Roadie The OverNighter Car Door Tent

today we're gonna be doing an unboxing we are preparing ourselves for the over landing adventures that are up and coming welcome back to another video i hope everybody is doing well uh the weather is turning out to be really beautiful right now and we're getting very stoked things are looking a lot more positive in life now being able to see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel is always a positive thing all right today we are going to be getting ready for over landing now as you guys know my wife and i we have a 2007 gmc yukon that has a four inch lift with 34 inch bfg goodrich tires we sleep in the vehicle we don't have a rooftop tent we do have ground tents but we find it to be more convenient and a little bit more comfortable to sleep in the yukon uh one of the major things that having a full-size vehicle or full-size suv to be able to take onto the trails is the actual room inside we can literally throw throw in a double sized air mattress into the back and my wife and i will be able to sleep comfortably back there but one of the things that needs to be addressed is ventilation um okay so sleeping with the windows clothes can get a little bit stuffed so what can we do to kind of figure on how to solve that issue well let me show you something hold on all right so i was snooping around amazon and i found these guys i'm going to assume it's called roadie it's called roadie the overnighter all right so basically what that is is just this canvas thing that goes over your door with a screen and a rain fly so that way you can open up your window and be able to be bug free let's go ahead unbox this and see what's inside so no bench today i'm just going to open this up right here perfect picture right here uh window is able to be fully down with the screen to keep the bugs out and you can see that she's having an awesome time reading her book and enjoying the space inside the vehicle hopefully that is what it's advertised all right so open it up we got some literature in here we got the unit itself and i'm gonna put on pause right now because of course the city guys are coming in making money so i'll be we'll be right back all right he drove away i didn't have to wait for too long that's awesome all right so here is the package let's go ahead take this out actually that's really nice actually that's really nice comes in a nice little uh pouch there it is roadie so let's go ahead unzip it and what the oh i see what it is this is actually pretty cool so the it looks like the pouch is actually part of the unit itself um oh nice okay so we have little sticks over here this is to help keep that rain fly straight up all right very similar to tent i'm uh very familiar with these [Music] and then this i'll stand back all right so you pull it out and like i said it's actually part of the unit very cool [Music] very cool a couple of you guys may ask me what kind of material this stuff is made from so let me take out this huge tank and read what it is the shell is woven portion 100 polyester coating is 100 polyurethane lining mesh portion is polyester frame is plastic all right so they do have a website there is the web address right there [Music] uh so if you guys want to know more information about them go ahead again i purchased this off of amazon this was not a pretty promotion or anything next thing to do is actually to put it on the yukon [Music] [Music] all right so there is the final product not a bad little thing it wasn't that expensive and the fact that you're able to uh open up your window and you have your mosquito net there is really good uh just one little tip with this i rolled it down and upside down type of thing instead of forward but upside down only that if it does rain rain won't really accumulate over like this way if it was the other way then it would definitely accumulate so do it like this and water will drain out really wish that our window was able to roll down a lot more but it's only halfway we only get this little tiny section right here so [Music] all right so sitting in the inside this is how it looks thinking about getting two but one should be good enough and so it just fits the door uh it's snug it's it's all right uh the only thing that i'm not looking forward to is over here in the door jam um for this body style i'm not too sure for any other vehicles but uh so you have these the door hinges the the uppers and lowers and you have this kind of like hook style this hook style right here comes in and then it bangs onto the stop over here i just have to make sure that the canvas is actually on this side of the hinge not this side the other thing too is because i keep this all greasy it looks like the canvas is going to get greasy as well it's okay little things it is what it is but not too bad seal the other thing that i'm a little concerned about is actually here in the door jam um oh yeah this is another thing can't get it to the door handle you actually have to go inside and do that so coming into the inside of the door is this right here so the thing that i'm concerned about is this right here the bungee cord with this little plastic tie so when the door closes this is gonna hit on the weather stripping now what i'm concerned about is when it's gonna rain is water gonna leak through here because it's not gonna be a tight seal that is what a that is what i'm concerned about um again it's the same issue down here but i'm not too worried about it because well it's at the bottom water runs down not up unless if you're getting flooded knock on one that doesn't happen but uh yeah so it'll be interesting with this right here we'll see how it is um but other than that like i said the window itself for the yukon for this gen it doesn't roll down all the way so this is what sort of what we're stuck with but it is what it is overall i think it's a good addition to uh to our gear i'm looking really forward to actually put this into the test in the real world uh for now like i said it looks and it fits good um as you saw was pretty simple very easy to set up all right so that's it for the video i got i hope you guys enjoyed this unboxing and this product overlooked uh you know what like i said it's not bad setup is really quick and it seems to be doing the job but again we won't know until we actually get out there and put it in its element where it's supposed to be and be able to see what it can do uh like i said as of right now it looks it looks pretty good and it looks like it will work but again until we can actually put it through its paces and actually use it in what we're gonna be using it for it's gonna be uh we'll see how it performs and definitely i'll let you guys know until then i hope everybody stays safe
