foreign hello ladies and gentlemen today we have a Titan RTX Titan rgx is basically 2080 TI made by Nvidia with an enclosed cooling system which is bad with Samsung memory which is good but there's more bad than good so um customer stated something along the lines of not working so let's see what's not working Okay so what am I seeing right now what I'm seeing is that this card had been worked on before we've got pads we have memory it had been soldered um Mass had been left around so and we also see that the pads were not contacting this particular chip these three actually wasn't wasn't making a good contact for quite a while so who knows maybe that's the reason why maybe that's the reason why it broke I do not know so I'm guessing we're gonna have memory problems but I will not know until we actually run the test so let's take measurements see what we find nothing in 12. nothing in three this one here is probably 12. this one here is probably 1.8 I don't know that's probably PEX I'm not getting any shirt circuits anywhere okay oh we have a short uh wait is that memory let me see no that's not memory so the memory is actually 14 so the memory is here these first two three okay nope just three so three phases for the memory we are okay to power on the card and see what kind of voltage are we gonna get so we're gonna pull out whip out our super Chester Mega Pro maybe you can uh whoopsie whoopsie one sec yes okay we're back the lights are back on okay this tester super Chester Mega Pro XL you can probably purchase it on Northridge fixes website for an astronomical price so this forty dollar thing could probably cost you 400. if you go there if you go on eBay make yourself what am I doing I want to see what kind of voltage what kind of amperage does this card draw 1.7 amps that looks perfectly fine uh my guess is we have all the voltages so we can check if we see if we have memory voltage see we have a good memory voltage which means we probably have everything else I'm not even going to bother testing but what I will bother testing just to be safe I'm going to check every phase very quickly I'm not gonna show you every single one of them I'm just gonna quickly look make sure that I have every face generating pulses and that they are all the same except for memory those pulses are wider okay so the core looks fine I suppose we can plug it in see what we get and by plugin I mean we going to plug it in into a computer all right so I thought I would upgrade myself buying these cables I'm going to show you what they look like this this stuff premium premium I doubt that so this brand is B I don't know I can't read that anyway they're garbage 45 centimeters long so they say and by garbage I mean they don't fit very well they fit the very snug I mean if you want it to fit snug like super snug to a point where you can't even remove them then that's probably okay but for me I don't like it it's too it's too hard it's too hard to get it off so let's put place the heater on plug in the HDMI double check all the wiring and let's power it on and see what it does and I will switch on to memory testing just in case so that way we can do a memory test right away looks like we had a healthy beep we have a picture that's good let's boot into generic flash drive where the memory testing software is located hopefully it'll be just as simple as a few artifacts here and there yep right there we are already seeing a few artifacts here and there I wonder why is that maybe because the memories weren't cool properly or maybe because someone had been here before and did not do a good job okay let's go ahead and read the report real quick all right so there's my report uh primary primary is complaining about B1 makes perfect sense let's look at the nvmt B1 weird numbers everything else is looking the same so yeah B1 is all we have to replace today good it's gonna be easy repair days maybe it won't go as smooth as you would expect never know one might say man I hope something goes terribly wrong so that he would have to fix that and show us how to do it trust me I do not want that it's a big time consuming process so let's see uh which one did I say I said B1 correct okay so the B1 we we already we all know the alphabet and we all know one two three four so A1 a0 B1 this guy okay let's get this guy off the board using the uh sexy Mega triple digit dual temperature monitoring slimmed shrinked um pump upgraded I don't even know what to call this thing this thing is not what it used to be this is a completely different machine ever since I laid my hands on it it's like beyond recognition I don't like anything I buy I just have this urge to to modify it to fix it because I find all sorts of flaws with it even with my own stuff like my own design my own way of holding this PCB under the heater see like it's rock solid even with that I find imperfections so who cares let's bring this sucker up to temp and uh [Music] get that chip replaced hopefully without a without too much blood um I'm not really sure I have to replace well I might okay we'll see we'll uh we'll investigate that chip after we remove that okay we'll be right back all right the card is getting hot starts to smell a little funky in the room of all that questionable origin flux that we have here on the board probably uh cane sugar or something put that chip off the board all right and my guess is um I don't even have to guess let me see hold on a second [Music] I'm gonna clean this up real quick and then I'll show you what my guess is not not much of a guess rather uh a statement because when they're lift it the chip let me see if I can zoom in so maybe you can see a little better I immediately noticed pads that had no contact on them see see some of these pads had no balls attached to it see it's supposed to look like this but they didn't so I thought to myself why not either a bad solder joint or someone did not put balls on that chip to begin with clean that up real quick something like that and what I was going to show you the chip itself right there we got a ton of missing pads how in the world they why not so much how about why why they decided solder this chip back on the board that is beyond me so the chip that I need is k4z8 f 325 BC let me look oh it's a BM f325 BM I'm gonna go look at my chart real quick so according to this to my chart here the k4z AF 325bm hc14 is a two gigabyte chip now I wonder if the rest of these chips are the same I cannot really see it very well BM okay so this is that means that we got one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve 24 gigabyte of memory and so the only way that we can deal with this problem is that if I do not have this exact chip in stock then I have to go the next one down which is going to be faster it's going to be faster but I think I have some yes [Music] I have just a few that's good [Music] [Music] I got this one chip here it's already have balls on it hopefully can't really see it from here BM h16 it's gonna be faster chip it will not affect performance by any means you can only do faster chip you cannot put slower chip so only faster you're either same or faster put in a slower chip that's slower than the rest of them it won't work I don't know the exact ratio maybe you guys know let me know in the comment section below what is the ratio between slow and the fast chips can I have 51 percent can I have 49 let's say 51 percent of the slow chips and then 49 of the fast ones would it work you know can I replace one third of it what what is the limit because I've done this um probably three four chips that would go on the board with the uh ddr6x on Micron and it would work just fine but I don't know what what is the limit is there a limit how many can I put on before it stops working I don't know maybe maybe uh at some point I will do like half the chips and then see if that works oh no who cares okay I do not like the way this chip had settled I'm gonna have to redo it come on it doesn't want to come out why can't I get this chip removed there we go huh I don't know why we had a problem with this chip seemed like it just kind of went sideways so not sure why that is [Music] that never happens right [Music] your hands never Shake [Music] oh boy all right let's put some balls on this thing actually you know what I'm gonna do another chip that one just doesn't look right something about it I don't know just the way it looked at me the way it's staring into my soul can't really name it just don't like it okay that looks good all right evacuation and that ladies and gentlemen is the reason why they call flux a no clean flux there's hardly anything left that needs to be cleaned but the only reason why it worked is because I am a professional reballer if you need your chip Revolt your memory revolved maybe your balls revolved I'm Your Man though that last part isn't true I don't want to be dealing with nobody's balls other than my own and the ones that I reball on the gpus all the time okay let's bring back our preheated hopefully still hot and why wouldn't it plug it in apply some flux oh we're about 80 degrees I think we are okay see let's see if this chip is any good and yes I use donor chips from other cards that I get either donated or I have some leftover some I bought from China a while back it just comes from all over the place everywhere I could get him and no they're not brand new if they would be brand new their price would probably double if not triple so my prices are very low in comparison to other people out there in this business and I don't mind I have a full-time job so I can I can afford to give you guys a favor so let's solder this chip on and we will start the evacuator that's it so I'm gonna have to let it cool down and then we'll take it from there under their beauty of my preheater modification is that I can flip the board out of the way when I'm done it'll cool much faster that way okay so as you probably already know once would do that kind of work we have to check resistances on two rails memory and 1.8 I believe this is 1.8 there's nothing there here in the memory 13 ohms so we're good yep that's PEX okay now let's boot this thing one more time and see if we get any more memory related errors hopefully they are gone and if they are I will proceed with cleaning this board so that it doesn't look like garbage all right am I missing anything no I don't think so oh yeah the drive with the testing software goes in and Bam one beep that's a healthy sign let's go into the boot menu generic flash disk loading loading mats mods and mats all in one package let's see if we get anything funny on the screen see artifacts are gone that's good we're probably gonna get it passed this time and um I'll show you something interesting in just a second all right let's go back to let's go back to the desktop and look at the report so if you look at the primary report no errors obviously but if we look at the mvmt oh nothing I actually expected to see a little bit of a difference in the in in the values for the B1 versus the uh the rest of the chips but we don't so everything's looking beautiful even better than I thought normally yeah because normally when you put a little faster chip that's not identical to the rest of them for whatever reason they start to give um even but different values in the NVM key reports maybe that isn't the case with Samsung memory I don't know to be honest I did have I did have seen it I have seen it with micron Samsung isn't very common so all right I'm gonna have to go and give this thing a bath so that it looks nice and clean anyway I'll go clean that up and I'll be right back so this is before and after mucho mucho batter all right so let's put this thing back together somehow somehow and the memory I don't like these memory pads maybe I can move them around a little bit so that they are not as squished and so that they would squish naturally once we apply pressure on them I think that should probably do it and we will confirm that we will confirm that by looking at the footprint okay so let's place that on and Press On and lift off do we have an imprint I do see I do see an imprint but not a whole lot so I don't trust this I'm going to scrape that away and throw it away now I wonder what thickness pad do I need let's see if I can narrow it down looks like a one millimeter so let's see let's put in a one millimeter and see I gotta clear out all this garbage first something like that one millimeter pad coming up one millimeter okay let's see what we have in this package oh we have just enough perfect just enough all right let's place that there actually you know what I'm gonna place it the other way around so I can see the imprint of the memory chip a lot better foreign oh yeah oh yeah it's right there okay nice nice imprint of the chips right there you can see him hopefully you can see him yes that's exactly what I want to see so looks like this pad didn't go anywhere we can put it here oh actually wait a minute that we have there I don't know where this went this literally has no place so must have been misplaced I mean I can put it there I don't know if it's gonna contact anything in there no idea whatever throw it away I don't know where it goes all I know is that I need to apply some thermal paste it doesn't have to be pretty it just has to represent the X whatever the X represents and connect the fan right there and slowly and gently put everything back together all right that's enough for the assembly I'm not going to assemble the whole thing because that's enough to test it and it will serve as a heat the heat will dissipate a lot faster so let's go ahead and plug this in straight into the motherboard almost so that way we can do a full stress test HDMI and off we go okay so I'm gonna wait for the drivers to load and then I'll speed up the rest of the video there we have it we've been running this thing for a little while now and if you look at the temperatures they are nearly identical as the ones that I have recorded previously you can see right there the temperatures are roughly 70 on the core 85 on the hot spot and the memory is 77. in in here we have 77 78 on memory 70 on the core 85 on the hot spot using the exact same configuration as before so everything is looking good all I gotta do now is to run heaven or Valley and just to make sure that there are no artifacts of any sort which I don't think there will be and conclude this repair and uh hopefully hopefully you'll be happy this time I don't know who you took this card to repair before clearly it wasn't me though I don't think it was me because otherwise that would be there would not be that many screw-ups it's not to say that there won't be any screw-ups because I'm still a human and I do screw up sometimes but at the very least not as bad I mean come on like four rip pads what did you expect why did you even put it in there with four ripped pads that is beyond me and with that said I hope you guys have learned something in from this video if you did please hit me with the like button with the subscription for more stuff for more repairs let me know if you like this type of content or would you rather prefer to get you know the entertaining version of it which takes a while to make so it's all for you and a little bit for me as well to be honest because you know YouTube does pay me for doing this not exactly a million dollars but it's enough not to pay for gas and for food so I'm not gonna be starving here anytime soon I don't think in any case we're done here I'll put in the last set of screws and there's nothing else to see here so goodbye
