Robin Williams is here you know all of a sudden there was Robin Williams ABC was having a hot hot decade as a matter of fact in the 70s and so it was 74 75 that they started the show Mork & Mindy and I was one of the first people to interview Robin about that show cuz I was out there doing the entertainment news for channel 7 in Hollywood and so I didn't know anything about him I don't know how lucky he could be but we sat down on a couple of stools and I said hi how are you and he jumped off the stool yes and did like four and a half minutes on what he does and I couldn't get over it I couldn't believe this guy but put that was him and that was the beginning of a wonderful career for him in the business so he'd always got this animated movie out called robots yes oh my god yeah a lot of kids are seeing it at the IMAX right around the corner very exciting stuff here he is I mean he's won Academy Awards he's won all kinds of awards out in Hollywood one of the great actors we have on one of the fastest minds the quickest compact Minds around today ladies and gentlemen the one of the only Robin Williams all value you are learn to fight in this outfit I will find you robbing realms Crouching Tiger Hidden heel he's village fighting that he will fly across and go there how are you father good to be back look at you wearing colors we're in you get a little turquoise there slight bit of turquoise on her with I think it's turquoise or maybe teal it's robin's egg blue we'll be right back you know that a man here graduated from Juilliard which didn't graduate but thank you for all you didn't graduate no once again it was like all so close laughs did they what happened no I I fell in love and went back to live in San Francisco and they said you went when you want you'll be back oh I see okay but till you spent some time over there did you live in this neighborhood I live Yeah right up the street I lived when this was no longer there weren't a lot of Starbucks back then yes oh yeah it was just the old you know the candy store don't touch the magazine get away from there you old get away from there hello mr. Finn man hello hello Harry Gentile boy but it was I loved them walking up and down Columbus I'm sure they're always the drag queens gone mirror where you Ronnie look at you papi don't go so fast but it was English for a big hit big hit back then look at him look at him wearing the arm warmers I like you don't don't wear fur be fur look at that crazy little monkey man you know we met in 74 75 when I was telling there Kelly about Mork and Mindy and Howard said but what did you do to get on that show were you performing in San Francisco no I was working in in LA I did oh there's a show called laughing - which was so good - no nobody else nobody else - it was like Jane okay and then I auditioned Garry Marshalls son had seen Star Wars and I wanted him to put a alien on happy days and Gary's like I don't know what it'll be good for the kid then penny came in the room hi Gary - and then I went to audition for them and uh I basically started off the edition by sitting on my head and that was but you got your own show I didn't get my own show they basically first on happy days yeah and they're not you okay then there was some sort of deal with Paramount ABC were they something fell out and then they had to rush together this arranged marriage of Pam and myself and then we had more Chaminda absolutely I'm trying to imagine Gary and Penny during the audition with you because you're so quick and you're so fast and that you know that's a little bit like a lemur in a puma oh wait what was that they kind of function and a lot you know oh oh you're hurting me why I woke up little Jerry Lewis yeah hell man in Halawa dream please help now how much money have we raised over a period of time I always love come here cuz it's make up you've got a little bit of New York yeah and you have obviously a lot of family pictures find a ladder to get up to the next level and our Park views over here mr. photo oh my gosh very scary yes scary you get different fan mail to help enjoy your work and I know where you live what's your favorite I think Aladdin because it was a cartoon biggest big box cartoon from just from the perspective of the producers would be a dream because your voice you are so many different things a lot of people would say that um they just draw around you well that we start off just doing the script and then on a Latin it was like are we I said do you mind if I try somebody went oh okay then 20 hours later they had all this stuff that they could create with right it's cartoons for me the best part is number one you're in a room and you create and then they go off and draw what you give them and it usually goes much further mm-hmm you lay it down first the voice first and then down what I like to say is you live down you front it and then my animators my man peeps with the pencils come out and then they throw it down on the paper and not necessarily the paper now they got a computer the animators the 3d graphic you come out really good and then the character come to life and really gets out and can get jiggy with it you know I like what my characters come out of the dance around and move up and down round and I hope the sensor was on the budget got we ain't got no five-second delay unlike the Oscars yeah don't give up with the oh yeah wasn't a thing and even Oprah one who's the Oscars kind of stranger someone when they went into the audience and they were they gave me one yeah yeah felt like The Price is Right exactly yeah dude in a cucumber give it now what about you hosting the Academy will never come on no no no they're people who were meant for that and there's out there are others wanna be oh yeah yes like mmm oh it's house the family's like giving Michael Jackson keys to Disneyland you're old right there Columbus heaven yeah that's where rabbits expert in the corner dude you're just with corn it's the Lovejoy what's coming you buddies clunking American people oh these are the green okay you got to make a movie here in New York I've guessing the summertime pretty sound about a week style absolutely or can then work in New a song actually a take-off on singing of the rain called singing and the oil right just for fun drifted and then all of a sudden they went I thought you'll never get the rights and you know and I'll suddenly put it the movie when you did right you're so you're singing in the movie you're singing yeah your character is fender what would his fender look on there is kind of a skidrobot kind of a you know a man of a man of means basically living hand to foot literally put together plus a series of spare parts that much like I am at the age of 53 no you and I look for upgrades whenever we can well it's a sweet part yeah you enjoy you enjoyed I love doing animation and I'm always loved it since I was a little kid especially like you know Elmer and you know for me that one of the great characters is Elmer Fudd yeah very very accessible human being I would imagine that every pitch meeting for every animated movie they must start out with okay we see the lead character as Robin Williams it's gonna be every character in every movie because you would think that bless you child just live in a wonderful world I do if you saw there's others coming now did they allow you because you're so good at this do they allow you to change a word maybe sentence put your own stuff in the record sentence yes mm-hmm will you make a sense I'd like to make a sense dad would let me riff a little bit which is great you start if you always give him a bass track just to kind of work off sure like we did that riff before and then you can go off and he said try something like for you know different parts with they're trying to get into a place in a big party so we tried one which is very much like this kind of like the royal family except with better teeth and then and then I week one you know one character was very French you know but then you have to have cigarette smoke and crazy for children you don't want to do this and then what are you doing I don't care what do you do I love you oh look the Germans and then we ended up making it a character very Spanish kind of like this a Castilian Spanish yes because in Castile you know they spoke like this because philip ii supposedly spoke like this and they wanted to make everyone feel but okay so philip wouldn't notice that nothing was wrong so if if you're in america mess up your sentences so the resident doesn't so you got the Spanish down you got the French down French number week he ended up in touch with the director to pick which one they want so you you you he chooses and he has a great sense of did you throw in one of my Italian brothers you know a lot of people who say to me yeah Regis why not to put me in a cartoon Mickey Mouse how come you only got a three finger you can't cook with three fingers how do you hold a
