god that truly we would find you in a way we have never known before fresh encounters today oh god open the eyes of our hearts to see you quicken us with a gift of faith to believe to hear and to receive to see and to comprehend god we yield we surrender all we submit to you lord holy ghost come right now and have your way god i pray that you would break every chain or deliver us set us free god from every distraction from every weight god from anything and everything that would try to get your people off track god i pray that today would be a day of refocus god of divine adjustment alignment got into your perfect will lord we love you there is none like you god we honor you for you are holy [Music] you are holy you alone are perfect you alone are worthy you are holy have your way change our hearts [Music] change and transform our thinking give us the mind of christ teach us your word precept upon precept let us walk in truth lord that we might honor you lord jesus christ i transformation in every heart and every life we love you lord we glorify you alone [Music] hey man uh sister angie feels a word of knowledge to share for someone go ahead so after singing i'm gonna see a victory i really felt like those who have recently received like diagnoses medical diagnoses i don't know if it's cancer or whatever it is but may this be your cry today that you would lay whatever it is at god's feet that god has the final word and i also pray that those that our faith would rise that whatever trial we're going through it may not be medical but whatever trial that our faith would rise that that trial is going to turn into a testimony so i just wanted to share that with you yes amen come on let's praise god [Music] amen hallelujah thank you jesus thank you jesus so father we receive that word right now lord we believe you we thank you lord that god even those who are facing a negative diagnosis or even prognosis lord we say let all of those things be a liar and let god be true we declare the word of the lord that by the stripes of jesus christ we are healed so we stand on the promise and we reject every contradiction and lord we believe for we're believers we receive for we receive your word today thank you lord jesus and we rejoice in the victory for we are going to see a victory in you and through you by you because of you in the mighty name of the lord jesus christ we pray everybody said amen come on and praise god isn't that awesome thank you for sharing that word amen so powerful hallelujah hallelujah well like they said i was glad when they said unto me let us go to the house of the lord who's glad to be here today i'm glad that the lord is here and that you're here i'm honored to worship with you before you're seated would you greet four or five people around you and let's welcome each other to the house of the lord god is so good we serve an awesome god and he's worthy of all praise thank you jesus welcome welcome welcome isn't our band wonderful thank you amen for the leadership of minister garna trafton what a great blessing and amen you know recently we were blessed uh to host uh the gospel fest here how many are we here at the gospel fest it was awesome awesome awesome amen amen amen and i guess a little over a week ago now we're hosting another concert uh with casting crowns at the rock church did you know that yeah and it's guess what it's this week it's this week i want to say it's thursday night is that right it's thursday night it's thursday night now let me tell you an interesting thing about the casting crowns concert now they've been here several times before and uh they're just so anointed the way they minister their songs are like sermons to me when i hear them sing it just ministers life and it proclaims truth and and their testimonies are absolutely amazing and what the lead singer has walked through and the miracle of god in his life to heal and to deliver it's it's just phenomenal um but this was the concert that we had scheduled i want to say it must have been like a year and a half ago and then kova came and so they postponed it and then they projected a date they thought it would be and they must have rescheduled it it feels like three or four times and so um it just kept it was like the boy who cried wolf we're gonna do at this state and then no it's that's not gonna work and they pushed it and pushed it back and so now it's really coming it's really gonna be here it's gotta be at least a year maybe over a year i'm thinking at least a year right and so um i the reason i'm sharing all this with you is because i think is the concert sold out okay all right so the concert is it was sold out a long time ago because it kept getting postponed so those people who bought tickets many of them held on those tickets for over a year and so what we're going to find out thursday night is actually it's very ironic because this morning i'm preaching a sermon called persevere yeah and so on thursday night we're going to find out if those ticket holders have persevered if they're coming if they're coming or not right are they really going to be here after a year amen but we need your help so some of you are like wow i would have loved to see casting crowns i didn't even know they were coming and i would have bought tickets well okay even though it's sold out you can still be here in the building and let me tell you how we need help we need an army of volunteers to pull this event off uh because we when we agreed to the concert we you know of course told him our volunteer team is going to help with the load in and the loadout and all that stuff to prepare and then afterwards and especially if you're a night owl usually the loadout is the most challenging part of a concert event and so um i want to know this morning how many of you believe on thursday night you could come out to casting crowns and help us helping the lord's vision at the rock church and volunteer who can volunteer thursday night go give me just a wave let me see those volunteers come on this is the work of the lord right some of you were just praying lord use me lord use me give me a chance lord to do something for you and then you're like can a concert no no this this could be your chance amen you never know you know what when you say yes to the lord and you sow a seed of faith and you step in that direction all kinds of miracle power gets activated it's like a catalyst that's how faith works amen it starts with your yes in response to the lord so amen praise the lord that was a good amount of hands but i think we might need more than that so this is what we're going to ask you to do if you can volunteer and you raised your hand or if you should have raised your hand and now as i'm sharing on this more you're just feeling like the holy spirit is speaking to your heart and you're saying i should that's me i should volunteer thursday night i can be there i could be there thursday night okay so let me give you some instructions what time should they be here anybody know volunteers report at what time volunteers report at five o'clock or if possible four but five and there's a volunteer entrance where they get their credentials right right over on this side of the building so you go from the outside the glass doors there probably will be a sign outside this is volunteers but just find that door this is on the south uh west side of the building and go in there and then you'll get you know your instructions and your your badge and all that and we really need help on the striking of equipment after the concert after that night so we will need a few late owls to come on out as well yes ma'am sister mary load in which day okay isn't that great news some of you are thinking i can't be there at 5 p.m because your schedule conflict but now you have another option did you hear what she said this is wonderful there's an 8 a.m load-in on thursday morning 8 a.m loading that's perfect for some of your schedules 8 a.m thursday morning come on out and and everything's in boxes with wheels they're just going to roll it on in here and they're going to build whatever their sound and lights and all that stuff amen and so um praise the lord that's going to be good all right thank you so much let's give a great big hand to everyone who volunteered everyone who will volunteer yes god bless you amen and you really you can't out give god amen and not just in finances but in your time and energy your stewardship your servant's heart thank you jesus thank you jesus i appreciate every one of you so that's going to be real special amen so we get to host two events within about two weeks of each other uh the gospel fest and now uh casting crowns isn't it wonderful i can't wait it's gonna be awesome amen so be here be here be here all right now we we do have let me see if i have the announcement sheet because i no i don't okay just means you've achieved a lot and gone through a lot um we have um some really special announcements that are very important and uh before we get into those i wonder if there's anyone here today and this is your very first worship service with us at the rock church of virginia beach if this is your very first worship service we just want to say hello by asking you to wave your hand let us we don't even know how many people through the 53 years of history of this church have come through this house many who are trained here many who became members i think over 27 000 in the membership classes and who knows how many more just coming through for a season maybe didn't become members but this is a great place to be taught the word of god we're spiritual family we love jesus amen all of us and amen the rock church is getting ready to celebrate in just two and a half weeks or so we're getting ready to celebrate our 53 year anniversary 53-year anniversary amen is it 53 someone do the math pastor ramos said yes praise the lord pastor robin is going to come up and share with you all these great announcements give her a great big hand amen she's going to tell you all about it [Applause] good morning good morning amen it has been a good week and god has been good this week how many all can say god has been good this week amen we have a few things to tell you about but one that i'm really excited about starting uh tomorrow uh i believe you saw the the trailer for god's not dead gods.dead three and uh it starts tomorrow it's only showing three days monday tuesday and wednesday huh oh they didn't show the trailer do we have the trailer can we show it because this is a big deal okay i want y'all to see this trailer because you know how much we've been talking about the school board and the things going on here well that's what this movie is about how many all know that it's going on all over the country did you know that they're trying to push legislation now to say that parents that don't agree with the school board they want to label them as domestic terrorists did you know that so if you're a parent you have no say in your children's education did you know that the man running for governor terry mcauliffe recently said that he will not allow parents to have any say in the books that are in the schools or any say in their kids education did you know he said that on the 28th of september if you didn't know it look it up look it up he's running for governor yeah um i'm when i tell y'all this goes beyond party this goes beyond party this is about stripping our rights away and honestly i got a six-year-old in first grade ain't nobody going to be telling me what she will and will not learn if i gotta have a cabin in the woods to train her up in the way she should go she will not depart from it y'all hear me so this is important this movie i think is so timely it's right on point and b please be cognizant of what is going on around us because our rights are being stripped and i'm not just talking about americans listen our rights are being one by one demolished as americans but if you think that's bad as a christian your rights are going first they're going first did you know in new york city they will not allow religious exemptions for anybody for the vaccine unless your jehovah witness or church of scientology what does that tell you yes i just talked to a friend of mine up in new york two days ago and she said you won't believe this you have to be church of scientology or jehovah witness to have a religious exemption is that not crazy this is not and and you know we've we've said this is your choice but if it's your choice and you have a you have a conviction about it you should be allowed to have the choice correct so i just want to encourage you be informed but also be encouraged because greater is he greater is he listen we may go through a battle we may go through a season but it doesn't change the fact that greater is he amen so i want to show this trailer and then i've got some great news for you amen let's show it freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction and those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again let's face it your god your book they're in the way you feel that you're making a last-ditch stand for your faith and you've chosen this as a hill that you're willing to die on our whole faith started because one man chose a hill he was willing to die on i would like to call this hearing of the house subcommittee to order right now there's an effort on the way to mandate universal educational guidelines once we decide what a child needs to know it becomes imperative that every child know it remember the visit we got from social services the other day i'm here to review your homeschooling environment religion has been removed from our schools they're teaching kids they don't need god if your children do not show up at school a week from monday you will be charged with contempt of court meaning you will be incarcerated shannon said last night she doesn't want her parents going to jail this is bigger than just homeschooling i think we should fight this we need to [Music] just want to make sure you understand what you're fighting here our district teaches a revisionist version of history god is for us who can be against us around here just about everyone else the country is just now beginning to realize that unity means winning under our terms for 2000 years men have been trying to get rid of christianity what makes you think that you can accomplish what they couldn't they didn't have an 83 approval rating [Music] that's part of your plan isn't it keep us all divided so we don't realize that you're really chipping away at our freedoms and liberties america is a country so blessed to whom much is given much will be required you see those statues and those monuments out there they say you work for us you are out of order government of the people by the people for the people [Music] amen so that movie tomorrow tuesday and wednesday and as a church i have bought a hundred tickets and i'm giving them away today because not only do we need to support things like this but we need to get a fire lit under our feet amen and sister mary was just telling me that terry mcauliffe he said and it was on the news that parents should not have a right to have a say in their child's education this is the man running for governor this is who governor northam backs same man who said we should kill babies that are already born this is what i'm telling you do you think any of this is in the best interests of our children no come on y'all come on i'm telling you this goes beyond you know many other things this goes beyond what's good for me this goes beyond what i like and what i think policies sound good this goes beyond when you start messing with my kid this goes beyond come on y'all should be screaming and hollering this this is enough and your neighbors need to know they need to know that the guy running for governor said they have no say in their child's education they should not have a say they need to know that would you vote for a man that says you don't have a right to have a say in your child's education when amelia was i think in second grade and we had her in a private school and she came home with a book and the book was about shape shifting you all know what shape-shifting is it was all about indians and medicine men and how they could shape-shift into animals you know what i call that i don't call it literature i call it witchcraft and that was part of her reading assignment do you think she read it no way no way i went and saw the teacher and said give me a different book give me a different book she's not reading it sorry then they put her in a play and the play was about greek mythology and she was going to play one of the muses nope oh but she's perfect with her long hair and her pretty dark nope not happening do you think i was popular with that school or those teachers nope [Music] nope i really don't care i really don't care and uh we as parents need to rise up listen this is an attack against your children it's an attack against your grandchildren it's an attack against our christianity it's an attack against our freedom it's an attack against jesus christ himself and if it doesn't stir you up if this doesn't stir you up nothing will nothing will and i i totally believe i asked somebody recently that's involved in politics i said okay if this is what they do and and we all christians end up having to homeschool their children how long are they going to let us do that and they raised their eyebrows and looked at me and said not as long as you would like them to so in this movie talks about them coming to your home do you really think that that's long off where if you don't believe with them and you take a stand they're not going to show up at your home and say are you fit to parent this child it's already happening in other countries it's already happening and so here we go and if the church doesn't rise up if we don't say something regardless of the consequences regardless of our pocketbook regardless of policies that we think benefit us or our community this goes beyond politics community policy goes beyond all of that this is the future not just of our household not just of the church but of the world and they are trying to wipe out the voice of the bible they're trying to wipe this out is what they're doing you don't have a say well the bible tells me to train up my child and the way that she should go so when she's older she won't depart from it they're trying to say you cannot train up your child we have a mandate a biblical mandate to train our children and they're trying to strip away your right that the bible gives you to train your child why because they want them to depart they want them to depart from this and what does that mean long term well don't expect to see them in heaven you want your children to be there with you in eternity you better raise your voice right now because they're trying to take this away from your child [Applause] i would say i'm sorry for getting emotional but i'm not i'm more than emotional [Applause] i'm hot and i'm puerto rican and that's a dangerous combination [Applause] so i got a hundred tickets to bless y'all with today you have to promise me if you take one you're going to use it i don't want it to be wasted if you have family members i just have a hundred of them so if you have a family member you want to take i'll give you a ticket i believe every family should see this movie i believe every grandparent should see this movie i believe it so if you can't get a ticket go watch the movie tomorrow night tuesday and wednesday yeah monday tuesday wednesday can you believe that only do you know what the guy at the theater told us that the theater has made this movie more expensive to see than any other movie what does that tell you he looked he said i don't know why they've done this this is more expensive than any other movie it's more than we ever charge huh yeah what does that tell you no we have a ticket for tuesday night tuesday night at 7 00 p.m that's our ticket night okay so it's not a come whenever you want tuesday at seven is our ticket night and they will be out in the back and i'm sure brother garner who's going to have him back there alia will be in the back so she'll have the tickets for you to get and um we just got a hundred if we need to get more i'm sure we could probably get more i really listen we're making an investment we bought the tickets i'm making an investment because this is about our kids i want you to see this movie amen okay i got other things to tell you about huh oh the theater sorry it's a greenbrier it says it on the ticket if you guys can get it greenbriar regal cinemas okay tuesday night at seven o'clock i'm in all right so uh also there is going to be a meeting today under the balcony for our greeter team ushers and greeters we had a great concert a couple weeks ago actually about a week ago and we have another one coming up on october 7th this thursday so we want to meet with our ushers under greeters today after the service so we can get you ready for that and uh also the arise conference our 53rd anniversary is just three weeks away miles and delana rutherford will be here with us joseph wengen will be here with us he'll be here on that sunday morning and that wednesday night and you all know we love brother joseph and miles and delano they've got revival stern in their bones i know they're bringing some of their worship team with them they're ready to go amen so we're going to be blessed october 17th through the 20th and it's each evening and sunday morning at 10 30 and each evening at 7 p.m and then also our oh and ricky hilton will be here with us yeah and then also our light fest event is coming up october 31st it'll be from four to seven it's going to be after church on a sunday so light fest will be october 31st 4-7 and we need you to bring candy in for us amen we always have a great influx of candy the kids are so blessed they don't have to go trick-or-treating door-to-door they can come to the church and have candy and games and a fun time and they don't need to participate in witchcraft amen okay prayer room will be open 24 hours for church members and if you want to get into the prayer room and sign up for a prayer time you can do that just call the church and they'll give you your code and then also our renovation project pastor john went up and he called me and he's like i didn't realize so much had been done the ceiling's painted and the stage is going in and the flooring is getting ready to go down and the lights are getting ready to go in and we're going to have us a brand new children's center upstairs amen i'm so excited about it so we're still working on that if you'd like to volunteer we need your help how do we be able you know somebody said to me the bathrooms how are you able to afford doing this pretty bathroom because a lot of church people volunteered so we can save amen we can save on things because we volunteer we do a lot of the labor and then we can make things the best for the people of god amen doesn't his house deserve to look like it's his house he's the king of all kings shouldn't be trashy it should be great amen and we get to reap the benefits because we're his children hallelujah so anyway big renovation project and uh we need your help you can call the church and volunteer and you can come any day tuesday through friday to come and volunteer and we have a couple i think it's tuesday and thursday nights that we have volunteers that are coming coming so we want to do that also we have something coming up very very special next sunday y'all say next sunday so as you know we're in a serious time and uh wellington boone how many all know brother wellington boone awesome man of god he has been doing these consecration services he felt like the lord had told him it's a time for the church to start consecrating itself and getting ready for what god has but that we have to spend a serious amount of time laying ourselves down and letting the lord infuse us with what he wants us to have to be prepared for what's coming amen so he's been doing consecration times and he called us and he said i want to do one at your church it's going to be next sunday it's the 10th october 10. it's the 10th month so it's 10 10 and we will be having a consecration service for 10 hours 10 10 10 consecration in prayer with bishop wellington boone it will uh does it start at the morning service john starts at the morning service when you come at the service in the morning we'll be going from the morning service through these hours of consecration there's a break for lunch he said there's a break for lunch okay so we'll be starting it in the morning so bishop boone will be with us next sunday and then we will be going all day some people will come and go we understand that but we want everyone to come and we want you to tell people people who are really concerned and are ready to to get on their face before the lord and say lord anoint me prepare me give me wisdom give us guidance what do we do and how do you want us to do it amen so this is a time for that and so we want you to invite whoever you can to come and be a part of this and again it's next sunday starts in the morning service we'll be going throughout the day and he will be with us for that time amen all right well we are going to take our tithes and offerings this morning hallelujah amen uh asia lost her other front tooth this week and she'll be tithing today on her tooth money train them up train them up i want my kids to be blessed when i was little my parents taught me to tithe i tithed on everything and my dad was was if you knew my father you knew he was a big giver i mean he he would wherever he could he wanted to give give give and uh i remember one time i had a big bank uh that i had been saving as much change as i could and there was something going on at the church we were in some sort of fundraiser i was a little kid and i decided i wanted to give to that i wanted to sow a seed into that i was just little i was like asia's age and so i asked my dad can i break open this bank and it was big it sat on the floor it was a big bank and he said oh yeah you know he wanted to encourage me if i felt to give and sow into the church then i should do it so we took a hammer and we broke that big old bank and all this change came flooding out he looked at all that he said where did you get all this and i said oh i went every week to your car and got all the change out of the cigarette thing you know how many you all do that you get changed you just dump it in your car for tolls or whatever this is back when we had tolls y'all remember the tolls in virginia beach the toll going to the beach and the toll to get off the expressway he had all the change in the car and so i was i was a little thief i was going to stealing my but i gave it all to the church so that made it all better [Music] my point is even in my theo thievery i had a conviction to give i took but i gave amen so my point is this train up your kids amen so they're blessed blessed going in bless going out and all that they do will prosper amen let's stand together we're going to read our 12 34 blessing and then we're going to bring bring our tithes and offerings hallelujah i asked asia the other day i said did you get anything for you too she said oh yeah daddy took care of it knocked it out by the way yeah knocked it out it was an accident but yeah she knocked it but asia had a good time telling us how her sister knocked out her tooth you know that'll go down for the rest of her life so my sister knocked out my front tooth she'll be talking about that amen let's read it together upon the authority of your word i have given and it shall be given back to me pressed down shaken together and running over i am a tither and i give my 12 34 commitment i bring them today into your storehouse therefore the enemy is rebuked the curse is broken i live under an open heaven you pour out upon me such a blessing that there is not enough room to receive it we receive jobs and better jobs raises and bonuses sales and commissions benefits and settlements discounts estates and inheritances interest and incomes rebates and returns checks in the mail gifts and surprises bills paid off debts demolished and royalties received my whole family saved and walking with god perfect health and abundance to walk in divine favor and blessing i am blessed going in and i am blessed going out all that i do will prosper in the name of the now that you love him yes lord come on give him a great big hand hallelujah someone turn to like your neighbor and tell them it's time to persevere amen amen you may be seated come on let's get ready for the word of the lord god is speaking to us today to persevere everybody say persevere amen perseverance is so important you know perseverance is really one of the fruits of the holy spirit in that it is patience and it is long suffering amen and in god that is really what faith is because things that happen instantaneously don't require faith faith takes a little bit of time amen i'll never forget and we have so many testimonies from the beginning of rock church from bishop and demonstrating perseverance in so many different ways and i've testified about it so many times even from the birth of this church i love that story that uh when uh they first came to lens avenue back in 1968 we're getting ready to have our anniversary uh and and they uh had that amazing revival meeting in which the whole building was packed out over and over amen to come in here uh bishop john and bishop ann jimenez but the building well it wasn't actually for sale for that use and they were trying to figure out if the owners of the building would sell it or if they would lease it and i love that story because bishop and calls the the head of the board i think it was the assemblies of god it was some board of ministry that owned that building in lenz avenue and they were meeting about it except the problem was they didn't have a scheduled meeting for a while maybe a week or two and bishop and called them up and said well can can you guys go ahead and just kind of rent it to us until you can meet and decide whether or not you're going to rent it to us uh and so amen she just moved ahead you know and that's perseverance this tenacity i love that kind of faith but real faith is a persevering faith faith is tested in so many ways amen now one thing about true faith is that it never quits in the face of adversity it doesn't quit in the face of contradictions it doesn't quit in the face of challenges it doesn't quit even in the face of seemingly impossible situations it doesn't quit hallelujah i remember when uh years ago and some of you been seeing online of uh pastor vimal out there in fiji you know they've had all these lockdowns because of covet and uh he's managed during that time to plan a church and to get they've had now they're working on another one praise the lord keep pastor vimal in prayer amen but but i'll never forget uh when we were there on a mission strip many many many years ago when pastor vimal was a member of the church he wasn't a pastor he'd never even been trained for the ministry yet and and pastor robin had a vision to to bring him and some others to the u.s for ministry training and so we applied for the visa and it got denied he knows who's ever applied for something in faith uh but it was denied that ever happened maybe an application for something or for school or to buy a home or to rent an apartment or to buy a car and it was denied and so you know you could stop right there many people can just kind of stop right there and feel like that that's it some might even say maybe the lord through the denial is trying to tell me uh i misstepped i'm going in the wrong direction but now pastor rob pastor robin uh she came up uh with another idea about instead of doing a certain kind of visa that we would try another category because they had like 120 categories so we we did that second category and sure enough it was approved praise the lord praise the lord amen amen well don't hold on don't praise the lord yet because listen uh when you begin to take a step of faith in the direction of god's word sometimes you might have an initial success but it gets the devil's attention and so he comes in with his influence to try to shut you down who's ever seen the devil try to shut you down but you knew it was god's vision so we get a letter from homeland security in the usa do you remember this pastor and they sent a letter i never heard of such a thing it was called an intent to deny letter like they were literally telling us in advance we're going to deny your application uh in the future but we're letting you know now this is our intent i couldn't believe it do you remember that i just it was it was real it was like a movie but it really happened so i'm reading this letter so we're praying about it and asking the lord but we felt that the holy ghost wanted us to respond a certain way and we did we did and uh anyways uh he ended up getting approved and the rest of the story that's a good that's the place to praise the lord right there he got approved came in spent that time in training in the usa and now has been launched for into fiji uh where he is doing a great job in the kingdom of god amen so keep him in prayer hallelujah but you know we need to overcome the temptation to quit who's ever been so pressured you just wanted to stop you knew you were supposed to keep going but you just were under such distress and harassment from the enemy and and that is an adversity that when we see god's promises clearly they become an anchor to help us in any storm no matter when the wind blows and the rain falls when you build your house of your life upon the rock of jesus christ your life will stand and that vision of god will stand but we face that challenge don't we perhaps you're facing it right now perhaps you and your family are facing it today the temptation to quit to discontinue what god has spoken to your heart sometimes people are too quick to give up what god said because they feel like the lord hasn't moved so today as we talk about this topic persevere amen i want to encourage you don't throw in the towel just yet amen just because things have gotten tough they haven't just gotten tough for you trust me things have gotten tough for the whole world it's as if planet earth is in a season of trial and testing by fire amen but you know the the only one qualified to pass the test of heaven for the earth realm is the church is his body is the saints the called out ones the sons and daughters of the most high god amen we're called and we have what it takes to pass the test amen and i believe that we will turn to hebrews chapter 6 verse 12 and we're going to talk a little bit about persevere persevere hallelujah i was driving on a highway in the country trees everywhere no civilization i passed a hill side to lots of hills that were there actually and someone who owned that property or someone put a big sign out on the property i'm just driving by i looked up there it said persevere that is a confirmation amen and i've had two other that's actually three confirmations on this message this is for somebody somebody out there who's on the brink of giving in look at hebrews 6 6 12. let's talk about the anatomy of how faith works a little bit as a preview here what we're going to discuss later amen hebrews 6 12 we do not want you to become lazy or sluggish but imitate those who through faith and by say through faith and what patience inherit the promise now if the verse had just said those who through faith inherit the promise amen we would be good with that we would think that makes sense but it made the point to add this attribute of patience of long-suffering of perseverance why because these two go hand in hand they work together why because every word of god that you receive every prophecy that is declared into your ears and into your spirit is one thing but the other reality is that there's a timing in god everybody say timing so god has a purpose but god also has a timing god decrees his prophetic word but god also at a certain point will activate and release a cadence from heaven amen a kairos moment jesus christ came in the fullness of times on time not too early and not too late and when god's hand is resting on your life you might feel like things are delayed things aren't as you expected or that you hope for but let me tell you today god is an on-time god the sovereign god who created the heavens and the earth and he spoke let there be light he declared and the galaxies were launched and the planets and the stars and the milky way everything established so perfectly into existence amen his timing is right on he's a perfect god amen everybody say faith and patience i would suggest to you today that we don't really have faith if we don't also have patience if we don't also understand we must persevere and we must stand strong amen thank you jesus now i'm gonna turn to first kings chapter 18 which is going to be our main text for today i love this story there's so many stories in the bible that demonstrate perseverance this is to me one of the greatest stories uh that illustrate this point well i wish we had time for the whole thing but we're just gonna we're trying to shorten it a little bit here so let's go to verse 41 first kings chapter 18 verse 41 amen everybody say persevere then elijah said to ahab go up eat and drink for there is the sound of the abundance of rain so ahab went and up to eat and drink and elijah went up to the top of carmel then he bowed down on the ground and put his face between his knees and said to his servant go up now look toward the sea so he went up and looked and said there's nothing ah how many of us have seen the same results there's nothing nada crickets chirping but the lord said go up look and see there's nothing seven times he said go again then it came to pass the seventh time that he said there's a cloud as small as a man's hand rising out of the sea so he said go up say to ahab prepare your chariot and go down before the rain stops you now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind and there was a heavy rain so ahab rode away and went to jezreel then the hand of the lord came upon elijah and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of ahab to the entrance of jezreel all right now i'm going to give you from this text and there's probably many more when we give you three three points three steps three steps to persevere amen everyone say persevere all right here we go go back to verse 41 elijah said to ahab go up eat and drink for there is the sound of abundance of rain was it raining yet when the prophet spoke these words no it wasn't what rain was he hearing to say so boldly to the king that there was a sound of the abundance of rain earlier i proclaimed to you right after the worship that there is a sound in the heavenlies of revival there's a sound coming from heaven the decree of god's purpose for the earth and for his church and for your life and for your family and for this church and for this house god is speaking and he is proclaiming his divine destiny and purpose but what channel are we tuned into what are we hearing what are we listening to well we need to be so careful today because as i've taught you so much so many times may i say it again that words are seeds and the words that you listen to as seeds can implant within you bad fruit or good fruit god's fruit or not god's fruit i say not god's fruit because that's the devil's fruit amen so don't let the enemy come in and plant tares when the lord is trying to plant a crop of wheat to harvest in your life 30-fold 60-fold and 100-fold multiplication of blessing that god wants to unleash in you and through you hallelujah god wants to make you a world changer he wants you to impact everyone around you did you know the light of christ on the inside of you is so powerful it can transform this city it could transform this state it could transform a nation think about it through history when the great revivalists gathered to pray they didn't know they were going to be a great revivalist in the beginning they were just seeking the lord they were just pursuing god just like you and just like me but one day in the fullness of god's timing the lord reached down and he transformed human history through the power of the holy ghost what does it take a yielded vessel what did it was to take an obedient heart what does it take someone who's willing to die to the flesh and live in the spirit so that god might arise and his enemies be scattered to proclaim the kingdom of god in the earth the lord wants to use you to transform planet earth but you know where he begins you know everybody wants to change the world but nobody thinks of changing themselves [Laughter] god changes the world by changing you and me he starts by changing us that we learned amen to become vessels of honor amen submitted to god in his kingdom purpose thank you jesus someone say persevere we're not going to get there without perseverance so here's this proclamation of faith o king there's a sound i hear a sound of abundance of rain now that's pretty bold wouldn't you be cautious or maybe even a little you know wondering if what if i'm wrong and this this let me tell you the background of the story in case you don't know it hadn't rained folks it had not rained not for three days not for three weeks not for three months it hadn't rained for three and a half years and now the prophet has the audacity to dare to say there's a sound of the abundance of rain okay get ready get ready get ready there's a sound do you hear the sound oh holy ghost tune us in in the name of jesus now let me let me show you something real quick turn to first kings chapter 18 verse 1. see you see the prophet before the king in this the glory of carrying the authority as the spokesperson of heaven the oracle of god the trumpet of the lord but there's a secret place the prayer closet the place of intimacy with god the place of relationship with the lord it was samson's secret it wasn't his hair it's when he told his whole heart he surrendered his covenant connection listen god is calling us today to get into that place of prayer an intercession perhaps like never before to hear the voice of the lord and to walk in his instruction first kings 18 1 and it came to pass after many days that the word of the lord came to elijah in the third year saying go present yourself to ahab and i will send rain on the earth hallelujah we have a word of the lord just like elijah did amen we do we have the written voice of god these are sure promises they are yes and amen but we also many of you sitting here you have prophecies you have prophetic revelations you have visions you've had dreams from the lord that you know that you know that you know that god spoke now look what happened elijah had to be bold god said go present yourself to the king tell them this word the rain is coming the storm is coming this was a magnificent sign the drought had wreaked havoc in israel and all the surrounding area the great poverty the the poverty and the crops were ruined they weren't able to grow properly and this word meant so much to the economy it it implied the restored blessing of god on the nation of israel it meant so much and here comes ahab hearing the word of the lord through elijah the prophet he says amen there's a sound there's a sound the abundance of rain i wonder what god has spoken to your life i wonder what things the holy spirit has revealed to you that still have not yet come to pass and amen it might seem silly but i want you to know today and this is your point number one if you take notes write this down faith and perseverance because remember they go hand in hand that's how you get the promises faith and perseverance faith and patience faith is voice activated amen you've got to say it the prophet had to go declare it to the king i'll never forget this revelation hitting me i think it was around 2004 we did an event in washington d.c it was the america para jesus event forgive my horrible spanish amen how do you remember that event in 2004. we went to washington dc bishop john jimenez had the vision he was going to gather the latino hispanic church amen and by the way i think it's hispanic heritage month or something like that and so we went to dc to pray but a few months before the event bishop john said well we just need to call everyone to pray not just the latino church but everyone who calls on the name of christ so we did we did that we promoted that event and we gathered and it was glorious if you were there it was awesome if not amen maybe there's some videos somewhere you can watch i'll never forget one pastor rod parsley uh he spoke a powerful word it was around the same time he released his book silent no more uh it was an amazing time a prophetic time and i remember standing out on the national mall with those saints gathered to pray and the anointing that was there and i had a flashback in that moment because i'm just kind of basking in the glory of this amazing time and event and and i had a flashback and i remembered the moment because i was in a meeting when bishop johnson maybe we should go to washington d.c and he started talking about the event at least it was the first time i heard him talk about it perhaps he'd spoken about it before but but i heard about it and and it just it struck me it was like a revelation maybe it seems very simple to you but for me the light bulbs really came on was that everything i saw everything we were experiencing goes all the way back just to a person speaking somebody said it someone decreed it somebody believed it enough to dare to open their mouth and say the lord said this i love what pastor robin is doing standing up amen we're not just creating some kind of problems for the culture of the city no we're standing up because the lord gave us a promise amen he's given the church a promise and let me tell you amen if you don't believe that it's in the word of god amen the scripture says jesus christ himself said the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church of the lord jesus christ so we say no to the devil in our community we say no we refuse to allow satan to affect and influence our kids with that perversity and darkness and evil in the name of the lord jesus christ we will stand amen oh yeah and we have the victory we have the victory it's in politics this is the kingdom help us holy ghost thank you jesus so we got to speak the word amen faith is voice activated start saying what god told you especially to the contradiction especially to when the enemy comes with his lies and his adversity that's when you say no god said this god spoke this god promised this decree it speak speaking proclaiming unashamed of the gospel of jesus christ hallelujah for it is the power of god unto salvation to him who believes are you a believer today decree what you believe in jesus name hallelujah thank you jesus matthew chapter eight verse eight i won't get in the whole story i'll just read that one verse if you know the bible pretty well you already know the story if not i recommend you go read the whole thing the centurion answered and said lord i'm not worthy that you should come under my roof but only speak the word and my servant will be healed hallelujah someone say speak the word declare it speak up speak out speak the word hallelujah don't give up on the promise of god speak the word over your situation and don't listen for one second to the enemy's lies he's the father of lies the originator of lies he lied from the beginning don't even listen dear lord help us teach us to close our ears to the devil's life you know he wants you to be silent the devil wants you to quit he wants you to give up he wants you to comply to his lies god says don't quit i preached the sermon here once i think maybe twice called god the finisher god finishes things well the scripture says he's alpha and omega he's beginning in the end he's author and the finisher everyone say finisher he finishes stuff you know some of you know people they start a bunch of stuff and they never finish who knows someone like that if it's your spouse don't worry lift your hand but just i'm just saying you know they might be sitting beside you right they start something they don't finish it god starts and finishes he's beginning and the end he started it and he's gonna finish it and he does he finishes amen that's why let me give you this real quick philippians chapter 1 verse 6. amen write that down philippians 1 6 being confident of this very thing that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of jesus christ god is finishing a work that he began in you he is a finisher don't quit don't go backwards move forward hold steady stand strong amen finish the race do what god has proclaimed over your life and he is faithful watch him move watch his miracle power move in your life oh hallelujah he's a miracle working god oh thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus glory glory all right we're going to try to finish this we're going to try to finish this what happened the clock isn't right it's like my watch is on backwards thank you amen amen i received that one so number one amen faith is voice activated amen number two let's go to verse 42 of our original main text amen 42 it says this so ahab went up to eat and drink and elijah went up to the top of carmel and then he bowed down on the ground and put his face between his knees hallelujah what was he doing praying everybody say pray we got to pray not just to make it today but we got to pray to succeed we got to pray for god's purpose to be established in the earth see first the prophet spoke to the king but now the prophet is going back and speaking to god hallelujah who knows what he prayed perhaps he said now would be a good time lord to fulfill that word that you gave me that rain has come i'm sending rain onto the earth maybe he already knew the wind but who knows what that i would have loved to hear that prayer wow this is awesome how he submitted to god this was even after his great victory even after the fire fell and that huge showdown he's just seeking the lord here in the fetal position praying it's absolutely amazing hallelujah i believe that he may also because the scripture doesn't mention food except for the fact that he told the king to go up and eat and drink and so obviously he didn't go i don't believe he went up to eat and drink i think he went too fast and to pray and to seek the lord amen so i believe this is an hour that god is calling this church to fast and to pray that's why we've amen we've been calling special prayer times at the church we have 24-hour prayer at the church amen and we are to be vessels of prayer amen we pray without ceasing we seek the lord amen hallelujah we can learn a lot from how elijah prayed in fact the new testament talks about how elijah prayed james chapter 5. let's turn there james chapter 5 verse 15. so we speak the word but we need to pray that word too you've got a prophecy pray that prophecy you've got a vision pray that vision you had a dream from the lord pray that dream to the lord god bring it to pass amen there are promises in scripture that i pray all the time you hear me up here pray in those scriptures why do you do that pastor john i found there's power when you pray the promises i found there's miracles released when you pray the word of god hallelujah i've seen god answer thank you jesus look at verse 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick and the lord will raise him up and if he has committed sins he will be forgiven verse 16 confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much there it is the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much oh that could be a whole sermon right there let me just pull pull it out right there everybody say fervent fervent means hot and fiery now there's nothing against quiet prayers here because there's other scripture that talks about those times being quiet but but this is talking about a certain kind of there's different types of prayer we have to learn that and flow with that as the spirit leads us this is a hot and fiery kind of prayer amen who wants your prayers to avail much amen mucho right a lot me too so he's telling us here a principle of revelation think about it let us sink in the effects effective effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much now here's another key a righteous man hallelujah thank you jesus some of you might say well i'm not perfectly righteous but you know i falter i make mistakes i had i sinned and i had to repent listen if you keep your heart right with the lord remember this that your righteousness is of him amen you have the reason that we can be righteous as bishop ann has preached so amazingly and written about in her book pro-choices about right choices which is righteousness but the reason we can make the right choices and we can live righteous is because we begin with the imputed righteousness and thank god for that place amen so your righteousness you're counted righteous by faith thank you jesus according to the word of god thank you jesus so it's your effective fervent prayer of a righteous man that avails much we got to make right choices to have that amen right standing why do you have to make right choices pastor john it's not an issue of works but it's an issue of understanding the power of sin and how sin works but the scripture says that sin separates us from god amen so you know if there's sin think about in in in the verse says right here go go one verse behind what we just said in verse 15 if he has committed sins he will be forgiven why did they add that in there why they throw that in there they're talking about praying for sick people right but here it's addressing something that that amen needs to be addressed is that amen jesus through faith forgive sins he paid the price for our sins but if there is a knowing surrender or compromise with sin there then in that situation sin separates the person from god if you have separation from god your faith your prayers are going to be stunted they'll be short-circuited amen so that's why that's why i believe it says here the effect of fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much i believe it's imputed righteousness but also a lifestyle committed to righteousness right choices amen hallelujah okay so now all of that to lay the foundation for verse 17 which tells us about elijah's prayer and how elijah prayed he was amen a prayer example prayer warrior it says that elijah was a man with a nature like ours and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months and he look verse 18 and he what boom there it is we just read it in the old testament right he was on top of mount carmel in that fetal position head between his knees and he prayed again and the heaven gave rain and the earth produced its fruit hallelujah when did god release the rain when elijah prayed when was the timing of the lord amen he was waiting on his prophet he didn't let anything fall to the ground without bringing it to pass hallelujah okay for time's sake we're going to go on point number two is you got to pray that word amen pray that promise of god amen you've got to be convinced if god said it conviction should be in your heart god said it i believe it that's it's settled amen take it to the bank amen and not seven days in the bank that's our little joke but it's in the bank amen pray like you're persuaded that's what a prayer of faith is is that you're persuaded that what you're praying shall come to pass how can you be confident that your prayer amen is going to come to pass because if you pray the word you're praying god's purpose amen hallelujah and so if you pray the promise of god you're praying the word of god therefore you're praying the purpose of god amen and it will come to pass he will grant you the desires of your heart hallelujah that's what real faith is okay i'm gonna just jump to point number three and maybe at a different time we can uh get some of these other sub points in amen amen so finally what did elijah do after he spoke the word after he prayed that word and then finally and this is really the whole point number three number one speak the word faith is voice activated amen amen and and then uh number two amen was to pray the word amen and we have to pray god's promise and number three are you ready persevere amen everybody say persevere don't quit on the word of god amen now look at verse 43 we'll close with this i love this i could just read this passage over and over it excites me he's up there praying he tells a servant go go up now look toward the sea so he went up and looked and said nada there's nothing and seven times he said go again hallelujah that's a lot of times i don't know if we can we'll have to i don't know we're gonna have to we're gonna have to illustrate that point let's where's brother brother garnet i'm gonna get brother garnet he did such a great job today brother garnett i don't want to pick on you but here he comes come on brother garnet isn't he a servant of the lord isn't he a true servant of the lord come on up brother garner so pastor ramon is better with numbers than me so you have to give me the count okay so i'm over here praying i'm the prophet i'm just praying we're going to count how many times is seven you got to see what this looks like now i'm going to ask you to go check pastor rahman is the view of the sea over there there's you know because of course she's beautiful and all that so right she's gonna go look so uh okay so here's my first one the past rob you gotta count me down seven okay all right uh go and look please thank you all right so he's gonna go and look and i'm just praying i'm seeking the lord i know god told me yeah you come on back i know god told me the lord gave me a revelation of would you would you see you guys say no nothing what but the lord said okay just go again just go yeah okay go again right all right okay lord i know he said there's nothing lord but i believe you spoke i'm convinced i'm persuaded i heard it crystal clear it ha and uh okay what'd you see this time nothing what hmm is this the part where doubt can begin to creep in in your thoughts and in your heart in your life how many is that pastor robin what that's it please go again okay i'm gonna i'm gonna start speaking in tongues now in the name of the come on can you use the name i'm gonna use what all the prayers i know i'm praying in the holy ghost lord do it you are a miracle i'm proclaiming it what'd you see now still nothing really how many times is that there's only three please look again okay okay now i'm gonna pray the promises of god i'm gonna quote the scripture on this thing amen oh but the lord says hallelujah i'm an effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much i'll pray amen um amen now uh how about right now see any any i'm the same thing nothing well hold on a second hold on a second can you pray with me for a second i will agree together father we agree together okay now go check again okay a period of agreement sometimes it takes two right two or three touch and agree anything they shall have what they say we decree it we declared it oh thank you lord lord you've spoken to me i already said it to the king already i've come up here on the mountain i'm praying and now what do you got nothing not even like a little like a cloud or something no no clear skies clear skies clear skies how many is that pastor robin what five's the number of grace go on back this is the grace this is the time this is when it's gonna happen y'all 5 is the number of grace surely the lord is going to answer me now father we thank you lord that you are faithful to always keep your word thank you lord it's on now hallelujah we're going to see the kingdom come to the earth where's that's my great awesome servant of the lord what did you see still clear skies whoo now it's the midnight hour [Applause] it's the darkest point before the dawning of the day this is when the temptation is the greatest to surrender to throwing the towel i asked him six times he went back six times surely that's enough i must have missed it i thought i heard the lord but i'm human maybe it was me i better send an apology letter to the king before he has my head oh my goodness oh my but you know what that's how the enemy works isn't it some of you are there today some of you are on the brink of throwing in the towel god sent me to tell you don't you do it persevere in the name of jesus christ persevere god is coming through his promise is yes and amen you may not understand it it doesn't matter he is the resurrection in the life even if you were dead yet shall you live in faith all right let me get back to my prayer time hold on wait a minute wait a minute god didn't do it on number three that's the number of the trinity he didn't do it on five that's the number of grace you just came back on six well six is the number of man which kind of implies flash so i expected a no on that one but this would be what time is pastor robin pastor robin says number seven can you go back one more time please okay he's gonna go check again father god i trust you i trust your word you've always come through you've always been faithful you've always declared your word and brought it to pass what is it what'd you see i see a cloud the size of a man's hand what what go down and tell the king he better go to jezreel right now the rain is coming the rain is coming rock church hear me the rain of revival is coming hallelujah come on put your hands together and give god praise woo jesus jesus jesus glory to god persevere persevere persevere persevere persevere you jesus thank you jesus father we come before you today and we thank you for the word of the lord and that it doesn't return void but god you watch over it to perform it and it always accomplishes that which you send it forth to do father god i pray today you would break down every barrier and every wall calls our hearts to receive a gift of faith to come alive god and to walk in the power and demonstration of the holy ghost thank you jesus for your word is truth your promise is sure and you will never ever cause your people to be ashamed because you can't fail oh lord we confidently put transform every soul god that needs healing today we need you lord we ask you father teach us how to speak your word in faith teach us how to pray your word in faith to wait on you and to stand on your word in faith teach us to persevere as you bless the house of the lord quicken us we would stand in victory defeat every enemy in the name of the lord jesus christ amen come on and give the lord praise everybody serve an awesome god oh yes he's an awesome god he loves you so much he loves you so much beyond human love beyond our comprehension because his love doesn't depend on us isn't that died for you he sent his only son jesus christ who became flesh took on the form of a human and a servant and he died and he suffered death on the cross for your sins and for mine the bible says that on the third day god raised him from the dead the bible says if you'll just have faith and you'll believe that god raised him from the dead if you confess jesus christ as lord that you will be saved you can be saved the lord wants you to be saved god wants you to be saved i want you to be saved today don't leave this place without receiving salvation you can be saved and it begins this journey of eternal life begins with a decision a simple choice to say yes lord i surrender all take my heart he's after you he's pursuing you his love is relentless he won't quit on you there's nothing you can do no place that you can go that'll make god quit isn't that awesome i want to pray with you today if you want to receive jesus into your heart lift your hand and just wave at me anyone like that we want to receive jesus in your heart lift your hand if you want to recommit your life to jesus lift your hand and just wave it at me i'm looking for you god's looking for you amen god bless you i see that hand anyone else you want to recommit your life to the lord jesus or maybe for the first time commit your life to god this is what we'll do let's all pray this prayer together and i know you won't mind those of you who are saints and you love the lord this is just a prayer of commitment to jesus and if you're watching online take this prayer and make these your words from your heart to
