soul and saw that might and these words which i command thee this day shall be upon thy heart we will now begin our sabbath school devotional period with the reading of the scripture our sabbath school devotional scripture will come from psalm 1 blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful but his delight is in the law of the lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper the ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which wind driveth away therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous for the lord knoweth the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish thus ended the scripture reading i will now recite the keys and the commandments on behalf of the sabbath school first key church of god and saints of christ first corinthians chapter one and verse two second key wine is forbidden to be drunk in the church of god and saints of christ forever leviticus chapter 10 and verse 9 third key unleavened bread and water for christ's body and blood saint matthew chapter 6 and 20 verses 6 and 20 through 8 and 20. fourth key foot washing is a commandment saint john chapter 13 verses one through eight fifth key the disciples prayer saint matthew chapter six verses nine to fourteen sixty you must be breathed upon and saluted into the church of god and saints of christ with a holy kiss romans chapter 16 and verse 16 saint john chapter 20 verse 2 and 20. seventh key the ten commandments exodus chapter 20 verses 1 to 18 summary of the commandments the first of all the commandments is hear o israel the lord is our god the lord is one and thou shalt love the lord thy god with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind and with all thy strength and the second is like namely this thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy cell on these two commandments and all the law and the prophets the morning scripture reading was taken from numbers chapters 13 and 40 14 there are no precept verses found in these chapters i will recite a memory verse on behalf of the sabbath school numbers chapter 14 and verse 8 if the lord delight in us then he will bring us into this land and give it us a land which floweth with milk and honey giving honor to god and recognition to prophet william saunders crowdy and our executive leader chief rabbi philip e mcneil grandfather abraham ministerial body sabbath school officers and scholars shalom alaikum our sabbath school devotional has ended we will now begin our class session our passover theme is wait on the lord be of good courage keep his way walk and not faint last sabbath we heard from saint laurent saunders who focused on the first part of the theme wait on the lord then we heard from the assistant general sabbath school superintendent saint khadija miller who focused on the second part of the theme be of good courage today we will hear from elder ezra messena district sabbath school superintendent from samaria tabernacle south africa we will focus he will focus on the third part of the theme and keep his way then i will conclude the session by focusing on the last part of the theme walk and not wait walk and not faint as well as the relationship between the four segments of the theme please welcome our first speaker elder ezra messenger unto the house of israel giving praise to the almighty god and recognition to our leader chief rabbi eugene mcneil the ministerial body the sabbath school officers and scholars i say shalom for the next few minutes please journey with me as we explore the synopsis of the third portion of the thing keep his ways loosely this is about keeping the law and therefore let us explore this theme under the topic the laws and the ethics why this topic the aim is to find biblical or hebraic ethics that are related to the law either as a prelude to the law or because of the law so when we look at every law and every teaching there seems to have there seems to be an underlying principle which will include values which will include ethics and if one wants to deal it to diligently keep the law one must also practice the ethics that are associated with that law when we define the the ethics we can look at these ethics or life principles to put it simple as a code of conduct that allows members of society to live harmoniously to flourish together and also to succeed together when we look at the word law for today this word will include uh the tron it will also include the half torah which is the writings as well as the prophets it will also include the gospels it will include the teachings from our establisher and we shall also include those teaching from our leaders as well as other teachers of righteousness let us make an example trying to find ethics from the law let us take the the ten commandment which says thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house and it goes on this law speaks to life principles or ethics that are related to desire it says you shall not desire what belongs to your neighbor but ethically we must control our desire we must guide against the intoxication of the senses and the urge to outrun our fellowmen in the race of health and power so uncontrolled desires lead to unethical behaviors such as to name a few ugly and fierce competition among people infidelity greed it can drive and it can also be driven by envy and jealousy so what ethics can we extract from this law or life principles to put it simple this law tells us that we must be careful of envy and jealousy the prophet said envy and jealousy is sin it also says we must be content with what we have we must be content with who we are we must discover our strengths and weaknesses and also be happy with them our strengths and weaknesses as we improve on our weaknesses when we look at the pelvic from philippians chapter 4 verses 11 i have learned that in all things i must be content it also related to being thankful for what you have so that you are content the prophet said i also desire that all the church of god and saints of christ should tend thanks to god for the smallest thing they receive even to a drink of water if you drink a hundred times a day thank him for it and teach it to your children and inmates of your house we also know that when when jesus christ blessed when jesus christ bled blessed bread and fish it multiplied and he was able to feed thousands of people which means if we are thankful for the little that we have it has a potential to grow as well as to multiply desire also cause us to self-control again these are ethics because there is nothing wrong with desiring good if the antithesis is thou shalt not desire for evil then the thesis should be thou shalt desire what is good that's why the psalmist says one thing have i desired of my god that i may dwell in his house not just the physical house the spiritual house as well as the laws of the almighty god there's nothing wrong with young people who desire to grow who have dreams to be better there's nothing wrong with those ambitions but they've got to be controlled in a manner that as you came up the ladder don't hurt anybody intentionally on your way up we can see from this law that we've got the law we've got the ethics and all that we need to do now the third step we've got to practice it so the law must lead to a value-based system or ethics at a personal level at an organizational level as well as in our society if we want to grow as a people we've got to consider the ethics and teach each other based on the ethics when we keep his ways we must strive to apply these as part of our social norms the law as well as the related ethics let us look at the summary of the commandments which we had today we're going to look at the summary and then we're going to take one example from each and we'll close this portion when we say thou shall love the lord thy god this is an ethical consideration for the first to the fourth commandment laws governing our relationship with god when we say thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself this represents the fifth to the ten commandment laws governing our relationship with others so when you keep the ten commandments to keep them holistically we also have to show some love to god as well as to the people of god our reestablisher started off by saying repent and believe the gospel and we know that the gospel in jesus in jesus session is based on the laws and the prophets because he said think not that i've come to destroy the law and the prophet and the prophet he started with repent and believe the gospel which is the law he ended his journey with children love little children love ye one another and obey to show that the law the law was the beginning the love was the end there is a relationship it's the same message there can be no keeping of his ways without love so in keeping his ways we realize that we graduate from low to low we move from mitzvah to mitzvah we move from ethics to ethics but the journey is not easy that's why we are all striving towards perfection so in this journey we will climb we will fall if that is the name of the game but it doesn't mean we must stop trying and it's also important to realize that in love love itself is a space for creativity when we fail to love others when we are not at peace with ourselves we are not able to be creative as students at school as society as preachers as writers as artists we are not able to create anything without love there can be no creativity so keeping his ways is a call not to shame anybody who is not keeping his ways but what it does is that it builds our conscience so that when we a the guilt kicks in and when guilt kicks in we then make those tiny tweaks in our hearts and in our habits that show that we are trying to obey the letter and the spirit of the law as we heard when we are praying this morning i'm gonna pick up one example from love thy neighbor and pick up one example from love thy god and we will close this session so all the laws in the love thy neighbor section are about preserving human dignity there is something called in the african philosophy ubuntu i am because you are or a person is a person because of other people so we make people if we make angry people we did it if we make happy people we did it as we interact with people with people we determine how our day how their day will go so the ethical perspective here when it when we take the letter of the sixth commandment thou shalt not cheer i know that many of us here have not killed a human being but that is the letter of the law what about the spirit of the lord because of our human friendlies let me ask this question have we not participated in character assassination that is the spirit of the law through our weights have we not ruined or killed people's reputation and murdered their spirit that is the spirit of the law this could be done through falsehood against the nine commandment or it could also be done through truth when someone says something negative about someone or something they don't like even if it is true because this is also disallowed in leviticus chapter 19 verses 16 the lashon harano thou shall not go up and down as the tail bearer cities have been down and many have committed suicide in shame because of this that is the spirit of the lord jesus spoke about this in matthew chapter 5 from verse 1 and 22 and 20 he said ye have heard that it was said by them of all time thou shalt not kill and whosoever shall kill is in danger of judgment but i say unto you whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be in danger of judgment so he gives us a prelude to murder that even a prelude to matter ethically is wrong so what are other elements of a prelude to matter anger without cause hatred bitterness envy and jealousy greed as well as tail bearers but we also kill ourselves we take it upon ourselves to kill ourselves through our diet through substance abuse through stress and not having time to rest and praise god which is slow suicide we also kill others self-esteem by the words that we say to them we kill their self-morale their self-confidence we even kill their dreams so how can we counter this from an ethical point of view instead of all the negative i've mentioned we've got to build patience and long suffering we've got to build forgiveness we've got to build love we've got to hold our peace and we also have to exercise self-control let us finish on this one thou shall love the lord thy god this brings in a principle of unshakable faith in god when we say the storm we say hear o israel the lord our god the lord is one therefore whatever we have that gives us comfort must not replace our god what could be those things that can replace our god the threats in life are our positions our power our perception of things our material possessions pomposity to be pompous personalities especially self-elevation chief rabbi levi did the same exercise with the keys and commandments and he said the keys represent some he gave us the keys and gave us the interpretation such as divine ownership humility a purity and then he said on divine ownership we have to ask ourselves when we do something before we do something can a child of god do what i'm about to do because i am divinely owned i am a child of god ask yourself this question is this right is it the law is it ethical is it good is it fair and the main one is is this really who i am that is the letter and that is the spirit of the law i will now turn over the next section of the presentation to our general summer school superintendent amen thank you elder messenia for such an enlightening lesson on the third segment of the theme keep his way now i will focus on the fourth segment walk and not faint i will also discuss the relationship between the four segments of the theme i would like to first draw your attention to the scripture first corinthians chapter 3 and verse 16 which poses the question know ye not that ye are the temple of god and that the spirit of god dwelleth in you i would also like to direct your attention to second corinthians chapter 6 and verse 16 which poses another question but follows it up with a statement of truth the scripture states and what agreement hath the temple of god with idols for ye are the temple of the living god as god hath said i will dwell in them and walk in them these scriptures clearly let us know the perfect holy spirit of god dwells in us each one of us and since that spirit not only dwells in us but also walks in us we can walk and not faint so why then in our walk when we are confronted with challenges do we oftentimes faint you see we operate in a state of mind that says we are separate from god and god is separate from us this belief facilitates the weakness that causes us to faint when we face challenges but we can never be disconnected from god the scripture says the spirit of god dwells in us and isaiah chapter 1 and 40 and verse 10 says fear thou not for i am with thee be thou not dismayed for i am thy god i will strengthen thee yea i will help thee not i will be with thee but i am with thee and i am thy god. genesis chapter 15 and verse 1 says after these things the word of the lord came unto abram in a vision saying fear not abram i am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward god is not god does not give us a shield god is our shield god does not give us a reward god is our reward god does not give us freedom god is our freedom god does not give us victory god is our victory god does not give us supply god is our supply god does not give us peace god is our peace god does not give us strength god is our strength god says i am all these things in you because god is already in us as all that we need god does not give us anything god is our everything if someone gives you a plate of food when you finish eating that plate of food it is gone it is over it is done there is no more god gives us nothing because god is the infinite well of supply that continuously flows into our lives demonstrating as everything we need when we need it how we need it and where we need it it is never gone it is never done it is never over god is always with us because god is always in us this recognition of the god in us is the foundation of all four segments of this passover theme as we contemplate the theme wait on the lord be of good courage keep his way walk and not faint we will clearly see that all four areas of this team are interrelated we will also realize that the first three are the building blocks to reach the last which is weight walk and not faint each chris scripture associated with the theme psalm 7 and 20 verse 14 psalms 7 and 30 and verse 4 and 30 and isaiah chapter 40 and verse 1 and 30 all start with the idea of wait on the lord this is truly the first step in being able to walk and not faint so what does it mean to wait on the lord it means we do not lean on to our own understanding we do not execute our own will but we wait and we do not move until the spirit of god in us tells us to move then we obey and we walk regardless of where we are in our level of waiting as described by saint laverne saunders last sabbath we must encourage ourselves in the lord as we wait god is the great choreographer of life god's choreography is flawless and god's plan is perfect therefore we must trust the process because trusting the process is trusting the god in us who is leading and guiding us jeremiah chapter 9 and 20 and verse 11 tells us for i know the thoughts that i think toward you said the lord thoughts of peace and not evil so god's thoughts toward us are good so if we wait on the lord the spirit of god in us will indeed move us in the direction of our greater good and when we move we must move with good courage sometimes when we're waiting or when we receive the direction from god to move we become fearful as we wait we may think i don't know how much longer i can take this i can't continue like this i don't see a way out or as we get the directive from god to move we may say i can't go where god is sending me i've never been that way before it doesn't seem right it looks too hard i can't do that this is when we must dig deep and encourage ourselves in the lord by making the fist saint khadija miller told us about last sabbath she told us to insert whatever works words work for us in the acronym of fists to help us to stay in the place of good courage some of the examples she gave us are be faithful even in the faith of uncertainty be faithful remember i am we just talked about all that i am is in us stand still for when we stand still we will see the salvation of god and she said trust god in all that we do trust god as we wait or as we move with good courage we must keep god's way it is interesting that psalm 7 and 30 and verse 4 and 30 says keep his way and not his ways why does it say way i believe that at the end of the day god has only one way jesus summed it up in matthew chapter 2 and 20 in verse 7 and 30 and 40. and as elder ezra messenger just talked with us about that these verses state jesus said unto him thou shalt love the lord thy god with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind this is the first and great commandment and the second is like unto it thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself on these two commandments and all the law and the prophets so all of god laws and all of god's prophets are steeped in love it can be no other way because first john chapter 4 and verse 8 says god is love therefore god's way is love if we allow that spirit of god in us to reign supreme then we will be loved embodying and exemplifying love in all that we do this will ensure that we continuously operate from a place of high moral and ethical standards just spoken of by elder ezra messenger it will be written in our hearts therefore we will keep god's way naturally this is what prophet william saunders proudly brought to us and every leader of this religious organization up to the present day leader continue to urge us to children love ye one another when we embody the love of god we will demonstrate as chief rabbi says absolute obedience to the will of god we will surrender to the spirit of god so that god will walk in us lead us guide us direct our path and because we know that the only power there is in the universe reigns supreme in our lives we will walk where god sends us and no matter what the appearance of things may be before us even if we don't understand we will move with the assurance that god is sending us in the direction of our greater good we will walk and not feigned so what does it mean to walk and not faint the word walk means an act of traveling or moving at a regular pace by foot the word faint means to become weak or lose consciousness or awareness the feet are the obedient servants of the body and our body goes where our minds directed to go so if our minds are not controlled by the spirit of god in us then guess what we are moving at a pace where we are leading to our own understanding following our own will that is oftentimes driven by fear and doubt therefore we are ignoring the perfect wisdom and all-knowingness of the god in us we are neglecting the guidance of the still small voice that abides in us and we are heeding in we are heading in a direction that leads us to trials and tribulation but when we give way to the spirit of god in us to lead and guide our every move and we obey then every place that the souls of our feet shred upon is already prepared to yield our greater good and no matter what we may be going through no matter what we may be experiences we can count it all joy because we trust god's process knowing and accepting with every fiber of our being what it says in psalm 190 and verse 7 a thousand shall fall by at thy side and 10 000 at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thee therefore through all things we walk and not feign which means no matter what troubles trials or tribulations we may be facing we will not become weak or lose our awareness of the truth that god is with us and this god in you is your strength and your courage and as long as you let go the reigns and turn the control over to god god will show up every time to keep you moving forward to reach your greater good children of god who are the temples of the living god let me share my experience with you i did not wait on the lord because the lord showed up the lord showed up because i waited on the lord i was not of good courage because the lord showed up the lord showed up because i was of good courage i did not keep the lord's way because the lord showed up the lord showed up because i kept the lord's way i did not walk and not faint because the lord showed up the lord showed up because i walked and did not faint children of the true and living god surrender your own understanding your own will your own desires your fears and your doubts surrender them to the spirit of god in new terrain supreme in your life for in this action of surrender no matter what challenges obstacles trials tribulations pain or suffering you may be facing the spirit of god will rise up in you and you will find the strength to wait on the lord to be of good courage and to keep god's way so that you will be able to walk through all valleys of perilous time and not faint my time is up thank you for yours this ends this portion of our sabbath school session i will now turn the sabbath school over into the hands of chief rabbi philippe mcneil grandfather abraham amen amen i i don't know if i don't know if i wanted to turn i don't i want to turn it into my hands i may not be able to deal with it but this has been a very fine sequence of lessons from the sabbath school okay i gleaned so much from from each of the lecturers um as they as they were talking i i was thinking about i was thinking about abraham god called him and selected him and the scripture said abraham believed god and it was counted to abraham for righteousness and some interpret that expression to mean that since abraham believed god since he had faith in god and that was that was sufficient for his salvation indeed many of our brothers and sisters many of our christian brothers and sisters like this as an example that the grace of god is sufficient in itself for the salvation of individuals but but i hasten to point out that the lord on another occasion instructed abraham to walk before me and be thou perfect so so it's not so it's not enough it seems to me to affirm your faith in god your trust in god and so forth eventually you have to do some walking eventually you have to walk before your maker thriving to keep his commandments hitting and missing falling short but striving to keep his commandments getting closer and closer to that mark of perfection and and i think if you if you look at the if you look at the different segments of the theme weight on the law be of good courage to keep his way it suggests that there that they're all leading up as general sap school superintendent said leading up to the final one start walking start walking and not playing so i thank the presenters of the sabbath school for giving us these insights into the theme and giving us ammunition get giving us where wherewithal so that we can actually obey the command that god gave abraham namely walk before me and be the operator to keep my commandments so thank you so much in charmaine thank you ezra thank you so much for that for that lightening approach to money out of it encouragement do what the lord wants live thank you so much have a session now we're ready to in our worship service as is our custom we're going to take take about five minutes to prepare for the worship service and um we'll have a musical interlude and perhaps some announcements will be made during that time so let us begin a five minute intermission [Music] in the land of egypt this month shall be unto you unto you the beginning and the lord of egypt this month shall be uh [Music] out [Music] the oh to the children of israel this day came out in the morning of [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] amen thank the lord seven days we have been eating unleavened bread have you been eating unleavened bread for seven days this feast of unleavened bread it's the seven day feast first day is a holy convocation according to the scripture and the last day the holy convocation but in between there we are eating unleavened bread according to the commandment in the scripture this is a this is a great day for brothers and sisters in spite of our separation in spite of the things going on this is a great day the lord has blessed us to come through eight days of service eight days of praise eight days of worship eight days of singing eight days of loving i don't believe anybody in the congregation had a at a single hate bone in them during these eight days but this is the transformation that the lord can perform on you and me when we strive when we strive to do his commandments he said walk before me and that means every day every day we have to walk in a way that is pleasing to the almighty god and thank the lord for sending us his prophethood it gave us the essential of this walk that we must have and that he connected us with the god of our salvation the god of abraham isaac and jacob taught us of his commandments and his statures and gave us the ability to connect with the god of our fathers thank the lord the lord is still as sister spellers says still the lord is still in the blessing business and now we're about to to move on to a new blessing namely the opportunity to worship the lord and the beauty of holiness on this beautiful sabbath day and we're going to have a preliminary call to worship by sister elder anita angela tooms from miami the the local past in charge of the miami tabernacle who has been good to each and every one of us and allowed us to assemble once again on this ending of a feast of the lord's passover and on the blessing of the sabbath day thanking him for sending prophet william saunders crowd who did not leave us comfortless he left us a succession of great leaders up to and including chief rabbi philippe mcneil grandfather abraham who was fighting his way through to the ministerial bodies here is simple to you the sons and daughters of the god of abraham all my bearers of grandfather abraham visitors and friends i greet you all here my assignment as chief rabbi said this afternoon is to render the call to worship now i trust that our feet have been firmly planted on the worship pedal from the onset of this feast until this present time i picture my brothers and sisters from all over the kingdom joining me as we praised staying cut shouted praised the lord in our own way in our own homes wherever we were if no doubt something at some point should have stirred up the inner man or in a woman however i wanted us to up the ante if we prepare to conclude the 2021 or 5782 feast of the lord's passover now that term is typically associated with the growing orange invaded so to speak and what this place in the world we god's people are going to up the spiritual entity we're about giving our all to the most high we cut more abundantly on the other side you see people have gone all but we won't come out with great substance and without referring to material gain from 6 33 or 3 and 30 tells us to think he first the kingdom of god and his righteousness don't you know that the greatest pride in life is to taste and see the lord for ourselves we're talking about the firsthand account we know for ourselves but but for the lord's mighty hand but for the lord's grace but for his mercy his law of his compassion his power history but for the lord while we love hearing the testimonies of mom and dad and the saints of over those experienced faiths i love it but at that time we started writing our own stories i think it's time to up the spiritual entity for the almighty thus my fervent prayer and request to all of us if we repeat our hearts and minds for worship and reach even higher in that we experience the lord yes for a virtual worship experience when it sucks the meaning of that word experience two definitions in particular stood out inaudibly they go hand in hand the first thing is personal contact with an observation of an event or someone we're sending into the second definition an event that leaves an impression on someone thus whenever we experience the lord it will leave his mark on his body and soul awaken these raw bones turn thumbnails into joy give us more peace keep our lives lifted to the heels almost cometh up the spiritual entity with the worship experience on this last day of the feast please saints remember this it's been weighing on my heart and i want us to keep this in mind in order to experience the lord we must look for him in the details what do you mean sister and faith and friends what the prosperity brought us is transforming amazing and all the other acropol terms we could get it but if we are not careful we will find ourselves becoming too familiar with the familiar with to become numb to what we see fulfilled during our services such that we gloss over the fact that it all points us to god i think this a few weeks ago when it bears repeating in fact one of the speakers said this yesterday with god there is no such thing as the coincidence he put us on his virtual platform on this day for a reason and i dare say a salvific morning there are many other places we can be right now but the lord said to each of us my child i want you there and emanate this world as we've been called to do we're here aren't we the spiritual empty and about sheep rabbi indicated start writing our own scriptures we're here aren't we ain't no creature in christ the spiritual enemy and come out forever let us go into the house of the lord when are we one of the spiritual entities and coming from the other side so for him forbidden of us and think with that reach off in heaven to death to do we heart like that right and said in your lord turn again to me and i'm serving to be a new song all the days of my life when we why not of the spirituality and i'm encouraging ourselves as david did and testifying to them when we were brother or sister he took my feet and if he get it from me he can surely do it for you you see somebody has to be a witness for the lord we're gonna eat the spiritual anti today so brothers and sisters all over this platform i know the assembly is a few months off at large park but i'll be ready for the questions i'll be ready to look for god in are the details to open our hearts and let god abide are we ready to unmute in the words of bread by coming and give god the praise and thanks he's doing i'm ready to go all in for the lord and the spiritual entity this afternoon it's still been called man's worship it's time to experience the lord please pray for me as i pray for you amen amen cecil yes yes i'm ready i'm ready i'm ready to worship the lord and spirit and truth and now are ready to begin our worship service our worship leader for this morning will be elder [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] is keep the sabbath day to sanctify it as the lord thy god hath commanded thee six days thou shall later and do all thy work but the seventh day is the sabbath of the lord thy god in it thou shalt not do any work thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thine man servant nor thy mainservant nor by an ox nor thine ass nor any of that cattle nor thy stranger that is within thy gates that thy man servant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou and remember that thou was a servant in the land of egypt and that the lord thy god brought thee out since through a mighty hand and by a outstretched arm therefore the lord thy god commanded thee to keep the sabbath day thus it is the reading of the scriptures ah [Music] is man [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] my god [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] peace [Music] [Music] is [Music] amen what a precious moment i know there is no god beside me on this sabbath day this last day of the feast of the lord's passover our sermon will be delivered by evangelists at large james parker of alexandria virginia thank you sir giving all praises to the god of our salvation as we sing in the negro national anthem he is the god of our weary years and she is the god of our silent tears yet he is also the god who promised in isaiah 58 if thou turn thy foot away from the sabbath from doing thine own pleasures on my holy day and call the sabbath a delight honorable and of the holy of the lord honorable and honor him not doing not own ways nor finding thine own pleasure nor speaking thine own words then shalt thou delight thyself in the lord and i will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth and feed thee with the heritage of jacob thy father for the mouth of the lord has spoken it to the man of god chief rabbi philip e mcneil grand father abraham once again our leader uh has led us through a spiritual experience with constant praise to the holy one of israel a passover that soothes our longing to physically be together with the unmistakable and undeniable presence of the spirit of the almighty god i'm recognizing the ministerial body the officers and members of this great congregation and all those who took time on god's seventh day sabbath to share in this holy moment i thank elder keeling for reading the scripture and as we prepare to walk and not faint in the spirit of the lord and in the power of his might we will drop our anchor in deuteronomy chapter 5 and verse 15 and remember that thou was a servant in the land of egypt and that the lord thy god brought thee out fence through a mighty hand and by a stretch down over them therefore the lord thy god commanded thee to keep the sabbath day remember the lord brought you out deuteronomy uh literally means uh uh the repetition of the law in greek or the repeated law in hebrew and in chapter five that is exactly what moses does uh he repeats the law the the ten commandments god delivered to him on two tablets of stone on mount sinai uh and after he reprises the fourth commandment uh remember the sabbath day to keep it holy moses takes an interesting turn and puts a pen in his speech and he hits the pause button and says remember the lord thy god brought you out it is as if moses was reflecting on all that god had done for him how he was supposed to be killed at birth yet his sister put him uh uh in the river and and the princess identified him for rescue only to miraculously be put back in the hands of his own mother to be raised in infancy how he went from being a prince of egypt to being pursued as a murderer after he saw an egyptian uh uh getting the best of a hebrew and and so he he he killed him he buried him in the sand and then the next day he saw two hebrews fighting and and he tried to break that up and one of them said oh so you're going to kill us like you did the youth the dude yesterday and then moses said it's time for me to bounce and so uh then uh uh he fled from egypt he met and married zipporah he had two sons but zipporah was not the only one he met uh while he was with jethro the piece the the priest of minion because he also met god he met god on the back side of mount horin and he met him in a bush that was burning but yet was not consumed and so then he returned to the country where he was still featured on egypt's most wanted and he returned not as a fugitive prince seeking forgiveness but he returned to the prophet telling pharaoh i am that i am has sent me let my people go that they may serve me and moses recalled the ten plagues that it took for pharaoh to surrender only to change his mind and seemingly trapped moses and the children of israel at the banks of the red sea moses remember how he had no choice but to wait on the lord he stood still and then he saw the salvation of god the sea party they crossed over on dry land and as we read in our worship service god closed the sea and engulfed their enemies and their pursuers in the depth and then god led them through moses remember the pillar of crown by day and the pillar of fire by night and now after receiving god's commandments uh here they are preparing for the last leg of the journey into the promised land remember the lord brought you out and i'm sure moses wanted the children of israel to remember what god had done for them to do how they had been in slavery for 430 years working every single day for free uh how they were forced to make bricks in the heat of the day sometimes making bricks without the straw that lengthened them and when their kids got mad they were beaten first and questioned second uh but god raised up a prophet from among them and after all these years god was about to be good on his promise that he gave to his father abraham and moved them into the land of canaan even when the children of israel were in the wilderness god showed up uh he quenched their first with water from a rock and he fed them with manna falling down from heaven and so now this god had given these former captives a sabbath a day of rest a day where their only assignment was to give praise to the one that the lord brought you out uh george santiana said those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it and i'm sure i'm not the only one in this congregation that remembers rabbi j.u august crowley jr saying it's a sad thing to have an experience but not get the lesson that's why sometimes it's good to remember our bondage experience our jewish brothers and sisters they remember the concentration camps of auschwitz our japanese brothers and sisters they remember when sunny california became a place of bondage as the internment camps were set up during world war ii the apartheid system in south africa made the cradle of civilization a place of racial bondage transatlantic slave trade it hit the west indies and it hit here in america the so-called land of the free and the home of the brave but for our foreparents it was a place of bondage and right now still here in america we are fighting to preserve the right to vote in this democracy because there are some that want to put us back into bondage but we have already learned the lesson that in every age the lord has been out of hope he rescues us from enemies who seek to destroy us these experiences remind us that god rescued us when no one else could or no one else would remember the lord brought you out sometimes we kind of fake the funk and and we like to make pretend that we've never had any tough times or or any bondage experiences but for most of us my brothers and sisters that's simply not true i mean i eat three meals a day now but but i remember a summer in college where i survived i survived for a couple of months on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and and i washed them down with pre-mixed kool-aid i remember if you want to talk about fronting i remember uh early in my career before i had a corporate car and after i had knocked my own out i remember walking through midway airport in chicago i had on the suit and a tie but i was broke as a joke and i wasn't hungry saints i was hungry and i spied with my little wife an unopened pack of nature valley granola bars in a telephone cubicle and when i ate it it tasted like feast day because i was definitely breaking the fast and i remember going back to that same airport about a year or so later and i went into the shop and i bought another granola bar i left it at that same cubicle just in case somebody else was walking in the same shoes that i had been in i don't remember these things that make myself feel bad these memories remind me that i didn't just start trusting god god has been my constant companion and he has always made a way somehow and those are my experiences but i'm sure you have your own your hospital bed your coveted battle your i just got robbed you're i got stopped for driving while black you're my heart is broken you're i have no job but a bunch of mouths to feed your i lost a loved one and it's hard to swing my feet out of the bed in the morning your lord i believe but help thou my unbelief but through it all through it all we waited on god so i can appreciate where i am because i remember where i had been and i can say without a doubt it was god it was god it was god who brought me out remember the lord god brought you out moses said remember thou was a servant in the land of egypt a servant is what you were it is not who you are my wife always says prophet william s crowdy was in slavery but he was not a slave and i feel what she's saying because the prophet was not defined by being born black in maryland during the time of slavery no he was defined by something much greater as recorded in jeremiah chapter one and verse five before i formed thee in the belly i knew thee and before thou camest forth out of the womb i ordained thee a prophet unto the nations we should not allow ourselves to be defined by our circumstances and what we have done in the past should never stop us from being our better sales right now as a matter of fact we can declare right now this sabbath i'm going to live within the framework and i'm going to live so my god can use me now listen i know that uh people are always going to try to dangle our past in front of us as if we were defined by the choices of our past for the rest of our natural lives on the strict slide they will mention when you spent time in jail uh under their breath uh they'll make a comment about your substance abuse uh on the sneak tip uh uh they'll tell a story about when you were at your lowest uh and smile like it's funny but my brothers and sisters we all have sinned and come short of the glory of god fact so it may grind my at some time refuse to let anyone bind me to what god has liberated me from listen there is no shame in being a recovering alcoholic or a recovering addict you had the courage to embrace those swellings over alcohol and drugs yet you recognize that there was a power greater than you that could restore you to sanity you were brave enough to get professional help to get yourself back on the track that god had predicted for your life and there ain't no shame in that uh there's no shame in being bold enough to free yourself from domestic violence the shame is when someone feels like they have a right to put their hands on you uh what to abuse you physically verbally or emotionally for any reason or for no reason at all my mother told me if you get so upset with someone that you even think about being physical get away from them stay away from them and learn how to control yourself because there ain't no shame in that and my brothers and sisters the days are over for us to accept the body scheming of our sisters and making them think it's their fault when a man doesn't know how to act appropriately or respectfully and we cannot feed into the dysfunctional queries of oh well well what were you wearing and were you smiling and what did you say no matter what a person wears they never give up their right to say no and the victim should never be treated as a perpetrator listen i'm ashamed for my past descriptions but they are in the past and that's where they're going to stay in the past so my brothers and sisters no matter what your past when god brings you out don't carry that shame don't carry that guilt don't carry that label into your future with your head up and your shoulders back you can say i was a servant in my ego but i am a soldier in the army of the living god remember the lord brought you out and when we get out let us remember there's others still in a state of bondage when we sit down to eat dinner with our children remember and remind them that according to the world counts a child dies on this planet from hunger every 10 seconds and savethechildren.org reports that in the united states the so-called wealthiest country on earth one in five families don't have enough to eat and black and hispanic children are twice as likely to go hungry remember remember some people are still in a state of bondage remember that people often contemplate suicide because they feel shut off from a society that rejects who they are that discourages them from being authentic and dedicates them into the shadows society does it families do it and yes churches we do it too you know organized religion has earned a reputation and sometimes justifiably so a reputation of being more concerned about stuffing money in their coffers than the people that give it or the community that needs it and i agree with president biden when he said don't tell me what you value show me your budget and i'll tell you what you got and you know and this is real talk there are a lot of people that don't go to anybody's house of worship but they don't have a problem with god they don't have a problem with god's church and they don't have a problem with god's anointing what they have a problem with is how they were treated when they were in church and they refused to reduce themselves to accept it anymore so they are waiting on the lord until god's people learn how to treat people oh but my brothers and sisters we must be in our dna to be different i don't believe properly ms crowley saw people as something to fix or someone to control her or people to manipulate the prophet no he accepted people as they were and he introduced them to a god who would make them what he god would have them to be and i know the prophets he go in check because he said thus saith the lord god not elder crowdy or any other man or minister but thus saith the lord god who is supreme above all and in all and so because we have a desire to be closer to this god moses said what a blessing that god gave us this stop dr stephen covey wrote highly effective people sharpen the song and the sabbath saints the sabbath sharpens our spiritual song in his book that's happened abraham joshua heschel said shalom with its own holiness we ended up simply a day but an atmosphere so when i end this week by keeping god's sabbath i am creating an atmosphere to enter into next week in such a way that i will be a natural recipient of god's blessings when i try of his mercy when i fail and her grace when i've done the best that i can whatever next week brings i know i'm not facing it alone because i'm going in with the lord who brought me out and and i gotta tell you when when jesus said take no fault for tomorrow i don't believe he was saying don't plan for tomorrow listen i wish that i had started putting money away from my retirement when i was in my 20s and my 30s i wish i had taken every time before there's nothing wrong with planning but i believe that jesus was telling us the god that brought you out yesterday that's the same god with you right now you don't have to check for him because that same god is gonna be with you tomorrow remember the lord brought you out so whenever you think about what you've been through who you used to be and who you want to be remember who brought you out moses said god brought you out through a mighty hand and a stretched down arm and even though god cannot be contained in a hand or an arm moses uses this anthropomorphic phrase just to tell us how great god is with almighty uh stronger than the group of addiction that can reach you wherever you are with a mighty hand greater than the depth of depression and grief and with a stretched out offer ready to throw out the lifeboat whenever drifting away with a mighty hand more forceful than racism sexism classism or any other ism designed to hold god's people down and a stretched out offer that blessed you as only god had a mighty hand to deliver us from the grasp of our pirates a stretch down honor to avenge us of all our oppressors a mighty hate to hold on to the faithful that keeps faith with those that sleep in the dust a mighty hand to bless our going out and a stretched alarm to bless our coming in when we have gone as far as we can go even when we feel like giving up when everyone has counted us out that's when our god steps in because he giveth power to the faith and to them that have no fight he increases strength even the youth shall faint and be weary and the young man shall utterly fall but they that wait they shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings of eagles walk run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faith and when we reach our holy destination remember the lord brought you out house of israel please pray for me [Music] we were like them that dream and our mouths were filled with laughter and our toys [Music] laughter [Music] unto the lord [Music] brothers and sisters i'm thanking the lord for this beautiful service that we have had on this beautiful sabbath day this this last day of the feast of the lord's passover thanking the lord for all of the thanking the lord for all of the services that we have had beginning eight days ago and thanking the lord for evangelist james parker uh putting a capstone uh putting the summary of the reason that we have been going through these worship services giving us the central reason for it and that is that we should remember that it was the lord who brought us out if we do nothing else if we remember nothing else from what has transpired these eight days you remember eventually said largest sermon it was the lord that brought you out and since he brought you out then as an advantage at large made so clear he can and he will bring you out again thank you evans that was that was that was soul stirring given in your in your fiery in your usual fiery manner but this is something this is something to get excited about the lord has been good to us for bringing us out bringing us to this point bringing our forefathers to this point and surely and we we're going through some things now but surely surely the lord will bring us out again i want to take this opportunity to thank adventist large parker and to thank all of the participants down through the down through this eight day journey who have preached who have sung who have prayed who have worshiped the lord in spirit and in truth and made this truly truly a religious experience i will never forget this passover i'm sure you i'm i'm looking at some of the participants in today's program who helped us to to bring this this this program to a to a to a level to a height of spiritual awareness and a praise and thanks to our god and as as as i'm remembering i i can't help remembering our former leader rabbi j.u august crowley jr as they were singing one of his favorite songs well my mother and my father for safety i couldn't help a moment of of sweet sorrow thinking about our leader thinking about the life he led and think about his leading this congregation to the heights that he led it thank i'm thanking the lord for sending us rabbi j you august crowded junior we're going to mark i believe it's the fifth anniversary of his passing uh a week a week from the day a week from the day so thank you lord for this blessed memory of our former leader now i'm getting ready to bring this this service to to a close hate to bring it to a close i'm enjoying myself so much parting is such such sweet sorrow there are some some some items that we normally attend to on the last day of the passover and one of them is that we we normally we normally make an announcement of some appointment that that i will be making um i am appointing elder jason kelly of alexandria virginia and saint latoya waddell of atlanta georgia to be the co-chairs of the youth committee of our congregation and they are succeeding elder lance hawkins who served in that capacity faithfully and well for several years give our thanks to ella hawkins and welcome elder kelly and saint waddell as co-chairs of the youth committee of our congregation uh some appointments for the western district of our congregation i am appointing cara jeffries naris to be the assistant choir secretary for the western district saint carol jeffrey norris of cleveland ohio uh thank cara assisted sister elder diana byrd for sometimes she comes highly recommended for this position i am appointing saint marvin hendricks of rochester new york to be the choir treasurer of the western district of our congregation the hendrix served as an understudy to sancti hurt for many years and this final appointment i've already made earlier by a slip of the tongue i am appointing sister elder angela tune to be the local pastor of 10th tabernacle bethel miami florida i think i think i called her the local pastor when i when i introduced her but doing a very fine job as interim local pastor now it's time for us to it's time for us to step up mr elder and the sister elder i i i'll tell you publicly it's not the last step up that you're gonna have this this is not the last step up for you so so get you ready to do the large work in miami florida thanking the god of our salvation for giving us these talented individuals who will help us to carry on the work of the lord in these various cities i want to take the opportunity to thank all the members of our congregation who have been doing such a great job of pulling the tabernacles together looking after the elderly looking after people in need feeding the hungry this this pandemic has brought out some of the best some of the best in the people of our congregation oh i'm happy today i'm a little tired as you probably can tell i'm a little tired but i'm happy i'm happy because i have received the blessing of the well first of all the blessing of the divinely instituted new year what a happy new year now you know i'm tired but that but but to receive but but but it's a blessing to have been given by divine utterance this this new year and it was given to us in exodus 12. this is the new year for you and having received this blessing i proceeded to obey memorially of god's next command namely to draw out a land according to your family and sacrifice it and eat it in a sacrificial meal and eat it with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs in preparation and in anticipation of the passover and we did it of course memorably but our forefathers did it in actuality but as high priest of this congregation i officiated over another sacrifice a spiritual sacrifice and that's what i mean we offered up in this international setting in this international tabernacle if you will sacrifices of joy to the holy one of israel what sacrifices sacrifices of obedience of trust of hope of faith of the burning desire to do god's will we did this in the hope and the anticipation of receiving another kind of a passover a path over liberating us from the many and sundry bondages and entanglements that plague us all and that keeps us from serving the god of our salvation in spirit and in truth then we offered up another sacrifice sacrificed in preparation for and in conjunction with the feast of unleavened bread hoping that having been passed over that we would make our exodus from those bondages and those entanglements that keep us from serving the god of our salvation we were instructed and we did the best we could we were instructed to have a holy convocation on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread and we did that and we were instructed to have a holy convocation on the seventh day of the feast of eleven bread and we're in the process of doing that right now we have had brothers and sisters a marvelous and soul's soul-stirring in inspirational past over memorial virtual though it was carrying out the dictates of god's commandment and we did it to the best of our ability we had a grand old time i don't know about you but i had a grand whole time doing this passover even though i wasn't in the sanctuary prancing and singing as we do i had a grand old time and we did it and the lord made it so that we did it in the throes of the worst pandemic the world has ever known but this is not surprising when you consider the moaning and the groaning of the prophet jeremiah as he laments the plight of the israelites under babylonian captivity and and you'll find an expression of his moaning and groaning in the book of lamentations all all five chapters in the book of lamentation art are replete with expressions of grief sorrow and misery weeping and wailing because of the babylonian captivity and all over that book that that this dark shadow of misery except for one ray of light that occurs in the third chapter of the book of lamentations and in that third chapter around verse 21 after moaning and groaning and grieving the prophet jeremiah says in effect yet have i hope if i call the following to mind and that's my interpretation he says yet yet there's there's a reason for hope if if i think about the following verse 22 it is of the lord's mercies that we are not consumed they're in bondage they're having the difficulty but it is of the lord's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not his compassions are new every morning great is thy faithfulness and in verse 25 which is appropriate for the theme of our passover verse 25 says the lord is good unto them that wait for him good for them that wait for him and verse 26 says it is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the lord and skipping on down to verse 31 jeremiah says for the lord will not cast off forever but though he caused grief yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies so so within the the the bondage situation of of his day he found a a ray of light he found a reason a reason to wait it out and so it is with us brothers and sisters with this pandemic this pandemic has been and is and is the source of so much grief and suffering we've lost too many we've suffered too much devastation and deprivation in in many areas but there have been some rays of light in our quote bondage dilemma one of the most important rays of light is is the following can i be heard it is the following because of this pandemic and this is my honest opinion because of this pandemic we ousted one of the worst presidents this country has ever had because of this pandemic we experienced a complete overturn of the congressional government of this pandemic we just got past here recently that massive stimulus relief package that's going to bring that's going to bless so so many souls who have suffered during this pandemic we we now have a serious effort to eliminate the virus and the other good things that may come out as time goes on they're they're put there's potential legislation for other packages infrastructure et cetera it's going to be a blessing to millions through it all we have retained our homeland canaan belleville virginia the temple is still standing i saw it this morning as i drove in our tabernacles are still intact because of this pandemic there has been a great a greater love generated among the members of our congregation we have developed the beginnings of a powerful technological medium through which we can carry the gospel of god given to us by profitability throughout the world so there that so so there is there are rays of light that we can point to and i know you can point to some we i've see i've seen miraculous healings that have gone on during this pandemic the lord has been good during this pandemic and i believe that the congregation is i hate to say it i believe the congregation is is a much better congregation because of this pandemic now is this a a temporary a non temporary aberration is it going to be business as usual when we finally get together after the pandemic well time will tell but i hope that you and i will use this this period of waiting to strengthen our faith to become more holy to come more dedicated to god's god's law and god's will to love our brothers and sisters more and i i i don't know but i can i can give you my my usual formula i give you my usual formula to assist you in bringing this about you know my you you know my usual formula is well i i'll get i'll give it to you again let me find it here i'll give you my usual formula this is the mcniel for me for the well-being of the house of israel and well-being of the members of our congregation number one pick up that bible get into the word of god this word of god is a lamp until your feet and a light unto your path use it as your god it will help you to lead a clean courageous and strong life this bible can bring a change in your life if you will brush it off dust it often let it be your guide in the days ahead number two get yourself a prayer life learn how to pray even morning at noon said the psalmist will i pray and cry out and he will hear my voice prayer strengthens you for the battles that you must fight every day prayer must be constantly on your lips and in your heart prayer is your spiritual breath number three strive for holiness and sanctification in your daily life the scripture commands us be ye holy as the lord your god is holy let your life be separated consecrated sanctified set apart from the world for what purpose for the purpose of godly living and number four finally i'm asking you to do something namely engage in earnest giving men and women are at their best when they reach outside of their selfish interests and give their time and energy and substance to causes greater than themselves i guarantee you if you pursue these these four formula items you will be a better person a more loving person a more godly person and our congregation will be the better for it and i'll now give you my end of the passover request i've given it to you before number one keep god's seven-day sabbath pray three times a day study the word of god give the lord his tithes help the poor and needy inside and outside of our congregation build up sweet canaan land this gift that god gave to us through his servant prophet williamstown is crowley build up your local tabernacle love the lord your god with all your heart and for god's sake love ye one another in the words the parting words of our prophet so as we if if we were in the if we were in the sanctuary we would we would sing something like as the evening sun goes down you don't worry about it it's fine they'll have to they'll have to take my my rough version but remember those sweet moments that we that we we've had during these passover celebrations when we came to this part of the service it was it was it was rather sad because we were now getting ready to to depart from one another oh okay all right [Music] and i don't care [Music] [Applause] set me free [Music] my my way baby and i don't care [Music] [Music] i know [Music] [Music] please remember me [Applause] holy remember me remember me is [Applause] oh [Music] how do my way baby [Music] [Music] [Music] for this i pray [Music] that was that was sweet and why are you remembering me and remembering each other in the words of evangelic parker remember that it was the lord that brought you out so that you could enjoy these beautiful services it was the law that brought you out and give him the praise and the glory and adoration that is due to his holy name every day so we're thanking the lord for for this beautiful service i i can't put into words the joy that i have in my heart i will i will say this i want you still to be careful with this covet 19 virus this this thing is not over yet and those of you who are able to do it i want you to get that vaccination i've been talking to my my medical advisory team talking about the the prospect of our going back into the tabernacles one of these days and what i'm hoping is that all of our members who who can do it you know by the orders of their their physicians who can do it will get vaccinated before we go back into the go back into the cabinet so be careful still even after you get vaccinated wear your masks keep that keep that distance between you and other people and the cdc has come out with rules which will permit a limited amount of interaction let's follow those rules and i'm working closely with the medical team to give me good medical advice from how we will proceed when we go back into our tablets so as we as we get ready to come down from this from this mountain and in this pilgrimage i'm asking the law to let this be a good year for the house of israel let our members heavenly father enjoy good health and strength bless us each and every one of us with a good measure of peace and prosperity in our lives give us the desire and the ability to achieve a heightened spirituality in our daily worship that's that's vital for your physical and spiritual and emotional health and to be of greater benefit to the communities in which we live i'm asking lord to help us to acquire the wherewithal to support and maintain our homeland here in canaan land heavenly father relieved the pain and the suffering attendant to the coronavirus pandemic and bless us to see the end of this disease have mercy the end of this disease so that we may restore a measure of normality in our daily lives and when the lord grants us this favor we will give the lord the glory and bless his holy name to the best of our ability all these blessings heavenly father we ask in thy name and for thy sake amen and now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy the only wise god our savior be glory and majesty dominion and power both now and ever amen and [Music] his glory [Music] the [Music] [Music] ever oh [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] uh [Music] and now as high priest of this congregation i declare that this feast of the lost passover or 2021 to be concluded you have a replica the lord bless thee and keep thee the lord make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee the lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace the lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee a good a good year a year of good health a year of peace and a year of prosperity dear god give us a year where we will see the end of this pandemic virus lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee all of these blessings shalom peace be unto thee and so be it you
