The superhero movies and animated series that I liked from beginning to end and now a reboot. Tapping out on this one. My kids loved these films. Encourage my oldest to dig into the comics and they love them and still collect Mike's books.

there are a lot of movies out there that are that you're still doing there's there's other movies that you're that you were involved in that afridi been asked about 100 times but my fans would kill me if I didn't ask you your thoughts on obviously they're doing the new Hellboy that's coming out in January have you did you get a chance to do are you you have any consulting at all is anybody ask you any advice my wife asked me hey schmuck put down the chicken leg we don't talk do you hope that he calls would you take that call no no I mean you know I'd take the call I hear he's a terrific we actually had dinner together that was kind of like a little bit publicized but my different patton oswalt yeah is I guess friends with David and also my neighbor and in the neighborhood I live in LA so we've developed this beautiful relationship where we we run into each other in coffee shops and bookstores and in grocery stores and stuff and out of the blue I get a thing from Patton saying he'd like to put a dinner together with the new Hellboy and the old Hellboy that's kind of a peace thing and kind of a passing of the torch and and so I said you know I love that and I had heard good things about David I had a couple of actual exchanges with David on social media he's also politically spoken and we did it and it was a really cool evening but it's look man it's like I did two Hellboy movies I invested a huge amount in in playing the character I spent a long long time really poking and prodding the bear to get the third one made and I felt sure did the rock get pulled out under you guys about that one do you think it was going through and then it just it was never really kind of set in stone I never thought it was going through but I did I didn't know that Guillermo had a an amazing idea of how to close the trilogy and it was theatrically so dynamic and so you know if you were a fan of it through the first two Hellboy's not only were you gonna have you you know the top of your head blown off by how it resolved but um you were gonna get finally you know the the payoff in the investment I mean because you know it was always designed to be a trilogy and the second movie ends you know with a with an ellipse you know dot by the way I'm pregnant with twins boom roll credits so I felt like we had owed the fans closure and I just couldn't there were too many people who were moving into many other directions that I just couldn't pull it off so if you ask me about it it's kind of still an open wound yeah and I prefer not to really I wish everybody well but I prefer you know to kind of leave it be okay that's and that was a again amazing work I think that is one of the things obviously that you will rightfully be remembered for you brought such because I didn't know much about Hellboy before somebody did right and from what he said this was the one of the great lines when we were doing post-production for Hellboy 2 I think it was and I walked in one day to do the ADR dialogue stuff and Guillermo is already in the studio and he's my friend I have very good news for you we went from a readership of six hundred thousand to twelve hundred thousand that's how many people our planet knew about Hellboy I mean it was it was one of the more obscure superheroes which I think was one of the things that attracted game would show it was that the purity of it and of the non-commercial 'ti of it you know for a guy like me who really didn't know a lot about Hellboy if anything at all and I walked into the first movie he had I didn't know a thing and after I watched that movie back-to-back I loved the first Hellboy I love both of them but for me I knew nothing about Hellboy and the whole just kind of your portrayal of a guy that is sort of the antihero but also a superhero kind of situation really brings that whole movie together for me I mean my little nephew wanted to be Hellboy for Halloween and my sister-in-law didn't have the courage to tell him that he couldn't paint his whole body red
