McNabb would like to address the court good sir I just like I just like of the court to note as well as everybody got home since this has been broadcasted for whatever reasons that I did have on a turtle soup and it velcros and it wasn't home properly and it didn't fit properly and the velcro's were not own good because they don't stick because they've been used for so many years by so many different people and I was not masturbating at all in front of her period the thing fell off when I stood up and that was it there was no none of that I would have liked to had told her that since she was the one making the accusation since I'm pretty sure by my work my the law states that I have a right to confront my witnesses to accuse me of doing wrong so I felt like I wanted to say it in front of her since she was the one up here slandering me that's all I got about the sentencing and all that that was the only thing you wanted to tell the court I mean that's I haven't heard anything about a sentence I was just soon comment on that baggage I just wanted to know if you had anything you wanted to say to the court I mean I gotta learn to say I got a lot to say but I'm not gonna be able to say half of it I don't know cuz I don't know what you're gonna say I'm innocent I didn't do it yeah I've maintained that the whole time I feel like there was things that were allowed to be said that should have never been allowed didn't have no nothing whatsoever to do with the case and what was being said just because somebody has domestic abuse the issues with their spouse doesn't mean that they would put their hands on their kids which has also been pretty much proved that I've never touched my kids in any harmful manner whatsoever I've never harmed my kids I didn't even hear anything that said that I had done anything to her in front of the kids so that doesn't make sense either and you know just let the record show that I I don't think I ever ever put my hands on her in front of those kids and I just don't I just don't feel like just because somebody has domestic issues with the female in their life that they love that they were just able to just say oh he don't love you and all that stuff just in front of everybody or whatever which doesn't matter but I just don't understand how you find somebody guilty of doing something to a fifteen day old baby because there was no evidence whatsoever that proved anything about me putting my hands on my kids I've never done it I never would I don't believe in it I was beat as a child and I don't agree with it at all and I would never do it I would never do this that's all I got to say I would never do it I'm innocent well I could make a lot of comments so what you're saying I can make a lot of comments on the trial but I know that was just be arguing with you or talking with y'all ask you one simple question you claim you're innocent so you tell me what son's the man or woman that you claimed did this should receive if you ever find out who did it they deserve to be out of the jail okay so they ought to get the maximum since most definitely okay on the crime of malice murder I sent you to life and confinement without parole I'm consuming the death of another i sentence you to ten years it confinement consecutive or after count one do you understand each of your sentences yes sir weld advised you that you have 30 days after today to file a notice of appeal every file on this case I'm gonna mr. Carter on behalf of ye to file a motion for a new trial to make sure your rights are protected if you wish to allege that mr. Carter did not do an effective job then we'll bring in another

I agree that he seems genuinely convinced that he’s innocent. Having said that he also thinks not beating his girlfriend in front of their kids is some kind of redeeming quality he should get point for.

If that baby was killed by anyone other than her parents surely they’re be forensic evidence pointing that way.

If you’re busy getting high with your partner instead of taking care of your baby who is then murdered then you deserve to spend your life in jail.

Jurors on Tuesday afternoon found Newton County parents Christopher McNabb and Cortney Bell guilty in the death of their 2-week-old baby. McNabb was sentenced to life in prison without parole, Bell to 30 years with 15 to serve.

Caliyah had multiple skull fractures and her teeth poked through her gums, the medical examiner testified. Her tiny body was discovered in a drawstring Nike bag in a wooded area not far from the family’s mobile home.

Bell reported the baby missing in October 2017 and McNabb angrily demanded her return in front of television cameras. It’s likely that Caliyah was already dead by the time McNabb pleaded for the community’s help in finding her.

District Attorney Layla Zon said only Caliyah’s parents could have been the culprits in her death. McNabb and Bell kept a filthy home, used drugs and had a violent relationship, jurors learned during their trial.

“She was a gift to Cortney Bell and Christopher McNabb,” Zon said during closing arguments. “That child was doomed the moment they left that hospital. They took pure innocence and brought that child into a life of hell.”

No where in the article does it state there was cut and dry evidence proving they were the murderers. I think the consensus was that the blame rested squarely on their shoulders whether or not it could be proven that they delivered the killing blows. The house was a nightmare.

So the defense did the usual "dress up the suspect in a nice suit and glasses to make him look intelligent and harmless", but with his trashy face tattoos it just makes him look even more unnerving.
