so everybody this is the rightline gear suv tent it is um 21 pounds you can order it off of amazon i will have a link down below but uh this can be the first time opening it and also setting it up so after taking it out of the box this is the carrying case it comes in it says on the outside that the ten dimensions are eight foot by eight foot and seven foot two inches high so a couple of things i want to note right now while i'm thinking of them um is that uh although i was able to set it up with one person um two pr two people setting it up would go a lot easier i believe um the polls are thicker than the normal tent poles so that normally would be harder to bend and you know to kind of flex them into their spots but also you don't have to bend them as far which brings me to the next point which is they they have these stakes that are really super cheaply made these are the ones that pretty much come with all tents and if you have any type of hard ground they're gonna end up bending if you have soft grass where you're camping great but like this one here you hit a rock and now they're just completely bent so stakes i would update or buy the real thick um they almost look like big railroad nail type stakes um go ahead and buy those and then also inside the bag they have directions they're not super easy but they are sewn in to the bag so that's nice and i think uh the the bottom is made of this uh heavier kind of tarp material and it's actually pretty thick so you know they say you don't have to put a a tarp down underneath it which that saves you a step for sure there overall um so far i'm happy with it it's not got like anything too great in material i mean it's it's pretty standard i'd say it's a little bit thicker than most tents um as time goes on i'm wondering if this netting is going to hold up as good you know as you're slipping the uh the poles through it and uh so that's what i would do is i would go ahead and upgrade your tent stakes and bring a hammer i had to use a rock nearby okay next step is to attach this uh this side i'm gonna be taking this part and putting it over the hatch and then fastening underneath and getting this all set up on the next step okay there are two of these that are buckle clasps and they're going to get pulled up to my crossbar of my roof rack and that's how i'm going to attach it i'm going to put that over the actual hatch okay the next step is to open this up and to tuck in the bottom around the the base of the bumper and then this would be something else to know be careful because you have a muffler under there if you've been driving a long time you probably want that thing to cool off before you put any of this material right next to it so now on the outside there's something to actually make uh to cinch it up so that it kind of gathers up that bottom piece um so the straps take a close-up look um we've got just a real quick strap there so i just quickly put these straps wherever i could find a spot i just kind of clipped them just inside there this one goes here this one i had to go a little bit farther out and i just clipped it into that what i think i'm gonna do is i have made a small um wooden platform here and i think what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna go ahead and put in some eyelets for those so that it's going to make it a lot easier to just go ahead and fasten into those but uh yeah whole idea is to be able to stand up i'm almost six foot tall and i've got to reach pretty hard to get the very top there so that's uh that works out really good i need to be able to still stay in here but then also have space out here and then a window as well there and one window here on this side on the outside there's extra fasteners so if it's windy you can use these and then these will go down underneath the wheel wells of some vehicles so i think there's enough variation on this that you could pretty much fasten this to any suv just a quick little view from the other way which is from in here looking out and i'm gonna see if i can still close down the hatch and be inside here this one i think you're gonna have to undo because it's where the door actually latches and this one as long as it has enough play that should be good let's give this a try in the morning time boom you're in business good deal okay finally you're going to put on the rain fly on top and i want you to note this is how it's going to go you have these clasps that are going to go right into here there's two of those one on the far side one on the front side what you want to do is look at the material there's going to be a side that you can tell is the underneath and then the outside look at from the clasp there's going to be a short side so that's only about two foot there there's gonna be a long side that's about four foot this four foot long side goes on that side we need the short side because it doesn't have to cover very much over here so that means this class doesn't go in the back it goes in the front let's fill that up there until it gets figured out okay once you do the one class take the other clasp and walk it around that way you you know you can start there and then do your final little four things at the end the reapply on this side will cover the window completely and then it just kind of covers the top piece there there you go okay another feature of this tent is that once you have it all set up you can actually zip off and make two separate rooms so if somebody maybe you're camping with they could go ahead and have their sleeping bags out or they could be using the tent and then you could still have somebody but just the zipper you can open up the other side so that's all it takes so you can kind of divide the um suv off from the tent which that i think is a very nice feature now let me show you the process of detaching just the vehicle from the tent i'm gonna remove the three straps i'm gonna zip up the tent and then the tent will be free and clear except for the two straps on the very top so okay okay guys um my final thought is other than getting the stakes you want to make sure that you get those heavy-duty tent stakes i would maybe think about getting something like a marine carpeting something kind of thin but could kind of protect the floor maybe some indoor outdoor carpet that would probably save the floor just in case you wanted to put chairs in here table you know if it's raining outside you could still have a place to sit i love it i'm happy with the purchase you're able to get up here and sleep but also have some stand-up room for changing and that's kind of why i got it so i hope you enjoy it if you haven't had a chance yet um subscribe to my channel i do a lot of stuff with camping uh toyota 4runner um pretty much all the things outdoors so other than that um don't waste too much time on youtube get out there and go camping we'll see you out there so you
