Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas - Italy, Greece & Turkey Cruise in depth - Ship Tour July 2022

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hi i'm lainey melnick with steve vacations this week i am in greece on the beautiful royal caribbean odyssey of the seas [Music] so i'm meeting up with the rest of the family and we have transferred to cevitavecchia where the port is so i need to find where lufthansa landed uh and go to their baggage claim since i don't have any baggage i have to find passport control i'm assuming so you can see there are atms right here that's the easiest way for you to get some euros when you get here just use your atm card hey i'm just following the crowd now there are elevators and escalators they don't move as fast as i do okay so this is where you pick up your bags that baggage claim is an atm to get some euros my family's bags are coming right here so i arranged my family's flights to get here within 10 minutes of my flight theirs was 20 minutes delayed and i we have one transfer to take us to the port so i said that they should meet us at my family's baggage claim and the strange thing is that both of my flights from bordeaux and their flight from frankfurt is all using the same baggage claim so i just have to sit here and wait for them so they have instructions for how to do the trains from here buses taxis so when you get out here all these wonderful people are waiting for you and you have to find your name or the right the right cruise line and of course none of them are mine hold on no hey our driver is here thank you all right we're in rome when in rome this was a really long walk to try to get to this private van to pick us up so i'm not sure if there's a better way to do it but this was not very convenient for people who want a private transfer it is a nice big fan for all of us to fit in see it is nice all right so i'm here now with our private driver oh i can always set you up with a private transfer see our ship the best one right there [Music] and there is the odyssey of the huge ship coming from 150 passengers to this this is genuinely important this is completely different it's the viking sky next to us here is the royal caribbean odyssey of the seas they're home for the next week they have a new terminal here it's gorgeous welcome to royal caribbean odyssey of the seas the melma clan is ready for cruising we have the check-in lines up here okay if you have your boarding pass like our wonderful family is all prepared you get to be in these short lines over here and you don't have to stand in these long lines okay so the check-in process is that you give them your passport the boarding pass covered card and your negative test results and they check you in we're almost ready to board there's wonderland where i want to have dinner it looks like they're already doing mustard stations we got on the elevator it took a while we're on deck 7 cabin 688 so it confused me because the deck is on the top so we're aft they gave us our key here they give one to each of us okay for hot we have this little balcony two chairs on a table and this is an obstructed view balcony so you can see it's not very obstructed but the lifeboats are below us they have a refrigerator a few drawers here there was a hairdryer if you didn't notice that plenty of space to unpack this couch turns into a bed there is one of these wardrobes on both sides so you've got hangers a safe and then you have two more drawers down here and of course under your bed is where you put your suitcase after you unpack and in this side oh this side is a full closet next to the bed you have electric um i don't see a usb only electric on one side and probably behind the bed so we usually bring a little extension cord this is the cabin's bathroom which is actually larger by kind of a lot to the one that i had on viking room is way larger than i had on viking i mean i i had very little space so this is going to be nice you had checked a bag with them um they're just kind of putting them out in the hallway for you to grab lobby okay we're just gonna walk down too that's where we came in wow this is the main dining and giovanni's table here for [Applause] [Music] italian you watch a video already yes now you can go and enjoy your videos thank you you want to get your package for alcohol or sodas there's a starbucks here you come out here to do that contest is to guess the weight to win so the first thing you should do is get your dining reservations if there is something special that you want and you if you haven't done it um on your app i got three dining specialty coupons which is one of the perch that i give some of my clients and so i just got us a table for 10 at wonderland so i'm so excited i love wonderland and i can't wait to share with my babies this is the regular dining i just wanted to check in and make sure that we have our table for ten all settings you can get certain drinks for free if you don't have the package it's crazy this line to get food this is a huge ship and there's like nowhere to get here you can get some ice cream out here there's a lime okay this is still kids allowed out in this area that we're heading towards the um solarium only 16 years and older my place it's still kind of loud back here but it's all adults a little less crazy party really good food in the solarium bistro and it's free free food and these nice little tubs i thought this girl was real she is not it's the solarium bistro it is closed for breakfast 11 to 3 for lunch and 5 30 to 9 dinner hold tight it's as easy as 1 2 3 but leave it behind and it's a twenty-five dollar fee so you um you show them your key and then do you have one and then you have to bring it back to the towel to uh tell people or else they're going to charge you 25 so there are no spots available there are some here though okay now i finally feel like i'm on vacation my people all right it's our 25th anniversary trip [Music] i love the solarium it's a lot cooler in here it's a little more quiet [Music] okay so many things to look for this week and this is ali my fabulous stadium attendant you want to come on board thank you i'm here to take care for all the guests for all the staterooms make sure they are happy on the vacation okay you'll make me very happy thank you for my first shower i realized that they only have this one soap and shampoo and it's not good for my hair so i requested a conditioner and a shampoo and he's going to bring it to me that's one of the wonderful things stateroom attendants do for you so if anything just doesn't seem right ask for it okay so we have a beautiful table of 10. right here thank you lovely you scan the qr code for your menu hello good evening my name is rahul i am from india along with my partner paul we're going to taking care of your dinner service for entire cruise thank you so much oh by the way my name is paul i'm from philippines nice meeting you guys thank you i have to say royal caribbean has made my day i spent a week in france and i could not get escargot and it was killing me and so here in rome i'm getting my escargot thank you royal it's my antipasto i can't wait to try the onion soup it looks really really yummy and the chicken sauce is in here so far how was your food how was your dinner delicious and how is the service how was your weather my team and my goal make sure this clues you will enjoy your planning experience we what he's making my first night on board totally different experience than i just got off about the river there's something about just walking in the evening breeze hearing the waves crashing next to you very relaxing but it is so crazy and loud and active here after being used to such a sedentary river cruise uh it's quite the culture shock but there's lots to do here my family is here and we're having fun really interesting look to this ship different than the other ones i've been on doing second dining always enjoy the art gallery i'm gonna book your next cruise you come here and just make sure you tell them that lainey malnick is your travel agent and they'll put me on you're booking so there's a cafe at 270 here they have breakfast here from 7 to 10 30 and then lunch from noon to 5. so this is 270. it's a really interesting venue here at the opposite side of the ship from the theater silent disco time okay [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] i don't care [Music] yes [Applause] oh [Music] i don't care okay [Applause] [Music] cafe promenade and they have some really yummy snacks available all the time and coffee [Music] i'm not hungry but i usually like this place my other favorite late night spa is sorrento's which has pizza which is great after the clubs [Music] this is perfect after club food of course there's the pub also [Music] [Applause] [Music] and it's the music hall [Music] oh [Music] good morning it is a day at sea on the odyssey of the seas with royal caribbean i'm not sure where we are but it's gorgeous it's beautiful i think uh let's see we're traveling south from rome towards greece so this could be the amalfi coast i'm really not sure we should uh no that doesn't make sense i think it would be on the other side of the ship so i don't know where we are it's a beautiful morning last night was crazy on board there's there's a lot of europeans here so it feels like a european culture a little bit more than an american boat would it's interesting because when i was on viking uh in france it was almost all americans and brits on board so it was a very american feel on board but this one which is a huge ship um has much more of a european feel more european uh people here lots of families and this is their vacation too for for them in europe so um it's it's a little different feel than going on royal caribbean back home in america or in the caribbean places where there is more of an american influence so last night was was crazy the silent disco was packed full of people uh those are by the way they're supposed to be 18 plus on uh the night clubs at night just so that you know the kids are not supposed to go there the age for alcohol consumption on board is 18 plus here although if you're under 21 you're still considered a minor on board the nightclub that goes it started at like 12 15 in the morning that was going until 130 or two or something and it was it was just packed full of people just like you would see in any nightclub uh on land so and then sydney and i went off and got some pizza at 1 30 in the morning which is my favorite late night thing to do here the pizza is fabulous i also love cafe promenade the little snacks there are really yummy so today's a sea day so sea days there's brunch yay i love brunch i slept late so i can go get some brunch i'm very excited i can't wait to see what they have so follow me today i'll uh show you all around the ship hopefully it's such a big ship i hope i can get through the whole thing on this video in eight days this is sicily and on the other side of the ship you'd be able to see that we are rounding the bottom toe of the boot around italy i had requested an actual shampoo and conditioner and this is what they brought me which is very nice but i wish they had it for everybody in their cabins i think most people don't know to ask okay so for dining on brunch day for sea day it's 9 00 a.m to 1 p.m and this is the lovely dining room it's just first come first serve so i'm gonna ask for our table for 10. this is a lovely table hey we have a brunch menu today [Music] you have a cheese roll so we'll do and we have lemon vanilla cinnamon slice of french burgers okay so that is my lux and bagel chicken for the ketchup that is my eggs benedict i asked for half eggs benedict with a bacon and a sausage additional this is the omelette okay it is time for my ship tour starting at the very top the elevator only goes to 15 i'm going to 16. it is a beautiful day royal caribbean odyssey of the seas is packed up here with people oh my god but it's a gorgeous day today beautiful ocean we're just past the tip of italy everything's happening i'm going to show you the ship today top to bottom you can see that it is a great way to spend a family vacation the odyssey of the season is one of the newer ships there's tons to do and i'm going to show you everything follow me around the ship today for your ship tour so i'm on deck 15 right now which is the highest that the elevator goes rent um these little cabanas they have some shade it is hard to find some spots here there are outdoor showers hot tubs the lime and the coconut bar so this is the north star the north star is available for free when you're in court days when it's a sea day it's 19 per person to go up in the north star so obviously it's a very popular activity as most of these activities are that cost money so you should book it as soon as possible on your app or book it before you get your event you look under rides and slides on the app the extended version is the one that is during the sea days [Music] so this is the teen area social 180. all right so this is where you do the bumper cars but it is now going to be open play like soccer and other activities going on here so we have a multi-purpose venue you can play in basketball soccer volleyball so you can do bumper cars in here so any game that is practically possible on land we can do it in here all right and so now it's time for free play it is and then we'll be having a couple of competitions as well we'll have dodgeball we'll have three on three we are gonna have volleyball so a lot of competitions happening every day all right thank you i ran into this is playmakers sports bar and arcade upstairs they do have food here as well [Music] [Music] we are bringing the nets down [Music] zero is the virtual adventures right so now i'm headed to the flow rider this is like soccer billiards there's the rock climbing wall which nobody seems to be climbing [Applause] he's an eye fly here and a flow rider [Applause] there's nothing like royal caribbean for really fun activities that's what the flow rider the eye flies bumper cars [Applause] hello there are things for every age group great food great entertainment and royal caribbean always just shoots out another part of our family and this itinerary is amazing we're going to be going to athens santorini uh ephesus turkey but we have a stop in naples so that we can go to pompeii and the amalgam coast it's just going to be an amazing week so please follow along [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] so far this is crazy i need to go find the spa so i found it the vitality spawn salon is on the front of the ship where are we on the back i'm a little turned around at the moment [Music] hey this is the fitness area the spa area doesn't have a hot tub it has a sauna a steam a scrub see if my kids are here they're doing it class well i guess my family is not in here i'm on deck 14 now which has the solarium so let's see if i can show you some of the bistro today the solarium has kind of set up buffet style but it has really nice options for snacks so coffee tea juices are free ice water if you get them in a glass otherwise you'll want to buy a package for the refresher package or a soda package or the alcohol package but all of this food is complimentary ethereum is a 16 plus only adults area so it's a little quieter a little more comfortable a little less loud all right so this is the solarium it was a lot quieter i'm yesterday see if my husband's in here somewhere okay live shop is closed in the europe season well i have a dive in mykonos so i won't let that stop me please don't run even for ice cream this is sprinkles [Music] so [Music] now so a loco fresh has some good tacos and i usually get the seafood tacos here let me see if they even have them though [Music] [Music] so windjammer is like the buffet and this is windjammer which is the buffet option they have uh the coffee station here ice cream do you do milkshakes not on board anywhere cookies and other bread nice fresh fruits beautiful salad bars course desserts are the most important part a bread pudding today made to order pasta station as well all right so they have a greek salad and a crunchy broccoli salad the lamb today the vegetarian station got burgers hot dogs little quieter when you go all the way in the back [Music] in back here is the sweet lounge this is the sweet lounge so if you're a sweet guest you can come in here and relax it's nice and cool and refreshing you serve food and drinks in here too normally in the evening oh in the evening now i'm on deck five this is the main deck for a lot of activities this and four want to talk to the shore excursions people there is an art auction going on or an art event cafe promo that doesn't have specialty coffees i have to go to the 270 cafe getting married on cruise ships is pretty awesome and there are a lot of interesting great packages that you can have it makes it really easy to include your whole family all the way forward on deck 5 is the 270 club there's this shopping on board all right this is the cafe at cat 270 which is where i can get my coffee get these awesome salads this is all complimentary and you have interesting meat and you can make a wrap and then some other sweets and there's my coffees [Music] and they have these fabulous little pita pockets and sandwiches and then they grill them like panini style make them flat perfect is the three cheese belts this is where we had our silent disco last night but i guess people come in here and have a bite to eat if you have any trouble at all with anything guest services is here for you to help you the lines are usually really long less long way late at night or way early in the morning [Music] here we go then ladies and gentlemen down three [Applause] [Music] jackets for your kids which is really nice so the more cruises you go on you notice things like the quality of the towels this is the bath towel that they give you um in the royal caribbean odyssey of the sea just a normal balcony suite an obstructed balcony it's just it's rough it's very small um all of the tell products and the sheet products are just not cushy so i just want to set your expectations that this is the type of quality that you get on the bed it's the same um it's it's a nice comforter but it's not the beautiful cushy soft that you would expect the bed is kind of hard my viking bed was hard also it's it's actually really similar to the one i had on viking but you know beds are really important to me and having a nice cushy [Music] pillow and the sheets make my cruise experience more happy tonight is formal night here on royal caribbean odyssey of the seas it's called dress to impress so hopefully i'm just too impressed the um even the tubes that they gave me here is not very good quality it's making my hair feel kind of sticky not smooth after the conditioner so i'm a little disappointed in the quality of the product but i'm not in a suite and they didn't give me a cushy robe which is one of my most favorite things on a cruise ship is to get out of my shower after a long day at the beach or the pool and get into my cushy robe and sit out here in my balcony and drink my coffee so i'm kind of missing the little extras on other cruise ships this one this odyssey of the seas it's really a large feeling ship when i was on harmony and symphony the way that they've divided it up into neighborhoods makes it feel like it's less crowded to me this ship feels crowded it feels like there are long lines a lot of places it's hard to get chairs it's everything's booked up so you can't get into the things you want to do like the virtual reality which my grandsons want to do is booked the entire week and so they're not going to be able to do it there's not even a waiting list so things like that are kind of disappointing that it's it they advertise that this is you know all of these activities are available to you on board but it really they sell out quickly so if you want to do the activities either book them up front when you have the app um on your app or as soon as you get on the ship know exactly what you want to do and go just go do all of your reservations that first day that's the same with specialty dining it's the same with anything that that you have to book in advance tomorrow is santorini i'm so excited i have a fabulous tour set up with uh elegant tours of santorini which was arranged by my good friend and partner charlie the traveler who does fabulous tours and has just started doing grease again so i wanted to try out some of his tours for greece um so that i could help you book some fabulous tourists for greece i'm going to go on a private tour for the 10 of us going to all of the special spots in santorini the great spots for photos and the red beach and then we're gonna have lunch at a beach tavern for seafood which will be fabulous and go to the best winery possible for for wine glass tasting um before trying to head back oh and to see oya and fira before heading back to the ship after sunset hopefully for some amazing sunset santorini pictures we will have to take the cable car up from scala the believe it's called the old port if you take a santorini tour with the ship they take you into a different port if you just take the tender to um to santorini you go to scala and you have to take a cable car up to fiera so it's a little process you have to buy a ticket uh for the cable car there and there are lines and it might take a while our driver is going to be waiting for us up in fira and hopefully it won't take too long i'm really excited the last time i was on azamara here in greece a couple of months ago we did a sunset cruise around santorini which was just the most beautiful thing ever but um but we didn't get on to santorini the island so i really am looking forward to seeing it and showing it to all of you so be sure to follow along so it is formal dining night just to impress for dinner there's bread of course as always this is the special dinner tonight for formal night usually the formal night dinners are better than the usual dinners they usually put their lobster in filet on this night get that gorgeous carpaccio i love carpaccio so much this is the calamari yummy still have not gotten enough french food yet so i'm gonna get my phil on board before i go to greece in italy that's my french onion soup it's delicious so this is how i eat my french onion soup i just eat all of the cheese off the top with a little bit of the onion soup just to make it flavorful and it's perfect now i'm done with my soup thank you so much yes so i got the special filet from chops because i'm not going to go to chops this vacation and i love chops um no that's good thank you so much this is the grand marnier souffle looks delicious thank you rahul is awesome gorgeous day for us to see the most beautiful island in greece santorini so brunch at the main dining so on this ship they will not see uh you unless you're all together so you can't hold a table and then get a coffee and wait for your late children who are not coming on time to any meal so this is a little frustrating for a mom like me who has crazy kids who never pay attention to time but this is the way it is here they made an exception to cedars so thank you thank you fabulous waiter today [Music] [Applause] is my eggs any style i got poached [Music] foreign [Music] i think [Music] so we have to go to deck four forward right before we can go down and go the other direction the process for disembarkation today to get to the tenders is extremely disorganized nobody said where to go what to do we got down to where you're supposed to go and they sent us back up and over to the other side so you can go down and go in this huge line to get to the tenders we were in tender 12 and now they're already at gender 18 so this is really annoying this was over by the royal theater which is where they're calling the tender tickets now thank you so they're having us walk through like the entire deck three from one side to the other to get to these tenders it seems to be moving pretty fast though so hopefully there's a huge tender 50 sometimes 150. how many people are on board 4 650 all right it's going to take a while so now we're back at the beginning where we were hello thank you hello gotta get off and on the ship you always have to show your c-pass card i like to bring my id my wallet my sunscreen thank you we have 10 of us okay the tenders are off to santorini gorgeous you can see the cable cars go up from scala up to fira at the top and you can see oceana's here uh the riviera [Music] um pretty oh there's the cable car coming down so you can see there's five little cars full of people and then you can see the donkeys on the right going up the the boys so you can get a transfer to oya by speed boat here that would have been nice okay so the cable car is over here and we'll go uh the donkey tax [Music] we have to wait a minute this is the donkey crew don't keep rude [Music] oh ride of an animal all right [Music] okay i'm on my donkey so it wasn't they said 10 euros but all i had was usd and they didn't uh accept that it is a one to one um so they charged me 15 usd instead of the 10 euros so get some euros everybody's already way up in front of us he's very wild no he's sweet hi babies all right come on baby let's go no make a little sound like and uh kick a little bit with your heel just a little just tell him you want to go and you can guide him with the reins to the right or left like if you want him to move a little to the right except now we're together [Laughter] oh i agree [Music] i think that this is way faster than the cable car and so much more fun [Music] [Laughter] come on why are you so slow dude i guess this is break time hi got some waters and uh they take apple pay here as well as euros of course so you still have to walk all the way up there so you don't get a ride all the way to the top so on this atm you just say you want money and it gives you euros so it's the easiest way to get euros and we're going to go to the as well so we are on santorini with our fabulous guy my friend charlie the traveler that i highly recommend using my partner as well as santorini elegant tours and it's me i can probably vote freelance if you ask for a special guide and series i'd like to welcome to saborini you have a great view of hera right behind and we're going to visit some of the most fabulous places on this island like ia and other places with great view we enjoy local projects so we're waiting for you to visit santorini as well thank you it is so crowded here today with all these ships in port oh this is the catholic cathedral so there are many ships in port today it is way way crowded here in santorini um this is fira we're gonna drive a little farther away so we can avoid some of the crowds though i want that come back they don't care he's like domino's pizza and santorini this is the traffic today guys it is not easy on these little tiny islands with all these ships important the sixth rent a car right here i could have just rented a car but i hate trying to drive around these streets by myself when i uh don't know the area we got this nice big mercedes van these are awesome and there's a place to plug in this is our lovely private tour do you hear me yes so you're making your video no no that's okay hello welcome to santorini any questions so far yeah in the northern part of santorini there is a small gap there but thousands of years ago the twelve is a little more peaceful beautiful whitewashed not the big crowds that we were just in in fira gorgeous when people talk about santorini this is why it's just a really pleasant sweet relaxed environment very white white-washed pretty luxury hotels of the world this is one of the people of the village this is the most luxurious part of the island by the castelli door over the door small window and two windows one on the right and the other in the left side it's here at this end so it's a little narrow to get to the famous three blue domes that everybody wants to photograph all right now we go this way we're in santorini okay so we can try to capture them [Music] okay it's my place are you ready yeah smile so everybody is gathering for the sunset already uh back citadel actually i don't know if that's a citadel uh the ruins is where a lot of people want to take the photos from illegal i have some diving and snorkeling tours here sailing tours all sorts of exciting options for you just let me know what you want to do when you're on santorini so our mercedes is up here waiting for us you have to walk in a single file line to get to our ride lots of transfers here these little guys to ride around the island contribution thank you hi i'm lady we're having a wine tasting wine tasting wine we're here for a wine tasting it's beautiful here this is venice sanos winery so that way we have a typical representation of the variety five to six years i would say white boat you can also find the mandala in the rest of the cycladic islands and increase quite a lot and it's a kind of difficult variety to be honest because at first it gives us a weaker especially in body wines lowering alcohol than what we're used to and really harsh and aggressive tannins the good thing though is that it's a very aromatic variety it gives us a lot of berries especially blackberries and other red fruits and flowers in the aromas so what we do here to make the body of the wine better is that at first we sun dry about 20 of the grapes just for three or four days because with that short period of sun drying we can raise the concentration of sugars just enough to raise the alcohol to 13.5 and give a fuller body to the wine that way so now the body is medium to full and not light to medium as it would be at first and it's the signature one of our winery it's also made out of three varieties that we've made in previous wines most of it is the izani we have that in a very small percentage in the second point then we have again the 10 is the mandela they're ready the the orange is the dried papaya yes thank you dessert yay we will start with sand right this is a 2001. it's already 21 years old we've used grapes at that point the red ones that you already had we sundried all of the grapes for about 10 to 12 days and then the musk went straight to barrels for the fermentation and stay there for 16 to 17 years it's a very unique wine of ours that we only made once but then we never make it before or after that right body the nice look after taste a lot of sweet smells and flavors mostly uh raisins caramel honey and brown sugar the brown sugars especially we mix this red pepper with the little cheese bite to pair with this dessert wine oh my gosh so delicious oh it's blue cheese it goes great with even my favorite so far i love it is the most famous santorini wine now the vintage are always made out of white greens all the wineries have one of white grapes we had yours had a little bit of a variety of feeding in it about ten percent um now we sundried the grapes for longer than less those that's why this is sweeter than that we sandra them for about two weeks the fermentation happened in stainless steel tanks and after two months we moved the wine to french barrels stayed there walk only so we decided to use uber uber is a great option when you're in different uh different international cities sometimes sometimes there's a lot of anger between taxi drivers and uber drivers and it can get nasty but um we probably should have done this from the first port instead of taking the water taxi over but you live and learn travel is all about flexibility so you can rent these little four by fours and bikes just toodle around oh and there's our uber [Music] this is my fabulous driver and we are here in mykonos and he is um i can book him personally to make sure that you have a fabulous driver when you get here so you don't have to go through this hassle the best driver and he's fabulous because he made the boat wait for us so can't do better than that that's right and are kids allowed i have 13 year olds with me are they allowed in the beach clubs this looks great the water is 23 celsius me and sydney are the divers i love it when everyone dresses me [Music] [Music] because as you can see on the south this island on the south west [Music] okay so the dive was was really different from diving uh with coral reef there's just so much different stuff underneath it's like little white flowers everywhere it's just a really pretty um under ocean experience a lot of rocks we saw some old pottery um [Applause] otherwise i didn't see any octopus or squid or anything that i was hoping to see here but i didn't know what to expect [Music] so normally we would have been able to do another dive we could do a beach dive or a boat dive or more snorkeling but uh my family's pooped so we are gonna go try to find a beach club get some food and just relax this is lyasti resort so they have their own little restaurant here beach club okay we're gonna get a little um drink while we're waiting for our driver espresso martini frozen for me that is really good hey george came to get us awesome and now we're off to paradise so we are headed to paradise beach club mykonos has beach clubs all over with drinking and eating swimming it's kind of what making us known for the roads are really narrow and windy so if you want to drive around the island yourself it's a little more challenging plus some of these roads aren't paved we're at super paradise beach club so they have um tables that are 50 euro minimum per person those are special vip tables that we have over there as well as this one which is 50 euros per person started from 400 euros and then we you can see at any small table you see and you can take whatever you want hey some of the cruise ships have shows for their guests you can have a show out here and that's what they're doing [Music] so there are ways for people who have mobility issues to wait for others so they don't have to go up and down the steps but it's not meant for wheelchairs there are a lot of people here today i'm so grateful that i set up a private tour for us of course depends on your budget they do it if you made your way here alone there are plenty of taxis here to grab to go back to the port or go wherever you'd like to go this is the virgin mary house which we're not stopping at but there are other things to see here so this is how the cruise lines do their excursions in these big buses um a private tour of course like the one i got you are in charge of how long you're in emphasis when you start when you leave how long the tour is so i prefer the private tours but because it does get hot and people and people do get bored depending on how your family isn't touring that is a silver sea bus for instance so even on the luxury ships oh that's a distinctive voyages which i sell distinctive voices you come in the big buses and not in little vans sometimes i book a short excursions group a tour that is on little red vans and i guess you can take a horse i'm not sure how to book those but that would be a great way this is one of the shore excursions group um buses from royals so that is something i sell as well if you want to go on one of these excursions i can take care of that too and it's serviced with a smile this is the temple of artemis which is one of the seven wonders of the world but there's like hardly anything left of it yes okay this is the turkish delight factory outlet but this is how we say welcome in turkey if you are in turkey you should try first of all some turkish delights and i want to tell my favorites the pistachio is really nice and the second one is the pomegranate the reds are really nice but you have more than 30 different options of course which i can get you you can see it's a cobblestone hill first and then there are lots of stairs so if you have mobility problems i suggest you don't go up because it is a hard walk it's 30 minutes out and 30 minutes down [Music] so if you have skipped the line tickets you still have to get through the entrance there is another entrance over by the uh acropolis museum if you take the footpath over so if you have the skip the line tickets it's a lot faster to walk from there and just walk in the entrance instead of waiting in this line but this is high season all the buses are here from the cruise ship all right we're on the front so they confiscated my microphone so take your microphone off and put it in your bag if they don't see it they won't take it but it's not allowed inside the acropolis it's better from up top guys this is the walkway that comes from the museum which would meet up with us right here so the crowd here is a little crazy with all of the cruise ship passengers spina in the sun tomorrow's a sea day so we have the whole day so this is a perfect afternoon for a frozen drink i am envisioning a pina colada mudslide miami vice and ice cafe cafe mocha [Music] yes messi i love making new friends on cruise trips drinking thank buddies yeah strawberry [Music] should i do a whole tic tac of my eating an ice cream cone so if you buy a soda package these are the machines that you can use to get your sodas you have these special cups they give you and they only work in the soda machines you choose your soda and then you fill it up they have a teppanyaki restaurant as well served um you know with big tables thank you okay off to wonderland for a special family dinner tonight boy it was such a wonderful day today in athens and i'm not even hungry and it's 8 15 but we have a special dinner plan for all our celebrations tonight at wonderland which is an alice in wonderland theme really kind of curious interesting restaurant different so i wanted to do it with the kids and i think everybody's gonna have a lot of fun hopefully all right so this is wonderland we have a special table look at this gorgeous the wonderland menus are special they get paid okay this worked way better than the last time i did it okay actually we were at the pool i went up first and i showered and then i made skyler wait a little bit longer than i probably should have okay yeah don't dip it in your drink as you can see the wonderland menu is divided into five elements then ice and fire is going to be the appetizer herb and sea is going to be the main food but from earth we have the liquid truffle mushrooms with soda and from see we have the liquid lobster we serve them on a spoon so we consider them as an appetizer also you can choose any of the appetizers you want some of them are sharing portion but most of them are single portion we from each other [Music] that's the second time today i've done that so if you go with the tailored menu you will be getting from sun the reconstructed compressor the tomato water from ice the crispy crab the liquid lobster those are the six best elements that we have and then for the main course if you like me the best is our sausage it comes with a classic mashed potato with the borderless sauce on the side if you like fish batter we have branzino it is a green fish it comes with the basmati rice cooking the coconut milk with the tamarind sauce on the side or we also have hollywood it's in the same fish we have the snack castle and pork this is the pork belly or we have the chicken in the egg it is the grilled chicken breast but the egg is not the real one but you can feel it i told you for this shirt that's the best part of the movie that once comes out as a sapphire [Music] this is the cheshire cosmo i'm ready [Music] it's not as much cotton candy taste as i would like [Music] but it's a good cosmo i told you it's not soup next time listen that's the tomato water and that's the avocado cones thank you what was that souvenir that's reconstructed tuna sashimi do i do i pour it yes you can just pour it with a small amount it is a lime marinated shrimp and it is wrapped in appetizer i think it's pretty cool i like this it comes with the orange carrot with the yellow carrot it comes with a slice of radish with the baby beetroot and some asparagus on the side you will see two pebbles and they are made with a chicken liver and they're all in the cocoa powder the soil is made with the pumpkin steak one by little bread and mushroom powder and it come on the top with our lemon sauce thank you and with the parmesan this is my liquid glass yummy we're gonna have high hopes for this lobster is a winner the orange one is made with the carrot puree and it comes on top with the use of granite it's a little bit sweet and sour because it's made with the lemon juice so this is the spicy tuna sorbet is delicious because i'm going that's delicious snap crackle and pork yummy chicken in the egg you should just eat it and that's the redzino that is the short rib i already ate some butt i want to show you my sauce it's delicious wonderland looks like [Music] inside it comes with a chocolate mousse peanut butter ganache and the salted caramel ice cream and to open it up we're going to put some caramel sauce come on [Music] [Music] they are made with the meringue the pink ones is enjoy the ship today um this morning i'm going to try this bistro for a breakfast which we haven't done yet and they have a really yummy uh dinner which i haven't been able to get to but my kids enjoyed and so it was so good so we want to try breakfast going back to italy move your clocks ahead an hour so we have moved our clocks ahead and backwards a couple of times it's really important that you stay on top of what chip time is so you know when uh when you need to get off your short versions when you have to get back on board i'm so exhausted last night after wonderland i went right to bed and then and then we got up at 8 30 this morning that was actually 9 30. so i think it was 7 30 this morning that was actually 8 30 because we moved ahead so um we're opposite i don't even remember it'll be a great fun day at sea today tomorrow is naples it should be so much fun we're going to be going to pompeii of course we have to do that when you go to naples at least once and then drive up the towards the amalfi coast and we're doing a pizza making class in sorrento which i'm super excited about naples is some of the best pizza in the world so i can't wait for that it's friday it's a day people are up way too early this morning so you have to be 16 or older to come into the solar okay this looks just like the buffet so it looks like it's all the same buffet food from the main buffet and windjammer just a little smaller version so i think i want to go to maine dining it's a morning exercise class line at guest services morning's the time to come hey we're back for brunch in the main dining it's pretty empty this morning everybody's sleeping in a beautiful table at that window so they deliver danish yes thank you i got a cinnamon roll hi and juices yes i have a tomato thank you my favorite so they have these chocolate donuts or um white chocolate donuts and i have been avoiding them thinking i wouldn't like them but they're kind of mushy and really delicious but is not a word you use to describe good things yes you do i like it granola cafe i love this everything bagel it's my favorite thing burger for breakfast so the look of the ship is really cool but i really prefer the layout on the oasis class ships versus the quantum class i haven't seen any of the shows yet we've been so bad and these shoes in this theater are fabulous oh oh staff is here hi oasis class ships to the quantum class i have decided icon class comes out soon though and i'm not sure where that fits in so i'll have to try an icon class to tell you my feelings about that so this is lunch time in the solarium bistro maybe it was just a special [Music] [Applause] [Music] in the music hall to play some pool for the afternoon with the kids the pub you can get some bar bites for lunch pickles is that like a interactive thing giovanni's italian is open for lunch as well but it is a specialty restaurant so it's not free sandwich that looks really yummy we're in club 270 they do the wraps salads paninis this is the same stuff we have every day so if you have a suite you can eat at coastal kitchen little kitchen if you have a suite this is the dining area for you nice and quiet and beautiful otherwise you eat with the rest of the crowd in the buffet [Music] oh my goodness they have chocolate fountain today what are they putting on the chocolate fountain marshmallows all kinds of marshmallows and fruits you can put whatever you want in the chocolate fountain interesting things today on the buffet having a little trouble finding stuff for my vegetarian but there's lots today it seems what these are so for the chocolate fountain you pick what you want on your skewer they skewer it and then they put it in the chocolate fountain they were out of strawberries already so i got a pineapple and a marshmallow that was pistachio flavored i'm afraid to try to eat this in front of you it's okay it's not fabulous it was disappointing to me so i got a little coffee ice cream and a little chocolate ice cream with some chocolate sauce i think i'm going to put some coffee on it and make a little avocado for myself coffee over my ice cream it's so good this is like my kind of dessert coffee that's what's great about buffets is like just do what you want mix whatever you want to start this game each team will have to create a really really creative name of your team in a cheer it gets so crowded on sea days it's almost impossible to get a chair or have room in a pool or hot tub that's comfortable beautiful spa so i got a 50 uh certificate gift certificate to use is it can i use it for anything or is everything sold out if you use this for a manicure the manicure you can do a manicure for 49 but then you'll still have to pay the automatic gratuity okay so this is just for 50 off of whatever i do so since i got the 50 spa gift card for my 25th anniversary um that was a gift from royal caribbean i'm gonna go get my manicure done today it's 50 and um i just have to pay the tip then so i'm excited get a little spa service in thank you royal today is another formal night so i took a shower early got into my dress so i can just relax getting my manicure and not worry about it they do salon treatments and massages they'll do your hair i'm getting manicured my fingers are in terrible shape she's going to make them perfect pretty it's works pretty well they're asking you to be out of your cabins by 8 a.m if you leave after 8 a.m they're assigning a departure lounge for you to wait in they would rather you take your own luggage with you if you want to use the luggage service it has to be outside by 10 p.m the night before we leave at this port in civitavecchia there's a free shuttle that takes you to where transfers can pick you up um or you can get transfers to the rail stations in civil tobacchia and in rome i've been assigned tag 48 which means that i'm leaving from 270 on deck 5 as my departure lounge and i can depart from the midship gangway so they base this on your time and where you're going so there are different gang ways they're using for different um departures okay we're in naples and we are disembarking now um there are eight of us going today and we have two vans of seven thank you naples thank you wait okay okay this was a little confusing going without a big group of people but we had to go upstairs and now we're looking for the exit so there's an msc ship import with us okay we made it we are at naples and now we're looking for a ride all right let's see we see people with their names one thing road all the way through the amalfi coast can get very backed up in our beaches i know people go early in the morning to take the spot you know if you arrive too late you don't find space at the city of naples not vesuvius that's naples over there don't listen to me that's neat you see the big white sheep that's the poor you know that's neat you love me from there with the vesuvian area that's the area of pompeii over there on the right oh okay and now we're going around the bay got it how are you today good beautiful with the mumbai zoo in the back oh i see rambling run away [Laughter] beautiful so i'm excited it's my first time going towards the amalfi because i'm not actually going all the way to positano because we don't have time but we're going to sorrento and we're going to do a pizza class yeah there's specialty here appear is one of the first town on the coast the town of vico in the second the little bay there's sorrento the last mountain you see on the right over there that's dialed up of the best hotels around are built on the edge you know like this with the the sea view some of the elevators to go down with a little private beach that's the way building on the cliff to get around on these roads or these little scooters you're already getting into these beautiful cliffside hotels even though we're not even to sorrento yet but this way the closer you are to naples the easier it is for you to get around and do tourist activities oh look at that these are mostly olive trees some nets so they shake the trees it's all the olive nets so they collect and there are some places where you press the olives and make the olive oil this is structure with the sticks and the nets all around these are for the lemons these are lemon garlic look how beautiful this is oh my god you can see the rest of our family behind us so sorrento is the one all the way at the end welcome to say sorrento only mochelle are you ready to go in to drink limoncello and pizza school these are two vans i'm diamo there's our other van behind us see if you can see our kids in there they close the beaches sometimes because the beaches are full so don't expect you can just go to the beach if you want to so we're taking the back road to sorrento beaches are closed you just have to keep going until you find an open beach sometimes it's more problems crowds that's why you go to the port to rent a boat you know and you rent in advance so you go there take the boat and go whatever you want you have another kind of experience to drive in the little outlay around here this is what's great about having a private driver they know all the secrets the five you see there was the little shop at the little church of the monastery now it's a very beautiful place there's a big garden all the way down to the edge there's a balcony it's very popular for weddings next week that's another five-star there very beautiful with a big park with the gardens uh there are all sorts of hotels here in sorrento along with coasts to choose from if you don't want to go all the way to positano laurel that's another beautiful five stars beautiful view it's a nice bar also for uh in the evening these are some of the best out there you know all these hotels has a sea view a little gardens uh beautiful view a little driver's test access to the sea and the most beautiful the most famous is the chelsea victoria that is in the square the entrance is from the main square we're going to stop so you can have a little walk okay so you can stretch your legs you know take a coffee while on the right of the clock in between the buildings that's the historical center with the little alley with the souvenir shop you know this is the walking area so we're in sorrento this is the main square of sorrento we're here in toronto awesome so there's the cute little shopping area you got pasta they're known for lemons here in sorrento lemon so this is a really quaint little area here this is the wonderful table still apple in some parts of naval historical center you can find the street food pizza that costs still one euro red and we have the regular one it's for one first we call it [Music] [Music] peppers see i would get all of this what's this sausage this one these are eggplant oh i don't need the eggplant i'll do everything else your bread you do the olive oil and the balsamic to dip your fresh bread into delicioso the oldest family of sorrento that make the olive oil they have the oldest garden of [Music] [Music] okay they gave us our pizza cooking hats thank you we have our italy so i have one little bite here is i've gone to pizza school again it's a lovely lunch and pizza class and now we're on to some beautiful lamborghinis we're going closer to the head you see there's a brown area surrounded by trees the green trees and the more than seafood that's pompeii just straight up uh children under 18 are free and adults are 16 euros a person it is hot out make sure you use sunscreen or bring twenty-five umbrellas the people were living here before the eruption almost a ten thousand are they already gone they already escaped this is the original floor and these are lava rocks coming from a previous eruption so before complaint existed not from 790. pompeii [Applause] in 1748 took all the marble for easy 400 they are beautiful because it's very rich of a details very well preserved is grooves in the road are from the carriages because this part of the street was for carriages the other part in the square was for pedestrians you can see the stairs uh was perfect we did sorrento and pompeii and it was still a full day i'm exhausted i could barely eat i'm so full of napoli pizza is amazing so anyway it was a fabulous day in our drivers of course johnny is fabulous and so is alex and the car behind us so be sure to follow us tomorrow in rome we're back at the port this is a more complicated port so you can't just walk off the ship and walk around the city yes they're building you see they're building a new way more easy for tourists to just cross and go to the city center walking more easy way but there is a taxi stand right here but because they know i love it that is the beautiful lamb shank prime rib efficient pavlova this is like a warm chocolate brownie with uh like it's a chocolate mixed with meringue and chunks of brownie and they gave us the zero balance of beer so i just kept them it's good it's not a brownie it's chocolate mousse but it's good it's time to put your bags outside if you want them to take your bags off the ship if you just want to carry your own bags off then you just take it with you and you don't have to put them out tonight well it's been a fabulous cruise i'm just so exhausted tomorrow we have a tour of rome and then we're off to dublin for the night so keep following me and you can see our great day in dublin these are supposed to be touch free buttons but they don't work very well see how oasis class so much better it makes you feel like you're not as crowded there's not as many lines it's a larger ship but it doesn't feel like it we were very disappointed that we couldn't see any of the shows while we were on board you couldn't get into the virtual reality there everything was sold out already so um it's it's too bad they don't have a better system in place to make sure that the things that draw you on board are things you can take advantage of when you're on board unless of course you don't go into ports and then you can do whatever you want on port days but it's kind of nice to be in greece and italy and turkey i mean i wouldn't want to miss that we are getting an oasis class chip the uh lure of the season galveston so in texas we're gonna have one of my favorite chips um and i'm very excited about that all right so we are gonna go meet at cafe promenade for coffee before we go off on our tour today we've got the roman limo people again so lots of people are just hanging out waiting getting some coffee and some snacks before they have to get off the ship i'm getting my coffee a coffee promenade i actually really like those chocolate donuts i think i'm actually was here now here they do tools every half hour in it's included called the english group this area here owned by the vatican state is considered a historical site and you may ask where are the bones skeletons of these people two things for you number one the soil underneath the city of rome they call it tofu volcanic rock absorbs the body very quickly and the soil decompose the bodies that's what they believe okay in the past people came here they vandalized disrespected tombs and they also took some bombs for souvenirs so there are not videos allowed inside the catacombs oh my goodness so you can see the difference in the modern cobblestones to the ancient right here so this is the ancient appian way we're seeing hidden realm today the catacombs first the aqueduct now the ancient appian way looking through the keyhole it's perfectly lined you see the dome of simpida's basilica so this is one of the hidden treasures of rome it's called the keyhole a little bit of a line to get there my turn oh that's cool cool okay that was really different these people are lying to the mouth of truth so this is made famous from roman holiday the movie there is a scene where if you put your hand in the mouth and you're a liar it'll eat your hand so this one to the right here that's where there is the town hall so the office of the mayor so this hill up here was designed by michelangelo in the renaissance made in the middle ages this was an ancient roman condominium you know residential building so one after the other renaissance middle ages ancient rome and this is venice square piazza venezia this is the main square of rome now we are in the very center of the city see the colosseum around the corner down there ah there it is and to the left the building of mussolini the headquarters that's supposed to leave his office with the balcony yeah so what oh [Music] [Music] we have everything [Laughter] is one of their specialties of course in rome pasta is so good here delicious salmon beautiful tiramisu you want something else outside patio that would have been lovely but nobody wanted to sit outside with me having a fabulous day in rome today the food is amazing of course yikes so we made sure we had a full day tour here in rome today our flight isn't until 8 30 and so we could spend the whole day just exploring the city before we have to go on we have to get to the airport around five to six pm [Music] here there is the entrance to the jewish museum because that's yes the jewish museum will take you to the museum and also to the inside of here do you know how old that is the synagogue is 1500s like one of the oldest all over the world inside there there's people square piazza del popo [Music] is [Music] this is the borghese gardens the borghese museum was one of my favorite activities here beautiful beautiful artwork sculptures [Applause] the spanish steps of rome and that's your word so this is of course like one of the most popular areas of rome the trevi found the spanish steps it's a very high-end shopping center area shopping area gorgeous everybody wants to be here though see the carvings we're at a gelato stop before we go to the airport so you pay oh what is that that they put inside of getting a milk chocolate thank you okay it's gonna be really good i'm good thanks that's good all right we're back at the airport this has been fabulous today thank you so much let me book you with uh francesca the next time you come to rome thank you only having carry-on bags so we go straight to security control all right and now passport control so that was super easy you just have to have your passport scanned and you go through and now we have to wait for them to assign our gate all right so they've put up our gate for dublin e21 so rome is a pretty big airport there are three levels lots of shopping lots of restaurants lots of places to play in and you really only go to the gate about a half hour before you board so it keeps people more organized i love these walking escalators so we had priority boarding because we had bought a carry-on bag so we get to go on first which is nice there's a ramp so you don't have to carry your luggage they're standing it's going to be our turn it's a very good evening ladies there's lots of space above for the bags so the airplane is actually really comfortable these seats are super comfy i like it lots of room for the bags the only thing i don't like is that there's no way to charge anything but it's a quick flight they ended up moving me up to the front
