily these gloves took care of that cool you
